Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

A weekend of cup action in Beds & Herts with the quarter finals of the League Cup taking place along with the 1st Round of the Chris Renshaw Cup being played some exciting games amongst them too.

   In the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup quarter finals defending cup holders Houghton Athletic Ladies are through to the semi-finals of this years competition with a comfortable home win over fellow Division One side Flitwick Ladies. A brace for both Shakeela Hussain and Emily Wilson in the match with a goal to for Louise Spendelow to see Houghton advance with a 5-0 win.

   Also through to the semi-finals of the League Cup with a 5-0 win are Northwood Ladies in their debut season. Were away in the quarter finals taking on Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three side, Evergreen Ladies. Scarlett Keightley putting the Division One side into an early 5th minute lead, Zamina Rehemtulia and Emma Steele making it 3-0 before half-time. Leanne Jones extending Northwood’s lead on 59 minutes. Keightley getting her 2nd of the match with 20 minutes left.

 Beds & Herts Women’s Division One leaders St Albans Ladies are into their 2nd semi-final of the season having already reached the semi’s of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup. At home in the quarter finals of the League Cup taking on fellow Division One side Garston Ladies. A single goal enough to send St Albans through coming late in the 1st half, Ellen Slater scoring.

    An eventful game in the final League Cup quarter final going all the way to extra-time. Division One side Sharnbrook WFC hosting Division Two leaders, Garston Ladies 2nd XI. Lauren Berryman scoring a hat-trick for Garston. Sharnbrook netting 3 up the other end to force extra-time Emma Butler scoring in the 1st half with Hoffi Pursey scoring early in the 2nd half Butler scoring again in the 84th minute. Into extra-time the match was closing in on penalties when Gemma Franklin (pictured) found the back of the net for Sharnbrook with 3 minutes left to send them through to the semi-finals.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

 Into it’s 2nd season The Chris Renshaw Cup began this weekend with 8 1st Round ties featuring those sides knocked out of the League Cup in the early stages, plenty of action with three ties going into extra-time two of which feature Welwyn Pegasus.

Division One side Sherrardswood Ladies were drawn at home in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup taking on Division Three side, Bedwell Rangers Ladies. A 7 minute hat-trick from Laurie Marris in the 1st half putting Sherrardswood in control of the tie, could find no more goal 2nd half Bedwell pulling one back with 15 minutes left Jessica Sullivan scoring. 3-1 the final score.

Plenty of goals in the 1st Round tie between Watton Ladies and Welwyn Pegasus Azures 11 in total as the game went all the way to extra-time finishing 4-4 after 90 minutes. Janiece Allen scoring a 1st half hat-tick for the visitors Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Division One side Watton getting 4 goals leading late into the match Sophie Clarke netting for Welwyn in 2nd half injury time to take the tie into extra-time. Watton found another goal in the extra period of play but it was Welwyn who progress as they scored twice more to win an incredible game 6-5. Anja Fletchman Brown and Clarke with her 2nd of the game sending them through. Both Beth Wilding and Laura Agnew claiming a brace for Watton with Gemma Penny also on target.

 Hitchin Town Ladies also progress in the Chris Renshaw Cup with a 1st Round home win over fellow Division Two side Evergreen Eagles. Jessica McNamara scoring a hat-trick with Mandy Cain-Murnane also getting a goal in a 4-0 win.

4-0 was also the winning margin in the all Division Three 1st Round tie between, Potters Bar United Ladies and Shefford Town & Campton Ladies. It was the visitors Shefford who progress in the competition with goals from Chloe Tate, Louise Grocott and Sarah King along with an own goal.

Another all Division Two 1st Round tie saw Letchworth Garden City Eagles hosting Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues on Sunday. Natalie Moey scoring a hat-trick for Letchworth with Katie Smith also on target in a 4-1 victory. Chloe Martin from the penalty spot scoring for Woburn & Wavendon.

    Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies in form in Division Three were away to Division Two side Hitchin Belles in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup. Laura Bocking and Shannon Page scoring the 2 goals for Hitchin Belles they were knocked out of the competition with Wheathamstead netting 3 up the other end Sophie Pidgeon getting a goal with Libby Quinn scoring twice in a 3-2 win.

An all Division Three clash in the 1st Round of competition saw Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets hosting league leaders Bedford Ladies Development. The visitors in trouble 2-0 down at half-time, Emma Payne netting twice for Woburn & Wavendon. Bedford mounted a come back in the 2nd half to force the tie into extra-time. Captain Jessica Bunnage making it 2-1 on 67 minutes. Catalina Costas with her 1st goal for the side 8 minutes from time making it 2-2. In extra-time Bedford went on to take an early lead Bunnage with her 2nd of the game as Woburn & Wavendon looked for a goal at the other end the visitors scored again late on Cayleigh Jackson on target to make it 4-2 the final score 5-2 with Joanne Makin scoring a late minute penalty.

Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires 2nd in Division Two were hosting 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Reserves in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup another high scoring tie that went all the way to extra-time on Sunday. Megan Kaba with her 1st goal for Royston and a brace from Grace Leslie seeing the visitors score 3. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires also on target with 3 goals in the regulation 90 minutes to see the game extended by 30 minutes. A different story in extra-time as Welwyn Pegasus dominated to power their way into the next round netting 4 more goals to win 7-3. April Spang getting 4 goals in the match with Chemise Huitson, Sophie Mandel and Katherine Calvert with her 1st goal for the club also scoring.

Essex Women’s Premier Division 

A busy Sunday of football across Essex with action from the league and league cup. Hatfield Peverel Ladies keep their 7 point lead at the top of the Essex Women’s Premier Division winning away from home on Sunday taking on bottom side Harlow Town Ladies a 1st half hat-trick from top scorer Yasmin Cowley seeing the 3 points go home with the visitors.

   2nd placed Frontiers Ladies hadn’t played since the end of November their 1st game of 2018 saw them start with a win to resume their pursuit of Hatfield Peverel. Away on Sunday playing Runwell Sports Ladies the sides were drawing 1-1 at half-time before Frontiers went on to score 3 goals in the 2nd half to win the match 4-1. Sharon Ferguson scoring a hat-trick in the game with Jill Bartholomew on target with a goal. Bobbi Cubberley with the goal for Runwell Sports Ladies.

   Chelmsford City Ladies were at home to Eastern Avenue on Sunday the two sides having to settle for a point a piece with the result 0-0 after the 90 minutes. A point enough to move Chelmsford City back into 3rd position in the Premier Division table.

Essex Women’s Division One

New leaders in Essex Women’s Division One after this Sundays results Leigh Ramblers Ladies go top winning at home with leaders Hullbridge Sports Ladies in League Cup action. Away from taking on Walden Ladies, Leigh Ramblers won the game 5-2 to move a point clear at the top of the table. Kim Jeffery with the Walden Ladies goal.

    Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies move back into 3rd position in the Essex Women’s Division One table winning away from home on Sunday playing 5th placed Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves, goals from Daisy Theobald and Fran Pridie securing a 2-0 win.

   That loss for Brentwood Town coupled with a big away win for Rayleigh Town Ladies sees them climb above them into 5th in the Essex Women’s Division One table. Taking on Waltham Forest Ladies, Holly Gash scored 5 times in the match to move her onto 14 for the season. Gash didn’t top score in the game however with captain Isabelle Wallings wading in with a double hat-trick to move her past 30 goals for the season. Eleasha Reeves, Aaryanna Simonelli and Anne Winfield also getting a goal each in a 14-0 win.

Benfleet Villa Ladies are off the bottom of Essex Women’s Division One as they earned a point at home to Billericay Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Lauren Brumpton getting the goal for Benfleet in a 1-1 draw.

Essex Women’s League Cup

The 1st Round of the Essex Women’s League Cup was completed this weekend with 4 ties played. Was a big win away from home for Lawford Ladies then 3rd in the Premier Division against Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves 2nd bottom in Division One. Daisy Canny continuing to find the back of the net with another hat-trick 3 players got a brace in the match Ella Boyden, Sofia Serghiou and Gemma Issacs with a goal each for Tyler Christou and Jamie Newstead in an 11-0 win.

    A big away result too for Premier Division side Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies taking on Division One side FC Clacton Ladies in the 1st Round of the League Cup. Rarely does a write up about Beacon Hill Rovers not feature Jo Smeaton and this one is no exception as she top scored in the game with 5 goals to her name. Marie Hall getting 2 goals, Louise Oliver, Sarah Taylor and Xanthe Davis were also goalscorers in a 10-1 win. Lauren Lucas scoring for FC Clacton. 

Essex Women’s Division One leaders Hullbridge Sports ladies were away in the League Cup 1st Round on Sunday taking on Premier Division side, Hutton Ladies Reserves. All square at half time the sides drawing 1-1. Both going on to score again in the 2nd half it was Hullbridge Sports who progress edging the result 3-2. Captain Danni Dorrington scoring a brace with top scorer Broghan Kelly also getting a goal.

A great result for Alresford Colne Rangers in the 1st Round of the League Cup as they knocked out fellow Division One side Southend United Ladies. A narrow 1-0 lead at half-time Alresford went on to score 3 more goals in the 2nd half as Southend looked to respond to win the game 4-2. Joanne Harvey netting twice with a goal each for Lucie Stanbury and Jasmine Warner for Alresford. Emily Pert and Georgia Raby with the Southend United goals.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Two games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday, 3rd placed Newmarket Town Ladies on the road taking on bottom of the table Park Ladies who hadn’t played a game since the 19th of November. Games in hand on runaway leaders Netherton United Ladies, Newmarket need to convert those into points if they wish to challenge for the title. A comfortable win for the visitors with Abbi Griffin netting a brace, 2 goals too for Sofia Mae Armitage in her 1st start for the club. Chloe Slater, Laura Bailey, Jennifer Gray, Antonia Smith, Brooke Wickens and captain Beth Woodfield were also on the scoresheet in a 10-1 win that moves Newmarket 2 points behind 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies. Amy Newell with the goal for Park Ladies.

   Cambridge City Ladies Development move up to 4th in the Premiership table winning at home against Cambridge University Women. The hosts coming back from 3-2 down to clinch a 6-3 win. 16 year old Yasmin Crow scoring her 1st senior hat-trick, Ellie Cullum also getting 2 goals with Lucy Hurst also finding the back of the net. Amanda Wainwright and Emma Mcloughlin on the scoresheet for Cambridge University.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

 Two matches played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North at the weekend with league leaders Ketton Ladies opening up a 5 point lead at the top of the table scoring plenty of goals along the way too averaging over 5.5 a game in league and cup. A high scoring win on Sunday at home to Spalding United Ladies, Emma Ward netting a hat-trick with Sascha Smith scoring twice , a goal each for Fran Kavanagh and Estelle Bonnamour in a 7-0 victory.

   The 1st game of the season for Riverside Ladies… really. A new and late entrant to the league have been listed in the table for sometime however just hadn’t played till today. Dropping down into the Cambridgeshire league after struggling for numbers in the EMWFL, an unusual move midway through a season but better they survive and regroup rather than fold have alot of games to fit in however. Started with a win at home to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Sophie Harris scoring twice for the hosts their were goals too for Michelle Bark, Diana Olohova, Hannah Stubbs, Jade Ramm, Samantha Woodham and captain Stacey Schreiber in an 8-1 result. 

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

 Histon Ladies Reserves were playing at the Glassworld Stadium for their league match against Isleham United Ladies looking to close the 6 point gap to league leaders Fulbourn Bluebirds Institute in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South. Kirsty Lemmon Sparkes getting 2 more goals for Histon to take her onto 18 for the season from 7 played. Philippa Hayden-Evans moving on to 12 goals also scoring in the match with Samantha Cousins also on target and a debut goal for 16 year old Destiny Robinson a 5-1 win. Laura Todd getting the goal for Isleham.

   The match between Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves and St Ives Town Development was abandoned after minutes with the score at 1-1 due to a serious injury to one of the Newmarket Town players. Wishing the player involved all the best for a speedy recovery.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

Two matches from the group stages in the Division One Cup this Sunday. In Group A Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds were away to Burwell Tigers a comfortable win for the side leading the Championship South. Sharon Pinner getting a hat-trick with goals for Katie Luddy, Emma Clark Cara Deal and Sarah Gee in a 7-0 win.

In Group C the 1st match played in the mini league was a Wisbech derby with Wisbech St Mary hosting Wisbech Town Ladies. After the 90 minutes it was the visitors who had all 3 points in the bag. Jordan Turner scoring her 1st goals for the club getting a brace with a goal each for Chloe Riches and Sophie Gutteridge in a 4-1 win. Amy Magnus on target for Wisbech St Mary.

Suffolk Women’s Division

4 games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday as leaders East Bergholt United win 7-0 for the 2nd successive Sunday to go 8 points clear at the top of the table continuing their 100% winning run. Away to Ipswich Athletic Ladies this Sunday were leading their opponents 3-0 at half-time before going on to add 4 more in the 2nd half. Annie Northwood getting a brace their were goals too for Jessica Quinsee, Millie Wilding, Pippa King, Jessica Oxlade and Cara Savage.

   A 7 goal thriller between 2nd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies and 3rd placed Bacton United Ladies on Sunday, Sophie Crabtree, Lucy Dunnett and Kirsten Hutchings with the goals for away side Brantham Athletic it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game as Bacton United hit 4 goals up the other end to take all 3 points, Francesca Rainbird netting a brace with a goal each for Kirsten Spooner and Lauren Jacobs. The victory moves Bacton United above Brantham Athletic into 2nd spot.

Walsham Le Willows Ladies are well positioned back in 5th to push the sides at the top of the table as they recorded a big win away from home on Sunday against bottom side Hadleigh United Ladies. Walsham Le Willows playing just their 5th league game of the season Norma Locker top scoring in the match getting a hat-trick, there were braces for Lisa Pratt, Laura Brame and Kirsty Pollard with Gemma Carter, Debbie Greeves and Mia Banbury all getting a goal each in a 12-0 win.

   Leiston St Margarets ladies recent good form continues as the 4th lace sides moves level on points with 3rd placed Brantham Athletic winning at home on Sunday taking on AFC Kesgrave Ladies. Michelle Stanborough scoring a hat-trick in the match their were goals too for Lucy Eagles and Sarah Cooper in a 5-0 win.

Norfolk Women’s County Cup

Quarter finals weekend in the Norfolk Women’s County Cup this Sunday 8 teams vying for a place in the semi-finals. Six in the end as for the 2nd successive Sunday Acle United Ladies progress in a cup competition without kicking a ball awarded an away win this time over Aylsham Ladies.

Norfolk Women’s Division One side North Walsham Angels Ladies were at home in the quarter finals of the County Cup taking on ERWFL Division One North leaders, King’s Lynn Town Ladies. The higher league side holding the advantage at half-time with a slender 1-0 lead. King’s Lynn doubling the lead 56 minutes into the 2nd half. North Walsham with a quick reply pulling it back to 2-1 with Hope Middleton on target. The win only secured 5 minutes from time with a goal in the 85th minute. Elle Bocking and a brace from Tiffany Forshaw the scorers for King’s Lynn.

Fakenham Town Ladies also from Norfolk Women’s Division One were also at home to ERWFL Division One North opposition in the quarter finals of the County Cup taking on free scoring Wymondham Town Ladies the visitors with a potent attacking line up had an early lead, Nadine Basson scoring in the 6th minute. Hannah Waters made it 2-0 just 2 minutes later. Two more goals for Waters in the 26th and 32nd minutes saw the lead extended to 4-0 as she completed a 1st half hat-trick. Youngster Mollie O’Callaghan getting a goal with the half-time score 6-0 Basson scoring from the penalty spot. More goals came in the 2nd half for the visitors Laura Nicholls wading in on the goal scoring netting the 7th on 58 minutes. 4 goals then added in 10 minutes as both O’Callaghan and Nicholls completed their hat-tracks. Waters scoring another in the 75th. Not done there Wymondham wrapped up a 15-0 win with 3 goals in the last 5 minutes Alice Ladbrooke and Brooke Cheal each scoring with Basson the 4th Wymondham player in the game to claim a hat-trick.

A strong semi-final line-up is completed by Sprowston Ladies who will see themselves as the underdogs despite leading the way in Norfolk Division One. Were at home in the quarter finals taking on Division Two side, Bure Valley Wildcats Ladies, a dominant 1st half seeing Sprowston leading 6-0. Bure Valley having a better 2nd half restricting the hosts to just one further goal 7-0 the final score. The draw for the semi-finals of the County Cup will be made on Friday.

Norfolk Women’s Division One

Bungay Town Ladies move to within a point of leaders Sprowston Ladies in Norfolk Women’s Division One after beating bottom side Long Stratton Ladies away from home on Sunday. Nicola Hazell scoring a hat-trick along with a goal a piece for Selina Rowland and Samantha Walker securing the 3 points.

    Wymondham Town Ladies were hosting Stalham Town Ladies on Sunday 5th and 6th in the table a point between the sides that remains after the sides played out a 1-1 draw a rare Amii Andrews goal for Stalham Town.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

In Norfolk Women’s Division Two there was just the one match played on Sunday with 3rd placed Tavern Ladies travelling to play Freethorpe Ladies. 2 goals each for Sophie Fuller and Lucy Kean see Tavern consolidate 3rd with a 4-1 win. Rebecca White netting the goal for Freethorpe.

ERWFL Premier Division

Billericay Town Ladies return to the top of the ERWFL Premier Division this Sunday after a big win on the road against fellow Essex side Writtle Ladies. New signing Georgia Box moving onto 10 goals from just 6 appearances hitting the back of the net 4 times. Captain Lindsey Morgan takes her own tally to 15 for the season scoring a brace with Nancy Butler also recently signed netting her 1st goal in a 7-1 victory.

Cambridge City Ladies slip to 2nd in the Premier Division after they salvaged a point late on at home to AFC Sudbury Ladies on Sunday the visitors taking the lead with Megan Partridge netting her 11th goal of the season. Cambridge City created plenty of opportunities 2nd half Sudbury keeping them out until late in the game Carla Penny getting the goal to make it 1-1 and win a point.

Brentwood Town Ladies are up to 4th on the ERWFL Premier Division table having recovered from a slump in form that saw them plummet down the table late in 2017. A mid-table clash at the weekend the Essex side were at home taking on Bedford Ladies. A close contest the sides drawing 0-0 as the match moved into the final 5 minutes Paida Dedza making her 1st appearance of the season getting the winning goal to see Brentwood claim all 3 points. 5 wins from their last 6 games in league and cup for Brentwood now.

ERWFL League Cup

One last tie from the 3rd Round of the League Cup was played this Sunday with Royston Town Ladies at home to Colney Heath Ladies . The sides drawing 0-0 at half-time Royston Town went on to dominate the 2nd half to progress to the quarter finals, Francesca Smithers scoring a hat-trick in the game with a goal each for Sammy Tinsley and Becky Shephard to see the hosts win 5-0.

One game played in the ERWFL Division One North this Sunday with Cambridgeshire side Histon Ladies travelling to Essex to face Silver End United Ladies. Goals from Katie Seagrave and Siobhan White seeing the visitors leading 2-0 at half-time. Both players getting another goal each in the 2nd half. Silver End United getting a goal through Megan Jiggins the final score 4-1 see Histon Ladies move back into 4th place in the table.

ERWFL Division One South

A couple of postponements in ERWFL Division One South at the weekend, leaving just the one game being played and that saw the Stevenage Ladies Reserves juggernaut continue their 100% winning record now into 11 matches. Away to Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies, Daniela Martucci claiming 2 goals in the game with Hannah Marshall, Emily Scofield, Mary Lisle and Emma Marshall all on target with a goal each in a 6-0 win. Now 64 scored and still 0 conceded.

FAWPL Southern Division

Two league games played in the FAWPL Southern Division this Sunday and 3 points at home for 2nd placed Crystal Palace Ladies see them close the gap on leaders Charlton Athletic Women to just 2 points. Hosting Gillingham FC Ladies the 2 sides were goalless at the half-time break Ellie Stenning scoring the opening goal for Crystal Palace then top scorer Gemma Bryan made it 2-0 to the hosts with her 30th goal of the season.

Queens Park Rangers Ladies travelled to Wales on Sunday looking to build on last Sundays win against bottom side Swindon Town Ladies taking on a side just 3 points ahead of them Cardiff City Ladies. It was advantage to the visitors at half-time with QPR leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Dominika Netschova in the 38th minute. Cardiff City finding an equaliser in the 63rd Zoe Atkins finding the back of the net to see the sides take a share of the points. FAWPL Cup

Getting through the ties now with the 2nd Round of the competition heavily affected by the weather in December seeing alot of postponement, the FA Women’s Cup taking precedence last Sunday. Two ties involving sides in the Southern Division and for the 2nd weekend running Charlton Athletic Women were taken into extra-time by their hosts before eventually winning through. Away to one of the sides looking to challenge them for the Southern Division title Charlton were in Essex to play C&K Basildon Ladies. It was Basildon who held the lead at the half-time interval, Angela Addison scoring her 15th goal of the season. It was Charlton’s own top scorer who got the visitors back on level terms 8 minutes into the 2nd half Charlotte Gurr on target with her 23rd of the season. No more goals in the 90 minutes the game went into extra-time and it was another of Charlton’s top shots that scored the winning goal Kit Graham making it 2-1 with her 20th goal of the season.

In the the other all Southern Division tie, Lewes FC Women were at home to Portsmouth FC Ladies in the 2nd Round. Plenty of action in this one, the hosts taking the lead in the 20th minute Portsmouth, Eilidh Currie putting through her own net. Two quickfire goals on the half hour had Lewes storm into a 3-0 lead, captain, Katie McIntyre and then Sarah Kempson scoring. The visitors far from out of it saw Lewes clear twice of the line before the half-time whistle. Rachel Panting was on target for Portsmouth to pull it back to 3-1 on 57 minutes Lewes responding straight away to restore their 3 goal cushion Vicky Carleton with substitute, Georgia Bridges scoring in the last 10 minutes to seal a 5-1 win.

FAWPL Plate

As with the FAWPL Cup competition the Plate was affected too by the weather with 3 ties played this weekend involving sides from the Southern and South East Division One. West Ham United Ladies were on the road in the 2nd Round taking on South West Division One side Brislington Ladies. A brace from Rosie Kmita seeing the Southern Division side leading 2-0 at half-time. The higher league side going on to score more goals 2nd half Molly Peters making it 3-0 on the hour mark. Amber Stobbs and Kelly Wealthall also netting a goal a piece before Kmita wrapped up her hat-trick in the final minutes 6-0 the final score.

Keynsham Town Ladies are going well in South West Division One were away in the 2nd Round of the FAWPL Plate taking on Swindon Town Ladies bottom of the FAWPL Southern Division it was another defeat for Swindon heavy too with Keynsham Town racking up double figures, Kerry Bartlett previously a prolific goal scorer for Cardiff City Ladies scoring 5 of Keynsham Town’s goals in a 10-1 win. Emily Arrell scoring in the 1st half for Swindon.

It was an all Division One clash in the other 2nd Round tie played in the FAWPL Plate at the weekend with South East side Luton Town Ladies hosting their South West counterparts, Southampton Saints Girls & Ladies both at the time 4th in their respective leagues. Natasha Fensome scoring for Luton Town, Jess McKay also scoring to see the hosts hold a 2-0 lead at half-time. Luton extending their lead in the 2nd half with McKay netting her 2nd before Southampton pulled it back to 3-1 with Krystal Whyte scoring the goal Luton going on to win and reach the quarter finals.

FAWPL South East Division One

 4 matches played in the FAWPL South East Division one this Sunday. It was 2nd v 3rd with Leyton Orient WFC away to Milton Keynes Dons Ladies. 4 points between the sides going into the game. It was the hosts who took an early lead in the game with Charly Clarke putting Milton Keynes in front in the 13th minute. Into the last 5 minutes of the 1st half and Leyton Orient pulled it back to 1-1 with Vanessa Wilson getting the goal. Time for Milton Keynes to retake the lead in the 1st half with a minute remaining Louise Naylor on hand to put the ball into the back of the net. 2-1 the half-time score Milton Keynes successfully defending the advantage to claim all 3 points closing the gap on Leyton Orient.

 Ipswich Town Ladies move back into 4th place in the South East Division One table following a big win at home against bottom side Haringey Borough Women on Sunday. Leading 5-0 at half-time the hosts went on to win the game 9-0 to put themselves within reach of the sides above the once again. Sophie Welton (pictured) top scoring in the match with 4 goals. Captain Amanda Crump getting 2 goal in the match too with a goal each for Natasha Thomas, Cassie Craddock and Miagh Downey.

A good result at home for Cambridge United WFC as they put pressure on the sides above them in the top half of the table in 6th were hosting Stevenage Ladies at Mildenhall Town FC on Sunday. Amber Cantwell’s goal the difference between the 2 sides at half-time giving Cambridge the lead. A good contest Stevenage with an opportunity to level from the penalty spot in the 2nd half with Amy Makewell brought down. Chloe Gunn stepping up to score to make it 1-1. Cambridge responding promptly however got up the other end of the pitch and Amy Howlett scored to put the back into the lead and go on to win the game 2-1. 

Norwich City Ladies 2nd bottom in the South East Division One table know they need points on the board if they are to have any hopes of pulling another side down into a scrap at the bottom of the table, were away on Sunday, Denham United Ladies immediately above them in 10th the gap 9 points. Annie Hewitt with the only goal of the 1st half seeing Denham leading 1-0. Into the 2nd half and Denham were awarded a penalty Alissa own stepping up to take and score. Down going on to score a brace to give the home side a 3-0 lead. A great strike from Natasha Snelling 3 minutes from time for Norwich seeing the game end 3-1. Denham moving above Stevenage into 9th, Norwich 10 points adrift of the sides above them but they have been down and out before and turned it around.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

2018 begins with Netherton United Ladies having a commanding 12 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership, losing just one of the 10 league games they played before Christmas. Those sides hoping to catch them have alot of work to do but do have games in hand. St Ives Town Ladies in 2nd place in the table were hosting Netherton United this Sunday with 4 matches in hand on the leaders. St Ives Town enjoying a good first half were leading Netherton 3-0, and despite Netherton pulling 2 goals back in the 2nd half St Ives Town found the back of the net once more to win the game 4-2 and close the gap a little. Georgia Stancombe scoring twice for St Ives Town along with a goal each for Katherine Speed and Hannah Seymour-Shove.

    Another side with plenty of games in hand on Netherton United in the Premiership are 3rd placed Newmarket Town Ladies their 1st game of 2018 just their 6th league match. Were on the road taking on March Town United Ladies in 5th spot. Two strikes from Jordanne Sillitoe seeing Newmarket come away with all three points winning the match 2-1.   They drop to 6th after Cambridge City Ladies Development won at home to climb above them with their 3rd win of the season. Taking on 4th placed ICA Sports Ladies, a goal from Rachel Pearce along with a brace for Rachel Littlewood enough to secure all the points despite Jessica Farchica scoring twice for ICA Sports.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

  Just the one game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North on this 1st Sunday of January. A good result for Ketton Ladies as they move back to the top of the league with victory away to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Both Emma Ward and Fran Kavanagh scoring 2 goals each along with a goal for Claire Lawrenson to seal a 5-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South too this Sunday and another good result for league leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds as they pick up all 3 points away from home against Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves to open up a 6 point gap over 2nd placed Histon Ladies Reserves. Two goals for Marie Stubbings taking her onto 27 for the season along with a goal for Stacey Kemp seeing the visitors win the game 3-0.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division Cup

A new competition introduced this season in Cambridgeshire the Division One Cup. Had very little information on this it involves the Championship sides both North & South. Split into 4 groups with A & B featuring the Championship South sides, groups C & D those in the North. Guessing the top two from each will progress to a quarter final stage but have yet to confirm that. Some group games have taken place, Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds beating Isleham United Ladies to lead Group A which also contains Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves and Burwell Tigers.

   In Group D, Ketton Ladies beat Pinchbeck United Ladies to lead the way Riverside Ladies and Spalding United Ladies are also in Group D.

  Group C contains, Hungate Rovers Ladies, Orton Rangers Ladies, Wisbech St Mary Ladies and Wisbech Town Ladies no games played yet.

  There was one match in the Division One Cup played this Sunday however in Group B containing just 3 sides from the Championship South, St Ives Town Ladies Development hosting Histon Ladies Reserves, a narrow 1-0 advantage for St Ives Town at half-time the 2nd half saw 5 goals shared amongst the sides the teams taking a pint each from the game drawing 3-3. Molly Berryman, Connie Liddiard and captain Georgia Rebane scoring for St Ives Town. Philippa Hayden-Evans, Kirsty Lemmon Sparkes and Lauren Threadgold the goal scorers for Histon Ladies Reserves. St Ives Town lead the group having previously beaten Cambridge Rangers.

Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup

The semi-final line-up for this season’s Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup has now been settled after the final two quarter finals were played this Sunday. Holders Stevenage Ladies were drawn away to Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies in the competition progressed courtesy of a 3-0 win. Goals from Amy Makewell, Ellie Searle and captain Donna McGuigan securing victory.

In the all ERWFL quarter final tie between Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies and Colney Heath Ladies the game went all the way to penalties on Sunday. Rosy Wodhams giving Division One South side Hoddesdon the lead on 13 minutes, Charley Handley doubled the advantage as the game closed in on the half hour mark. Premier Division side Colney Heath mounted a comeback a 40 yard strike from Annie Hickey bringing it back to 2-1 then she scored a 2nd goal to bring it back to 2-2. The tie went into extra-time neither side could find a winning goal it was Hoddesdon who came out on top in the penalty shootout winning it 3-1 to reach the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup semi-finals. Royston Town Ladies and St Albans Ladies complete the last four.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

It was 1st v 2nd at the start of the year in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with leaders St Albans Ladies travelling to 2nd placed Northwood Ladies plenty of goals in this game Michaela Johnson putting St Albans 1-0 up on 12 minutes, Northwood drew level 12 minutes later Emma Steele scoring to make it 1-1. 10 minutes before half-time St Albans retook the lead Chloe Reeves on target. At half-time the lead was 3-1 to St Albans with Eleanor Lovelock scoring in the 40th minute. Francessca Webster got it back to 3-2 for Northwood 15 minutes into the 2nd half before St Albans went on to extend their lead further Katie Graham and Suzanne Reed scoring to make it 5-2. Leanne Jones scoring in the last 5 minutes for Northwood to see the final score 5-3 to St Albans who are now 8 points clear at the top of the Division One table.

In the other match played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this Sunday, Garston Ladies started 2018 with a big win on the road away to bottom side Watton Ladies. Jane Hales scoring 5 goals to move her into double figures for the season. Emma Trill also netting a brace with a goal each for Lucy Zecchin and Katie Sills in a 9-2 win. Elizabeth Dowton and Chloe Jones scoring for Watton Ladies.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Garston Ladies 2nd XI continue to lead the way in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two winning at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles on Sunday two goals from Charley Kelsey along with a strike from Holly Jury enough to edge the result 3-2 in their favour to see the 3 points won. Katie Smith and Shemika Holloway with her 1st goal of the season scoring for Letchworth.

 Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires have Garston Ladies 2nd XI in their sights as they won at the weekend to go 2nd 2 points behind the leaders in Division Two. Ending 2017 in good form with 3 straight league wins Welwyn carried that form into 2018 away to Evergreen Eagles. Chemise Huitson going into double figures with a brace to move onto 11 for the season along with a goal for April Spang seeing the visitors win the game 3-0.

   4th placed Hitchin Town Ladies move onto 13 points for the season 6 behind leaders Garston and well placed to challenge the top 3 in the table. Away to bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues this Sunday it was a close result goals from Bethany Lowe, Jessica McNamara and Hayley Watson enough to win the 3 points for Hitchin Town with a 3-2 win. Molly Churchill and Victoria Harold on target for Woburn & Wavendon.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

One match played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday and it was a big game between 1st and 2nd with Bedford Ladies Development 5 points clear at the top hosting Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies whose good form late in 2017 had propelled them up the table. 2nd half strikes from Cayleigh Jackson and captain Jessica Bunnage seeing Bedford Ladies win the game 2-1 to extend their lead to 8 points at the top of the league. Annya Hall netting the goal for Wheathamstead Wanderers.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Hatfield Peverel Ladies ended a fantastic 2017 top of the Essex Women’s Premier Division having hit the ground running following promotion from Division One have maintained that momentum leading for most of the campaign and began 2018 with another positive result to take them 7 points clear at the top of the table. At home this Sunday taking on 3rd placed Chelmsford City Ladies. A goal in each half for both top scorer Yasmin Cowley and Victoria King seeing Hatfield Peveral win the game 4-1. Megan Bliss scoring the goal for Chelmsford City.

Lawford Ladies are the leagues top scorers now as they took their tally so far in the Premier Division this season to 49 from just 8 matches played. Came out on top at home in a high scoring match at the start of 2018. Hosting Runwell Sports Ladies who found the back of the net for 3 goals themselves. Lawford’s Daisy Canny keeping up her great scoring form this season getting a hat-trick with 2 more goals for new signing Tyler Christou seeing the home side win the game 5-3 the win taking Lawford up into 3rd in the table with 3 games in hand on Hatfield Peverel the gap 9 points.

Essex Women’s Division One

Reformed Hullbridge Sports Ladies ended 2017 with a 100% winning record as they led the way in Essex Women’s Division One began 2018 with a match away to one of their challengers looking to overhaul them at the top of the table another side new to the league this season, Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies ending 2017 in 3rd place in the table. The sides were drawing 0-0 at half-time, goals from captain Danni Dorrington, Broghan Kelly and Jennifer Lyttle seeing Hullbridge Sports go on to win the match 3-1 and take their 100% record to 9 league games.

  Hullbridge Sports aren’t running away with the league however and one defeat yet could see them overhauled at the top. Leigh Ramblers Ladies young guns also new to the league have started well too in 2nd spot with just one defeat in the league the top scorers too and extended their goals scored tally even further after Sunday’s home win over Billericay Town Ladies Reserves. Emily Diwell top scoring in the game with 5 goals. Katherine Newton getting 4 goals too with a goal each for Amber Denton and Sasha Vail to record an 11-1 win. 82 goals from 10 league games for Leigh Ramblers.

   Southend United Ladies another new side this season have also started well up amongst the top 4 move back above Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies into 3rd position with a double figure home win over Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Emily Pert scoring a hat-trick. Lauren Johnson a brace with a goal a piece for Charlotte Anderson, Morgan Hayes and Georgia Raby an own goal seeing the final result 10-0.

Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves ending the year in 5th position in the Essex Women’s Division One table began 2018 on the road short of numbers with just 9 available for the match at bottom side Benfleet Villa Ladies nevertheless began with a positive result both Emma Mackie and Chloe Wilkinson scoring 2 goals each with Clarista Wigley also scoring in a 5-1 win. Rayleigh Town Ladies start the year with a win that moves them into 6th position in the Essex Women’s Division One table. At home on Sunday were facing Alresford Colne Rangers. Holly Gash moving onto 9 goals for the season scoring a hat-trick in the game. Captain Isabelle Wallings the clubs top scorer added two more goals to her tally taking her to 25 for the season with Francessca Browne also scoring from the penalty spot to see Rayleigh Town win the match 6-2. Rae Clancy and Vicki Hall scoring the Alresford Colne Rangers goals.
