Sunday 9th September

 The new season of county league football got underway across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire this Sunday with there once again being 3 divisions, an influx of new sides seeing those swell in number 28 teams in all with 9 in Division One including Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies as well as Garston Ladies 2nd XI and Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires both promoted. Division Two featuring 10 sides with Watton Ladies dropping down, Bedford Ladies Development, Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies, Welwyn Pegasus Azures and Evergreen Ladies all moving up a league. 6 new sides joining Division Three, 9 sides in all, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College LFC, AFC Dunstable Ladies Reserves, Kempston Rovers Ladies, Stotfold Juniors Ladies, Langford Ladies and Buntingford Town Ladies the new names. As is Biggleswade United Ladies who were formerly Shefford Town & Compton Ladies. Woburn Lionesses having just the one side this season. Potters Bar United Ladies a late withdrawal from the league.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

 Two matches taking place in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One on the opening day of the season and it was a great start to the season for Sharnbrook WFC as they started their season at home with victory over Garston Ladies 1st team. Emma Butler scoring twice in the game with Hoffi Pursey and Charlie Mullins also bagging themselves a goal in a 4-1 win.

   Houghton Athletic Ladies also began their league campaign with a home game against last season’s runners-up, Northwood Ladies. The visitors having just the 9 players available at the beginning of the season ran Houghton close nonetheless scoring twice in the match, Houghton coming out on top however clinching a 3-2 win courtesy of a brace from Emily Wilson last season’s top scorer with 24 goals along with an opening game goal for Emily Peat.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

  3 games to start the season in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday and it was a good start to the season for last season’s Division Three Champions, Bedford Ladies Development. Away to Watton Ladies on the opening day came home with a 4-2 win, Jessica Bunnage and Sarah Ridley getting the Bedford goals first half with Amy Butler and Katy Peters making it 4 in the 2nd half. Emma Carter and Gemma Bickell with the goals for Watton Ladies who will be hoping for a better season following last season’s difficult campaign in Division One. 

   Also starting their season with an opening day win are Hitchin Town Ladies, as they secured the win at home against Evergreen Ladies on Sunday. Not quite the way they would have wanted but it was the difference in a close contest, Evergreen unfortunately putting through their own net the goal the 1-0 result going Hitchin Town’s way.

   Elsewhere on the opening day in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two the points were shared between Royston Town Ladies Development and Hitchin Belles. Abby Laughlin and Megan Kaba both scoring a goal each for Royston they couldn’t capitalise allowing Hitchin Belles to get back into the game Shannon Page and Katie White sending the ball into the back of the net to earn the visitors a point in a 2-2 draw. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

A host of new names to kick-off the season in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three and it was a big win for one on the road against another on Sunday. A result Buntingford Town Ladies will want to get out of their system as they as they were soundly beaten at home against AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College LFC. Chloe Urbanowicz getting her season off to a flyer scoring a double hat-trick. Bex Cray also getting an opening game hat-trick. Zara Garrad striking twice with Katie Hay also scoring a goal in a 12-1 victory.

  Langford Ladies were also starting the season at home to another new face in the league with AFC Dunstable Ladies starting up a Reserves side. An encouraging start for the visitors as they picked up all 3 points with a win on the opening day, Maddison Ashford, Kerry Mulvihill-Reed and Bianca Vassell all pouncing for a goal each in a 3-0 win.

A new beginning for Shefford Town & Campton Ladies and with it they will be hoping for better fortunes as they become Biggleswade United Ladies. The new era starting with a win on the opening day away to Kempston Rovers Ladies new to the league. Leeanne Davison scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory for Biggleswade United.

   Another new side joining the league were also celebrating an opening day win on Sunday. Stotfold Juniors Ladies were at home taking on Bedwell Rangers Ladies, scoring twice it was enough to claim all 3 points in a 2-1 win. Rachel Jones scoring for Bedwell Rangers.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

  In last league matches played in the Beds & Herts Women’s Leagues this Sunday. One game left in Division Two. Runners-up spot already secured for Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires in their 1st season under their new name the club growing next season. At home in their final game taking on Evergreen Eagles. April Spang and Katherine Calvert getting a brace each with a goal each for Georgina Harvey and top scorer Chemise Huitson finishing up with 24 goals in a 6-0 final day win. 

Bed & Herts Women’s Division Three

  Two games to wrap up the league season in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three. Welwyn Pegasus Azures also in their debut season securing 3rd position with a home win over Bedwell Rangers on Sunday. Holly Walker scoring a hat-trick for Bedwell Rangers. Janiece Allen way out in front in the scoring charts for Welwyn Pegasus Azures moving onto 36 goals from 17 games for the season as she scored a double hat-trick Welwyn Pegasus Azures winning the game 7-3.

 Those goals were needed too as Evergreen Ladies with a strong finish to the season finish on the same points pushed into 4th on goal difference. Rebecca Freeman netting a hat-trick in their final league fixture away to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets, with Samantha Jackson also on target with a goal in a 4-1 win.

  Two Finals to complete the season at Kempson Rovers FC the League Cup Final at 3:00pm contested between St Albans Ladies & Northwood Ladies proceeded by The Chris Renshaw Cup Final at 11:00am between Sherrardswood Ladies & Letchworth Garden City Eagles.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

  This Sunday saw the final of the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup being played at Biggleswade United FC. Holders Luton Town Ladies playing Bedford Ladies. It was Luton Town who opened the scoring going in front in the 20th minute Joanne Rutherford scoring. Luton didn’t build on their lead and were reduced to 10 players shortly before half-time with Rachel Kosky sent off.

   Bedford with the player advantage in the 2nd period levelled the scores up midway through the half Eden Kibron brought down inside the box she scored the resulting penalty. Carissa Kaczorowski putting Bedford into the lead. Kibron adding her 2nd of the game six minutes later to see Bedford go 3-1 up and win this season’s County Cup.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

The final game the league for new Beds & Herts Women’s Division One Champions, St Albans Ladies finish the season unbeaten winning 11 of their 14 games the last against Sharnbrook WFC. Eleanor Lovelock challenging for top scorer getting a hat-trick to move onto 15 for the season. Ellen Slater and Michaela Johnson also getting a goal each in a 5-1 win. Hoffi Pursey scoring for Sharnbrook WFC.

   Garston Ladies with a 4-1 victory at home to Sherrardswood Ladies move above them to into 3rd position in the league with one game left to play a positive result at home to Flitwick Ladies seeing them secure the position.

  Houghton Athletic Ladies might yet nick 3rd spot in 5th are 3 points back on Garston with one game left to play. Did their goal difference a massive boost with a big win at home to bottom side Watton Ladies on Sunday. Holly Thomson scoring 4 goals in the match, Shakeela Hussain netting a hat-trick there was a brace for Emily Peat and a goal for Emily Wilson. With Ciara Craig returning to the side from injury also scoring a brace in a 12-1 win.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Garston Ladies 2nd XI got the points they needed to see them crowned Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two Champions on Sunday. A t home to Hitchin Town Ladies in 3rd a goal each for Lauren Berryman and Leah Crockett saw them win the match 2-0. 

The result means Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires who were waiting in the wings for a slip up are confirmed as Division Two runners-up with Hitchin Town finishing 3rd.

   Letchworth Garden City Eagles in 5th were playing their last league match of the season at home to Evergreen Eagles on Sunday a win would have seen them pinch 4th position from Royston Town Ladies Development, however they were held to a draw, Tayla Murray and Shemika Holloway scoring a goal each Evergreen Eagles responding in kind to see the match finish 2-2.

  Letchworth Garden City Eagles have a cup final to look forwards to taking on Sherrardswood Ladies for The Chris Renshaw Cup on Sunday May 13th at Kempston Rovers FC that match followed by the League Cup Final between St Albans Ladies & Northwood Ladies.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Two matches played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One on Sunday. St Albans Ladies having already become league champions not in action. Northwood Ladies secured 2nd spot winning away from home on Sunday in their debut season. Against Sharnbrook WFC, Northwood were drawing 0-0 with the Bedfordshire side after the 1st half came on strong in the 2nd period. Danielle Taylor opening the scoring after 65 minutes. Emma Steele making it 2-0 with 15 minutes left on the clock her goal was soon followed by a goal from Leanne Jones, Scarlett Keightley also getting on the scoresheet in the final 10 minutes. A 4-0 win for Northwood in their final league game of the season. The League Cup Final against St Albans to come on the 13th May.

 It was 4th versus 5th in the league with Houghton Athletic Ladies hosting Garston Ladies in Division One on Sunday. Emily Wilson with a goal for Houghton Athletic it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game as Garston scored twice up the other end to claim all 3 points.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two the title battle is going all the way to the final fixtures with just 2 points between league leaders Garston Ladies and 2nd placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires. Both now on 13, Garston not in action this Sunday. Welwyn Pegasus were at home playing Hitchin Belles. Top scorer Chemise Huitson scoring 4 goals in the game to move her onto 23 for the season for Welwyn Pegasus. April Spang also on target with a brace her 16th & 17th goals of the season. Ellie Burke also getting a goal in a 7-0 victory. Welwyn Pegasus are at home in their final game on 6th May against Evergreen Eagles, Garston play the weekend before at home to Hitchin Town Ladies victory would ensure them the title.

Hitching Town Ladies are finishing the season strongly however as they move up into 3rd place in the Division Two table with a 3rd successive league win away to Evergreen Eagles this Sunday. Jessica McNamara scoring twice in the game the top scorers for Hitchin Town with 21 goals. Mandy Cain-Murnane getting the other goal in a 3-0 win.

Royston Town Ladies Development were at home playing their final game of the season on Sunday at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles. The sides playing out a 1-1 draw Grace Leslie with the goal for Royston Town, Emily Jamieson for Letchworth who remain 2 points behind Royston Town in 5th spot with a game to play this Sunday at home to Evergreen Eagles.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Final league match of the season in Division Three for the top two Bedford Development Ladies and Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies both tied at the top on 30 points going into their last league games. Bedford having the advantage on goal difference having a tough one at home to 3rd placed Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Wheathamstead Wanderers away to Bedwell Rangers. 

  Janiece Allen is the main goal threat for Welwyn Pegasus Azures and so true it proved again this weekend for Bedford as despite scoring twice they suffered defeat for just the 2nd time this season with Allen netting another hat-trick to take her onto 30 for the season scoring in the 5th, 64th and 82nd minute. Bedford having lead for much of the season ending up in runners-up spot.

  That is because Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies got the vital 3 points at Bedwell Rangers Ladies to see them clinch the Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three title, convincing winners too as they beat their opponents 9-2 to win the 3 points and finish top of the table.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

 Newly crowned Beds & Herts Division One Champions, St Albans Ladies travelled to Houghton Athletic Ladies one of the few sides to take points off the unbeaten league leaders so far this season. Houghton Athletic taking the lead in the match with Emily Wilson scoring the goal. St Albans came back to level just before the break with Michaela Johnson on target with the goal. The Visitors going on to claim the win in the 2nd half with 20 minutes played Eleanor Lovelock found the back of the net for what would prove to be the winning goal. A 2-1 win one match left for St Albans in the league then the League Cup Final.

 St Albans opponents in the League Cup Final will be Northwood Ladies and they moved back into 2nd place in the Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with a big win away to then 2nd placed Sherrardswood Ladies. Goals from Leanne Jones and Aliyah Ahmed seeing Northwood leading 2-0 at half-time. Emma Steele put the visiting side 3-0 up midway through the 2nd half. Victoria Liebermann and Danielle Taylor adding further goals in the last 20 minutes to see Northwood clinch the 3 points with a 2-0 win. Both sides win one game left Northwood have a 2 point advantage now a win away to Sharnbrook WFC this coming Sunday will secure runners-up spot. 

 The bottom two met in the league in Division One this Sunday, Watton Ladies hosting Flitwick Ladies both promoted to the league last season have had a difficult campaign. Neither with a win, 3 draws for Flitwick they were celebrating a win at the final whistle. Goals from Kierra Gabriel, Jessica Pitts and Kelly Lee seeing Flitwick run out 3-1 winners. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

 In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two leaders Garston Ladies 2nd XI needed a win from either of their last two league matches to secure the title 8 points clear of 2nd placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires they travelled to play Hitchin Town Ladies this Sunday. The home side taking the lead 15 minutes into the match Jessica McNamara scoring the goal. McNamara making it 19 goals to her name for the season 10 minutes later as she doubled Hitchin Town’s lead. 2-0 up at half-time Garston pulled a goal back early in the second half with Lauren Berryman putting the ball into the goal for her 22nd of the season. Setting up a tense 2nd half Garston couldn’t find a levelling goal, Hitchin Town adding to their lead in the final minute Hayley Watson with the goal to see them win 3-1. The side meet in the reverse fixture in a fortnights time. 

  Good news for 2nd placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires as they record a big home win over bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues to close the gap to Garston to 5 points with a game in hand and over haul them on goal difference too. April Spang netting a hat-trick in the match, Sophie Mandel getting a brace their were goals too for Chemise Huitson, Patience Ndlovu, Milan Johnston, Georgina Harvey and Ellie Burke in a 10-2 win. Two home games left for Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires against Hitchin Belles and Evergreen Eagles. Georgie Payne and Sally Green scoring the goals for Woburn.

 5th placed Letchworth Garden City Eagles picked up all 3 points at home to 6th placed Evergreen Eagles on Sunday. Emily Jamieson netting twice with Natalie Moey scoring her 13th goal of the season in a 3-0 victory. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 With a game in hand on league leaders Bedford Ladies Development in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, 2nd placed Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies came unstuck away to Shefford Town & Campton Ladies this Sunday losing the game 3-1 to leave both sides level on 30 points with one game left to play. Shefford Town & Campton playing their final fixture of the season ending on a high picking up a good win, Sarah King getting on the scoresheet for two goals. Leanne Davison also scoring a goal.

   Evergreen Ladies in 4th place in the table move level on points with 3rd placed Welwyn Pegasus Azures as they won at home against them this Sunday. Samantha Jackson with a hat-trick taking her onto 12 for the season. Natalie Maher also netting twice moving onto 10 for the season as Evergreen secured the 3 points with a 5-2 win. Welwyn Pegasus Azures goals coming from their top scorer Janiece Allen who has 27 goals now from 15 appearances. Both sides have 2 games left to play.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

St Albans Ladies are the Champions! Winning the Beds & Herts Women’s Division One title with two games to spare as results went their way this Sunday to ensure no one could catch them at the top of the table. Unbeaten in the 12 matches played so far have been in front since the start of the season looking strong throughout. 

  An away trip to Garston Ladies this Sunday for St Albans Ladies, Suzanne Read scoring in the opening minute for the visitors her 10th of the season. Garston Ladies scoring twice, Read added her 2nd of the match in the 70th minute to see the sides take a share of the points. The 2-2 draw enough in the end for St Albans as Sherrardswood Ladies needed maximum points from their remaining fixtures to challenge suffering defeat St Albans can no longer be caught.

  Congratulation’s to St Albans Ladies on their title successive. Could yet be a league and cup double to with the League Cup Final against Northwood Ladies coming up on Sunday 13th May.

  A blow for Sherrardswood Ladies this Sunday as they played a double header with Houghton Athletic Ladies. Goals from Shakeela Hussain, Emily Wilson and Emily Peat seeing Houghton Athletic Ladies pick up the 3 points in the first game as the ran out 3-0 winners. Sherrardswood Ladies getting the better of Houghton Athletic in the 2nd game again 3 goals were scored early in the match all by Sherrardswood Laurie Marris and Laura Cousins putting the goals in the right end whilst an own goal gifted Houghton Athletic a goal. The 2-1 win lifting Sherrardswood above Northwood Ladies into 2nd place in the Division One table a point between them both with 2 games left face each other this coming Sunday.

  Also in Division One, Sharnbrook WFC were at home to bottom side Watton Ladies this Sunday. A comfortable 5-0 win for the hosts winning their 4th league match of the season had 5 different names on the scoresheet with, Victoria Boyde, Gemma Franklin, Mel Harradine, Charlie Mullins and Hoffi Pursey all getting a goal.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two the title is now within touching distance for leaders Garston Ladies 2nd XI. Open up an 8 point lead at the top after a good away win against 2nd placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires on Sunday. Holly Jury with 2 of their goals as Garston Ladies won the game 3-0. A blow for Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires own title ambitions still have a game in hand on Garston Ladies with 9 points still to play. Garston Ladies with an 8 point lead have 2 left play.

   Also in Division Two this Sunday, Letchworth Garden City Ladies picked up all 3 points away from home against Hitchin Belles. The 5th placed side scoring the only goal of the game. Alyce Williams the player putting the ball into the back of the net. Closes Letchworth up to the sides immediately above them and with 3 left to play a top 3 finish is most certainly on.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three the title is between leaders Bedford Ladies Development and 2nd placed Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies. Both ending the weekend on 30 points. Comfortable home wins for both. Bedford Ladies Development were hosting Evergreen Ladies who scored twice with Samantha Jackson on target for both goals. Katie Wisson netting her first goal for Bedford Ladies in the 1st half. Paige Abraham also getting a goal in the 1st half went on to score her hat-trick in the 2nd her 3rd goal in the 89th minute. A goal to for Sarah Ridley in the 70th minute too also her first for the side this season seeing Bedford Ladies win the game 5-2.

  Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies were hosting Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets on Sunday a 6-1 victory their 10th of the season. Level on points with Bedford Ladies, Wheathamstead Wanderers crucially have 2 games left to play whilst their title rivals have just one.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

An extra-time winner for Northwood Ladies saw them reach the final of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup in their debut season this Sunday and will face St Albans Ladies in the final on Sunday 13th May. A clash between the top two currently in Division One. Northwood were drawn away to the current league cup holders Houghton Athletic Ladies in the semi-finals. A goal from, Holly Thomson for Houghton Athletic and a goal for Northwood scored by Emma Steele saw the sides drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes were up the match heading into extra-time. The winning goal coming early in the 2nd period of extra play, Zamina Rahemtulla scoring the goal to send Northwood into the League Cup Final.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

Also semi-final time in The Chris Renshaw Cup this Sunday. Division One side Sherrardswood Ladies at home to Division Two high flyers, Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires. A 9 goal thriller between the sides saw the winner coming deep into extra-time. Laurie Marris scoring twice for Sherrardswood in the 1st half her 1st goal from the penalty spot the Division One side found themselves trailing 3-2 at half-time. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires battling to keep their lead 2nd half, Marris found the back of the net for the 3rd time to complete her hat-trick with less than 10 minutes left to play 3-3 after the 90 the game heading into extra-time. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires retook the lead early in the extra period but again Sherrardswood came back Victoria Little making it 4-4 the game looking to be heading for penalties, Sherrardswood scored again at the death, Manjinder Atwal with the winning goal to put the Division One side through the the final. A crushing end to the match for Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires their goal scorers, Chemise Huitson, Ellie Burke and April Spang with a brace.

In the other semi-final in The Chris Renshaw Cup, it was an all Division Two clash with Hitchin Town Ladies hosting Letchworth Garden City Eagles. The visitors holding the advantage at half-time Letchworth leading 1-0. Hitchin Town coming straight back into the match with the equaliser 2 minutes after the restart, Emma Chaffey with the goal. On 63 minutes Letchworth got back into the lead and this time kept Hitchin Town from scoring again to win the match 2-1 and reach the final against Sherrardswood Ladies, again scheduled for Sunday 13th May, Tayla Murray and Simone Leah Straughn scoring the Letchworth goals.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Two matches in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this Sunday. Leaders St Albans Ladies are almost their are now just 1 win away from becoming league champions, on 29 points only 3rd placed Sherrardswood who can yet reach 31 points can catch them. A league and cup double very much in the sights for St Albans they were away to Flitwick Ladies this weekend. Goals from Sophie Lawrence, Katie Grehan and Suzanne Read seeing St Albans to a 3-0 half-time lead. Read netting her 2nd of the match early in the 2nd half to make it 4-0, Kerry Twigg also getting in on the scoring to extend the lead further, Flitwick pulling a goal back with 15 minutes left, Zoe Jayne Barber on target. St Albans winning 5-1.

  A huge win at home for Garston Ladies on Sunday against bottom side Watton Ladies saw them move up to 4th in the Division One table. Both Jane Hales and Emma Trill getting 5 goals each in the game. Bobbi Rhodes also grabbing herself a brace with a goal each for Kelly Spencer and Katie Sills in a 14-0 win.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

One match in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday, 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development coming out on top in an 8 goal contest at home to Evergreen Eagles to move level on points with 2nd placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires. Jazmin Racher scoring a hat-trick for Royston Town, Samantha Takis netting a hat-trick for Evergreen Eagles. Goals from Harriet Smith and Paige Rolfe seeing Royston Town claim all 3 points with a 5-3 victory.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 Two games in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three on Sunday. 3rd placed Welwyn Pegasus Azures were away to Bedwell Rangers Ladies. Janiece Allen once again in fine goal scoring form as she claimed a 1st half hat-trick before going to add a further two goals in the 2nd half to take her onto 25 for the season. Sophie Clarke also scoring in the 1st half for Welwyn Pegasus Azures with Tulin Rufaioglu getting a brace in the 2nd half. Georgia Miller scoring late in the match for Bedwell Rangers. 8-1 the final score Welwyn Pegasus Azures playing the 2nd half with 10 players too after Chantel Joseph was red carded late in the 1st half.

Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup

 The first Cup Final played in the East this Sunday the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup at The County Ground, Letchworth. Women’s Football East was there too to watch Stevenage Ladies the current holders playing in their 4th successive county cup final looking to retain the trophy for the first time up against Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies who had reached the final of the competition for the 1st time. 

  Two leagues between the sides Stevenage Ladies playing in the FAWPL South East Division One starting the game well and opened the scoring in the 16th minute Amy Makewell sending a low drive from outside the box into the bottom corner of the net. Found nearly the same spot again soon after to make it 2-0 before midfielder Chloe Gunn broke forwards to make it 3-0 then added another herself from a well taken free-kick 25 yards from goal.

  Introduced late in the 1st half substitute Ashleigh Deacon scored a quickfire brace to extend Stevenage’s lead before Makewell when on to complete her hat-trick. Leah Littlechild receiving the ball from Nicole Emmings to score Stevenage’s 8th goal to successfully retain the County Cup for the 1st time.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

 The first of the semi-final of this years Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup took place this Sunday with St Albans Ladies leading Division one at home to fellow league side Sharnbrook WFC. A great start for the hosts going 2-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes with Michaela Johnson and Katie Grehan on target. Sharnbrook pulling a goal back, St Albans extending their lead on the half hour with a goal from Sophie Lawrence. Their lead at half-time 4-1 with Nicola Dark scoring late in the 1st half.

  Sharnbrook getting it back to 4-2 early in the 2nd half. Eleanor Lovelock restoring St Albans 3 goal lead in the 57th minute. Into the final 10 minutes Ellen Slater running through to score St Albans 6th goal. Sharnbrook adding another goal at the death, time for St Albans to reply, Grehan with her 2nd of the game in stoppage time. 7-3 the final score as St Albans celebrate reaching this season’s League Cup Final the double on!

 Houghton Athletic Ladies the current holders of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup meet Northwood Ladies at home this coming Sunday in the 2nd semi-final.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

 Two matches in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this Sunday. 3rd placed Sherrardswood Ladies close the gap to 2nd placed Northwood Ladies to just 2 points still with 2 games in hand as they secured all 3 points at home to Garston Ladies this Sunday. Goals in the 2nd half from Laurie Marris and Laura Cousins securing a 2-1 victory for the hosts.

   Houghton Athletic Ladies move up from 6th to 4th in the Beds & Herts Women’s Division One table with a 2-1 home win against Flitwick Ladies on Sunday. Scoring all 3 of the goals in the match and own goal cancelled out with goals for Shakeela Hussain and Eireann O’Donoghue her 1st goal for Houghton Athletic. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

 One match played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two this Sunday. Leaders Garston Ladies 2nd XI were at home taking on Evergreen Eagles. Top scorer Lauren Berryman moved onto 21 goals for the season as she netted a brace in the match with Maxine Hotz also finding the back of the net in a 3-1 victory to move Garston into a 5 point lead at the top of the table. Amber Charlton scoring the goal for Evergreen Eagles.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 One match also in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three with Evergreen Ladies at home to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets. Both sides level on points on 13 in 5th and 4th respectfully going into the match. A brace from Natalie Maher enough to secure all 3 points for Evergreen Ladies in a 2-1 win that takes them 3 points clear into 4th spot in the table.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

St Albans Ladies maintained their 5 point lead at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One as they came out on top in a 7 goal thriller at home to Sharnbrook WFC on Sunday. Ellen Slater handing St Albans an early lead the hosts found themselves trailing by half-time as goals from Emily Clark and Charlie Mullins saw Sharnbrook into a 2-1 lead. A complete turn around in the 2nd half as Eleanor Lovelock scored the equalising goal to make it 2-2 a minute in. By the 52nd minute St Albans were leading 3-2 Kiran Reyat with the goal. Sharnbrook coming back to level it at 3-3 with 20 minutes left to play Gemma Franklin on target. The match was won in the last 10 minutes with Jessica Cavaree making it 4-3 to St Albans in the 83rd minute.

   Defeat for Sharnbrook coupled with a big win away from home sees Garston Ladies move above them into 4th place in the Division One table. Garston were away to Flitwick Ladies in Sunday. A brace for both Jane Hales and Lucy Zecchin helping Garston to a convincing result. Katie Sills, Caroline Tenebaum and Emma Trill also getting on the scoresheet an own goal seeing the final score 8-2 to Garston. Faye Moxon along with a penalty strike from Kierra Gabriel the goalscorers for Flitwick.

   Houghton Athletic Ladies won for the 3rd time this season away to bottom side Watton Ladies on Sunday to move right up behind the sides in mid-table and have games in hand on everybody too. Emily Wilson took her season’s tally to 20 with a brace against Watton. Shakeela Hussain and Rachel Spendelow also getting a goal each in a 4-0 win.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A good weekend on the road for Garston Ladies as their 2nd XI returned to the top of Beds & Herts Division Two with a narrow away win against Hitchin Belles on Sunday. Over turning a 2-1 half-time deficit to win the match 3-2. Amy Jack and Katie White putting Hitchin Belles into the lead 1st half. A brace from Garston’s top scorers Lauren Berryman along with a goal for Maddie Gorton securing the 3 points for Garston.

   Also in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday Evergreen Eagles were away to bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues. A convincing result seeing Evergreen Eagles win for the 3rd time this season. Christie Brewer with a hat-trick with a goal each for Paige Lacey-Akers and Samantha Takis in a 5-0 victory. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

One match played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday. Evergreen Ladies at home to Bedwell Rangers Ladies. Goals from Natalie Maher and Rebecca Freeman helping Evergreen to a 2-1 win.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

Elsewhere across the Beds & Herts Women’s Football League this Sunday it was the quarter finals of The Chris Renshaw Cup. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires reaching the last four without kicking a ball as they were awarded the home win against Shefford Town & Campton Ladies.

Hitchin Town Ladies are also through to the last four of The Chris Renshaw Cup after they won at home against Division Three side Bedford Ladies Development on Sunday. The visitors taking an early lead in the game however going 1-0 up inside 3 minutes. Chances for both sides followed in a busy opening to the game Hitchin Town awarded a penalty in the 9th minute Emma Chaffey stepping up to put the Division Two side level. Into the final 6 minutes of the 1st half and Hitchin Town got their noses in front Jessica McNamara putting the ball into the back of the net. 2-1 at half-time Chaffey scored from a corner to put Hitchin Town 3-1 up 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Midway through the 2nd half Hayley Watson was on hand to put the ball home from a rebound to secure a 4-1 win for Hitchin Town.

    Also into the last four of The Chris Renshaw Cup are Letchworth Garden City Eagles after they won away from home to Division Three side Welwyn Pegasus Azures on Sunday. Alyce Williams scoring a brace for Division Two Letchworth Natalie Moey and Tayla Murray were also on target for a goal each in a 4-0 win.

A trio of Division Two sides into the last four of The Chris Renshaw Cup they are joined by Division One side Sherrardswood Ladies after the overcame in form Division Three side, Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies away from home on Sunday in the quarter finals. Sherrardswood taking an early lead in the match Laurie Marris putting them 1-0 up inside the 1st minute. That was how the scored remained right up till the hour when Sherrardswood were given the opportunity to double their advantage from the penalty spot. Marris with the spot kick putting the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0 and see Sherrardswood into the semi-finals.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

 Semi-finals weekend in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup this Sunday. Luton Town Ladies dominating the competition in recent season’s were at home taking on local rivals AFC Dunstable Ladies. A league between the sides Luton Town had already knocked Dunstable out of the FA Women’s Cup earlier in the season 4-0 then it was much tighter this time around. 0-0 at the break Luton Town took the lead in the 2nd half Nicola Henman’s cross turned into the back of the opposition net for an own goal. 1-0 soon became 2-0 as Luton Town were awarded a penalty Zara Carroll stepping up to score from the spot. Samaira Khan pulling it back to 2-1 with 10 minutes left gave the visitors hope of getting back into the game, Luton Town held out to reach the final once again.

  Luton Town Ladies opponents in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup Final will be Bedford Ladies. The ERWFL Premier Division side coming out on top against Houghton Athletic Ladies from Beds & Herts Women’s Division One. Bedford progressing courtesy of a 4-0 win in the finish with 4 different names in the scoresheet with a goal, Olivia-Rose Cunningham, Carissa Kaczorowski, Eden Kibron and Zoe Molloy. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

A good weekend for Beds & Herts Women’s Division One leaders St Albans Ladies and that was without kicking a ball as their closest rivals 2nd placed Northwood Ladies lost for the 3rd time this season away to Garston Ladies who themselves won for just the 3rd time this season. The home side winning the match 3-2 thanks to a last minute free-kick. Garston winning the match despite Northwood scoring twice in the last 20 minutes through Danielle Taylor and Leanne Jones. 

  For the 2nd successive Sunday, Flitwick Ladies earned a point another good result away from home this time up against Sharnbrook WFC. The game finishing 0-0 to sides sharing the points Flitwick with 6 games left to play will look to build on their recent performances to try and get their 1st league win of the season. Sharnbrook remain in 4th place in the table have 5 left to play.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

New leaders in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two as, Welwyn Pegasus Ladies move into top spot ahead of Garston Ladies 2nd XI who saw their match at home at the weekend postponed. Welwyn Pegasus were at home to 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development who themselves could have gone top of the table with a win. A competitive tussle the sides sharing 10 goals between them. A hat-trick for Becky Shephard for Royston Town, along with a goal for Megan Evers, 4 goals weren’t enough however to take anything from the game as the hosts found the back of their net for 6 goals. Top scorer Chemise Huitson scoring 5 goals in the match to move onto 17 for the season. Georgina Harvey getting the other goal to ensure the 3 points were won. Remains very tight at the top of the Division Two table. 

  Hitchin Town Ladies moving right back up onto the tails of the top 3 as they won the Hitchin derby away to Hitchin Belles on Sunday. A close 1st half seeing the sides drawing 0-0 at the break it was Hitchin Belles who opening the scoring a minute into the 2nd half Katie White with the goal. On the hour Hitchin Town equalised, Emma Chaffey putting the ball home after a Jessica McNamara effort came back off the post. McNamara herself then scored to give the visitors the lead with 20 minutes left to play. Dani Friel extending the lead to 3-1 with a goal inside the last 10 minutes. Late hope for Hitchin Belles of rescuing a point a White struck again to reduce the deficit to 2-3 Hitchin Town holding on for the 3 points. Just 4 points between the top 4 in the table.

In 5th place in the Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two table Letchworth Garden City Eagles won for the 5th time this season away to bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues on Sunday. A 2-0 win seeing the 3 points go to the away side.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Also very tight at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three as Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies win their 3rd straight league match to move level on points with Bedford Ladies Development on Sunday, 4 wins if you include the cup. Wheathamstead were away to Evergreen Ladies, Sophia Pidgeon moving onto 32 goals for the season as she found the back of the net for 5 goals in a 6-1 victory. Mary Quest also a goal for the visitors her 1st for Wheathamstead. A first goal too for Bianca Contonicola for Evergreen Ladies.

   2 points dropped for leaders Bedford Ladies Development as they had to settle for a share of the points away to 4th placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets on Sunday. 0-0 at half-time, Bedford captain Jessica Bunnage scored early in the 2nd half to give the visitors the lead her 16th of the season. Charlotte Demmon equalising for Woburn & Wavendon midway through the half with her 7th goal of the season.

   Was also a draw between Shefford Town & Campton Ladies in 5th at home to bottom side Potters Bar United Ladies on Sunday. 2-2 the final score Mandy Morgan with both goals for Potters Bar United who are the first side this season to play out their league fixtures. A tough season some close defeats early on no points on the board ended strongly earning 5 of their 6 points in their last 3 matches a positive end to their season.
