Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

A lovely weekend for football in Cambridgeshire as it was across the whole of the country. The Women’s League Cup competition reaching the knockout stages with 3 of the 4 quarter finals taking place this weekend. The 8 sides coming through the group stages finishing 1st or 2nd in their group to progress a number of Championship sides amongst the last 8.

Ketton Ladies with a 100% record leading the Championship North were away this Sunday a tough challenge in the League Cup were taking on Premiership side Cambridge City Ladies Development. Ketton are full of confidence right now, Cambridge City keen to lift some silverware this season vying for the title in their own league. It turned out to be a close game with just a single goal settling it. Bella Simmons with the all important goal to send Cambridge City Ladies into the last 4 of the competition.

An all Premiership clash saw March Town Ladies at home to Cambridge University Women in the quarter finals of the League Cup this Sunday. Nothing to separate the sides at half-time with the scores level at 1-1. Emma Searle with her 7th of the season scoring for March. Cambridge University going on to score two more goals in the 2nd period to win the game 3-1 to advance into the semi-finals. Amanda Wainwright on target for her 7th of the season with Lu Liu also on the scoresheet along with a first goal for the club for Freja Ekman.

In the other League Cup quarter final match played this weekend it was raining goals between Championship South leaders Haverhill Rovers Ladies and Wisbech Town Ladies fighting with Ketton Ladies for the Championship North title. Wisbech struggling with players injured playing with 11 sometimes 10 dug deep against Haverhill the sides drawing 3-3 after 90 minutes, the extra-time that followed no less dramatic with a further 6 goals scored. Wisbech edging Haverhill out in the dramatic encounter winning through to the semi-finals with a 7-5 victory. Sophie Swinden finding the back of the net for 4 goals, Leah Hall, Chloe Stanborough and captain Faye Kowalewsky also getting a goal each. Joeli Kirby, Haverhill’s top scorer netting a brace, along with captain Amy Evans with Julie Brown also scoring.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup

One other cup game playing in the county this Sunday saw Premiership side Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds Ladies at home playing Burwell Tigers Ladies from the Championship South in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup. A brace each for Marie Stubbings and Sharon Pinner as well as a goal for Katie Luddy seeing Fulbourn ease through to the next round with a 5-1 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One league game played in Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday with 3rd placed side Cardea Ladies travelling to play Hungate Rovers Ladies. Captain Laura Rudd putting the visitors into the lead inside 5 minutes. Hungate coming back to level the scores 10 minutes later. Cardea retaking the lead in the final minute of the 1st half with Jessica O’Sullivan scoring. A good start to the 2nd half saw Cardea go 3-1 up with Nicola Anderson getting on the scoresheet. Hungate pulled it back to 3-2 with 53 minutes played, Cardea soon regaining their 2 goal lead with Courtney Coles making her 1st start making it 4-2. Hungate ensuring a nervy finish to the game as they got it back to 4-3 with 15 minutes left Cardea holding on for the win and 3 points a 2nd successive league win seeing them move 4 points clear of 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

One game played too in the Championship South, which sees Cambridge Rangers WFC up to 2nd in the table going 3 points clear of St Ives Town Development with a 4th successive league win. Were at home taking on Isleham United Ladies for the 2nd successive week. A 5-1 win last weekend, an even better scoreline this weekend the 3 points won courtesy of an 8-0 result. Lauren Lock with one goal to her name before the game putting the ball past the keeper for 4 goals this Sunday. A hat-trick too for Vanessa Martinez with Zoe Newberg also on the scoresheet celebrating her first Cambridge Rangers goal.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup

Semi-final weekend in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup, two contrasting results that will see a repeat of last seasons final with Cambridge City Ladies defending the trophy they won taking on Cambridge United WFC who will just a determined to win it back. They get on like a house on fire and don’t do anything to wind each other up… well … I tried.

Cambridge United WFC faced a testing opponent in their semi-final at home on Sunday were taking on St Ives Town Ladies, leading the way in ERWFL Division One unbeaten so far in the league this season working hard to become another leading women’s football side in the county. Cambridge United playing two league above in FAWNL South East Division One. Mollie Coupar getting onto the end of a free-kick from the left to put the ball over the line from close range to open the scoring for Cambridge inside the opening 5 minutes. There were few chances after that with Cambridge pressing St Ives keeping them at bay couldn’t find a reply up the other end Coupar’s goal enough to send Cambridge through to another Invitation Cup Final.

Cambridge City Ladies are unbeaten at the top of the ERWFL Premier Division with just 2 league points dropped to date, the ambition the title and with it promotion to the FAWNL themselves. Defending the Invitation Cup just as important are scoring and have plenty of goalscorers in their squad. Were away in the semi-finals of the competition taking on Wisbech Town Ladies, playing 3 leagues below in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North have goals in their side too, Cambridge City however proving too strong an opponent on the day. Carla Penny top scoring in the match netting 4 goals. 3 players all scoring a brace each, Lauren Tomlinson, Sarah Mosley and Erin Davies. Laura Mills, Amy Reed and Shannon Shaw also finding the back of the net for a goal each in a 13-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

ICA Sports Ladies climb back to the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership after they were awarded the win over Netherton United Ladies. One game taking place in the league on Sunday saw 3rd placed Cambridge University Women at home to bottom side Riverside Ladies. Lidiya Mykhaylechko netting a brace for Cambridge University Lu Liu scoring her 1st goal for the club and another on debut in a 4-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One match too played in Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday with table toppers Ketton Ladies looking to make it 8 win from 8 and go 3 points clear at the top as they travelled to Hungate Rovers Ladies. Fran Kavanagh scoring another hat-trick for Ketton one from the penalty spot. There were braces too for Beth Goodman and Claire Lawrenson in a 7-1 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

The Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South table is a league of two halves, the six sides split into 2 groups the bottom 3 all with a single win on the board each the top three all in the hunt for the title itself. Haverhill Rovers Ladies 6 points clear, 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development on 18 points with 2 games in hand, a 18 points too for 3rd placed Cambridge Rangers WFC who have a game in hand on Haverhill in a strong position should either of the top two slip up. A sixth win of the season coming at home on Sunday against Isleham United Ladies in the only game in the division on Sunday. Cambridge Rangers with a great 5-1 win to keep up the pressure on the leading pair. Laura Todd scoring Isleham United’s goal.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

One match beating the weather in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday with Netherton United Ladies beating local rivals Riverside Ladies for the 2nd successive game to move up to 4th position in the table with their 4th win of the season. A 4-0 home win at the end of January, Netherton were the visitors this Sunday goals from Emma Johnson and Clare Gallagher securing the 3 points with a 2-0 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

A big game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday with the top two both with 100% records going head to head, Wisbech Town Ladies hosting Ketton Ladies. Had met earlier in the season that game however abandoned with Ketton leading 4-1 due to injury. A late switch to 3G to enable this Sundays’ meeting to go ahead. Wisbech enjoying some good spells found the back of the net for one goal but it wasn’t enough as Ketton found the back of their opponents net for 3 goals to see them go top on goal difference. Claire Lawrenson, Sascha Smith and Beth Goodman getting the goals to make it 7 wins from that in the North7.

A 3rd win of the season sees Cardea Ladies move above Wisbech St Mary Ladies into 3rd position in the Championship North on Sunday. Cardea at home taking on Wisbech St Mary the sides fighting out a goalless draw at half-time, t was Wisbech St Mary who opening the scoring 2nd half going 1-0 in the 55th minute. Cardea responding well with captain Laura Ruddy firing in the equaliser 5 minutes later, another 5 minutes played and Cardea were in the lead Ruddy scoring again to make it 2-1. 15 minutes left and Ruddy had the ball in the back of the net again to complete her hat-trick. Wisbech St Mary pulling a goal back to make it 3-2 with 8 minutes left and set up a nervous finish to the game Cardea holding out to get the 3 points.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

The battle for top spot in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South is just a tense as the top two both won at the weekend in the two games taking place in the league on Sunday. Leaders Haverhill Rovers Ladies remain 6 points clear of 2nd placed St Ives Town Development. Were at home to Isleham United Ladies. Kayleigh Nolan top scoring for Haverhill in the match netting a hat-trick takes her onto 11 for the season. Joeli Kirby fine goal scoring form also continues, a brace at the weekend against Isleham taking her tally to 28 goals now. There were debut goals too for two players Michelle Matthews and Kiera Ince. The final score 10-1 the other goal scorers for Haverhill, Amy Evans, Elicia Cooper and Bethany-May Harding.

St Ives Town Ladies Development were away to Burwell Tigers Ladies in the league this Sunday like Haverhill have just the one defeat this season that on the opening day against Haverhill. Returned the favour to inflict Haverhill’s only league defeat back in October. A comfortable win for St Ives with Fran Worrall and Jade Carpenter both scoring hat-tricks against Burwell, Carpenter’s 3 goals seeing her take over as the leading goal scorer on 13. Kirsty Wicks also getting on the scoresheet with a goal for St Ives the visitors winning 7-0. 6 points behind Haverhill, with 2 games in hand.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

The weather might have been rubbish at the weekend but there was plenty of football in Cambridgeshire to keep you warm on Sunday with the action taking place across 5 competitions.

There were two games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership on Sunday. ICA Sports Ladies taking advantage of Cambridge City Ladies being involved in the League Cup this weekend winning at home to retake the lead in the table. Faced a tough game with 3rd placed and potential title challengers themselves Cambridge University Women the visitors. Turned out to be a close one with the sides sharing a goal each in the first half, Cambridge University adding another 2nd half, the Peterborough based ICA Sports edging the victory finding the back of the net for two goals in the 2nd period to win the match 3-2. Goals from Lorna Hart, Jessica Farchica and Becky Shields the difference for ICA Sports, Hannah Sanderson and Amanda Wainwright scoring the goals for Cambridge University.

It was a much needed win to for another Peterborough based side at home with Netherton United Ladies getting the win at home to local rivals Riverside Ladies on Sunday in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Goals for Lissy Crutchfield, Claire Gallagher, Poppy Sparrow and a first of the season for Jenna Nairn securing a 4-0 win for Netherton lifting them up a place in the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

The League Cup played in a group stage with the top two from the 4 mini-leagues progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition. Reaching it’s climax the 8 sides progressing have been decided (we think if I’ve read things right)

Some already known before this Sunday 3 group games played this weekend. In Group B, Premiership side March Town United Ladies finish top with 5 wins from 5 played as they came back from a goal down at home to Championship North side Wisbech St Mary Ladies to win the game 3-1. Josie Turner putting the visitors into the lead. March pulling it level before half-time going on to score twice in the 2nd half to clinch victory. Emma Searle netting a brace with Megan Tombs making her 2nd appearance for the club celebrating her 1st goal. Also progressing to the knock out stages from Group B are Wisbech Town Ladies.

In Group C, Cambridge City Ladies Development were already through to the knock stages as they hosted St Ives Town Ladies Development on Sunday, one of 3 sides tied on 9 points going into the game a positive result would see St Ives secure a place in the knock out stages themselves. Megan Tonks has been prolific this season for Cambridge City scored against St Ives taking her goals tally to 27 for the season. Freya Standing too in great form since joining the side into her 4th appearance hit a brace to move onto 6 scored with Yasmin Crow also getting a goal in a 4-1 win for Cambridge City. St Ives just missing out for a place in the knock out stage with Riverside Ladies clinching runners up spot.

One game played in Group A at the weekend neither side with a chance of qualification as Championship North sides Pinchbeck United Ladies and Cardea Ladies meet in the League Cup both looking for their 1st competitive win in the group. It was Pinchbeck celebrating at the final whistle getting the positive result goals from Rebecca Navarrete and Chloe Gray enough to secure a 2-1 victory with Laura Rudd scoring for Cardea. ICA Sports the League Cup holders currently lead Group A with Ketton Ladies 3 points behind also progressing even though they have a game remaining against Pinchbeck.

The other two sides progressing are from Group D, Haverhill Rovers Ladies topping the group with Cambridge University Women edging out Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup on Sunday the quarter final tie between Isleham United Ladies at home against Ketton Ladies. The visitors going strong with a 100% winning record in the Championship North proving the stronger as they won comfortably against their Championship South opponents Ketton booking their place in the last 4 of the competition winning 6-0 to join Burwell Tigers Ladies & ST Ives Town Ladies Development. Cardea Ladies are at home to Wisbech Town Ladies in the last remaining quarter final being held this coming Sunday.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

This Sunday Wisbech Town Ladies were in league action in the only game from the Championship North. Continued their 100% winning record to move 3 points clear of Ketton Ladies at the top of the table. Were at home (at least moved to a 3G) against Hungate Rovers Ladies. The visitors getting themselves into the lead through Kelsey McKenna, Wisbech Town came back to hold a 3-1 lead at half-time went on to comfortably win in the 2nd half 8-1 the final score. Top scorer Sophie Swinden scoring a hat-trick taking her to 21 for the season. There was a brace to for Chloe Stanborough with Chelsea King, Amy Newell & Abbe Somerville with her 1st of the season all getting a goal each.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Haverhill Rovers Ladies were playing their first league game since the 9th December this Sunday ended January with a positive result to see them reopen a 6 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South. Were away to bottom side Burwell Tigers Ladies. Joeli Kirby enjoying a strong campaign in front of goal for Haverhill the top scorers adding another 5 goals on Sunday with Kayleigh Nolan also getting a goal. The final score 8-1 their were 1st Haverhill goals too for Clair Andrews and Bethany-May Harding.

Cambridge Rangers WFC are also enjoying a great season in the Championship South a 5th win from 7 played takes them level on points with 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development. At home this Sunday were playing Park Ladies goals from Erika Balskute and a goal on her first start for Daniella Lewis securing a 2-0 victory for Cambridge Rangers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

A handful of games to start the New Year in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Football Leagues. The League Cup competition starting with a group format this a season, 4 mini-leagues each side playing each other once the top two progressing to the quarter final knock-out stage. A combination of Premiership and Championship sides in each.

Two matches played on Sunday, in Group A, ICA Sports leading the Premiership were away to fellow league side and Peterborough rivals Netherton United Ladies. The visiting side looking to make it 4 wins from 4 to ensure a place in the knock-out stages of the competition they won last season ICA Sports were in a strong position at half-time holding a 3-0 lead over Netherton. The home side pulling a goal back in the 2nd period with Emily Johnson on target, ICA Sports however scored a further goal themselves to clinch a 4-1 victory. Lorna Hart netting twice with a goal each for Zoe Leddy and Sarah Rouse.

The other League Cup group match played on Sunday was in Group C, Riverside Ladies from the Premiership at home to St Ives Town Ladies Development both on 6 points going into the game a win for either putting them into a great position to progress to the knock-out stages. A high scoring game the two sides sharing 9 goals between them. St Ives with 3 it was Riverside who came out on top Annie Posnett scoring a hat-trick, Hannah Murphy and Caitlin Heagren also amongst the goals in a 6-3 win lifting Riverside into 2nd spot with 3 sides all tied on 9 points, Cambridge City Ladies Development top, Cambridge Rangers WFC 3rd.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Two league games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North on Sunday and it is a two horse race for the title between Ketton Ladies and Wisbech Town Ladies for the title, both with a 100% success rate in the league both with 6 wins now. Ketton Ladies top on goal difference were at home taking on Wisbech St Mary Ladies in 3rd position. Ketton starting 2019 as they finished 2018 winning comfortably to claim another 3 point haul. Fran Kavanagh scoring 4 goals for Ketton with Claire Lawrenson also on target with a brace in a 6-0 win.

Wisbech Town Ladies were also at home on Sunday taking on bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies. Amy Newell scoring twice for Wisbech Town to see them leading 2-0 at half-time. Captain Faye Kowalewsky making it 3-0 in the 2nd half before Pinchbeck grabbed a reply Courtney Walker reducing the deficit. Sophie Swinden getting on the scoresheet fired Wisbech Town into a 4-1 lead, Walker was then again on target with a goal for Pinchbeck to bring it back to 4-2. Newell going on to complete a hat-trick securing a 5-2 win for Wisbech Town.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

One game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship and it was a good result at home for Cambridge Rangers WFC to start 2019. Were hosting Park Ladies, Jenna Brown striking twice for the visitors, Cambridge Rangers hitting them for 4 up the other end to win the game 4-2 and clinch a 4th win of the season. A firm hold now on 3rd position in the table, are now within 3 points of 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development who like them have a game in hand on leaders Haverhill Rovers Ladies, 6 points the gap 3 points further ahead.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup

Cambridgeshire’s County Cup competition the Invitation Cup reaching the quarter final stage this Sunday, 8 sides vying for a place in the semi-finals, through without kicking a ball are ERWFL Division One side, St Ives Town Ladies awarded a home with after opponents ICA Sports Ladies withdrew.

That left 3 quarter final ties to be settled on the pitch. It was an all Championship tie with Championship North side, Wisbech Town Ladies hosting Championship South side, Park Ladies for the 2nd successive Sunday. A 2nd successive win for Wisbech Town Ladies too as they reached the last 4 of the Invitation Cup courtesy of a 7-1 win. Both Amy Newell and Jasmine Luckett scoring two each, Luckett’s first goals for Wisbech Town, also scoring were Chloe Stanborough, Leah Hall and Sophie Swinden.

Cambridge City Ladies are the new holders of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup they began their defence of the trophy in the quarter finals drawn away from home against ERWFL Division One side, Histon Ladies. A 100% record at the top of the ERWFL Premier Division, Cambridge City Ladies kept up their winning form winning the game 3-0 to reach the last 4 of the competition. Charlotte Gillies, Sarah Mosley and Erin Davies getting the goals.

FAWNL South East Division One side, Cambridge United WFC were drawn away in the quarter finals of the Invitation Cup up against Newmarket Town Ladies, showing good form following promotion to ERWFL Division One this season. Newmarket holding thier higher league opponents for much of the 1st half, Cambridge United breaking from a Newmarket corner in the 44th minute, Jade Bell there to turn the ball into the back of the net as Mollie Coupar’s shot came back off the post. 1-0 the half-time lead it was Coupar herself who doubled the visitors lead her presence in the box bringing a defensive error for which she pounced on the ball and shot home. Bell put through on goal late in the match to score her 2nd of the game and send Cambridge United through to the last 4.

The Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup also beginning this Sunday, 2 tie scheduled in the 1st Round, Cambridge City Ladies Development going through courtesy of a home win over Riverside Ladies, that left just the one tie to be played.

March Town Ladies from the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership hosting Championship North side, Wisbech St Mary Ladies. A comfortable first half for March saw them holding a 3-0 lead at half-time, doubled that scoreline 2nd half to progress with a 6-1 victory. Their goals coming from 6 different players with, Louise Barbour, Adele Munday, Emma Searle, Megan Webb, Georgia Brown and Claire Watts. Carlie Knight with the 2nd half goal for Wisbech St Mary.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

One game played this Sunday in the group stage of the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup. In Group D, Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership side, Cambridge University Women were hosting Burwell Tigers Ladies from the Championship South. Having suffered defeat away to Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds in their opening group match, Cambridge University got their 1st win this time around with goals from Amanda Wainwright and Lili Donlon Mansbridge plus a brace from Shona Lester securing a 4-0 win.

One league match played in Cambridgeshire at the weekend on Sunday morning in the Championship South, 3rd placed, Cambridge Rangers Women hosting 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development, a one sided contest with St Ives rampant in front of goal achieving a double figure scoreline to win the 3 points and move level on points with Haverhill Rovers Ladies at the top of the table. Frances Chapman scoring 4 goals, Megan Stow claiming a hat-trick, a goal to for Connie Hornibrook along with a brace for Jade Carpenter in a 10-0 win for St Ives.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

ICA Sports Ladies are the new leaders in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership the Peterborough based side active in November playing games have picked up the points to catch and overhaul previous leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development whilst they have had no league action for a month now. ICA Sports with 3 successive wins in that time to move up the table. Were away to Histon Ladies Reserves this Sunday. A brace for Carmen Herridge for ICA Sports takes her onto 7 goals for the season with Bente Hanert also on target with a goal her 3rd after celebrating her 1st two goals for ICA Sports last weekend. The visitors winning 3-1 to go 3 points clear at the top. Cambridge City Ladies Development with 3 games in hand however with a 100% success rate form those 4 matches.

At the other end of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership it was a 10 goal thriller between Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds at home to March Town United Ladies on Sunday. The points had to be shared however as the sides contested an exciting 5-5 draw. Marie Stubbings hitting a brace for Fulbourn, so too did Yasmine Upson with her 1st two goals of the season and a first goal of the season too for Fulbourn’s Sarah Bodger. Louise Balfour doubling her tally for the season for March Town United as she struck the ball into the back of the net 4 times. Emma Searle netting to other goal her 1st of the season.

One tie from the 1st Round of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup played this Sunday saw ERWFL Division One side, St Ives Town Ladies hosting Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership side Riverside Ladies. A comfortable win for the higher league side to progress to the quarter finals with both Fran Worrall and Hannah Seymour-Shove scoring a hat-trick a piece their was a goal each to for Jade Carpenter, Emily Smith and Stephanie Ransome in a 9-0 win for St Ives.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

They’ve done it at last a first ever league win for Burwell Tigers Ladies, 3 points on the board. Just the 2 last season in their debut year in women’s football are of the mark winning their 6th game of the season, Burwell were away taking on Isleham United Ladies on Sunday in the only game in the Championship South. Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

Three matches played in the 1st Round of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup this Sunday the competition entering it’s 2nd season a knock-out format. Histon Ladies Reserves winning the trophy last season are promoted now so ineligible to compete. It was a good weekend for the top three sides in the Championship North with all progressing in the competition, Ketton Ladies were at home to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Just the one goal scored but it was enough for the Championship North leaders as Ketton advance.

Wisbech Town Ladies also had a home draw in the 1st Round of the Division One Cup taking on Championship South side, Park Ladies. A brace from top scorer Sophie Swinden takes her into double figures for the season. Rachael Simpson and Chelsea King also on target for Wisbech Town with a goal each to see them advance with a 4-0 win.

A comfortable home win too on Sunday in the 1st Round of the Division One Cup for Wisbech St Mary as they met Cambridge Rangers Women who like themselves lay 3rd in the Championship South. Braces for both Eilish Brown and Carlie Knight for Wisbech St Mary Josie Turner and Demi Newman were also both on target with a goal each in a 6-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Two games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this weekend and with the league leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development not in action it was an opportunity for 2nd placed ICA Sports Ladies to move level on points with them at the top of the table. This Sunday ICA Sports Ladies were at home taking on Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. Kylie Armstrong scoring twice to take her goals tally to 6 for the season for ICA Sports, there was a brace too for Bente Hanert her first goals for the club in only her 2nd appearance. Donna Nicholls on target too with a goal wrapping up a 5-0 win for ICA Sports joined the leaders on 12 points.

Is tight in the Premiership table below the leading pair, Histon Ladies Reserves winning for the 2nd time this season leaping up to 3rd in the table. At home were taking on Riverside Ladies this Sunday, Daniella Briggs scoring her first goals of the season netting twice for Histon, Sarah Freestone on target too for her first goal of the campaign with Sophie also scoring in a 4-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

The top two in the Championship North went head to head on Sunday for the 1st time this season, both level on points with a 100% winning start to the season, Ketton Ladies ahead on goal difference hosting Wisbech Town Ladies. Ketton having the better of thing’s were leading the game 4-1 when the game was abandoned quarter of an hour into the 2nd half following a medical emergency to one of the Wisbech Town players. Awaiting a response to see if the result stands or the game will be replayed at a later date. Individual rules for league can vary the norm being 70 minutes. More importantly though is the health of the players and Women’s Football East wishes the player involved all the best for a full and speedy recovery.

Elsewhere in the Championship North 3rd placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies were hosting 4th placed Cardea Ladies. Wisbech St Mary claiming the 3 points in a high scoring game winning 8-3 to move onto 9 points. Josie Turner scoring a hat-trick moves onto 11 goals since joining in the summer. A goal too for Hannah Shales takes her tally to 8. There were 1st goals of the season for 3 players too for Wisbech St Mary with Carlie Knight getting a brace, Eilish Brown and Lauren Laws also celebrating a goal each.

The bottom two in the Championship North were also in action on Sunday with Hungate Rovers Ladies travelling to play Pinchbeck United Ladies. A comfortable win for the visitors in the end as Hungate won for the 1st time this season, 6-0 the winning margin.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Haverhill Rovers Ladies maintain a 3 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South with an away victory on Sunday as the top 3 all picked up another 3 points. Haverhill Rovers were up against Isleham United Ladies. Top scorer, Joeli Kirby now has 15 goals for the season as she scored a further 3 goals on Sunday. Kayleigh Nolan, Siobhan White and Elicia Cooper all on target too in a 6-1 win. Nicole Bailey with the Isleham goal.

St Ives Town Ladies Development in 2nd place were at home on Sunday hosting bottom side Burwell Tigers Ladies, A brace from Frances Chapman along with goals from Jade Carpenter, Connie Liddiard and Leah Culpin her 1st for the club securing a 6-1 victory. Elisa Heinamaa scoring for Burwell Tigers.

6 goals to scored for the winning side in the other game from the Championship South with 3rd placed Cambridge Rangers WFC travelling to Wimblington to play Park Ladies, a disappointing afternoon for the hosts as Cambridge Rangers hit them for 6 Vanessa Martinez Ramos scoring twice to open her goals account for the season. Jaclyn Scafide also getting on the scoresheet for the 1st time this season, with Robyn Barlow and Sharne Southgate both getting a goal each moving onto 7 and 8 goals respectfully, an own goal too seeing the visitors win 6-2.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup

The 1st Round of the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup began this Sunday across the county with 5 ties being played. FAWNL South East Division One side, Cambridge United Women were drawn away to play Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds in the competition. Playing 3 leagues higher than their hosts Cambridge were leading 2-0 at half-time, Opening the scoring from the penalty spot Amy Howlett the goalscorer. Becky Shephard making it 2-0. A strong 2nd half performance from Cambridge seeing them go on to rack up a comfortable win. Steph Gale’s strike from distance making in 3-0. Defender Kayleigh-Anne Burt scoring from a corner for 4-0. Captain Kelley Blanchflower getting Cambridge’s 5th goal went on to score at hat-trick. There was a brace for Vicky Neal. Howlett converting again from the penalty spot and Chloe Smith scoring her 1st goal for Cambridge. The final score 11-0.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership side, ICA Sports Ladies went one better than Cambridge in their 1st Round Invitation Cup tie, scoring 12 goals to win comfortably away from home against Burwell Tigers Ladies on Sunday. Jessica Farchina top scoring in the game netting 4 goals for ICA Sports, 3 players all getting a brace, Carmen Herridge, Donna Nicholls ad Kylie Armstrong. Megan Purnell and Zoe Leddy also getting a goal each. The final score 12-2. Charlotte Forgarty and Elisa Heinamaa with the goals in each half for the Championship South side.

Plenty of goal elsewhere too in the Invitation Cup 1st Round, ERWFL Division One side, Histon Ladies were away to Isleham United Ladies from the Championship South. Sophie Lanham’s free-kick putting Histon into the lead in the 14th minute. Alison Wright doubling the lead just 3 minutes later would go on to complete a 1st half hat-trick, Brie Baker and Georgia Day both getting a goal each to see Histon leading 6-0 at half-time. Isleham pulling a goal back early in the 2nd period, Histon soon extending their lead, Charlotte Westhorpe making it 7-1. Becky Finch scoring her 1st goal of the season an own goal seeing Histon advance comfortably the final score 9-.

ERWFL Division One newcomers, Newmarket Town Ladies were hosting Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership side March Town United Ladies in the 1st Round of the Invitation Cup on Sunday. A 2-0 lead for Newmarket at half-time went on to make the result comfortable in the 2nd half adding a further 5 goals to win the tie 7-0. Both Brooke Wickens and Cassandra Carvalheiro scoring twice in the game with Jess Linger, Sarah O’Rourke and Jodie Woodfield all getting a goal.

Championship North versus Championship South in the other 1st Round Invitation Cup match played on Sunday. Wisbech Town Ladies at home playing Cambridge Rangers WFC. The visitors taking the lead going 1-0 up early in the match. Wisbech Town coming back to level the scores with Kaylie Swinden firing the ball home. Again Cambridge Rangers came back to lead the game, Were pegged back to 2-2 with Chloe Stanborough equalising for Wisbech Town drawing at half-time Wisbech Tow the stronger side 2nd half, Sophie Swinden putting the hosts into the lead for the 1st time in the match. Leah Hall extending the advantage with both Stanborough and Sophie Swinden scoring a 2nd goal each to see Wisbech Town win the game 6-2.

Two more 1st Round ties to be played, Park Ladies are at home to Wisbech St Mary Ladies whilst, St Ives Town Ladies are hosting Riverside Ladies. The draw for the quarter finals made on Tuesday, are scheduled to be played Sun 18th November:-

One game too in the Championship South with leaders Haverhill Rovers Ladies hosting 2nd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development. Haverhill Rover with a 100% winning start to the season, St Ives Town 6 points behind succeeded in closing the gap to 3 points ending Haverhill Rovers unbeaten start to the season winning the game 3-1. Hannah Seymour-Shove scoring a brace for St Ives Town with Fran Chapman also finding the back of the net. Kayleigh Nolan scoring the goal for Haverhill Rovers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Cambridge City Ladies Development continue their 100% winning start to the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership leading by 3 points with a 4 straight league win. Coming on the road away to March Town United Ladies on Sunday. After contesting a goalless first 45 minutes Cambridge City broke the deadlock with Ellie Cullum scoring the goal to put the visitors 1-0 up, Cullum going on to hit the back of the net with a further 2 goals to complete a hat-trick to see the game won 3-0.

ICA Sports Ladies climb back into 2nd position in the as they ended Cambridge University Women’s winning start to the season on Sunday. Lili Donlon-Mansbridge scoring for Cambridge University at home, ICA Sports scoring from the penalty spot through Jess Farchina along with a goal credited to Kylie Armstrong seeing the Peterborough based side with the game 2-1 winning for the 3rd time this season.

In the other Premiership game played this weekend it was a meeting between the two sides promoted from the Championship South, Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds clocking up their 1st win last Sunday at home to Histon Ladies Reserves. Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Wisbech Town Ladies and Ketton Ladies are neck and neck at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North both with a 100% winning start to the season. Ketton moving ahead of Wisbech after this Sunday’s results on goal difference as they recorded a big win away to Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday (apologies for listing Hungate as Hungary Riverside Ladies in the results tweet this week blame it on the new phone and it’s predictive text which I failed to notice) A double figure win for Ketton as they continued their great start to the season a 12-0 scoreline taking them top of the table.

Wisbech Town Ladies were taking part in their 2nd Wisbech derby of the season at home to Wisbech St Mary on Sunday. Amy Newell scoring the opening goal for Wisbech Town midway through the 1st half. Sophie Swindon doubling the hosts lead with Chloe Stanborough on target for a 3rd goal to see Wisbech Town leading 3-0 at half-time. Stanborough scoring her 2nd of the game to make it 4-0 to Wisbech Town in the 2nd half, Chelsea King getting on the scoresheet making it 5-0. Leonie Goodale getting a goal back for Wisbech St Mary only a consolation as Wisbech Town ran out 5-1 winners.

For the 2nd successive Sunday, Cardea Ladies were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies in the Championship North. A 5-2 win for Cardea last time out securing their 1st ever win since being formed. Rebecca Navarrete with her 1st goal of the season fro Pinchbeck putting them into the lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Cardea levelling the scores just before the half hour Kelly Hook with her 1st goal for Cardea, a superb strike from outside the box flying in over the keeper to make it 1-1. Captain, Laura Rudd having scored 4 goals for Cardea last time out scoring what would prove to be the winning goal on 35 minutes to see Cardea claim a 2nd successive win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

One game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South this Sunday between the bottom two both without a point going into the game Burwell Tigers Ladies at home to Park Ladies. A high scoring contest with the sides getting 10 goals between them. A brace for Vicky Murrell along with goals for Hannah Dewey and the 1st of the season for Xantha Miller seeing the hosts scoring 4, a trio of braces winning the game for Park, Francesca Plitsch, Jenna Brown and Sherrie Martin all on target for their 1st goals of the season winning the game 6-4.
