The Round-Up

Sunday 8th September

Norfolk Women’s Division One

The new season begins in Norfolk, once again two divisions but with an influx of new sides to Division Two, Division One is expanded to 11 sides with six sides joining the league from last season’s Division Two. Champions Taverham United Ladies, along with runners-up Fakenham Town Ladies, Long Stratton Women, Tavern Ladies, Freethorpe Ladies and Thetford Town Ladies, will present a huge challenge for some stepping up to a higher level. Gorleston Ladies have taken promotion to the ERWFL. Thorpe United Ladies winning the title last season will be favourite’s once again, others have strengthened though.

10 sides in action on the opening day with Taverham the side sitting it out. Thorpe United Ladies beginning the defence of their title away to Long Stratton Women. Creating a new Reserves side this season Thorpe are beginning to find strength in depth, Rebekah Lake potent in front of goal for Thorpe over the years starting the new season with a bang netting 4 goals. Strengthened in midfield Alice Ladbrooke joining from Wymondham scoring a goal along with fellow midfielders Laura Hedtke and Millie Cursons. Holly Peck and Ellie Hunter also getting their accounts opened for the season in a 9-1 win. Samantha Walker with the goal for the hosts.

Not the highest score of the weekend however as Bungay Town Ladies went one better reaching double figures. A lacklustre season last time around Bungay look to be back recruiting well their squad in good shape and form in pre-season, plenty of target practice too last weekend scoring 15 goals in the Women’s FA Cup. Beginning their league campaign away to Fakenham Town Ladies, Bungay kept up their fine goal scoring form fresh from scoring 5 last weekend Leanne Smith amongst the goals once again with a hat-trick. Both Imogen McGregor and Shannon Dade scoring a brace each. There were goals too for Hannah Jones, Selina Rowland and Nicola Hazell in a 10-0 win.

Got this season up and running with a comfortable 7-0 win. Ellie Hall scoring a hat-trick there was a brace for last season’s top scorer Victoria Leyer. Chelsea Brister and captain Abby Hutchin both getting a goal apiece.

Freethorpe like Thetford Town wouldn’t have been expecting promotion finishing 5th and 6th respectfully. New sides entering the league however an evening up of the leagues was needed. know it will be tough but Freethorpe will be heartened by their opening game result albeit a loss as they travelled to play Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves. Conceding just the one goal first half, Freethorpe battling, Wymondham added a 2nd to win the game 2-0, captain Chelsea Pettifer and Primrose Rushen with the goals.

Tavern Ladies reached the League Cup final last season beating Thorpe United Ladies along the way. Finishing 4th in Division Two they perhaps should have finished higher early results costing them, now promoted Tavern scored plenty of goals last season in particular Katie Hart-Copsey and Atlanta Griffith. Began the season with an away trip to play Sprowston Athletic Ladies who won the League Plate last season with a assured mid-table finish following promotion to Division One last season. Was a close game with Tavern edging the win 2-1 to claim the 3 points. Goals from Lucy Kean and Atlanta Griffith securing the win. Laura Jenkins finding the back of the net for Sprowston Athletic.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

Bungay weren’t the only side to win 10-0 at the weekend as they were matched in Division Two by Beccles Town Ladies. Relegated from Division One last season whilst reached the League Plate final in just their 2nd season they drop back into an unrecognisable league with 10 sides lining up for the new season one missing late on sad to see Gorleston Rangers Ladies have gone but with a strong youth section may well be back one day. Bulldogs, Hockering and Horsford Women still there after tough debut seasons whilst the newcomers are, Thorpe United Reserves and Waveney along with familiar names returning, Stalham Town, Red Rose, Mulbarton Belles and North Walsham Angles Ladies.

Three games to start the season in Division Two with Beccles Town Ladies travelling to play Bulldogs Ladies. The hosts beginning the season short on numbers. A change for Fakenham at the start of the 2nd half Betts back on for Dankskanen. The hosts with the kick-off. Patten providing an early run through the middle the ball put on from the left, Ferguson intercepting for Bure Valley at the back.

The ball back and forth a spot of head tennis in the middle it bounces away in behind with both Betts and Spurrell after it the latter with a shot form the top of the area dragged wide across the face of goal. Cooper doing her best in attack to get the ball on but with little support Fakenham soon outnumber her to regain possession. Betts in to steal the ball on the left high a shot fired in near post Barnes down smartly to save.

Numbers forwards for Fakenham using their player advantage well, Betts coming inside Guyatt getting forwards centrally the pass into her feet out for Spurrell right tries the return ball for Guyatt, Locke closing her down, Guyatt laying it back to Codman position 25 yards out takes on the shot the ball over the bar. Smith with a shot from all of 40 yards out, high into the area, not enough though to trouble Barnes who can safely catch. All Fakenham, Bure Valley absorbing alot of pressure, Imogen Shearing with the sliding tackle getting back to take the ball of Betts as she comes inside the full back.

Robb with a great ball in from left back to Guyatt central breaking into the area, goes to strike the ball the shot wide of the left post. Riches heading the ball on for Sands in midfield combining with Codman, Guyatt bursting forwards the through ball attempted, Ferguson in again with a determined challenge to win the ball.

GOAL! On the hour Fakenham further extend their lead great possession and build up play on the left inside the final third the pass into the box seeing Guyatt baring down on goal, poking the ball on she sends the ball wide across the stranded keeper and into the bottom corner to score 3-0.

Last carries the ball out from the back left for Bure Valley has support inside from Burton into the Fakenham half Cooper looking to make a run in behind, Smith holds her ground for Fakenham winning the header to give possession back to the hosts. A free-kick awarded to Fakenham top of the area 20 yards out Guyatt to play it her strike sent over. Davey plays the ball on for Cooper in attack in behind but too much ground to cover as Easter who has virtually been a spectator 2nd half gets to the ball first.

Fakenham’s Sands winning the ball from a goalkick strikes the ball back towards goal from 25 yards out, the attempt dropping wide of the post. A corner on the right for Fakenham Sands to take the delivery fired in low across goal met by Smith at the back post getting her foot over the ball smashes a shot back wide across the six yard box. Websdale coming off for Fakenham, Townsend recovering from her first half injury back on. A tough game for Bure Valley are working hard continue to be on the back foot, Locke and Ferguson battling well in the centre of defence.

Betts is in on goal as the ball in from the left inside the six yards box is missed by Barnes, hesitates before shooting however giving the keeper the opportunity to scramble to grab the ball at her feet. Fakenham forwards on the left a corner awarded put in towards the near post Barnes doing well getting a glove on the ball to take it off Betts as she goes to head it. Cleared only to the edge of the box a shot is lifted back in lands on the roof of the net. Codman with a strike on the half volley 30 yards out caught by the keeper.

25 goals so far this season for Bure Valley Wildcats, Charlie Cooper

Last, Burton and Wood getting forwards when they can to try and support Cooper in attack but often two, Fakenham can soon get back to outnumber them. A further blow for Bure Valley as anther injury blow sees them forced to play on with 9. Davey I think helped off but Bure Valley have red numbers against a navy background tricky to read under the lights, especially on Fakenham’s wide pitch. More adjustment players well and truly out of position now but they regroup for the final 15 minutes.

Barnes plucking the ball down well as it is fired in high from the right. A free kick for Fakenham right Codman running onto the ball at the far post, Barnes down well keeps it out. Dankskanen back on for Fakenham with the ball on the left holds it up support from Townsend, her cross into the six yards box, Betts can’t reach it out for a goal kick. Robb on the ball at right back players bombing forwards into the area her ball played in bouncing safely gathered by Barnes.

Fakenham push late on Bure Valley have done well in defence restricting them to one goal 2nd half, Spurrell top of the box laying in inside to Patten inside the D, Sands on behind her 20 out gives her the ball a tremendous save from Barnes tipping her strike over the bar. Fakenham with a corner in towards the near post Bure Valley defending.

Full time Fakenham Town Ladies 3-0 Bure Valley Wildcats Ladies

Back to winning ways for Fakenham Town Ladies, the perfect response to last weekends disappointing result. On top right from the start an early goal. Both sides having to deal with injuries, Fakenham having the substitutes available, whereas Bure Valley didn’t. 2-0 down then going down to 10 players meaning they were always up against it from then on. A creditable performance however as Fakenham pushed for further goals with some great build up play and forward passes. Bure Valley backs to the wall limiting Fakenham to just one more goal in the 2nd half, Ferguson and Locke in central defence with Barnes making some vital stops in goal. A long hard season in Division Two most sides feeling the strain towards the end, games still to be played yet.

Women’s Football East – Player of the Match

Onto this evenings Women’s Football East – Player of the Match. Mentioned the Bure Valley central defence a great effort under pressure for much of the game. For Fakenham the link up play in the middle was excellent Sian Sands winning alot of ball bringing others into the game, Jennifer Codman notable too with some fine balls forward plus the early goal. The award this evening going to Amber Guyatt played some fantastic through balls from midfield and made several runs to support the attack scoring Fakenham’s 3rd goal.

My thanks to both sides for the team details tonight always appreciated, good to see both sides, has been a while since I’ve watched Bure Valley good to see them in action again despite it being a tough game for them credit to the 11 and wishing both their injured players a speedy recovery.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

In Norfolk Women’s Division Two, Taverham Women United are the Champions getting the point they needed to seal the title away to Hockering Ladies in their final game of the season this Easter Sunday. A fantastic achievement for the club playing their first ever season of women’s football have led the way for much of the season a long winning run, just the one defeat late on to dent the record. All under 18 bar one have kept getting the results despite some strong sides their to challenge. Hockering Ladies sadly short on players as they have been for most of the season battling on a creditable effort form everyone. 9 players against Taverham the visitors a handful at the best of times got into a 5-0 lead comfortable the title secured opted to drop down to 9 themselves to match Hockering a noble gesture didn’t stoop the goals as they added a further 5 to win the game 10-0. Three players netting a brace, Hannah Artis, Maya Lawlor and Tiegan Robinson with Jasmin Snelling, Lucy Staff, Summer Rogers and Abbie Walker all getting a goal each. Staff and Snelling with their first goals of the season.

Taverham Women United, Division Two Champions

Congratulations to Taverham Women United on winning the Norfolk Women’s Division Two title.

The only side to defeat Taverham in the league this season were Tavern Ladies. Coming on strong towards the end of the season themselves victory at home to Fakenham Town Ladies on Sunday seeing them move into 2nd position and pole position for clinching the runners-up spot. A 4-0 defeat to Fakenham on the opening day of the season Tavern have been behind the top three in part due to a run in the league cup that has seen them reach their first ever final. Tavern’s winning streak now reaching 10 wins in all competitions scoring plenty of goals along the way too. Fakenham needing the points themselves to put them into 2nd it was Tavern holding the advantage at half-time leading the game 2-0 the hosts went on to win the game 5-1. Atlanta Griffith scoring a brace to move onto 23 goals for the season, Katie Hart-Copsey adding another goal to her staggering 51 goal tally. Nicole Costin also getting a goal for Tavern to take her into double figures for the season an own goal too.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One game in Cambridgeshire at the weekend from the Championship North, leaders Ketton Ladies at home to bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies. Ketton extending their 100% winning record to 12 games to go 6 points clear at the top courtesy of a 2-0 win with the usual suspects on target for a goal each, Fran Kavanagh scoring her 45th goal of the season With Claire Lawrenson finding the back of the net for her 26th of the campaign.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Essex saw the most league action at the weekend with five matches played. Sadly however there is some sad news to report from the league with Brentwood Town Ladies withdrawing from the Premier Division late in the campaign, no doubt a tough call to make, bottom of the league knew they were going to find it a challenge having been promoted despite a 4th placed finish last season, 11 losses have struggled to find a team on several weekends, with less than 75% of their fixtures played their results are expunged meaning adjustment to the table and some sides losing up to 6 points previously gained. Wishing everyone involved with Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves side all the best for the future.

Three games played in the Premier Division on Easter Sunday. Leigh Ramblers Ladies returning to the top of the table winning away from home against Silver End United Ladies who were playing their last game of the season. Amy Jacobs scoring a brace has 16 goals now for Leigh Ramblers from 9 appearances. Emily Diwell also on the scoresheet with Leigh Ramblers running out 3-0 winners. Leigh Ramblers a point clear of 2nd placed Frontiers Ladies with a game in hand.

Collier Row Tigers are now 3rd  in the adjusted Premier Division table and with games home and away against Leigh Ramblers to come could yet have a say in the title race with 4 games left to play. Won the 3 points at home this Easter Sunday against Southend United Ladies. Top scorer Laura Bunton hitting a brace moving onto 33 goals for the season with Emma Harrison and Natalie Oxby also getting a goal apiece in a 4-1 win, Emily Pert scoring for Southend.

A point behind Collier Row Tigers in 4th spot Harlow Town Ladies Development also have 4 league games left. Were big winners away from home on Sunday taking on Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Leading 2-0 at half-time Harlow ran riot in the 2nd half to score a further 7 goals to win the game 9-1. Hannah Smith, top scorer on target for another hat-trick has 29 goals for the season now. Ellie Nicholls with a brace has 18 for the season. Also on target for a brace was Hariot Douglas her first goals for Harlow in just her 2nd appearance. Maisy Wyer and Poppy Binding with a goal each also scoring.

Essex Women’s Division One

Home wins awarded for earlier games called of now taking effect, Billericay Town Ladies return to the top of Essex Women’s Division One, ahead of Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies on goal difference. Nothing Dagenham & Redbridge can do having completed their fixtures but they are now sandwiched between the title contenders, with Rayleigh Town Ladies moving up to 3rd awarded points and winning at home this Easter Sunday against Runwell Sports Ladies who were playing their final game of the season. 51 goals for the season too for Isabelle Wallings scoring at the weekend with Sophie Rhodes making it 2 from 2 appearances for Rayleigh as they won the game 2-1. Danielle Dorrington scoring for Runwell who finish with 10 victories and 10 losses but just 27 points with a 3 point deduction.

The title battle between Billericay Town Ladies Reserves and Rayleigh Town Ladies, One game left for Billericay away to Rayleigh this coming Sunday 3 points the gap, Billericay win it they will be champions, draw and they will almost certainly be there with a far superior goal difference. A win for Rayleigh however and we have a 3 way tie at the top on 48 points. A point then for Rayleigh in their final game of the season away to Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves will see them clinch the title… a huge game on Sunday.

One other game played in Essex Women’s Division One this Easter Sunday with Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves beating Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves 3-1 away from home to climb up to 7th in their final game of the season, ending on a high thanks to a brace from Kelsey Honeywood and a goal for Millie Richards.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Garston’s 2nd XI bottom of the table for much of the campaign finishing strong with 4 wins coming in their last 5 league matches. Charley Kesley with a brace along with a goal for Holly Jury her 10th of the season seeing them win one match 3-0. In the other game Kelsey was also on target for another goal to take her tally to 12 for the campaign. Top scorer Ruby Jager scoring a brace too has 15 for the season a closer game this time around with Garston’s 2nd XI edging it 3-2 the 6 points seeing them climb up to 6th in the table with 3 games left to play.

The Round-Up – Norfolk 14/04/19

The Round-Up

Sunday 14th April

Norfolk Women’s Division One

Just a handful of fixtures left now in Norfolk Women’s Division One half the sides now completing their fixtures Thorpe United Ladies long ago crowned champions, a win from Gorleston Ladies would see them clinch runners-up spot in the league as they travelled to play bottom side Beccles Town Ladies on Sunday just a point behind 2nd placed Sprowston Ladies whose fixtures were done. Two games in hand for Gorleston they were 2 goals to the good at half-time, went on to add a further 2 in the 2nd period to win the game 4-1 and seal a 2nd place finish. Samantha Hunn scoring a brace with Sophie Gillett and Beth Turner both on target for a goal each. Lucy Robbens with the 2nd half goal for Beccles who despite a spirited finish bottom of the table following promotion last season. Haven’t had the luck with injuries throughout but still have a cup final to look forwards too.

Has been a difficult season too for Bungay Town Ladies double winners last season, got off to a terrible start this time around the squad taking a hit players missing, injuries, results picking up recently as new players start to find their feet bolster the existing squad end the campaign unbeaten in 3 winning two including their last game of the season at home to Sprowston Athletic Ladies the 3 points lifting them into the top half of the table. At home Bungay leading 2-0 at half-time went on to win the game 3-0. Selina Rowland scoring a brace there was a goal too for Morgan Devine.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

It was from Norfolk where this Sunday’s action came from Women’s Football East came from the top of Division Two a first opportunity to have a look at league leaders Taverham Women United’s young guns as they travelled to 3rd placed Fakenham Town Ladies knowing one more win would secure them the league title. Taverham with a very young side all U18 bar one making the step up from youth football often a big step Taverham drawing their opening game haven’t looked back losing just the one game and that only a month ago. Fakenham coming into the game hit by injuries and unavailability meaning they had just the bare 11.

Taverham were on the front foot from the off the game soon becoming a classic of attack versus defence, Fakenham with their backs to the wall battling hard deep in their half ans Taverham poured forwards. Teigan Robinson getting the break through breaking into the area o score from the rebound to put the visitors into the lead. Chloe Easter making some vital saves in the Fakenham goal. It was more of the same 2nd half Fakenham rarely in the Taverham half, digging in battling as opportunities came and went for Taverham to put the game to bed, denied by the post, Easter again their to save, late into the game Fakenham got forwards forcing a corner on the right a goal bound shot blocked by an arm the referee pointing to the spot a last gasp chance for Fakenham to rescue a point, captain Sian Sands to take now mistake her strike just about eluding Taverham goalkeeper Laura Beevor to find the back of the net and see the game end 1-1. The title remains in Taverham’s hands victory in their final game of the season away to Hockering will see them crowned champions in their first season in women’s football.

The battle for runners-up spot still very much alive with a 3 way tie on 37 points between 2nd placed Long Stratton Women and Fakenham Town Ladies pushed down to 4th on goal difference as Tavern Ladies nestle in between them in 3rd. A game in hand on Long Stratton too, Fakenham with 5 left to play having games in hand on both. Tavern were in action this Sunday on the East Coast taking on Gorleston Rangers Ladies. The Dereham based side scoring plenty of goals this season, none more so than Katie Hart-Copsey as she was on target once again at the weekend on fire scoring all 5 goals in the game to become the 2nd player (would have been the first but I started in Essex this week) in the East to rack up 50 goals for the season!

Freethorpe Ladies move up the Division Two table once again this Sunday winning at home against Thetford Town Ladies to slot into 5th place in the table. A big win too against a Thetford side once again struggling for numbers. Andrea Colbrook scoring a hat-trick in the game for Freethorpe. Keira Squires on target for a brace, there were goals too for Claire Garner, Robyn Steele and a first of the season for Michaela Stordy in an 8-0 victory.

At the other end of the Division One table it has been a long hard 1st season in women’s football for Bulldogs Ladies. Playing their final league game of the season this Sunday they ended on a high with a strong 2nd half shoeing against Horsford Women to claim victory for just the 2nd time this season. 2-1 up at half-time Bulldogs went on to add a further 6 goals without reply in the 2nd half to win the game 8-1. Emma Johnson scoring a hat-trick for Bulldogs. Also getting on the scoresheet were Stevie-Leigh Malkinson, Emily Hinsley, Sara-Jane Langford and Rachael Barrett with her 1st goal for Bulldogs. Match Report – Fakenham Town Ladies v Taverham Women United

Sunday 14th April

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

A return to league action this afternoon on Women’s Football East a short trip today to Clipbush Park to watch a crucial top of the table clash from Norfolk Women’s Division Two leaders Taverham Women United one win away from clinching the title in their debut season away to Fakenham Town Ladies in 3rd whose own title hopes rest on winning the 3 points themselves.

Due to be played back in December had it on the radar but the weather put pay to that outing, the rearranged fixture falling just right, both sides starting the season well under contrasting circumstances. Fakenham Town Ladies relegated from Division One looking to regroup and rebuild confidence within their squad. Taverham Women one of a cluster of youth sides making the big step up to women’s football this season.

The two clubs neck and neck at the top of the table in the early stages of the season, both unbeaten Fakenham winning their opening 8 matches before the two sides met at Taverham in December, Taverham ending Fakenham’s 100% winning start in a close match winning 1-0. Since then Fakenham have fallen behind with fixtures hit by postponements and call offs have 6 games left to play. Injury and unavailable players affecting them too in the run in, 4 games in hand on Taverham down to 3rd now after a 2nd defeat of the season against Long Stratton Women in 2nd know they can’t afford to lose today if they want to finish top of the pile.

Taverham making the step up into women’s football this season has seen several sides struggle to adapt recently, not in their case however their young squad all under 18 bar one Rebecca Sutton who is 18 hitting the ground running a 0-0 draw on the opening day went on to win their next 13 league matches before suffering their first and only defeat of the season to an in form Tavern Ladies side last month. An important 3-0 away win in midweek against Long Stratton Women sees them 12 points clear at the top knowing a win against Fakenham will see them clinch the league title.

Taverham have a small close knit squad 16 players, manager Kevin Robinson with the squad since they were playing at U10 level, with 5 of that team still with the current group. Well supported by joint manager Bill Artis along with all the parents that make it a real family unit. Have scored an incredible 123 goals so far this season with Rebecca Sutton and Abbie Walker sharing 66 goals between them. Learning every game and with some strong sides in the league a credit to be where they are with two games left to play.

Clipbush Park the venue this afternoon the ladies side sharing the main pitch with the mens side. A bar also serving tea and coffee along with hot food upon entry leading out onto the pitch a large surface plenty of width fitness levels need to be sharp.   Half-time, Taverham leading 1-0 a narrow advantage for all their attacking player have shown plenty of energy and positively getting numbers forwards in attack have had their opponents on the back foot for the entire 1st half. Just the one goal to show for it however the game far from settled a 2nd goal most definitely needed, Fakenham have battled hard in defence to keep Taverham at bay whilst creating very little in attack themselves.

Taverham to get the 2nd half underway a change made Hurren back on Robinson off. Get forwards right from the off Lawlor played through into the box on the right blasts a shot in towards the near post Easter with a fantastic save to push the ball behind for a corner kick. The ball delivered into the box Fakenham just about deal with it knocked outside the area a shot back in well wide. Townsend too taking a blow down but can continue. Hurren an excellent dribbler of the ball at speed bombs forwards into the box on the left closing in on the byline checks back attempts to lift the ball in across the face of goal, no one to meet it runs wide. Codman is back on Fakenham back up to their full compliment.

Caitlyn Arnup

Davies is upended as she tries to bring the ball on up the right for Fakenham, the ball played on down the line quickly King after it, gets a cross into the area no one gambling however, Taverham bring it out from the back lost however deflected into Spurrell’s feet she lifts a shot back in from distance, Beevor safely gathering. A rapid attack launched the ball helped on through to Sutton wins a corner on the left as Websdale comes to close her down. The delivery in central headed away by Sands for a 2nd corner. This time the ball lands at Walkers feet six yards out a snap shot cleared on the line put out to the left players attracted to the ball the cross in over them all, Townsend doing a good job in front of goal to get the ball away before it can be attacked.

Taverham’s Charlotte Hurren

Taverham continue to attack another corner won on the right, have played in some great deliveries again to the far post Robinson meeting it her attempt blocked on the post.  Into stoppage time Fakenham get on down the right Spurrell with King combining wining a throw put on down the line for King she does well to win a corner. The ball played in central a shot driven in towards the back post blocked on the line, hand ball! The referee pointing to the spot late drama PENALTY!

GOAL! Fakenham captain Sian Sands placing the ball on the spot. The whistle blows a confident hit lifting the ball to the right pace on the ball Beevor gets a touch throwing herself in that direction but not enough to keep it out Fakenham level at the death 1-1.

Sian Sands scores from the spot in the closing moments of the game

That’s it not time for Taverham to find a response robbed of the 3 points needed to win the title in the closing seconds of the game, Fakenham ecstatic having battled so hard all game to take a point from the match.

Full time Fakenham Town Ladies 1-1 Taverham United Women

That was most definitely a game off attack versus defence Taverham on the front foot right from the off getting forwards in numbers pressing the ball high and keeping a high level of energy throughout, taking the lead late in the first half had numerous chances in the 2nd half to put the game to bed but none were taken. Fakenham battling hard with the bare 11 players out of position defending battling and working hard to keep Taverham at bay, Easter pulling off some fantastic saves. At 1-0 they were never out of the game and in the end that cost Taverham all 3 points with a late penalty conceded and dispatched.

Fakenham keep there title hopes alive for now but a win for Taverham in their final game of the season will be enough to see them win the league away to Hockering. This point meant alot however to Fakenham and they can use it to spur them on for their remaining 4 games, promotion still not guaranteed some important games still to come.

Women’s Football East – Player of the Match

Onto this afternoons Women’s Football East – Player of the Match, certainly a tough one to narrow it down to one but I’ll do my best. Abbie Walker a real threat on either wing for Taverham getting forwards and creating opportunities for herself and others in front of goal, Summer Rogers in the middle put in some good tackles was the player more often than not keeping Fakenham penned back in their own half. For Fakenham it was a battling display back to the walls with the bare 11 but credit to them especially the back for and Chloe Easter in goal making some great saves. Have chosen Sian Sands a captains performance at the heart of defence and of course the scorer of the all important penalty.

Good to see both sides in action especially Taverham my first look at them having done enough positive reports in The Round-Up all season, appreciate the help form both teams this afternoon.
