The Round-Up

Sunday 27th January

Suffolk Women’s Division

The Suffolk Women’s Division table adjusted now following the withdrawal from the league of Haverhill Rovers Ladies Reserves, points and goals scored against them now removed from the league standings, it sees some altering of position. East Bergholt United Ladies still lead the way although their 36-0 win over Haverhill gone now reduces their goal difference significantly but still stands at +64. Their 100% winning record continued this Sunday on the road were away to Brightlingsea Regents Ladies. Jessica Scott getting the opening goal for Brightlingsea. East Bergholt getting back on level terms going onto take the lead adding another to lead 3-1 at half-time. The visitors going on to find the back of the net for 4 more goals to win the game 7-1. Both Annie Northwood and Stacey Teager netting a brace. There were goals to for Jessica Clark, Cara Savage and Katie Bruce.

Needham Market Women in 2nd remain 3 points behind East Bergholt the readjusted table seeing the pair close in the goal difference front too now, Needham Market scoring plenty have a +61 GD, if the 100% slips they are in a great position to pounce (if being the operative word) going strong in 2nd place however the new side had a tough game at the weekend up against Coplestonians Ladies new look young side. A jade Fox goal seeing the hosts hold the lead at half-time Needham Market came back to level the scores in the 2nd half and go on to clinch a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Milly Carter and Amber Sparkes.

Alresford Colne Rangers are now up to 3rd in the Suffolk Women’s Division table, had an away trip to Brettvale this Sunday. Brettvale new to the league this season bringing in additional players recently and useful experience with them. That proving the difference in a high scoring game with the sides sharing 8 goals between them. Donna Leggett scoring for the 1st time this season for Alresford there was a brace too for Tiffany Reeves taking her onto 13 for the season. 3 goals for Alresford not enough to see them take anything from the game as new signing Tarnya McKew scored a hat-trick for Brettvale, Kelly Hannington bagging herself a brace too as Brettvale claimed the 3 points with a 5-3 win.

It’s all got very congested in the middle of the table with Leiston St Margarets winning big at the weekend climbing up the table into 5th position. Were away to the new sides at the bottom University of Suffolk Women. Thalia Cloke racing up the goal scoring charts for Leiston St Margarets scored 5 on Sunday to move onto 12 for the season. Lucy Eagles top scorer currently hitting a hat-trick to go to 16 for the campaign. Two goals for Sarah Cooper, with Grace Pemberton and Justine Young also getting a goal a piece, a first Leiston St Margarets goal for Young in a 12-1 win.

Another side firmly in that mid-table cluster are Woodbridge Town Ladies,up into 6th position now moving above their opponent from the weekend Walsham Le Willows Ladies. Woodbridge the visitors leading 2-0 at half-time with Caitlin Howe scoring both goals. Howe going on to complete her hat-trick in the 2nd half to see Woodbridge win the game 3-0. Just two points separating the side placed 5th to 8th.
