Suffolk Women’s Division
Five games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday joint leaders Needham Market Women Reserves and Brettvale Ladies not in action. Needham Markets trip to Bury Town Women falling foul of the weather. Brettvale actually moving 3 points clear at the top awarded a home win against Ramsey & Mistley Ladies. The fourth game so far in just 7 Brettvale have been awarded the points. Yes a perfect record but a hungry squad keen to play games having to sit another weekend out.
With the side immediately above them not playing 4th placed Alresford Colne Ladies took full advantage winning at home to move 3 points clear of 3rd placed Bury Town and go level on points with Needham Market. Making it a 3rd straight league win too. At home to Woodbridge Town Ladies the sides meeting in the reverse fixture a month ago, Woodbridge with a good result winning 3-0. Kiera Hines getting a goal in that fixture on target for a brace this Sunday. Alresford have plenty of players within thier squad contributing goals this season found the back of the Woodbridge net for 3 goals themselves to win the match. Georgia Egner getting on the scoresheet with her 5th goal of the season. Vicky Hall with her 3rd of the season, there was a first goal of the season too for captain Donna Leggett.
Also meeting in the league a month after their first encounter were Henley Athletic Ladies and Leiston St Margarets Ladies. The game at Leiston St Margarets finishing goalless. The return fixture seeing Henley Athletic hosting no less a tight affair this time around Henley Athletic coming back from a goal down to win the match 2-1. Grace Pemberton firing Leiston St Margarets into the lead. Shorolla Allen and Emma Long with her 5th goal of the season turning things around for Henley Athletic to see them win for the 4th time this season to close the gap on 4th placed Bury Town.
AFC Kesgrave Ladies also moving up the table this weekend into the top 6 of the Suffolk Women’s Division winning at home against bottom side University of Suffolk Women. The visitors managing to get 11 players an improvement on recent games matching AFC Kesgrave who themselves only had the bare 11 available. Ashley Bustos doubling her goals tally for the season scoring a brace for Kesgrave. Jade Cox getting a goal with three more players celebrating their first goals for the season in a 6-0 win. Alice Theobald, Lottie Aldous and Felicity Cooper making her first start of the season.
Brantham Athletic Ladies ending their early season slump have found some form to start moving back up the Suffolk Women’s Division a 3rd straight win in league and cup now. This Sunday at home taking on Chantry Grasshoppers Ladies. A bare 11 to for Brantham Athletic they nevertheless came out on top Danielle Harvey amongst the goals at the start of the season firing Brantham into a early lead would go on to add a 2nd in the 34th minute with Sophie Crabtree scoring in between to see the hosts leading 3-1 at the break. Ivika Thomson with the goal for Chantry Grasshoppers her first for the club. Crabtree with her 2nd of the match putting Brantham 4-1 up on the hour. Merlin Watson on target to make it 5-1 5 minutes later. Harvey going on to complete her hat-trick and add a 4th goal in the final ten minutes to take her to 9 goals for the season and see Brantham Athletic win 7-1.
Holland Ladies in 8th position in the Suffolk Women’s Division have now won 3 in a row in the league since suffering an opening day loss to Needham Market Women Reserves. Have played just 4 league games and have games in hand on all the sides above. Travelled to play Brightlingsea Regent Ladies this Sunday their fellow Essex side showing good recent form themselves with 3 straight league wins. Hannah Goldsmith scoring goals for Brightlingsea adding another this weekend to take her joint top scorer with Lucy Tilbury on 9 goals. Holland confident themselves in good form winning the match 4-1 to collect the 3 points. Becky McDougall scoring twice to put her on 6 for the season. Charlotte Warren also no target to get a goal along with Elise Purser scoring her first goal for the club.
