The Round-Up
Sunday 8th September
Suffolk Women’s Division
The last one of the week but certainly not least, just because it’s the shortest this weekends action from the Suffolk Women’s Division beating the rest of the county leagues to it starting last weekend there were 3 fixtures played this Sunday with some eye watering scorelines.
Needham Market Women starting up a new Reserves side this season began with and 11-1 win. Now I’ve had a chance to see the squads for both sides, there 1st team winning 9-1 in their opening fixture in the ERWFL Cup it’s safe to say Needham Market’s Reserve side will be strong in the Suffolk Women’s Division. Were at home to Chantry Grasshoppers Ladies this Sunday racked up another huge win with 4 players going on to claim a hat-trick, Lois Balfour, Hannah Cobbold, Katie Moore and Abbie Wilkinson. Leading 7-0 at half-time went on to win 16-0 with Amy Trenter, Taylor May Cooke and Ashleigh Goddard also scoring.
That though wasn’t the highest score of the weekend as Bury Town Ladies demolished newcomers Ramsey & Mistley Ladies… 22-0! A tough start to life for Ramsey & Mistley coming up against a very experienced side, Bury Town formerly Walsham Le Willows adding Kirsten Hutchings to their squad, she was on target for 4 goals alone along with Holly Turbill. Top scorer however goes to Julie Brind with a double hat-trick. Mia Bambury scoring a hat-trick with a brace each for Helen Cryer and Kirsty Pollard. Stacey Roper also scoring.
Just to prove close games do happen the final game of the weekend to bring you feature Alresford Colne Rangers at home to Leiston St Margarets both sides starting the season with a win two goals for Georgia Egner saw Alresford edge out their opponents 2-1 to collect the 3 points. Lucy Eagles scoring the goal for Leiston St Margarets.
