The Round-Up

It was a full programme of fixtures in the Suffolk Women’s Division this weekend with no games falling foul of the weather. All 8 sides in action it was top half versus bottom half and the top half came out very much on top! League leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development made it 9 games unbeaten with a 4-0 win at home to 5th placed Bacton United Ladies. Sian Cottrell scoring a brace to take her into double figure for the season along side Emily Steward who also scored in the match, with Deborah Greaves also on target scoring her 1st goal for Ipswich.
2nd placed Walsham Le Willow Ladies won comfortably at home against 6th placed Leiston St Margarets Ladies on Sunday scoring 8 goals without reply moving them onto 49 goals scored in 9 matches played so far this season. 6 points back from leaders Ipswich their is a fierce battle developing below in 3rd spot Brantham Athletic Ladies continue to keep pace with Walsham Le Willows with 19 points from 9 played winning at home on Sunday against Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Kirsten Hutchings (pictured) scoring a hat-trick in the match along with a goal each for Heather Andrews, Lauren Page and Rebecca Prime in a 6-0 victory.
Was also a big win away from home for 4th placed East Bergholt United Ladies who are just a point behind Walsham Le Willows and Brantham Athletic having also played 9 games. Were playing Copleston Ladies. Both Jessica Clark and Jessica Oxlade hit a brace in the match with a goal a piece for Jodie Sharp and Cara Savage, an own goal too seeing the visitors win 7-0. Will be interesting to see if anyone from the chasing pack can challenge Ipswich Town Ladies Development’s unbeaten record in the next few months.
