Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Netherton United Ladies blistering start to the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship continues as they stretch their winning run at the start of the season to 5 games 6 points clear at the top of the table away to newly promoted March Town United Ladies this weekend. Alice MacNicol putting the visitors into the lead on the half hour. A narrow lead for Netherton at half-time substitute Carmen Giles making it 2-0 midway through the 2nd half to secure their 5th league win.

Also starting the season with a 100% winning start are 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies 3 wins from 3 to begin their league campaign behind Netherton United on games played due to their run in the FA Women’s Cup a trip to Cambridge University Women who usually strong opponents in this league have started with 2 defeats. Newmarket continued their fine form with no less than 4 players scoring a brace on Sunday, Abbie Marshall, Brooke Wickens, Hollie Turner and Sarah O’Rourke. Laura Bailey and Lauren Deller also grabbing themselves a goal in a 10-1 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Wisbech Town Ladies strong start to the season in the Championship North was brought to an end on Sunday away to local rivals Wisbech St Mary Ladies a battling contest between the 2 sides it was a narrow 2-1 results of Wisbech St Mary an own goal along with a goal for Carlie Knight seeing the 3 points won Wisbech St Mary making it 2 league wins from 2 in 4th games in hand on the 3 sides above.

With Wisbech Town Ladies losing at the weekend Ketton Ladies level on points in 2nd took advantage with a good away win against Spalding United Ladies to move 3 points clear at the top of the table with their 4th win of the season. 4 goals for Fran Kavanagh as well as a goal each for Claire Lawrenson and Emma Ward sealing a 6-1 win. Kate Amess scoring the goal for Spalding United Ladies.

A late start to the season for Swineshead Institute Ladies who have been searching for new players to bolster their squad. Fielding a side this weekend started their campaign at home to 3rd placed Hungate Rovers Ladies. Ewelina Jerzak and Bianca Towler scoring for the visitors, Swineshead responded with 2 goals of their own to see the points shared.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

2 games played in the Championship South this Sunday with the top 4 all in action. Leaders Histon Ladies Reserves 3 points clear of 2nd placed Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds with with both sides starting the season with 100% records a chance for Fulbourn hosting to end Histon’s record and move level on points likewise Histon could move 6 points clear at the top with a 4th straight league win. Histon held a narrow lead at the break 1-0. Were made to work for the win 2nd half as Fulbourn scored twice their goalscorers Emma Clark and Yasmin Upson. Histon though hit 3 more goals in the 2nd period to win the game 4-2 with both Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks and Philippa Hayden-Evans netting twice.

3rd v 4th with Isleham United Ladies at home to Cambridge Rangers Women on Sunday both on 3 points, shared the points in the end drawing 2-2, Nicole Bailey and Jade Flack on target for Isleham. Cambridge Rangers goals an own goal plus a strike from Cornelia Buettner. Into mid October and Milton Ladies and St Ives Town Ladies Development yet to kick off in the league.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premier Division

Two matches played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday and a big win at home for Netherton United Ladies saw them keep up their 100% winning start to the season. Taking on Cambridge University Women at The Grange. A 28th minute penalty scored by Yasmin Green saw the home side hold a narrow 1st half lead. The 2nd half a different story Netherton United going on to score 6 goals to take the 3 points with a 7-0 win to make it 4 wins from 4, Emily Johnson and Georgina Parrett both with a brace, Megan Parrett and Jenna Nairn with a goal a piece.

It was a 7-0 win too for St Ives Town Ladies away from home at the weekend playing March Town United Ladies. Two goals for both Tierney Coulson and Georgia Stancombe along with goals for Amy Seymour-Shove and Connie Liddiard plus an own goals securing their 2nd win of the season the result moving them into 2nd in the Premiership table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

There were also two matches played in the Championship North this weekend and a big win at home for Ketton Ladies saw them move level on points with Wisbech Town Ladies at the top of the table. Need goals too if anyone is going to eat into Wisbech Town’s already formidable goal difference. Taking on bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies, Fran Kavanagh top scored for Ketton netting 8 goals. Claire Lawrenson scoring a hat-trick as did Emma Ward. Estelle Bonnamour, Catie Martin and Lauren McKeever also getting a goal each in a 17-0 win.

Hungate Rovers Ladies won for the 2nd time this season to climb up to 3rd in the Championship North table this Sunday at home were playing Spalding United Ladies. Goals from Katie Ingram, Kelsey McKenna, Ewelina Jerzak and Laura Punter securing the 3 points with a 4-2 result. Hannah Dennis and Emily Price scoring the goals for Spalding.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Two matches played in the Championship South this Sunday. 3 wins from 3 to start the season see Histon Ladies Reserves open up a 3 point lead at the top of the early table. A big win away to Cambridge Rangers. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks adding another 4 goals to her tally. A brace each for Philippa Hayden-Evans and Heather Cousins with Amanda Binge also grabbing a goal in a 9-0 win.

Isleham United Ladies pick up their 1st league win of the season in their 3rd attempt away to new side Burwell Tigers. Lily Turner scoring a hat-trick there were also goals for Amy Ellis, Anita Butters and Amy Griffin in a 6-1 win the 3 points lifting Isleham United all the way up to 3rd in the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Netherton United Ladies extended their winning run at the start of the season to 3 games in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership at the weekend. Away to Cambridge City Development. A brace for Sasha Haw giving Netherton a 2-0 half-time lead the advantage was doubled in the 2nd half goals from Alice MacNichol in the last 15 minutes and Emily Johnson securing the points with a 4-0 win.

Newmarket Town Ladies go 2nd in the table as they won their 2nd match in the Premiership to keep up their own 100% winning start. Away to ICA Sports Ladies. Goals from Jess Linger, Lauren Deller, Hollie Turner and Abbie Marshall seeing Newmarket take all 3 points courtesy of a 4-1 win. Jessica Farchina scoring for ICA Sports.

A big win at home for St Ives Town ladies saw them win their 1st league game of the season were at home to Park Ladies. Amy Seymour-Shove netting 4 times in the game. Georgia Stancombe with a hat-trick Tierney Coulson also scoring an own goal completing a 9-2 winning margin the 3 points putting St Ives into 3rd spot in the fledgling Premiership table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Battle between the top two in the Cambridgeshire Championship North on Sunday with leaders Wisbech Town Ladies away to 2nd placed Ketton Ladies both winning their 2 opening matches in contrasting fashion, Wisbech Town hitting 32 goals without reply in their 2 games, Ketton clinching a narrow win against Hungate Rovers home and away to get their 6 points. A closer game for Wisbech Town this time around Wisbech Town ending Ketton’s winning start beating them by 3 goals to 1 to move onto 9 points 3 clear at the top of the table. 2 more goals for striker Sophie Gutteridge along with a strike from Shushannah Feast.

Starting the season with 2 narrow defeats against Ketton Ladies, Hungate Rovers Ladies were away to new side Pinchbeck United Ladies at the weekend. Kelsey McKenna found the back of the net scoring 7 goals in the game for Hungate Rovers. Lauren Barnes scoring a brace with Bianca Taylor also grabbing herself a goal in a 10-0 win that see Hungate Rovers up to 3rd with the sides below playing less games.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Just the one match played in the Championship South at the weekend 3rd placed Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds at home to 2nd placed Cambridge Rangers Women both starting the season with a win. Early days in the league a handful of games played 2 sides yet to get off the mark. Marie Stubbings was on target scoring 5 goals for Fulbourn with Emma Clark and Yasmine Upson getting a goal a piece to see Fulbourn win 7-1 and move to the top of the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup this weekend with Championship South side Histon Ladies Reserves hosting Championship North side Spalding United Ladies in the 1st Round. A huge win for Histon to see them progress. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks top scoring in the match with 5 goals. Elsewhere the goals were shared out Samantha Cousins getting a brace. Daniella Briggs, Katrina Brown, Hannah Gordon, Katie Webb, Sophie Wing, Carly Dawson and Casey Bull all getting a goal in a 14-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Netherton United Ladies came back from a goal down to win 3-1 to make it 2 wins from 2 at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership at a local derby match at home to ICA Sports Ladies it was the visitors who took an early lead Clare Knibbs putting ICA Sports 1-0 up in the 9th minute. Held onto that lead for almost an hour before Netherton found a reply captain Megan Parrett levelling the scores for Netherton. Soon after ICA Sports were reduced to 10 Donna Nicholls sent off. A player advantage Netherton went on to take the lead with 15 minutes left, Yasmin Green scoring. Parrett making sure of the 3 points scoring her 2nd of the game with a couple of minutes left.

Promoted as Championship South Champions last season Cambridge City Ladies Development started the new season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership away to Park Ladies. Erin Fox netting a brace for the visitors there were goals to for Rachel Pearce, Molly White and Morgan Want in a 5-0 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

In the Championship North, Wisbech Town Ladies have scored a whopping 32 goals in their opening two games without reply to lead the table. 14-0 last weekend to Orton Rangers were at home this Sunday to new side Pinchbeck United Ladies a tough beginning for the young side. Sophie Gutteridge scoring a double hat-trick last Sunday went one better this time around netting 7 times. Chloe Riches also claiming 4 goals to her name with Annie Rooks grabbing a hat-trick. Faye Kowalewsky scoring twice along with a goal for both Kaylie Swinden and Katie Garner in a crushing 18-0 scoreline.

Keeping up with Wisbech Town Ladies with points gained if not goals scored are Ketton Ladies 2 wins from 2 as they edged out Hungate Rovers Ladies in a close game for the 2nd successive weekend winning 4-3 on their patch last weekend Ketton travelling to Hungate this time around. The score 3-2 to Ketton this time around.

Lauren Laws scored 5 goals for Wisbech St Mary Ladies as they began their season at home to newcomers Spalding United Ladies on Sunday. Carlie Knight, Megan Ratcliffe and Abi Roach-Smith also getting a goal for Wisbech St Mary in their opening game the 8-0 putting them into 3rd position.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

In the Championship South, 2 wins from 2 for Histon Ladies Reserves sees them lead the way. Only one game played in the league on Sunday. Histon travelling to play Isleham United Ladies. Philippa Hayden-Evans amongst the goals for the away side finding the back of the net on 4 occasions. Angelica Fachechi, Sarah Freestone and Emma Gillespie also scoring for Histon who ran out 7-2 winners. Nicole Bailey and Rebekah Finch with Isleham United’s goals.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

March Town United Ladies were at home to Orton Rangers Ladies in the opening round of the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup the Premiership side too strong for their Championship North opponents progressing with a comfortable 6-0 victory. Captain, Shannon Kelly scoring a hat-trick, with a brace for Emma Frost and a goal for Shannon Shaw.

The women’s county league season began in Cambridgeshire this Sunday with their once again being 3 divisions the Premiership and Championships North & South. 24 sides all together with sadly a few drop-outs before the season began. 8 sides in each league. Think all 3 leagues will be competitive at the top with several sides in contention for top spot over the season.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Last season’s Premiership Champion’s Cambridge United WFC Reserves have moved up into Regional football. Bar Hill Ladies are no more hoping to set-up with a different club the move hasn’t happened this season. Joining the Premiership this season are March Town United Ladies and Cambridge City Ladies Development, Championship North & South Champions respectfully last season. 3 matches played in the Premiership on the opening Sunday.

Netherton United Ladies finished runners-up in both the league and league cup final last season. Began this season away to Park Ladies. Captain, Megan Parrett scoring a hat-trick for Netherton with striker Yasmin Green bagging a brace on the opening day a goal too for Alice MacNichol seeing the visitors start the season with a confident win 6-0 to sit top of the pile.

March Town United Ladies began life in the top flight in Cambridgeshire with a trip to Peterborough to play ICA Sports Ladies. Goals for Shannon Shaw and Emma Frost seeing March win the 3 points in their opening fixture to set them on their way.

St Ives Town Ladies were hosting Newmarket Town Ladies in their opening league fixture in the Premiership. Both were in confident mood having won their matches the previous weekend in the FA Women’s Cup 1st Round Qualifying. A competitive rivalry growing between the two sides both ambitious and wanting to win the Premiership title. Will also face each other in the Championship South this season with Newmarket having an established Reserves side, St Ives Town beginning a Development side this season. A close contest between the pair, Anna Hicks scoring for St Ives, it was Newmarket who won the 3 points on the opening day winning 2-1, goals for Cindy Ponder and new signing Brooke Wickens.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Wisbech Town Ladies began their season in the Championship North with a huge away win as they played Orton Rangers Ladies starting their 2nd season moving from the Championship South last season. A tough start to life in the Championship North against a side that should if they can find some consistency be amongst those gunning for top spot. Certainly couldn’t have started any better running up a double figure winning score. Sophie Gutteridge starting her season with a double hat-trick. There was a hat-trick to for Chloe Riches. Faye Kowalewsky scoring a brace, with goals to for Shushannah Feast, Annie Rooks and Emma Woods the final score 14-0 to Wisbech.

A much tighter contest in the other opening day fixture in the Championship North with Ketton Ladies hosting Hungate Rovers Ladies. A 7 goal thriller between the sides Kesley McKenna scoring a brace along with a goal for Laura Punter for Hungate Rovers. It wasn’t enough to take anything from the match as Ketton scored 4 in reply to start the season with a 4-3 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

3 matches played in the Championship South on the opening weekend and a great start to the season for Cambridge Rangers Women in recent seasons at the wrong end of the table find themselves top after the opening day. Traditionally kicking off their home games at 11am were hosting new side Burwell Tigers. Robyn Barlow scoring a hat-trick for Cambridge Rangers along the way to an 8-1 win, 2 players netting a brace Rebecca Lewis and Cornelia Buettner with Stephanie Rowan also on the scoresheet. Vicky Murrell with the goal for Burwell Tigers.

Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds began the season with an away game against Isleham United Ladies. Marie Stubbings getting Fulbourn’s season off to a fantastic start scoring 4 goals in the game with Katie Luddy and Yasmin Upson both scoring too in a 6-1 victory. Vicky Beeton netting for Isleham.

Newmarket Town Reserves began their season at home to the newly formed Histon Ladies Reserves. The visitors coached by Ian Freestone formerly of Milton Ladies has a few former Milton players in the Histon squad including a very familiar name to readers of The Round-Up, Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks a prolific goalscorer netting 71 goals in her previous 2 seasons. A close contest away to Newmarket, Dominika Szary and Kate Silver scoring for the home side. Samantha Cousins scoring twice for Histon along with a strike by Lemmon-Sparks to see the new side start with a win.

Cambridgeshire – Sunday 14th May

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Final day of the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Treble winners, Cambridge United WFC Reserves had already secured the league, but the positions below them remained up for grabs, the Champions were at home on Sunday taking on Netherton United Ladies currently holding 2nd place a point or better would secure runners-up spot.

It was Netherton who took the lead in the game Megan Strickland putting the ball home in the 14th minute. The lead didn’t last long however Cambridge scoring from a corner 3 minutes later. A straight red card for Cambridge’s Kirsty Geal as she handled the ball inside the box the referee sending her off awarding Netherton a penalty which captain Megan Parrett duly dispatched to see the visitors lead 2-1. The scores were levelled once again Strickland putting the ball into her own net trying to defend a corner. 2-2 at half-time Netherton were to go and and take the lead for a 3rd time Natalie Gaches scoring to make it 3-2. Netherton going on to win the game and secure 2nd. Further red cards were shown as tempers flared with Cambridge ending the game with 8 on the pitch, 2 players shown a 2nd yellow, not the end to the season Cambridge United WFC Reserves were looking for in manager Kevin Hoover’s last game in charge however a memorable season for the side looking to provide a strong supporting role to the 1st team as they step up to the next level.

After a shaky start to the season a good run at the end seeing Netherton finish both runner-up to Cambridge United WFC Reserves in both the league and league cup final a good platform to push on next season. You can read the clubs report for the game by clicking on the link below.

Cambridge United WFC Reserves 2-3 Netherton United Ladies

Newmarket Town Ladies had been leading the Premiership table for much of the season with Cambridge United WFC Reserves, results going against them towards the end of the season had slipped to 5th place, one game left could reclaim 4th with a good result at home against ICA Sports Ladies. Goals from Nadine Basson, Abbi Griffin, Lauren Deller, Dominika Szary along with a brace for Jordanne Sillitoe saw Newmarket Town end on a high with a 6-1 win, securing 4th spot, the club is ambitious however and 4th isn’t what they were looking for. Shannon Coupland with the goal for ICA Sports Ladies.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

The Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North has a handful of games left before it concludes next Sunday. March Town United Ladies are Champions, will be playing in the Premiership next season having been out in front all season. The sides below them have changed positions regularly, some looking strong at the start falling away towards the end of the season, others starting slow getting better as the season progressed. March Town United were away to Boston United Ladies new to the league this season were slow starters but have bolstered there squad during the season getting better, got off to a flyer against March leading 3-0 inside the opening 20 minutes, Tracey Duxbury-Mead and Demi Barai amongst the goals. March responded pushing forwards Georgia Brown hitting the inside of the post with a 30 yard strike then went on to score pull it back to 3-1 but ultimately March were left frustrated creating good opportunities to score whilst goalkeeper Tori Sharpe kept them in the game up the other end lost for the 2nd time this season.

Boston United climb up into 2nd spot with the 3 points as they finish a positive 1st season. Can only be caught by Swineshead Institute Ladies now in 4th at home to Wisbech St Mary Ladies this coming Sunday.

Wisbech St Mary Ladies had a good result at home in their penultimate game of the season taking on bottom side Thurlby Tigers who were playing for the last time this season. Lauren Laws putting Wisbech St Mary into the lead in the 2nd minute. Catherine Ray and Frances Peeling both scored to see the home side 3-0 after just 15 minutes. Thurlby kept their goal intact from further damage in the 1st half. Ray with her 2nd of the game made it 4-0 10 minutes into the 2nd half. A 2nd goal of the game for Laws too with 15 minutes left before Peeling wrapped up a hat-trick with 2 more goals in the last 10 minutes to see Wisbech St Mary win 7-0.

Hungate Rovers Ladies were away to Peterborough based P&L Motors Diamonds in their final match of the season scoring twice through Katie Ingram and Laura Punter it wasn’t enough for Hungate Rovers to secure a 4th win of the season as they went down 3-2. P&L Motors Diamonds are away to March Town United Ladies for their final game in their 1st season as a team a point would see them secure a 5th place finish.

Cambridgeshire – Sunday 7th May

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership there was just the one game played on Sunday with St Ives Town Ladies hosting Cambridge University Women both playing their final match of the season. Cambridge University with the chance to secure 2nd spot in the table with a win took the lead in the 12th minute through Kate Ross. Were forced to play with 10 players after travelling with the bare 11 at a turned ankle seeing one of their number unable to continue. Despite that held on to the lead in an action packed flowing game until the closing stages St Ives Town ending strongly getting up the other end to score twice with goals from Lucy Sheeran and Sasha Smith to win 2-1 climb above Newmarket Town Ladies into 4th on goal difference.

Also some great news announced by St Ives Town Ladies today, following a high demand from players wanting to join the club are starting up a new Development side. to compliment the 1st team which is progressing nicely in its 1st 2 seasons.

A distorted run in somewhat in the Premiership as Bar Hill Ladies have ha to concede their last 6 games due to pitch unavailability issues amongst other things late in the season having started strongly would have been a factor in the title race a shame. A couple of games left Treble winners Cambridge United WFC Reserves taking on 2nd placed Netherton United Ladies. Newmarket Town Ladies 3 points back in 5th now will be looking for a big score at home to ICA Sports Ladies to finish as high as they can.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

March Town Ladies were celebrating at the weekend after they got the result they needed to win the Cambridgeshire Championship North title and with it promotion to the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership nest season. Came without kicking a competitive ball after opponents Thurlby Tigers bottom of the league couldn’t field a side. Awarded the home win March Town United are Champions can’t be caught with 2 games left to play.

We have a fantastic bunch of committed players with a great team spirit. With March Town Reserves also gaining promotion, it has been a strong season for the Hares and one to build on’.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Cambridge United WFC Reserves have achieved an amazing treble as they won at the weekend to wrap up the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership title. Having won in midweek away to fellow title contenders Newmarket Town Ladies 3-1 knew one more win would secure the league to add to the Junior Invitation Cup and League Cup already in the bank. Were at home to another potential title hopeful and often close rival Cambridge University Women. Goals from Lauren Gibson and Ebony Rule taking the strike duo onto 18 & 19 goals respectfully along with a goal from Faith Hewitt seeing Cambridge United WFC Reserves to a 3-0 win.

Congratulations to Cambridge United WFC Reserves on their fantastic achievement.

That midweek loss to Cambridge United WFC Reserves dealt a hammer blow to Newmarket Town Ladies own title hopes needing their rivals to drop points now it was vital they picked up maximum points from their final games. Were at home this Sunday taking on St Ives Town Ladies. A result that could have gone either way a single goal settled the game and it was St Ives Town Ladies leaving the Ridgeons Stadium with the win, Hannah Seymour Shove scoring the winning goal.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

With league leaders March Town United Ladies not in action this Sunday it was a chance for their closest rival 2nd placed Swineshead Institute Ladies to close the gap to 3 points as they travelled to place 2nd bottom side Hungate Rovers Ladies. But despite a goal for Ellie Spendlow, Swineshead became unstuck suffering defeat as Hungate Rovers won the game 3-1 to record just their 3rd league win of the season.

That loss saw Wisbech Town Ladies take advantage and climb above them into 2nd spot as they were taking on local rivals Wisbech St Mary Ladies for the 2nd successive weekend winning at home last Sunday made it a double win taking all 3 points in the away fixture Sophie Gutteridge scoring all of their goals in a 4-1 victory. The league title in the Cambridgeshire Championship South has already been settled, Cambridge City Ladies Development taking the title. Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves are now confirmed as runners-up after results went their way at the weekend. The only side who could catch them Milton Ladies at home to 2nd bottom Cambridge Rangers. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks took her seasons goals tally to 32 with a brace but it wasn’t enough to secure the 3 points as Cambridge Rangers found the back of the net at the other end to take home a good point. Milton dropping to 4th with Fulbourn Bluebirds getting awarded a home win against bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies in their final fixture.

5th placed Riverside Reserves were at home to Isleham United Ladies in their penultimate league game. Amy Magnus and Hannah Stubbs both netting a brace in the game with a goal each for Clare Knibbs and Jess Hill seeing the home side win 6-1. Louisa Harwood with the goal for Isleham United Ladies who finish 6th.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

The Round-Up generally covers all the action from the previous Sunday however at this time of year as clubs and the county FA’s try to get all their fixtures played we can have football all over the place so this edition of the Cambridgeshire Round-Up starts Friday night with Cambridge United WFC Reserves playing Netherton United Ladies in the League Cup Final. Netherton United reaching their 1st ever final, Cambridge United WFC Reserves into their 3rd successive final looking to win it this time around and complete a cup double after winning the Junior Invitation Cup the week before.

The sides 1st and 2nd in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership looked fairly evenly matched in the early exchanges Cambridge holding a deep line inviting Netherton on left room at the back, goalkeeper Katie Cooper showing early on she was prepared to come racing out of her box if necessary. Cambridge took the lead from a corner kick Liz Pamplin header going back across goal headed home by Ebony Rule at the near post. Her strike partner Lauren Gibson made it 2-0 as she took the ball past the onrushing Cooper at the top of her area then keeping her composure picked her spot to make it 2-0. Netherton pushed early on for a reply to try and get back into the game risked getting caught at the back, and it was Cambridge who went on to extend their lead from another corner substitute Faith Hewitt heading the ball down towards the far post Rule on hand to bundle the ball home for her 2nd of the game Cambridge winning the League Cup Final 3-0.

Cambridge United WFC Reserves aren’t just settled for a cup double however they are looking to make it a treble with the league title aswell were in action again just last night. However before then the action from Sunday, just the one league game in the Premiership with Cambridge University Women at home to ICA Sports Ladies. Amanda Wainwright hit a hat-trick in the game with Maude Gibbins scoring a brace, Sophia D’Angelo also getting a goal in a 6-2 win, Carmen Herridge scoring both goals for ICA Sports Ladies. The 3 points moving Cambridge University 3rd spot above Newmarket Town Ladies both on 24 points along with 2nd placed Netherton United. St Ives Town Ladies were awarded the home win against Bar Hill Ladies.

Pressure on the Round-Up with a match on a Tuesday night, the Supporting Women’s Football Blog off to Newmarket to watch them take on leaders Cambridge United WFC Reserves. A win for Newmarket Town would put them 2 points above Cambridge United, a win for the away side however would see them go 4 points clear at the top of the table. Sun cream needed on Sunday it was positively freezing at the Rigdeons Stadium with a hailstorm prior to the match. A new challenge too for the match notes Cambridge United having picked up their new shirts had no numbers printed upon the back, goo job I’d seen them 4 days ago.

Newmarket had the opportunity to take the lead in the opening 10 minutes the referee spotting an infringement inside the box pointing to the penalty spot. Cindy Ponder firing her shot straight at Sarah Carroll the goalkeeper holding onto the ball. Midway through the 1st half Cambridge took the lead themselves Lauren Gibson heading home from a corner kick, then 5 minutes before half time turned home a superb effort from the top of the area. 2-0 the advantage at half-time Newmarket pressed for a reply only for Gibson to go on and complete her hat-trick running onto Tahnee Perfect’s ball into the area to slide it past the keeper. In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North leaders March Town United Ladies keep their lead at the top to 6 points after coming from 2-0 down away to P&L Motors Diamonds with 25 minutes left to win the game 3-2. Emma Searle scoring from a 25 yard free-kick pulled it back to 2-1 then Shannon Kelly lobbing the keeper brought it back to 2-2 then in the last 5 minutes, Pollyanna Harvey flicked the ball home scoring the winning goal seeing March Town United return home with all the points.

Swineshead Institute Ladies remain March Town United’s closest rivals as they won at home taking on 2nd bottom Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday Ellie Spendlow scoring twice with a goal a piece for Leah Ardron, Kirsty Hewitt and Gabrielle Smith in a 5-0 victory.

Wisbech Town Ladies are 2 points further back in 3rd place in the Championship North table as they came out on top of the Wisbech derby at home to Wisbech St Mary Ladies on Sunday. A brace from Sophie Gutteridge taking her onto 22 goals for the season sealing the 3 points. An injury for Wisbech St Mary’s player Annalise Scales who broke her leg in the game, Women’s Football East wishes her a full and speedy recovery.

Ketton Ladies moved up to 4th position in the table as they edged out Boston United Ladies at home 3-2 on Sunday. Ketton were in action at home again last night hosting P&L Motors Diamonds the visitors beating Ketton soundly 10-1 under the lights.

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South Champions, Cambridge City Ladies Development were away to bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies on Sunday. The home side scoring twice in the 1st half Cambridge City matching them before going on to win 5-2 in the 2nd half, Amy Reed scoring a hat-trick, with a brace for Rachel Littlewood. The win seeing Cambridge City end their season unbeaten in the league on 40 points just the 2 points dropped aswell as runners-up in the Junior Invitation Cup a great 1st season.

Fulbourn Bluebirds in 4th position in the Championship South table close the gap to 3rd placed Milton Ladies to just a point with a good away result to Isleham United Ladies on Sunday. Sharon Pinner getting a hat-trick along with a goal each for Emma Clark and Sarah Gee in a 5-0 win.

5th placed Riverside Reserves were away to Cambridge Rangers on Sunday in an 11am kick-off Amy Magnus claimed a brace in a 4-0 win with Clare Knibbs and Gemma Fitzjohn also finding the back of the net.

4 matches played in the leagues in Cambridgeshire this Easter Sunday. Cambridge United WFC Reserves fresh from retaining the Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup Final in midweek were away to Park Ladies a 1st half hat-trick for Ebony Rule along with a goal for Liz Pamplin saw the visitors leading 4-0 at the break went on to find the back of the net for 7 more goals 2nd half, Rule with another 3 to her tally. Pamplin scored another with Lucy Gateson, Kirsty Geal and Tahnee Perfect all getting a goal each the win taking Cambridge United WFC Reserves back to the top of the table a point above Netherton United Ladies and Newmarket Town Ladies. A tough 1st season in the Premiership for Park Ladies finishing bottom losing a few players are looking to get a few new faces in over the summer and hit the ground running once the new season starts you can see their advert on the Club Advertising page if interested.

Was also another big away result in the other game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this weekend with St Ives Town Ladies travelling to Bar Hill Ladies. Amy Seymour-Shove scoring a hat-trick, there were also goals for captain Sasha Smith, Georgia Stancombe, Hannah Seymour-Shove and Jade Carpenter in a 7-0 victory that puts St Ives Town above Bar Hill into 5th position in the Premiership table.

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North, leaders March Town Ladies lost their unbeaten record at home to Swineshead Institute Ladies last Sunday suffering a 4-2 defeat. This Easter Sunday they were on home turf again taking on Ketton Ladies in 6th place. March Town started well taking the lead when Adele Munday’s through ball found Livvi Hodges who took the ball around the goalkeeper to score. Ketton got the scores back to 1-1 10 minutes before the break, Claire Lawrenson formerly of Bourne Ladies striking the ball home from distance to make it 1-1. HT 1-1

The 2nd half could have gone either way, both sides with changes March Town keeper Tori Sharpe saving in a one on one with Ketton’s Fran Kavanagh. It was March Town who found the winning goal with Hodges netting her 2nd of the game her 8th in 4 matches to get them back to winning ways. 6 points clear at the top of the table. Swineshead Institute 2nd after they were awarded an away win against Wisbech St Mary Ladies.

Wisbech Town Lades are up to 3rd in the Championship North table after winning away from home on Easter Sunday. Taking on P&L Motors Diamonds in 7th spot. Sophie Gutteridge was on target with 2 goals in the game. Kimberly Fairweather also scoring a goal her 2nd since joining the club from Bourne Ladies. Zoe Tyhurst getting a goal too for Wisbech Town in a 4-0 win.
