Beds & Herts – Sunday 18th December

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

   Just a handful of games across the 3 Beds & Herts Women’s Division’s to end the year. Two games in Division One with Garston Ladies getting a good result at home to end the year to see them climb up to 3rd place in the league. Were taking on bottom side Letchworth Garden City Eagles. 2 goals each for Vikki Duffy and Gemma Curtis (pictured) plus a goal each for Robyn Blanchard and Bobbi Rhodes helping them to the 3 points with a 6-1 win

A trip to north Bedfordshire in the other Beds & Herts Women’s Division One game at the weekend with St Albans Ladies travelling to play Sharnbrook WFC. The visitors ending 2016 with a great result to pick up the points for their 4th league win of the season moving up to 5th in the table level on 12 points with 4th placed Bishops Stortford Ladies and Garston Ladies as mentioned above in 3rd. Ellie Lovelock giving St Albans Ladies the lead in the 1st half, Katie Grehan scoring in the 2nd half to see St Albans Ladies to a 2-0 victory.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A good result to end the year for Hitchin Belles in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two. Were away for their last match of the season playing league leaders, Flitwick Ladies. A brace from Emily Field plus a goal for Shannon Page seeing them edge the win 3-2 to move onto 12 points in 5th spot in the table.

2nd placed Panshanger Ladies a point behind Flitwick Ladies after defeating them last weekend were away from home for their last match of the year taking on Royston Town Ladies Reserves who they lost too at home 3-2 a fortnight ago. Panshanger started the game brightly creating chances before taking the lead Chemise Huitson scoring to put the 1 up, added a 2nd goal 12 minutes later to see Panshanger extend their lead, Royston Town came back into the game scoring in the last 10 minutes of the 1st half to pull the scores level and go in front with goals from Zoe Quinn, Amber Murray and Charlotte Riley to lead 3-2 at half-time. Both sides found the opposing goalkeeper hard to beat 2nd half no more goals in the game Royston Town doing the double over Panshanger to move up to the Division Two table.

  A 2nd successive defeat for Flitwick at the top sees the table bunching up with just 6 points between the leaders and 6th placed Watton Ladies who like Hitchin Belles, Royston Town Ladies Reserves and 3rd placed Garston FC Ladies 96 all have games in hand on the leading pair. All to play for in 2017.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 Just the one match in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three on Sunday with Potters Bar United Ladies at home to Wheathamsted Ladies both new names to the league this season. In 3rd place in the table Janiece Allen scored all the goals for Potters Bar United to move onto 16 for the season in a 4-1 win. Jackie Sheridan scoring late in the match for Wheathamsted. Potters Bar United join 2nd placed Evergreen Eagles on 12 points having played 3 more games.

Essex – Sunday 18th December

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Lawford Ladies have been leading the Essex Women’s Premier Division table for the whole of the season, keeping Harlow Town Ladies at bay in 2nd spot both sides unbeaten, Harlow Town moving above Lawford last Sunday now end the year leading the table by 5 points winning at home whilst Lawford saw their last match of 2016 postponed. Harlow Town were at home playing 3rd placed Eastern Avenue looking to make it 10 wins from 10 in the league to end a fantastic 1st full year as a club. Won the match 2-0 to move onto 30 points for the season opening up a healthy lead at the top of the Premier Division.

  Confusion surrounds the result in the match between Chelmsford City Ladies and Alresford Colne Rangers as the result is listed as a 4-1 away win for Alresford everywhere bar Chelmsford City Ladies own website that has them as the 4-1 victors and have the 4 goals credited to Mia Brisley, Angela Holden and a brace for Charlotte Palmer. Not the 1st time a result gets listed back to front and will eventually be corrected. The win sees Chelmsford City end 2016 in 5th place in the Premier Division table.

Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies end the year in 6th spot in the Premier Division table with a big win away to Wickford Town Ladies who netted 3 goals in the match, Autumn Ranger, Danielle Dickens and Charlee Twigg all putting the ball into the back of the net. Beacon Hill Rovers hit back with more than double that tally to win the match and the 3 points, Jo Smeaton scoring 4 goals herself in the match, Sam Lloyd, Emma Norton and Amy Pursor all scoring a goal a piece in a 7-3 win.

Chigwell Ladies finished the year with a 3-1 home win against Collier Row Tigers. Their 2nd league victory of the season moving them up to 8th in the Premier Division table. Hollie Butterworth, Amy Smith and Amber Elliot scoring Chigwell’s goals.

Essex Women’s Division One

 The contest for the Essex Women’s Division One title looks to be between new sides Corringham Cosmos and Frontiers Ladies both well clear of the chasing pack as 2016 draws to a close. Corringham Cosmos remaining 3 points ahead of Frontiers in 2nd with a large home win against FC Clacton Ladies who dished out a 14-0 defeat last Sunday were on the wrong end of the result this time around going down 10-0 as Corringham made it 10 wins for the season moving onto 30 points.

   Frontiers Ladies are 3 points back but crucially have 2 games in hand on the league leaders as they recorded their 9th straight win in the league on Sunday at home playing Collier Row Athletic in 5th spot in the Division One table. Frontiers scoring 5 goals without reply to secure the 3 points with Sharon Ferguson scoring a brace, a brace too for Emma Best (pictured) and a goal for Claire Davidson. Frontiers and Corringham Cosmos have yet to play each other in the league, two big games coming in the New Year.

Hatfield Peveral Ladies also new to the league this season end the year in 3rd place in the Division One table with a big away win at Benfleet Villa Ladies on Sunday. Christa Osman scoring 4 goals in the game for the away side with Megan Warner and Michelle Hodgson also scoring a goal each in a 6-1 victory.

 6-1 was also the winning score at home for Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves hosting Wickford Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Charlotte Barnard bagging herself a hat-trick for Chelmsford City with the other 3 goals shared between, Emily Kendle, Emma Sharpe and Kayla-Marie Everett as they win for the 5th time this season to close up with the sides in mid-table.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 18th December

Two matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division to end the year, with the top 2 not in action it was an opportunity for 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies to close the gap on the leaders playing away against Bacton United Ladies. The home side held the advantage at half-time with the score 2-1 Lois Balfour netting a brace. Brantham Athletic got themselves back on level terms to draw the game 2-2 both sides taking a point from the match, Lucy Dunnett and Jessica Ryan scoring the goals for Brantham Athletic.

Elsewhere it was a clash between the bottom two with Leiston St Margarets Ladies hosting Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. The home side moving up a place above Copleston Ladies with a 5-0 win to take the 3 points, Thalia Cloke, Sarah Cooper, Jessica Coxage and Lucy Moran amongst the goals for Leiston St Margarets winning their 2nd league game of the season to end the year on a high.

ERWFL – Sunday 18th December

ERWFL League Cup

Two more sides reached the quarter finals of the ERWFL League Cup this Sunday as the two remaining ties in the competition were played. Royston Town Ladies were at home taking on AFC Sudbury Ladies in the 3rd Round of the competition. It was AFC Sudbury who took the lead with Mia Etheridge putting them one up 15 minutes into the game held onto the lead going into the changing rooms at half-time. Stacey Teager doubling the advantage from the penalty spot 20 minutes into the 2nd half as she was brought down inside the box. Andrea Wright reduced the deficit to 2-1 for Royston Town with 10 minutes left, couldn’t find another goal as AFC Sudbury held onto the lead to progress into the next round. Have a home tie in the quarter finals in February taking on fellow Premier Division side AFC Dunstable Ladies.

Was a Cambridge derby in the other 3rd Round tie in the ERWFL League Cup with Division One side Cambridge City Ladies travelling to the Glassworld Stadium to play Premier Division side, Histon Ladies. New signing Nuala Wayne making her 1st appearance for Cambridge City giving the visitors the lead in the 1st half. Emma Littlewood putting Cambridge City 2-0 up early in the 2nd half the win was assured when Wayne netted her 2nd of the game to see Cambridge City into the quarter finals with a 3-0 win will be away to Acle United Ladies in February.

ERWFL Premier Division

3 games in the ERWFL Premier Division on Sunday to end the year. After 3 successive defeats in league and cup 2nd placed side Bedford Ladies finally got back to winning ways at home ending opponents Brentwood Town Ladies winning streak that had seen them climb up the table with 4 straight league wins. A brace scored by Michelle Byrne along with a hat-trick by Natasha Fensome seeing Bedford win the game 5-1 to move level on points with Haringey Borough Women at the top of the table however Bedford have played 4 more games than their title rivals. Leah Cowan scoring the goal for Brentwood Town Ladies.

Tight in the middle of the ERWFL Premier Division table with just 2 points now separating the sides between 4th and 8th. A single goal was enough to take all 3 points for Writtle Ladies at home to 3rd placed AFC Dunstable Ladies on Sunday the goal scored by Courtney Clarke the win seeing Writtle jump up the league standings to end 2016 in 4th place in the Premier Division.

acle-rowland   It was an Acle United Ladies side depleted by injury and illness that travelled to Essex on Sunday to play Colchester Town Ladies the home side taking full advantage with a good 1st half performance to lead the game 2-0 at half-time. Nancy Butler putting the home side ahead on 16 minutes, Sasha Anderson making it 2-0 10 minutes later. That remained the score 2nd half as the match moved into the final 10 minutes. Hayley Demmon coming off the substitutes bench having been out off competitive action for a spell putting the ball into the back of the net for Acle United to see them pull a goal back. Acle United pushing for an equaliser late in the game got it with a couple of minutes of the 90 left Amber Rowland (pictured) sending the ball home to make it 2-2 and see the points shared.

ERWFL Division One

 4 matches in ERWFL Division One to end 2016 and it’s Offley & Stopsley Ladies who end the year top of the table allow they were pushed all the way at home against Silver End United Ladies in a 7 goal thriller. The visitors scoring twice in the 1st half, Abigail Head and Kayleigh Steed on target with the goals with captain Rebecca Hollocks scoring a 3rd goal for Silver End 15 minutes into the 2nd half. Offley & Stopsley hit back with 4 goals with 4 different goal scorers to win the game 4-3 to take the 3 points. Gemma Coggins, Katerina Hamplova, Giselle Randall and Rianne Townsend-Brown all getting their name down on the score sheet.

   It was raining goals at Kings Head Meadow as Wymondham Town Ladies took on bottom side Hoddesdon Town Ladies. The Norfolk side taking an early lead with Gemma Sanders scoring inside 2 minutes. Amber Cantwell doubling the lead 10 minutes later for Wymondham Town. Sally Hammerton with her 1st goal for the 1st team this season making it 3-0 on 19 minutes. Laura Hammerton netting her 1st goal too for the 1st team this season to make it 4-0 just past the half hour mark the lead was 5-0 at the break with Kayleigh Holloway scoring in the 37th minute. The goals continued to flow for Wymondham Town in the 2nd half Bethany Fretwell finding the back of the net 3 minutes after kick-off. Sanders and Cantwell both scoring their 2nd of the game on 60 and 63 minutes to extend the lead. Sally Hammerton bringing up a double figure score as she completed her hat-trick with 2 goals in 5 minutes in the 75th and 80th minute, 2 more goals added in the final 10 minutes of the match both scored by Laura Nicholls the final score 12-0 the result seeing Wymondham Town climb above Cambridge City Ladies to end 2016 in 2nd spot in the Division One table.

Getting tight at the top of the Division One table with 4th placed Colney Heath Ladies moving level on points with Cambridge City Ladies in 3rd on 24 points with a comfortable home win against Ipswich Wanderers Ladies on Sunday. Christina Freestone and captain Sophie Joseph both scoring in the 1st half to see Colney Heath lead 2-0 at half-time. Came out strongly 2nd half hitting the woodwork before Holly Sheridan put the ball over the goal line to make it 3-0. 20 minutes to play and Lucy Hancock made it 4-0 to Colney Heath, Sheridan with her 2nd of the game seeing Colney Heath win the game 5-0. 3 points now separate the top for in the ERWFL Division One table, although Cambridge City Ladies leading the way for much of the 1st part of the season have 3 to 4 games in hand on all their title rivals.

Plenty of goals elsewhere in ERWFL Division One too another 7 goal thriller at the Gateway Academy with Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies at home taking on Stevenage Ladies Reserves. A brace from Georgia Fraser with Sophie Dowman also on target seeing Little Thurrock Dynamos score 3 goals wasn’t enough to take anything from the game however as Stevenage Ladies Reserves hit back with 4 goals to win the match a goal from Leah Littlechild along with a hat-trick for Daniela Martucci seeing the visitors take all 3 points.

 The points were shared between Hertford Town Ladies and Hutton Ladies on Sunday however it looked unlikely for Hertford Town on home soil as they found themselves trailing 3-0, Laura Allen, Ebony Moore and Hayley Critchell with her 4th goal in 3 matches giving Hutton a good lead. Hertford Town came back into the game however Kerry Oldham with her 1st of the game 10 minutes into the 2nd half scored her 2nd goal of the game 10 minutes later. Carly Snell netting Hertford Town’s 3rd goal to level the scores with 10 minutes left.

FAWPL Plate

Postponed last weekend, there was one quarter final tie outstanding in the FAWPL Plate with Southern Division side, Lewes Ladies travelling to the Stockwood Park Athletics Stadium to play South East Division One side, Luton Town Ladies an away match versus FAWPL Northern Division side Leicester City Women awaiting the winners. Rachel Palmer putting Lewes into the lead scoring from a free-kick on 12 minutes. Chances followed for both sides however the lead was 1-0 to Lewes at half-time.

The visitors doubled the lead early in the 2nd half, 2-0 the advantage going into the last 15 minutes of the match, Lewes introducing fresh legs with a double substitution bringing on both Sian Heather and Rebecca Carter who found the back of the net a couple of minutes later to make the lead 3-0, Carter scoring again minutes later. Kim Stenning also a 2nd half substitute netted the 5th goal for Lewes with Carter completing a 15 minute hat-trick at the end of the match to see Lewes win the game 6-0 to reach the semi-finals scheduled to be played Sunday 5th March. Huddersfield Town Ladies from the FAWPL Northern Division will host Actonians Ladies from South East Division One in the other Plate semi-final.

FAWPL Southern Division

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies end 2016 with an unbeaten league record to sit top of the FAWPL Southern Division with 9 victories plus 1 draw from 10 games. Ended the year at home to Portsmouth FC Ladies, taking control of the match with a strong 1st half performance, Lucia Leon putting Tottenham into the lead, 2 quick fire goals from Kelley Blanchflower followed as she put the ball into the back of the net on the 12th and 15th minute and just 3 minutes later Bianca Baptiste was celebrating with her teammates after making it 4-0. That the lead at half-time Tottenham defended that scoreline 2nd half keeping Portsmouth at bay to win the 3 points and stay 3 points clear at the top of the table.

   A 3-0 win away to C&K Basildon Ladies last Sunday saw Coventry United Ladies move up a place in the FAWPL Southern Division table into 3rd. Were playing C&K Basildon Ladies again this Sunday at their Park Meadow home got off to the perfect start with Alison Hall putting the ball into the back of the net in the 1st minute. Hall made it 2-0 on 10 minutes, Coventry were leading 3-0 just a minute later with Helen Dermody on target with a goal. Ashleigh Neville also scoring late in the 1st half to see Coventry United lead 4-0 at half-time. Hall going onto complete her hat-trick in the 2nd half scoring on 62 minutes. Amber Hughes also getting in on the goal scoring action for Coventry making it 6-0 with 15 minutes left on the clock to see them move above Charlton Athletic Women into 2nd.

Charlton Athletic Women drop 2 places in the FAWPL Southern Division table after they were beaten at home on Sunday taking on the other side still unbeaten in the league, Cardiff City Ladies. The visitors holding the advantage going into the changing rooms at half-time, Chloe Chivers scoring the goal to give Cardiff City the lead. Kerry Bartlett made it 2-0 to Cardiff City early in the 2nd half before Charlton Athletic pulled a goal back with Charley Clifford scoring on 56 minutes to make it 2-1. Chivers scored her 2nd of the match to restore Cardiff City’s 2 goal cushion, Hope Suominen on target for Cardiff City to see them win the game 4-1 to climb a place into 3rd in the table 3 points behind Tottenham with a match in hand the two sides yet to play each other are scheduled to play each other home and away on successive Sunday’s at the end of January and beginning of February next year.

cc-bryan2  Crystal Palace Ladies end what has been a successful 2016 by climbing up to 5th place in the FAWPL Southern Division, having been promoted with an unbeaten record from South east Division One at the end of last season. Were at home on Sunday taking on fellow promoted side Swindon Town Ladies. Top scorer Gemma Bryan (pictured) giving Crystal Palace the lead just after the half hour mark, added a 2nd goal a minute before the end of the 1st half. 2-0 the lead at half-time Crystal Palace held onto the lead 2nd half were awarded a penalty kick late in the match Bryan to take putting the ball past the Swindon keeper to complete her hat-trick and move onto 15 goals for the season. 

A huge 3 points for bottom side Queens Park Rangers Ladies on Sunday as they secured their 1st league win of the season in their last match of 2016. Were away to the side immediately above them in the FAWPL Southern Division table West Ham United Ladies 3 points the gap between the 2 sides going into the game. West Ham United looked to be pulling away from Queens Park Rangers after Dayna Chong had given the home side the lead 36 minutes into the 1st half. Queens Park Rangers coming back into the game with captain Elly Maggs scoring to get them back on level terms 15 minutes into the 2nd half, then with 15 minutes left to play top scorer, Jennifer Critchley fired the ball into the back of the net to score the winning goal Queens Park Rangers taking the 3 points with a much needed 2-1 win to go level with West Ham United Ladies on 5 points with a game in hand.

FAWPL South East Division One

4 matches in FAWPL South East Division One on the last footballing Sunday of 2016 and with league leaders Cambridge United WFC not in action it was a chance for the chasing sides to close the gap at the top. 2nd placed AFC Wimbledon Ladies promoted to the league last season have enjoyed a great 2016 travelled up to Suffolk on Sunday to play Ipswich Town Ladies. The visitors leading the game 2-1 at half-time with Katie Stanley and Hannah Searle scoring the goals with Sophie Welton scoring the goal for Ipswich Town. Laura Curtis extended AFC Wimbledon’s lead early in the 2nd half with Stanley scoring her 2nd of the game in the last 10 minutes to see the visitors leave Suffolk with all 3 points move a point behind the leaders.

Also winning at the weekend were 3rd placed Milton Keynes Dons Ladies who are now 2 points behind Cambridge United WFC at the top were at home at Newport Pagnell Town FC on Sunday playing Stevenage Ladies. The 2 sides contesting a goalless 1st half. Milton Keynes Dons were awarded a penalty in the 2nd half, Heather McDonnell scoring from the spot to give the home side the lead. McDonnell scored again to make it 2-0 and see the 3 points go to Milton Keynes Dons.

 Actonians Ladies reached the semi-finals of the FAWPL Plate last Sunday, celebrating a historic result they also dropped a place in the league table to 5th as Gillingham FC Ladies won big to move above them. It was Gillingham who weren’t in action this Sunday as Actonians made the long trip up to the Suffolk coast to play Lowestoft Town Ladies. Alessandra Barreca scoring a hat-trick for the visitors in a convincing win with captain Sinead Friel also netting a brace and Simone Wan and Katrina Duncan getting a goal a piece in a 7-0 win to see Actonians back up to 4th spot.

The Supporting Women’s Football Blog was at Plantation Park for the final footballing Sunday of 2016 to watch the game between Norwich City Ladies and Enfield Town Ladies. Norwich City having played fewer league games than anyone else in the division were in 10th place with 4 points looking to close the 8 point gap to Enfield Town above them in 9th. It was Enfield who started the brighter of the 2 sides creating opportunities getting the ball out to the wide players, Norwich coming back into the match the 1st half looking to be ending goalless, Kyla Love getting hold of the ball and driving forwards for Norwich down the left side, initially stopped in her tracks by Enfield’s Sheryce Slater, didn’t give up regaining possession got in behind entering the box and sending her shot over the keeper into the back of the net to give Norwich a 1st half lead.

  Enfield came out strong at the start of the 2nd half had Norwich penned in their own half Anna Loftus getting onto a ball through the middle playing it early 25 yards out to send the ball up and over the keeper to make it 1-1. On 62 minutes Enfield took the lead captain, Nuala McKevitt heading the ball home from a corner kick. Both sides went on to strike the woodwork twice with Norwich pressing late on for an equalising goal Chelsea Garrett (pictured) was played in on the right heading towards the box squeezed her shot past the on rushing keeper the ball running on to kiss the far post and roll over the line to make it 2-2 in the 90th minute and see the points shared. Essex Women’s Premier Division

 Postponements hit the Essex Women’s Premier Division heavily at the weekend with 3 of the 4 scheduled matches being called off. That left the one game with 4th placed Eastern Avenue at home playing Alresford Colne Rangers in 10th place. A goal each for Hannah Warner and Mollie Rose saw Eastern Avenue win the game 2-0 the 3 points taking them above Runwell Sports Ladies into 3rd spot in the league table.

Essex Women’s Division One

All 4 off the scheduled league games in Essex Women’s Division One were played at the weekend with table toppers, Corringham Cosmos away to 3rd placed Harlow Town Ladies Reserves. A 3-1 win for Corringham seeing them move 3 points clear of title rivals Frontiers Ladies who weren’t in action at the weekend.

 It was 4th versus 5th in the Division One table as Hatfield Peveral Ladies travelled to Collier Row Athletic both sides new to the league this season enjoying a good start, the match saw 6 goals scored with the points ending up being shared in a 3-3 draw. Donna Fletcher, Cara Wilshire and Christa Osman with the goals for Hatfield Peveral Ladies.

A big win at home for FC Clacton Ladies in 6th place in the Division One table on Sunday taking on bottom side Waltham Forest Ladies. The final score 14-0 to see the 3 points won for the 5th time this season.

Another huge win in the final game to bring you in Essex Women’s Division One, not the scoreline so much as the 3 points, Benfleet Villa Ladies getting 3 on the board having lost the previous 3 won after their opponents withdrew from the league early on. Benfleet Villa were away on Sunday playing Wickford Town Ladies Reserves winning the game 3-0 to get off 0 points and close the gap on Wickford Town in 8th to 3 points.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

Two matches in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday and with leaders Cambridge United WFC Reserves seeing their match postponed it was an opportunity for 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies to move back level on points with them at the top of the table. new-griffinHowever they got off to the worst possible start away to newly promoted Park Ladies conceding a goal inside the opening 2 minutes, Amy Newell putting Park Ladies into the lead. Newmarket came back into it midway through the 1st half, Abbi Griffin (pictured) scoring 2 goals inside a minute to see the visiting side lead 2-1. Siobhan White making it 3-1 to Newmarket on the half hour mark. Leading 3-1 at the break Park reduced the deficit in the 66th minute, Newell with her 2nd goal of the game. Cindy Ponder scored for Newmarket with 10 minutes left on the clock, Lauren Deller adding a 5th goal 5 minutes from time to see Newmarket to a 5-2 victory and move level on points with the leaders. All this away from home as Newmarket Town Ladies have yet to play a league match at home this season.

 In the other match in the Premiership on Sunday, 4th placed St Ives Town Ladies were on home turf taking on Netherton United Ladies in 7th place going into the game. The 2 sides contesting a goalless 1st half Netherton United went on to open the scoring in the 2nd half, Megan Strickland netting the goal in the 60th minute. Sian Gamble doubling Netherton United’s league in the 77th minute the visitors going on to win the 3 points and move above ICA Sports Ladies in the Premiership table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North on Sunday and a significant result for Wisbech St Marys Ladies, 3rd in the table going into the match 3 points behind leaders March Town United Ladies, move to the top of the table on goal difference with an away win against Hungate Rovers Ladies. Catherine Ray giving Wisbech St Mary a lead in the 1st half, Lauren Laws adding a 2nd goal in the 2nd half to see the visitors take all 3 points.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South 

 Also the one game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South on Sunday with Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves travelling to play bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies knowing a win would put them back up into 3rd place in the league a point behind 2nd placed Milton Ladies. Got off to a poor start Orton Rangers taking an early lead went on to miss a penalty before Newmarket Town got themselves level going on to lead 3-1 at half-time. 5 more goals followed 2nd half Newmarket Town going on to win 8-1 with Jordanne Sillitoe getting 5 goals to her name and Dominika Szary netting a hat-trick.

Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup

The Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup has reached the quarter finals stage the last 8 vying for a place in the semi-finals, 3 of the 4 places decided this weekend, whilst holders Watford Ladies Development U19s will play Stevenage Ladies Reserves this coming Sunday after their match was postponed.

  Stevenage Ladies 1st team are through to the semi-finals of the County Cup as they won away to Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three side, Evergreen Eagles. 6 leagues between the sides a tough test for Evergreen Eagles taking on FAWPL South East Division One opposition. 2 goals for Stevenage captain, Donna McGuigan with a goal a piece for Kristina O’Connell, Rosy Woodhams, Daniela Martucci and Bolu Fisher seeing Stevenage win the game 6-0 to make it into the last 4.

Watford Ladies have a side already through to the semi-finals of the County Cup after their U17s Hornets side beat Beds & Herts Women’s Division One side, Bishops Stortford Ladies 6-1 at home to reach the last 4 of the competition on Sunday.

It was the biggest win in the clubs history as Royston Town Ladies 1st team booked their place in the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup semi-finals. The ERWFL Premier Division side were at home playing Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two side Watton Ladies. 4 league between the sides, Royston Town proved too strong an opponent on the day. Samantha Tinsley moving onto 24 goals from 12 appearances netting 5 goals in the match. Both Rebekah Fisk and Paige Rolfe scored a brace each their 1st goals of the season. Amie Jones, Hayley Graham and Annie Chambers all scored their 1st goals of the season too with Gemma Croucher and Stephanie Hicks also on target with a goal each in a 14-0 win.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

 One more place in the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup quarter finals to be decided as Sherrardswood Ladies from Beds & Herts Women’s Division One took on Division Two side Royston Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday in the 2nd Round. Beaten on penalties in last years final (sorry to mention that) Sherrardswood made it into the quarter finals with a 4-0 win Katy Jones opening the scoring on 28 minutes, Laura Cousins made it 2-0 before half-time netting a 2nd goal early in the 2nd half, Melissa Wright scoring the 4th goal 5 minutes from time.

A handful of league games this Sunday, in the end just the one in each division being played. A big win away from home for Hitchin Town Ladies as they open up a 6 point gap to bottom side Letchworth Garden City Eagles whom they met on Sunday to pick up their 2nd league win of the season. Getting the 3 points courtesy of a 3-2 win with Rachael Lewis, Jodie Nicholson and Natalie Thompson scoring the goals.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A top of the table clash in Beds & Herts Division Two with 3rd placed Panshanger Ladies at home looking to end a run of 2 successive home defeats against the league leaders, Flitwick Ladies. It was Flitwick who took the lead in the match against the run of play, Taylor Adams putting them ahead. Panshanger were soon back on level terms Ellie Burke making it 1-1 on 35 minutes. Panshanger went to to take the lead Chemise Huitson with her 15th goal of the season making it 2-1 with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. A lead Panshanger held onto throughout the 2nd half to win the 3 points to climb back into 2nd spot go a point behind Flitwick at the top.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three 3rd placed Crawley Green Ladies were away from home on Sunday playing 4th placed Potters Bar United Ladies, the 2 sides switching places as Potters Bar United ran out 4-1 winners to win for the 3rd time this season. Nina Service scoring late in the 1st half for Crawley Green.

Norfolk – Sunday 11th December

Norfolk Women’s Division One

 A handful of games across the 3 divisions in Norfolk at the weekend. In Norfolk Women’s Division One there was a big game at the top of the table with 3rd placed Kings Lynn Town Ladies on a good run of form winning 5 in a row since suffering a heavy opening day defeat hosting 2nd placed North Walsham Angels Ladies enjoying a fantastic season since winning promotion last season. A 3 point gap between the sides, Kings Lynn started the brighter the ball moving quickly from one end of the pitch to the other, took the lead in the 12th minute when captain Shelley Woods was given the ball wide on the left 30 yards out shot for goal, goalkeeper Cyan Fulbrook getting a touch on the ball couldn’t keep it from dropping behind her into the back of the net.  Kings Lynn continued to pressure the North Walsham defence extending the lead on 20 minutes Taylor Sarchet receiving the ball in the box laying it back to Becky Russell (pictured) outside the box her shot racing inside the post to make it 2-0.

 kl-russell  North Walsham pulled a goal back quickly, Alicia Lacey sending the ball forwards a deflection favouring striker Luci Middleton who picked up the ball inside the box and sent it home to make it 2-1. Right on the stroke of half-time Kings Lynn restored their 2 goal cushion Russell capitalising on a defensive mix up to put the ball into an empty net. A lot of tension between the 2 sides that may have been stopped with early intervention from the referee. Things calmed down a little 2nd half as North Walsham looked to find away back into the match pulled it back to 3-2 10 minutes into the 2nd half Alicia Lacey throwing herself at the ball sent up into the box to turn it past the keeper and over the goal-line. Kings Lynn dealt with the pressure their opponents applied 2nd half and creating chances themselves up the other end got a 4th goal to make the result save late in the match, Josie Turner scoring to see them go level on 18 points with North Walsham beating them 4-2 for the 2nd time this season. Kings Lynn Town Ladies 4-2 North Walsham Angels Ladies

In the other match in Norfolk Women’s Division One, Aylsham FC Ladies ended a run of 3 straight defeats in the league with a big away win on Sunday against Fakenham Town Ladies, winning the game 7-1 to climb up the table into 4th place from 6th.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

Gorleston FC Ladies are looking ever more an unstoppable force in Norfolk Women’s Division Two as they won there 9th consecutive league match on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the table to 15 points with a 2-0 home win against Briston Wanderers Ladies. A goal in each have scored by Kayleigh Byrne and Hayley Muir seeing them take the 3 points with a 2-0 victory.

Norfolk Women’s Division Three

Two matches in Norfolk Women’s Division Three on Sunday and the lead at the top switches yet again as East Coast Ladies win away from home to move above Tavern Ladies on goal difference. Were playing Freethorpe Ladies who were buoyant after a 4-0 win against Cromer Town Ladies last weekend. However they found themselves on the back foot early on in the game with East Coast scoring 2 quick goals at the start of the game Jordan Duke and Emily Coe putting the ball into the back of the net. Duke going on to score a 2nd goal to put East Coast 3-0, Freethorpe in danger of suffering a heavy defeat reorganised and kept the ball from going in. 2nd half was a much more even affair both sides creating chances and by all accounts a great advert for the game no more goals scored East Coast winning 3-0.

 Go top as Tavern Ladies were held to a draw at home against Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves who held a 1-0 lead going into the changing rooms at half-time, Tavern coming back to score in the 2nd half see the points shared in a 1-1 draw.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 11th December

Two matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division with a big match at the top of the table with 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies hosting Walsham Le Willows Ladies in 2nd spot both on 12 points from 5 matches played looking to win and close the 6 point gap Ipswich Town Ladies Development have opened up at the top of the table. In the end it was a big win for Walsham Le Willows inflicting a heavy defeat on Brantham Athletic winning the game 7-0 to take all 3 points.

 That result coupled with a home win on Sunday for East Bergholt United Ladies sees the 4th placed side move level on 12 points with Brantham Athletic in 3rd both having played 6 matches. Were playing Copleston Ladies who got their 1st 3 points on the board last time out. East Bergholt United winning the game 4-1 with goals from, Amber Brogan, Emily Lambert, Jessica Quinsee and Jodie Sharp. Jemma Wessels with the goal for Copleston.
