Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 23rd October

Two games in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday the 1st a clash between the top 2 both with a 100% winning start to the season so far with leaders Walsham Le Willows Ladies hosting Ipswich Town Ladies new Development side. Walsham Le Willows have scored 22 goals without reply in their opening 3 league games, were to concede for the 1st time this season and with it suffer their 1st defeat of the season, Ipswich Town Ladies making it 3 wins from 3 to move level on points with Walsham Le Willows at the top, Elin Davies with the winning goal.

In the other match in the Suffolk Women’s Division, Bacton United Ladies at home got their 1st 3 point haul on the board as they played bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies without a point yet this season themselves. Two goals each for Lois Balfour and Maria Walker seeing Bacton United win the match 4-0.

ERWFL Premier Division

With the leaders of the ERWFL Premier Division seeing their match at home to Great Wakering Rovers Ladies postponed that gave an opportunity for 2nd placed Haringey Borough Women to close the 7 point gap at the top. Were away from home a tough trip to Suffolk to play AFC Sudbury Ladies. In a close contest it was the visitors who came away with the 3 points a single goal enough to win the match scored by Haringey’s, Julia Carruthers.

AFC Dunstable Ladies in 4th place in the ERWFL Premier Division table closed the gap to a point on 3rd place Acle United Ladies who to saw their home game postponed at the weekend winning their 4th game of the season at home at Creasey Park hosting Histon Ladies. A close match Histon scoring through Jordanne Sillitoe, Dunstable scoring twice to win the match 2-1 with goals from Stephanie Fisher and Paige Kavanagh.

Writtle Ladies won on Sunday, and with AFC Sudbury’s loss climb up a place to 5th the the ERWFL Premier Division table. Were at home playing fellow Essex side, Brentwood Town Ladies. Leading 2-0 at half-time went on to win the game 3-1. Ashley Debnam with the goal for Brentwood. Kayleigh Franklin, Amy Simmons and Sophie Vale all on target for Writtle Ladies. 

 Colchester Town Ladies have slipped down the ERWFL Premier Division table in recent weeks as the results had gone against them. Were away to Billericay Town Ladies at the weekend, the scores level at half-time, Georgia Box scoring for Colchester on 10 minutes, captain Lindsey Morgan levelling things up for Billericay. In the 2nd half Colchester went on to score what would prove to be the winning goal, Tiffany Reeves putting the ball into the back of the net to see Colchester climb up 2 places to 9th in the table on 7 points level with Billericay and Brentwood.

ERWFL Division One

nc2  Cambridge City Ladies weren’t in league action last Sunday saw 2nd place Wymondham Town Ladies move a pint above them winning to lead the table. This weekend it was Wymondham Town who were to see their match postponed as Cambridge City looked to maintain their 100% winning start to the season. Made it 6 wins from 6 at home against Stevenage Ladies Reserves. A narrow advantage at half-time leading 1-0, 5 more goals were scored 2nd half Leah Littlechild and Sarah Payne netting for Stevenage Ladies Reserves, Cambridge hit back with 3 more goals to win the game 4-2, Rachel Pearce, Bella Simmons and Lauren Tomlinson (pictured) with the goals.

Wymondham Town were due to play Hutton Ladies who were in 3rd place going into the weekend, unable to field a team that gave Offley & Stopsley Ladies a chance to climb back above them into 3rd themselves were away playing 2nd bottom side Hertford Town Ladies. Won the 3 points comfortably. Shanice Sutton scoring a hat-trick for Offley & Stopsley. Giselle Randall with a brace plus a goal each for Katerina Hamplova and Charlene Moreton in a 7-0 win.

Colney Heath Ladies and Silver End United Ladies in 5th and 6th place in ERWFL Division One met at Colney Heath FC at the weekend. Kayleigh Steed scoring to give the visitors the lead, Holly Sheridan equalised for Colney Heath both sides with chances to win all 3 points during the game both had to settle for a point.

 Been a tough season for bottom side Hoddesdon Town Ladies so far without a point on the board suffered a heavy home defeat in midweek against Stevenage Ladies Reserves were hosting Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies who were looking for their 1st win in the league since mid September. Had a fantastic 1st half the visitors putting the ball into the back of the net 4 times. Taylor Adcock, Sophie Dowman, Katy Judd and Kerri Thomas giving them a 4-0 lead at half-time. No more goals were scored 2nd half Hoddesdon Town battling to prevent further damage to their goal.

FAWPL – Sunday 23rd October

This weekend in the FAWPL their was just the one league game with the focus on the 2nd Round of the Cup and Plate comprtitions, 9 ties across both featuring sides from the Southern and South East Division One.

FAWPL Southern Division

In the FAWPL Southern Division C&K Basildon Ladies were at home hosting Swindon Town Ladies and Canvey Island FC. The visitors coming into the game off the back of a confidence boosting 7-0 win away to Queens Park Rangers Ladies last Sunday. Battled hard 1st half despite C&K Basildon creating plenty of chances the score remained goalless at the break. That changed 4 minutes into the 2nd half C&K Basildon getting the lead a goal from Sara Sinclair. The home side continued to press for a 2nd goal, Swindon resiliant keeping them at bay until deep into injury time, Lily Mellors putting the result beyond doubt in the 93rd minute to see the game won 2-0.

FAWPL Cup 2nd Round

martin Tottenham Hotspur Ladies the FAWPL Cup holders continued their defence of the trophy at home taking on last seasons beaten FAWPL Plate finalists, Enfield Town Ladies. Had the majority of the play in the 1st half, the South East Division One side hard to break down Tottenham got into the lead 6 minutes before half-time Wendy Martin (pictured) with the goal. Martin went on to score 2 goals in 2 minutes 15 minutes into the 2nd half to complete her hat-trick. Lucia Leon adding another goal to make it 4-0 with 15 minutes left. Manager Karen Hills brought Martin off with 5 minutes left replacing her with goalkeeper Toni-Anne Wayne playing outfield up front almost scored straight away. Enfield pulled a goal back late on with two minutes of normal time left, Ellie Taladiana with the goal. Injury time and Wayne is played through in behind the Enfield defence racing into the box puts her shot past the keeper into the back of the net to score! Tottenham winning 5-1 to advance into the last 16.

  Was an all FAWPL South East Division One clash at Corinthians FC, the new home for Gillingham FC Ladies this season unbeaten in all competitions so far this season were taking on Milton Keynes Dons Ladies. Despite having the majority of the ball 1st half found it hard to break down a well drilled Milton Keynes Dons defence. The visitors creating the best chance young goalkeeper Katie Startup saving well from a powerful header driven in near post the follow up headed onto the crossbar. A change of formation and the introduction of striker Kallie Balfour did the trick 2nd half for Gillingham, Balfour breaking down the left driving the ball in across thre keeper near post. Balfour adding a 2nd her shot from inside the box going through the keeper to make it 2-0 see Gillingham into the last 16 where they will be away to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies. Gillingham FC Ladies 2-0 Milton Keynes Dons Ladies 23/10/16 

Postponed last weekend after heavy rain on the South coast, FAWPL South East Division One side, Cambridge United WFC in fine form at the start of the season made long trip down to Gosport borough FC to play FAWPL Southern Division side Portsmouth FC Ladies. Cambridge have been building a strong squad to mount a promotion challenge added 2 more signing earlier in the week, Danielle Puddefoot coming in after a prolific season in front of goal for Queens Park Rangers Ladies last season, also joining is Mollie Kmita who joins her sister Rosie in signing for Cambridge.

Both Kmita sisters started the match and it was Rosie who gave the visitors an early lead in the match had a few more chances to extend Cambridge’s lead 1st half however Portsmouth kept the scoreline down to a single goal chances up the other end equalised late captain Gemma Hillier making it 1-1 in 1st half injury time. Portmouth went on to take the lead 2nd half Sarah Kempson scoring in 61 minutes. Their lead didn’t last long Cambridgegetting it back to 2-2 within 3 minutes Nicole Perschky on target. Portsmouth were to go on and score again Kempson with her 2nd goal 6 minutes from time enough to see them edge the result 3-2 to advance into the last 16.

 Another side riding high in FAWPL South East Division One are AFC Wimbledon Ladies, they were at home in the 2nd Round of the FAWPL Cup taking on Southern Division opposition in Crystal Palace Ladies. The sides battled out  a goalless 1st half, Crystal Palace took the lead over their lower division opponents 12 minutes into the 2nd half, Gemma Bryan putting them ahead. The lead was doubled in the last 10 minutes, Rochelle Shakes making it 2-0 for Crystal Palace to see them through to the last 16 of the FAWPL Cup.

It was also an FAWPL Southern Division side taking on South East Division One opponents in the last game to bring you from the FAWPL Cup 2nd Round with Coventry United Ladies the current FAWPL Plate holders taking on Denham United Ladies. Once again it was goalless at the break their lower league opponents had to break down. The deadlock was broken midway through the 2nd half, Ashleigh Neville getting the goal to give Coventry the lead made sure of the result in the last 10 minutes of the match, Jade Brook and Helen Dermody both netting a goal to see Coventry into the last 16 with a 3-0 win.

FAWPL Plate 2nd Round

Queens Park Rangers Ladies were without a single league point this season in the Southern Division as they made the long journey to the Suffolk coast to play South East Division One side Lowestoft Town Ladies in the FAWPL Plate 2nd Round. An good contest 1st half Lowestoft doing well against their higher league opponents conceded late in the 1st half Juliette Denny scoring for Queens Park Rangers in the 4th minute of 1st half injury time to give the Southern Division side a narrow lead going into the dressing room at half-time at Crown Meadow. 

Queens Park Rangers started the 2nd half strongly, extending their lead on 54 minutes Jessica Treharne with the goal. Looked to be safely through to the last 16 of the Plate competition when Sara Ezzahiri scored to put them 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go. Late drama in the match however Lowestoft winning a penalty 2 with 2 minutes of normal play left, Gemma Moore scoring from the spot. Millie Cursons putting the ball in the back of the net on 90+1 to make it 3-2. Denny having scored in injury time 1st half repeated the feat 2nd half scoring her 2nd in the 93rd minute to see Queens Park Rangers win their 1st game of the season taking them through to the next round.

A long journey west for West Ham United Ladies in the FAWPL Plate 2nd Round taking on South West Division One side, Cheltenham Town Ladies. The 1st game of a new era for West Ham United Ladies under new management having been brought under the umbrella of the men’s club were introduced at half-time to the West Ham United fans at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday. On the pitch against Cheltenham got off to a great start Katie Bottom putting them ahead on 15 minutes from the spot after she was brought down in the area. Cheltenham battled hard, putting alot of effort in to keeping the lead down to a single goal at half-time. Started the 2nd half better gaining momentum, Louise Fensome pulling the scores level at 1-1 the game looked to be heading into extra-time, Chloe Burr getting on the ball driving forwards and rifling home a shot in injury time to see West Ham United win 2-1 to progress the last 16.

 An all South East Division One clash in the 2nd Round of the FAWPL Plate saw Ipswich Town Ladies travel down to play Actonians Ladies. The home side knocking their Suffolk opponents out of the Plate with an emphatic win. Alessandra Barreca scoring a hat-trick for Actonians, with goals too for Emma Mulhern, Carla Williams and Sinthujah Sooriyakumar seeing them advance in the competition with a 6-0 victory.

South East Division One side Stevenage Ladies still looking for their 1st league win of the season made the long trip down to the South West to play fellow Division one side Exeter City Ladies. Had won big in the FA Women’s Cup 2 weekends ago giving the squad some confidence. That confidence was extended with another cup win as they returned home with a place in the last 16 of the FAWPL Plate secured following a 4-0 win.

Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire – Sunday 16th October

Across the two counties it was the 1st Round of their County Cup competitions this Sunday with just the one league match taking place.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

That game was in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with Sharnbrook WFC hosting Hitchin Town Ladies. In 2nd going into the match Sharnbrook returned to the top of the table with a 3-1 victory Gemma Franklin scoring in the 1st half on 28 minutes. Rachel Jones getting Hitchin Town Ladies goals. Charlotte Mullins netted for Sharnbrook 8 minutes into the 2nd half to see them lead 2-1, Claire Smith adding the 3rd goal 6 minutes later to secure the 3 points.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup 1st Round

 Their were 3 ties scheduled for the 1st Round of the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup the rest receiving a bye into the 2nd Round. Woburn & Wavendon Lioness Blues were awarded the away win against Kempston Rovers Ladies to advance in the competition. The senior Woburn & Wavendon Lioness side, the Clarets are also into the 2nd Round following a 2-1 win at home to fellow Beds & Herts Division Two side Flitwick Ladies. Charlotte Demmon and Lara Billington with their goals in the 1st half on 23 and 28 minutes. Jess Coverdale on target for Flitwick.

In the other tie in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup it was an all Division Three clash between Shefford Town & Campton Ladies and Crawley Green Ladies this one going straight to penalties after the scores were level at 2-2 after 90 minutes. Jessica McNamara netting both goals for Crawley Green on he 10th and 44th minute. Lead 2-1 at half-time before Shefford Town came back to equalise in the 2nd half, Louise Grocott and Gemma Smith with their goals. Crawley Green Ladies went on to win the shoot-out 3-2 to reach the 2nd Round.

4 ties to be played in the 2nd Round of the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup with holders Luton Town Ladies, AFC Dunstable Ladies, Bedford Ladies and Offley and Stopsley Ladies are receiving a bye to the quarter-finals the ties for the 2nd Round listed below to be played Sunday 20th November.

Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup 1st Round

A few ties in the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup weren’t played with sides advancing to the 2nd Round without kicking a ball due to sides withdrawing from the competition. Of the games that were played their were plenty of goals scored.

  Both Sophie Joseph and Holly Sheridan scored a hat-trick each for Colney Heath Ladies away from home on Sunday the ERWFL Division One side taking on Bedwell Rangers from Beds & Herts Division Three. There were braces too for 3 players with Molly Slade, Kelly Gunn Adrienne Milton all on target for Colney Heath in a 12-1 win.

  A similar story for Royston Town Ladies, the ERWFL Premier Division side at home on Sunday in the 1st Round of the County Cup playing Beds & Herts Division Two side Panshanger Ladies. Samantha Tinsley scoring a double hat-trick as Royston Town plundered 12 goals. Daniella Lewis also netted a hat-trick with Amy Cooper, Georgia Gannaway and Andrea Wright also putting the ball into the back of the net in a 12-1 win.

Beds & Herts Division One side Letchworth Garden City Ladies were hosting ERWFL Division One side, Stevenage Ladies Reserves on Sunday in the 1st Round. The visitors progressing to the 2nd Round with a comfortable 9-0 win. Katherine Calvert and Leah Littlechild both scoring a brace. Rebecca Day, Sherrie Evans, Jenny Hepton, Hannah Marshall and Rebecca Brooker also scoring.

Bishops Stortford Ladies of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One reach the 2nd Round of the County Cup beating Hitchin Belles of Division Two comfortably 8-0 at home. Brogan McHale with a hat-trick in the match, Lauren Maynard put the ball into the back of the net twice with Samantha Tant, Hannah Mead Mead and Kathryn Stanley all getting a goal.

Another Beds & Herts Division One side safely through to the 2nd Round of the County Cup are St Albans Ladies away on Sunday playing Division Two side Garston Ladies FC  96 both Suzanne Read and Ellie Lovelock scored a brace with Kayla Johnson and Sophie Lawrence scoring a goal apiece to win the tie 6-1. Jade Roberts with the goal for Garston 96.

Garston Ladies 1st team playing in Beds & Herts Division One are also through narrowly beating Hertford Town Ladies new Reserve side away from home, Kelly Kirwan and Bobbi Rhodes on target after they had Samantha Roads sent off. Emily Hook scoring Hertford Town Ladies Reserves goal.

Watford Ladies Youth have entered a number of their sides into this season’s Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup and one of these, Watford Youth U17s Hornets caused a cup upset knocking ERWFL Division One side Hoddesdon Town Ladies out of the competition winning the game away from home 6-2.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

In Cambridgeshire the focus was on the league this weekend everyone finally getting started in the Women’s Premiership in what has been a slow start to the season with just a handful of matches played. Both Cambridge United WFC Reserves and Netherton United Ladies had recovered from an opening day defeat to win next time out, both on 3 points Cambridge were top on goal difference as they travelled to Peterborough to play Netherton on Sunday. 3 successive home wins in league and cup Netherton were in form going into the game however they were out of sorts on Sunday as Cambridge got on top to dominate the game 1st half, Laura Baker returning from injury opening the scoring on 11 minutes. Gabrielle Whitehurst (pictured on the ball below) doubled the lead scoring from a free-kick put into the box to see the visitors lead 2-0 at half-time.

An early goal 2nd half scored by Mel Findlater her 1st for the club saw Cambridge extend their lead to 3-0, Netherton never really getting back into the match. Netherton United Ladies v Cambridge United WFC Reserves

Joining Cambridge United WFC Reserves on 6 points at the top of the table are Newmarket Town Ladies playing just their 2nd league match of the season. Maintain a 100% start to the season after a trip to newly promoted St Ives Town Ladies. A brace from Abbi Griffin seeing the 3 points secured with a 2-0 win for Newmarket.

With their players returning to their studies Cambridge University Women were getting their league campaign started this Sunday with an away trip to another of the promoted sides, Bourne Ladies. The home side getting themselves 2-0 in front, Claire Lawrenson scoring the goals on the 10th and 25th minutes. Cambridge University came back to level it at 2-2 before half-time Amanda Wainwright with their 1st goal. Had 2 debutants in their side, one of those scoring 1st half too with another added 2nd half. their other debutant also getting a goal to see the visitors win the game 4-2.

  Another side to finally get a league game under their belts were ICA Sports Ladies, the Peterborough based club had been short on numbers earlier in the season. Now playing at last started with a home win as they took on Park Ladies at the South Bretton Playing Fields. Rhian Leonard with the only goal of the game seeing ICA Sports Ladies win the 3 points.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

 In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North, Wisbech St Mary Ladies strong start to the season continued as they made it 4 wins out of 4 at the start of the season. Were on home turf taking on new side Spalding United Ladies on Sunday. Was all square at the break the sides level at 2-2. Ellie Nobbs and Sian Peeling scoring the goals midway through the 1st half for Wisbech St Mary. Sasha How and Jordan Wheeler on target for Spalding United. Different story 2nd half with Wisbech St Mary coming out the stronger Annalise Scales scoring a hat-trick with Abi Roach-Smith also getting a goal the final score 6-2.

  March Town United Ladies join 2nd placed Ketton Ladies on 9 points as they match their record of 3 wins from 3 league matches at the start of the season were away to Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday. Both Louise Barbour and Emma Frost were both on fire scoring a hat-trick to win the game 6-0 and come home with the 3 points.

  Another side climbing up the Championship North table are Swineshead Institute Ladies undefeated at the start of the season, on 7 points now with 2 wins and a draw the win on Sunday away to Thurlby Tigers. The goals scored tally vastly improved too. Kirsty Hewitt grabbing herself 5 goals for the visitors. Swineshead racked up a double figure scoreline with Ellie Spendlow netting a hat-trick, a brace for both, Chloe Steward and Gabrielle Smith. Rebecca Taylor also scoring a goal in a 13-0 victory.

Wisbech Town Ladies having suffered 2 defeats in their opening 2 league games got a point on the board at the weekend as they drew with new side P&L Motors Diamonds at home. Sophie Gutteridge scoring both if their goals as the sides drew 2-2.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

 A couple of postponements in the Cambridgeshire Championship South that allowed leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development to extend their lead at the top of the table as they maintained their 100% start to the season. At home playing Isleham United Ladies. Bella Simmons scoring 4 goals with Charlotte Gillies grabbing a hat-trick. Goals too for Emma and Rachel Littlewood aswell as Bronte Rapley as they made it 4 wins out of 4 with a 10-0 scoreline.

  Elsewhere Fulbourn Bluebirds were away from home playing St Ives Rangers Ladies. The visitors winning for the 2nd time this season to move into 3rd place in the table. Goals from Sarah Bodger, Katie Luddy and Krissie Taylor seeing them to a 3-1 win. Jasmine Hope scoring the goal for St Ives Rangers.

Essex – Sunday 16th October

In Essex as in Suffolk all the weekends matches were from the Women’s County Cup and Trophy competitions the 1st Round in both.

Essex Women’s County Cup 1st Round

 5 ties in the 1st Round of the Women’s County Cup in Essex with the winners knowing who they will face in the 2nd Round of the competition with the draw having already been made. 

   ERWFL Premier Division side, Billericay Town Ladies were away on Sunday in the 1st Round taking in Essex Women’s Premier Division side, Eastern Avenue. 2 leagues between the side, Billericay won the game 5-0 to progress to the 2nd Round, Rosi Webb scoring a brace with a goal apiece for Vicky Kinsman, Paris smith and captain Lindsey Morgan.

 Elsewhere it was ERWFL Division One home against Essex Premier Division a league a part. Hutton Ladies hosted Alresford Colne Rangers on Sunday in the County Cup. Goals from Hayley Critchell, Kate Lowen, Rianne Dimmock & Amy Crumpler saw Hutton reach the 2nd Round.

Was a 4-0 home win too for ERWFL Division One side Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies were hosting Runwell Sports Ladies. Leading 1-0 at half-time went on to score 3 more in the 2nd half with Taylor Adcock, Katy Judd, Abbie Simmonds and Sophie Dowman all on target.

  Was an ERWFL Division One casualty in the 1st Round as Silver End United Ladies were knocked out of the County Cup by Essex Premier Division side, Harlow Town Ladies winning the game in extra-time after it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, Paula Drane getting the goal for Silver End United after Rebecca Pope had put Harlow Town Ladies into the lead. The away side going on to score twice in extra-time Tayla Handscomb and Davina Smith with the goals to see Harlow Town Ladies into the 2nd Round.

In the final game in the 1st Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup it was an all Essex Premier Division tie with Wickford Town Ladies hosting Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Autumn Ranger scored for Wickford Town however it wasn’t enough as Beacon Hill Rovers scored 3 goals to progress to the 2nd Round the draw listed below ties to be played Sunday 20th November.

Essex Women’s Trophy 1st Round

Only 2 of the 5 ties originally listed in the Essex Women’s Trophy match was played in the end and 1 of those didn’t get finished due to a serious injury. The game between Chigwell Ladies and Harlow Town Ladies U18s abandoned due to a head injury to one of the Harlow players. Chigwell were winning 3-0 at the time. Wishing the Harlow Town Ladies U18 player a full and speedy recovery.

Suffolk Women’s County Cup 2nd Round

A place in the quarter finals of this season’s Suffolk Women’s County Cup was up for grabs at the weekend with 7 ties scheduled to take place, Ipswich Wanderers Ladies having a bye into the next round. Newmarket Town Ladies 1st team also reached the quarter finals without kicking a ball awarded a home win against Witnesham Wasps Ladies. That left 6 ties to be contested in the 2nd Round.

Holders Ipswich Town Ladies were at home playing AFC Sudbury Ladies whom they had beaten in the final 2 seasons previously. The FAWPL South East Division One side too strong for their lower league opponents on the day beating the ERWFL Premier Division side 5-0. Sophie Welton scoring a brace. Jacqueline Ball, Jade Henry and Natasha Thomas were the other goalscorers from Ipswich Town.

 Lowestoft Town Ladies also competing in FAWPL South East Division One were away to Brandon Town Ladies in the 2nd Round of the Suffolk Women’s County Cup a 3 league difference between the side Lowestoft have found some form of late and it showed as they won the match 4-0 to reach the quarter-finals having been knocked out early on last season having been drawn against Ipswich Town. 4 different goal scorers for Lowestoft Millie Davies, Amy Durrant, Broghan Scully and captain Hannah Waters.

 Was a fiery game between Walsham Le Willows Ladies and fellow Suffolk Women’s Division side Brantham Athletic Ladies. 2 red cards issued in the match it was to all the way to extra-time 1-1 after 90 minutes, Walsham Le Willows winning it 2-1 in the extra period to reach the quarter finals. 

It was a big win for East Bergholt United Ladies in another all Suffolk Women’s Division clash in the 2nd Round. Were playing away against Copleston Ladies. An 8-0 win seeing them into the quarter finals of the competition.

  Also racking up the goals on Sunday were Bungay Town Ladies at home taking on Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Nicola Hazell getting her name on the scoresheet for 4 goals, close behind was captain, Kelly Collins with a hat-trick. Michelle Stanborough, Hannah Jones and Lois Nethersell-Webb all scoring too in a 10-1 win to reach the quarter finals.

  Bacton United Ladies were away in the 2nd Round of the Suffolk Women’s County Cup playing Newmarket Town Ladies new Reserves side. Bacton took an early lead before Dominika Szary pulled it back to 1-1. Bacton going on to score 2 more 1st half goals to lead 3-1 at the break. Held onto that lead in the 2nd half to reach the quarter finals.

  The draw for the quarter finals of the Suffolk Women’s County Cup was made earlier today and it sees the 2 FAWPL South East Division One sides kept apart. The ties a scheduled to be played Sunday 20th November.

Norfolk Women’s County Cup 1st Round

This Sunday saw the start of this season’s County Cup competition in Norfolk with 3 ties drawn out of the hat for the 1st Round the rest of the field receiving a bye to the 2nd Round. As it was just one of the 3 took place with Acle United Ladies and Stalham Town Ladies progressing without kicking a ball with their opponents withdrawing.

That left an all Division Three clash between Cromer Town Ladies and Freethorpe Ladies with the latter making history as Freethorpe won their 1st ever County Cup match. Won the game away from home 2-1 to reach the 2nd Round. Sarah Earl with Freethorpe’s 1st goal then Megan Wilson scored the winner on her debut.

The draw was made for the 2nd Round of the Norfolk Women’s County Cup on Monday 16 sides to contest 8 ties on Sunday 20th November with a scheduled 1:30pm kick-off

Norfolk Women’s Division One

There was a top 2 clash in Norfolk Women’s Division One on Sunday with newly promoted North Walsham Angels Ladies having started the season very well topping the table travelling to play Thorpe United Ladies who themselves have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season winning all 3 of their league games to date. It was the home side who started better getting themselves into a 3-0 lead in the 1st half, North Walsham reducing the deficit to 3-1 at half-time. The visitors showed character 2nd half as they scored twice more getting 3 goals themselves it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game as Thorpe make it 4 wins from 4 winning 4-3 to move 3 points clear at the top of the table. 2 goals from Alice Ford with a goal each for Charlotte Groves and Shanice Sutton seeing them to them to the win. North Walsham’s goals scored by the Middleton sisters, 1 for Luci with Hope netting a brace.

  Aylsham FC Ladies were also victorious at the weekend winning their 2nd league game of the season the 5th placed side at home playing bottom of the table Kirkley & Pakefield FC Ladies. Aylsham held a narrow lead 3-2 at half-time, Felicity Levett and Donna Parsons scoring for Kirkley & Pakefield. Different story 2nd half with Aylsham going on to find the back of the net 4 times to win the game 7-2, Abbie Charlton, Leanne Ferdani and Emma Gillespie amongst the goals.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

 Gorleston FC Ladies moved back to the top of Norfolk Women’s Division Two on Sunday returning to league action after a 2 weekend lay off. With a 100% start to the season Gorleston were at home playing fellow promoted side Harleston Town Ladies. A different record for the visiting side bottom with 3 defeats one of those forfeited. Have lost a few players particularly their strike force that netted 62 goals between them last season. Were up against a Gorleston side that is full of goals. Kayleigh Byrne scoring 4 against Harleston on Sunday. Bethany Turner scoring a hat-trick. Elsewhere the goals were spread about the side with Kelly Allen getting herself a brace. Leanne Smith, Melissa Anderson, Hannah Croft, Molly Sims and Jordan Bull were also on target in a thumping 14-0 win.

Having gone top of the table the weekend before, Sprowston Ladies had also started the season well like Gorleston with 3 wins from 3 were away on Sunday playing Bohemians Ladies who had 3 points on the board having been awarded a home win against Harleston early in the season. Got their 1st competitive point on the board at the weekend as they held Sprowston to a 1-1 draw, Ellie Blaxell scoring the goal for Bohemians.

   Leonie Daulby scored the only goal of the game for Long Stratton Ladies as they won away to Briston Wanderers Ladies on Sunday. The visitors have recovered from an opening day loss to win 3 league matches in a row to climb up to 3rd in the Division Two table.

Norfolk Women’s Division Three

There was one league match in Norfolk Women’s Division Three on Sunday and it saw 3rd placed Tavern Ladies go top of the table as they beat previous leaders East Coast Ladies in a 5 goal thriller. East Coast were at home went a goal down after 10 minutes, Tavern scored again soon after. East Coast reduced the lead to 2-1 after being awarded a penalty, Lucy Robbens putting the ball into the back of the net. Tavern finished the 1st half strongly adding 2 more goals a 4-1 lead at half-time. 

  East Coast Ladies came back into the game 2nd half, getting it back to 4-3 with goals from Rosie Cook and another from Robbens. Tavern scored again to make it 5-3 Rianna Scott with a hat-trick for the visitors, Lucy Kean and Emily Bell with their other goals. Cook got her 2nd of the game for East Coast late on but they were to lose a league game for the 1st time this season and lose their lead at the top of the table too.

ERWFL – Sunday 16th October

Like the FAWPL Round-Up before several of the ERWFL sides will pop up in the various County Cup ties to be covered later on with a limited number of league games taking place this Sunday.

ERWFL Premier Division

3 league games were played in the ERWFL Premier Division on Sunday. Bedford Ladies extend their lead at the top of the table to 7 points but they were made to work for it away to Colchester Town Ladies. Struggling at the wrong end of the table, Colchester Town got themselves into to 2-0 lead at the break, Kira Fitzpatrick scoring on 22 minutes, Georgia Box on target on 35. Bedford came back into it 2nd half an own goal reducing the deficit before Kaiya Gunn and Eden Kibron went on to score a goal each to see Bedford win the match 3-2.

   It was a 3-2 win away from home too for AFC Dunstable Ladies who move up from 5th to 4th in the ERWFL Premier Division table. Were playing Brentwood Town Ladies the Essex side scoring twice with Ashley Debnam and Sophie Lovell getting the goals. A brace scored by Amber Pearson plus a goal from Paige Kavanagh saw the 3 points go to Dunstable.

  cw3 Writtle Ladies were in action on Sunday too taking on Histon Ladies at home, winning to move 2 places up into 6th in the ERWFL Premier Division table. scoring 2 goals in both halves to win 4-0. A brace from Amy Simmons plus a goal each for Courtney Clarke (pictured) and Sophie Vale seeing the 3 points won. 

ERWFL Division One

  Just the one game in ERWFL Division One on Sunday, but it was a significant one as the table has a new leader. Wymondham Town Ladies moving a point above Cambridge City Ladies after the Norfolk side clinched the 3 points at home. Ipswich Wanderers Ladies were the visitors on Sunday had beaten Wymondham Town 2-1 on the opening day of the season in the reverse fixture. Wymondham have been unbeaten in the league since making it 4 successive wins in the league. Kayleigh Holloway putting Wymondham Town into the lead on the half hour mark, Ipswich Wanderers got it back to 1-1 5 minutes later the score level at half-time. Wymondham with 2 goals in 2 minutes went on to win  3-1 Alice Collins netting on 60 minutes, Gemma Sanders with the 3rd goal for Wymondham seeing them to victory.

FAWPL – Sunday 16th October

  Busy start to the week so this weeks, The Round-Up is a little later than normal. Plenty of games to cover from last Sunday, largely featuring County Cup matches, 1st and 2nd Round games and that means clubs might not be in, The Round-Up where you would expect them to. A limited fixture list in the FAWPL Southern and South East Division One, and some of those ending up being postponed meant just the 4 games were played. 2 in the league and 1 tie in each the FAWPL Cup and Plate 2nd Round.

FAWPL Southern Division

Just the one league match took place in the FAWPL Southern Division this Sunday and although it is still very early in the season this was a huge match at the bottom of the table with Queens Park Rangers bottom of the table without a point on the board after 6 matches hosting 2nd bottom Swindon Town Ladies the newly promoted side just 3 points better off with 1 win from their opening 7 games. Swindon Town climb up 2 places to 8th in the table as they double their points tally with a high scoring win. Opening the scoring 16 minutes into the 1st half, Amy Watham putting the visitors in front, the lead was 2-0 a minute later Samantha Hallsworth with the goal. 8 minutes later Watham was on target again to see Swindon Town lead 3-0 at half-time. Hallsworth scored her 2nd goal of the game 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Substitute Sandy Abi-Elias coming on in the 63rd minute netted for Swindon Town on 72 minutes. Into the last 10 minutes Ellie Maynard brought on at the start of the 2nd half made it 6-0, with Watham completing her hat-trick with 3 minutes left on the clock final score 7-0.

FAWPL Cup 2nd Round

  Were 2 ties in the FAWPL Cup 2nd Round featuring sides in the region scheduled for the weekend, heavy rain overnight on Saturday saw Portsmouth FC Ladies home match against Cambridge United WFC postponed, they will try again this coming Sunday.

cn7-1  Charlton Athletic Women were at home in the 2nd Round of the FAWPL Cup taking on fellow South East Division One side C&K Basildon Ladies. Striker Kit Graham (pictured) put Carlton into a 2-0 lead in the 1st half scoring 2 goals in 4 minutes on 19 and 23. C&K Basildon got it back to 2-1 before half-time captain Zoe Rushen with the goal. 2nd half Graham went on to complete her hat-trick scoring 5 minutes into the 2nd period. C&K Basildon battle hard to get back into the tie, Hannah Porter finding the back of the net late into the game, wasn’t to be enough, knocked out as Charlton win 3-2 to advance to the next round.

FAWPL Plate 2nd Round

2 ties were scheduled in the FAWPL Plate 2nd Round too this weekend, featuring sides in the region. Another postponement with Lewes Ladies meant to be hosting Maidenhead United Ladies who were unable to field a team.

In the other 2nd Round tie, South East Division One side Luton Town Ladies had a long trip down to the South West to play Plymouth Argyle Ladies. Nicola Henman putting Luton into the lead in the 1st half. Plymouth were reduced to 10 players just before half-time Kayleigh Lane red carded for stamping on an opponent. Luton pushed for more goals against Plymouth’s 10 2nd half but it was the home side who would score, Tori Marks levelling the tie at 1-1 on 62 minutes. Luton picked thing’s up after that, 16 year old Jodie Bellinger having come on in the 1st half due to an injury scoring her 1st goal for the 1st team, went on to score 2 more to make it a hat-trick. Plymouth pulled a goal back late into the game, Kayleigh Brown with the strike, Luton progress to the next round with a 4-2 win.

FAWPL South East Division One

 One league game in the FAWPL South East Division One at the weekend, with AFC Wimbledon Ladies travelling to Kent to play Gillingham FC Ladies. The points were shared the sides drawing 1-1 both goals in the 1st half, Emma Keady’s 31st minute goal for AFC Wimbledon cancelling out Jade Keogh’s 17th minute goal for Gillingham who remain unbeaten in mid-table, whilst the point is enough to take AFC Wimbledon back to the top of the table.
