Sunday 29th October

Sadly for the 3rd week running I am having to report the loss of another women’s football side struggling to recruit new players Championship North side, Swineshead Institute Ladies have had to call it a day a real shame wishing everyone involved with the club all the best for the future.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

A handful of league games played across Cambridgeshire this Sunday. Just the one game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership it was a big one nonetheless as leaders Netherton United Ladies took on 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies. Winning all 5 of their opening league games Netherton were already 5 points clear at the top. A Game in hand unbeaten in the league themselves Newmarket were looking to close the gap to 2 points. It was Netherton who had the better of the 1st half Emily Johnson opening the scoring in the 20th minute then 7 minutes later Yasmin Green doubled the lead for the hosts. 2-0 up at the break Newmarket struck early in the 2nd half to pull it back to 2-1 Sarah O’Rourke netting the goal. Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Two matches played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday. Was a good result away from home for 3rd placed Hungate Rovers Ladies keeping hold of that position in the table after they held 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies to a goalless draw ending their 100% winning start to the season.

Spalding United Ladies won for the 2nd successive league match this Sunday once again scoring 6 goals in the process too. Were at home to bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies. Stephanie Starr and Ellis Taylor-Williams both scoring a brace in the match. Rebecca Navarette and Louise Coggles also on target with a goal each in a 6-3 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

I was beginning to wonder if St Ives Town Ladies had a new Development side or whether they were just making it up? The last side out of the blocks across the whole of the East they were finally playing their 1st league match in the last Sunday of October. Away to 4th placed Isleham United Ladies. Sasha Smith usually involved with the 1st team was returning to action after 7 weeks out with injury she celebrated by scoring a brace in the match with Katherine Speed in her St Ives debut also scoring twice in a 4-1 win. Vicky Beeton scoring Isleham United’s goal.

Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves haven’t had that much action either this just their 2nd league match were looking to get off the mark at home to Burwell Tigers who did so themselves with an impressive 10-1 last time out. Tasted heavy defeat this time around however as Newmarket racked up the goals to claim their 1st 3 point haul of the season. Dominika Szary scoring a hat-trick in the game. Molly Agnew, Kate Silver, Amanda Stacey and Hollie Turner all claimed 2 goals each. Shelby Beveridge also celebrating a goal in a 14-0 win.
