Essex Women’s Premier Division
Very early days in the Essex Women’s Premier Division but already it looks like it will be very competitive at the top of the table. Hatfield Peveral Ladies leading the way the newly promoted side making it 2 wins from 2 to start life at the higher level came back from being 2-0 down against one of the title favourites Chelmsford City Ladies to win the game with a late winning goal. Megan Bliss and Shannon Hughes giving hosts Chelmsford City the 1st half lead. Yasmin Cowley getting it back to 2-1 early in the 2nd half for Hatfield Peveral soon added a 2nd to level the scores then in the 88th minute popped up with the winning goal to complete her hat-trick and see Hatfield Peveral claim the 3 points.
Another newly promoted side starting the new season well are Division One Champions, Frontiers Ladies as they to made it 2 league wins in to to join Hatfield Peveral on 6 points at the top of the Premier Division table. Were at home to Chigwell Ladies who they had beaten in extra-time in the County Cup last weekend. Frontier much more dominant this time around Kelly Holsworth and Jill Bartholomew both netting a hat-trick in the game with Sharon Ferguson also scoring in a 7-0 win.
Joining both Hatfield Peveral and Frontiers Ladies at the top of the Premier Division table on 6 points with their 2nd win of the season are Collier Row Tigers. At home to Hutton Ladies Reserves they won 2-0 to move up into 3rd on goal difference.
Lawford Ladies are another side likely to be challenging for the title this season and got their Premier Division campaign started with an away win against Runwell Sports Ladies this Sunday. A close 1st half saw Lawford leading 2-1. A hat-trick from Daisy Canny, along with a brace for Jasmine Cox and a goal from Zoe Perkin saw Lawford go on to win the match 6-2 to win their opening league game. Sophie Olley and Rachel Selfe with the goal in either half for Runwell Sports.
Corringham Cosmos, Division One runners-up were starting their league campaign this weekend in the Premier Division and got off to a winning start at home to Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. A narrow 1-0 lead at half-time Corringham Cosmos went on to score 3 more goals 2nd half to win the 3 points with a 4-1 result a brace from Chloe Sams along with a goal each for Rebecca Gallagher and Katelan Lonsdale. Grace Leavett on target with the goal for Beacon Hill Rovers.
Essex Women’s Division One
Newly reformed Hullbridge Sports Ladies lead the way in Essex Women’s Division One winning 3 from 3 at the start of the season and doing so in style averaging 10 goals a game so far without conceding. For the 2nd weekend in a row put 11 goals past their opponents to win the 3 points. Hosting FC Clacton Ladies this Sunday were leading 3-0 at half-time before rattling in 8 more goals in the 2nd half. Broghan Kelly top scoring in the game with 4 to her name. A hat-trick for Jennifer Lyttle. Megan Marney, Karley Hunt, Natalie Sandford and Kelly Smith all getting a goal each.
Plenty of goals elsewhere in Division One too and Hullbridge weren’t even close to the highest scorers at the weekend either as Leigh Ramblers Ladies also made it 3 wins from 3 to start the season hitting bottom side Benfleet Villa Ladies for 20! A huge lead at half-time 11-0 the goals continued to come 2nd half scoring 20 without conceding. 5 goals for Rhiana Castle. Emily Diwell and Katherine Newton both scoring 4 times. There was a hat-trick for Lucy Dalgarno. Amber Denton with 2 goals and 1 for Megan Downes completing the goalscorers list.
Closer matches elsewhere but still plenty of goals scored, Southend United Ladies also new to the league this season are up to 3rd in the Division One table making it 2 wins from 2 to start the season, coming out on top at home to Walden Ladies who scored 3 goals, Kim Jeffery netting a hat-trick. Southend United lead 2-1 at half-time Emily Pert and Lily-Maree Halliday with the goals. Both adding a 2nd in the 2nd half with Georgia Raby scoring their 5th goal with 15 minutes left securing the 3 points.
In another high scoring match new side Rayleigh Town Ladies secured their 1st win of the season in Division One away to Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves. The visitors leading 3-0 going into half-time, Chelmsford City came back with 3 goals in the 2nd half a brace from Kelsey Honeywood along with a goal from Kayla-Marie Everett an exciting 2nd 45 minutes the goals kept coming for Rayleigh Town too as they went on to score 4 more themselves to win the game 7-3. Isabelle Wellings getting 4 goals for Rayleigh Town, Holly Gash and Megan Harley also scoring.
Plenty of goals scored in Division One this Sunday but in the end it only take one goal to win a game and when it’s also your 1st league win it is doubly special. Billericay Town Ladies new Reserves side claiming their 1st ever league points at the weekend after a single goal scored in the 1st half saw them beat Waltham Forest Ladies away from home.
