Essex Women’s Premier Division
A busy weekend across the Essex Women’s football leagues a full programme in the Premier Division and plenty of movement too. At the top however it remains the same as Hatfield Peveral continue their excellent start to the season making it 3 wins from 3 at home to Harlow Town ladies Reserves on Sunday. Goals from Victoria King and Yasmin Cowley saw Hatfield Peveral leading 2-1, Casey Lynn scoring for Harlow. Cowley scoring her 2nd of the game on the hour mark Cara Wilshire ensuring the 3 points were won with a goal to make it 4-1 in the last 10 minutes.
Collier Row Tigers also join Hatfield Peveral Ladies on 9 points at the top of the Premier Division as they also made it 3 wins from 3 to start the season after coming out on top winning 4-3 in a 7 goal thriller. Away to Lawford Ladies a brace from Laura Bunton along with a goal from Sarah Finch plus and own goal saw the visitors claim all 3 points.
Move above Frontiers Ladies who drop to 3rd after they too looking for a 3rd win from their opening 3 league games were held to a draw at home by Runwell Sports Ladies. Ann Ansley and Anna Freeman scoring for Frontiers in the 1st half. Frances Murphy getting a goal for Runwell Sports to see them trailing 2-1 at half-time. The equalising goal coming 5 minutes from time Danielle Stace making it 2-2 to see the points shared.
Corringham Cosmos keep up their 100% winning start to the Premier Division season playing just their 2nd league game came out on top in a 10 goal encounter away to bottom side Chigwell Ladies who managed to score 4 goals not enough however as Corringham won the game 6-4. A brace each for Rebecca Gallagher and Chloe Sams. Madison Hubbard and Michelle Sumpter also getting on the scoresheet moves Corringham up to 4th in the table.
Another side making it 2 wins from 2 games to start their season are Eastern Avenue on the road at the weekend playing Hutton Ladies Reserves. A close game leading 2-1 at the break both sides scoring again in the 2nd half goals from Teliscia Linton, Katie Peers and Hannah Warner edging the result 3-2 in Eastern Avenue’s favour as they climb up to 5th.
Climbing to into 6th place in the Premier Division are Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies after a Jo Smeaton hat-trick helped them to their 2nd league win of the season at home to Chelmsford City Ladies, losing the game 3-1 Emily Kendle with the goal in the 1st half 3 straight defeats sees them dropping to 9th in the table.
Essex Women’s Division One
Hullbridge Sports Ladies made it 4 wins from 4 to lead the Essex Women’s Division One table by 3 points with 2nd placed Leigh Ramblers not in action this Sunday away Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves a hat-trick from Broghan Kelly along with goals from Danni Dorrington, Christina Fragnito and an own goal seeing them score 6 goals. Their defence was breach for the 1st time this season as Brentwood Town scored a goal in each half, Carla Rose and Nicole Manning.
Southend United Ladies in 3rd place in Division One join Leigh Ramblers on 9 points as they made it 3 wins from 3 to start the season coming out on top in a 10 goal thriller away to Rayleigh Town Ladies who scored 4 goals in the match both Eleasha Reeves and Isabelle Walling getting a brace each. A brace for Lauren Johnson along with goals for Lauren Cribbs, Emily Pert, Ria Toovey and Lydia Weekley seeing Southend United win the game 6-4.
Building on last weekends 1-0 win over Waltham Forest Ladies, Billericay Town Ladies Reserves leap up the table from 10th into 4th with a 2nd successive win this Sunday at home to Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves. Braces for both Megan Jeffery and Maisie Genning. Franziska Beck, Lisa Robins and Joanne Burgoyne also on target as they racked up a 7-1 win. Angela Holden with the 1st half goal for Chelmsford City.
A tough start to the season for Benfleet Villa Ladies losing heavily in their opening 3 league games they were at home to Alresford Colne Rangers this Sunday enjoyed an excellent 1st half. Scoring their 1st goals of the campaign, Carla Kracken, Joanne Rendall and Jameela Walker seeing them into a 3-0 lead. Alresford Colne Rangers came back 2nd half with goals from Joanne Harvey, Cassandra Villa and Ellie-May Griggs to level it at 3-3. Benfleet Villa Ladies held on to earn the draw and get their 1st point on the board moving them off the bottom of the table in the process.
