Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

3 wins from 3 now as Cambridge City Ladies Development continue their excellent start to the season to lead the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Away this Sunday were taking on ICA  Sports Ladies. A first goal of the season for Rachael Littlewood along with another 2 goals for Megan Tonks now 13 for the season from just 5 appearances seeing the visitors continue their 100% winning start with a 3-0 win.

  Hot on their heels though are Cambridge University Women, late starters in the Premiership built on their opening game 5-2 win over Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds with a 7-1 win over another of the promoted sides, Histon Ladies Reserves. Their goal scored by Philippa Hayden-Evans. 2 wins from 2 moving Cambridge University up into 2nd spot.

   Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds are off the mark at last in the Premiership clocking up their 1st league win at this level since winning promotion last term. At home were playing last season’s Championship North Champions, Riverside Ladies. Annie Posnett scoring a brace for the visitors, Fulbourn were celebrating victory with 5 different players on target for a goal in the match, Emma Clark, Katie Luddy, Amy Smith, Marie Stubbings and Kirsty Geal. Fulbourn winning the game 5-2.

   Everyone in the Premiership now clocking up a win with March Town United Ladies also getting off the mark this Sunday at home playing Netherton United Ladies. Holly Barber scoring in the first half for Netherton, March also finding the back of the net to see the sides drawing 1-1 at half-time the winning goal coming 2nd half going March’s way the 2-1 taking them off the foot of the Premiership table. Louise Barbour and Naomi McGarvie scoring the goals for March.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

 Both with 3 wins from 3 at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North, Wisbech Town Ladies and Ketton Ladies look like they will be slugging it out for the title even at this early stage of the season. Wisbech Town keeping up their 100% start to the season with victory away to Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday. Last season’s top scorer, Sophie Swinden leading the goal scoring charts for Wisbech Town already this time around scoring a brace on Sunday to move her onto 6 goals from 3 appearances. Leah Hall, Chelsea King and Rachael Simpson all getting on the scoresheet too for Wisbech Town with their first goals of the season in a 5-0 win.

  Ketton Ladies too continuing their 100% winning start to the season winning away to Wisbech St Mary Ladies this Sunday. A much closer result, Wisbech St Mary will likely have a say in the title race too.  Nicole Saunders getting a goal for Wisbech St Mary, Ketton edging the win getting 2 goals up the other end to win the 3 points.

   Cardea Ladies a new name in the Championship North this season are largely made up of the old Orton Rangers Ladies squad. Earned their first 3 point haul at the weekend under their new name in only their 2nd league game together bouncing back from a 6-0 defeat at home to Ketton Ladies to win 5-2 away from home against Pinchbeck United Ladies this Sunday. Their captain Laura Rudd scoring 4 goals with Jessica O’Sullivan also getting a goal. Chloe Gray and Anete Murniece on the scoresheet for Pinchbeck.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Haverhill Rovers Ladies strong start to the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South continued this Sunday as the newly formed side made it 4 wins from 4 in the league at the start of the campaign. Were away on Sunday playing Burwell Tigers Ladies whom they beat 5-0 in the League Cup 3 weeks ago. An even bigger result this time around, Pavlina Beasley, Hayley Turner and Joeli Kirby all getting two goals a piece, Abbi Griffin and Emma Barnes also getting a goal as did Amy Evans and Kayleigh Steed, their 1st goals for Haverhill. A six point lead already at the top of the Championship South.

  St Ives Town Ladies Development are 2nd in the Championship South table their 2nd win of the season coming away from home this Sunday. Were taking on Park Ladies the 3 points coming courtesy of a 5-1 win.

 For the 2nd game in a row Isleham United Ladies were involved in a 6-4 result. It was victory the first time around against Burwell Tigers. Not the case this time however as it was visitors Cambridge Ranger Women who emerged as the winners during the 10 goal encounter. Melanie Findlater and Emily Ingle both scoring a brace for Isleham United. Erika Balskute making her 1st start for Cambridge Rangers netting a hat-trick. Sharne Southgate moving onto 6 goals for the season also adding two goals to the total with Robyn Barlow also in the scoresheet Cambridge Rangers in 3rd position winning their 2nd league game of the season.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

The Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership sees a 3 way lead at the top of the table after this weekends results with Netherton United Ladies joining leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development and 3rd placed ICA Sports Ladies on 6 points. It was a win against fellow Peterborough based ICA Sports that saw Netherton United win their 2nd league game of the season and end ICA Sports 100% winning start. At home Netherton United opened the scoring on the half hour Georgina Parrett scoring to put the hosts 1-0 up. Doubled there lead 10 minutes into the 2nd half Emily Johnson getting the goal. Made sure of the 3 points with a 17 minutes left to play Alice MacNichol getting on the scoresheet. Netherton United climbing to 2nd above ICA Sports courtesy of the 3-0 win.

  Cambridge University Women were starting their Premiership season this Sunday, began with a home match against Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. The visitors still in search of their 1st league point following promotion took an early lead in the game through Katie Luddy. Marie Stubbings also getting a goal for Fulbourn. Cambridge University hit back to score twice and see the sides level at half-time. The hosts having the better of the 2nd half went on to score 3 more goals to win the game 5-2. 

  Riverside Ladies climb off the bottom of the Premiership after they won their first league game of the season at home to March Town United Ladies on Sunday, up to 5th, Annie Posnett struck in a hat-trick for the Championship North Champions. Lianna Bell also getting a goal in a 4-1 win. Danielle Westgate scoring for March Town United.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Like the Premiership above there is now a 3 way tie on 6 points at the top of the Championship South table. With Wisbech Town Ladies not in action, Ketton Ladies and Wisbech St Mary Ladies both close the gap. Ketton Ladies winning away to Cardea Ladies on Sunday to start their season with 2 wins in the league. Fran Kavanagh striking for 4 goals in the game, Lauren McKeever and Claire Lawrenson also getting a goal each in a comfortable 6-0 win.

   A comfortable score too for Wisbech St Mary Ladies after they win for the 2nd time this season in the Championship North. At home were taking on Pinchbeck United Ladies. Josie Turner finding the back of the net for 5 goals. Hannah Shales too on target getting a hat-trick as Wisbech St Mary ran out 8-2 winners.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

 Haverhill Rovers Ladies win for a 3rd successive league match to climb 6 points clear in the Championship South, starting with a 100% record 4 wins in total were on the road at the weekend away to Cambridge Rangers Women. Abbi Griffin scoring a hat-trick with goals too for Joeli Kirby and Kayleigh Nolan in a 5-0 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

Cambridge City Ladies Development were playing in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup this Sunday. A new group format this season, in Group C were away taking on Histon Ladies Reserves who they beat 6-0 away from home on the opening day. Cambridge City with a repeat scoreline netting 6 goals again, Megan Tonks scoring 5 of them, Ellie Cullum too finding the back of the net. Histon Ladies Reserves did get on the scoresheet themselves this time however with Philippa Hayden-Evans scoring a consolation goal.

Plenty of goals scored too in the other League Cup group match played on Sunday. In Group D, Isleham United Ladies travelled to play fellow Championship South side, Burwell Tigers Ladies. The hosts scoring 4 goals, Charlotte Fogarty with a brace along with a goal a piece fir Elisa Heinamaa and Hannah Dewey. Isleham United though hit there opponents for 6 goals up the other end to win all 3 points, Laura Todd and Louisa Harwood both netting a brace, the other goalscorers, Rachael Turner and Melanie Findlater.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

 Two wins out of two to start the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership season for Cambridge City Ladies Development followed up last weekends opening day win over Histon Ladies Reserves with another away victory over another of the newly promoted sides, Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. 6-0 in their 1st game it was a much closer affair this time around. A good start for Cambridge City Emily Reed firing the visitors into the lead after 2 minutes. Lucy Hurst striking from 25 yards to make it 2-0 in the 11th minute. Were 3-0 to the good just 2 minutes later with Megan Tonks getting the goal. Katie Luddy pulling it back to 3-1 for Fulbourn midway through the 2nd half. Cambridge City scoring again late in the first half to have a 4-1 advantage Tonks getting her 2nd of the game. Fulbourn far from out of it threatened a comeback 2nd half Marie Stubbings and Kirsty Geal pulling it back to 4-3. Cambridge City held out to claim the 3 points. Two games two 4-3 losses for Fulbourn.

   Also beginning the Premiership season with two wins out of two are ICA Sports Ladies. 2-0 at Riverside Ladies on the opening day were at home this Sunday taking on March Town United Ladies playing their 1st competitive match of the season. Several new players lining up for March United. Elle Nutter scoring their 1st goal of the season, it was ICA Sports who had their noses in front at the break with Donna Nicholls scoring twice. Nicholls completing her hat-trick in the 2nd half t seal a 3-1 victory.

A heavy defeat for Histon Ladies Reserves on the opening day of the season were at home again this Sunday taking on Netherton United Ladies who started the season with a 4-3 win over Fulbourn. Just a single goal settling this game and it went the way of the hosts as Histon Ladies Reserves got their 1st 3 points on the board.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North on Sunday the Wisbech derby with Wisbech St Mary hosting Wisbech Town. Both sides recording big wins on the opening day of the season. It was once again a high scoring game ending up with an emphatic win for the visitors, Wisbech Town netting 7 times against their rivals, new signings Amy Newell and Aisling Ryan netting on their debuts. There were goals too for Sophie Swindon, Chloe Stanborough, Emma Woods, Kaylie Swindon and captain Faye Kowalewsky. The final score 7-1 Megan Radcliffe with the consolation goal for Wisbech St Mary.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

A good start to the season in the Championship South for new side Haverhill Rovers Ladies, winning 5-2 on the opening day away to St Ives Town Ladies Development recorded a 2nd successive win at home for the 1st time this season taking on Burwell Tigers Ladies. Joeli Kirby scoring a hat-trick for Haverhill Rovers with Abbi Griffin and Emma Barnes both scoring their 1st goals for the club in a 5-0 win.

  St Ives Town Ladies Development bounced back from an opening day loss to win their 1st game of the season away to Isleham United Ladies on Sunday. The hosts starting with a 6-1 win themselves over Park Ladies scored twice in the game, a brace from Lauren Gibson along with a goal each for Fran Worrall, Connie Liddiard and Jade Carpenter securing a 5-2 win for St Ives.

The county league kicked off this Sunday in Cambridgeshire with their once again being a top tier the Premiership with 2 division one leagues the Championship North & South. 8 teams in the Premiership with 3 sides promoted. 7 sides in the Championship South with Haverhill Rovers Ladies re-establishing a women’s team a new addition with Netherton United Ladies at last setting up a Reserves side. Cardea Ladies the new side in the Championship North which is down to just 6 sides after two late withdrawals which sadly include Spalding United Ladies.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

3 games to start the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Cambridge City Ladies Development the early leaders with a big win away to Championship South Champions, Histon Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Cambridge City’s young development side having gained vital experience playing at this level will be stronger this season and started well. Yasmin Crow getting her season off to a flying with a hat-trick on the opening day. Megan Tonks also claimed a brace with Anna Kanz also hitting the back of the net with a goal in a 6-0 victory.

Also winning away from home on the opening day of the season in the Premiership are, double cup winners ICA Sports Ladies. Playing in a Peterborough derby again Championship North Champions Riverside Ladies, ICA Sports claimed the 3 points with a 2-0 win the goals scored by Megan Purnell and Donna Nicholls

A 7 goal thriller elsewhere in the Premiership with the last of the 3 promoted sides Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds also losing out on the opening day, away to Netherton United Ladies who were giving debuts to 5 players. Fulbourn opened the scoring at The Grange. Netherton came back to level Emily Johnson with the goal. Yasmin Green finding the back of the net struck to give the hosts the lead but they were to be pegged back to 2-2 at half-time with Fulbourn scoring in the 44th minute. Into the 2nd half and a penalty to Netherton a chance to restore the lead Green converting the spot kick for her 2nd goal of the game 3-2 were pushed all the way by Fulbourn who were looking for the another equaliser a 4th goal needed Claire Gallagher shooting to make it 4-2 in the last five minutes but there was no relaxing at the death as Fulbourn pulled it back to 4-3 Netherton holding on for the 3 points. Katie Luddy, Marie Stubbings and Krissie Taylor all scoring on the opening day for Fulbourn.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

  A good opening Sunday to the Championship North for the two Wisbech clubs as they both record big wins on home soil to start their seasons. Wisbech Town Ladies beginning with a home game against Pinchbeck United Ladies who have strengthened over the close season as they begin their second season. A tough start for the visitors however as they were blown away by Wisbech Town, Sophie Swindon top scorers last season hitting the ground running this campaign with an opening day hat-trick. A brace each for Chloe Stanborough and new captain, Faye Kowalewsky with Emma Woods and Kaylie Swinden both grabbing a goal each in a 9-0 victory.

  Top of the table by two goals rivals Wisbech St Mary also start the season with a comfortable home win taking on Hungate Rovers Ladies. Josie Turner moving to St Mary having been with town last season netting an opening day hat-trick, Hannah Shales on target for a brace with Eilish Brown also scoring and own goal too setting up a good result at the beginning of the season 7-0.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

 3 games to start the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership, Isleham United Ladies ending Sunday top of the pile with an away against Park Ladies who drop down from the Premiership after a couple of difficult seasons. Isleham starting well recording a 6-1 win to earn the 3 points.

  New to the league are Haverhill Rovers Ladies, returning to women’s football, a 1st team competing in Cambridgeshire have made some notable signings catching the imagination making them favourites for the title. Still regardless of potential these thing’s have to be earned and beginning their season away to St Ives Ladies Development who themselves are beginning just their 2nd season in women’s football got the 3 points on the opening day coming home with a 5-2 win. Hayley Turner scoring a brace, Paulina Beasley, Joeli Kirby and Siobhan White all adding a goal each for Haverhill. Ellen and Frances Chapman both scoring for St Ives Development.

  A trio of away victories in the Championship South on the opening day with Cambridge Rangers Women getting a good result on the road up against Burwell Tigers Ladies on Sunday.  Getting the 3 points in a 4-0 win.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

 All over in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership the final matches played this weekend. St Ives Town Ladies already crowned Champion’s finishing their season in midweek with a home win against runners-up Newmarket Town Ladies. 3-0 the final score a brace from Katie Stancombe along with a goal from Amy Seymour-Shove securing the result.

  Newmarket back in action on Sunday away to 3rd placed Netherton United Ladies the two sides playing for the last time this season. A winning end to the season for Newmarket Town Ladies, Laura Bailey netting twice along with a goal each for Abbi Griffin and Antonia Smith in a 4-1 win.

  A double header to end the season between March Town United Ladies at home to Cambridge City Ladies Development, 4th versus 5th could have swapped places if results had gone March’s way, instead it was Cambridge City who made 4th their own winning both games 2-0. Bella Simmons and Megan Tonks on target with a goal apiece in the 1st game. Tonks got both of the Cambridge City goals in the 2nd game. A 5th placed finish for March in their 1st season in the Premiership.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

 Almost over too in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North as Riverside Ladies move into top position level on points with Ketton Ladies with 2 left to play. The late entrants to the league dominating losing just the one league game won 7-1 at home to Wisbech Town Ladies in midweek to close the gap to 3 points on leaders Ketton. Wisbech Town finishing 3rd in the table playing for the final time this season. 

  A home match against 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies on Sunday for Riverside. Jade Ramm scoring a hat-trick for the Peterborough based side. Samantha Woodham with a brace with Gabija Pavlova, Dionne Lawton and Lianna Bell all getting a goal in an 8-0 win. A double header at home to Hungate Rovers Ladies to come this Sunday and already with their noses in front on goal difference only a point is needed to ensure the league is won.

Spalding United Ladies were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies this Sunday in their penultimate game of the season. Scoring 4 goals without reply in the game collected all three points.

  An encouraging end to the season for Orton Rangers Ladies having struggled for much of the season end the season earning 8 points from their last 5 matches. A 2nd successive win in their final game of the season at home to Hungate Rovers Ladies. A single goal enough to win the 3 points end the season on a positive note.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

 Two big wins for Histon Ladies Reserves in their final two games of the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South saw them not only move into the lead at the top of the table but overhaul their title rivals Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds superior goal difference too. A midweek win at home to bottom side Burwell Tigers 11-0 moving them level on points with the leaders. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks top scoring in the game with a hat-trick. Were at home on Sunday for the final time this season taking on Cambridge Rangers another huge win 13-0 saw Histon move 3 points clear at the top ahead on goal difference with Fulbourn in action for the final time on Tuesday against Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves.

  Before then Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves were in action on Sunday away to St Ives Town Development knowing a point or better would secure them 3rd position in the Championship South table. A close game between the sides, goals from Kate Silver Dominika Szary and Sarah O’Rourke seeing Newmarket win the game 3-2 to claim 3rd spot.

  Onto the final game of the season a win the requirement for Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds at home to Newmarket Town Reserves if they wanted to finish level with Histon at the top. Fulbourn winning the game 5-2 to finish level on points with Histon at the top of the table both losing just the one game each all season.

NB – Jumped the gun by declaring Histon Ladies Reserves league winners as according to league rules finishing level on points there must be a play-off game. Wasn’t aware of this the date for the game to be announced.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

No games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday but that was good news for St Ives Town Ladies as they become the league champions awarded the 3 points to move 8 points clear at the top of the table meaning they cannot be caught by 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies who have two left to play. St Ives Town Ladies play their final match of the season this Wednesday 9th May at St Ives Town FC’s ProEdge Stadium a 6:45pm kick-off against Newmarket Town Ladies who also were awarded a home win at the weekend have secured runners-up spot.

 Congratulations to St Ives Town Ladies on becoming Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership Champions.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North a hone win awarded to Wisbech Town Ladies see’s them close the gap to league leaders Ketton Ladies to just 3 points with one more game left to play. Are level on goal difference too with Ketton who have played out their fixtures. 

The other side involved in the title race are 3rd placed Riverside Ladies recovering from defeat against Ketton their 1st in the league they bounced back with an away win against 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies this Sunday. Samantha Woodham netting a hat-trick. Jess Hill and Lianna Bell also on target with a goal each in a 5-1 win. Have 4 games left to play 6 points to close on Ketton Ladies. A big game coming up tonight as they meet Wisbech Town Ladies at home a 6:30 kick-off for this one.

A historic result for Orton Rangers Ladies as they win for the 1st time this season in the Championship North and it was a big win too at home to the side immediately above them Pinchbeck United Ladies. 10-2 the final score the result taking Orton Rangers off the foot of the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves pick up 6 points in 3 days to climb above St Ives Town Development into 3rd spot in Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South. Starting on Sunday were away to bottom side Burwell Tigers Ladies. A Hat-trick from Dominika Szary, Laura Bailey netting a brace and a goal for Abbi Griffin seeing Newmarket Town to a 6-0 win. 

  Played again on Tuesday evening at home against Isleham United Ladies playing their final league game of the season another high scoring game between the sides. Sarah O’Rourke scoring a hat-trick for Newmarket Town along with a brace for Hollie Turner saw the hosts to a 5-3 victory the result securing 3rd place for Newmarket Town. One more game for Isleham United Ladies to come a big one to a Cup Final on Weds 16th May at Newmarket Town FC playing ICA Sports Ladies in the Junior Invitation Cup.

  The battle for the title in the Championship South will go all the way leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds seeing there lead at the top cut to just 3 points as 2nd placed Histon Ladies Reserves having beaten them last week in the Division One Cup Final secured a 2-0 away win to St Ives Town Ladies Development on Sunday. Philippa Hayden-Evans and Lauren Threadgold both on target in 2-0 win. Could all come down to goal difference and right now Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds hold the advantage with their final game at home to Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves scheduled for Tuesday 15th May.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

St Ives Town Ladies are one win away from becoming Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership Champions. A 5 point lead at the top of the table with 2 games remaining now. Played the 1st of a double with Netherton United Ladies former Premiership leaders this Sunday, now 3rd in the league it was a close game the sides drawing 0-0 at the break. The winning goal coming in the 2nd half Georgia Stancombe with her 26th goal of the season seeing St Ives Town Ladies win the game 1-0. Up against Netherton United again this coming Sunday a win ensuring the title anything less and they open the door to 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies the top 2 scheduled to meet on Wednesday 9th May.

  Elsewhere in the Premiership Cambridge University Ladies were hosting a double header up against March Town United Ladies. Both games seeing plenty pf goals scored, Amanda Wainwright scoring a hat-trick in both matches for Cambridge University yet they didn’t take anything home from either game. Shannon Shaw scoring a hat-trick too for March Town United, with Emma Frost netting a double and a goal for Naomi McGuire in a 6-3 victory. Shaw again on target in the 2nd game with a brace taking her onto 25 goals for the season with Ella Nutter and Rachel Dean also scoring in a 4-3 win. 

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

A win for Ketton Ladies in their final league game of the season this Sunday. A reverse of last weeks home loss to Riverside Ladies 2-1 in the visitors favour then it was Ketton who were celebrating the 2-1 this time around and see Riverside beaten in the league for the first time since joining the division. The Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North leaders finishing on 33 points are 9 clear of 2nd placed Wisbech Town Ladies who have 3 left to play. Riverside Are back in 4th can reach 39 points if they claim maximum points from their remaining games. Have to play Wisbech Town Ladies in their run in.

  Wisbech Town Ladies themselves move up into 2nd above local rivals Wisbech St Mary Ladies as they recorded a big win away from home on Sunday the defeat ending Wisbech St Mary’s own title hopes. Sophie Gutteridge moving past 40 goals for the season as she netted another hat-trick. Chelsea King and Josie Turner also claiming a goal each an own goal completing a 6-0 win.

  In the other match played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South on Sunday Spalding United Ladies drew 2-2 at home to Orton Rangers Ladies a 2nd successive draw for Orton Rangers at the foot of the table.

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South on Sunday 4th placed Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves at home to Cambridge Rangers in 5th. Joeli Kirby scoring a hat-trick for Newmarket. There were goals to for Lauren Deller, Hollie Turner, Dominika Szary, Sarah O’Rourke and Megan Kane in an 8-1 win moving Newmarket to within 4 points of 3rd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development with 2 games in hand.

Two finals coming up this week. First up the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup Final between ICA Sports Ladies & Newmarket Town Ladies tonight Weds 2nd May 7:30pm KO at Ely City FC then back to Ely City FC tomorrow Thursday 3rd May for the Division One Cup Final between Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds & Histon Ladies Reserves.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

Women’s Football East was in Cambridgeshire this Sunday to watch the semi-final between Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds and Wisbech Town Ladies in the new Division One Cup competition. The two sides topping their respective groups to make it into the last 4 of the competition. Histon Ladies Reserves awaiting the winner after their 5-4 success over Riverside Ladies last weekend.

  At Fulbourn it was Wisbech the visitors who got off to the better start pushing forwards and causing problems for the Fulbourn defence top scorer Sophie Gutteridge pressing the ball inside the box nicking it to attack and score. Fulbourn got themselves back into the game breaking away down the right Marie Stubbings cross put into the six yard box was nodded in by Krissie Taylor from close range. The goal giving Fulbourn confidence the home side finished the 1st half the stronger taking the lead Stubbings the scorer with a fantastic volley from the top corner of the area.

  A numerical advantage from the bench Fulbourn could rotate players Wisbech suffered another injury blow as goalkeeper Becky Milner pulled up hurting her knee and had to come off. Fulbourn on top pushed forwards Sharon Pinner breaking forwards into the box timing her run perfectly as Stubbings sent the ball into the area to stab her shot wide of the substitute keeper to extend Fulbourn’s lead. 15 minutes left and Wisbech pulled it back to 3-2 Gutteridge through to attack lobbing the ball over the keeper to score her 2nd of the game. Fulbourn though held onto their lead and reached the final. The game to be played on Thursday 3rd May at Ely City FC with a 7:30pm kick-off.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

St Ives Town Ladies leading the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership were playing another double header this Sunday against ICA Sports Ladies. Took 4 points from the games with a win and a draw. Amy Seymour-Shove netting the only goal of as St Ives Town collected 3 points in a 1-0 win.

  In the 2nd game Katherine Speed netting a brace for St Ives Town her goals were cancelled out with Donna Nicholls and Megan Purnell both on target for ICA Sports in a 2-2 draw.

   3rd placed Newmarket Town Ladies were playing host to Netherton United Ladies on Sunday. 4 points between the sides Newmarket Town ensured victory late into the game. Drawing 0-0 at half-time. The dead lock was finally broken on the hour Molly Agnew getting the goal to put the hosts into the lead. Into the final 10 minutes and two late goals for Newmarket Town sealed the win. Hollie Turner making it 2-0 with Abbi Griffin adding a 3rd goal with 3 minutes left. The gap closed to a point Newmarket Town are now above Netherton United into 2nd having been awarded 6 points over bottom side Park Ladies.

   Park Ladies themselves finished their season on the road against Cambridge University Women the side immediately above them. The hosts getting off to a great start scoring in the opening seconds, Amanda Wainwright getting the goal. Moriah Mulroe scoring a 2nd goal for Cambridge University in the 20th minute. Both players scoring another goal each in the 2nd half a goal for Shannon Horner in injury time saw the hosts run out 5-2 winners.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North league leaders Ketton Ladies were at home on Sunday taking on Riverside Ladies. The visitors coming out on top to maintain their 100% league record with a 7th win to climb back into 3rd position. Jane Roche scoring for Ketton. Goals fro Gabija Pavlova and Samantha Woodham saw Riverside win the game 2-1.

  Wisbech St Mary close the gap on the leaders as a result as they recorded a big away win at Pinchbeck United Ladies on Sunday. Amy Magnus scoring a double hat-trick for Wisbech St Mary with Carlie Knight also scoring a brace in an 8-0 win that see’s the 2nd placed side close the gap to Ketton t 7 points. 

   In the other match played in the Championship North this Sunday it was a 1st point of the season for bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies earned away to Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday. The sides drawing 2-2. 

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

St Ives Town Ladies Development 3rd in the Championship South were victors this weekend at home against Isleham United Ladies winning the game 3-1.

  Bottom side Burwell Tigers earned a point at home just their 2nd of the season with Tess Smith getting the goal in a 1-1 draw with Cambridge Rangers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

St Ives Town Ladies maintain their 6 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership with a big win away to Cambridge University Women on Sunday. Georgia Stancombe scoring a hat-trick in the match for the league leaders. Katherine Speed also scoring a brace with a goal each for Amy Seymour-Shove and Tierney Coulson in a 7-2 victory. Sophia D’Angelo with both goals for Cambridge University scored in the 2nd half.

Also win on the road for second placed Netherton United Ladies on Sunday away to March Town United Ladies. Goals from Clare Gallagher and Emily Johnson seeing the visitors into a 2-0 half-time lead. March Town United pulling it back to 2-1 in the 2nd half with Emma Frost on target Netherton United keeping hold of their lead to win the 3 points.

  Away wins all round for the top three as Newmarket Town Ladies collected all 3 points away to Cambridge City Ladies Development on Sunday. Ellie Cullum netting a brace for the hosts Newmarket Town had two players score a brace each to win the match 4-2, Molly Agnew and leading goalscorer Abbi Griffin with 21 now both getting 2 goals each.

   ICA Sports Ladies compete a quartet of away wins in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership as they ran riot against bottom side Park Ladies this Sunday. Lorna Hart scoring a hat-trick. Clare Knibbs getting a brace, 6 more goals shared out amongst the Peterborough based side with Carmen Herridge, Zoe Leddy, Donna Nicholls, Holly Partner, Megan Purnell and Sarah Rouse on target in an 11-1 win the result taking ICA Sports back up into 5th in the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

 A new competition introduced to the Cambridgeshire Women’s league this year see’s the Championship North & South sides contesting the Division One Cup the sides slit into 4 mini leagues of 3 – 4 sides with the group winners progressing to the semi-finals.

 This Sunday saw the 1st of those semi-finals played with Histon Ladies Reserves from the Championship South hosting Riverside Ladies from the Championship North. A high scoring game between the sides and very much the game of two halves Histon having the much better of the first half going into the break with a 4-1 lead. Riverside Ladies coming back in the 2nd half took it 3-1 the goal for Histon clinching them a place in the final as they ran out 5-4 winners. A hat-trick for top scorer Kirsty Lemmon-Sparkes taking her onto 26 for the season for Histon with Philippa Hayden-Evans with her 16th goal of the season and Angelica Fachechi getting the other goals. Jess Hill with a brace for Riverside. Hannah Stubbs and Jade Ramm also getting on the scoresheet.

 One group match to be played this weekend a home tie against Championship North side Wisbech Town Ladies awaiting the victor as Championship South leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds hosted Newmarket Town Ladies to decide who would run out group winners. Newmarket Town however went into the game a player short and their 10 were no match for a side in good form this season with Marie Stubbings having an excellent season in front of goal scoring twice more this Sunday to move onto 38 goals for the season. Krissie Taylor and Katie Luddy also finding the back of the net for Fulbourn in a 4-1 win to take them through to this coming Sunday’s semi-final. Amanda Stacey getting the goal for Newmarket Town.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

One match played in Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday with Wisbech Town Ladies hosting bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies. Despite being short on numbers Wisbech Town Ladies have a prolific strike force and top scorer Sophie Swinden scored to put the hosts into an early lead. Wisbech Town dominating the 1st half as goals from Chloe Riches, Josie Turner, Emily Stephenson and Polly Norman followed along with a brace for Kaylie Swinden to see Wisbech Town Ladies leading 7-1 at the break. Orton Rangers Ladies pulled 2 goals back in the 2nd half. Wisbech Town awarded a penalty late on Kaylie Swindon stepping up to score and complete her hat-trick. 8-3 the final score moving Wisbech Town back up into 3rd in the Championship North table.

 Two games in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South this Sunday both resulting in 4-1 victories for the host side. A 2nd win of the season for Cambridge Rangers as they host Isleham United Ladies on Sunday morning. The win taking them level on 7 points with Isleham United.  3rd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development also recording a 4-1 win at home to bottom side Burwell Tigers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

St Ives Town Ladies open up a strong 6 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership after claiming 3 wins over Cambridge City Ladies Development in their double header this weekend. Played at Cambridge City Ladies, Trinity Field ground. A 3-0 win for St Ives Town in the 1st match. Mollie Flack scoring her 1st goal for St Ives their were goals too for Katie Stancombe and Katherine Speed.

Katherine Speed was also on target for a goal in the 2nd game with Georgia Stancombe also scoring in a 2-0 victory. The two wins putting St Ives Town into a 6 point lead over previous leaders Netherton United Ladies who were awarded the 3 points against Park Ladies this Sunday. Both have plenty of games left yet the sides meeting 3 times in the Premiership 6 games for both, two of those games are against one another.

 Newmarket Town Ladies have 7 league games left to play in 3rd position are 10 behind leaders St Ives Town with a game in hand. Won at home on Sunday against ICA Sports Ladies, Abbi Griffin (pictured) opening the scoring for Newmarket Town in the 6th minute. Held onto the one nil advantage until half-time. Laura Bailey scoring in the opening seconds of the 2nd period to double Newmarket Town’s lead. Griffin extended the lead further making it 3-0 on 54 minutes. Carmen Herridge pulling a goal back for ICA Sports with 20 minutes left. Jess Linger hit a 30 yard wonder strike to bury the ball into the back of the net with 10 minutes left to play to seal a 4-1 win for Newmarket Town. Work to do but far from out of the title picture as they have to play both Netherton United Ladies and St Ives Town to in the coming weeks, going to be an interesting end to the season.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Ketton Ladies extended their lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North to 10 points this Sunday with a comfortable home win over bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies. 6-1 the winning score.

 2nd placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies recovering from a heavy loss against leaders Ketton 2 weeks ago were playing Hungate Rovers Ladies away from home this weekend. The sides taking home a share of the points, April Cooper and Kelsey McKenna on target for Hungate Rovers. Goals from Eilish Brown and Lauren Laws for Wisbech St Mary seeing the sides draw 2-2.

   Riverside Ladies in 3rd position close the gap to Wisbech St Mary Ladies to just 2 points as they won their 6th straight league game since joining the league earlier in the season. At home on Sunday taking on Spalding United Ladies. Jess Hill netted twice with a goal each for Gabija Pavlova, Sophie Harris and Lianna Bell in a 5-0 win.

  A big win away from home for Wisbech Town Ladies on Sunday away to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Top scorer Sophie Gutteridge now with 35 goals form 16 appearances scored 5 in the match. Chloe Riches scoring a hat-trick. Captain Emily Stephenson got herself a brace with Annie Rooks also getting a goal in an 11-0 win. 

 Advantage to Ketton Ladies at the moment a healthy lead, Wisbech St Mary, Riverside and Wisbech Town though all have games in hand on the leaders.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds remain 6 points clear at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South as they won away from home against Cambridge Rangers on Sunday. Marie Stubbings scoring for the 36th time this season on the scoresheet once again for Fulbourn. Stacey Kemp grabbed a brace with Yasmine Upson also finding the back of the net with a goal in a 4-1 win.

  Histon Ladies Reserves in 2nd spot open up a 10 point gap between themselves at 3rd placed St Ives Town Ladies Development as they beat them 5-1 at home on Sunday. Histon didn’t have it all their own way however as they were trailing 1-0 at half-time before coming on strong in the 2nd half. Hannah Gordon scoring a hat-trick for Histon. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks added two more goals to her tally of 23 for the season. Histon have 2 games in hand on Fulbourn at the top.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup

One group game from the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup this Sunday from Group A. Isleham United Ladies at home to Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves. Having knocked Newmarket out of the Junior Invitation Cup in the last four with a 3-2 win it was a much different result this time around as Isleham United suffered a heavy defeat. Both Joeli Kirby and Hollie Turner scoring hat-tricks for the away side. Hannah Rogers, Kate Silver, Molly Agnew, Dominika Szary and Dana Thompson all getting a goal a piece in an 11-0 victory that puts Newmarket Town Reserves top of the table with a match against Fulbourn to come.
