Sunday 10th September

There are 9 sides contesting this season’s Suffolk Women’s Division, AFC Kesgrave Ladies and Hadleigh United Ladies the 2 new sides joining the league from last season. Ipswich Phoenix Ladies have become Ipswich Athletic Youth Ladies. Ipswich Town Ladies Development winning the title last season going unbeaten now promoted to the ERWFL. Walsham Le Willow Ladies start as favourites to win this season’s title. Both East Bergholt United Ladies and Brantham Athletic Ladies will be chasing them hard and this league always throws up the unexpected result throughout the season.

Suffolk Women’s Division

The season’s opening weekend saw 2 fixtures played, Brantham Town Ladies were at home against Leiston St Margarets Ladies to begin their season. A convincing result to get off the mark Brantham winning the game 6-0 a brace for Kirsten Hutchings. There was also a brace for new signing Jodie Sharp joining from rivals East Bergholt. Danielle Harvey and Sophie Crabtree also opening their goal account in the opening fixture.

A change of name and new beginning seeing a Ipswich Athletic Youth Ladies begin the 2017/18 season with their 1st ever win having been Ipswich Phoenix the two seasons before. Away to Coplestonians Ladies on the opening day held a narrow 1-0 advantage at the break before going on to win 4-1 in the 2nd half. 4 different goal scorers too with, Charlotte Archer, Madeleine Fairbrother, Natalie Southgate and Alicia Wilson all putting the ball into the back of the net.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 30th April

The final day of the league season on Suffolk this Sunday all league positions decided last weekend the only thing to remain was whether new League Champions, Ipswich Town Ladies Development could go the entire season unbeaten. At home taking on East Bergholt United Ladies who had secured a 3rd placed finish. Ipswich Town found themselves trailing 1-0 at half-time with Jodie Sharp netting for East Bergholt. A frustrating afternoon for Ipswich Town they found an equalising goal in the 2nd half to take a point from the match, Jennifer Purbrook scoring. The result sees Ipswich Town end their 1st season unbeaten with 12 wins and 2 draws. Face East Bergholt United Ladies again on Thursday night replacing Bacton United Ladies who were disqualified, in the Suffolk Women’s League Cup Final at Woodbridge Town FC.

  2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies ended the season with a draw at home to 5th placed Bacton United Ladies coming back in the 2nd half from 2-1 down to draw 2-2. A brace for Eleanor Catchpole seeing Bacton United Ladies lead at the break, goals from Gemma Carter and Norma Locker seeing Walsham Le Willows earn a point.

  Copleston Ladies ended a difficult season on a high last season’s Champions winning well away from home against Leiston St Margarets Ladies goals from Jemma Wessels and Elysia Young along with a brace for Sophie Crane seeing Copleston win 4-0.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 23rd April

Thirteen’s not an unlucky number for Ipswich Town Ladies Development side as they won the Suffolk Women’s Division in their 13th match, clinching the title with a game to spare, unbeaten too in their very 1st season together. Needing one more point to be sure of becoming Champions were at home to Copleston Ladies this Sunday, 11 wins and a draw previously a brace from Emily Steward, along with a goal each for Khadija Gbaja, Grace Bowman and Destiny Minors saw them to a comfortable 6-0 victory. Could yet be a league and cup double as they take on East Bergholt United in the rearranged League Cup Final on the 4th May, also play East Bergholt at home this Sunday in their final league match looking to end the season unbeaten.

Congratulations to Ipswich Town Ladies Development on becoming Suffolk Women’s Division Champions.

  East Bergholt United moved up into 3rd place in the Suffolk Women’s Division playing their penultimate match of the season and in doing so pushed Brantham Athletic Ladies who were playing their last game of the season down into 4th spot. A brace from Jessica Oxlade for East Bergholt with goals too for Jodie Sharp, Victoria Campbell and Pippa King in a 5-0 away win. Brantham finish 4th, East Bergholt secure 3rd place in the table with the two games against Ipswich Town Ladies Development to come.

Bacton United Ladies in 5th wiped out their -11 goal difference with a thumping win away to Ipswich Phoenix Ladies who end up without a point rooted to the bottom of the table after a tough season. Lois Balfour was on target scoring 5 goals for Bacton, Francesca Rainbird netting a hat-trick too. A goal each for Rebekah Blazak, Natalie Green, Maria Walker and Jemma Mortimer. Lauren Jacobs also in the scoresheet with a brace in a 14-0 win. One more round of league games to come before the end of season League Cup Final in Suffolk.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 9th April

Two games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this weekend, Walsham Le Willows secured runners-up spot in the league winning at home against Copleston Ladies. A brace each for attackers Laura Brame and Gemma Carter securing the 3 points in a 4-0 win still mathematically in with a shout at title 3 points behind leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development with one game left to play a point from their remaining two games enough for Ipswich Town to be crowned Champions.

A big win at home for 4th placed East Bergholt United Ladies against bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies sees them close to within a point of 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies with a game extra to play. Jessica Oxlade scoring a hat-trick in the game, both Jodie Sharp and Cameron Hogg firing in a brace a piece along with a goal each for Cara Savage, Pippa King and Georgina Longden in a 10-0 win.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 2nd April

3 games in the Suffolk Women’s Division and Ipswich Town Ladies new Development side are on the threshold of clinching the league title at the 1st attempt 2 matches left to play 6 points clear of 2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies a point is all they require now from those final 2 games. Made it 12 games unbeaten in the league with a comfortable away win on Sunday against bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. 3 players scoring a brace in the match, Sian Cottrell, Jennifer Purbrook and Emily Steward. A goal each too for Sophie Leming and Jennifer Gray the final score 8-0. A league and cup double very much on with the League Cup Final coming up next on Weds 13th April at Hadleigh FC a 7:30pm kick-off.

 2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies are keeping up the pressure on leaders Ipswich Town won at the weekend but were pushed all the way by by opponents Bacton United Ladies eventually edging the result by the odd goal in 9! Away from home Walsham Le Willows held a 3-1 lead at half-time. Bacton United scoring 3 more goals in the 2nd half, not enough as Walsham Le Willows hit the back of their opponents net twice more to win 5-4. A brace from Lois Balfour along with a goal each for Lauren Jacobs and Maria Walker for Bacton United. Laura Brame and Kirsty Pollard with a goal each for Walsham Le Willows with Gemma Carter scoring a hat-trick.

Also a win at home on Sunday for 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies , playing Copleston Ladies won the match 4-1 with Kirsten Hutchings scoring all 4 of their goals. Copleston short on numbers ending the game with 9 on the pitch Sophie crane scoring their goal.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 26th March

  Two league matches played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday neither featuring any of the top 3 sides. 4th placed East Bergholt United missed out on the opportunity to climb above Brantham Athletic Ladies into 3rd spot after they were beaten away from home by 5th placed Bacton United Ladies. Cara Savage scored for the visitors in the 2nd half, Bacton United winning the game 3-1.

Elysia Young scored a brace for Copleston Ladies at home to bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies on Sunday, there were also goals for Sophie Crane, Roxanne Middle, Jemma Wessels and Hollie Akers in a 6-0 victory.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 19th March

3 games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday with league leaders Ipswich Town Ladies extending their unbeaten run at the top of the table to 11 games were away at the weekend playing Copleston Ladies. A battling performance from the home side Ipswich Town scoring twice in the game to take the 3 points with a 2-0 win, Sian Cottrell opening the scoring with her 13th of the season. Jennifer Purbrook with her 3rd of the season making it 2-0 to see Ipswich Town keep their 6 point lead at the top with 3 league games left to play.

Moving 3 points clear in 2nd spot in the Suffolk Women’s Division table are Walsham Le Willows Ladies after they recorded a comfortable win at home against bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies on Sunday a 5 week lay-off since their last league match Ipswich Phoenix soon found themselves on the back foot Walsham Le Willows eventually racking up a double figure score to win the match Emma Boreham top scoring with 4 goals in the game. Gemma Carter hit a hat-trick. Lisa Pratt also scoring a brace in the game with a goal each for Claire Ellis and Kirsty Pollard final score 11-0.

  3 points on the road in the other game in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday with Bacton United Ladies 5th in the table beating 7th placed Leiston St Margarets Ladies 2-0, Rachel Linsdell and Francesca Rainbird scoring the goals.

Suffolk Women’s Division 

3 matches played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday and with leaders Ipswich Town Ladies not in action it was a chance for 2nd and 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies and Walsham Le Willows Ladies to try and close the gap at the top. On 22 points a win for 2nd placed Brantham away to Walsham Le Willows would put them 3 points behind the leaders. Walsham Le Willows were 3 points further back would return to 2nd with a win on home soil. Goals for Julie Brind and Gemma Carter seeing Walsham Le Willows win the game narrowly 2-1 to go back above Brantham. Lucy Dunnett with the goal for the visitors.

A big win at home for 4th placed East Bergholt United on Sunday as they hosted Leiston St Margaret Ladies. Jodie Sharp scoring 4 goals in the match with a dominant 1st half display from East Bergholt to lead 6-0 before going to add a 7th goal in the 2nd half. Their other goals scored by Jessica Clark, Annabel Tricker and Jessica Oxlade the win moving them to within a point of both Brantham and Walsham Le Willows.

A 2nd half goal by Francesca Rainbird was enough to see Bacton United Ladies win all the points at home in the other game in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday taking on Copleston Ladies.

Suffolk Women’s League Cup

 League Cup semi-final weekend in Suffolk and it will be Bacton United Ladies and Ipswich Town Ladies Development who will contest the final with both winning at home on Sunday.

Bacton United Ladies were taking on East Bergholt United Ladies looking to reach their 1st ever league cup final. The sides going in 0-0 at half-time Bacton United went on to score 2 goals in the 2nd half to see them make history and reach the final.

 In the other league cup semi-final Suffolk Women’s Division leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development were hosting 2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies both in their 1st season looking to make it into a final. Ipswich Town held a narrow 1-0 lead at half-time before going on to score 3 more 2nd half, Walsham Le Willows grabbing a consolation goal in a 4-1 win to see Ipswich Town Ladies Development reach their 1st ever final. $ different goalscorers with, Sian Cottrell, Emily Steward, Catherine Upton and Eva Hubbard all on target putting the ball into the back of the net.

  The date and venue for the Suffolk Women’s League Cup final has yet to be announced.

Suffolk Women’s Division

One game in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday and with Walsham Le Willows Ladies involved in the League Cup, 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies too full advantage winning at home against Leiston St Margarets Ladies to take then above them into 2nd 3 points clear. A brace for Danielle Harvey with a goal each for Rebecca Prime, Lucy Dunnett and Jessica Ryan in a 5-0 win.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 12th February

  Two matches played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday and a big win at home for league leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development against one of the sides attempting to chase them down at the top of the table as the extended their unbeaten run to 10 games in league. Were at home hosting 3rd placed side Brantham Athletic Ladies, the visitors taking an early lead with Kirsten Hutchings through on goal in the 2nd minute to score. Ipswich came back into the match Emily Steward levelling the score before going on to score a penalty to see them lead 2-1. A penalty for Brantham saw them pull it back to 2-2 Lucy Dunnett with the spot kick. Sophie Leming restoring the lead for Ipswich before the break. Half-time 3-2 to Ipswich, Leming went on to score twice more in the 2nd half to complete her hat-trick and see the 3 points secured with a 5-2 win. The leaders moving 9 points clear at the top of the Suffolk Women’s Division.

  At the other end of the table Copleston Ladies had suffered the heart ache of a heavy 8-0 defeat on the opening day of the season, this Sunday they got to feel the opposite as they recorded an 8-0 win away to bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies to record their 2nd league win of the season. Sophie Crane getting herself a hat-trick. Jemma Wessels scoring a brace for Copleston too with a goal each for Shannon Giles, Freya Louis and Elysia Young.
