Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 5th February

  It was a full programme of fixtures in the Suffolk Women’s Division this weekend with no games falling foul of the weather. All 8 sides in action it was top half versus bottom half and the top half came out very much on top! League leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development made it 9 games unbeaten with a 4-0 win at home to 5th placed Bacton United Ladies. Sian Cottrell scoring a brace to take her into double figure for the season along side Emily Steward who also scored in the match, with Deborah Greaves also on target scoring her 1st goal for Ipswich.

2nd placed Walsham Le Willow Ladies won comfortably at home against 6th placed Leiston St Margarets Ladies on Sunday scoring 8 goals without reply moving them onto 49 goals scored in 9 matches played so far this season. 6 points back from leaders Ipswich their is a fierce battle developing below in 3rd spot Brantham Athletic Ladies continue to keep pace with Walsham Le Willows with 19 points from 9 played winning at home on Sunday against Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Kirsten Hutchings (pictured) scoring a hat-trick in the match along with a goal each for Heather Andrews, Lauren Page and Rebecca Prime in a 6-0 victory.

Was also a big win away from home for 4th placed East Bergholt United Ladies who are just a point behind Walsham Le Willows and Brantham Athletic having also played 9 games. Were playing Copleston Ladies. Both Jessica Clark and Jessica Oxlade hit a brace in the match with a goal a piece for Jodie Sharp and Cara Savage, an own goal too seeing the visitors win 7-0. Will be interesting to see if anyone from the chasing pack can challenge Ipswich Town Ladies Development’s unbeaten record in the next few months.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 29th January

Just the 2 matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday, two big games however featuring the sides in the top 4 places, both close looking contests on paper they yielded just the 1 goal between them.

 It was a top of the table clash at the Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich as leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development took on Walsham Le Willows 6 points back in 2nd, the visitors unable to close the gap as both sides fought out a goalless draw the 1st points Ipswich Town have dropped this season in the Suffolk Women’s Division remain undefeated at the top of the league.

 In the other game it was 3rd versus 4th with East Bergholt United hosting Brantham Athletic Ladies. A small measure of revenge for Brantham after they were knocked out of the league cup last weekend by East Bergholt they took the 3 points home with them this Sunday to climb above them into 3rd spot go level on points with Walsham Le Willows in 2nd the only goal of the game scored by striker Danielle Harvey in the 1st half.

Suffolk Women’s Division- Sunday 8th January

Three matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division to start 2017 with league leaders, Ipswich Town Ladies new Development side beginning the year as they ended the last extending their 100% record to 7 games with a big away win against 2nd bottom side Leiston St Margarets Ladies. Sian Cottrell top scoring in the game on Sunday grabbing 4 goals. Grace Bowman also netting a hat-trick in the game. Emily Steward scored twice with a goal a piece for Jennifer Gray, Sophie Leming and Elin Davies in a 12-0 win.

A big result at home for East Bergholt United Ladies on Sunday, starting the year by hosting 2nd placed, Walsham Le Willows Ladies. Beginning the day in 4th spot 3 points behind their opponents East Bergholt United move above 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies who weren’t in action to join Walsham Le Willows on 15 points courtesy of a 4-0 win. 4 different goal scorers for East Bergholt United in the match with Jessica Clarke, Georgina Longden, Jessica Oxlade and Jodie Sharp all finding the back of the net.

  In the other match being played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday, Copleston Ladies where at home playing Bacton United Ladies. The two sides sharing the points with a 1-1 draw. Lois Balfour scoring for Bacton United Ladies. Elysia Young with a free-kick scoring for Copleston Ladies.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 18th December

Two matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division to end the year, with the top 2 not in action it was an opportunity for 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies to close the gap on the leaders playing away against Bacton United Ladies. The home side held the advantage at half-time with the score 2-1 Lois Balfour netting a brace. Brantham Athletic got themselves back on level terms to draw the game 2-2 both sides taking a point from the match, Lucy Dunnett and Jessica Ryan scoring the goals for Brantham Athletic.

Elsewhere it was a clash between the bottom two with Leiston St Margarets Ladies hosting Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. The home side moving up a place above Copleston Ladies with a 5-0 win to take the 3 points, Thalia Cloke, Sarah Cooper, Jessica Coxage and Lucy Moran amongst the goals for Leiston St Margarets winning their 2nd league game of the season to end the year on a high.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 11th December

Two matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division with a big match at the top of the table with 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies hosting Walsham Le Willows Ladies in 2nd spot both on 12 points from 5 matches played looking to win and close the 6 point gap Ipswich Town Ladies Development have opened up at the top of the table. In the end it was a big win for Walsham Le Willows inflicting a heavy defeat on Brantham Athletic winning the game 7-0 to take all 3 points.

 That result coupled with a home win on Sunday for East Bergholt United Ladies sees the 4th placed side move level on 12 points with Brantham Athletic in 3rd both having played 6 matches. Were playing Copleston Ladies who got their 1st 3 points on the board last time out. East Bergholt United winning the game 4-1 with goals from, Amber Brogan, Emily Lambert, Jessica Quinsee and Jodie Sharp. Jemma Wessels with the goal for Copleston.

 2 matches in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday and leaders Ipswich Town Ladies Development go 6 point clear at the top of the table with a crushing home win against bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. 6 wins out of 6 now for the side formed during the summer. A hat-trick each for Grace Bowman and Emily Steward. Jessica Monk netting a brace with a goal each for Taylor Cooke, Sian Cottrell, Destiny Minors and Jennifer Purbrook in a 13-0 win.

  There was a hat-trick scored too in the other match from the Suffolk Women’s Division One Sunday with Jessica Oxlade on target 3 times for East Bergholt United away to Leiston St Margarets Ladies. Went on to win the game 4-1, Jodie Sharp scoring the other East Bergholt United goal to move them onto 9 points in 4th spot in the league. Jessica Coxage scoring the goal for Leiston St Margarets.

Suffolk Women’s County Cup

  Two quarter final ties to be decided in the Suffolk Women’s County Cup this Sunday. Lowestoft Town Ladies game postponed due to them being involved in FA Women’s Cup action last Sunday eventually going out to fellow FAWPL South East Division One side, Norwich City Ladies. Were to play extra-time for the 2nd cup game in a row this Sunday, Norfolk Division One side Bungay Town Ladies the visitors to Crown Meadow the result tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes, Lowestoft Town’s fitness telling in the extra half hour as they went on to win the game 4-2 will now played Suffolk Women’s Division side Bacton United Ladies in the semi-finals. Gemma Moore with 2 goals for Lowestoft with captain Hannah Waters and Aimee Durrant also scoring.

  In the other quarter final tie to be played Suffolk Women’s Division leaders, Walsham Le Willows Ladies were at home playing ERWFL Division One side, Ipswich Wanderers Ladies the visitors setting up a show down in the semi-finals with holders Ipswich Town Laides winning the game 3-0 with 2 goals from Tarnya McKew and a goal for Michelle Taylor-Allum.

Two games in the Suffolk Women’s Division on Sunday and with Walsham Le Willows in County Cup action 2nd placed Ipswich Town Ladies Development level on points with Walsham Le Willows, moved 3 points clear at the top winning away from home against East Bergholt United. Their goalscorers, Florence Cage, Sian Cottrell, Jennifer Purbrook and Emily Steward seeing them win the match 4-1. Jessica Oxlade on target for East Bergholt United.

 Remember Copleston Ladies? they were finally back in league action on Sunday playing just their 3rd league game of the season! Having previously lost their opening 2 matches got themselves a much needed win at the weekend and their 1st points on the board where at home playing Leiston St Margarets Ladies, scoring 2 goals in each half to win the game 4-0. Jemma Wessels netting a brace with Sophie Crane and Elysia Young also grabbing a goal each.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 13th November

3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies join Ipswich Town Ladies Development and leaders Walsham Le Willows Ladies on 12 points at the top of the table winning away from home at the weekend taking advantage of both not playing. Taking on Leiston St Margarets Ladies, Kirsten Hutchings scored a hat-trick with Danielle Harvey also putting the ball into the back of the net as Brantham won the match 4-2. Sarah Cooper and Jessica Coxage scoring the goal for Leiston St Margarets.

 East Bergholt United move up a place into 4th in the table moving onto 6 points with 2 games in hand on both Brantham Athletic Ladies and Ipswich Town Ladies Development. Away from home too at the weekend were playing bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Jessica Oxlade and Jodie Sharp both scoring 2 goals each with Jessica Clark also getting her name on the scoresheet in a 5-0 win.

Suffolk Women’s Division

Starting the Suffolk Round-Up this week with the sad news that another women’s football side has folded this weekend, the forth to be lost in a fortnight, Witnesham Wasps Ladies who reached the Women’s League Cup final last season withdrawing from the league. Struggling to fulfil fixtures short of players it is a blow to see another side fold and wish the players and coaches all the best hope they continue in the game in the future.

That sees adjustment to a league table that is now down to 8 sides. Ipswich Town Ladies Development side beating Witnesham Wasps 3-0 on the opening day of the season see that result chalked off they were away to 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies on Sunday, both sides with a 100% winning start to the season something had to give. A goal scored in each half saw Ipswich Town win the 3 points to make it 4 wins from 4 beating Brantham Athletic 2-0, Taylor Cook and Sian Cottrell with the goals.

 In the other game in the weekend in the Suffolk Women’s Division Bacton United Ladies move up from 5th place to 4th with a home win in a high scoring match against Leiston St Margarets Ladies. The visitors finding the back of the net 3 times courtesy of a hat-trick from Lucy Eagle. It wasn’t to be enough to take anything from the game as Bacton United Ladies went on to score 5 goals, both Ria Delves and Maria Walker scoring a brace with Francesca Rainbird also on target in a 5-3 win.

Three league games in the Suffolk Women’s Division this weekend and it was an away win for the three sides emerging as the early pace-setters in the league. Walsham Le Willows Ladies remain top of the table on goal difference winning for the 4th time this season away to Leiston St Margarets Ladies. Scoring 8 goals without reply to take the 3 point with a comfortable win.

It was a comfortable away victory too for 2nd placed Ipswich Town Ladies Development. Were on the road taking on Bacton United Ladies. Maintained their 100% winning start to the league 4 wins out of 4 now. Sian Cottrell and Emily Steward both scoring 2 goals each. Grace Bowman, Taylor Cooke and Elin Davies also on target with a goal each in a 7-0 win.

   3 points back on the leading pair of Walsham Le Willows and Ipswich Town are, Brantham Athletic Ladies as they also continued their 100% winning start to the season making in 3 wins from 3 away to Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Leading 4-0 at half-time went on to score 3 more 2nd half to also win 7-0. An own goal plus 6 different goal scorers for Brantham Athletic, Shanice Leeks, Charlotte Partridge, Merlin Watson, Lauren Page, Heather Andrews and Danielle Harvey all with a goal to their name.
