Suffolk Women’s Division

East Bergholt United Ladies have done it completed the Double, League and Cup Winners in the Suffolk Women’s Division and going the entire season unbeaten along the way. 

Knew a point in their final league game of the season at home to Walsham Le Willows Ladies would be enough after their title rivals lost in midweek beaten at home by Leiston St Margarets who themselves playing their last game of the season have had a solid campaign securing a mid-table finish. 4th placed Walsham Le Willows no longer able to catch East Bergholt, 2nd placed Bacton United Ladies could pose a threat to the title if they didn’t get the job done at home themselves. Annie Northwood giving East Bergholt a 1-0 half-time lead a brace from Cara Savage setting up the celebrations in the 2nd half as East Bergholt won the game 3-1 to become Champions. A successful season for East Bergholt who have brought several young players up through their side and will continue to do so.

 Congratulations to East Bergholt United Ladies on completing the League and Cup double this season.

 Congratulations too, to Bacton United Ladies who have secured runners-up spot with a huge win in their final game of the season away to Ipswich Athletic Ladies. Lois Balfour netting 5 goals in the game. Rebecca White and Francesca Rainbird with a brace each, Courtney Hutchinson on the scoresheet too in a 10-0.

The outcome of an abandoned game to be decided, but it’s all over in Suffolk for another season.

Norfolk Women’s Division One

The race for the title is back on after leaders Bungay Town Ladies playing their final league game of the season at home to Gorleston FC Ladies, missed out on the win that would have made the title almost certain after they only secured a draw. Goals from Sophie Gillett and Nicole Sheldrake securing a 2-2 draw for Gorleston in their final game of the campaign currently 4th and certain to secure a mid-table finish following promotion last season. A point for Bungay a blow leaving them just 4 points clear of second placed Sprowston Ladies who had 2 games in hand.

 Bungay’s hopes of clinching a double out of their hands no on to Sprowston who themselves have an opportunity to complete a double. Two tough games to play however both away starting this Sunday against 3rd placed Thorpe United Ladies. The sides drawing 0-0 at half-time a brace from top scorer Victoria Leyer taking her onto 23 for the season securing a 2-0 win for Sprowston and moves them to within a point of Bungay. A win away to Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves this coming Sunday will see them take the title.

   Also in Norfolk Women’s Division One this Sunday North Walsham Angels Ladies were playing their penultimate game of the season away to bottom side Long Stratton Ladies who were bringing the curtain down on what has been a difficult season. Sadly without a point, despite Emily Watts getting on the scoresheet a brace from Hope Middleton along with goals each for Luci Middleton, Rachel Bussey, Mary-Anne Hoy and Abbie Storey seeing North Walsham win the game 6-1. Finish their season away to Fakenham Town Ladies this coming Sunday.

FAWPL Southern Division 

Charlton Athletic Women are the FAWPL Southern Division Champion’s. Retaking the lead with games in hand still on their rivals went into Sunday’s game knowing a win would ensure them the league title with 2 games to spare. Were away to 3rd placed Crystal Palace Ladies who secure runners-up spot themselves if they could win their final game of the season. 

  Charlton got off to a fantastic start in the game getting into the lead within the opening 10 minutes, Kit Graham finding the back of the net. Charlton created further chances to extend the lead in the 1st half but didn’t take any held a narrow lead going into the break. Just 2 minutes into the 2nd half Charlton doubled their advantage Graham again then just 4 minutes later she completed her hat-trick to move her onto 199 goals for Charlton and put the visitors in control of the game. Closing in on the hour Graham scored a 4th goal for Charlton bringing up her 200th for Charlton from 207 appearance a fantastic achievement massive congratulations to Kit Graham now on 42 for the season. The goals ensuring Charlton got the win that saw them become Champion’s.

  Defeat for Crystal Palace in their final game of the season sees them finish 3rd in the table building on 5th in what was their debut season at this level last year. Blackburn Rovers Ladies have secured the FAWPL Northern Division title and will face Charlton in the FAWPL Play-off game held this year at Sheffield United FC’s Bramall Lane on Sun 27th May.

That result coupled with a win for win for C&K Basildon Ladies in their final match of the season away to Chichester City Ladies ensured they ended their remarkable season with a 2nd placed finish in the FAWPL Southern Division table. The Essex side making everyone nervous in the process however as they eventual found a winning goal with 5 minutes of the season left! Captain Zoe Rushen getting the telling touch inside the penalty box to get the crucial goal and see C&K Basildon secure runners-up spot.

  A point from their final game of the season will ensure Lewes FC Women finish in 4th place in the FAWPL Southern Division, that is of course if Coventry United Ladies can claim maximum points in their remaining games in hand. A fantastic season for Lewes real progress made on the pitch this season. Playing the final home game of the season against Cardiff City Ladies the sides looked to be heading in goalless at the break until Danielle Lane got the ball over the line  for Lewes in the final 5 minutes. 10 minutes into the 2nd half a goal from Rachel Carter made it 2-0 to Lewes. Lane adding her 2nd of the game to make it 3-0 5 minutes later. 3-0 up Lewes’ Georgia Bridges added their 4th goal in the closing stages of the game. Lewes are away to West Ham United Ladies for their final game of the season this coming Sunday. Cardiff City ending their season in 10th spot a difficult campaign but results elsewhere mean they can not be caught.

Portsmouth FC Ladies finished their season at home to Queens Park Rangers Ladies on Sunday. An opportunity for the club to play at Fratton Park in their final match and put on a show for their fans. Charley Boswell firing Portsmouth into the lead midway through the 1st half two quickfire goals from Samantha Quayle and Daisy McLachlan in the 38th & 39th minute putting Portsmouth into a strong 3-0 half-time lead.

 In the 70th minute Portsmouth were awarded a penalty Rachel Panting stepping up to take and scored to make it 4-0. Quayle adding her 2nd of the game in the final 10 minutes, Another penalty awarded to Portsmouth this time the taker Emma-Jane May her shot going in for her first Portsmouth goal. QPR grabbing a late consolation with Chontele Lawrence on target. A 6-1 win for Portsmouth to end the season a pretty good campaign overall and certainly a great platform to build on from next season. QPR will finish 2nd bottom despite having 2 games left to play. Will have to see how the league structure is changed around over the close season to see if it’s enough to stay up.

Coventry United Ladies are in the midst of a hectic schedule as they look to get in all their fixtures before the end of the season in action on Tuesday were at home again on Sunday taking on Gillingham FC Ladies. Stephanie Smith putting Coventry into an early lead. Jade Formaston and Lois Jefferies also with goals in the 1st half to see Coventry into a 3-0 half-time lead. Keeley Davies extending Coventry’s lead further in the 2nd half Marie Gauntlett wrapping up a 5-0 win in the final 5 minutes. Back at it a home again this Tuesday, Coventry taking in bottom side Swindon Town Ladies playing their final game of the season. Another league game on Thursday too at home to Queens Park Rangers as they look to get the season wrapped up by the 20th May. 2 points behind Portsmouth.

FAWPL South East Division One

New leaders in FAWPL South East Division One as Milton Keynes Dons Ladies move into top spot ahead of AFC Wimbledon Ladies on goal difference with a big win at home to bottom side Haringey Borough Women on Sunday. A busy end to the season for Milton Keynes Dons picking up the 3 points with a 2-0 win away to Actonians Ladies in midweek. 

  5-0 up against Haringey at half-time, a brace from Leah Cudone along with goals for Laura Mills, Dawn Mallett and Kim Farrow. Milton Keynes adding even more goals in the 2nd half both Louise Naylor and Heather McDonnell scoring a hat-trick each a brace too for captain Leanna Doyle. Alice Hughes, Zoe Boote and Anna Loftus also on the scoresheet in a 16-1 win. Julia Carruthers with the consolation goal for Haringey. Milton Keynes Dons with a game in hand over Wimbledon coming up this Wednesday at the Stadium MK up against Stevenage Ladies a win will see them needing just a point to win the league title in their final game of the season on Sunday away to Haringey.

Ipswich Town Ladies have already secured a 3rd placed finish in FAWPL South East Division One were away to 5th placed Luton Town Ladies on Sunday. A goalless 1st period between the sides it was Ipswich who broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Natasha Thomas on target with her 30th goal of the season to make it 1-0. Miagh Downey doubling the visitors lead with 12 minutes left on the clock. Ipswich going on to win the 3 points despite Luton pulling it back to 2-1 in the closing stages with a goal from Jess McKay.

   That result for Luton ensures a top fur finish for Leyton Orient WFC in their debut season playing at this level. They were at home on Sunday playing Stevenage Ladies. Rebecca Scola giving Stevenage the lead in the game late in the first half. Leyton Orient coming back to level the scores and go on to take the lead Sarka Stryhalova and Hannah Porter getting the goals. A chance to extend the lead further too from the penalty spot the chance missed the ball put over the bar. Stevenage getting a penalty up the other end and Amy Makewell making no mistake to level it up at 2-2 and see the points shared.

Norwich City Ladies were hosting Cambridge United WFC on Sunday both playing their penultimate game of the season. Norwich improving under new manager Grant Palmer took the lead in the game in the 20th minute Chelsea Garrett with the goal. The lead doubled on the half hour Aimee Durrant getting the ball into the back of the net. Conceding a penalty right on the stroke of half-time Cambridge reduced the deficit to 2-1 with Amy Howell sending the ball home. Cambridge getting it back to 2-2 midway through the 2nd half substitute Mollie Coupar with her first touch of the game scoring her first goal for the 1st team. Norwich having lost their 2-0 lead kept going to the end and retook the lead with just 2 minutes left on the clock Garrett with her 2nd of the match to see Norwich get the 3-2 win.

Sunday 6th & Monday 7th May

Suffolk Women’s County Cup

A 12:00pm on Bank Holiday Monday at Colchester United FC saw Ipswich Town Ladies taking on AFC Sudbury Ladies in this season’s Suffolk Women’s County Cup Final. 3 successive wins for Ipswich Town Ladies they were looking to make it 4 in row on a very hot Bank Holiday.

 It was ERWFL Premier Division side AFC Sudbury who took the lead Sophie Jeffery scoring direct from a corner in the 18th minute. Ipswich Town  were level just a minute later Natasha Thomas making it 1-1. Ipswich came close to taking the lead striking the cross bar twice before captain Amanda Crump did score in the 35th minute to make it 2-1 the bar struck for a 3rd time Ipswich Town holding the narrow advantage at half-time.

  10 minutes into the 2nd half Sophie Welton found the back of the net to make it 3-1 to Ipswich Town. Defender Lindsey Cooper heading home Ipswich Town’s 4th goal on the hour. Thomas with her 2nd of the game making it 5-1 five minutes later. Ipswich going on to seal the win and make it 4 in a row.

Suffolk Women’s Division

One game played in the Suffolk Women’s Division, Brantham Athletic Ladies playing their final game of the season away to Leiston St Margarets. A chance to pull level with leaders East Bergholt United Ladies who have a game left to play, Brantham had just the 10 players available but a battling performance saw them share the points with Leiston St Margarets in a 1-1 taking Brantham 2nd. Bacton United Ladies 3rd & Walsham Le Willows in 4th can catch them with their remaining fixtures. Michelle Stanborough the scorer for Leiston St Margarets.

  Most sides have 1 game left to play Walsham Le Willows Ladies have three one of which is against East Bergholt United Ladies.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

 Into the last month of the season in Essex and their is a new leader at the top of the Women’s Premier Division. Lawford Ladies taking advantage of Hatfield Peverel Ladies postponed fixture to move to the summit of the table and they did so by becoming the first side to beat Corringham Cosmos in the league this season. A warm up for this coming Sunday’s League Cup Final, Corringham Cosmos were the hosts scored two goals Chloe Sams getting both. Lawford’s captain Daisy Canny scoring a hat-trick however with Jasmine Cox and Tyler Christou also on target saw Lawford clinch a 5-2 victory.

  2-2 between Harlow Town Ladies Reserves and Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies last Sunday it was a repeat of the scoreline in the reverse fixture this Sunday. Charlotte Bolton scoring for Harlow, Marie Hall and Jo Smeaton getting the Beacon Hill Rovers goals.

Essex Women’s Division One

 There are still several league games left in Essex Women’s Division One and we are no closer to figuring out who might end up topping the table. A defeat of league leaders last time out Southend United Ladies returned to winning ways this Sunday.. just edging out Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies in a 7 goal thriller getting the 3 points with a 4-3 win.

 2nd placed Leigh Ramblers keep up the pressure on the leaders remain 3 points behind with a game in hand after they were victorious away to Billericay Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Abbi Brown, Amber Denton, Molly Giles, Katherine Newton & Paige White all on target with a goal in a 5-0 result.

   Isabelle Wallings takes her goals tally to 42 from 18 played after another hat-trick for Rayleigh Town Ladies on Sunday the 6th placed side at home to Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves. Amy Smith and Eleasha Reeves also getting a goal each in a 5-1 win. Gaby Freedman with the goal for Chelmsford.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

  In last league matches played in the Beds & Herts Women’s Leagues this Sunday. One game left in Division Two. Runners-up spot already secured for Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires in their 1st season under their new name the club growing next season. At home in their final game taking on Evergreen Eagles. April Spang and Katherine Calvert getting a brace each with a goal each for Georgina Harvey and top scorer Chemise Huitson finishing up with 24 goals in a 6-0 final day win. 

Bed & Herts Women’s Division Three

  Two games to wrap up the league season in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three. Welwyn Pegasus Azures also in their debut season securing 3rd position with a home win over Bedwell Rangers on Sunday. Holly Walker scoring a hat-trick for Bedwell Rangers. Janiece Allen way out in front in the scoring charts for Welwyn Pegasus Azures moving onto 36 goals from 17 games for the season as she scored a double hat-trick Welwyn Pegasus Azures winning the game 7-3.

 Those goals were needed too as Evergreen Ladies with a strong finish to the season finish on the same points pushed into 4th on goal difference. Rebecca Freeman netting a hat-trick in their final league fixture away to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets, with Samantha Jackson also on target with a goal in a 4-1 win.

  Two Finals to complete the season at Kempson Rovers FC the League Cup Final at 3:00pm contested between St Albans Ladies & Northwood Ladies proceeded by The Chris Renshaw Cup Final at 11:00am between Sherrardswood Ladies & Letchworth Garden City Eagles.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

No games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday but that was good news for St Ives Town Ladies as they become the league champions awarded the 3 points to move 8 points clear at the top of the table meaning they cannot be caught by 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies who have two left to play. St Ives Town Ladies play their final match of the season this Wednesday 9th May at St Ives Town FC’s ProEdge Stadium a 6:45pm kick-off against Newmarket Town Ladies who also were awarded a home win at the weekend have secured runners-up spot.

 Congratulations to St Ives Town Ladies on becoming Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership Champions.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North a hone win awarded to Wisbech Town Ladies see’s them close the gap to league leaders Ketton Ladies to just 3 points with one more game left to play. Are level on goal difference too with Ketton who have played out their fixtures. 

The other side involved in the title race are 3rd placed Riverside Ladies recovering from defeat against Ketton their 1st in the league they bounced back with an away win against 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies this Sunday. Samantha Woodham netting a hat-trick. Jess Hill and Lianna Bell also on target with a goal each in a 5-1 win. Have 4 games left to play 6 points to close on Ketton Ladies. A big game coming up tonight as they meet Wisbech Town Ladies at home a 6:30 kick-off for this one.

A historic result for Orton Rangers Ladies as they win for the 1st time this season in the Championship North and it was a big win too at home to the side immediately above them Pinchbeck United Ladies. 10-2 the final score the result taking Orton Rangers off the foot of the table.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves pick up 6 points in 3 days to climb above St Ives Town Development into 3rd spot in Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South. Starting on Sunday were away to bottom side Burwell Tigers Ladies. A Hat-trick from Dominika Szary, Laura Bailey netting a brace and a goal for Abbi Griffin seeing Newmarket Town to a 6-0 win. 

  Played again on Tuesday evening at home against Isleham United Ladies playing their final league game of the season another high scoring game between the sides. Sarah O’Rourke scoring a hat-trick for Newmarket Town along with a brace for Hollie Turner saw the hosts to a 5-3 victory the result securing 3rd place for Newmarket Town. One more game for Isleham United Ladies to come a big one to a Cup Final on Weds 16th May at Newmarket Town FC playing ICA Sports Ladies in the Junior Invitation Cup.

  The battle for the title in the Championship South will go all the way leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds seeing there lead at the top cut to just 3 points as 2nd placed Histon Ladies Reserves having beaten them last week in the Division One Cup Final secured a 2-0 away win to St Ives Town Ladies Development on Sunday. Philippa Hayden-Evans and Lauren Threadgold both on target in 2-0 win. Could all come down to goal difference and right now Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds hold the advantage with their final game at home to Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves scheduled for Tuesday 15th May.

ERWFL Premier Division

It’s all over in the ERWFL Premier Division the final league games (or game) played this Sunday). Billericay Town Ladies are the Premier Division Champions finishing top of the table as rivals Acle United Ladies lost in midweek the Cambridge City Ladies who secure runners up spot in their 1st season in the league. Promotion to the newly named National League for Billericay Town Ladies are a couple of runners up finishes in recent seasons.

  The action in midweek determining the course of the title race Billericay Town had lost their final game away to Royston Town Ladies the week before giving hope to Acle United who had a six point gap to close with 2 games left to play. A busy spell their 3rd game in 6 days saw them travelling to Huntingdon Town FC to play 2nd placed Cambridge City Ladies who knew a win themselves would secure runners-up spot in their 1st season in the Premier Division. A tight first half the dead lock broken late on with Acle United captain Megan Todd putting the visitors into a 1-0 lead. 

  The drama unfolded in the final 10 minutes the game turned on it’s head Bronte Rapley levelling the scores for Cambridge City, a clash in midfield leading to 3 sending’s off for Acle united, Ciara Flatt show a red card for the 2nd time in 2 matches, following her to the dressing room were Amber Rowland with a 2nd yellow and Kate Pasque also shown a straight red. To compound it the 8 players of Acle United conceded late on Ellie Cullum netting the winner for Cambridge City Ladies that sees them finish just a point behind Champions Billericay Town Ladies.

 Congratulations to Billericay Town Ladies on becoming ERWFL Premier Division Champion’s and to Cambridge City Ladies on finishing 2nd.

  Acle United licking their wounds have to regroup and get ready for one last game this season the ERWFL League Cup Final on Sunday 13th May at The County Ground Letchworth. Up against AFC Dunstable Ladies the two were scheduled to meet in their final league game of the season at Acle United this Sunday, AFC Dunstable unable to field a team the points going to Acle United.

 In the last league game played in the ERWFL Premier Division this season, Royston Town Ladies could have clinched a top four finish had they secured a win away to Brentwood Town Ladies.  The hosts took the lead in the match, Sammy Tinsley levelling it up at 1-1 for Royston Town before half-time. Brentwood getting the better of the 2nd half scoring 3 more goals, Becky Shephard getting on the scoresheet for Royston Tow they fell to a 4-2 defeat. A good run of results at the end of the season however build on that next season and they will be challenging at the top of the table. A win to end the season for Brentwood Town, Leah Cowan making her return from injury scoring another goal. Georgia Holdaway, Kirstie Jackson and Chloe Wilkinson also on the scoresheet.

ERWFL Division One North

One more game left to play in ERWFL Division One North everything settled, King’s Lynn Town Ladies finishing runners-up in their debut season in the ERWFL away to 3rd placed Histon Ladies. A single goal seeing King’s Lynn Town end the season with a victory. Georgia Reardon the player to find the back of the net at the Glassworld Stadium.

ERWFL Division One South

Almost over in the ERWFL Division One South too one more game between Hertford Town Ladies & Hutton Ladies to come on the 20th May. This weekend saw a pair of double headers played. New League Champion’s Stevenage Ladies Reserves hosting 3rd placed Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies. Stevenage winning one game by a single goal Daniela Martucci scoring the winning goal. Martucci netting a double in the 2nd match with Emily Schofield and Mary Lisle also on target in a 4-1 win.

 Charlotte Stephens scoring for Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies who were playing their last ever game under that name this Sunday. Fear not however as they aren’t going anywhere as from next season they will be known as Bowers & Pitsea Ladies having set up a good relationship with the club and using their ground for their home matches this past season. 

  In the other double header 4th placed Hutton Ladies were hosting bottom side Bishops Stortford. Hutton Ladies winning both games 4-0 to claim all 6 points.

  Hutton Ladies are in Final action too next Sunday in the ERWFL Plate Final defending the trophy they won last season up against Stevenage Ladies Reserves who are looking for a league & cup double. Again at The County Ground Letchworth an 11am kick off for this one.

FAWPL Southern Division

Charlton Athletic Women returned to the top of the FAWPL Southern Division with a comfortable midweek away win to Chichester City Ladies. Charley Clifford hitting a brace there were goals too for Nicole Pepper, Charlotte Gurr, Georgia Griffin and Kit Graham in a 6-0 result. The London in Cup Final action this Sunday up against 3rd placed Crystal Palace Ladies in the Capital Women’s Cup. 

There rivals for the league title in Cup action this Sunday it was an opportunity for 2nd placed C&K Basildon Ladies to return to the top of the FAWPL Southern Division table as they travelled down to the South Coast to play 5th placed Portsmouth FC Ladies. both sides hitting the woodwork early on in the game it was Portsmouth who would open the scoring awarded a penalty in the 15th minute. Daisy McLachlan stepping up to take putting the ball home for 1-0. Late in the 1st half McLachlan was on target with her 2nd of the game to see Portsmouth leading 2-0 at the break. 

  C&K Basildon came out strong in the 2nd half Angela Addison pulling it back to 2-1 with 53 minutes played and 2 minutes later had the chance the level from the penalty spot the post struck the follow up put over the bar. Portsmouth going on to win the game 2-1 and put a large dent in C&K Basildon’s title hopes, the Essex side with one game left to play now away to Chichester City this coming Sunday. 2 points behind Charlton Athletic Women who have 3 left to play.

Lewes FC Women are looking strong for a 4th placed finish in the FAWPL Southern Division as they won their 13th league game of the season away to Gillingham FC Ladies on Sunday. Avilla Bergin giving the visitors the lead deep into 1st half stoppage time. Katie McIntyre doubling the advantage with 20 minutes left to play to see Lewes win the game 2-0.

   Coventry United Ladies in 6th could still potentially catch Lewes if they drop points and they can win theirs have 5 games left to play a busy end to the season. A 15-0 win over Birmingham & West Midlands Ladies saw Coventry United Ladies retain the County Cup in midweek. Were at home on Sunday taking on Cardiff City Ladies. Goals from Helen Dermody, Marie Gauntlett, Stephanie Smith and Jessica Lundle seeing Coventry win the game 4-0.

Chichester City Ladies were hosting Queens Park Rangers Ladies on Sunday. The sides goalless at the half-time whistle Chichester City went on to claim all 3 points in the 2nd half. Laura Ingram putting them in front on the hour. FAWPL South East Division One

Two successive defeats in the league had put the brakes on AFC Wimbledon Ladies title charge at the top of FAWPL South East Division One. A 3 week break without a league fixture they were on the road this Sunday taking on Luton Town Ladies. A good opening 45 minutes saw AFC Wimbledon leading the game 2-0. Katie Stanley and Caroline Bisson the goalscorers. Bisson scored again on the hour to see AFC Wimbledon into a 3-0 lead. Luton Town threatened a comeback however with 2 goals from Funmi Babalola and Nicola Henman to get it back to 3-2. AFC Wimbledon have won several goals by the odd goal this season and that continued this Sunday as they took the 3 points to return to winning ways. Lead the table by 6 points with one game away to Ipswich Town Ladies to come.

Milton Keynes Dons Ladies have a lot of work still left to do but have now climbed into 2nd place in the FAWPL South East Division One table closing the gap to 6 points on AFC Wimbledon and crucially have 3 games in hand. The games coming thick and fast now at the end of the season their squad will be tested. Were hosting Norwich City Ladies at Stadium MK on Sunday Heather McDonnell getting Milton Keynes off to a great start scoring in the opening minute. Laura Mills with a superb solo goal making it 2-0 past the half hour. 

A 2-0 lead for Milton Keynes at half-time Norwich pulled a goal back soon after the restart Chelsea Garrett finding the back of the net. 5 minutes later Milton Keynes restored their 2 goal advantage McDonnell with her 2nd of the game. Charley Clarke making it 4-1 in the 65th minute. McDonnell completing her hat-trick with 20 minutes left. Kim Farrow getting on the scoresheet with 3 minutes left, the final score 6-2 as Norwich City score in the closing minutes through Natasha Snelling. Milton Keynes back in action tonight away to Actonians Ladies a potentially tricky game with Actonians in a good run of form themselves.

One more game from the FAWPL South East Division One at the weekend and it was honours even between hosts Stevenage Ladies and Denham United Ladies the sides drawing 1-1 captain Donna McGuigan scoring for Stevenage.

Capital Women’s Cup

Charlton Athletic Women were playing Crystal Place Ladies in the Capital Cup Final this Sunday. A close contest both sides creating opportunities in front of goal it was stalemate at half-time 0-0. 10 minutes into the 2nd half Crystal Palace took the lead Gemma Bryan scoring from a free-kick just outside the area. Charlton were quick to find a reply levelling it back up at 1-1 6 minutes later Kit Graham with the goal. Olivia Lukasewich the heroine as she scored the winning goal for Charlton in the final minute to see them win the final 2-1 and lift the trophy.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

  This Sunday saw the final of the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup being played at Biggleswade United FC. Holders Luton Town Ladies playing Bedford Ladies. It was Luton Town who opened the scoring going in front in the 20th minute Joanne Rutherford scoring. Luton didn’t build on their lead and were reduced to 10 players shortly before half-time with Rachel Kosky sent off.

   Bedford with the player advantage in the 2nd period levelled the scores up midway through the half Eden Kibron brought down inside the box she scored the resulting penalty. Carissa Kaczorowski putting Bedford into the lead. Kibron adding her 2nd of the game six minutes later to see Bedford go 3-1 up and win this season’s County Cup.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

The final game the league for new Beds & Herts Women’s Division One Champions, St Albans Ladies finish the season unbeaten winning 11 of their 14 games the last against Sharnbrook WFC. Eleanor Lovelock challenging for top scorer getting a hat-trick to move onto 15 for the season. Ellen Slater and Michaela Johnson also getting a goal each in a 5-1 win. Hoffi Pursey scoring for Sharnbrook WFC.

   Garston Ladies with a 4-1 victory at home to Sherrardswood Ladies move above them to into 3rd position in the league with one game left to play a positive result at home to Flitwick Ladies seeing them secure the position.

  Houghton Athletic Ladies might yet nick 3rd spot in 5th are 3 points back on Garston with one game left to play. Did their goal difference a massive boost with a big win at home to bottom side Watton Ladies on Sunday. Holly Thomson scoring 4 goals in the match, Shakeela Hussain netting a hat-trick there was a brace for Emily Peat and a goal for Emily Wilson. With Ciara Craig returning to the side from injury also scoring a brace in a 12-1 win.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Garston Ladies 2nd XI got the points they needed to see them crowned Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two Champions on Sunday. A t home to Hitchin Town Ladies in 3rd a goal each for Lauren Berryman and Leah Crockett saw them win the match 2-0. 

The result means Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires who were waiting in the wings for a slip up are confirmed as Division Two runners-up with Hitchin Town finishing 3rd.

   Letchworth Garden City Eagles in 5th were playing their last league match of the season at home to Evergreen Eagles on Sunday a win would have seen them pinch 4th position from Royston Town Ladies Development, however they were held to a draw, Tayla Murray and Shemika Holloway scoring a goal each Evergreen Eagles responding in kind to see the match finish 2-2.

  Letchworth Garden City Eagles have a cup final to look forwards to taking on Sherrardswood Ladies for The Chris Renshaw Cup on Sunday May 13th at Kempston Rovers FC that match followed by the League Cup Final between St Albans Ladies & Northwood Ladies.
