Sunday 5th November

ERWFL Premier Division 

Things are starting to bunch up at the top of the ERWFL Premier Division with in form sides closing the ground on the leaders this weekend. With 2nd placed Writtle Ladies not in action current leaders Billericay Town Ladies had the chance to go 4 points clear at the top of the table as they hosted Hertfordshire side Royston Town Ladies. Despite goals from Hayley Piggott, Sally Appleton and Sarah Bovington it was ultimately a frustrating afternoon for Billericay as they were held to a 3-3 draw by the visitors who scored 3 goals themselves, Gemma Croucher netting twice along with a goal for Francesca Smithers.

Cambridge City Ladies are on a brilliant run winning their 5th straight league game last season’s Division One Champions are up to 3rd in the Premier Division table now 4 points off top spot. Were at home on Sunday playing fellow promoted side Colney Heath Ladies. Goals from Bella Simmons her 14th of the season and another from Anna Wilson securing a 2-0 win.

AFC Dunstable Ladies bounced back from last weekends 3-0 defeat away to Royston Town Ladies with an away win at the weekend that sees them up to 4th in the ERWFL Premier Division table. Away to AFC Sudbury Ladies the hosts scoring twice through Stacey Teager and Sophie Jeffery led 2-0 before Dunstable came back to claim victory goals from Charlotte South, Bethany Stanton and Samaira Khan seeing the visitors win 3-2.

Acle United Ladies started the weekend in 3rd spot in the ERWFL Premier Division, travelled down to Bedfordshire on Sunday to play Bedford Ladies who got back to winning ways last weekend at Colney Heath Ladies. The hosts taking an early lead in the game held onto their 1-0 advantage going into the half-time break despite Acle having chances to level. Bedford doubling the lead 5 minutes into the 2nd half. Kate Pasque getting a goal for Acle to bring it back to 2-1 searched for a leveller but it was Bedford who went on to find another goal winning 3-1 deep into injury time. They move above Acle United who after this weekends result drop to 6th albeit 6 points now separate the top 6 in the league. 

 Brentwood Town Ladies had slipped down the Premier Division table after taking just 1 point from their last 5 league matches to 2nd bottom were at home on Sunday hosting bottom side Lowestoft Town Ladies. Ended that run with a big result Georgia Holdaway top scoring in the game with a hat-trick for Brentwood. Marie Butler scoring twice, with a goal each for Danielle Butler, Drew Allen and substitute Zoe Linton in an 8-0 win.

ERWFL Division One North

King’s Lynn Town Ladies open up a 4 point lead at the top of the ERWFL Division One North table with a home win over 2nd placed Ipswich Wanderers Ladies at the weekend. A 5th straight win in league and cup competitions goals from Tiffany Forshaw, Jade Kelly, Shelley Woods and Georgia Reardon sealing the 3 points with a 4-0 win.

   Wymondham Town Ladies are scoring goals for fun at the moment, 34 alone in their last 5 league and cup games were hosting Cambridgeshire side Histon Ladies for the 2nd weekend running having knocked them out of the League Cup last time out with a 3-1 win. Playing catch up in the league with games in hand on the leading pair Wymondham Town fell behind to an early goal Alison Wright putting Histon 1 up in the 8th minute. The hosts were quick to respond, striker Nadine Basson making it 1-1 5 minutes later, that was quickly followed by 2 more goals from Wymondham a minute apart Laura Nicholls striking 1st then Basson with her 2nd to make it 3-1. Basson going on to complete a 1st half hat-trick in the 26th minute. Sophie Lanham pulling a goal back for Histon, Nicholls with her 2nd of the match making it 5-2 to Wymondham at half-time. Wymondham going on to have the better of the 2nd half 2 goals from Laura Wiseman in the 53rd and 55th minute making it 7-2 with youngster Mollie O’Callaghan making it 8-2 from the penalty spot with 15 minutes left, the win lifting Wymondham above Histon on goal difference into 3rd.

Bottom side Silver End United Ladies finally got 3 points on the board at the weekend after losing their opening 7 league matches in ERWFL Division One North. Hosting Ipswich Town Ladies Development, goals from Stephanie A’Len and Angela Holden seeing them celebrate their 1st win.

ERWFL Division One South

In ERWFL Division One South 2nd placed side Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies keep up their 100% winning start to the season winning 4 from 4 this weekend. Hosting Hertford Town Ladies their were 4 different goalscorers for the Essex side with Georgia Fraser Abbie Simmonds Ebony Moore and Kerri Thomas all getting on the scoresheet in a 4-0 win. 

   A 3rd win of the season sees Hutton Ladies move into 3rd position in the Division One South table. Playing Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies for the 2nd weekend running Hutton made it a league double over their opponents, hosting his Sunday 2 goals from Kaitlin Sugg securing the 3 points.

FAWPL Southern Division

Eight straight wins at the start of the season had seen Charlton Athletic Women running away with the lead in the FAWPL Southern Division since then 2 successive defeats in the league have followed giving hope to the chasing pack as they look to close the gap. This weekend Charlton Athletic were at home hosting in form Coventry United who came into the game unbeaten in 5 league matches winning the last 4 to move up to 4th in the table. Charlotte Gurr struck 20 minutes into the 1st half to give Charlton the lead her 14th goal of the season. Into 1st half stoppage time the lead was doubled the Kit Graham taking her tally to 12 for the season finding the back of the net. Charlton successfully defending their 2-0 lead in the 2nd half to return to winning ways in the league and remain 4 points clear at the top of the table.

Lewes FC Women remain Charlton’s closest challenges although they had to come back from a 2-1 deficit at half-time away from home to win the 3 points on Sunday. Making the long trip to Wales to take on Cardiff City Ladies. The hosts getting off to a great start captain Cori Williams latching onto a poor back pass to score. The lead wasn’t to last long Lewes levelling the scores before the 10th minute their captain Kelly Newton with the goal to make it 1-1. That looked to be the score heading into the half-time break but for a terrific 25 yard free-kick from Williams finding the top corner to send Cardiff into half-time with a 2-1 lead. 8 minutes into the 2nd half it  was Newton’s turn to find a 2nd goal levelling the scores for Lewes for the 2nd time in the game. With 10 minutes left Lewes went on to score what would prove to be the winning goal. Georgia Bridges introduced from the bench after 3 months out scoring to make it 3-2.

   C&K Basildon Ladies continue their great league form in 3rd place in the Southern Division table travelling west to play Swindon Town Ladies on Sunday. The hosts bottom of the table battled hard in the 1st half holding their opponents to a goalless draw at the half-time break. Into the 2nd half and Basildon’s pressure finally told Angela Addison breaking the deadlock with the opening goal of the game. Therese Addison also scoring to make it 2-0 to the visitors the points put beyond doubt by April Bowers netting Basildon’s 3rd.

  Amanda Chimbima got Queens Park Rangers Ladies off to the perfect start at home to Chichester City Ladies on Sunday scoring in the 2nd minute her 1st goal for the senior team. QPR working hard held onto their lead despite Chichester creating numerous chances to equalise. The visitors awarded a penalty in the 32 minute Kerrie Ryan sending her effort up over the bar. Chichester continued to create chances 2nd half and into the last 5 minutes of the game QPR conceded the equaliser, Gemma Simmonds scoring for Chichester. The points shared as QPR held on for the draw to take what might yet be a vital point in their battle at the bottom of the table.

FAWPL South East Division One

 In FAWPL South East Division One, AFC Wimbledon Ladies had since losing on the opening day of the season gone on to win 8 straight league games to power their way to the top of the table. That run was finally brought to an end on Sunday away to Stevenage Ladies. The Hertfordshire side leading their opponents 1-0 at the break thanks to a fantastic strike from Ellie Searle. Chloe Gunn doubling Stevenage’s lead in the 2nd half. Wimbledon bringing Ingrid Asplund and Sian Wylde off the bench as they looked to get back into the game a dramatic final 10 minutes, Asplund scrambling the ball home in the 84th minute to make it 2-1, Wimbledon levelling it up with 3 minutes left Wylde getting the goal. Stevenage got the ball up the other end and the cross fired into the area Nicole Emmings getting on the end of it to score the winning goal to lift Stevenage into 7th spot taking 7 points from their last 3 league games.

That defeat for Wimbledon saw 2nd placed Milton Keynes Dons Ladies close the gap on the leaders to just a point with victory on the road at the weekend away to Norwich City Ladies who are looking for points at the wrong end of the table working hard in the 1st half Norwich kept Milton Keynes at bay the sides drawing 0-0. A single goal scored in the 2nd half enough to claim victory for the visitors Amelia Hazard with her 4th goal of the season the scorer.

  Leyton Orient WFC were away to Denham United Ladies on Sunday the 3rd placed side also winning to close the gap on the leaders, goals from Belen Ripoll Douton and Sophie Le Marchand clinching the 3 points.

Ipswich Town Ladies are another side looking to chase down the leaders in 4th position they had to do it the hard way away to Actonians Ladies this Sunday the home side taking an early lead in the match Sinead Friel scoring the goal. As the 1st half drew to a close Ipswich found the equalising goal Zoe Cossey putting the ball into the back of the net. Cossey going on to score another in the 2nd half on 64 minutes, what would prove to be the winner, 2-1 the final score.

 Luton Town Ladies were away to Enfield Town Ladies on Sunday and despite creating numerous opportunities the visitors couldn’t breach the hosts defence the 2 sides taking home a point each the game ending goalless.

   Cambridge United WFC climb back up into 5th spot in the FAWPL South East Division One table with victory away to bottom side Haringey Borough Women on Sunday. Emma Jenkins scoring in the 8th minute to give Cambridge the lead. Jenkins added another goal on 37 minutes to make it 2-0 and move her onto 5 goals for the season. Nuala Wayne also moving onto 5 goals for the season as she scored 2 minutes later to see Cambridge leading 3-0 at the break. A early chance for Cambridge to extend their lead from the penalty spot Lauren Cartwright’s shot was saved. Laura Baker did make it 4-0 for Cambridge however scoring on the hour mark, then Cartwright scored from open play to make it 5-0 on 67 minutes. Lauren Gibson introduced to the action in the 61st minute went on to score 2 goals for Cambridge moving her onto 7 for the season in the final 20 minutes Cambridge winning 7-0.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Another busy Sunday of women’s football in Essex with 10 games played across the 2 divisions. In the Premier Division, Collier Row Tigers keep up their 100% start to the season to lead the table by 2 points making it 5 wins from 5 at home to bottom side Chigwell Ladies. Scoring 6 goals, Helen Moreira netting a brace for the hosts. Laura Bunton, Daisy Chapman, Emma Harrison and Rebecca Killington the other goalscorers. Claire Huggins with both goals for Chigwell.

2nd versus 3rd this Sunday as Hatfield Peveral Ladies having lost for the 1st time this season last weekend Frontiers Ladies. Leading 2-0 at half-time Frontiers Ladies went on to claim the win 6-1 in the 2nd half and in doing so move above Hatfield Peveral into 2nd 2 points behind Collier Row Tigers. Kay Foy top scoring for Frontiers netting a hat-trick, Kelly Holsworth scoring twice with Emma Parker also on target. Yasmin Cowley with the 70th minute goal for Hatfield Peveral.

   Lawford Ladies move up into 5th position in the Premier Division with a 5-1 win at home to Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies on Sunday. Daisy Canny getting another 2 goals to her tally in the game taking her to 13 goals from 5 appearances. Hot on her heels is Jasmine Cox who scored a hat-trick in the game taking her to 10 goals for the season so far. Jo Smeaton with the Beacon Hill Rovers goal.

   After suffering 3 straight losses earlier in the season Chelmsford City Ladies are regaining momentum recording a 3rd straight win in league and cup to move up the Premier Division table into 6th. Having several out through injury were on the road at the weekend playing Harlow Town Ladies Reserves, goals from Mia Brisley and Tyler Christou edging the win 2-1 to claim the 3 points. Amber Strows scoring for Harlow.

Eastern Avenue were playing hosts to Runwell Sports Ladies on Sunday the visitors having a 1-0 lead going into the changing rooms at half-time. Eastern Avenue came back to score twice in the 2nd half, Runwell Sports also scoring again however the sides having to settle for a point a piece in a 2-2 draw. Ashleigh Harvey and Frances Murphy scoring for Runwell Sports. Hannah Warner with both the goals for Eastern Avenue.

Essex Women’s Division One

Hullbridge Sports Ladies continue to set the pace in Essex Women’s Division One as they recorded a 6th straight league win moving onto 18 points at the start of the season. Away to Alresford Colne Rangers, Broghan Kelly scored both goals for Hullbridge in the 1st half in a 2-1 win. Joanne Harvey scoring in the 2nd half for the hosts.

   Southend United Ladies move 6 points clear in 2nd spot in Division One 3 points behind Hullbridge with a home win against Benfleet Villa Ladies on Sunday had to comeback from behind however as goals from Elisha Reade and Jameela Walker saw Benfleet Villa Ladies leading 2-1 at half-time. Southend scoring twice more in the 2nd half to edge the win 3-2 Emily Pert, Lily-Maree Halliday and Lauren Johnston with their goals.

   Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies were away to 4th placed Walden Ladies on Sunday in Division One looking to move level with them onto 9 points. Had the better of the 1st half leading the game 2-0 both sides scoring a goal each in the 2nd half the 3-1 the final score. Lauren Beard striking twice for Dagenham & Redbridge one goal from the penalty spot plus and own goal. Stacey Roper with the 2nd half strike for Walden.

   Rayleigh Town Ladies piled on the goals as they claimed their 2nd league win of the season on Sunday in Division One at home to Billericay Town Ladies Reserves. Isabelle Wallings, Rayleigh Town captain top scoring in the game with 5 goals to her name. Holly Gash, Eleasha Reeves, Aaryanna Simonelli and Anne Winfield all getting a goal each in a 9-1 win that lifts Rayleigh Town into 7th.

The points were shared between Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves and FC Clacton Ladies on Sunday as the pair drew 2-2. Shannon Kelly and Rebecca Lucy scoring for home side Chelmsford. Lauren Bourne and Nancy Butler scoring the goals for FC Clacton.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

One league game in Beds & Herts Division One this Sunday and it was a big one with league leaders St Albans Ladies having started the season with 4 wins from 4 hosting 2nd placed Northwood Ladies unbeaten themselves from their opening 4 league games. 2 points between the sides going into the game St Albans have been scoring for fun have almost double their opponents tally. It was Northwood who took the lead however going 1-0 up late in the 1st half. St Albans were quick to respond Sophie Lawrence making it 1-1 3 minutes later. All square at the break St Albans went on to take the lead in the 68th minute Chloe Reeves scoring. Added another with 10 minutes left to play. Sophie Monahan wrapping up a 4-1 with a goal in the last 5 minutes to send St Albans 5 points clear at the top of the table.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A 3rd straight league win sees Royston Town Ladies Reserves go 3 points clear at the top of the Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two table. For the 2nd successive game to the winning score was 5-2 this time away to Hitchin Belles. Both Grace Leslie and Harriet Smith netting a brace for Royston in the match with Hannah Tofts also scoring a goal. Kiera How and Chloe Keller with the goals for Hitchin Belles.

   Garston Ladies 2nd XI return to 2nd spot in the Division Two table as they recorded their 3rd straight league win themselves on Sunday to keep up their 100% start to the season. Away to Evergreen Eagles, goals from Lauren Berryman, Amy Robb, Dion Lewis along with a brace for Charley Kesley saw the 3 points secured with a 5-1 win. Christie Brewer scoring for Evergreen Eagles.

    Securing their 1st league win of the season last time out in Division Two, Letchworth Garden City Ladies are now up to 4th in the table as they made it 2 wins from 2 away to Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires this Sunday. Emily Jamieson netting twice in the game with Tayla Murray and Jade Anglum also scoring a goal each in a 4-1 win. Danielle Aken with the goal for Welwyn Pegasus.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Division Three leaders Welwyn Pegasus Azures kept up their 100% winning start to the season as they won at home to 3rd placed Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies at the weekend. A single goal enough to give them their 5th straight league victory Janiece Allen on target for her 11th goal of the season so far.

2nd placed Bedford Ladies Development keep up the pressure on Welwyn Pegasus Azures as thy maintained their own unbeaten start to the season with victory at home to Shefford Town & Campton Ladies. Zoe Molloy opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Jessica Bunnage making it 2-0 at half-time for the hosts. The lead extended 2 minutes into the 2nd half Cayleigh Jackson with the goal added a 2nd to her name on the hour mark. Paige Abraham also scoring a goal in a 5-0 win.

   Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets got their 2nd win of the season in Division Three at the weekend away to bottom side Potters Bar United Ladies. The sides goalless at half-time a single goal settled it in the 2nd period scored in the 65th minute by Alexandra Miller to lift Woburn up to 5th position in the table.

Sadly for the 3rd week running I am having to report the loss of another women’s football side struggling to recruit new players Championship North side, Swineshead Institute Ladies have had to call it a day a real shame wishing everyone involved with the club all the best for the future.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

 A handful of league games played across Cambridgeshire this Sunday. Just the one game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership it was a big one nonetheless as leaders Netherton United Ladies took on 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies. Winning all 5 of their opening league games Netherton were already 5 points clear at the top. A Game in hand unbeaten in the league themselves Newmarket were looking to close the gap to 2 points. It was Netherton who had the better of the 1st half Emily Johnson opening the scoring in the 20th minute then 7 minutes later Yasmin Green doubled the lead for the hosts. 2-0 up at the break Newmarket struck early in the 2nd half to pull it back to 2-1 Sarah O’Rourke netting the goal. Netherton were quick to respond Georgina Parrett making it 3-1 in the 55th minute. The 3 points made secure 20 minutes from time Parrett scoring her 2nd of the game Netherton winning 4-1 and going a massive 8 points clear at the top of the Premiership in the process.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

Two matches played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday. Was a good result away from home for 3rd placed Hungate Rovers Ladies keeping hold of that position in the table after they held 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies to a goalless draw ending their 100% winning start to the season.

   Spalding United Ladies won for the 2nd successive league match this Sunday once again scoring 6 goals in the process too. Were at home to bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies. Stephanie Starr and Ellis Taylor-Williams both scoring a brace in the match. Rebecca Navarette and Louise Coggles also on target with a goal each in a 6-3 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

I was beginning to wonder if St Ives Town Ladies had a new Development side or whether they were just making it up? The last side out of the blocks across the whole of the East they were finally playing their 1st league match in the last Sunday of October. Away to 4th placed Isleham United Ladies. Sasha Smith usually involved with the 1st team was returning to action after 7 weeks out with injury she celebrated by scoring a brace in the match with Katherine Speed in her St Ives debut also scoring twice in a 4-1 win. Vicky Beeton scoring Isleham United’s goal.

   Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves haven’t had that much action either this just their 2nd league match were looking to get off the mark at home to Burwell Tigers who did so themselves with an impressive 10-1 last time out. Tasted heavy defeat this time around however as Newmarket racked up the goals to claim their 1st 3 point haul of the season. Dominika Szary scoring a hat-trick in the game. Molly Agnew, Kate Silver, Amanda Stacey and Hollie Turner all claimed 2 goals each. Shelby Beveridge also celebrating a goal in a 14-0 win.

Norfolk Women’s Division One

Unbeaten at the start of the season Norfolk Division One leaders, Sprowston Ladies travelled to 4th placed Stalham Town Ladies on Sunday both sides promoted last season to the top tier in Norfolk starting the season well. On a windy afternoon it was Sprowston who got off to the better start, Chelsea Pettifer on hand to nod the ball into the back of the net from a flick on from a corner in the 7th minute. The visitors dominated the attack pushing their opponents back for much of the 1st half Stalham defended well but were unable to get much going up the other end. Moving into the closing minutes of the 1st half Sprowston found two quick goals to put them in control of the game, Rebecca Russell sending the ball home from outside the box then straight from the restart Victoria Leyer raced through clear on goal to beat the keeper and make it 3-0.

  Stalham threatened a comeback early in the 2nd half midfielder Vicky Lubbock scoring from inside the box. Sprowston soon restored their 3 goal cushion Pettifer getting away on the left wing sending a low shot from distance across the keeper to score. The final score 5-1 to Sprowston as the ball was played across the area to Russell in space to smash the ball home. 4 wins and a draw from their opening 5 games Sprowston remain top a point above 2nd placed Thorpe United Ladies.

   Thorpe United Ladies were at home to North Walsham Angels Ladies 2nd v 3rd with Thorpe looking to continue their 100% winning start to the season. Despite a goal from Emma Faux North Walsham were trailing 2-1 at half-time Thorpe United going on to score another goal in the 2nd period to win 3-1 making it 4 wins from 4. A brace from Charlotte Groves along with a goal for Shanice Sutton for Thorpe United.

  Bungay Town Ladies climb the table going 3rd in Division One as they won comfortably at home on Sunday against Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves. Selina Rowland opening the scoring for Bungay in the 12th minute. 5 minutes later the hosts went 2-0 up Emily Leach getting the goal. The half time score 3-0 to Bungay with new signing Kathryn Stanley getting the goal in the 43rd minute. More goals came 2nd half the game moving into the final 20 minutes both Rowland and Leach going on to get another goal each with Samantha Walker making it 6-0 with a minute left of normal time.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

Level on points at the top of Division Two with FC Sprowston Ladies, Beccles Town Ladies took full advantage of their rivals not being in action this Sunday to move 3 points clear at the top of the table. A tough test at home to 3rd placed Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies a single goal scored in the 1st half from Jordan Duke was the difference between the sides a Beccles Town new to the league this season claimed their 5th win from 6 played.

  A local derby in Dereham this Sunday with Toftwood United Ladies hosting 4th placed Tavern Ladies, the bottom side with several new players needing time to get used to each other were up against a few old faces one of those Katie Hart-Copsey netting a hat-trick in the game. A brace too for Sophie Fuller as Tavern ran out 6-0 winners continuing their own unbeaten start to the season and move up a place into 3rd in the process.

   Freethorpe Ladies were away on Sunday to new side Costessey Sports Ladies both still looking for their 1st win of the season. Freethorpe held a narrow 1-0 lead at half-time. A close game both sides scoring in the 2nd period a narrow 2-1 win seeing Freethorpe celebrate their 1st league win of the season Eden Simmonds and Andrea Colbrook their goalscorers moves Freethorpe up into 5th in the Division Two table.

ERWFL Premier Division

Some adjustment to the ERWFL Premier Division following the sad news of Colchester Town Ladies folding their fixtures no longer counting. That sees previous leaders Writtle Ladies dropping to 2nd behind Billericay Town Ladies, however with the Essex side not in action this weekend Writtle had a chance to return to the top. A tough fixture at home to 3rd placed Acle United Ladies. A great start from the visitors Acle scoring twice trough Naomi Cooper and Laura Holden in the opening 10 minutes to lead 2-0. Megan Todd scoring on the half hour to put Acle in the driving seat at half-time. Holden with her 2nd of the game made it 4-0. Writtle pulling a goal back before Grace Birchall scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to make it 6-1. Writtle pulling another back in stoppage time their goals scorers Leanne Stubbings and Lucy Jones. The 6-2 defeat Writtle’s 1st loss in the league this season. Acle closing the gap on the leaders to 5 points with a game in hand.

    3 successive 2-1 home wins have turned Cambridge City Ladies into potential title chasers in the ERWFL Premier Division up to 4th they were comprehensive winners this Sunday at home to Brentwood Town Ladies who slip to 2nd bottom in the table. Bella Simmons scoring 7 goals for Cambridge City in the match. Stacey Fullicks and Charlotte Gillies both getting 2 goals a piece. Carla Penny and Anna Wilson also scoring in a 13-2 victory. Georgia Holdaway and Rosi Webb scoring the Brentwood goals.

A good point earned away from home against Acle United Ladies last weekend, Royston Town Ladies build upon that result by claiming a 3 points at home against 5th placed AFC Dunstable Ladies this Sunday. Goals from Becky Shephard, Gemma Croucher and Sammy Tinsley securing a 3-0 win.

  Bedford Ladies had lost their previous 3 league games in the Premier Division seeing them slip down the standings, were away to Colney Heath Ladies this Sunday and ran out comfortable winners to move back into 6th place in the table. 8-0 the final score.

   Losing the 3 points from one of their two league wins sees Lowestoft Town Ladies slip to the bottom of the ERWFL Premier Division table. Trying to rebuild and recruit additional players they were hosting AFC Sudbury Ladies this Sunday. A brace from Mia Etheridge along with goals for Charlotte Churchman and Natalie Golding seeing the visitors win all 3 points with a 4-1 win. Hannah Waters scoring for Lowestoft.

ERWFL Division One North

 One match played in ERWFL Division One this weekend with 2nd placed Ipswich Wanderers having suffered a heavy defeat away to Wymondham Town Ladies last weekend at home to Cambridge United WFC Reserves. Had the better of things 1st half this tie around leading the game 2-0 at the break. Cambridge threatening a comeback 2nd half scoring 3 times through Liz Pamplin, Teonie Peyton and Ebony Rule. Ipswich Wanderers just nicking the win however scoring twice more 2nd half to take the 3 points with a 4-3 result taking them back to within a point of leaders King’s Lynn Town Ladies. Their goals scored by Jess Taylor-Allum, Michelle Taylor-Allum, Coral Young and Megan Strickland.

ERWFL Division One South

Likewise there was just the one league game played in ERWFL Division One South this Sunday with Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies hosting Essex side Hutton Ladies. A single goal sealing victory it was scored by Hutton’s Laura Allen giving them their 2nd win from 3 played to move level on points with 3rd placed Harlow Town Ladies.

ERWFL League Cup

Elsewhere the ERWFL Division One sides left in the competition were in action in the 2nd Round of the League Cup. Division One North leaders King’s Lynn Town Ladies were at home to Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies 2nd in Division One South. A goalless 1st half between the sides Tiffany Forshaw struck a brace for King’s Lynn in the 2nd half with Becky Russell and Oksana Imanalijeva also scoring in a 4-2 win to see them through to the 3rd Round. Sophie Dowman netting one of Little Thurrock’s goals.

   Wymondham Town Ladies good form in cup competitions continued at the weekend as they hosted fellow Division One North side Histon Ladies in the 2nd Round of the League Cup. Laura Nicholls giving the hosts the lead midway through the 1st half they were pegged back to 1-1 late on with Katie Seymour equalising for Histon. Nicholls with her 2nd of the match restoring Wymondham’s lead early in the 2nd half. A late goal from Brooke Moreno secured the win for the hosts.

   Tough tomes for Bishops Stortford Ladies as they suffered another heavy defeat at the weekend this time in the League Cup. At home were hosting Division One North side Ipswich Town Ladies Development. Emily Steward scoring 4 goals in the game. Olivia Gunn grabbing a brace. Grace Bowman, Destiny Minors and Jennifer Purbrook were all goalscorers too with an own goal bringing up a 10-0 win.

   Twice in the league Harlow Town Ladies had lost out narrowly to fellow Division One South side Stevenage Ladies Reserves going down 1-0 both times. Now they faced each other in the 2nd Round of the League Cup. At home another competitve encounter between the sides it was Harlow who held a narrow 1-0 advantage at half-time Paige Horwood scoring midway through the half. 20 minutes into the 2nd half Harlow doubled their lead, Courtney Miller the goalscorer. The win secured in the final 5 minutes with Kaydee King making it 3-0 to see Harlow advance to the 3rd Round.

FAWPL Southern Division

Hope for the chasing pack in the FAWPL Southern Division as runaway leaders Charlton Athletic Women victorious in their opening 8 league games have now suffered two successive defeats the latest this weekend away to 3rd placed C&K Basildon Ladies. The hosts taking an early lead in the game with Angela Addison scoring inside the opening 10 minutes, April Bowers making it 2-0 to C&K Basildon before half-time. Charlton threatened an immediate comeback with Charlotte Gurr pulling it back to 2-1 a minute into the 2nd half however C&K Basildon defended well to hold on to their lead 2nd half and take all 3 points moving them onto 19 points 5 behind Charlton at the top with a game in hand.

A great result too for 2nd placed Lewes FC Women as they got back to winning ways in the league picking up the 3 points at home on Sunday with a convincing win over bottom side Swindon Town Ladies, scoring 7 goals without reply with 7 different names on the scoresheet. Rebecca Carter getting things started in the 23rd minute. Charlotte Owen doubling Lewes’ lead in the 38th minute her goal quickly followed by a 3rd from Avilla Bergin to put the hosts 3-0 up at the break. Rachel Palmer made it 4-0 in the 58th minute. Darcey James striking 10 minutes later to bring up the 5th goal. Sarah Kempson on target with 5 minutes left and a stoppage time goal for Danielle Lane completed the 7-0 scoreline. Lewes closing the gap to leaders Charlton to 4 points.

Coventry United Ladies are moving in the right direction up the FAWPL Southern Division table up to 4th now as they extend their unbeaten run in league and cup to 6 matches. Away to Portsmouth FC Ladies this Sunday who had beaten them 2-1 in the reverse fixture early in the season. The 2 sides playing out a goalless 1st half, Jade Formaston with a great strike early in the 2nd half giving the visitors the lead. Amber Hughes making it 2-0 with 20 minutes left. Coventry move onto 16 points have games in hand on all the sides above them.

FAWPL Cup

Two games from the 1st Round of the FAWPL Cup played this weekend, Leyton Orient WFC from FAWPL South East Division One making the long trip to Wales to play higher league opponents Cardiff City Ladies. Doing well in the league Leyton Orient held the hosts to a goalless 1st half. The hosts getting the better of the 2nd half taking the lead Cori Williams hitting a brace with Ella Powell also getting a goal. Leyre Bastyr with a late goal for Leyton Orient as they exited the competition Cardiff winning 3-1.

3-1 was also the winning score for home side Plymouth Argyle Ladies from South West Division One, taking on Southern Division side, Chichester City Ladies. A 100% winning record in the league Plymouth took that form into the Cup. Striker Natasha Knapman scoring a goal either side of half-time, Tori Marks with a goal on the hour for Plymouth. Jade Widdows netting the goal for Chichester City as they exit the competition.

One tie from the 1st Round of the FAWPL Plate played this weekend two an all Southern Division clash with West Ham United Ladies hosting Queens Park Rangers Ladies. Chloe Burr striking in the 17th minute to put  West Ham into the lead. Amber Stobbs making it 2-0 right on the stroke of half-time. Queens Park Rangers pulling it back to 2-1 3 minutes into the 2nd half through a Katie Knell goal it was West Ham who went onto score again Chenise Austin finding the back of the net in the 56th minute to see the hosts through to the 2nd Round of the competition with a 3-1 win.

5 games played in FAWPL South East Division One this Sunday. League leaders AFC Wimbledon Ladies leaving it very late away from home against Enfield Town Ladies to keep their winning run going extending to 8 matches. Katie Stanley the heroine scoring in the 86th minute to see the visitors take the 3 points home with them keep them 4 points clear at the top of the table.

   A brace from new signing Laura Mills sees Milton Keynes Dons Ladies consolidate 2nd spot in the FAWPL South East Division One table the 2 goals enough to claim all 3 points despite a goal from Joanne Rutherford for Luton Town Ladies.

   A good result at home for Stevenage Ladies at the weekend at home to 6th placed Actonians Ladies picking up their 3rd league win of the season thanks to goals from Leah Littlechild and substitute, Kristi Burling clinching a narrow 2-1 result. Alessandra Barreca netting for Actonians.

   Cambridge United WFC were at home on Sunday hosting Norwich City Ladies, had to comeback from a goal down to win the 3 points Chelsea Garrett scoring in the 7th minute for Norwich. The lead only lasted a couple of minutes however as Cambridge hit back immediately to level the scores Amy Howlett putting the ball home to make it 1-1. With 5 minutes left in the 1st half Cambridge took the lead, recent signing Lauren Cartwright scoring her 1st goal for the club. No more goals scored 2nd half Cambridge climb a place to 6th with the 2-1 win.

   Finally Denham United Ladies were hosting bottom side Haringey Borough Women at the weekend. Jenny Banfield scoring twice in the game for Denham their were goals too for Emma Bebbington, Annie Hewitt and Celine O’Halloran in a 5-0 win.

One game played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One saw a change at the top of the table as St Albans Ladies continued their excellent start to the season with a 4th straight league win at home to 3rd placed Garston Ladies on Sunday to move onto 12 points 2 clear of Northwood Ladies. Chloe Reeves scoring in the 1st half for St Albans added a 2nd with 15 minutes left, Sophie Lawrence scoring on 68 minutes, Sophie Monahan making t 4-1 in the last 5 minutes. Emma Trill scorn for Garston Ladies. Already a huge gap opening up between the top two and the rest of the division 7 points between 3rd and 2nd.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

New leaders in Beds & Herts Division Two this Sunday with Royston Town Ladies Reserves winning their 3rd match of the season to take over top spot in what looks likely to be a hotly contested league. At home taking on Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues, Megan Evers scoring twice for Royston. Aimee Holden, Harriet Smith and Kelly Yarwood also claiming a goal each in a 5-2 victory. Madison Drewett and Bethany Young scoring for Woburn & Wavendon.

 Hitchin Town Ladies are also big movers in the league climbing from 6th up to 2nd spot in Division Two with a home win against Evergreen Eagles on Sunday. A brace for Jessica McNamara with Crawley Green Ladies last season along with a goal for Emma Chaffey enough to cancel out Samantha Takis’ brace for Evergreen Eagles in a 3-2 win.

  A 1st league win of the season for Letchworth Garden City Eagles in Beds & Herts Division Two at the weekend at home ran out 5-1 winners over Hitchin Belles their goalscorer Charlotte Peters.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

With leaders Welwyn Pegasus Azures not in action this weekend it was an opportunity for 2nd placed Bedford Ladies Development to close the gap at the top as they took on Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets at home on Sunday. The hosted claimed all 3 points but were made to work for it by the opponents in a high scoring match. Joanne Makin giving Bedford an early 5th minute lead, Kayla Gunn added a 2nd goal on 36 minutes. 2-0 the lead at half time an eventful 2nd half followed. within 10 minutes of the 2nd half kicking off Woburn & Wavendon scored twice to level the score, Alexandra Miller and Emma Saunders with the goals. A quickfire response from Bedford saw them restore their 2 goal lead Cayleigh Jackson grabbing both goals a couple of minutes apart on the hour. Charlotte Demmon got it back to 4-3 for Woburn & Wavendon in the last 15 minutes. Makin with her 2nd of the game in the 90th minute securing the 3 points with a 5-3 win.

   A 2nd successive 2-1 win in the league sees 3rd placed Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies keep up their 100% winning start to the season 3 from 3 with victory over bottom side Potters Bar United Ladies on Sunday. Mandy Morgan with the goal for Potters Bar United who remain without a point after 5 played in the league have scored in all 5 games however.

   Evergreen Ladies won their 2nd league match of the season on Sunday to climb up to 4th in the Division Three table at home to Shefford Town & Campton Ladies, Samantha Jackson and Daniella McMullin both getting two goals each in a 4-1 win. Sarah King on target for Shefford Town.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Premier Division leaders Hatfield Peveral Ladies saw their excellent start to the season come to an end on Sunday as they lost for the 1st time this season away to Lawford Ladies. Travelling with a side struggling with injury Hatfield Peveral came up against an in form Lawford scoring plenty of goals early in the season, Daisy Canny top scorer early on took her tally to 11 goals from 4 appearances with a brace in the match. Jasmine Cox looking to catch her up going one better in the game netting a hat-trick their was a goal too for ex-Colchester Town Ladies captain, Georgia Box on her 1st appearance for the club in a 6-1 win. Yasmin Cowley with the 1st half goal for Hatfield Peveral.

  That defeat for Hatfield Peveral Ladies sees new leaders take over at the top of the Premier Division with Collier Row Tigers keeping up their 100% winning start away from home against Runwell Sports Ladies. A good contest saw the two sides drawing 2-2 at the break, Frances Murphy and Bobbi Cubberly scoring for the hosts. Collier Row Tigers getting the better of the 2nd half scoring twice more to make it 4 wins from 4 with a 4-2 victory to go top on goal difference. Emily Dempsey scoring a brace with Lauren Bunton and Natalie Oxby both getting a goal a piece. 

  Frontiers Ladies are 2 points behind the leading pair in the Premier Division as they kept up their unbeaten start to the season at home on Sunday taking on Eastern Avenue who had won their opening 2 games in the league. Hannah Warner getting a goal for Eastern Avenue 1st half, Frontiers Ladies were in control of the game going into the dressing room at half-time with a 4-1 lead. Sharon Ferguson scoring a hat-trick in the game further goals were added 2nd half with Kay Foy, Jill Bartholomew and Hayley King all getting a goal each in a 6-1 win.

   Corringham Cosmos also keep up the pressure on the league leaders as they recorded a 3rd straight league win at the start of their season. The 4th placed side winning big at home against Harlow Town Ladies Reserves. Chloe Sams on fir at the start of the season taking her goal scoring account to a whopping 21 from just 6 appearances as she helped herself to 6 goals at the weekend. Rebecca Gallagher has 11 goals from her 6 appearances so far too as she scored another hat-trick. Michelle Sumpter also scoring in a double figure win the final score 10-1, Casey Lunn netting the goal for Harlow Town Ladies Reserves still in search of their 1st points of the season.  

Chigwell Ladies remain bottom of the Premier Division without a point after 6 games played, were hosting Chelmsford City Ladies this Sunday the visitors looking to get back to winning ways after suffering 3 straight defeats in the league. Chigwell are scoring goals but unfortunately conceding more at the other end, Kimmilee Day and Claire Huggins scoring for the home side. Chelmsford City  followed up their County Cup win the weekend before with a high scoring result with Tyler Christou hitting a hat-trick in the match. Lisa Overall on her 1st appearance of the season scoring a brace Shannon Hughes and Rosie Coe also scoring a goal each in a 7-2 win.

Essex Women’s Division One

A good weekend for Hullbridge Sports Ladies in Essex Women’s Division One as they win at home against one of their early challenges for the title and see another lose to go 3 points clear at the top of the table with their 5th straight league win at the start of the season. Hosting 3rd placed Leigh Ramblers were 2-1 in front at the break going on to score another in the 2nd half to win 3-1. Karley Knight, Broghan Kelly and Jennifer Lyttle with their goals. Megan Downes with the 1st half strike for Leigh Ramblers.

  2nd placed Southend United  Ladies were also looking to make it 5 straight wins to start their season at the top of Division One as they travelled to mid-table Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies on Sunday. It was advantage to the home side at half-time as Dagenham & Redbridge led 1-0. Southend United got a goal back 2nd half through Ria Toovey however it wasn’t enough as Dagenham & Redbridge went on to score twice themselves to secure the 3 points with a 3-1 result and end Southend United’s 100% winning start. Pauline Adeyemo scoring twice, one in open play the other from the penalty spot with Ammarah Ali also on target.

Walden Ladies won for the 2nd successive weekend to move up to 4th in the Essex Women’s Division One table on their travels taking on Billericay Town Ladies Reserves, Kim Jeffery was on target with all 4 of their goals in a 4-1 win. Franziska Beck scoring the goal for Billericay.

  Brentwood Town Ladies came back from conceding an early goal to record a comfortable win at home to Alresford Colne Rangers. Christina Cash putting the visitors into the lead Brentwood came back strongly. Emma Mackie scoring twice their were goals too for Carla Rose, Chloe Hawkins, Paida Dedza and Ashley Debnam in a 6-1 win Brentwood’s 2nd win of the season moving them up to 7th in the table.

Benfleet Villa Ladies were at home on Sunday taking on Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves still in search of their 1st point of the season. Jameela Walker scoring twice for the hosts Benfleet Villa claimed their 2nd point of the season with Chelmsford City scoring twice themselves, Angela Holden and Rebecca Lucy with the goals to see the visitors claim their 1st point of the season in a 2-2 draw.
