Beds & Herts – Sunday 9th April

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Been twists and turns all season long in the battle for the title in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with 5 sides all in contention pretty much the whole campaign. New leaders as the season enters the home straight with sides having between 1 and 3 games left to play. Sherrardswood Ladies have been flirting with the top two Sandy Ladies and St Albans Ladies for a few weeks now and with both in cup action this weekend took full advantage with a big win at home to move top of the table above Sandy Ladies on goal difference.

Sherrardswood were hosting bottom side Hitchin Town Ladies. Got off to a great start Manjinder Atwal opening the scoring in the 5th minute, goals from Laura Cousins and Laurie Marris quickly followed Sherrardswood 3-0 up after 10 minutes. Julie Briars making it 4-0 in the 12th minute, 2 more goals were struck on the half hour Francesca Novelli getting on the scoresheet, Marris adding her 2nd. Marris went on to complete her hat-trick in the 2nd half, adding a 4th goal from the penalty spot. Cousins and Novelli both scoring to complete a brace each in the final 5 minutes in a 10-1 win, Emma Chaffey scoring for Hitchin Town fielding 10 players.

Also a big win at home for 5th placed Garston Ladies at home to Houghton Athletic Ladies on Sunday, a brace each for both Jane Hales and Lucy Zecchin, with Emma Trill and Linda Watt also on target putting the ball into the back of the net in a 6-0 win. 2 games left for Garston Ladies 6 points off top spot mathematically not out of the title race yet but certainly can push for a top 3 finish.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

The bottom 4 sides in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two all played each other this Sunday all looking to move up the table in their final games. Garston Ladies FC 96 were in 5th were hosting bottom side Evergreen Ladies, a brace from Jade Roberts taking her to 19 goals for the season seeing Garston win the match 2-1, Natalie Maher scoring for Evergreen. The win guarantees Garston a top half finish as they move into 4th position above Hitchin Belles with 2 games yet could yet secure a top 2 finish in the table.

2nd bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets move 4 points clear of bottom side Evergreen Ladies as they won at home on Sunday against Royston Town Ladies Reserves. Charlotte Demmon scoring her 12 goal of the season put Woburn into the lead as early as the 3rd minute the single goal enough to secure all 3 points.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, Crawley Green Ladies were hosting Potters Bar United Ladies, both playing their final game of the season a few sides lost to the league this season not had as much action on the field as they would have liked. Potters Bar United new to the league this season took the lead late in the 1st half. Crawley Green came back to level early in the 2nd half Samantha Joiner with the goal in the 51st minute. Into the last 10 minutes of the game and Potters Bar United went on to score what would prove to be the winning goal the 2-1 result seeing both sides end on 12 points 4th and 5th respectfully.

The Chris Renshaw Trophy

Two quarter final ties played in The Chris Renshaw Trophy this Sunday with the sides at the time top two in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One in action. Sandy Ladies were hosting fellow Division One side Letchworth Garden City Eagles, drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes the game headed into extra-time Sandy Ladies scoring again in the extra period of play to win the game 2-1 to advance into the semi-finals of the competition their goals scored by Kirstie Gavin and Amber Williams. Amy Atsma on target for Letchworth.

Sandy Ladies opponents in the semi-finals of The Chris Renshaw Trophy will be St Albans Ladies, 2nd in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One going into the game. Were away to Division Two side Hitchin Belles. Having not played in 3 weeks St Albans had been saving up a few goals, Ellie Lovelock top scoring in the match netting a hat-trick, their was also a brace each for Sophie Monahan and Suzanne Reid with Katie Grehan also getting a goal in an 8-1 win to see them into the semi-finals. Emily Field scoring the goal for Hitchin Belles. The other quarter-finals to be decided.

FAWPL – Sunday 9th April

FAWPL Southern Division

With three quarters of their league games played FAWPL Southern Division leaders, Tottenham Hotspur Ladies are looking in good shape to win the title as they continue their unbeaten league form and two of their rivals meeting at the weekend drop points.

It was a trip to the South Coast for Tottenham this Sunday taking on Portsmouth FC Ladies, Wendy Martin heading the ball into the back of the net inside the opening 15 minutes to give them the lead. Kelley Blanchflower doubling Tottenham’s advantage just past the half hour mark, took control of the match leading 3-0 at half-time Bianca Baptiste scoring in with 4 minutes of the 1st half left. Portsmouth pulled a goal back to make it 3-1 10 minutes into the 2nd half with captain Gemma Hillier on target, Tottenham responded quickly restoring their 3 goal cushion just 3 minutes later Lucia Leon with the goal, 4-1 the final score the win putting Tottenham 4 points clear of 2nd placed Charlton Athletic Women who have played 3 games more, are now 8 points ahead of 3rd placed Cardiff City Ladies and 10 clear of 4th placed Coventry United who both like Tottenham have played 15.

Charlton Athletic Women keep up the pressure in 2nd also winning away on the South Coast this Sunday a trip to The Dripping Pan to play who were unbeaten in 4 matches in league and cup. The sides contesting a goalless 1st half striker Gemma Shepherd was introduced from the bench in the 71st minute and gave Charlton the lead 4 minutes later one goal was quickly followed by 2 with Kit Graham moving onto 33 for the season scoring in the 79th minute to help secure the 3 points.

It was 3rd versus 4th in the FAWPL Southern Division as Cardiff City Ladies travelled to Pack Meadow to play Coventry United Ladies both sides needing the 3 points to keep up the pace with the top two in the division. It was the visitors who held the advantage going into half-time leading 1-0. The score was doubled early in the 2nd half. Coventry United responded quickly to reduce the deficit Alison Hall making it 2-1 left it late for find an equaliser was worth waiting for however a superb strike from Laura Cooper from outside the box into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. The points shared in the end doesn’t neither any favours.

A big win at home for Crystal Palace Ladies as they look to secure a top 5 finish in the FAWPL Southern Division following promotion last season. Have switched to a new home ground for their remaining home games a familiar one to FAWSL fans, Beckenham Town FC formerly home of Watford Ladies. Settled it quickly taking on C&K Basildon Ladies, Sarah Jones putting Crystal Place into the lead in the 4th minute. Mary Robinson doubling the score 5 minutes later before Gemma Bryan (pictured) netted her 1st of the game to see the home side leading 3-0 inside the opening 15 minutes. 3-0 the lead going into the 2nd half Crystal Place continued to dominate eventually extending their lead inside the last 15 minutes Bryan adding a 2nd goal before completing her hat-trick with 3 minutes left to play taking her to 26 for the season the 5-0 victory opening up a 6th point gap between themselves and 6th placed Lewes Ladies.

FAWPL South East Division One

In FAWPL South East Division One a similar story is unfolding at the top of the table with Gillingham FC Ladies now opening up a 7 point lead at the top as they continue their unbeaten lead campaign away to closest rivals 2nd placed Milton Keynes Dons Ladies at the weekend. The run stretching to 7 matches now. Felicity Gibbons put the visitors into the lead at Newport Pagnell FC just past the half hour mark of the 1st half. Defender Vanisha Patel making it 2-0 to Gillingham scoring 5 minutes into the 2nd half. Held on for all 3 points as Milton Keynes pulled a goal back late into the 2nd half, Heather McDonnell firing in a free-kick.

AFC Wimbledon Ladies take advantage of rivals Milton Keynes Dos Ladies loss to climb above them in the South East Division One table into 2nd, were at home on Sunday playing Enfield Town Ladies. Were leading 1-0 at the break thanks to a Kelly-Jade Whelan goal in the 14th minute, Rebecca Sargent doubled the lead 10 minutes into the 2nd half a 4 minute brace from winger Katie Stanley seeing the points secured netting in the 1st and 75th minute the final score 4-0.

Cambridge United WFC keep up the pressure on the sides above them as winning away from home this Sunday. The 4th placed side travelling once again to the Suffolk Coast to play bottom side Lowestoft Town Ladies having arrived there earlier in the season only to see the match called off due to a waterlogged pitch. No chance of that this Sunday the hottest of the year to date. With the score looking to be 0-0 at the break full back Emma Jenkins (pictured) got forwards to score a fabulous goal from outside the box striking the ball sending it into the top corner to give Cambridge the lead. The 3 points were finally secured as the game moved into the final 10 minutes, striker Sarah Wiltshire heading the ball home from inside the box. Games in hand on the 2nd and 3rd placed sides a 3 point gap between them.

3 points further back from Cambridge United WFC are 5th placed Actonians Ladies were away to 6th placed Luton Town Ladies this Sunday the visitors going in front early in the game Melissa Jung with the goal in the 7th minute. A brace from Alessandra Barreca scoring in the 22nd and 31st minute had Actonians leading comfortably by half-time. Defending a 3-0 lead in the 2nd half Luton Town managed to pull a goal back in the final 10 minute Amy Summerfield on target, however winning 3-1 Actonians open up a 5 point gap over Luton.

At the other end of the South East Division One table 2nd bottom side Norwich City Ladies have plenty of matches left in which to save themselves from the drop, need to convert those games into points however with a 6 point gap to 3rd bottom side Stevenage Ladies who travelled to Plantation Park with a few 1st team regulars missing. The gap between them remains 6 points both adding to their tally contesting a goalless draw.

Beds & Herts – Sunday 2nd April

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Sandy Ladies have been leading or near the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One all season moved back level on points with leaders St Albans Ladies last weekend. This Sunday they went 3 points clear at the top and put themselves in pole position to win the title. At home to bottom side Hitchin Town Ladies were held to a goalless draw by the visitors at half-time. 2nd half they found the back of their opponents net Kirstie Gavin, Amber Williams and Chloe Reeves all scoring to see Sandy win 3-0, Rachael Jones red carded for Hitchin Town. 2 games left to play win them both and Sandy Ladies can’t be caught.

One of their remaining games however is against 4th placed Bishops Stortford Ladies who lay 6 points off the lead but with 3 games left could get 36 points if they won them all. Gave their goal difference a massive boost too on Sunday with a big win away to Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Top scorer, Kathryn Stanley netting a hat-trick making it 19 goals for the season. Lauren Maynard, Brogan McHale, Brooke White and Rosee Golding also scoring the final score 7-0.

Another side who can yet claim 36 points is 3rd placed Sherrardswood Ladies closing the gap at the top jointing 2nd placed St Albans Ladies on 30 points winning away from home against Houghton Athletic Ladies this Sunday. Goals from Katy Jones and Francesca Novelli along with an opposition own goal seeing them win 3-1. Ciara Craig with her 9th goal of the season scoring for Houghton Athletic.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

The 4th side in the East celebrating league title success this weekend were Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues, new to Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this season winning the league at the 1st attempt. A 100% winning record too with 9 wins from 9 with one game left to play can’t be caught. Were away from home on Sunday playing Crawley Green Ladies. Both sides short of players it was Woburn & Wavendon who held the advantage at half-time leading 2-0. Crawley Green puled a goal back through Nina Service her 14th of the season 2 minutes into the 2nd half. Woburn & Wavendon went on to restore their 2 goal lead 15 minutes into the 2nd half, Crawley Green again reduced the deficit Kirsty Morley netting the goal however the visitors held on to the 3-2 lead to win and claim the league title. Jade Matthews Amy Gibbins and Casey Chapman with the goals. Congratulations to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues on winning the title.

Beds & Herts The Chris Renshaw Trophy

One tie remaining from the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Trophy played this Sunday a new competition introduced by the Beds & Herts Women’s Football League this season, Division Three side Shefford Town & Campton Ladies hosting Flitwick Ladies from Division Two. Goals from Sky Evans and Kierra Gabriel seeing the high league side into the quarter final this coming Sunday where they will be at home to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues.

Essex – Sunday 2nd April

Essex Women’s Premier Division

Formed last season Harlow Town Ladies were an unstoppable force in Essex Women’s Division One last season storming to the title with a 100% winning record. Promoted to the Essex Women’s Premier Division their form has been no less irresistible as they continued their 100% league winning record to clinch their 2nd successive title winning the league with 4 games to spare. Not a trace of nerves either as they took on 4th placed Runwell Sports Ladies away from home wracking up a double figure score line winning 10-0. Will no doubt be looking to reach the end of the season with that 100% record in tack. Congratulations to Harlow Town Ladies a fantastic achievement.

Lawford Ladies had been at the top of the Premier Division for much of the early season eventually overtaken by Harlow Town Ladies they are nevertheless enjoying a strong season moved 6 points clear in 2nd place at the weekend winning away from home against 7th placed Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies collecting the 3 points courtesy of a 6-2 victory their 12th in the league this season and look in good shape to clinch the runners-up spot with 6 games left to play.

6th placed Eastern Avenue were away to Chigwell Ladies this Sunday a win would have take them up above Collier Row Tigers into 5th place instead it was the hosts who moved up a place into 8th in the Premier Division table as Chigwell edged the win 3-2 to collect the 3 points.

At the bottom of the Premier Division table it was a six pointer between bottom side Walden Ladies hosted Alresford Colne Rangers immediately above them 2 points the gap between the sides so it remained after the 90 minutes as the pair drew the game 2-2.

Essex Women’s Division One

Corringham Cosmos had been leading Essex Women’s Division One right up until last Sunday when not in action they were overtaken by Frontiers Ladies who took over at the top on goal difference. Corringham well an truly wiped that goal difference out at the weekend winning heavily at home to return 3 points clear at the top, hosting 2nd bottom side Benfleet Villa Ladies piled on the goals winning 20-1.

Collier Row Athletic move 3 points clear in 3rd place in the Division One table winning at home against Chelmsford City Ladies on Sunday despite goals for Emily Kendle and Megan Hunter for the visitors Collier Row Athletic won the 3 points scoring 4 goals on their way to victory.

A heavy defeat away from home for Benfleet Villa Ladies presented a chance for Waltham Forest Ladies to do something they’ve never done yet move off the bottom of the Division One table were in buoyant mood following there 1st ever point then league win to move onto 4 points even got a new twitter account, follow them at @WFL_FC were on their travels this weekend playing Wickford Town Ladies Reserves just 2 points ahead of them in 9th. Despite scoring twice however Waltham Forest remain bottom of the table as Wickford Town won the game 4-2, Autumn Ranger scoring twice in the game with a goal each for Gemma Graham and Grace Francis.

Tiptree & District Women’s Charity Cup

Chelmsford City Ladies 3rd in the Essex Women’s Premier Division were playing Division One leaders Frontiers Ladies in the quarter finals of the Tiptree & District Women’s Charity Cup this Sunday. Frontiers had the bare 11 available for the game and found themselves trailing 1-0 after 15 minutes Lisa Overall scoring for Chelmsford City, held the narrow lead going into the half-time break. 2nd half Frontiers rallied chances created however Chelmsford wren’t giving up the lead easily. Into the 84th minute and Frontiers drew the scores level Kay Foy sending the ball into the back of the net, the 90 minutes up the game headed into extra-time. Frontiers winning a corner in the 98th minute the ball played to the far post was put over the goal line by Jill Bartholomew to see Frontiers take the lead holding onto the advantage to make it into the last 4 of the competition where they will be away to Lawford Ladies. Harlow Town Ladies play Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies at home in the other semi-final.

Cambridgeshire – Sunday 2nd April

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

New leader in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this weekend as Netherton United Ladies go top of the table for the 1st time this season on goal difference over Newmarket Town Ladies without kicking a ball. Were due to play Bar Hill Ladies at home when their opponents pulled out of the fixture they were awarded the home win, with dates to get fixtures in running out.

With Newmarket Town Ladies not playing this weekend and 3rd placed Cambridge United WFC Reserves in cup action it gave Cambridge University Women in 4th place a chance to close the gap on the top 3 playing away to ICA Sports Ladies. All of the visitors goals coming in the 2nd half Taylor Lynn-Jones scoring on 67 minutes. Amanda Wainwright netted a brace with a goal from Ceylon Hickman squeezed in between her goals. Megan Purnell scoring for ICA Sports Ladies, Cambridge University winning 4-1 move onto 18 points 1 behind Cambridge United WFC and 6 off the leading pair. Have games in hand on both Netherton United and Newmarket very much involved in the title battle.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup

Cambridge United WFC Reserves had already booked their place in this season’s League Cup Final were vying for a place in the Women’s Junior Invitation Cup Final this Sunday defending the trophy were at home to Championship North side Wisbech Town Ladies who they beat in last season’s final. A goal from Liz Pamplin along with a double for Teonie Peyton sealing a 3-1 victory for Cambridge United WFC to see them into yet another final. Kimberly Fairweather scoring the goal for Wisbech Town. An all Cambridge final in the Junior Invitation Cup their opponents Cambridge City Ladies new Development side who were also celebrating this weekend (I’ll get onto that in a bit) The Final to be played Weds 13th April further details to follow.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North, league leaders, March Town United Ladies maintained their unbeaten record in a high scoring win away to Swineshead Institute Ladies on Sunday. Livvi Hodges putting the visitors into the lead inside the opening 2 minutes. Swineshead didn’t take long to get back on level terms Kirsty Hewitt making it 1-1. Hodges was on target to restore March’s lead however the sides went into the changing rooms all square at the break, Ellie Spendlow scoring to make it 2-2 for Swineshead just before the half-time whistle.

Swineshead took the lead for the 1st time in the game in the opening minute of the 2nd half Spendlow netting her 2nd of the game. March didn’t take long to respond Hodges completing her hat-trick pulling the sides level again then found the back of the net again from a free-kick to make it 4-3. Gemma Ramsey scoring her 1st ever competitive goal for March extended the lead to 5-3. Pressing for more goals March were then awarded a penalty Shannon Kelly stepping up to score then in the final 10 minutes Pollyanna Harvey a new signing for march from Wisbech St Marys Ladies headed the ball home to complete a 7-3 win. March and Swineshead meet again this coming Sunday in the reverse fixture a 7 point lead at the top of March Town United now unbeaten in 10 games.

The Championship North table looks a bit different from last week as it has since been adjusted for points awarded as home or away wins earlier in the season one of those for Wisbech St Mary Ladies who were in 7th previously a win away from home on Sunday seeing them up to 2nd with 3 further points added to their season’s total. Away to Ketton Ladies this weekend picked up a great result away from home to move above 4th placed Ketton courtesy of a 4-0 away win.

Boston United Ladies move up to 5th in the Championship North table after the weekends results were on their travels playing Hungate Rovers Ladies this Sunday. New signing Tracey Duxbury-Mead scored twice in the game taking her on 4 goals from 3 appearances. Ella Marie Mcororey and Stephanie Powell also getting a goal each as Boston United ran out 4-1 winners. Katy Walkey scoring the goal for Hungate Rovers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South

Cambridge City Ladies Development side clinched the Cambridgeshire Championship South title with 3 games left to play in their 1st season together this weekend and having reached the Junior Invitation Cup Final could yet be celebrating a league and cup double. Won at home on Sunday taking on Cambridge Rangers a brace for Megan Tonks along with a goal a piece for Erin Fox, India Duffy and Anna Wilson seeing them to a 5-0 win. Congratulations to Cambridge City Ladies on their title success.

Plenty of goals too elsewhere in the Championship South as Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves climbed back into 2nd above Milton Ladies winning at home against bottom side Orton Rangers Ladies. Winning the match 6-0 they had 6 different names on the scoresheet. Captain Joeli Kirby, Dominika Szary, Hollie Turner, Siobhan White, Yasmin Woodfield and Elicia Cooper.

8 goal were shared between Isleham United Ladies and Milton Ladies on Sunday both having to settle for a share of the points too drawing the game 4-4! At home Isleham United had for different goalscorers, with Vicky Beeton, Amy Ellis, Rachael Turner and Laura Todd all finding the back of the net for Milton Carly Dawson scored along with another hat-trick for Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks taking her to 28 goals for the season from just 9 appearances.

Fulbourn Bluebirds move up to 4th in the Championship South table after they were awarded the home win against Riverside Reserves.

Suffolk Women’s Division – Sunday 2nd April

3 games in the Suffolk Women’s Division and Ipswich Town Ladies new Development side are on the threshold of clinching the league title at the 1st attempt 2 matches left to play 6 points clear of 2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies a point is all they require now from those final 2 games. Made it 12 games unbeaten in the league with a comfortable away win on Sunday against bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. 3 players scoring a brace in the match, Sian Cottrell, Jennifer Purbrook and Emily Steward. A goal each too for Sophie Leming and Jennifer Gray the final score 8-0. A league and cup double very much on with the League Cup Final coming up next on Weds 13th April at Hadleigh FC a 7:30pm kick-off.

2nd placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies are keeping up the pressure on leaders Ipswich Town won at the weekend but were pushed all the way by by opponents Bacton United Ladies eventually edging the result by the odd goal in 9! Away from home Walsham Le Willows held a 3-1 lead at half-time. Bacton United scoring 3 more goals in the 2nd half, not enough as Walsham Le Willows hit the back of their opponents net twice more to win 5-4. A brace from Lois Balfour along with a goal each for Lauren Jacobs and Maria Walker for Bacton United. Laura Brame and Kirsty Pollard with a goal each for Walsham Le Willows with Gemma Carter scoring a hat-trick.

Also a win at home on Sunday for 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies , playing Copleston Ladies won the match 4-1 with Kirsten Hutchings scoring all 4 of their goals. Copleston short on numbers ending the game with 9 on the pitch Sophie crane scoring their goal.

Norfolk – Sunday 2nd April

Norfolk Women’s Division One

Bungay Town Ladies made the journey west across the county to play league leaders King’s Lynn Town Ladies this Sunday the sides were level drawing 1-1 at half-time. 4th placed Bungay Town Ladies unbeaten in 2017 were looking to move to within a point of King’s Lynn Town then went on to take a 3-1 lead in the 2nd half before King’s Lynn Town came back to score twice themselves the sides having to settle for a point a piece final score 3-3. A brace for Lacey Andrews along with a goal for Jessica May Keeling for Bungay Town. Josie Turner, Shelley Woods and Millie Hopkisson netting the goals for King’s Lynn Town.

King’s Lynn Town Ladies draw allowed Thorpe United Ladies to return to the top of the table by a point as they won big at home against Fakenham Town Ladies this Sunday, hat-tricks for both Rebekah Lake and Shanice Sutton. Leading 4-0 at half-time reached double figures in the 2nd half winning 11-0 their other goalscorers, Laura Hedtke, Sophie Jermy, Vivian Mayo, Kirstie Andrews and Nicole Read.

Brandon Town Ladies have found themselves a little bit of form unbeaten now in 4 league games including a 3rd successive league win this Sunday have scored 13 goals in their last 2 matches a 5-1 midweek away win against Aylsham FC Ladies followed by a comfortable 8-0 result away to bottom side Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies at the weekend.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

4 league titles were decided across the county leagues in the East this weekend the 1st of those in Norfolk in Women’s Division Two, Gorleston FC Ladies have been unstoppable this season as 11th straight league win giving them the points they needed to ensure they could no longer be caught winning at home against 3rd placed Long Stratton to secure a 2nd successive promotion. Samantha Hunn scoring a hat-trick in the match. Leanne Smith getting a brace with a goal each for, Beth Turner, Hannah Croft and Kayleigh Byrne. Congratulations to Gorleston FC Ladies.

Also in Division Two Briston Wanderers Ladies were hosting Bohemians Ladies the hosts with just the 10 players available doing the damage in the 1st half going into a 3-0 lead with goals from Tara Curtis her 1st for the club, Emma Talmadge and a strike from halfway from Stacey High. Bohemians pulled a goal back in the 2nd half Nicola Sheldrake the scorer, Briston winning 3-1.

Norfolk Ladies League Plate

Briston Wanderers Ladies should have been playing in the semi-finals of the Norfolk Ladies Plate competition this Sunday but struggling for numbers fell foul of the rule that required players to have played 5 league games, before a cup semi-final having only played 8 games Briston hadn’t the number and were forced to concede the win awarded to King’s Lynn Town Ladies who are into their 1st ever cup final.

In the other Ladies Plate semi-final, Division Three side Tavern Ladies were hosting Sprowston Ladies from Division Two. The visitors booking their place in the final after leading 2-0 at half-time doubling the advantage 2nd half with goals from Rebecca Kirby, Victoria Leyer, Rebecca Russell and Nicole Smith.

ERWFL Cup

It was semi-finals day in both the ERWFL’s Cup and Plate competitions this Sunday. In the ERWFL Cup the 2 semi-finals featured 4 sides having fantastic season’s at the top of both Division’s with both games featuring a Premier Division side against Division One opposition. AFC Dunstable Ladies 3rd in the Premier Division were hosting Division One leaders, Cambridge City Ladies at Creasey Park. Looking good to secure the Division One title at the 1st time of asking following promotion last season Cambridge City came through a tough contest to win the game 2-0 to set up a potential league and cup double the goals from Bella Simmons her 21st of a prolific season and a 25 yard free kick from Bronte Rapley.

Cambridge City however aren’t the only side looking to make it a league and cup double in the ERWFL as Haringey Borough Women currently 2nd in the Premier Division table reached the final of the League Cup knocking out a spirited Wymondham Town Ladies side. 3rd in ERWFL Division One it was home side Wymondham Town who took the lead in the semi-final Laura Wiseman with the goal. Haringey Borough levelled the scores before the break going on to find 3 more goals in the 2nd half to win the game 4-1, Wymondham striking the crossbar twice. A brace for both Anele Komani and Julia Carruthers. The date for the final Sunday 14th May, venue to be confirmed will update via twitter once all the details are confirmed promises to be a cracker.

ERWFL Premier Division

With ERWFL Premier Division leaders Bedford Ladies having played out their fixtures and both 2nd and 3rd placed Haringey Borough and AFC Dunstable involved in the League Cup, Acle United Ladies took another step closer to catching up with the leading trio taking on bottom side Histon Ladies at home this Sunday. Goals from Kate Pasque and Bryony Knights seeing the hosts to a 2-1 victory that moves them up into 4th position in the table. Have 4 games left know if they win them all they will finish top of the table, you know the scenario so I won’t explain it again, an exciting if nail-biting end to the season beckons.

AFC Sudbury Ladies finished their league season away to Royston Town Ladies, 4th going into the match a single goal was enough to see the hosts claim the 3 points, the goalscorer, Grace Leslie. Promoted last season, Royston Town have found their feet in the Premier Division. AFC Sudbury end their campaign on 31 points, flirted with the title chasers all season much of the time in 4th will finish no lower than 6th once the rest have played out.

Billericay Town Ladies are the side that can overhaul them should they win their final league game of the season. Were at home this Sunday hosting local rivals Brentwood Town Ladies. Goals from Sarah Bovington, Katie Whitehead and captain Lindsey Morgan securing a 3-0 win in their penultimate league match at home to AFC Dunstable Ladies this coming Sunday.

ERWFL Plate

Colney Heath Ladies are through to the ERWFL Plate final awarded a home win in the semi-finals after opponents Ipswich Wanderers Ladies hit by injuries weren’t able to field a side. A 3rd successive final appearance in the Plate competition in its various guises with 2 losses previously Colney Heath having secured a top 2 finish in Division One this season will be hoping it’s 3rd time lucky.

Their opponents in the ERWFL Plate final will be Essex side, Hutton Ladies after they overcame opponents Stevenage Ladies Reserves in extra-time to secure their place in the final. At home with just 11 players available were down to 10 during the match two the scores were level at 2-2 after the 90 minutes, Hannah Marshall and Leah Littlechild on target for Stevenage. Hutton went on to find the winning goal in extra-time 3-2 the final score, Laura Allen netting herself a brace with Hayley Critchell also getting a goal. The League Plate and Cup Finals have been played one after the other on the same day recently and I am assuming that will be the case this time around but again will keep everyone posted.

ERWFL Division One

In ERWFL their was the one league game played on Sunday with Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies hosting Hertford Town Ladies both sides playing their final league game of the season both looking to end on a high. It was Hertford Town who were celebrating at the final whistle edging the win 2-1 with goals from Dee Gilbert and Freya Rampley. The win moving them up from 10th to 7th in the Division One table took them a while to find their feet at the higher level following promotion last season but ended the season with some good results in a good position to push on next season. Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies end the campaign with 22 points currently 9th have a talented group of players will be a little frustrated that they haven’t picked up more points.

Silver End United Ladies were awarded the home win after opponents Offley & Stopsley Women couldn’t field a team this Sunday the 3 point lifting the Essex side above them into 4th spot in the Division One table.

FAWPL Southern Division

It has been a hotly contested battle at the top of the FAWPL Southern Division all season with 4 sides all in contention for the title, Tottenham Hotspur Ladies for the majority of the season have been the pace setters the only unbeaten side in the with just the one match drawn and 12 wins. Cardiff City Ladies and Charlton Athletic Women have led the table at times in 2nd and 3rd with Coventry United Ladies in 4th also keeping things bunched up at the top, into April and some big matches coming up as the top 4 face each other.

Coventry United Ladies travelled to Cheshunt FC on Sunday to play leaders Tottenham Hotspur Ladies looking to reduce the gap between the sides to 2 points move up one or two places. A goalless 1st half between the sides the was deadlock broken 18 minutes into the 2nd half, manager Karen Hills bringing Nikita Whinnett on in the 67th minute made an immediate impact the substitute scoring 20 seconds after coming on to hand Tottenham the lead. The 3 points secured as the game moving into the final 10 minutes Bianca Baptiste putting Whinnett’s cross into the back of the net the win seeing Tottenham go 4 points clear at the top 8 ahead of Coventry United now both with 6 matches left to play.

Charlton Athletic Women move up from 3rd above Cardiff City into 2nd winning away from home against Portsmouth FC Ladies on Sunday. Rosey Sullivan opening the scoring for the visitors 20 minutes into the 1st half captain Kim Dixson doubling the advantage 5 minutes later. Charlton Athletic held the 2-0 advantage before Kit Graham with her 32nd goal of the season made the 3 points secure scoring in the 80th minute.

6th placed Lewes Ladies extend their unbeaten run to 4 games in league and cup as they scored a late equaliser away to 5th placed Crystal Palace Ladies. Gemma Bryan with her 23rd goal of the season handing Crystal Palace the lead late in the 1st half. Held onto the lead for most of the 2nd half, Lewes, Rebecca Carter finding the back of the net to make it all square at 1-1 in the 86th minute to take a point home as they look to secure a top half finish in their 4 remaining league games.

FAWPL South East Division One

Gillingham FC Ladies are proving to be an unstoppable force at the top of FAWPL South East Division One as they extended their unbeaten league record to 16 matches including 11 straight wins. Were hosting Stevenage Ladies this Sunday. Rosie Kmita opened the scoring for the hosts, had a chance to extend their lead from the spot, Stevenage goalkeeper, Katherine Long saving Felicity Gibbons spot kick. Didn’t take Gillingham long to make it 2-0, Charlotte Gurr in blistering from in front of goal since rejoining the club went on to complete a hat-trick taking her to 32 goals from 14 appearances. A 5th goal came in the form of a Stevenage own goal. Substitute Emma Slater netting an injury time consolation goal for the visitors in a 5-1 defeat. The result seeing Gillingham open up a 5 point lead at the top of the table.

3rd placed AFC Wimbledon Ladies at home to 5th placed Actonians Ladies on Sunday found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break after Jessica Byrne had scored in the 1st half for the visitors. Captain, Jess Trimnell scored in the 66th minute to pull the hosts level, a win would have lifted Wimbledon into 2nd spot in the end the two sides had to settle for a share of the points.

4th placed Cambridge United WFC hadn’t won in the league in 2017 just the 3 games in that time with extended cup runs in between. A win this Sunday would put them back in touch with the top 3 sides in the table and they had an extra incentive to get the win as they were getting a 2nd opportunity to play at The Abbey Stadium, home of League Two side Cambridge United FC. Were hosting Ipswich Town Ladies who lay in 9th place in the table. Cambridge got off to a bright start taking the lead in the 10th minute, Sarah Wiltshire returning to football just over a month after giving birth to baby daughter Alexa-Rose working her way back to match fitness in preparation for a new season with FAWSL 1 side Yeovil Town Ladies sending the ball into the back of the net off the post to make it 1-0. Both sides were using the wings and finding space in behind, Ipswich levelled the scores with 10 minutes of the 1st half left, Amy Howlett driving forwards playing the ball into striker Laura Guyon who laid the ball on for Howlett to burst into the area and send the ball over Cambridge goalkeeper, Verity Crook into the back of the net.

Cambridge went on to have the better of the 2nd half a little flat from Ipswich conceding a corner the ball played of a defender at the near post fell into the six yard box the ball was stabbed over the line captain Laura Bright restoring Cambridge’s lead. 20 minutes left a free-kick for Cambridge, Wiltshire from the left outside the box went for goal sending the ball looping over the keeper and in then straight from the restart Wiltshire completed her hat-trick playing through on goal by Ashleigh Deacon fired home from the edge of the box 4-1 the final score. Cambridge United WFC 4-1 Ipswich Town Ladies

In the final match in the weekend played in the FAWPL South East Division One, Norwich City Ladies were hosting Denham United Ladies at Plantation Park. Goals for Lauren Cox and Clarice Gould seeing the visitors win the game 2-0 the 3 points taking Denham United above Enfield Town Ladies into 7th spot in the table.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

Just the two matches played in Norfolk this weekend, with no action there was a game in both the Division’s below. In Division Two, Stalham Town Ladies have found a rich vein of form unbeaten now in 5 league games winning the last 4 in a row the latest victory coming away from home this Sunday as the 3rd placed side travelled to Manor Road to play 2nd placed Long Stratton Ladies. A brace from Amber Mayhew along with a goal each for Millie Cursons and new signing Vicki Lubbock joining from Briston Wanderers seeing Stalham Tow win the game 4-1 toe 3 points moving them into 2nd place above Long Stratton on goal difference their goal scored by Sophie Rose.

Norfolk Women’s Division Three

In Division Three it was 3rd versus 4th as Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves hosted Tavern Ladies, both sides with games in hand on leaders East Coast Ladies it was Wymondham who held the advantage early on going 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes with goals from Hannah Claughton and Sally Hammerton. Tavern got it back to 2-1 before half-time Rianna Stott with the goal. 2nd half and Stott found the back of the net for a 2nd time to equalise for Tavern and see the sides share the points. Both still in the hunt for the title face each other again in two weeks in what will be a crucial match in determining where the title might head.
