The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Sixteen

Let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year and all the very best for 2016 in your football and beyond. A new year and after a short break over the festive period The Tuesday Round-Up is back and the timing couldn’t be perfect as we start the year with Edition Sixteen, blind luck I assure you. However as great as it is good to back writing up The Tuesday Round-Up this edition is going to be the shortest one I have ever written a reduced fixture list any way with 99.9% of the County League’s not resuming till the 10th January it was just the FAWPL and ERWFL sides in action + the one county league match. 23 fixtures in all, of course you’d have hardly missed the weather has been abysmal these past few.. well months really and a lot of rain fell over the festive period grounds are already soaked wouldn’t take much to tip them over the edge and we had alot of rain on Saturday so much so that just 4 fixtures survived across the entire schedule. One match is all we need for The Tuesday Round-Up so let’s get on with it.

FAWPL Southern Division

  Only one match survived the weather in the FAWPL Southern Division with Coventry United Ladies playing on a 3G surface, were 5th in the table going into the match hosting bottom side Plymouth Argyle Ladies. Recorded a huge win to lift them up to 3rd in the table and give their goal difference a massive boost too. Coventry were 3-0 up at the break a goal from Nikki Miles sandwiched between 2 for Ashleigh Neville, who went on to complete her hat-tick early in the 2nd half added a 4th on 60 minutes. Helen Dermody also got in on the scoring act scoring a 2nd half hat-tick herself. Marie Gauntlett bagged herself a goal in the 2nd half to with a brace from Amber Hughes late on to make the final score 11-0. Up to 3rd Coventry bow have 30 points 11 behind leaders Brighton & Hove Albion WFC, still very much in the hunt for the title as they have 3 games in hand on the leaders. 

Eastern Regional Leagues

   Two matches survived the weather in the ERWFL both in the premier Division although the weather conditions for both games were terrible. With leaders Stevenage Ladies match getting called off, 2nd placed Billericay Town Ladies had the chance to retake top spot if they could secure 3 points against their opponents Acle United Ladies. With their usual home pitch unplayable they switched to a 3G surface at John Hornsby High School in Basildon early on wanting to get the game under their belts. Acle United Ladies too needed the game had played just the one competitive match since the start of November 2015. With the fixture confirmed this was where the Supporting Women’s Football Blogs featured match came from. 

   The weather was awful heavy rain falling a strong wind occasionally gusty blowing across the pitch, both sides looked to get on the ball keep in on the ground, Billericay Town pushing Acle United back early on. Got the break through midweek through the 2nd half striker Paris Smith being put in clear inside the box right of goal to score sending her shot across the keeper and into the back of the net. 6 minutes later and Billericay doubled their lead Paris Smith going through on goal again sending this shot over the keepers head and in. Acle United regrouped 2nd half and in a much more even 45 tried hard to pull a goal back to get themselves back into the match Joanne Hooper coming closest her strike from outside the box beating the keeper but coming back out off the inside of the post. Billericay Town won 2-0 to go back to the top of the league have played 2 games more that Stevenage Ladies but crucially have to play them twice. Billericay Town Ladies v Acle United Ladies 03/01/16

  AFC  Sudbury Ladies are 3 points clear in 3rd spot in the table 7 points back from leaders Billericay Town Ladies after winning their 6th match of the season. This one on grass another wet and cold affair as they travelled over to play Great Shelford Ladies. Won the match 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick scored by Stacey Teager with the other goal scored by defender Rebecca Thrower.

Norfolk

Just the one County League match taking place across the entire eastern region this Sunday in Norfolk Women’s Division Two, Bungay Town Ladies Reserves hosting title chasing Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies who are still unbeaten with a 100% in the league so far this season. Another 3 points for Kirkley & Pakefield and they would regain the lead from title rivals North Walsham Angels Ladies. Won’t be surprised to hear it was another wet and muddy match. was all square at the break 2-2 before Kirkley & Pakefield went on to score another 5 goals in the match 2nd half, Bungay Town Ladies Reserves found the net once more the final score 7-3 to Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies, Selina Rowland scoring 4 times along with a brace from Nikki Wigg plus an OG. Alice Cheverton, Emily Coe and Eva Evans scoring for Bungay Town Ladies Reserves.

Told you it was going to be short, hope the next edition of The Tuesday Round-Up can bring you more action the games are beginning to stack up, need to be played, but the ground is saturated needs to dry up the rain needs to hold off for a spell early January it is a concern right across the East. The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Fourteen

On Friday night rounding up all this weekends women’s football fixtures across the East, Edition Fourteen of The Tuesday Round-Up looked like it was going to be one of the most jam packed yet with some very tasty looking clashes spread right across 65 fixtures, however the penultimate Edition of 2015 saw those fixtures almost halved as games right across the region fell victim to the heavy band of rain that fell across the country on Saturday, soaking already damp ground fixtures were lost in every league from the FAWPL Southern Division all the way down to county level with every league seeing postponements as the fixtures needing to be caught up on in the New Year start to pile up for alot of teams. Half of the fixtures did survive of course and that means there is still plenty to bring you so let’s get Edition Fourteen of The Tuesday Round-Up started.

FAWPL Southern Division

     Brighton & Hove Albion WFC regained top spot in the FAWPL Southern Division last Sunday in front of a record breaking crowd at the Amex Stadium beating then leaders Charlton Athletic Women 2-0. With both 2nd placed Charlton and 3rd placed Cardiff City Ladies seeing their fixtures fall foul of the wet weather, Brighton & Hove Albion WFC had the opportunity to extend their lead at the top as they hosted bottom side Plymouth Argyle Ladies who have only won the 1 league game all season that back on the 20th September. Were 1-0 down at the break Charlotte Gurr scoring late in the 1st half to give Brighton the advantage. That was the scoreline as the match went into injury time after the 90 had been played, then up stepped Lisa Fulgence coming on as an 84th minute substitute returning from a long term injury lay off. Marked her return to action for the 1st team with a quick fire brace scoring 2 goals in 2 minutes in injury time to seal a 3-0 victory for Brighton and move them 6 points clear of their rivals at the top of the FAWPL Southern Division.

Portsmouth Ladies won their 3rd consecutive league match in a row to move right up onto the tails of Cardiff and Charlton. Were hosting Tottenham Hotspur Ladies this weekend the visitors scoring on the 18th minute Jenna Schillaci putting the ball into the back of the next, Portsmouth pulled the scores level 3 minutes before half-time Ini Umotong scoring. Wasn’t until the 80th minute before the home side took the lead Lucy Quinn with the goal the lead 3-1, 4 minutes later as Sarah Kempson got herself on the score sheet. Schillaci netted again for Tottenham late on it wasn’t enough as Portsmouth held out for the 3-2 consolidating 4th spot going into Christmas.

  It was a clash of the newly promoted sides to the division at Canvey Island FC with C&K Basildon Ladies hosting Forest Green Rovers Ladies. Have had contrasting starts to life in the top division in the winter football pyramid. A good start to their league campaign saw C&K Basildon Ladies pick up useful early points, since then results have varied they lay in mid-table have been clear of the sides at the bottom all season to date. In contrast Forest Green Rovers Ladies, are 2nd bottom with just the 2 wins and a draw giving them the points both wins against West Ham United Ladies. Like bottom side Plymouth haven’t won in the league since September which has seen them slip down the table. Hannah Porter gave C&K Basildon the lead with Lily Mellors and Zoe Rushen making it 3-0 to the home side before Lisa Coe pulled 1 back for Forest Green Rovers on 76 minutes. Final score 3-1 C&K Basildon record their 4th win of the season to move onto 16 points in 7th place. 

Queens Park Rangers Ladies were playing their last league game of 2015 this weekend at home at The Honeycroft the visitors West Ham United Ladies, both looking for the 3 points to move them away from the sides at the bottom of the table. Danielle Puddefoot gave QPR the lead on 16 minutes as slender advantage going into the break, Sophie Fogarty extended the lead 7 minutes into the 2nd half. West Ham United pulled it back to 2-1 on 60 minutes with Romina Pinna the player on target, however coming off the bench Joanne Wilson netted in the 83rd minute to restore the 2 goal cushion QPR winning 3-1 to close the gap on West Han United Ladies in 9th to a single point.

FAWPL South East Division One

   All of the leagues in the East saw at least one postponed fixture games getting called off with plenty of notice in most cases, however you have to feel sorry for Gillingham FC Ladies busy promoting their home game against Lowestoft Town Ladies, were informed extremely late that their opponents couldn’t field a team and the match was called off, a disappointment to players and fans alike, so instead the Gillingham FC Ladies squad treated the TW Foresters FC Girls squad who had come along to watch to a kick about at Chatham FC.

   The other 2 fixtures did take place in the FAWPL South East Division One did survive the weather. Runaway leaders Crystal Palace Ladies at home to bottom side Bedford Ladies. The visitors opening the scoring after just 3 minutes. That however was as good as the afternoon was going to get for Bedford Ladies as Crystal Palace started to dominate, Abigail Igbavboa pulling scores level, adding a 2nd before half time, with Pamela McRoberts getting a goal in between to make it 3-1 at half-time. The home side came out all guns blazing 2nd half Gemma Bryan netting their 4th followed a minute later by Igbavboa completing her hat-trick. Rochelle Shakes scored Crystal Palace’s 6th goal of the afternoon, substitute Nicha Dyett came on to score 2 goals with Bryan scoring to more to complete her hat-trick to seal a huge 10-0 win which sees them finish 2015 top of the league undefeated.

   In the other FAWPL South East Division One match Norwich City Ladies welcomed 3rd place Milton Keynes Dons Ladies to Plantation Park. The away side proving too strong on the day scoring 4 goals through Andie Dickens, Heather McDonnell, Sophie Watson and Charly Wright to wrap up a 4-0 win and take the 3 points that lift them above Luton Town Ladies into 2nd spot in the league table.

Eastern Regional Leagues

   Now as we go down through the leagues from regional to county it’s when the P-P start to stack up. In the ERWFL Premier Division just one of the 4 listed fixtures survived the weekend with Colchester Town Ladies playing at home against 3rd placed AFC Sudbury Ladies. Was a welcome win for Colchester Town after last Sunday’s heavy defeat to Brentwood Town Ladies. A single won the match AFC Sudbury putting through their own net to give the 3 points to Colchester Town Ladies.

  One fixture in ERWFL Division One East too, and a 2nd successive defeat for Silver End United Ladies following 6 wins out of 6 at the start of their league campaign, this one a high scoring game 11 goals shared between them and visitors Ipswich Wanderers Ladies. Rebecca Hollocks scored 4 goals for Silver End United an OG making it 5 to the home side. A hat-trick for Jessy Whurr, 2 more goals from Tarnya McKew and 1 scored by Michelle Allum saw Ipswich Wanderers edge it however winning 6-5 the 3 points lifting them up into 3rd spot in the table.

  Same deal in ERWFL Division One West with only 1 fixture beating the weather, with bottom side Colney Heath Ladies still searching for their 1st league win of the season visiting Sawbrideworth Town WFC. Colney Heath took the lead in the 1st half Holly Sheridan on target, Sawbridgeworth hit back before the break to make it 1-1 at half-time, went on to score twice more 2nd half the goals from Lucy Bartholomew x2 and Shannon Hardinges, Lucy Hancock pulling one back for Colney Heath Ladies, not enough Sawbridgeworth Town WFC taking the 3 points.

Norfolk

 In Norfolk Women’s Division One all 4 of the title contenders were in action this Sunday two of them playing one another as 3rd placed Aylsham FC Ladies the defending champions hosted 2nd placed Brandon Town Ladies at their new home ground. Wasn’t the start they would have wanted saw their goalkeeper Jess Tipple taken to hospital following a brave challenge that left her in a neck brace, suffering from concussion, thankfully no broken bones and Women’s Football East wishes her a speedy recovery. Brandon Town Ladies went on to win the game 6-1 Tiffany Forshaw scoring 4 goals with Brooke Wickens adding 2 more, Leanne Woodward with the consolation goal for Aylsham FC Ladies.

Brandon Town Ladies end the year unbeaten in 2nd spot in the table as the Norfolk League has now finished for 2015 resumes January 10th. Stay 2nd because leaders Thorpe United Ladies recorded an even bigger victory at the weekend. At home taking on Fakenham Town Ladies who had just the 10 players on the day. Charlotte Groves bagged herself 5 goals, with a hat-trick added by Rebekah Lake, Judith Bloomfield and Joanna Davey also scoring and OG making it 11-1 the final score, Harriet Rudd with the goal for Fakenham Town Ladies. Wymondham Town Ladies finish 2015 in 3rd spot with a 100% win record 6 wins out of 6 winning 5-1 at home this Sunday against Bungay Town Ladies. Kayleigh Holloway on target twice with the other goals from Sally Hammerton, Gemma Hamilton-Rout & Laura Hammerton. Bungay Town’s goal scored by Michelle Stanborough.

It was to Norfolk Division Two that this weekends match report  on the Supporting Women’s Football Blog comes from, a trip to North East Norfolk to watch 2nd placed North Walsham Angels Ladies taking on 3rd placed Sprowston Ladies who were in a good run of form winning their last 4 league matches in a row, big test today against one of the title favourites, had just the bare 11 with no goalkeeper, first team manager Lois Irving putting herself in goal. Were organised and solid at the start making it very hard for North Walsham Angels Ladies to find and space behind as they got numbers back to defend, had few chances of their own but right at the end of the 1st half, Rebecca Kirby broke from the back to play the ball perfectly through to striker Shanice Sutton to break in behind the home defence and slot the ball home. 

North Walsham responded straight away 2nd half from a corner Luci Middleton heading the ball into the back of the net, Sprowston hit back straight away Kirby getting forwards again allowed too much space and time before rifling a 20 yard strike onto the net. Luci Middleton scored her 2nd of the match getting in behind the Sprowston back line to make it 2-2, then with he light fading fast midfielder Amy Hemp tried her luck from distance twice scoring to give North Walsham Angels Ladies a 4-2 win the result lifting them to the top of the table. North Walsham Angels Ladies v Sprowston Ladies 13/12/15

One more match played in Division Two, 4th placed Red Rose Ladies recording a big home win against Stalham Town Ladies to end 2015, Vicky Lubbock scoring 4 times, 2 more from Sophie Lubbock and a goal each for Lauren Hems, Emma Talmadge and Stacey High sealing a 9-0 win.

One more match to bring you from Norfolk in Division Three and a welcome win for Freethorpe Ladies to see them moving back up the table up into 4th spot now after a 2-1 away victory against bottom side Sprowston Ladies Reserves, both their goals scored by Laura Peachment.

Suffolk

Postponements in Suffolk too saw just the one game played in the Women’s Division a big game however with 2nd placed East Bergholt United taking on 4th placed Copleston Ladies. The points were shared in a 2-2 draw all the goals coming in the 2nd half Laura Calver and Jessica Clark on target for East Bergholt. Jade Horne with both strikes for Copleston the point lifting them back up into 3rd, whilst the point for East Bergholt moves them to the top of the table a point clear of Brantham Athletic Ladies who saw their match called off this Sunday.

Cambridgeshire

Not too many games played in Cambridgeshire this Sunday, in the Premiership, Newmarket Town Ladies were also the victim of a late call off as their opponents Huntingdon Town Ladies couldn’t field a team. One match was played in the Premiership and a single goal settled it with ICA Sports Ladies winning away to Netherton United Ladies to move them into 4th place in the table, Tash Applegate with the goal.

 One match played in the Women’s Championship North too, and a huge win for leaders Bourne Ladies to move them 3 points clear at the top from 2nd placed Wisbech St Marys Ladies as they beat 2nd bottom side Hungate Rovers Ladies 12-0. Braces all round for Rosanna Baker, Tracey Duxbury-Mead and Claire Lawrenson. Kimberly Fairweather went one better getting a hat-trick with further goals scored by Toni McHamilton and Becky Cope an OG completing the scoreline. 

One match played in the Women’s Championship South this Sunday too a top of the table clash with leaders St Ives Tow Ladies hosting 2nd placed Park Ladies. Open up the gap at the top to 8 points over Park Ladies as Georgia Rebane fired in 2 goals, Erin Powell scoring for Park Ladies wasn’t enough 2-1 the final score.

Essex

Premier Division leaders Chelmsford City Ladies were held to a 2-2 draw at home to bottom side Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies this weekend, Lisa Overall scoring from the penalty spot, Jessica Loble also scoring. Are now 4 points clear at the top as the teams below them continue to jockey with each other for position. 2nd placed Hullbridge Sports Ladies saw their match at home to Walden Ladies postponed whilst 3rd placed Eastern Avenue were at home to Collier Row Tigers 3 points behind them in 4th. The visitors move up into 3rd above Eastern Avenue on goal difference winning the match 3-0.

In Division One, Harlow Town Ladies lost!… Had you going there didn’t I? Course they didn’t extend their 100% winning start to the season to 12 games are 9 points clear at the top. Although this Sunday’s result was a quiet one by their recent standards give some credit to opponents Wickford Town Ladies for that. At home Harlow won the match 5-0 Philippa Stephens scoring 2, with Tia Dye, Abbie Bensted and Nene McInerney from the penalty spot all finding the back of the net. At the other end of the table it would be nice to say Waltham Forest Ladies picked up a point however it was another heavy defeat variable figures but the final score at home against Hullbridge Sports Ladies Reserves was 27-0.

Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire

  Just the one game played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One at the bottom of the table, was another huge 3 points for Toddington Rovers Ladies recording their 2nd successive win following an opening run of 8 straight defeats. Same opponents bottom side Sandy Ladies were at home on this occasion. Won the match 4-2 with Laura Day on target 3 times for her hat-trick, Amy Summerfield with the other goal. Amber Williams and Chloe Reeves scoring Sandy Ladies goals.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two was the exception to the rule this weekend with all 4 of the scheduled fixtures surviving the weather. Was a top of the table clash this Sunday too, with league leaders Houghton Athletic Ladies hosting 2nd placed Sharnbrook WFC, a thrilling end to the match saw the spoils shared the final score 3-3 keeping both sides unbeaten records intact, Charlotte Mullins and 2 from Emily Clark for Sharnbrook, 2 goals for Becky Sullivan and 1 from Errin Davie for Houghton Athletic who remain 5 points clear at the top.

 Moving up into 3rd spot are Woburn Lionesses at home to Hitchin Town Ladies this weekend, 2 goals from Emily Saunders and another scored by Emma Payne giving them the 3 points after a 3-1 win. Kayleigh Saunders with the goal for Hitchin Town.  Watton Ladies were 5-1 away winner at AFC Kempston Rovers Ladies to lift themselves away from the 3 sides below them at the bottom of the table. Royston Town Ladies Reserves newly formed this season have had a tough start to life in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two 6 defeats before today they finally got a win under their belts playing at home to 2nd bottom Evergreen Eagles a high scoring match winning 5-3 thanks to goals from Amber Murray, Kelly Yarwood and Georgia Gannaway with Amy Cooper grabbing a brace the win lifts them off the bottom. Sophie Clark scoring 2 of Evergreen Eagles goals, who slip to the bottom now the only side without a win in the league.

Was a white wash in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three no games taking place.

Just 2 more fixtures to bring you both from the quarter finals of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup. Cup holders Stevenage Ladies were in action this Sunday away to Garston Ladies from Beds & Herts Women’s Division One, the ERWFL Premier Division leaders too strong on the day advancing through to the semi-finals following a 4-0. Another Division One side to bow out at the quarter finals stage are Bishops Stortford Ladies beaten away from home 8-0 by Watford Ladies (Development U19’s).

 That’s another Edition of The Tuesday Round-Up completed blighted by postponements, the weather however is sadly beyond everyone’s control and we will see more of the same no doubt, the fixtures are racking up going to be a hectic 2016 for some. Just one more weekend of fixtures left in 2015, one more Edition to write (in 20150 let’s home for a dryer weekend, hope you’ve all got your Christmas shopping done (says someone who’s still got loads to do.) The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Thirteen

The Thirteenth Edition of Women’s Football East, The Tuesday Round-Up is here. A huge amount of action and games to cover with the weather for a change not affecting too many fixtures across the East, even though well all felt the gusts from Storm Desmond. Every league across the east saw at least one match being played and with that we saw a couple of sides lose their undefeated status. Was also the 1st Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup with 8 sides featuring from the East across 6 ties. Catching up with postponements in other cup competition too, some delayed by 2 weeks already, in Norfolk, a re-run of a League Cup semi-final in Sufffolk too aswell as the Beds & Herts League Cup 2nd Round. 

FA Women’s Cup 1st Round Proper

Let’s start with the FA Women’s Cup, entering the 1st Round Proper it was largely sides from the FAWPL Division One and a few regional sides that had made it this far after 4 rounds of qualifying. 6 ties featuring sides competing in the region and it to one of these sides that the Supporting Women’s Football Blog travelled to on Sunday with Old Actonians Ladies from the FAWPL South East Division One hosting Swindon Town Ladies their counterparts from the South West Division One, one of two back to back games between them as they have also been paired in the FAWPL League Cup, was postponed last Sunday and cant’ go ahead this with the FA Women’s Cup taking priority.

 The venue was switched to a 3G pitch at Brunel University, with both sides playing on the surface for the 1st time. Was an evenly matched affair, with both sides looking to attack with purpose, the final ball not coming off with defences doing well, a game of few chances, Swindon edging those 1st half, Old Actonians coming out 2nd half and looking to press more higher up the pitch creating more opportunities, at 0-0 with just 3 minutes left to play, Swindon having a quick counter attack al through the match broke capitalised on a mistake in midfield with saw the ball played through to striker Ellie Maynard inside the box, hit the shot hard putting it past the diving keeper and in the back of the net to win the time and book their place in the 2nd Round where they have been drawn at home to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies. Old Actonians Ladies v Swindon Town Ladies 06/12/15

Two all FAWPL South East Division One ties next up, the 1st featuring 3rd v 1st in the league with leading side Crystal Palace Ladies travelling to play Milton Keynes Dons Ladies. Alma Donohoe scored the opening goal to give Crystal Palace Ladies a 1-0 lead at half-time. Soon after the start of the 2nd half Crystal Palace Ladies, Rochelle Shakes was brought down inside the box to earn her side a penalty. Freda Holdaway stepped up to take and scored. Donohoe added her 2nd on 65 minutes with Gemma Bryan scoring in the final 10 minutes to give Crystal Palace Ladies a 4-0. Will be at home in the 2nd Round Proper playing West Ham United Ladies.

In the other all FAWPL South East Division One tie it was a Bedfordshire derby with 2nd placed Luton Town Ladies visiting Bedford Ladies. Luton Town Ladies went 2-0 with goals from Joanne Rutherford and Natasha Fensome. Bedford Ladies pulled one back through Chelsea Hunter before Luton restored the 2 goal cushion, Erica Byron scoring their 3rd goal. Rebecca Vaas scored for Bedford to make it 3-2. Luton held on for the win and have at tasty looking tie in the 2nd Round drawn away to FAWPL Southern Division leaders Brighton & Hove Albion WFC.

FAWPL South East Division One side Gillingham FC Ladies were away in the 1st Round playing London Corinthians Ladies whom had knocked them out of the County Cup back in November. A different affair this time around Gillingham have made high scoring cup ties their forte at the moment. Took an early lead through Kallie Balfour. London Corinthians pulled the scores level midway through the 2nd half Hannah Tichener the scorer, the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, onto extra time. A dramtic 30 minutes, Gillingham given a penalty early on scored by Madison North with Paige Baker-Carroll putting them 3-1 up, Danielle Harrison pulling it back to 3-2 for London Corinthians they drew level as Holly Ryde converted a penalty kick too. Baker-Carroll scored 22 minutes into extra time her goal proving the be the winner as Gillingham edged it 4-3. Face a long away trip in the 2nd Round playing Forest Green Rovers Ladies.

A high scoring match between Fulham FC Foundation Ladies and Enfield Town Ladies ending 3-3 after 90 minutes. Enfield Town were 3-1 up with 6 minutes left to play before Fulham FC Foundation came back to draw it 3-3 then went on to win the penalty shoot-out and make history by reaching the 2nd Round Proper where they will be at home to Lewes Ladies.

 FAWPL Southern Division

All change at the top of the FAWPL Southern Division again as Brighton & Hove Albion WFC retake top spot from Charlton Athletic Women. It was Charlton Athletic Women they were playing too, to do it. A special occasion this Sunday from Brighton as they were getting to play at the Amex Stadium, the game was played in front of a record FAWPL crowd of 3256 and they witnessed a home win, Jay Blackie settling any nerves early on scoring 9 minutes in, Charlotte Gurr adding a 2nd just before half-time, that turning out to be the final score a 2-0 win moving them back into top spot. It finished goalless in the match between C&K Basildon Ladies and Coventry United Ladies. 

One other FAWPL Southern Division game played this Sunday saw West Ham United Ladies travelling to the south coast to play Portsmouth Ladies. West Ham United were left shell shocked at half time after conceding six goals, Sarah Kempson scoring twice on 10 and 17 minutes, Nigerian international Ini Umotang adding 2 more herself on 36 and 39 minutes with Emma Sherwood (one of the six West Ham United players infamously departing the club earlier in the season) adding 2 more goals on 44 and 45 minutes. Sherwood went on to wrap up her hat-trick in the 2nd half Portsmouth Ladies winning the match 7-0.

FAWPL South East Division One

Cambridge United WFC are in a rich vein of form and it continued this Sunday with a trip to the East Coast to play Lowesfoft Town Ladies. The good run keeps going with Sarah Wiltshire opening the scoring, Faith Hewitt on hand to score a 2nd goal. Wiltshire scored for a 2nd time the final score 4-0, with Paige Logie getting the goal, the win see’s Cambridge’s unbeaten run in the league stretch to 7 mathes and lifts them up to 4th place in the table already equalling last season’s points tally of 20.

Norwich City Ladies have plenty of young players in their starting XI and they continue to do well consolidating their spot in the top half of the table were on the road this Sunday playing Denham United Ladies. Ellen Swift gave them an early lead opening the scoring on 2 minutes. Natasha Snelling added a 2nd goal just before the break. Denham pulled a goal back in the 2nd half but it wasn’t enough Norwich winning 2-1 to take the 3 points.

 Eastern Regional Leagues

Unbeaten 100% winning starts were brought to an end in the Eastern Regional Leagues this Sunday. The first of those belonging to Premier Division leaders Stevenage Ladies. Were at home this Sunday the visitors Haringey Borough Women, played well to take the 3 points Zhane Amoaten amongst the goal scorers in a 3-1 win to put them up into 4th place level on points with 3rd placed AFC Sudbury Ladies.

 AFC Sudbury Ladies themselves were looking to close the gap on 2nd placed Billericay Town Ladies had beaten them at home earlier in the season to spark a 3 game winning streak to move them up into 3rd spot. Away to Billericay Town Ladies who needed to put some pressure on leaders Stevenage Ladies themselves it was the home side who took the 3 points winning the match by a single goal. Colchester Town Ladies could only muster 10 players for the trip to Brentwood Town Ladies that was soon reduced to 9 through injury, Brentwood Town Ladies used the player advantage to full effect winning 8-1, Chelcee Grimes netting a hat-trick with braces added by both Ashley Debnam and Emma Mackie along with Paidamoyo Dedza added a goal.

4 more Premier Division sides were involved in League Cup action playing 3rd Round ties. Acle United Ladies finally getting to play a football match having seen over a month without a competitive game. Were on their travels down into Essex to play Gt Wakering Rover Ladies. With a bare 11 available it was Acle who took the lead 18 minutes into the 2nd half, player coach Joanne Hooper putting the ball into the back of the net. Gt Wakering Rovers found an equalising goal with 7 minutes left to play forcing extra-time, went on to score again in the extra 30 minutes to win the tie 2-1 and advance. 

 In the other 3rd Round League Cup tie AFC Dunstable Ladies were hosting Gt Shelford Ladies, the home side scoring through Bethany Stanton. It wasn’t enough as Gt Shelford Ladies found the back of the net twice with goals from Alison Wright and Cindy Ponder.

 It was in the ERWFL Division One East that the other unbeaten 100% record was lost as joint leaders Silver End United Ladies travelled to Suffolk to play Bury Town Ladies. Nadine Basson continuing to enjoy her return form a long injury lay off, scoring 2 for Bury Town. Rebecca Hollocks pulling a goal back in the last 5 minutes for Silver End United, it wasn’t enough as they lose in the league for the 1st time the season. The win for Bury Town Ladies lifting them up into 3rd spot in the table.

That leaves one unbeaten team with a 100% record in the ERWFL, Writtle Ladies moving 3 points clear at the top of Division One East over Silver End United Ladies. Abigail Fry scoring a hat-trick as they demolished bottom side West Billericay Ladies at home 8-0. The other goals scored by Courtney Clarke, Sophie Vale, Georgina Tucker and a brace by Charlotte Walker.

Hutton Ladies were 4 points clear at the top of ERWFL Division One West going into this weekends fixtures were on the road playing 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies, they close to within 2 points of Hutton Ladies following a 5-1 win. Samantha Tinsley scoring 2, with their other goals from, Emma Phipps, Hayley Graham and Georgia Gannaway. Hayley Critchell scoring for Hutton.

 Hutton Ladies lead is now down to a single point as 2nd placed Offley & Stopsley Ladies also win 3 points at the weekend. Were on their travels playing 2nd bottom Hoddesdon Owls, Rachael Lewis, Charlene Moreton, Sheree Oliver and Shanice Sanderson all on the score sheet following a 4-1 win. In the other match in the division, Stevenage Ladies Reserves were hosting bottom side Colney Heath Ladies who had picked up their 1st league point last Sunday got a 2nd this time around after a high scoring draw final score 4-4 Stevenage Ladies Reserves levelling it late on their 4 goals scored by Leah Littlechild and an Alexandria Moir hat-trick. Faith Trounce netted twice for Colney Heath Ladies with their other 2 goals scored by Eustacia Randles and Adrienne Milton.

Norfolk

Were still two ties from the 2nd Round of the Women’s League Cup that needed to be settled having both been postponed twice it was a case of hoping it would be 3rd time lucky. Division Two high flyers North Walsham Ladies faced a tough test at home taking on the League Cup holders Wymondham Town Ladies. The holders progress winning the match 4-2. The other tie was an all Division Three affair with the top two facing one another, Gorleston FC Ladies hosting Harleston Town Ladies, both haven’t played a competitive game for over a month going into this game. Gorleston proving too strong advance winning the match 4-0, Bethany Turner scoring 2 goals with a goal each for Sophie Gillett and Tina Carter.

Norfolk Women’s Division One has new leaders again, with Thorpe United Ladies claiming top spot for the 1st time this season, were on the road away to Bungay Town Ladies and with the 3 sides above them not in league action. Capitalised edging out Bungay Town in a 3-2 win Judith Bloomfield, Kimberly Broom and Charlotte Groves all on target for Thorpe United. Bungay Town scorers Michelle Stanborough and Emily Fusco. 

Bottom side Mulbarton Bells finally got their 1st league point on the board in Division One this season following a 2-2 draw away to Fakenham Town Ladies. Turned up at Clipbush Park with just 10 players again came back from going a goal down twice, Sain Sands on target for Fakenham Town Ladies both times, former Fakenham player Lauren Matthews and Holly Baker scoring for Mulbarton Belles. 

Lynn Ladies were away to Long Stratton Ladies, came out the better of a high scoring contest 2-1 down at the break went on to win the match 4-3 to move back into 5th spot, Shelley Woods scoring another hat-trick with Lisa Wilson getting the other goal, Stephanie Lund also saw her penalty saved. Charlie Head, Summer Moore and Ellie Sostman scored for Long Stratton Ladies.

In Division Two, Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies hadn’t played a league match since the start of November in that time had been nudged off top spot by North Walsham Angels Ladies. Had started the season well 5 wins out of 5, were away to Bohemians Ladies this Sunday, made it 6 wins out of 6 to retake top spot. Went 1-0 down however Joanne Ogogo scoring for Bohemians Ladies. Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies came back 2nd half finding the back of the net 4 times through Gemma Farman, Nikki Wigg, Jody Wells and Sophie Martin.

Out of no where Sprowston Ladies have snuck up on the leading pair in Division Two, in 3rd place, are now a point behind 2nd placed North Walsham Angels Ladies and 3 behind leaders Kirkley & Pakefield. Have now won 4 league matches in a row scoring 7 goals in each of their last 3 league games the latest this Sunday at home to bottom side Morley Ladies winning 7-1 Millie Cursons and Beth Cornwall both getting 2 each with the other goals from Lauren Norstead, Rebecca Kirby and Paige Wright. 

Was another high scoring match in the other Division Two with Stalham Town Ladies winning 6-2 at home to Bungay Town Ladies Reserves. Kiera Brown finding the back of the net 3 times for Stalham Town with 2 more goals scored by Marie Meale and the 6th from Amber Mayhew. Taylor Whiting and Nicola Hazell on target for Bungay Town Ladies Reserves.

In Norfolk Women’s Division Three, Red Rose United are up into 3rd spot having now won 3 matches in a row following their poor start. Away to Freethorpe Ladies this Sunday won 3-1 all 3 of their goals coming in the 1st half, Sarah Miller pulling one back for Freethorpe Ladies who after a promising start are falling down the table. Another side recovering from a poor start to the season in Division Three are Dereham Town Ladies are now unbeaten in 3 have improved defensively not conceding so many, kept their 1st clean sheet of the season playing local rivals Toftwood Ladies for the 2nd successive Sunday following a 2-2 away draw last time out, got the 3 points this time winning 1-0 to move into 5th a point behind Toftwood in 4th.

Suffolk

A farcical situation led to the Suffolk Women’s League Cup semi-final between Copleston Ladies and Witnesham Wasps Ladies getting abandoned 2 weekends ago finishing 2-2 (aet) it was the too dark to take penalties. The match rescheduled for this Sunday with an earlier kick-off with Copleston Ladies travelling to Witnesham Wasps Ladies. Extra-time and pentalies weren’t required. Elysia Young gave Copleston Ladies a 1-0 lead at half time. Witnesham Wasps hit back 2nd half scoring 4 goals a brace for both Emma Long and Emily Steward, Young scored her 2nd of the match too. 4-2 the final score Witnesham Wasps Ladies win a place in the Suffolk Women’s League Cup Final where they will face Brantham Athletic Ladies.

One league match also took place in the Suffolk Women’s Division and whilst Copleston Ladies were involved in their semi-final match, Bacton United Ladies took their opportunity to leap above them and take 3rd spot in the table winning 8-0 at home to bottom side Ipswich Phoenix Ladies. Lois Balfour with 4 of their goals, Francesca Rainbird also scoring a hat-trick, Maria Walker also scoring.

Cambridgeshire

Let’s start with the ad news and I hate to report this, the 1st time on The Tuesday Round-Up can only hope it’s the last. A side has dropped out of the league, from the Women’s Premiership, Deeping Diamonds Ladies, achieved promotion only this season, sadly all the signs of a struggling club were their failing to field a team fixtures called off, not good. Having followed their progress there are some talented players there and I hope they all find another club and continue playing and maybe one day Deeping Diamonds will feature in women’s football again.

Knew something was amiss when I saw this weekends results and the league table didn’t read right, has of course been adjusted to compensate for the missing side. Points gained against Deeping Diamonds Ladies removed in the Premiership. With leaders Cambridge United WFC drawing and 2nd placed Cambridge University Women winning they should have been top but not in the adjusted table. Cambridge United WFC Reserves are a point clear at the top following a 3-3 draw at home to Bar Hill Ladies, Monique Christian, Gemma Clarke and Hayley Turner on target for the home side, whilst Anna Jepshon , Sam Reid and Natalie Wells scored for Bar Hill who climb up to 4th.

 Cambridge University Women had 14 points last weekend to go 2nd still have 14 points losing 3 won against Deeping Diamonds they were hosting Netherton United Ladies this Sunday a close contest a single goal taking the 3 points scored by Lynn Jones-Taylor for Cambridge University Women. Moving back up into 3rd position are Cambridge City Ladies winning 5-0 at home to Newmarket Town Ladies, Saskia Capetti, Bronte Rapley, Grace Stanley and 2 from Philippa Witherspoon the goal scorers.

Just the one match in the Championship North this weekend with Stamford Ladies winning big at home against bottom side Tydd St Mary Ladies, won the game 11-0 halting their slide down the table and lifting them back amongst the chasing pack into 3rd spot.

 A late fixture switch saw Park Ladies changing form a home game to an away trip to 2nd bottom Little Paxton Ladies who were still looking for their 1st league points of the season. Finally got a point with the spoils shared after a 2-2 draw, Erin Powell and Casey Ward with Park Ladies goals. 3rd placed Milton Ladies were hosting league leaders St Ives Town Ladies who are in a strong run off form winning 5 league games in a row before this weekend, made it 6 wins to extend their lead at the top, Hannah Seymour-Shove and Tierney Poore scoring in a 2-1 win. Shona Kelly, Laura Todd and Rebecca Webb were on goal scorers for Isleham United Ladies at the weekend, it wasn’t enough however to get anything from their home match as they lost out 5-3 to Comberton Ladies who finally get back to winning ways having suffered 4 straight league defeats previously Kerri Hilton-Taylor banging 4 goals into the back of the net with Molly Funge also getting herself a goal.

Essex

 In the Essex Women’s Premier Division it was a surprise defeat for leaders Chelmsford City Ladies only their 2nd defeat of the season were away to Collier Row Tigers who have enjoyed some great form themselves of late, was an 11 goal thriller the home side just edging it 6-5, would have love to read a report from that game. Collier Row Tigers open up a gap from the teams below them in 4th. 2nd and 3rd met this weekend Hullbridge Sports Ladies playing Eastern Avenue both on 17 points looking to close the gap on leaders Chelmsford City, they lost however the gap was only narrowed by a point as the title chasers played out a 1-1 draw, Hannah Warner giving Eastern Avenue a 1st half lead, Hullbridge Sports pulled it level in the 2nd half converting from the penalty spot to share the points. In the other Premier Division match played this weekend it was a valuable 3 points won by Walden Ladies at home against Runwell Hospital Ladies to move them away from the bottom of the table up into 6th.

In Essex Women’s Division One, runaway leaders a seemingly unstoppable force in the league were at home to their closest rivals at the weekend 2nd placed Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves regularly scoring double figures in games thought this might be a closer affair… wrong. Harlow Ladies made it 11 wins out of 11 to pull further clear at the top winning 12-0, Nene McInernery scoring 4 of their goals, 2 each for Tia Dye, Victoria Hall, and Philippa Stephens, Imogen Palmer and Catherine Kelly also getting in on the goal scoring act.

 Wickford Town Ladies in 4th spot in Essex Women’s Division One also won comfortably at the weekend a home game against Valley Green the 3 points secured thanks to a 5-0 win. Chigwell Ladies climb up to 5th place following a 6-2 win over Hullbridge Sports Ladies Reserves. 

Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire

An ever changing picture at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with leaders Harvesters FC distracted by the League Cup this Sunday it was Hertford Town Ladies who took advantage were away playing Letchworth Garden City Eagles, 3rd v 4th going into the match a close contest, 7 goals scored Hertford Town Ladies taking the 3 points winning 4-3 to move a point clear at the top, Kerry Oldham scoring 2, Laveena Betts and Becky Shephard also getting a goal. Jade Finch, Tayla Murray and Emily Jamieson with the goals for Letchworh.

At the other end of Division One bottom side Toddington Rovers Ladies had lost their 1st 8 matches following promotion to the league were away this Sunday playing 2nd bottom Sandy Ladies who themselves had mustered just one point all season so far. Laura Day and 2 goals from Amy Summerfield finally gave Toddington Rovers a win in the league after 9 attempts their 1st 3 points lifting them off the bottom into 7th as they push Sandy Ladies to the bottom.

Displaced as leaders in Division One, Harvesters FC were also knocked out of the League Cup this weekend by last season’s beaten finalists, Sherrardswood Ladies the tie finshing 2-2 after extra time, Shivani Bedi and Ellie Lovelock on target for Harvesters FC the away side hit back with goals from Rhiana Rose and Majinder Atwal scoring in the 9oth minute to force extra-time, no goals in the extra period onto penalties Sherrardswood Ladies pinching it winning 5-4.

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two, leaders Houghton Athletic Ladies continue to lead the way, 7 matches, 7 wins, the latest on the road at Watton Ladies winning 3-1 courtesy of 2 goals from Ciara Craig with Emma Hawkes also getting a goal. Sharnbrook WFC are doing their best to keep up in 2nd spot were taking on Royston Town Ladies Reserves this Sunday an away trip. Sharnbrook edged it 3-2 at break, Claire Smith with a 1st half hat-trick, Angelica Fachechi and Amber Murray with Royston Town’s goals, then Annie Brierley levelled it up for the home side early in the 2nd half. Sharnbrook went on to score twice more to win the game, Emily Clarke and Charlotte Mullins with the goals to their name. Woburn Lionesses move up to 4th place in the table after they won 2-0 on the road taking on Evergreen Eagles, Jay Birse and Emma Payne with the strikes to score.

 New leaders at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, where another intriguing battle for the title is unfolding. Evergreen Ladies take the lead have a 7 game 100% win record, this Sunday’s 5-0 at home to Bedwell Rangers the latest. Rebecca Freeman scoring a hat-trick with Samantha Jakson and Natalie Maher getting a goal each. A new side in 2nd spot to as Icknield Ladies move up the table winning by just a single goal at home to Panshanger Ladies the strike from Cyeanna Eaton enough to take the 3 points. Final game to take place at the weekend in the division saw bottom side Shefford Town & Campton Ladies lose at home to Bedmond Ladies 4-1.

A lot of action covered and it just goes to show there is still plenty to play for across all the leagues with December here and team’s wanting to be ideally placed in the New Year, be it to make a promotion push or ensure safety at the other end. Start of the season you look at the fixtures and think it’ll all be over by March, but then the postponements start and looking at the fixtures now there will be a busy end to the campaign for some sides and we haven’t had any snow yet, just adds to the drama. The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Ten

  Welcome everyone to the Tenth edition of The Tuesday Round-Up bringing you all of the past weekends women’s football action from the East of England. Quite a windy affair for most on Sunday afternoon, for those fixtures that had survived the heavy rain falling the day before. A few postponements meaning another frustrated afternoon for some. A limited programme of league fixtures across all the leagues with this being a Sunday set aside for County Cup fixtures. For those in league action it was an opportunity to take advantage of their rivals cup distractions and get the points to lift them up the table. Five of the six counties that fall under the Women’s Football East banner were involved in County Cup matches this Sunday, 2nd round ties in Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk, whilst Suffolk were at the quarter finals stage. Plenty to bring you once more so let’s plunge into the action.

FA Women’s Cup

One postponed fixture from last weekend involving a side competing in FAWPL South East Division One took place this Sunday with Old Actonians Ladies playing host to Southampton Saints Ladies from the FAWPL South West Division One in 4th Round Qualifying. Carla Williams netted a hat-trick with Jessica Byrne adding a 4th goal as Old Actonians Ladies ran out 4-1 winners now have a home tie against Swindon Town Ladies n the 1st Round Proper who they will also face in the FAWPL Cup the Sunday before.

FAWPL Southern Division

Just the two fixtures being played in the FAWPL Southern Division this weekend with other sides playing in their various County Cups and the match between Plymouth Argyle Ladies & Lewes Ladies falling foul of the weather. They faced each other just two weeks ago, now in the reverse fixture Brighton & Hove Albion WFC got back to winning ways having gone 3 matches without a win took the 3 points off the side who had replaced them at the top, Cardiff City Ladies. Coming away from Wales with a 2-1 win Kate Natkiel with the 1st half strike to give Brighton the advantage at half-time Amy Taylor adding a 2nd goal. Kelly Aldridge pulling one back for Cardiff but it wasn’t enough as Brighton climb back up into 2nd spot in the table a point behind Cardiff. 

 In the other game in the FAWPL Southern Division, Tottenham Hotspur Ladies move up into 4th spot in the league table after they defeated West Ham United Ladies at home. Wendy Martin giving Tottenham Hotspur the lead midway through the 1st half, they looked to have thrown it away at the death with West Ham United Ladies, Romina Pinna scoring an equalising goal one minute into injury time. Tottenham Hotspur though still had time for one more attack and it was Martin again getting on the end of a long cross put in towards the far post heading the ball home to seal a 2-1.

FAWPL South East Division One

 Like wise in FAWPL South East Division One, just the two league fixtures taking place with another Lowestoft Town Ladies v Enfield Town Ladies getting postponed. Norwich City Ladies are the big movers in the league table climbing from 8th up into 5th spot following a 5-0 away win to bottom side Bedford Ladies. Early goals for Natasha Snelling scoring on the 5th and 14th minute with a goal from Katie Knights in between on 11 minutes to give the Norfolk side a 3-0 lead at the break, Ellen Swift and Abigail Gower adding two more goals to make it 5.

Also moving in the right direction climbing a place into the top half of the table in 6th are Cambridge United WFC following their 3rd straight league win. Were away to Denham United Ladies this Sunday, Becky Taylor opening the scoring for the visitors on 7 minutes, Emma Jenkins struck on 33 minutes to make it 2-0 at half-time. A 3rd goal came courtesy of new signing Sarah Wiltshire, the Welsh international a potent addition to the squad. Denham United pulled one goal back with 5 minutes left, Cambridge United WFC winning 3-1.

Eastern Regional Leagues

Pretty much everyone was partaking in a County Cup fixture this weekend in the ERWFL Premier Division, just the one fixture with bottom side AFC Dunstable hosting Haringey Borough Women. Couldn’t build on last weekends 1st league win, despite Amber Pearson giving them the lead at half-time Haringey Borough came back 2nd half to score twice win 2-1 to lift them back up into 4th place.

In the ERWFL Division One West, it was 1st versus 2nd as Hutton Ladies took on Stevenage Ladies Reserves. Hutton stay top after the match ended all square, 1-1. Stevenage Ladies Reserves however drop to 3rd spot as Offley & Stopsley Women move into 2nd spot following a 1-0 victory against Sawbridgeworth Town WFC.

  Norfolk

 It was the Women’s County Cup all the way in Norfolk this Sunday the 2nd round taking place with teams vying for a place in the quarter finals of the competition. Two sides advanced without kicking a ball, Toftwood Ladies and Bohemians Ladies awarded home wins. No doubt the tie of the round was between last years beaten finalists Thorpe United and Wymondham Town Ladies who exited the FA Women’s Cup last weekend. Are out of the County Cup too a single goal enough to send Thorpe United into the quarter finals. A hue win for Red Rose Ladies the Division Two side travelling to the coast to play Cromer Town Ladies of Division Three, the final score 11-3, with Megan Skinner scoring 5, with a hat-trick each for Vicki and Sophie Lubbock. 

Aylsham FC Ladies are also through the the quarter finals after a 4-0 home win against fellow Division One side, Long Stratton Ladies, the goal scorers, Keira Squires, Leanne Woodward, Abbie Charlton and Emma Gillespie. Division One side Lynn Ladies faced a tricky tie at home to Division Three side Gorleston FC Ladies. Bethany Turner scoring twice for the visitors who finished the match with 10 players after a red card, it wasn’t enough with Lynn Ladies scoring 3 goals, all from Shelley Woods to book them a quarter final spot. 90 minutes and a further 30 minutes of extra time couldn’t bring a winner in the match between Stalham Town Ladies and Sprowston Ladies ending 0-0 the game went to penalties, Stalham Town going through after winning the shoot-out 4-3. The final 2nd round match between Mulbarton Belles and current County Cup holders Acle United Ladies was postponed until next Sunday.

Into Suffolk and there was just the one league fixture with Witnesham Wasps hosting Leiston St Margarets Ladies. Witnesham wasps climb back above Bacton United Ladies into 4th spot in the league table after a comprehensive 8-0 win, Emily Steward with a hat-trick plus 2 goals for Emma Long, the other goals from Caitlin Howe, Lauren Page and Alice Rampling. Leiston St Margarets continue to search for their 1st point of the season.

Elsewhere it was the quarter finals of the Suffolk Women’s County Cup, Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies were awarded a home win late on against Brantham Athletic Ladies to advance to the semi-finals. Suffolk Women’s Division One side Copleston Ladies faced daunting opponents as current holders of the County Cup Ipswich Town Ladies playing 4 leagues above them were the visitors. Ipswich Town Ladies won 12-1, the goals from Roxanne Small x4, Molly Hall, Jasmine Cox both x2, Coral Young, Amanda Crump Cassandra Craddock and Jacqueline Bell.

 It was an away trip to higher league opposition too for Suffolk Women’s Division side East Bergholt United Ladies away to Bury Town Ladies, the home side advancing to the semi-finals with a 4-0 win Laura Brame scoring a hat-trick with Gemma Carter adding the other goal. In the final quarter final fixture last season’s runners-up AFC Sudbury Ladies were at home to Ipwich Wanderers Ladies, Sophie Jeffery and Skye Ramsey on target to seal a 2-0 win to send AFC Sudbury through to the semi-final draw.

Cambridgeshire

It was league action in Cambridgeshire this Sunday although there were just the 2 fixtures taking place in the Women’s Premiership. 2nd placed Cambridge University Women close the gap to a point on leaders Cambridge United WFC Reserves who saw their games against ICA Sports Ladies called off. Cambridge University were away to 2nd bottom Huntingdon Town Ladies, plenty of goals scored in the match 8 goals shared between the 2 sides Cambridge University edging it 5-3 with goals from Hayley Stewart, Maud Gibbons plue 2 from Amy Binning an own goal adding to the tally. Kellie-Ann Daniels, Laura Spaxman and Stephanie Day scoring for Huntingdon Town. Cambridge City Ladies are up to 3rd spot still unbeaten in the leagie following a 7-1 away victory at bottom side Fulbourn Bluebirds, Grace Stanley netting a hat-trick with Carla Penny adding 2 more Olivia Fraser also scoring. An own goal adding to the tally. Rachel Pearce with the consolation goal for Fulbourn Bluebirds.

New leaders in the Women’s Championship North as Bourne Ladies retake top spot of Wisbech Town Ladies. Were hosting the leaders this Sunday, a hat-trick from Tracey Duxbury-Mead with 2 more goals scored by Kimberly Fairweather helping to secure a 5-2 win. Faye Kowalesky and Sophie Gutteridge scoring for Wisbech Town Ladies who drop to 3rd place as March Town United Ladies leap up the table from 5th into 2nd after this Sunday’s result. A 4-1 win at home to Swinehead Institute Ladies. Shannon Kelly on target 3 times with Jade Pointer adding another goal. Megan Gangerson scoring for Swineshead Institute. Battle of the bottom clubs this Sunday too both without a point something had to give as new sides Hungate Rovers Ladeis and Tydd St Mary Ladies played one another. It was a 1st 3 points of the season for Hungate Rovers Ladies as they won the game 5-0, Jade Chamberlain scoring 4 of their goals with Bianca Towler adding the other.

 New leaders in the Women’s Championship South with St Ives Town Ladies now at the top of the pile following a 4-0 home win against Comberton Ladies. Two goals each for Connie Liddiard and Tierney Poore. The lead may chance although the league table don’t reflect it yet as Milton Ladies were leading 2-1 away to Little Paxton Ladies when the game was abandoned after 70 minutes due to a serious injury to a Little Paxton player. In the other match in the league Riverside Rovers Reserves do the double over bottom side Cambridge Rangers having beaten them away last weekend won the reverse fixture at home this Sunday 3-1 with goals from Jessica Blackbird, Michelle Bark and Roneta Maroosafte to lift them above Comberton Ladies into 4th spot.

  Essex

 Just the one fixture in the Essex Women’s Premier Division, a chance for Chelmsford City Ladies to extend their lead at the top of the table and take points off one of the sides in the chasing pack at home to Runwell Hospital Ladies. A single strike from Charlotte Barnard enough to take the 3 points for Chelmsford City and extend their lead at the top to 7 points.

In the Essex Women’s Division One, Harlow Ladies made it 9 wins out of 9, are 5 points clear at the top of the table following another high scoring win, 7-0 on home turf to Valley Green Ladies. Harlow have a big test coming up, this coming Tuesday  (24th) but one they should relish as they host FAWPL Southern Division side Charlton Athletic Women in the Ryman Women’s Cup. Trying to catch Harlow Ladies are Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves the 2nd placed side winning again this weekend and giving their goal difference a huge boost too as they are the latest side to put the sword to bottom side Waltham Forest Ladies who continue to endure a very tough start to their footballing life. The final score 21-0 to Chelmsford City Reserves. Alresford Colne Rangers move up into 3rd spot in the table after a 3-1 away win against Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies Reserves. Chigwell Ladies were awarded a home win after Southend Town Ladies failed to field a team. 

 Elsewhere it was the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup. The weather put pay to 2 ties those between Collier Row Tigers & Walden Ladies as well as Billericay Town Ladies v Gt Wakering Rovers Ladies. In the other ties Colchester Town Ladies advance to the quarter final stage of the competition following a 3-1 win over Lawford Ladies the goals from Georgia Box, Ceri Harris and Lucy Jones. 3-1 was also the winning margin for Writtle Ladies as they beat fellow ERWFL Division One East side Silver End United Ladies at home, two goals for Abigail Fry plus one for Sophie Vale sealing the win Rebecca Hollocks on the score-sheet for Silver End United.

Two Essex Premier Division sides met in the next tie with Eastern Avenue taking on Hullbridge Sports Ladies. It was the visitors who came out on top of a 3-2 score line to book a place in the quarter final draw. In the last tie to take place this Sunday Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies were hosting Brentwood Town Ladies. After 90 minutes the scores were all square 1-1 going into extra time both sides found the back of the net again, Abbie Simmonds and Taylor Parrish with Little Thurrock Dynamos’ goals, Paidamayo Dedza and Carla Rose scoring for Brentwood Town 2-2 (aet) the tie went to penalties Brentwood Town emerging victorious winning the shoot-out 3-2 to advance to the quarter finals.

 Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire

With the united counties splitting up for their own women’s county cup ties this weekend their were just a handful of league fixtures taking place. In Division One Sherrardswood Ladies took full advantage as they travelled to Letchworth Garden City Eagles in an 11am kick off, 5th versus 6th thing’s are so congested in the league both knew a win would take to the top of the league. Sherrardswood Ladies are the new leaders after winning 3-0 with 2 goals from Laure Marris either side of a goal from Natasha Little.

 In Division Two, Houghton Athletic Ladies had a chance to extend their lead at the top and keep up their 100% start to the season were at home to bottom side Royston Town Ladies Reserves rolled out convincing winners scoring 7 goals without reply Emma Hawkes bagging a hat-trick, with Ciara Craig getting a brace, Louise Spendelow and Shakeela Hussain also getting goals. 

It was into Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three where this weeks features match on the Supporting Women’s Football Blog takes place, a trip into Hertfordshire to watch Panshanger Ladies as side that has been very supportive of Women’s Football East since the very beginning. Was a local derby match today against Welwyn Garden City Ladies and despite the windy conditions turned out to be one of the best local derby matches I have seen in a while. Panchanger’s Shannon Twigg gave the home side the lead, however Welwyn Garden City pulled it back straight away with Claire Cranfield breaking away and putting the ball into the back of the net, Welwyn Garden City then took the lead through Maria Dennehy. It was 2-2 at the break however as Georgia Harvey stabbed the ball home from a corner kick in 1st half injury time. 2nd half both sides had chances to score the winning goal coming from a speculative effort from Welwyn Garden City’s Jenna Wynne just inside the Panshanger half hitting a high shot in towards goal dipping late to drop under the bar ad give the visitors their 1st win of the season for all of the match action click on the link below to take you to the match report.

Panshanger Ladies v Welwyn Garden City Ladies 15/11/15

 Just one more league fixture in Division Three also Bedwell Rangers FC were away to 2nd bottom Hatfield Town Ladies, Georgina Tunstall, Leah Tomlin and Hannah Manton plus an own goal giving them a 4-0 win to climb up to 6th place in the table. 

On to the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup, 4 ties taking place in the 2nd round this weekend. Division Three’s Icknield Ladies were at home to Division One side Toddington Rovers Ladies, goals from Jodie Molloy and a brace by Sophia Pidgeon saw them win the match 3-2 and earn them a plum draw in the quarter finals against FAWPL South East Division One side Luton Town Ladies. No banana skins for another Division One side taking on lower league opposition as they hosted Division Two side Sharnbrook WFC won the match 5-2 Nicola Henman scoring all 5 goals for Flitwick, Charlotte Mullins with 2 late strikes for Sharnbrook.

A comfortable 4-0 win for Woburn Lionesses in the 2nd round as they had home advantage over Shefford Town & Campton Ladies, Lauren Revell striking the back of the net twice in the 1st half with Sharna Halai and Kimberlee Aldred adding a goal a piece 2nd half. In the other tie Division One side Sandy Ladies also advance to the quarter finals following a 3-1 win over Luton Town Hatters with goals from Loren Ellard, Amber Williams and Katie Seldon.

  In the 2nd round of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup, holders Stevenage Ladies were away to Hoddesdon Owls Ladies. Ran out 3-0 winners with goals from Alex North, Abigail Cartwright and Sophie Bailey. Watford Ladies Development (U19s) were awarded a home walk over against Bedmond Ladies. It was a high scoring match between last years runners-up Hemel Hempstead Ladies and visitors Colney Heath Ladies 6-4 the final score to Hemel Hempstead. 

   It ended 1-1 after 90 minutes between Hitchin Town Ladies and Bishops Stortford Ladies after Chanel Sherriff-Geary had given Hitchin Town a 1st half lead Inka Pearson levelled it in the 2nd half for Bishops Stortford to force the extra 30 minutes. Bishops Stortford went on to score twice in extra time Elle Georgiou with both the goals to put them into the quarter finals. Two sides battling it out at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One met each other in the 2nd round of the County Cup, Hertford Town Ladies playing host to Harvesters FC. Laveena Betts, Dee Gilbert and Kerry Oldham all on target for Hertford Town as they won the game 3-0.

   Division One side Garston Ladies were at home against Hitchin Belles who had started the season very brightly in Division Three, against higher league placed opponents they were knocked out of the County Cup, Garston Ladies winning 4-0 with goals by Vikki Duffy, Jane Hales, Kelly Spencer and Emma Trill. One last tie to bring you went to penalties between Bury Rangers Youth (U18s Girls Reds) and Watton Ladies after the game finished 3-3. Bury Rangers winning the penalty shoot-out 4-3 to advance to the quarter finals. One other tie yet to be decided between Royston Town Ladies and Garston Ladies FC 96 didn’t take place this weekend will update in due course.

Didn’t mention as many goal scorers as I would have liked but County Cup fixtures are generally harder to round up. Can’t believe it’s the Tenth Edition of The Tuesday Round-Up already, but Edition Eleven won’t be far behind as the women’s football action keeps coming until next week thanks for reading. 

  The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Nine

  Another Tuesday Round-Up time to bring together all that happened in women’s football in the East following on from another packed Sunday. All the action from the 8th November. Getting to that dreaded stage of the season were the weather is going to say leave it’s mark and we see the P-P starting to appear across the fixtures rather games needing to be rearranged for a later date. Didn’t bode well on Saturday with it raining for much of the day wasn’t long before Women’s Football East had put the weekends fixtures out on twitter than the first postponements were coming in. In the end 15 fixture fell foul of the weather. Sunday started better and more survived well over 50 matches still getting played so plenty to talk about so let’s get The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Nine started.

FA Women’s Cup – 4th Round Qualifying

Normally we would be at the 1st Round proper stage of the FA Women’s Cup, however due to an increased number of entrants their was a 4th Round of Qualifying matches to be held with 12 sides from the East vying for a place in the next round. It was from the FA Women’s Cup that this weekends featured match on the Supporting Women’s Football Blog came from following Wymondham Town Ladies as they made it through the previous to qualifying rounds to go further in the competition than they ever had before this was the biggest game in the clubs history as they welcomed Bedford Ladies playing 3 leagues above them in the FAWPL South East Division One to their home ground King’s Head Meadow. Despite a brave effort for large parts of the match the better side they didn’t take their chances whilst Bedford Ladies captain Rebecca Vass scored a goal in both halves to seal a 2-0 win, click on the link below to read all the match action.

Wymondham Town Ladies v Bedford Ladies 08/11/15

  Southern Region League side Marlow Ladies were also taking on FAWPL South East Division One having knocked a side from that league out in the previous round, Norwich City Ladies. Today the visitors were high flying Luton Town Ladies. The minnows took the lead in the match before Luton pulled the scores level at the break, went on to score 3 more in the 2nd half to seal a 4-1 their goals from Zara Carroll, Shannon Pratt and 2 from Shanice Jimenez. Lowestoft Town Ladies had enjoyed a fantastic run in the FA Women’s Cup last season this time around however they bow out of the competition following a heavy 8-1 defeat at home to London Corinthians FC.

Gt Shelford Ladies were the only side form the ERWFL Premier Division left in the competition had battled through extra time in the previous 2 rounds to set up an away trip to Enfield Town Ladies. The FAWPL South East Division One side reaching the 1st Round Proper winning by a single goal Annie Beganovic the scorer. Denham United Ladies hosted FAWPL South East Division One leaders Crystal Palace Ladies on Sunday, and despite Natalie Murray scoring, Denham United were knocked out of the FA Women’s Cup with Crystal Palace scoring twice to make the full time score 2-1.

Two more FAWPL South East Division One sides locked horns in Suffolk with Ipswich Town Ladies taking on Milton Keynes Dons Ladies. Natasha Thomas and Sophie Welton netting for the home side, it wasn’t enough as Milton Keynes Dons hit back with 3 goals scored by Hannah Barrett, Leah Cudone and Lauren Goodier to win 3-2. In the other FA Women’s Cup tie it was a local derby for Gillingham FC Ladies as they took on Herne Bay Ladies. Two goals from Kallie Balfour and a 3rd from Ashleigh Loosemore securing a 3-0 victory. The match between Old Actonians Ladies and Southampton Saints Ladies was postponed.

   FAWPL Southern Division

 They went top of the FAWPL Southern Division last Sunday beating then leaders Brighton & Hove Albion WFC to lead the pack for the 1st time this campaign. Cardiff City Ladies were in unstoppable form as they played host to bottom side Plymouth Argyle Ladies. Wasn’t going to be the visitors day when they had Jodie Chubb sent off within the 1st 10 minutes, Cardiff City failed to convert the resulting penalty however went in 3-0 up at half-time with goals from Kerry Barlett, Abbie Britton and Gemma Evans. Lucy Edwards on as a 2nd half sub for Plymouth pulled one back a minute after coming on, that however was as good as it got for the visitors with Barlett going on to score 3 more goals, with Michelle Green and a 2 goal burst from Hope Suominen coming on from the bench making it an emphatic 9-1 win.

   With 2nd placed Charlton Athletic Women’s match against Lewes Ladies being one of the weekends postponements, Brighton & Hove Albion WFC had the chance to move back above them as they looked to end a run of 2 defeats were on the road taking on West Ham United Ladies at AFC Hornchurch. Got off to the perfect start with Sophie Perry giving them a lead on 3 minutes. West Ham United pulled the scores level on 20 minutes with Italian, Giulia Ferrandi converting from the penalty spot, were to go in at half-time with Charlotte Gurr scoring for Bright on 45 minutes. Second half Brighton couldn’t hold on to their slender lead with Shirvae Edwards coming off the bench scoring to make it 2-2 on 74 minutes to see the match end as a draw the spoils shared.

   Coventry United Ladies climb above Portsmouth Ladies into 4th spot in the table following a 3-1 away victory over 2nd bottom Forest Green Rovers Ladies. Danielle Selmes giving them the lead 5 minutes into the match, Samantha Hallsworth scored for Forest Green Rovers midway through the 1st half to level things up at the break. Coventry’s Selmes scoring her 2nd goal of the match with 15 minutes left with sub Jess Lundie adding another within a minute to make it 3-1 and collect the 3 points. Portsmouth Ladies drop to 5th after they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to C&K Basildon Ladies. Were 1 nil up at the break with a goal from Molly Clark. Sarah Kempson making it 2-0 for Portsmouth 15 minutes into the 2nd half. C&K Basildon made a double change on 60 minutes bringing on Maegan Doyle and Rebecca Smith and in the final 12 minutes it paid off as both scored to earn C&K Basildon a point. In the final match of the weekend a single goal from Bianca Baptiste in the 2nd half for Tottenham Hotspur Ladies giving them their first win in 3 matches away to Queens Park Rangers Ladies.

Eastern Regional Leagues

Having lost their lead at the top of the ERWFL Premier Division last Sunday suffering their 1st defeat of the season Billericay Town Ladies had the chance to regain the lead with Stevenage Ladies not in action this Sunday. Instead it was a 2nd defeat on the spin as they lost 2-1 away to Brentwood Town Ladies in a local Essex derby. Ashley Debnam and Jessica Mills on target for Brentwood who were in need of a league win having fallen down the table of late are now back up to 4th. Marie Barker scored for Billericay Town who also had Paris Smith sent off.

AFC Sudbury Ladies consolidate 3rd spot, Emma Squirrell scoring the only goal of the match away to Gt Wakering Rovers Ladies. AFC Dunstable Ladies finally get their 1st 3 points and win of the season at the 8th attempt a 4-0 home win against Colchester Town Ladies who only had 10 players available.

It’s still neck and neck in ERWFL Divison One East as Writtle Ladies and fellow Essex side Silver End United Ladies continue their 100% winning starts to the season both at home this weekend. Writtle Ladies taking on Ipswich Wanderers Ladies who had only brought 10 players with them. Sophie Vale and Courtney Clarke both scoring twice with Mia Brisley adding another to seal a 5-1 win to keep them at the top, Kimberly Rex with the Ipswich Wanderers goal. Level on points keeping pace in 2nd Silver End United Ladies were hosting Long Melford Ladies. Jodie Osbourne scoring 1st half and Lynsey Bowman in the 2nd half making the final score 2-0.

In ERWFL Division One West, Hutton Ladies go back to the top of the lead with Stevenage Ladies reserves seeing their match called off. Hutton were on the road at Sawbridgeworth Town WFC, Katie Lowen struck twice for Hutton as they won the match 2-1 Calley Melvhad theille-Taylor with Sawbridgeworth Town’s goal. Was also a 2-1 away win for Offley & Stopsley Ladies as they climb up the table into 3rd spot after beating Royston Town Ladies who having started with 3 wins on the spin now suffer 3 defeats in a row were beaten by Offley & Stopsley 4-2 last Sunday too.

Norfolk

   All the county leagues saw postponement affect their fixtures this Sunday. Their were 2 matches still taking place in Norfolk Women’s Division One and the league has new leaders after the weekends results, Brandon Town Ladies going ahead on goal difference as they fought out a 2-2 draw with Thorpe United Ladies. The draw putting an end to their 100% winning start to the season still unbeaten, had the barest of squads for this Sunday’s match were 2-1 down at the break Chloe Slater scoring their goal. Thorpe United leading at half time thanks to goals from Charlotte Groves and Rebekah Lake. Brandon Town equalised in the 2nd half to earn the draw with Georgina O’Malley netting the goal. In the other match in Norfolk Division One Bungay Town Ladies move up to 5th spot as they beat bottom side Mulbarton Belles, 5-0 at home a hat-trick from Michelle Stanborough with Eva Evans and Emily Fusco also bagging goals. 

  In Norfolk Division Two North Walsham Angels Ladies go a point clear of Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies after the leaders saw their match postponed. Was a depleted squad that took on bottom side Morley Ladies at home just 10 players, Morley got their points tally off that horrible 0 earning a point in a 3-3 draw after being 2-0 down at half time, Helen Watts, Natalie Jones and Natalie Merry with their goals. A double header of fixtures across the leagues or would have been if not for postponements, Bungay Town Ladies Reserves probably wish their match against Sprowston Ladies had fallen foul of the weather beaten 7-0 at home by Sprowston last weekend this weekend saw Sprowston put another 7 goals past them in a 7-1 win to move them up into 3rd spot in the league. Rebecca Kirby and Paige Wright scoring for Sprowston with Millie Cursons adding the other 5 goals. Paige Baker scored for Bungay Town Reserves.

   In Norfolk Division Three just the one fixture survived the weather and Dereham Town Ladies finally got a win under their belts, a new side this season it was a welcome 3 points as they beat Sprowston Ladies Reserve team 8-1 at home. 

Suffolk

  Just the one fixture in Suffolk this Sunday a League Cup quarter final tie between Ipswich Phoenix Ladies and Witnesham Wasps Ladies. The visitors booked their place in the semi-finals with a comprehensive 9-1 win, Emily Steward plundering 6 goals for Witnesham Wasps whilst team mates Emma Long, Lauren Page and Beth Wilson also found the back of the net. Katie Sherwood with a goal in the 1st half for Ipswich Phoenix.

Cambridgeshire

  Three fixtures in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday. Cambridge University Women move up into 2nd spot now unbeaten in 4 matches winning 5-2 away from home against Fulbourn Bluebirds. 5 different goal scorers with Amanda Wainwright, Fiona Carter, Maud Gibbons, Finnoula Taylor and Lynn Jones-Taylor all on target. Ebony-Jade Rule and Krissie Taylor scored for Fulbourn Bluebirds who slip to the bottom of the table.

That is because Newmarket Town Ladies got a point in their match at home to Deeping Diamonds Ladies. Were unlucky not to get all 3 after being 2-1 up going into injury time with goals from Dominika Szary and Jess Linger. Sasha Haw with Deeping Diamonds goal an unfortunate own goal from Newmarket giving them a share of the points in a 2-2 draw. Bar Hill Ladies are up to 3rd in the table beating an injury ravaged Netherton United Ladies 2-1 at home, Lucy Goddard and Anna Jephson with their goals, Georgina Parratt scoring for Netherton United.

 In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North it’s all bunching up at the top with Wisbech St Marys Ladies moving into 2nd spot sandwiched between Wisbech Town Ladies and Bourne Ladies on 9 points. Were 3-1 winners at home to Bourne Ladies, Jade Kelly, Frances Peeling and Ella Rolfe with their goals, Tracey Duxbury-Mead with the strike for Bourne who lose their 100% start to the season with this defeat.In the other match to survive the weather it was a welcome win for Swineshead Institute Ladies who hadn’t tasted victory since the opening day of the season. Were against a side still stuck on zero 2nd bottom Hungate Rovers Ladies goals from Lycia Elston, Chloe Gray and a brace from Jessica Smith securing a 4-1 win, jade Chamberlain netting for Hungate Rovers.

In the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South, Park Ladies go 3 points clear at the top of the table after they beat Isleham United Ladies by 3 goals to 2 away from home goals from Amy Newell, Erin Powell and Kirstie Smith enough to take the 3 points with Emily Mynott and Laura Todd scoring for Isleham United. They go clear as Milton Ladies saw their match at Little Paxton Ladies called off. St Ives Town Ladies stay 3rd moving 3 points clear of 4th placed Comberton Ladies beating them 3-1 at Comberton, Georgia Rebane hitting 2 with Connie Liddiard also getting a goal. Danielle Wilson with the Comberton Ladies goal. Riverside Rovers Ladies Reserves finally get back to winning ways this Sunday inflicting a 6th straight defeat on bottom side Cambridge Rangers away from home, winning 5-1 Jessica Hill scoring 4 of their goals.

Essex Women’s Premier Division leaders Chelmsford City Ladies weren’t in action this weekend  but it was another Sunday where the chasing pack couldn’t capitalise. It was a clash between 2nd and 3rd as Hullbridge Sports Ladies hosted Collier Row Tigers a high scoring match the game ended with a 5-5 draw the points shared, Christina Fragnito x2, Dannielle Dorrington, Drew Allen and Kelly Smith with the Hullbridge Sports goals. Was another score draw 2-2 between eastern Avenue and Hutton Ladies Reserves. Whilst at the bottom of the table Lawford Ladies win their 1st match of the season 3-1 at Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies to send them to the bottom of the table in their place.

  In Essex Women’s Division One, Harlow Ladies continue their 100% winning start to the season, no stopping them it seems 8 wins now 24 points, 80 goals scored, opposition goalkeepers turned into nervous wrecks. The latest 3 point haul on the road this Sunday a 13-1 win at Alresford Colne Rangers. Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves stay 2nd 5 points behind after being awarded a home win against Leigh Athletic at the weekend. 3rd placed Wickford Town Ladies lose out in a 9 goal thriller at home to Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies Reserves the fianl score 4-5. Valley Green were also awarded a home win against bottom side Waltham Forest Ladies, whilst in the final fixture in Division One, Southend Town Ladies were beaten 4-2 at home to Hullbridge Sports Ladies Reserves.

Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire

Leaders Harvesters FC Ladies lost their 100% winning start to the season this weekend suffering defeat at home to Sherrardswood Ladies who move into 5th to join a tightly congested leading pack in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with 2 points now separating 1st to 6th. Abby Cardell scoring twice from the penalty spot for the visitors with Rhianna Rose and Lauren Marris scoring the other Sherrardswood goals. Hannah Kelly netting for Harvesters. Two goals from Tayla Murray keeps Letchworth Garden City Ladies in amongst that leading pack in 6th after a 2-1 win against 2nd bottom Sandy Ladies, Faye Prout getting their goal. Garston Ladies muscle their way into 3rd spot with a 4-1 away win against bottom side Toddington Rovers Ladies the goals scored by Lucy Zecchin, Emma Trill and a brace from Gemma Curtis. Laura day on the score sheet for Toddington Rovers.

In Beds & Herts Division Two, leaders Houghton Athletic Ladies saw their match against AFC Kempston Rovers Ladies abandoned after the visitors only having 7 players to start with were reduced to 6 through injury, 7 is the minimum for a game to go on so it was abandoned Houghton Athletic were 9-0 at the time. In the other only match to start in Division Two, Woburn Lionesses recent run of good form 3 wins out of 3 was brought to an end as they lost 2-1 at home to Watton Ladies who record their 2nd league win of the season.

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, Crawley Green Ladies move back to the top over Hitchin Belles who had the weekend off on goal difference now 6 wins out of 6 to start the season a 6-0 away victory against bottom side Shefford Town & Campton Ladies. Nina service, Jessica McNamara, Taylor Coffey, Siobhan Collingwood and 2 from Yasin Wacey nailing the 3 points. Evergreen Ladies continue to close the gap to the leading pair now 5 wins out of 5 at the start too winning 2-1 away to Panshanger Ladies this Sunday, Ellie Burke with the goal for Panshanger.

 Bedwell Rangers FC ended a 3 game losing streak to get their 2nd 3 point haul of the season following a 4-0 home win against Kings Langley Ladies a 1st half hat-trick from Ailish Beadle with the 4th goal from Claire McNally to earn the points. Icknield Ladies in 4th place won comfortably at home beating Welwyn Garden City Ladies 5-0. One more match to bring you, bedmond Ladies continue to climb the table following a 5-2 away victory over Hatfield Town Ladies, a Molly Peters hat-trick with a goal each for Amy Doorne and Sarah Gunn. Jasmine Jethwa and Milan Johnson scoring for Hatfield Town.

 That wraps up another edition of The Tuesday Round-Up. Nine already! The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Eight

The season moves into November as we begin another bulging edition of The Tuesday Round-Up covering everything that’s happened in women’s football in the East of England this past Sunday. Back to a full league programme across the region as teams vie for the 3 points to lift them up the league, keep them on top spot or knock the leaders off their perch. Leagues are taking shape, a few have yet to get fully up and running some sides frustrated by the lack of action when all they want to do is get out there on the pitch and play the game, let’s plunge into the action.

FAWPL Southern Division

  Brighton & Hove Albion WFC lost their unbeaten start to the season extending to 12 games last time out losing 2-1 to then bottom club Queens Park Rangers. Were at home this Sunday in a top of the table clash with 2nd placed Cardiff City Ladies just a point between them Cardiff City. took a 1 goal lead into the break Kelly Issac scoring on 28 minutes. Brighton restored parity early in the 2nd half Sophie Perry with their goal. Kerry Barlett put Cardiff City back in front from the penalty spot and despite Charlotte Gurr rattling a shot against their cross bar late on the Welsh side held out for a 2-1 to move to the top of the Division, inflicting on Brighton their 2nd league defeat in a row.

Worse for Brighton as not only do they lose top spot they are down to 3rd place with Charlton Athletic Women climbing into 2nd. Playing at home against 4th placed Portsmouth Ladies it was another close scoreline with Gemma Shepherd giving Charlton the lead on 29 minutes. Portsmouth’s Ini Umotong struck back for the visitors 10 minutes later to leave the scores level at half-time. Charlton went on to win the match 2-1, Kit Graham with the winner on 74 minutes. Chasing the leading pack 5th and 6th met at Cheshunt FC, neither side could find a goal as Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Coventry United Ladies played out a 0-0 draw.

 C&K Basildon Ladies capitalised on local rivals and fellow FAWPL Southern Division side West Ham United’s recent woes and player departures by signing onto their book 4 of their former stars ex captain Stacey Little along with Lily Mellors, Kerry Stimson and Kayleigh Xidhas. Were at home this Sunday to Lewes Ladies, scored twice with Claire Lacey and Zoe Rushen finding the back of the net, it wasn’t enough though as Lewes hit back scoring 3 times with Basildon putting the ball through their own net from a corner, Natasha Wells and Paige Walder bagging themselves goals in a 3-2 to lift them above Basildon into 7th.

   Queens Park Rangers Ladies are up to the dizzy heights of 9th building upon last weekends surprise 2-1 win over Brighton by recording another home victory this Sunday winning 4-2 against new promoted side Forest Green Rovers Ladies. Joanne Wilson opened the scoring for QPR on 27 minutes, Forest Green were back on level terms not long after with Vanessa Nicholson slicing the ball into the wrong net 1-1 at half time. Juana Garcia gave forest Green the lead early in the 2nd half. QPR made a double substitution on 62 minutes with Wilson and Laura Cooper coming off for Cherrelle Albert and Elly Maggs. 3 minutes later Maggs scored the goal to bring QPR level and 4 minutes later even better for Maggs she scored again to make it 3-2. Albert got herself on the score-sheet too with a couple of minutes left to seal a 4-2. The match between Plymouth Argyle Ladies and West Ham United Ladies was postponed.

FAWPL South East Division One

   Another clash between 1st and 2nd in the FAWPL South East Division One this Sunday with Luton Town Ladies welcoming leaders Crystal palace Ladies to the Stockwood Park Athletics Stadium. Luton Town had been on an impressive run closing the gap to the top to just 2 points going into the game. Went in at the break 1-0 down with Mary Robinson scoring for Crystal Palace. Wasn’t until late in the 2nd half before Crystal Palace could look to put the game beyond doubt substitute Alma Donohoe heading home from a free kick to make it 2-0 to the visitors. Luton Town got a goal deep in injury time Zara Carroll converting a penalty to make the final score 2-1 keep Crystal Palace unbeaten at the top of the table. 

  3rd placed Gillingham FC Ladies faced a long trip up to a fog enshrouded Norfolk this Sunday and had a 3-1 advantage in a match that was delayed by poor visibility throughout Emma Tune making it 3-1 on 49 minutes the match was abandoned on 50 to leave everyone frustrated, will have to go again another day. Enfield Town Ladies v Milton Keynes Dons Ladies was already postponed. This meant Old Actonians Ladies had a chance to close the gap on the leading pack as they welcomed Cambridge United WFC to their ground, high on confidence after finally picking up their 1st league win of the season. New signing Paige Logie struck twice in the 1st half to give Cambridge United a 2-0 lead at half-time, Laura Mills making it 3 a minute into the 2nd half. Simone Wan pulled 1 back for the home side late on, Cambridge United found the back of the net for a 4th time in injury time Isabella Simmons on target 2 wins out of 2 for Cambridge United now who join a host of teams in the middle of the table on 10 points.

   Denham United Ladies also won 3 much needed points on Sunday at home against Lowestoft Town Ladies to move them away from the bottom. Natalie Murray, Vicky Birkby and Katie Phillipson all scoring in a 3-1, Hannah Waters with Lowestoft Town’s goal. A much needed win for Ipswich Town Ladies down at the wrong end of the table too. Put 9 goals past bottom side Bedford Ladies to move onto 7 points with games in hand on those around them still, braces for both Hollie Clement and Jasmine Cox with a goal each for Amanda Crump, Molly Hall, Aimee Harrison, Jo Foy and new signing Natasha Thomas.

Eastern Region

    They’ve been leading the Premier League since the opening weekend getting their games in and getting the 3 points. Were unbeaten going into this Sunday with 6 wins and a draw were on the road away to AFC Sudbury Ladies who had started to slip down the table having not had much league action recently got a win under their belts today to lift themselves back into 3rd Rebecca Thrower and Sophie Jeffery with the goals in a 2-1 win Lucy Wyatt with the goal for Billericay Town who surrender top spot to new leaders Stevenage Ladies. Are unbeaten themselves chasing Billericay Town with a game in hand is now 7 out of 7 wins a 100% record so far at home to Colchester Town Ladies won the match 4-2, Nicole Perschky with 2, Hollie Jardine and Josie North also scoring. Megan Bamber and Chelsea Forde in reply for Colchester Town.

  Acle United Ladies are another upward mover in the Premier Division climbing into the top half of the table recording their 2nd league win of the season a 4-0 home win against Brentwood  Town Ladies who drop to 7th. Player coach Joanne Hooper scoring twice Alice Ladbrook and Kate Pasque also on target. Haringey Borough Women were enjoying a good run 3 straight league wins that came to an end on the road this sunday as they lost 2-1 against newly promoted side Gt Wakering Rovers Ladies who finally get their 1st 3 points of the season. Georgia Holdaway netting both the goals in either half, Zhane Amoaten with the goal for Haringey Borough. Gt Shelford also secure their 1st 3 point haul of the season (well it’s their 2nd really but the win against Leverstock Green disappeared when the Hertfordshire side folded earlier in the season) A 2-0 win against bottom side AFC Dunstable Ladies, Alison Wright and Rachel Pearce the goal scorers.

  In the ERWFL Division One East Silver End United Ladies move level on points with leaders Writtle Ladeis who weren’t on league action this Sunday make it 4 wins out of 4  with a 6-2 away win against Long Melford Ladies. Michelle Taylor hitting a 1st half halt-trick after Paula Drane had opened the scoring. Lynsey Bowman adding 2 more goals to the tally in the 2nd half. Bury Town Ladies were on the road playing Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies in Essex were 1-0 down at half time with Abbie Simmonds scoring the goal. Bury Town battled back 2nd half levelling the scores then going on to score a last gasp winner to take the 3 points bring an end to Little Thurrock Dynamos recent good run of form. In the other match in the Division West Billericay finally get a point on the board after 5 games a 2-2 draw at home against Ipswich Wanderers Ladies, Kerri Thomas and Michelle Stoneman with their goals. Laura Tuley and Michelle Allum netting for Ipswich Wanderers.

   Nobody wants to keep the lead in ERWFL Division One West as it changes hands for the 4th week in a row Stevenage Ladies Reserves getting the win after 2 straight league defeats winning 4-3 away to Hoddesdon Owls Ladies. leah Littlechild and Sarah Payne with a goal each, with a pair from Chloe Rouse to seal a last minute win. Rebecca Scola and Kristi Burling finding the back of the net for Hoddesdon. Hutton Ladies leading last weekend are now 2nd on goal difference to Stevenage Ladies Reserves after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Sawbridgeworth Town WFC, Rachael Agombar with their goal, Dempsey Favell netting for the visitors. Offley & Stopsley Ladies form is up and down in the league this weekend it was up and they move into the middle of the closing the gap to Royston Town Ladies whom they were playing today to 2 points. A 2nd straight league defeat for Royston Town were leading 2-0 at half-time but Offley & Stopsley came back in the 2nd half to win the match 4-2 take the 3 points.

Norfolk

   Wymondham Town Ladies had taken advantage of everyone else not playing last weekend in Division One to climb to the top of the table, but they themselves weren’t in action this weekend fall down to 3rd spot with previous leaders Alysham FC Ladies reclaiming top spot, only by a point however as they drop their 1st of the season on the road against fellow title contenders Thorpe United Ladies the match finishing 2-2 all the goals scored in the 1st half, Alicia Lacey and Leanne Woodward with the goals for Aylsham, Thorpe’s goal scorers, Charlotte Groves and Rebekah Lake. Moving into 2nd spot are Brandon Town Ladies still with a 100% record 5 wins now the latest a 7-0 away victory over bottom side Mulbarton Belles, Kerry Murray x2, Tiffany Forshaw, Rebekah Finch and Chloe Slater amongst the goals.

  Lynn Ladies hadn’t won a game since the opening day of the season after 4 defeats in a row finally won 3 points this weekend at home to Bungay Town Ladies, Shelley Woods for Lynn and Michelle Stanborough with 2 each making it 2-2 at the break before Woods went on to score 3 more goals 2nd half with Elle Bocking adding a 6th to make the final score 6-2. Long Stratton Ladies shared the points at home to Fakenham Town Ladies the match ending 1-1.

   In Division Two, Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies were finally back in league action and with leaders North Walsham Angels Ladies seeing their match postponed they didn’t waste the opportunity to reclaim top spot maintain their 100% start to the season winning 5-2 at home to 3rd placed Red Rose Ladies who had a 2-1 lead at half-time. Nikki Wigg with the goal for Kirkley & Pakefield went on to score 3 more times in the 2nd half with Jody Wells also scoring in the 5-2 win. 

   Sprowston Ladies climb up to 4th in Division Two with a resounding 7-0 victory away to Bungay Town Ladies Reserves, Shanice Sutton finding the back of the net on 5 occasions with Millie Cursons and Laura Jenkins also picking up a goal apiece. Stalham Town Ladies were also on the road and recorded only their 2nd win of the season following 4 successive defeats beat Bohemians Ladies 4-2.

  In Division Three, Gorleston FC Ladies were finally back in league action having played just the one cup match in the whole of October. Carried on were they left off to keep up a 100% win rate at the start of the season beating Freethorpe Ladies 9-1 at home, Bethany Turner hitting 5, Samantha Hunn helping herself to a hat-trick and Kayleigh Bryne also scoring. Freethorpe’s Claire Garner did something no other side has been able to do so far this season against Gorleston and that is breach their defence to score a goal.

  How many sides will score 7 goals in a match and still lose the game? Dereham Town Ladies did just that at the weekend away to Red Rose United found the back of the net 7 times, however in a goal filled encounter Red Rose United hit back to win the match 10-7 to record their 2nd league win of the season whilst Dereham remain bottom still looking for their 1st points. A side that did record their 1st league win of the season in Division Three were Sprowston Ladies Reserves home winners against Cromer Town Ladies the final score 3-1.

Suffolk

    The top of the Suffolk Women’s Division is being eagerly contested mostly at the expence of the 2 new sides to the league this season, Ipswich Phoenix and Leiston St Margarets. East Bergholt United were the visitors this weekend at Ipswich Phoenix were resounding winners by 9 goals to 1, Jessica Oxlade with a hat-trick along with a brace each for Cameron Hogg and Georgina Longden, Alice Longden and Ella Knight with the other goals. Catherine Mason with the goal for Ipswich Phoenix. Title rivals Brantham Athletic Ladies were also on the road at Leiston St Margarets, Lucy Dunnett scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win Kirsten Hutchings with the other goal. One more match in the league a middle table meeting between Witnesham Wasps Ladies hosting Bacton United Ladies the match ending all square 2-2, Alice Rampling and Emily Steward for Witnesham, Samantha Walker and Francesca Rainbird bulging the back of the net for Bacton.

Cambridgeshire

   Two postponements in the Women’s Premiership saw just the two matches played in the league this Sunday. Cambridge United WFC Reserves extended their lead at the top of the table going 6 clear of 2nd placed ICA Sports Ladies with a 4-0 victory away to Fulbourn Bluebirds. The goal scorers, Liz Pamplin, Emma Roberts, Monique Christian and Sarah Mosley. In the other match in the league Cambridge University Women move up into 3rd place in the table following a 6-1 win on the road away to Deeping Diamonds Ladies.

  Just the one league match being played in the Women’s Championship North this weekend. George Lingham scoring all 4 goals in a 4-0 win for Downham Town Ladies hosting Swineshead Institute Ladies that sees them climb into 3rd place in the table 2 points behind leaders Wisbech Town Ladies.

  In the Women’s Championship South, Milton Ladies stay top of the league, recording a big 8-0 win at home to Isleham United Ladies. Kirsty Lemon-Sparkes netting 3, Lauren Threadgold with 2 more, Olivia Thorogood, Felicity Price and an og giving them the slight advantage of goal difference at the top of the table. Joining them at the top level on points are new side Park Ladies was 3rd v 2nd this Sunday as they hosted Comberton Ladies, took the 3 points to climb above them winning the match 2-0 with goals from Gemma Hutton and Casey Ward. The defeat sees Comberton Ladies slip from 2nd to 4th after St Ives Town Ladies beat Cambridge Rangers 5-1 at home to lift themselves into 3rd spot. Their 5 goals shared amongst, Leigh Chatten, Tierney Poore, Georgia Rebane, Georgia Stancombe and Connie Liddiard.

Essex

  Chelmsford City Ladies stay top of the women’s Premier Division in Essex despite not playing extend the lead after their opponents Hutton Ladies Reserves failed to field a team and they were awarded the home win. The scramble amongst the chasing pack continues, Hullbridge Sports Ladies who moved into 2nd last weekend consolidate the position with a good 7-0 win at home to Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies, Broghan Kelly scoring a hat-trick, Christina Fragnito and Jennifer Lidbury with 2 each. Collier Row Tigers are moving in the right direction up into 4th spot following a 1-1 at home to 3rd placed Runwell Hospital Ladies which sees them collect 7 points from their last 3 league matches. Walden Ladies pull themselves away from the bottom of the table following a 2-1 away win against bottom side Lawford Ladies.

   In Division One it was 1st v 2nd as leaders Harlow Town Ladies travelled to 2nd placed Wickford Town Ladies who had scored 40 goals the previous Sunday, expected goals in this one, Wickford Town though had used their quota up, Harlow Town were in the goals however running out 9-0 winners to make it 7 wins out of 7 in the league. Nudging their way into 2nd spot following that result are Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves just a point clear of Wickford Town 5 behind Harlow after a 3-3 draw at Valley Green.

  Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies Reserves climb into 5th spot in the table after they came out on top of a high scoring match away to Chigwell Ladies, who despite scoring 4 gaols themselves lost out 6-4. In the final match from Division One both Leigh Athletic and Southend Town Ladies were looking for just their 2nd league win of the season to move away from the bottom of the table. Played at Leigh Athletic it was Southend Town Ladies who claimed the much wanted 3 points winning 5-1. 

Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire

  In Beds & Herts Women’s Division One, Harvesters FC moved back to the top of the table maintaining their 100% start to the season moving up from 3rd on 12 points 4 wins out of 4 with a 3-0 home win over bottom side Toddington Rovers Ladies still seeking their 1st points after 6 straight league defeats following promotion last season. Shivani Bedi features regularly in The Tuesday Round-Up scoring 2 more goals for Harvesters FC this weekend, Megan Samuel with the other strike. Bishops Stortford Ladies could have held onto top spot with a win at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles, instead they were held to a 3-3 draw 6 different goal scorers in this one, Sapphire Bennett, Ele Georgiou and Sophie Motton for Bishops Stortford. Letchworth’s goals scored by, Samantha Edgar, Jade Finch and Tayla Murray.

  Garston Ladies climb up to 4th in Division One closing the gap on the leading 3 to 2 points following a 3-1 away win against Sandy Ladies, Vikki Duffy scoring 2 of their goals. In the other match in Division One 8 goals were scored at Flitwick Ladies as they took on Sherrardswood Ladies the home side coming out on the wrong side of a 5-3 defeat. Rhiana Rose scoring a hat-trick for Sherrardswood in that one.

   In Division Two both Ciara Craig and Emma Hawkes bagged a hat-trick each for Houghton Athletic Ladies as they continue to lead the way at the top of the table 5 wins out of 5 the latest a home win 9-3 against Evergreen Eagles. Have Sharnbrook WFC hot on their heels keeping pace 2 points back in 2nd spot scored 8 goals on the road this weekend winning 8-2 at AFC Kempston Rovers Ladies, Sally Dayus with 3 of the goals, Charlotte Mullins win a pair, Emily Clarke, Ruth Derrick and Claire Smith also scoring goals. 

 Also another high scoring encounter in the other match played in Division Two this Sunday, Garston Ladies FC 96 climbing up into 3rd spot after a 9-2 away win against Watton Ladies. Garston went 2-0 down however before coming back to win in convincing fashion Natalie Powell the pick of the goal scorers with 4, Cassandra Chase, Juliette Westbrook, Jade Roberts and Lauren Berryman also netting goals.

  In Division Three, Hitchin Belles remain top of the table following their 6th straight league win to start the season, a hat-trick from Emily Field and 2 from Shannon Page sealing a 5-0 home win against Welwyn Garden City Ladies. Hot on their heels still with a 100% start to the season themselves are Crawley Green Ladies 5 wins out of 5 to start their season ran out 7-0 winners at home to Panshanger Ladies this Sunday, Jessica McNamara with 4 of their goals, 2 more from Nina Service coming off the bench, Yasmin Wacey also scoring. Both sides finsihing with 10 however as Senel Chapman for Crawley and Sevsen Djetdev for Panshanger were shown red cards on 80 minutes. 

   Games in hand on the leading pair Evergreen Ladies are another team in Divison Three with a 100% winning start to the season 4 matches now were on the road to 2nd bottom Hatfield Town Ladies coming away with a 5-0 win and 3 more points, Rebecca Freeman with a goal in either half along with Vicky Slaughter, Louisa Johnson and Paige Lacey-Akers securing the points. The title is going to be hotly contested in Division Three, Ickneild Ladies are still very much in the mix back in 4th spot won 4-0 this Sunday away to bottom side Shefford Town & Campton Ladies, the Molloy’s featuring in their goal scoring charts again, Jodie with 1 and Zoe with 2, Amber Hedges also helping herself to a goal. In the last match in Division Three, Bedmond Ladies make it 2 wins out of two winning big at home 7-1 against Bedwell Rangers FC, 5 goals from Molly Peters with 2 more from Abbie Harrison seeing them climb from 7th into 5th spot. 

   Plenty of goals scored some high scoring encounters across the region. Adds to the drama if not to the hair coverage of your managers. Several leagues are starting to take shape as we enter November the title contenders muscling into position, will be plenty of twists and turns no doubt as The Tuesday Round-Up continues to bring you as much of the action as it can.    The Tuesday Round-Up – Edition Six

 Edition Six of The Tuesday Round-Up sees a limited programme of league fixtures across the East of England this past Sunday. Nevertheless there was plenty of football action taking place as teams dispersed back to there counties to take part in the early rounds of their respective County Cups. That means the ‘Round-Up’ isn’t as straight forward as normal as we deal with different FA outlets and sites to find the information and trust me it can vary greatly depending on what FA we are talking about. Will of course try and cover as much of the action as I can in this latest edition of The Tuesday Round-Up so let’s plunge into the action.

FAWPL Southern Division

      Most FAWPL Southern Division sides won’t enter their respective County Cup competitions until the latter stages, assuming that is they have entered at all, so their was 4 fixtures that took place in the division this weekend. Brighton & Hove Albion WFC extended their lead at the top of the table and continue to remain unbeaten taking the points off one of their main title rivals Portsmouth Ladies in the process. Kate Natkiel gave the visitors the lead on 7 minutes, didn’t take Portsmouth long to hit back Uni Umotong pulling the scores level 3 minutes later. 1-1 at half time, Lucy Somes gave Brighton a 2-1 lead 15 minutes into the 2nd half and Charlotte Gurr made it 3-1 on 80 minutes. Portsmouth pulled a goal back in injury time with new signing Emma Sherwood, one of the former West Ham United players who walked out of the club over a dispute earlier this month coming off the bench to make her debut getting a goal at the death. Final score 2-3 to Brighton.

   Brighton open up a 4 point lead at the top over 2nd placed Cardiff City Ladies as they were beaten on their own patch by Coventry United Ladies 0-3 all the goals coming mid way through the 2nd half Cristina Torkildsen with the 1st goal on 64 minutes with Helen Dermody hitting a quick fire brace on 73 & 75 to wrap up the 3 points lift Coventry a place into 5th with a game or two in hand on all the 4 sides above. C&K Basildon Ladies built on last weeks point at home to win at home this Sunday beating visitors Plymouth Argyle Ladies 2-1 Lily Mellors another former West Ham United player making her debut and Claire Lacey with the Basildon goals in the 1st half before they put through their own net in the 2nd half.  

   West Ham United Ladies were on the road this weekend looking for recover from an 8-1 battering by Charlton Athletic Women the week before was a much changed side as they took on Lewes Ladies. Took the lead through Paige Anderson-James on 22 minutes, were 2-0 up going into the break with Romina Pinna netting the 2nd goal. Lewes Ladies fought back 2nd half with Natasha Wells pulling a goal back for the home side with 10 minutes left to play. Julia Louis-Joseph coming off the bench scored from a long distance free kick as the game entered injury time to make it 2-2 to see the points shared.

FAWPL South East Division One

   Crystal Palace Ladies dropped points for the 1st time this season as they drew 1-1 away to bottom side Cambridge United WFC both the goals coming in the 1st half, Roschelle Shakes bagging Crystal Palace’s goal with Cambridge United WFC’s goal coming from new signing Paige Logie. That result meant Luton Town Ladies closed the gap on Crystal Palace at the top to just 2 points as they followed up their midweek 3-1 win over Bedford Ladies with another three points at home this weekend beating Old Actonians Ladies 4-2 Natasha Fensome hit 2 with Rachel Carter and Shannon Pratt also scoring for Luton. Jessica Byrne and Natasha Cree scoring Old Actonians goals. 

  One other match in the league this Sunday saw Enfield Town Ladies earn the 3 points and move into the top half of the table winning 3-2 at home to Bedford Ladies. Ella Meadowcroft scored twice for Bedford to give them a 1-2 lead at half time with Regan Coleman scoring for Enfield. The home side hit back after the break to score twice through Ayse Mustafa and Sheryce Slater to earn them the 3 points.

  Eastern Region

  3 matches took place in the league this weekend, Brentwood Town Ladies move up to 3rd spot after a 3-3 draw away to AFC Dunstable Ladies who pick up their 1st point of the season at the 5th attempt, Stephanie Fisher scoring twice with Amber Pearson also scoring for Dunstable, Brentwood Town’s goal scorers were, Danielle Butler, Leanne Cox and Paidamoyo Dedza. Also picking up their 1st point of the season are newly promoted Gt Wakering Rovers Ladies as they took on Gt Shelford Ladies who themselves had just a single point going into the game they drew 1-1 Natalie Shenton with their goal, Georgia Holdaway finding the back of the net for Gt Wakering.

   Was a 1st win on the season in the league for Acle United Ladies who climb into 6th spot in the table following a 3-1 home win over Colchester Town Ladies who are in a poor run of form in the league dropping down the table. Acle’s goals coming from Lauren Bullard who smashed 2 into the back of the net and Jenna Thurtle. Georgia Box scored a 1st half goal for Colchester Town.

   In Division One East, Writtle Ladies made it 4 wins out of 4 to stay top of the league beating Ipswich Wanderers 3-1 away from home, Courtney Clarke, Charlotte Walker and Sophie Vale with the goals for Writtle. Tarnya McKew netting in the 1st half for Ipswich Wanderers. Flying up the table with 3 wins on the spin are Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies, Taylor Parrish scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against West Billericay Ladies who are still looking for their 1st points of the season.

          Norfolk

   Now the league action gets reduced as this season’s County Cup competition get under-way. There was just the one league match in Norfolk Division One with Wymondham Town Ladies travelling to Long Stratton Ladies. Continued their 100% league win rate at the start earning 3 points to climb into 2nd spot in the league scoring 7 goals, Kayleigh Holloway and Laura Hamilton-Rout both scoring 2 with the other 3 goals scored by Amber Cantwell, Emily Anderson and Gabriella Stone. Did however concede goals in the league for the 1st time with Long Stratton finding the back of the net twice through, Charlie Head and Summer Moore final score 7-2 to Wymondham.

   One other league match in Division Two saw Bohemians Ladies travel to play Bungay Town Ladies Reserves won their 1st match of the season a convincing score line to hitting 7 goals without reply. Ellie Blaxell and Joanne Ogogo both hitting hat-tricks with Leanne Smith grabbing the other goal.

   Was the start of the Norfolk Women’s County Cup this weekend 3 ties in the 1st round being played, Thorpe United Ladies last season’s beaten finalists made easy progress to the 2nd round beating Harleston Town Ladies of Division Three 13-0 on the road. Another big score too for Lynn Ladies as they smashed 11 past another Division Three side Freethorpe Ladies, Shelley Woods scoring 6 times with Chloe Edwards grabbing a hat-trick Josie Turner and Louise Coggles getting the other goals.

   Didn’t cover a match in the east this weekend with it being the final weekend in FAWSL 2 and if I had of done wouldn’t have had enough note paper to report on the final County Cup 1st Round tie as Division One leaders Aylsham FC Ladies hosted Division Two leaders North Walsham Angels Ladies. Aylsham went 2-0 before ending up 3-6 down came back to score 3 ties to level the scores at 6-6 after normal time to force extra-time going on to find the back of the net 3 more times to win the match 9-6. Aylsham’s goal scorers were Leanne Woodward with 3, Abbie Charlton ad Lisa Ferdani with 2 each with single goals for Sarah Thompson and Alicia Lacey.

Suffolk

   Was the 2nd round of the County Cup in Suffolk this weekend and the draw had seen some of the big guns and favourites drawn against each other with an all FAWPL South East Division One clash between Ipswich Town Ladies and Lowestoft Town Ladies. Holders Ipswich Town Ladies won the match 4-2 thanks to goals from Amanda Crump, Mikaela Keleovoulou, Jade Henry and Holly Clement. Hannah Waters scored twice for Lowestoft as they exit the cup. Was another big tie that saw Eastern Region Premier Division side AFC Sudbury Ladies drawn against Brandon Town Ladies playing in Norfolk Division One. AFC Sudbury progress to the quarter final stage knocking Brandon Town out winning by 3 goals to 1. Sophie Jeffery, Kayleigh Steed and Stacey Teager with the AFC Sudbury goals. 

  Copleston Ladies leading the Suffolk Women’s Division progress to the quarter final stage too a single goal from Jade Horne enough to beat Bungay Town Ladies a home. East Bergholt United beat Bacton United Ladies 2-1 to make it through the the quarter finals. In the other two tie there were big wins for Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies and Bury Town Ladies as they booked their places in the quarter final line up. Kirkley & Pakefield were at home to Leiston St Margarets Ladies, Nikki Wigg and Selina Rowland both netted for goals and Sophie Martin and Jody Wells hat-tricks as they won 14-1. Bury Town Ladies were on the road playing Witnesham Wasps Ladies scored won 11-0 with goals from Emma Baldry, Laura Brame, Gemma Carter and Mikaela Talbot all getting 2 with the other goals from Emma Boreham, Catherine Upton and Shelby Beveridge.

Cambridgeshire

    A handful of league games in Cambridgeshire this Sunday, one in the Premiership and a 1st win of the season for Cambridge University Women playing their second league match followed up last weekend mauling at the hands of Cambridge United WFC Reserves by handing out one of their own beating the 10 players of ICA Sports Ladies 9-2 away from home. Amanda Wainwright finding the back of the net on 4 occasions, Amy Binning with 2, Fiona Carter, Lynn Jones-Taylor and Hayley Stewart also scoring. Tash Applegate with the 2 goals for ICA Sports Ladies.

   In the Championship South, Milton Ladies brought new side Riverside Rovers Ladies reserves back to earth with a bump after they’d started last Sunday with a big win, lost at home 4-0 as Milton Ladies continued their great start to the season now 3 wins out of 3, Olivia Thorogood, Carly Dawson and 2 from Daniella Briggs securing the 3 points for Milton Ladies. Comberton Ladies stay 2nd winning their 2nd league match 2 keep it 100% at the start of the season beat Cambridge Rangers in the early kick off 5-0 away from home the goals coming from Kirsty Geal and Susanna Horan with Kerri Hilton-Taylor scoring 3.

  Cup action in Cambridgeshire too this weekend but League as a pose to County Cup action 6 ties in the 2nd round. Holders Huntingdon Town Ladies progress in the competition thanks to a 2-1 home win over St Ives Town Ladies, Kellie-Ann Daniels and an own goal handing them victory, Georgia Stancombe with the goal in the right net for St Ives. Last season’s runners-up Cambridge United WFC Reserves also advance to the next round beating Deeping Diamonds Ladies 3-0 at home Hayley Turner, Catherine Hanley and Monique Christian with the goals.

    Newmarket Town Ladies have been without a win in the league so far this season but got one in the League Cup 2nd Rd on the road away to Isleham United Ladies winning 5-0 with Jordanne Sillitoe scoring a hat-trick along with Joely kirby and Faye Sutton getting a goal a piece. Another Premiership side to safely reach the next round are Fulbourn Bluebirds although by a much closer score line winning 3-2 at home against Wisbech St Marys Ladies, Krissey Taylor with a brace and one from Ebony-Jade Rule securing the win, Catherine Ray scoring twice for Wisbech St Marys.

   The same score line for Park Ladies in a local derby match against March Town United Ladies, Gemma Hutton, Kristie Smith and Jade Anderson getting the goals for Park the scorers of March Town United Ladies goals were Emma Searle and Danielle Westgate. 4-2 was the final score as Wisbech Town Ladies beat Bourne Ladies to reach the next round Faye Kowalewsky scoring twice with goals from Suzanne Bedwell-Byatt and Sophie Gutteridge. Rachel Garratt and Claire Lawrenson in reply for Bourne.

   Netherton United Ladies compete in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership but were playing in the Northamptonshire Women’s County Cup 1st Rd this weekend away to Corby Town Ladies made it easily through to the next round winning 5-0 with goals from Yasmin Green, Alice Macnicol and Megan Strickland along with a brace for Kerry Camwell.

Essex

  A couple of 1st Rd ties to be contested in the Essex Women’s County Cup. Silver End United Ladies made short work of reaching the next round beating Runwell Hospital Ladies 10-0, Lynsey Bowman and Rebecca Hollocks both helping themselves to hat-tricks, Paula Drane, Jodie Osbourne, Rebekah Henderson and Amy Evans also getting on the score sheet. Billericay Town Ladies leading the ERWFL Premier Division also advance winning 4-0 at home to Hutton Ladies, Vicky Kinsman scoring 2 goals, with the others from Nicole Farmer and Emma Roberts. Chelmsford City Ladies were given a bye following Barking Ladies withdrawal from the league.

   In the Premier Division, Chelmsford City Ladies took full advantage of the bye to extend their lead at the top of the table as they travelled to bottom side Lawford Ladies winning 3-1 with goals from Shannon Hughes, Ashleigh Harding and Georgia Sleep. Hullbridge Sports Ladies have recovered from a poor start to the season to win 3 on the bounce to move into 2nd spot in the table winning big at home at the weekend 8-1 against Hutton Ladies Reserves. Walden Ladies grab their 1st win of the season a surprise result after the starts both sides have had beating Eastern Avenue 3-1 at home.

   In Division One there’s no stopping Harlow Town Ladies goal scoring won 13-0 on Sunday against Hullbridge Sports Ladies Reserves to maintain a 100% win rate at the start of the season 5 out of 5 with 53 goals already in the scored column. Moving into 2nd spot 3 points behind Harlow Town are Wickford Town Ladies after they beat Valley Green 6-0 at home. Also scoring 6 goals and moving level on points with Wickford Town Ladies into 3rd place are Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves on the road at Alresford Colne Rangers the final score 3-6.

Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire

 Just the one league match across the 3 divisions this Sunday. A big result though for Flitwick Ladies in Division One as they finally get their 1st win of the season after making a terrible start to the season winning 4-2 at home to Toddington Rovers Ladies who now prop up the table looking for their 1st points still themselves.

   Everywhere else it was County Cup action and whereas they might be joined for their league football Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire go their separate ways for the County Cup. 1st Round in both competition let’s start in Bedfordshire 3 ties being played this Sunday. Leaders of Division Three versus leaders of Division Two as Crawley Green Ladies took on Sharnbrook WFC. Sally Dayus the hero for Sharnbrook netting a hat-trick with Charlotte Mulllins scoring early in a 4-3 win. Nina Service, Leanne Stevens and Jessica McNamara scoring for Crawley Green. Division Three came out on to in the next tie as Icknield Ladies travelled to Division Two side Houghton Athletic coming away with a 3-0 win, Zoe Molloy and 2 goals from Cyeanna Eaton seeing them into the next round. In the 3rd tie it was another away win as Woburn Lionesses beat a depleted AFC Kempston Rovers Ladies side by 4 goals to 1, Dominique Hull, Georgia Herrington and 2 goals from Emma Payne. Captain Sophie Lewton on the score sheet for AFC Kempston Rovers.

   Onto Hertfordshire alot more ties to report on let’s start with holders Garston Ladies on the road away to Division Three side Panshanger Ladies are safely through to the next round putting 9 goals into the back of the net on a 9-0 win, Vicky Duffy with 3, Emma Trill getting 2 with the other goals shared amongst, Gemma Curtis, Joanne Sharp, Lucy Zecchin and and own goal. Last season’s runners-up however, Sherrardswood Ladies are out of the competition knocked out by Hitchin Town Ladies who beat them 5-2 at Sherrardswood. Kayleigh Saunders with 2 goals, an own goal and 1 each for Rebecca Day and Nadia Child seeing Hitchin Town through. 

   Division One leaders Harvesters FC Ladies go through to the next round after a 4-0 away win at Evergreen Eagles with 2 goals from Shivani Bedi, Lauren Croucher and Katherine Hatton also bagging goals. A 4-0 away win too for Division One side Biships Stortford Ladies at Bedwell Rangers a goal each for Yasmin Smith, Abigail Stevens, Inka Pearson & Danielle Dutnall. Also winning 4-0 away from home were ERWFL Division One West leaders Royston Town Ladies playing Evergreen Ladies who play in Division Three, Samantha Tinsley scoring a hat-trick with Emma Slater adding the 4th goal.

  Colney Heath Ladies haven’t had a great start to the season in the ERWFL Division One West but were comfortable winners on the road to Division One side Letchworth Garden City Eagles winning 7-1. Two more ERWFL Division One West sides faced off in the 1st round of the County Cup with Hoddesdon Owls Ladies hosting Sawbridgeworth Town WFC, Kristina O’Connell scored twice with Rebecca Scola getting the Hoddesdon goal in a 3-2 win. Stevenage Ladies Reserves travelled to play Watford Ladies Development ended up on the wrong side of a 4-3 scoreline to go out of the competition.

  In the final two ties played at the weekend there were big wins for both Hitchin Belles and Bury Rangers Youth (U18s Girls Reds). Hitchin Belles at home put 10 goals past the 10 players of Kings Langley Ladies, Shannon Page and Charlotte Peters getting 4 goals each, with Emily Field having to settle for 2. Bury Rangers were on the road playing Hatfield Town Ladies won the game 8-2 to advance to the next round. The game featuring Garston Ladies FC 96 and Welwyn Garden City Ladies is recorded as abandoned have no more details than that.

    That pretty much covers it again for another edition took quite a bit of rounding up try to mention as many goal scorers as I can but they’re not always that easy to track down.
