Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup
A varied weekend of competition across the county this weekend, the highlight being the quarter finals of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup. Sometimes had to find information in the County Cup competitions. All four games scheduled for this weekend Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds home tie against Cambridge Rangers cancelled moved to next Sunday.
The winners of that tie will be playing Burwell Tigers Ladies in the semi-finals after they claimed victory away from home in Sunday in their quarter final against fellow Championship South side Isleham United Ladies. Hannah Dewey scoring a brace, their were goals too for Vicky Murrell and Megan Seabrook-Mead in a 5-1 victory for Burwell. Emily Ingle scoring the goal for Isleham.
An all Premiership quarter final in the junior Invitation Cup saw Cambridge City Ladies Development at home to Histon Ladies Reserves this Sunday. Megan Tonks on target with a hat-trick for Cambridge City way out in front in the goal scoring charts with 19 goals for the campaign to date. Hannah Lock celebrating her 1st goal of the season too for Cambridge City who ran out 4-1 winners. Bethany Fisher with the goal for Histon scoring on her 1st start for the side.
Cambridge City Ladies Development’s will be at home in the semi-finals of the Junior Invitation Cup their opponents fellow Premiership side March Town United Ladies. A tough opponent for March in the quarter finals drawn away to Championship South high flyers, St Ives Town Ladies Development. The Premiership side trailing 1-0 at half-time. Came back well though in the 2nd half to level the scores before going on to win 2-1 to reach the last 4 of the competition. Emma Searle and Naomi McGarvie with the goals.
Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup
One game from the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup group stage this Sunday. In Group A, Championship North leaders Ketton Ladies were away to fellow league side Cardea Ladies. Goalless at half-time Cardea getting the lead with under 20 minutes left Naomi Hall with the goal. Ketton lacklustre managing to find a quick reply Beth Goodman equalising just 4 minutes later. The visitors finding the winning goal in the 90th minute Goodman on target for her 2nd of the match to see Ketton win 2-1 to keep up their 100% winning record not only in the league but Group A also as they join ICA Sports Ladies at the top on 9 points.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
A 100% winning record now back on the table for Wisbech Town Ladies in the Championship North as they rejoin Ketton Ladies at the top of the table with 5 wins from 5 after the ‘result’ from their abandoned game with Ketton was removed. Wisbech were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies in the league this weekend were short on numbers physio Charlotte Rose drafted in as a substitute. Was soon called into action with Wisbech suffering a further injury blow. Pinchbeck lively performances improving too the lead in the game Rebecca Navarrette finding the back of the net. Wisbech came back to level the scores just before the half-time whistle Sophie Swinden getting the goal to make it 1-1. Wisbech going on to find the winner in the 2nd half Rose scoring the goal much to the delight of everyone.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
One game too in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South with Haverhill Rovers Ladies restoring their lead to 3 points in the table with an away win against Park Ladies on Sunday. Joeli Kirby netting twice in the match taking her tally to 21 for the season. Two goals too for Kayleigh Nolan. Catherine Upton and Kayleigh Steed also getting a goal each with Elicia Cooper also a target in a 7-2 victory. Jenna Brown and Sophie Fenner scoring the goals for Park.
