Beds & Herts – Sunday 30th October

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

 In Beds & Herts Women’s Division One, Sandy Ladies go 5 points clear at the top of the league as they continued their winning start to the season winning all 5 of their opening games. The latest result coming away from home this Sunday. Were playing Houghton Athletic Ladies back on league action after a two week break involved in cup competitions. Harriet Ford and Chloe Reeves scored the goals for Sandy to see them win 2-0 move onto 15 points, finished the game with 10 players on the field after Katie Seldon was red carded.

   Eleswhere in Division One two sides picked up ther 1st league wins of the season. A good result for Hitchin Town Ladies having been promoted this season had lost their opening 3 league games. Were at home on Sunday playing 2nd placed Sharnbrook WFC promoted as Division Two Champions had enjoyed a good start to the season beat Hitchin Town 3-1 at home 2 weeks ago. Different story this Sunday, Hitchin Town getting the 3 points courtesy of a 2-0 victory, Kayleigh Saunders and Rachael Jones getting the goals.

  St Albans Ladies also bagged their 1st league win of the season formerly Harvesters FC had lost their opening 2 league games, at home this Sunday were playing Garston Ladies, was a tight contest the scoreline 0-0 at the break and for much of the 2nd half. Sophie Monahan scoring for St Albans in the 80th minute to see them win for the 1st time this season in the league.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

   What a contest between there was between Watton Ladies and Garston Ladies FC 96 at the weekend the league leaders coming back to keep their Unbeaten record in tact after the game finished… wait for it 6-6! Garston held a 100% win record with 3 wins from 3 to start the new season away to Watton Ladies on Sunday the lead looks to be taking shape with some competitive performances already. Watton found the back of the net with 6 differnet players getting on the scoresheet, Samantha Edgar, Chloe Jones, Heidi Nash, Gemma Penny Francesca Smithers and Beth Willing finding the back of the net. Jade Roberts scoring 4 of the 6 goals for Garston with Leah Crocket and Lilly Clark also getting a goal each.

Joining Garston on 10 points at the top of the Division Two table are Flitwick Ladies, the 2nd placed side at home on Sunday playing Royston Town Ladies Reserves, it was a close game with the visitors unlucky to not get anything from the game scoring through Sabrina Purser. Flitwick won the match 2-1 to get the 3 points, Kierra Gabriel and Faye Moxon with the goals to their name.

pans-twigg  Panshanger Ladies good form continues as the 3rd placed sides won on Sunday for their 3rd successive league game were away to bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets. Kerry Twigg (pictured) scoring 2 goals inside the 1st 15 minutes to give them a 2-0 half-time lead. 2 more goals followed 2nd half Ellie Burke finding the back of the net on 58 minutes Chemise Huitson adding the 4th goal 6 minutes later.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 Took a while for everyone to get going in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, this weekend 8 of the 9 sides contesting the league were in action. League leaders, Evergreen Eagles maintain their unbeaten start to the season, relegated from Division Two last season look strong this season at home to Shefford Town & Campton Ladies on Sunday won the game 4-0 with Lisa Linsley netting a brace, goals too for Rebecca Corcoran and Amber Charlton.

Hot on their heels in 2nd place are Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues new to the league this season made it 3 wins from 3 a 100% winning start with victory away to Bedwell Rangers. Amy Gibbins scoring a hat-trick. Casey Chapman and Georgia Payne also on the scoresheet the final score 5-2. Jessica Sullivan scoring both goals for Bedwell Rangers in the 2nd half.

  Potters Bar United Ladies new to the league this season are up to 3rd winning for the 2nd time this season edging a 7 goal thriller away from home against Hertford Town Ladies new Reserves side. Anastazia Rowszar put potters Bar into the lead 21 minutes int the 1st half. Becky Shephard pulling Hertford Town level with 5 minutes of the 1st period left. 1-1 at the break Janiece Allen restored Potters Bar lead 8 minutes into the 2nd half, Hertford Town levelling it through a Chloe Allen goal on 62 minutes. Back came Potters Bar Allen with her 2nd goal in the 71st minute. For a 3rd time Hertford Town levelled the score Shephard with her 2nd goal of the game on 76 minutes. 5 minutes later Allen completed her hat-trick to make it 4-3 Potters Bar holding Hertford Town at bay for the final 9 minutes to win the game.

Crawley Green Ladies were playing just their 2nd league match of the season, having lost their opening league game 7-5 against Evergreen Eagles had been involved in penalty shootouts in cup competition over the past 2 weekends winning one losing out in the other. Were away on Sunday playing new side Wheathamsted Ladies. Isn’t too many Round-Up’s go by without either Jessica McNamara or Nina Service scoring for Crawley Green Ladies and both netted a goal in the 1st half to see Crawley Green lead 2-0 at half-time. Sophia Pidgeon pulled it back to 2-1 for Wheathamsted 5 minutes into the 2nd half. Crawley Green soon extended their lead Mandy Cain-Murnane with the goal on 54 minutes. Both McNamara on 66 minutes and Service 3 minutes from time scored their 2nd goals of the game to see Crawley Green record a 5-1 win.
