Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies sat out last weekend’s fixtures that saw nearest rivals St Albans Ladies lose for the 2nd time this season in a 9 goal thriller with 3rd placed Northwood Ladies to keep their lead at the top of the table by 3 points. Were back in action this Sunday away to Hitchin Belles, Hemel Hempstead made it 10 wins now from 12 played, losing and drawing once each. Natasha McConville pulling away from Bianca Hedgecock as top scorer for the club netting a brace at the weekend to move onto 17 for the season. Captain Steph Cripps also on target with her 2nd goal of the campaign to help secure a 3-0 victory.

A high scoring defeat for St Albans Ladies last time out there was no close scoreline this Sunday as the club bounced back with a double figure win. St Albans at home to Hartham United Ladies. Grainne Kellet opening the scoring for St Albans on 22 minutes the host with a quickfire 2nd from top scorer Eleanor Lovelock who make it 3 on the half hour. Hartham pulling it back to 3-1 before Kellet popped up with her 2nd of the 2nd of the game late in the first half, Jessica Cavaree on target to make it 5-1 to St Albans at the break. A past start to the 2nd half seeing St Albans go further ahead, Kayla Johnson making it 6-1 4 minutes after the restart, Lovelock going on to complete her hat-trick soon after with her 29th goal of the season. St Albans in control goals coming at regular intervals Holly Williams to make it 8-1 on 70 minutes, Cavaree with a quick brace to make it a hat-trick with Johnson adding a 2nd goal to the tally late on and Lacey Kavanagh-Blake with her first goal of the season making the final score 12-1 in the final minute.

Northwood Ladies in 3rd were playing a double header this weekend away to Houghton Athletic Ladies as they look to get their games finished before the end of the season. Northwood winning the 3 points in the first match with top scorer Emma Steele netting a brace along with a goal for Honor Cantrell to see it finish 3-1. Emily Wilson with the goal for Houghton Athletic. Steele scoring again in the 2nd match to take her onto 27 goals for Northwood this season, Houghton Athletic though getting a goal with Sophie Lee finding the back of the net to earn a share of the points 1-1. 4 points at the weekend for Northwood not enough to take them above St Albans into 2nd spot lay a point behind pressure on both side above however with 5 points the gap between the leading trio now having all played 12.

The points also shared at the weekend between 5th placed Hitchin Town Ladies and 4th placed Garston Ladies 1st team. The match ending in a 1-1 draw with Ruby Jager scoring her 6th goal of the season for Garston who are looking well placed to secure a top 4 finish in their 2nd season playing in Division One.

At the other end of the Beds & Herts Women’s Division One table, Royston Town Women Development in 8th were away to bottom side Letchworth Garden City Eagles, both promoted from Division Two this season. The pair sharing the points in a 2-2 draw back at the start of February, Royston hadn’t played since another close game against the pair this Sunday with Tayla Murray scoring for Letchworth. Royston though coming away with the win thanks to a brace from Paige Rolfe to see them win for the 2nd time this season and open up a 4 point gap on the bottom pair.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

In Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday the top 4 were all back in action as the battle for the title goes on. Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses topping the table on goal difference over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies were away to Evergreen Ladies at the weekend. Evergreen short on numbers with just 9 on the field, did well putting in a shift but against the league leaders it was always going to be a tough test and tiring in the 2nd half Woburn & Wavendon scoring goals went on to win comfortably 7-0. Holly Venn giving the visitors an early lead on 5 minutes with her 11th goal of the season. Evergreen holding their opponents at bay for much of the first half Charlotte Bedford doubling the lead on the half hour Georgia-Rose Edwards and Jessica Greaves adding a goal each to see the lead 4-0 at the break. Bedford with her 2nd of the game early in the 2nd half. Goals from Edwards and Kelly Randall in the final 10 minutes .

AFC Dunstable Women Blues were finally back in league action having not been involved in the title battle since the end of January, falling to third rearing to go as they travelled to face 2nd placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies on Sunday. Nicola Hollick captaining the side amongst the goals for Dunstable netting 4 times in the match including one from the penalty spot to put her on to 25 goals for the season. Errin Murray also on target with her first goal for the club in just her 3rd appearance to help Dunstable to a 5-1 victory closing the gap to 2nd to 2 points with a game in hand a 5 behind leaders Woburn & Wavendon with 2 in hand.

Sherrardswood ladies in 5th spot were away to 4th placed Langford Ladies at the weekend in Division Two, points dropped in their last two fixtures including a first loss of the season seeing Langford slip away in the battle above for the title. A tough game agianst Sherrardswood the visitors opening the scoring from a corner in the 15th minute, Francesca Novelli scoring the goal. Leah Holmes getting her 5th goal of the season for Langford however 2nd half strikes from Kally-ann Westgarth and a 2nd of the game for Novelli her 5th of the season 10 minutes from time sealing a 3-1 win taking Sherrardswood to within 2 points of Langford with both having played 11.

Garston Ladies Vintage Purples earning a point at home in a tough contest with Langford Ladies last weekend were on the road this weekend to face Bedford Ladies Development struggling for points this season in the bottom 3. Short on players at times too Bedford took the lead from a hopeful ball played into the box not dealt with by Garston feel to Lauren Prior to score her first Bedford goal making just her 2nd appearance. Garston coming back to level before half-time Emma Trill in good goal scoring form this season running at the Bedford defence before shooting from 25 yards out to score her 19th goal of the season. Garston pushing on 2nd half creating better chances but none taken the game was to end with the sides sharing the points.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Just two sides left across the East now with 100% records, Pinchbeck United Ladies in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship and Herts Vipers now 15 points clear in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, their record now 16 wins from 16 were taking on bottom side Whetstone Wanderers Ladies this Sunday the game switched around to get played with Herts Vipers at home. Kelsey Millen with her 15th strike of the season opening the scoring for Herts Vipers inside 8 minutes, Lois Ruane adding a 2nd 2 minutes later. Both players going on to score another goal each before half-time with Tasmin Symonds-Bishop also scoring to see the lead 5-0 at the break. Goals throughout the side this season Rosie Langston finding the back of the net early in the 2nd half to put Herts Vipers 6-0 up, Sarah Payne soon adding a goal to make it 7-0. Rachel Wall coming off the bench to score a brace the first on the hour, in between her goals Millen on target to score her hat-trick. Symonds-Bishop making it 11-0 with 11 minutes left. All this without top scorer Nicole Jancey entering the fray on the beach however didn’t take her long to get amongst the goals managing to complete a hat-trick herself in the final 12 minutes, the final score 14-0.

 The rest of the field left in their wake, Biggleswade United Ladies having a strong season themselves are well placed to secure runners-up spot with 7 matches left to play are 3 points clear of Harvesters Ladies in 3rd who have played 2 more. Were away to Kempston Rovers Ladies this Sunday in Division Three. Angelica Fachechi on target to score a brace for Biggleswade has 7 for the season now, a goal too for Sarah King. There were also first Biggleswade goals for both Helen Spencer and Louise Grocott in a 5-1 victory. Hoffi Pursey with the goal for Kempston Rovers.

 Harvesters Ladies were at home in Division Three this weekend hosting Flitwick Eagles Ladies. Eve Shaw with her 14th goal of the season firing Harvesters into a 10th minute lead. Flitwick coming back well to level the scores on the half hour with Brittany Holdsworth scoring for the 13th time this season. The scores level at half-time. Harvesters having to work for the win pushed all the way by Flitwick, retaking the lead with 20 minutes left Isobel Hughes making it 2-1 then 3-1 with a quick fire double. Sammy Beharry pulling it back to 3-2 with 12 minutes left for Flitwick. Eleanor Keating ensuring the victory for Harvesters making it 4-2 in the final minute. 

  Hitching Town Ladies Reserves were hosting Bedwell Rangers Ladies this Sunday in Division Three. The pair sharing 6 goals between them to take home a share of the points Bedwell Rangers with goals early in the 2nd half from Rachel Young and Freya Rampley getting onto the lead Hitchin Town fighting back with Ellen Beary scoring twice in the final 20 minutes and one from Fiona Davies her first for the club 6 minutes from time to see it finish 3-3.

  Stotfold Juniors Ladies back in action this Sunday were hosting Buntingford Town Ladies and with other results going in their favour in mid-table in Division Three won the 3 points at home to move up to fifth level on points with Kempston Rovers Ladies. Stotfold winning the game 3-0 thanks to goals from Georgia Dollman and Gemma Robertson and a first of the season for Jessica Clarke-Patrick.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

The weather once again affecting the fixtures in the Beds & Herts women’s football league games called off in all three divisions alot of work put in to get other played however with sides trying to switch Garston Ladies Vintage Purples, Sherrardswood Ladies and Buntingford Town Ladies all originally at home travelling to their opponents. 

 Starting with the action form Division One this Sunday and a win for 2nd placed St Albans Ladies would see them return to the top of the table on goal difference over Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies. Were hosting 3rd placed Northwood Ladies who themselves needed a positive result to keep up the pressure on the top 2 a high scoring contest won by the odd goal in 9! Northwood’s last league action way back at the start of the year. St Albans with an early goal Jessica McNamara scoring. Kayla Johnson scoring on the hour added a 2nd goal late in injury time with top scorer Eleanor Lovelock firing in her 26th goal of the season with 7 minutes to play. Not enough for St Albans to take anything from the match however as Northwood performed well as a team to take home all 3 points, Joanne Horwood scoring a hat-trick goes to 11 for the season whilst there was another brace for top scorer Emma Steele who has 26 now for the season. Northwood winning 5-4.

Garston Ladies 1st team also in the mix in the top 4 as they keep level on points with Northwood both now 2 points back from St Albans as they won at home this weekend against Hitchin Belles who claimed their first league win in Division One last weekend. Garston in good form in the league winning 4 in a row coming into Sunday’s fixture, Hitchin buoyed off the back of their victory the pair drawing 1-1 at the break, Bonnita Woodward with her first goal of the season for Hitchin Belles. Garston starting the 2nd half well taking the lead 10 minutes in going on to score a 2nd quickly 3-1 up added a 4th to make it 5 wins league wins in a row 6 if including their cup win. Paige Andrews with a brace her first goals of the season their was a goal each too for Cassandra Chase and Hayley Carr.

A good start to the season in Division One for Hitchin Town Ladies newly promoted to the league a run of losses against the top 3 sides seeing them slip down the table, arrested that run against local rivals Hitchin Belles were on the road this weekend taking on 5th place Hartham United Ladies a positive result would see them leap frog them back into the top half of the table. Hitchin Town taking the lead 1st half through their captain Emma Chaffey with a great strike from the edge of the box to find the bottom corner. The visitors going on to take a 2-0 lead into half-time a long ball on finding Chaffey through on goal to chip the onrushing goalkeeper. Chaffey doubling her tally for the season in the 2nd half Hitchin Town awarded a penalty the spot kick sent home to see Hitchin Town move back to 5th winning 3-0.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Two games surviving in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two both seeing a switch of venue, Garston Ladies Vintage Purples now away to 4th placed Langford Ladies. Emma Trill in great goal scoring form for Garston in recent games set up unselfishly by Lucy Zecchin through on goal with only the keeper to beat put in Trill to send home. 1-0 Garston had their backs to the wall as Langford pressed for an equaliser, Trill in a again through to beat the keeper to the ball to score her 2nd and 18th goal of the season seeing Garston leading 2-0. Langford pulling a goal back just before the half-time whistle. Langford strong at the start of the 2nd half Garston working hard to try and defend their lead Langford strong on the counter attack coming back to level the scores a 30 yard run leading to a 2nd goal. Garston put everything into defending the point glad when the final whistle blew. 2-2 the final score Tabitha Brown and Chloe Scott with the goals for Langford.

Sherrardswood Ladies now away to Evergreen Ladies this Sunday. Evergreen’s first game for 4 weeks, have had some eventful games with Sherrardswood already this season. A good first half from Evergreen however they found themselves trailing 1 nil at the break as a Sherrardswood fired a low cross into the box resulting on the opening goal in the 38th minute Melissa Wright with her first goal of the season. Evergreen starting the 2nd half well getting the ball up and around the Sherrardswood penalty box were awarded a penalty for handball in the 53rd minute captain Rebecca Freeman putting it away to score her 8th goal of the season. 1-1 Evergreen went on to find the winning goal with 15 minutes left on the clock a ball over the top saw Natalie Maher through to make it 2-1 and secure the 3 points.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Two matches also in Division Three this weekend, 3 points awarded to leaders Herts Vipers already with scheduled opponents Stotfold Juniors unable to field a side. Herts Vipers getting another league game sorted this time against 3rd placed Harvesters Ladies as they look to keep their 100% record going. The pair neck and neck at the top of the table in the first part of the season. Top scorer Nicole Jancey getting Herts Vipers into the lead inside 10 minutes after Rachel Wall had intercepted the ball. That the advantage going into the break, Jancey having a brilliant season in front of goal her first half strike her 49th of the season just 10 minutes into the 2nd half she was celebrating her 2nd and more significantly 50th goal of the season, these coming from just 16 appearances. Tazmin Symonds-Bishop ensuring the win with 20 minutes left the ball put to her six yards out to score.

A significant result too at the bottom of Division Three at the weekend as Buntingford Town Ladies win for just the 2nd time this season another side reversing their fixture now away to Flitwick Eagles Ladies. The pair fairly even in the first half both scoring, Flitwick through Brittany Holdsworth to see them level at 1 each. Buntingford having the better of the first half as they went on to take the lead and score another 3 to win the game 5-2. Sammy Beharry on target with Flitwick’s 2nd goal with 10 minutes to play, Buntingford off the foot of the table with the 3 points.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

 At last the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup semi-final line-up is complete Storm Ciara and Dennis playing their parts these past two weekends just 2 matches played in the league last time out. St Albans Ladies were taking in Division Two title challengers AFC Dunstable Women Blues in the last 8 of the competition. The game a month in the making the pair originally locking horns a 4 weeks ago that game abandoned through injury, the storms coming along putting pay to it twice since and with St Albans pitch unplayable this weekend the decision was taken to reverse the fixture to Dunstable’s Creasey Park ground.

St Albans 2nd in Division One in good form in front of goal this season winning the League Cup in the 17/18 season beaten finalists last time out taking the lead in the 20th minute Kerry Twigg sending the ball over the line to make it 1-0. Abbey Williams on target with her first goal of the season in the 35th minute giving St Albans a 2 nil advantage going into half-time. The lead made more comfortable early in the 2nd half Millie Guest scoring St Albans 3rd goal. Top scorer Eleanor Lovelock celebrating her 25th goal of the season adding a 4th goal midway through the 2nd period of play. A late double from Jessica McNamara including a goal in stoppage time seeing St Albans  through to the last 4 winning 6-0 will be away to Division Three leaders Herts Vipers in the semi-final.

A league and cup double for Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies last season they remain on course to repeat the feat this time around 4 points clear at the top of Division One were at home to fellow Division One side Hartham United Ladies in the quarter finals of the League Cup. Hemel Hempstead opening the scoring the ball played over the top flicked over the advancing keeper. Hartham getting back on level terms through Ellie Burke, a Hemel Hempstead goal kick played straight to her one touch before sending it into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Hemel Hempstead back into the lead a deflected ball seeing their attacker through on goal to score. The hosts going 3-1 ahead with a ball cut across the edge of the area sent low into the bottom corner. Hartham battling unable to find a reply as Hemel Hempstead went on to score twice more to win 5-1 to reach the semi-finals of the competition, where they will be at home to Garston Ladies 1st team.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

One game played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two this weekend a match between the bottom two and it was a significant result for Hitchin Belles away to Letchworth Garden City Eagles as they were at last celebrating their first league win of the season. Has been a tough season so far for both sides following promotion from Division Two, Hitchin Belles winning the league struggling in Division One with just a point. Good pressure early in the match from Hitchin Belles, Kiera How running onto a through ball to slot the ball home giving the visiting side the lead in the 15th minute. Went on to win the game 3-0 whilst seeing a penalty saved up the other end. Emily Field scoring her 6th goal of the season along with Amy Jack on target for her 5th from the spot. The 3 points taking Hitchin Belles off the foot of the Division One table at the expense of Letchworth. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Remains as tight as ever in the title battle at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two. Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses winning 12-0 against bottom side Wheathamstead Wanderers Ladies the only league match played in the past fortnight seeing them go top on goal difference last weekend over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies both were in action this Sunday. Woburn & Wavendon were away to Bedford Ladies Development. The hosts scoring with Lucy Middleton making her 2nd appearance for the side putting away her first goal. Holly Venn scoring for Woburn & Wavendon late in the 1st half, brought up her 10th goal of the season late in the 2nd with 7 minutes left of the clock to secure a 2-1 win for Woburn & Wavendon to keep them top of the table.

The clashes between the top 4 sides will go along way to deciding who emerges with the title itself, all capable of beating the other two met this weekend with AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies at home to 4th placed Langford Ladies just 3 points between the sides going into the match a close game between the pair a single goal the winning margin. Chloe Scott on target to score for Langford. Claire Smith firing home a brace sealing the victory for Kempston Town & Bedford keeping pace with Woburn & Wavendon at the top, the pair opening up a little daylight 5 points clear of 3rd placed AFC Dunstable Women Blue who have games on both.

Rhiana Rose with a devastating spell in front of goal in the first half for Sherrardswood Ladies helping to secure the 5th placed side the win in Division Two at the weekend away to Watton Ladies. Rose on target for her first of the day in the 22nd minute with a quick-fire double in the 37th and 38th minutes to complete her hat-trick went on to add a 4th goal in first half stoppage time. Watton scoring twice with Elizabeth Dowton on target to score both goals, Rose’s 4 goal haul seeing Sherrardswood return home with a 4-2 win.

Garston Ladies Vintage Purples way to bottom placed Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies at the weekend. The visitors taking the lead early in the match form a corner kick the ball half-cleared coming to midfielder Jane Hales to shoot and score 1-0 up pitch conditions tricky Garston settling getting onto the front foot Emma Trill shooting from range to double the lead. Trill going on to score a first half hat-trick, her 3rd coming from the rebound from a penalty taken by Yasmin Sabri saved by the keeper, Trill reacting quickest to score. Garston 4-0 up at the break. Sabri holding off a defender beating the keeper to make it 5-0. Trill going on to add a further 2 goals to her days tally moving her onto 16 goals for the season. Sabri with her 2nd of the game seeing Garston win the game 8-0 has 13 now for the campaign.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

4 matches too played this weekend in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three. Leaders Harts Vipers continuing their fine form at the top of the table recording a 13th straight win and maintain their 100% record stay 9 points clear at the top were away to Hitchin Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Sarah Payne striking early in the game to fire Herts Vipers into the lead inside 2 minutes. Hitchin Town working hard to defend keeping thier opponents at bay for most of the first half after that opportunities created the 2nd goal finally coming late in the half, Tazmin Symonds Bishop playing the ball on for Kelsey Millen to score. Herts Vipers 2-0 up at the break. A fast start to the 2nd half for Herts Vipers adding a 3rd goal within a minute of the restart Eva Ramsey scoring her first goal for the club. The visitors awarded a penalty 4 minutes later, top scorer Nicole Jancey stepping up to take sending the ball home to make it 4-0. Jancey adding another just 3 minutes late to put Herts Vipers 5-nil up. Herts Vipers getting on top pushing on the game into the final 10 minutes awarded another penalty Jancey taking to score and bring up her hat-trick. Her first of the day, there was still time for the striker to add another as she went on to fire home a quick-fire double netting er 6th of the game in the 89th minute. The final score 10-0 to Herts Vipers, a 3rd penalty given in stoppage time this time scored by Rachel Wall.

  Biggleswade United Ladies are pushing hard at the top of the table too 2nd level on points with 3rd placed Harvesters Ladies the pair meeting at the weekend. Biggleswade with home advantage had won the reverse fixture against Harvesters 3-2 at the end of January. Another great result for Biggleswade this weekend as they do the double over Harvesters to move 3 points clear in 2nd. Tashai Simms scoring her 8th goal of the season with Helen Coster also celebrating a goal to help seal a 2-0 victory. 

Back to back wins in the league for Stotfold Juniors Ladies before the storm hit weekends were back in action in Division Three this Sunday hosting 4th placed Kempston Rovers Ladies. Zoe Trinder with her 6th goal of the season putting the visitors into the lead. Stotfold coming back to earn a share of the points with Hope Page netting the equaliser. The point enough to move Stotfold up a place in the Division Three table up to 5th spot.

4 points won in their previous two matches the storm hit weekends putting a halt on Flitwick Eagles Ladies momentum they were back in action this Sunday on the road to play Evergreen Eagles. Anna Bright with a quick fire double midway through the first half seeing Flitwick to a 2-1 lead at the break. The score repeated in the 2nd half with Evergreen Eagles on target for a 2nd goal. Charlie Newton with her 7th of the season with 15 minutes left for Flitwick with Sammy Beharry also scoring her 7th of the campaign in the 89th minute. 7 points from their last 3 matches seeing Flitwick pull away from the battle at the bottom of the table.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

Cup action in the Beds & Herts Women’s Football League this weekend with quarter final matches played in both competitions, the League Cup and The Chris Renshaw Cup. One quarter final tie in the League Cup falling foul to the weather holders Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies home tie with Hartham United Ladies called off will try again next Sunday. Two Division Three sides reaching the last 4 of the League Cup both having home advantage at the weekend up against Division One opponents. 

  Herts Vipers leading the way in Division Three with a 100% scoring plenty of goals too were hosting Hitchin Town Ladies. Herts Vipers off to a fast start taking the lead inside the opening 2 minutes Nicole Jancey setting up Selin Buyukgiray make it 1-0. Herts Vipers coming close to a 2nd before making a change in the 34th minute Rachel Wall introduced to the action making an instant impact scoring with her first touch to double the lead. Jancey on the scoresheet late in the first half to put Herts Vipers 3-0 up at the break. Buyukgiray with her 2nd of the game in the 56th minute, Herts Vipers finishing strong the game heading into the final 20 minutes Jancey going on to score a 9 minute hat-trick to add to her first half goal sending her to 42 goals to the season. Kelsey Millen sneaking in her 13th goal of the season during Jancey’s onslaught. 9-0 the final score to Herts Vipers a comprehensive victory to send them into the last 4 of the competition Buyukgiray completing her hat-trick with 5 minutes to play has 15 goals now this season from just 5 appearances. The draw for the League Cup semi-finals will see Herts Vipers at home to either St Albans Ladies or AFC Dunstable Women Blues who play their rearranged semi-final this weekend.

  Biggleswade United Ladies 2nd in the Division Three table were at home to Division One side Garston Ladies 1st in the quarter finals of the League Cup, another side with goals in them Biggleswade were up against a Garston side in good form winning their last 4 league matches up to with goals coming throughout their side. Proved to strong for Biggleswade at the weekend scoring 5 without reply to advance into the semi-finals of the competition. 5 different scorers in the match too with, Holly Jury, Harley Carr, Charley Kelsey and Daniella and Jade Roberts celebrating a goal each. Garston with face either Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies or Hartham United Ladies away in the semi-finals.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

Quarter final weekend too in The Chris Renshaw Cup with 3 of the 4 ties played this Sunday. Division One side Northwood Ladies at home to Division Three side Hitchin Town Ladies Reserves. Northwood 3rd in the Division One table in good form winning six in a row in league and cup scoring goals too 37 in their last 3 games alone were amongst the goals again this weekend to safely progress to the last 4 of the competition. Emma Steele scoring a hat-trick in the tie going to 22 goals for the campaign. Emma Marshall netting a brace with Joanne Horwood also on the score sheet with a goal both on 8 for the season helping to secure a 6-0 win for Northwood. 

Northwood will be away to fellow Division One side Houghton Athletic Ladies after they narrowly beat Division Tow title contenders Langford Ladies in the quarter finals of The Chris Renshaw Cup at the weekend. Sophie Bounds scoring for Langford, goals though from Shakeela Hussain and Louise Spendelow seeing Houghton Athletic clinch a 2-1 victory to progress into the last four.

An all Division Two clash saw familiar opponents Garston Ladies Vintage Purples at home to Sherrardswood Ladies the pair meeting in the League Cup final itself a few season ago. Chances for both sides early on Garston taking the lead with Yasmin Sabri rounding the keeper to make it 1-0. Emma Trill doubling the hosts lead before Sabri struck again to see Garston 3-0 up at half-time. Alot for Sherrardswood to do to try and get back into the game Garston were working hard to prevent them scoring. Jane Hales striking a free-kick the ball sneaking in at the near post to put Garston 4-0 in front, Trill joining Sabri on 10 goals each for the season scoring her 2nd of the afternoon on the follow-up after her initial shot was saved. Trill going on to complete her hat-trick her position as stand alone top scorer lasting a matter of minutes with Sabri too sealing her hat-trick and send Garston into the last four of The Chris Renshaw Cup courtesy of a 7-0 win. Will be away to either Hitchin Belles or AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies in the semi-final the pair meeting this weekend.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

  One league game played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this weekend, Royston Town Women Development hosting Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Both sides finding it tough in the league following promotion last season, just the one win and draw for Royston from 9 played going into the game, Letchworth’s without a win so far this season 2 draws to date, 3-3 at home to Houghton Athletic Ladies last weekend Letchworth battled well against Royston at the weekend to see them earn a 2nd successive point of the season the match ending in a 2-2 draw, Kate Tempest and Tayla Murray with her 6th goal of the season scoring. Royston feeling they could have gotten more from the game scoring through Lydia Webb and Emer McAuliffe.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Also one league match played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two at the weekend and a significant result for AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies as they win at home to move to the top of the table for the 1st time this a season edging ahead of the 3 sides promoted with them last season, still just 3 points in it though between the top 4. Were at home to Evergreen Ladies on Sunday, goals from Charlie Mullins, Rachael Mumford and Helen Spalding securing a 3-0 victory.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Four games played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three at the weekend and with the top two playing in the League Cup it was an opportunity for Harvesters Ladies in 3rd position to move back level on points with Biggleswade United Ladies in 2nd. Harvesters were on the road taking on bottom side Buntingford Town Ladies. Top scorers Eve Shaw netting a first half brace for the visitors taking her to 13 goals for the season now for Harvesters. Louise Avery scoring their 3rd goal early in the 2nd half, Rachel Dodd on target with a goal with 20 minutes left seeing Harvester secure a 4-1 victory to give them the 3 points. 

 Kempston Rovers Ladies move back up to 4th in the Division Three table with a 7th league win at home to Whetstone Wanderers Ladies on Sunday. Working hard for each other Whetstone proved a tough opponent for Kempston Rovers to break down. The deadlock finally broken with Vicki Boyde scoring to make it 1-0 with her first goal for the side. Lucy Harper making to 2-0 to Kempston Rovers, top scorer Ellie Newberry-Bierton with her 9th goal of the season wrapping up a 3-0 win.

A confidence boosting 6-0 home win for Flitwick Eagles Ladies at home to Buntingford last weekend, had the better of the first half this weekend away to Bedwell Rangers Ladies holding a 2-0 advantage at the break. Charlie Newton firing the visiting side into the lead in the 20th minute adding a 2nd goal late in the first half. Jessica Sullivan pulling it back to 2-1 for Bedwell Rangers right at the start of the 2nd half, Flitwick responded straight away to restore their 2 goal lead Newton on target for her hat-trick doubling her tally for the season to 6 goals. Bedwell Rangers fighting back once again to bring it back to 3-2 on the hour, Sullivan scoring again her 12th goal of the season. The game moving into the final 20 minutes, Bedwell Rangers captain Georgia Miller struck with her 8th goal of the season to level the scores at 3-3 and see the sides share the points.

Stotfold Juniors Ladies capitalising on Bedwell Rangers draw winning all 3 points at home on Sunday to climb above them into 6th spot in the Division Three table. Meeting Evergreen Eagles for the 2nd successive Sunday a 4-1 win away from home last weekend a much close scoreline this time around Evergreen Eagles scoring twice, Stotfold on target to score 3 goals to win the game. The goals scored by Holly Konopka, Hope Page and top scorer Chloe Ward with her 12th of the campaign.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies return to the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One moving 3 points clear of St Albans Ladies who moved top on goal difference last weekend. St Albans involved in the League Cup this Sunday thier semi-final match at home to AFC Dunstable Women Blues abandoned due to an injury with St Albans 3-2 up at the time, to be replayed in a fortnights time. Wishing the injured players all the best for a speedy recovery.

  Hemel Hempstead were hosting Royston Town Women Development at the weekend in the league a cracking game between the sides a close scoreline Royston scoring through Holly Fox her first goal of the season unlucky in the finish not to take anything from the game losing 2-1. Hemel Hempstead strong throughout the 90 minutes scoring twice to win the game 2-1, Amy Bentall and Charlene Turturici-Clarke with the goals.

  Fifth placed Garston Ladies 1st team climb above their weekends opponents Hartham United Ladies to go fourth joining 3rd placed Northwood Ladies on 20 points. The game played at Hartham on Sunday a dominant display from the visitors Garston running out comfortable winners in the finish scoring 5 goals with out reply to make it 4 straight wins in the league. Jade Roberts on target to score a hat-trick. Cassandra Chase also on he scoresheet along with Sian Fisken scoring her 7th goal of the season.

The 2nd Hitchin derby of the season played this Sunday in Division One with Hitchin Town Ladies suffering 3 straight defeats against the top 3 in the league falling away from the top of the table at home to Hitchin Belles bottom of the table with just one point so far from their opening 10 games. A 4-0 win for Hitchin Town in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Hitchin Belles with an early goal this weekend Amy Jack scoring from a 20 yard free-kick. Hitchin Town coming back to level the scores and take the lead with Holly Darling netting both goals and own goal seeing Hitchin Town secure the 3 points with a 3-1 win that keeps them in contention for a top 4 finish just 2 points behind Northwood and Garston.

The points shared in a high scoring draw between Letchworth Garden City Eagles and Houghton Athletic Ladies in Division One at the weekend a brace each for Letchworth’s Tayla Murray and Houghton Athletic’c Ciara Craig both moving to 5 for the season. The game ending 3-3. Bethany Phillips scoring the other goal for Houghton Athletic her 4th of the campaign with Ellie Watson on target for her first goal of the season for Letchworth.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

 As tight as ever at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two the gap between the top 4 now once again just a point, with 3rd and 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies & Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses both winning away from home to join Langford Ladies in 2nd on 21 points one behind AFC Dunstable Women Blues at the top. 

  AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies were away to Watton Ladies this Sunday their first league match since December the 1st. Despite being short no numbers Kempston & Bedford comfortable at the final whistle winning the game 4-0 to collect the 3 points, Freya Green scoring a brace. Charlie Mullins on target to score her 6th goal of the season with Natasha Wing on the scoresheet to make it 5 for the campaign.

Reaching the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup final last weekend winning away to Houghton Athletic Ladies in their semi-final, Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses returned to winning ways in the league this Sunday away from home taking on Garston Ladies Vintage Purples. The hosts never able to get into their stride Woburn & Wavendon getting their noses in front on the half hour to lead 1-0 at the break with Jess Katsinas scoring her first goal for the club in her 3rd appearance. Holly Venn doubling the lead in the 2nd half with her 8th strike of the season to secure a 2-0 win for the visitors.

 Evergreen Ladies with a good 2nd half performance away to bottom side Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies on Sunday sees them pull further clear of the bottom 2 themselves. A fairly uneventful first half ending goalless between the pair. The dead lock broken early in the 2nd half with Louise Popkin putting Evergreen into the lead. Youngster Grace Gibbons scoring a brace to send the visitors into a 3-0 lead, another 2 from Rebecca Freeman seeing the game won 5-0.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Four matches played too in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three on Sunday. Herts Vipers topping the table making it 10 straight league wins since joining the league this season scoring plenty of goals too fast closing in on 80 goals whilst keeping it tight at the back conceding just 4 goals from those 10 games. Another clean sheet this Sunday away to Kempston Rovers Ladies as they ran in the goals up the other end. Kesley Mullen getting Herts Vipers off the mark within the opening minute scoring her 11th goal of the season. Top scorer Nicole Jancey on target to double the lead before the opening 15 minutes were up. Dominant Herts Vipers went 3-0 up 5 minutes later through a Tazmin Symonds Bishop goal. Midfielder Sarah Payne recently joining the side bringing a wealth of experience to the side celebrating her first goal for the club in the 35th minute. A 2nd goal for Millen late in the first period seeing Herts Vipers take a 5-0 lead into the break. Quickly became 6-0 at the start of the 2nd half Jancey scoring her 2nd of the game and 38th of the season. Payne winning Player of the Match scoring her 2nd of the game on the hour. Rachel Wall with a goal midway through the 2nd half sealing an 8-0 win for Herts Vipers.

  10 wins from 10 for Herts Vipers they can’t rest on their laurels in the race for the title as their lead remains just 3 points, beating Biggleswade United Ladies in a top of the table clash a fortnight ago Biggleswade in 3rd bounced back with a big home win over Flitwick Eagles Ladies last Sunday to move level with 2nd placed Harvesters Ladies. The pair meeting this weekend with Biggleswade the away side, a close match between the pair and despite making hard work of it at times Biggleswade came out on top to win the game 3-2 to claim the 3 points and move 3 points clear into 2nd themselves. Zoe Molloy scoring her 11th goal of the season, there were also goals for Grace Leslie and a first for the club for Sarah King.

Stotfold Juniors Ladies playing their first league match of 2020 this Sunday were away to Evergreen Eagles in Division Three. A hat-trick for top scorer Chloe Ward taking her into double figures for the season on 11 along with a goal for Holly Konopka securing a 4-0 win that keeps them right up on the sides battling for a top half finish in the league.

A third win of the season for Flitwick Eagles Ladies sees them pull further clear of the bottom sides after they won comfortably at home to bottom placed Buntingford Town Ladies on Sunday. Brittany Holdsworth scoring her 11th goal of the season firing Flitwick into the lead in the 22nd minute, Anna Bright with her 8th of the season quickly doubling the advantage. Charlie Newton scoring her first goal of the season with 5 minutes left in the half seeing Flitwick into a 3-0 lead at the break. Victoria Harrold also celebrating her first goal of the season adding to Flitwick’s lead 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Newton going on to score to more goals in the 64th and 84th minute to make it a hat-trick and a 6-0 win for the hosts.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

The County Cup action continues across both Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire this weekend with both competitions at the semi-final stage. Beginning with the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup, Luton Town Ladies had seen off rivals and current holders Bedford Ladies in the quarters finals were away to AFC Dunstable Women in the last 4 of the competition on Sunday. Both playing in the ERWFL, Dunstable’s new look young side struggling for points at the bottom of the table on a steep learning curve doing well to hold Luton to a goalless first half. Luton taking the lead 7 minutes into the 2nd half Ellie Sargeant with an absolute worldie to score her 1st goal for the club. 20 minutes left to play Dunstable fighting back to level the scores Lottie Nicholls with her first Dunstable goal. Luton though coming straight back to retake the lead with top scorer Jess McKay’s 14th goal of the season enough to take Luton into another Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup final.

The BHWGFL was already gaurenteed representation in a County Cup final this season as the other semi-final in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup saw Division One side Houghton Athletic Ladies at home to Division Two title challengers Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses. Scoring plenty of goals Woburn & Wavendon have also proved hard to break down at times this season and both saw them to victory in their semi-final clash. Keeping Houghton Athletic from scoring at one end ht them for 6 at the other end to book their spot in the final. Top scorer Giselle Randall scoring 4 in the game to move her to 17 for the season a brace in both halves. Georgia-Rose Edwards with two goals in the final 5 minutes to finish the scoring.

  The Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup Final to be played Sunday 15th March a 2pm kick-off further details to be announced.

Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup

Semi-final weekend too in Hertfordshire the Women’s Challenge Cup, and it will be a repeat of last season’s final with Stevenage FC Women and holders Watford U23s winning thier respective games on Sunday.

  Stevenage FC Women were at home taking on Watford Ladies Development. the FAWNL South East Division One side enjoying alot of success recently in the County Cup taking the lead through Ashleigh Deacon’s 3rd strike of the season, captain Amy Makewell firing home her 13th goal of the season doubling Stevenage’s advantage midway through the 2nd half to send them into the final itself for the sixth consecutive year.

  Holders Watford U23s were away to ERWFL Premier Division side Colney Heath Ladies in their semi-final at the weekend. Top scorer Samaira Khan coming on in the 38th minute opening the scoring in the 39th rounding the keeper to make it 1-0. Colney Heath with the advantage at half-time chances to extend their lead were restricting Watford’s chances at the other end the visitors though coming back to level with 15 minutes left to play through an unfortunate own goal ricocheting in off the keeper. Watford winning the game with 2 minutes left on the clock a looping ball forwards sent home to see them through to a 2nd successive cup final. 

 The Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup Final to be played Sunday 15th March a 2;30pm kick-off at the County Ground Letchworth.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Four games played across the 3 divisions in the BHWGFL this weekend. 2nd placed St Albans Ladies in action were at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles on Sunday A 2-2 draw with leaders Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies last weekend kept the gap between them to 3 points St Albans with a game in hand playing again this Sunday a positive result taking them top of the table on goal difference. Top scorer Eleanor Lovelock opening the scoring in the first half her 24th goal if the season coming in the 26th minute. Millie Guest with her first goal of the season just past the hour securing a 2-0 win for St Albans to sent them top of the league.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Two games played in Beds & Herts Division Two this Sunday despite what my results posts may have led you to believe. AFC Dunstable Blues going top of the table last weekend were at home again this weekend taking on Garston Ladies Vintage Purples. The damage done in the opening 10 minutes a quick fire double seeing Dunstable into a 2 goal lead, Kerry Mulvihill-Reed on target to score her 4th goal of the season in the 8th minute, Nicola Hollick scoring her 21st of the season 2 minutes later, Garston unable to find a reply, Dunstable with further chances to extend their lead move 5 points clear of 3rd placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. 

 Keeping pace with Dunstable in 2nd though are Langford Ladies remain a point behind as they won well away from home on Sunday in Division Two against Sherrardswood Ladies. Scoring half as many goals as Dunstable so far this season have by far the tightest defence in the league conceding just 3 goals so far from 8 played, another clean sheet at the weekend. Amber Clark with half of Langford’s goals, netting a hat-trick at the weekend to put her onto 15 for the campaign so far, Sophie Bounds also celebrating a goal along with Harriet Ford on the scoresheet for the first time this season Langford winning 5-0.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 One game in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three to report on, Biggleswade United Ladies moving back into 2nd spot with a comfortable home win over Flitwick Eagles Ladies on Sunday. Kayleigh Saunders scoring 5 times to see her closing in on 20 goals for the season. The goals spread around elsewhere with 4 other players on the scoresheet. Zoe Molloy collecting her 10th goal of the season, Tashai Simms putting the ball into the back of the net for her 7th a goal too for Jodie Molloy and a first Biggleswade goal for Vikki Ransom. The final score 9-0.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

A busy fixture lists across the Beds and Herts Women’s Football League with games in all three divisions and 8 cup ties from the Chris Renshaw Cup played this Sunday. Plenty of goals scored and some big games.

None more so than the top of the table clash in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One between 1st and 2nd. Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies 3 points clear at the top hosting 2nd placed St Albans Ladies who have a game in hand. Hemel Hempstead beating St Albans 3-1 in the reverse fixture at the start of the season. A cracking game of football by all accounts both sides on target for 2 goals in the first half Kayla Johnson netting a brace for St Albans giving her 8 for the season. Kayleigh Baker with her 4th of the season and a 10th goal of the campaign the Hemel Hempstead scorers all square at the break neither side able to breach the others defence for a winning goal 2nd half the points shared.

 The other game in Division One at the weekend saw Garston Ladies 1st team in 5th spot close the gap to 4th placed Hartham United Ladies to just a point as they won away from home to 2nd bottom Letchworth Garden City Eagles on Sunday. Garston edging the result 2-1 to take the 3 points home. Ruby Jager on the scoresheet for Garston was also given a red card the visitors ending with 10. 

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

The title race in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two remains as tight as ever the weekend starting with a 3 way tie at the top with Langford Ladies, Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses and AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies all on 18 points, AFC Dunstable Women Blues just two points behind in fourth after drawing with Sherrardswood Ladies last time out. Another top of the table clash saw them at home to Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses this Sunday the visitors ending Dunstable’s 100% winning start at the end of 2019 beating them 5-2 in the reverse fixture. A close game Dunstable keen to keep Woburn & Wavendon from scoring, taking a chance late in the 1st half to lead the game at the break 1-0 Holly Wilks putting away her 6th goal of the season. Chances to extend the lead coming in the 2nd half Dunstable eventually doubling their lead mid-way through the 2nd half Nicole Cameron on target for her 4th of the season, kept a clean sheet to win the match 2-0 and as a result go top of the table themselves by a point between the top 4 and 5th and 6th placed Garston Ladies Vintage Purples and Sherrardswood Ladies are far from out of it.

At the other end of the Division Two table a tough first half of the season for both Bedford Ladies Development and Evergreen Ladies. The latter making the journey to take on Bedford this weekend the hosts looking to build on last weekends 0-1 win away to bottom side Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies just their 2nd of the season the first coming against Wheathampstead back at the start of October. Just the one win too so far for Evergreen Ladies but the start of a new era, new management bringing a positive outlook. Evergreen falling behind early in the match Bedford doubling their lead scoring straight from a corner to go into half-time 2-0 up. Hannah Holden pulling Evergreen back to 2-1 early in the 2nd half. Bedford strong in the box going on to score a 3rd goal adding a further two, Ellie Smith with her first goal of the season scoring for Evergreen late on. Bedford making it back to back wins to start 2020, Remi Bains and Charlotte Demmon both scoring a brace apiece with Alicja Olszanka also on target to score her 9th goal of the season.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Also a top of the table meeting in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday with leader Herts Vipers taking their 100% winning start to 3rd placed Biggleswade United Ladies themselves just losing the one match in the league this season that a narrow 3-2 defeat to Herts Vipers early in the season. Just 3 points in at at the start of play. Herts Vipers opening the scoring on 30 minutes Kelsey Millen lobbing the keeper from outside the box to put the visitors 1-0 up, that the advantage at half-time. Millen scoring her 2nd and 10th of the season early in the 2nd half after the initial shot was parried by the goalkeeper Millen there to send over the line. Millen turning provider for Herts Vipers 3rd goal crossing the ball in put away in the 64th minute by top scorer Nicole Jancey for her 36th goal of the season. Helen Coster with her first goal for Biggleswade pulling it back to 3-1 with 15 minutes to play. Herts Vipers making it 9 wins from 9 to go 3 points clear of Harvesters Ladies at the top of the table.

Evergreen Eagles were celebrating their first win of the season in Division Three from open play last Sunday getting 2020 off to a positive start. This weekend they were away to bottom side Buntingford Town Ladies who were the only side in the league without a point on the board losing all 7 league games played so far. The pair playing a high scoring game Buntingford getting themselves into a 5-0 lead. Evergreen Eagles mounting a terrific fight back Samantha Takis scoring in the 50th minute would go on to complete her hat-trick in the final 10 minutes of the match Christine Brewer also scoring for the visitors Buntingford survived the sustained pressure going on to win the match 6-4 and celebrate their first win of the season.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

Plenty of cup action to report on too this weekend with 8 ties from the 2nd round of The Chris Renshaw Cup. Alot of goals scored and some big wins too. The biggest by far Northwood Ladies home win against Whetstone Wanderers Ladies. A huge gap between the sides with Northwood fighting at the top of Division One, Whetstone Wanderers in contrast struggling for results at the bottom of Division Three. Despite having only 10 players available due to illness and injury Northwood proved too strong and opponent, Whetstone kept going but Northwood found the back of the net at regular intervals to win the game 17-0. 4 goals each for Emma Steele and Scarlett Keightley. Both Joanne Horwood and Samantha May netting a hat-trick there were also goals for Leanne Jones and Emma Marshall.

Been a tough season so far for Hitchin Belles since winning promotion to Beds & Herts Division One collecting just the 1 point from 10 games played. The Chris Renshaw providing a break from their league struggle, were taking Division Three side Flitwick Eagles Ladies on at home this weekend in the 2nd round of the competition. A much welcome victory for Hitchin Belles the final result 7-1 to see them progress in the cup. Millie Fraser scoring a hat-trick. Emily Field on target for her 5th goal of the season. Their were first goals of the season to for Charlotte Peters and a brace for Kayleigh Grey. Brittany Holdsworth with a late consolation for Flitwick.

Division One side Houghton Athletic Ladies were drawn away to Division Three pace setters Harvesters Ladies in the 2nd round of The Chris Renshaw Cup a potentially tricky tie. Houghton Athletic coming through safely to advance into the next round winning the match 5-1 despite having Shakeela Hussain sent off. Louise Spendelow on target to score a brace their were goals to for Emily Wilson and Ciara Craig along with Eireann O’Donoghue scoring her first goal of the season. Louise Avery with the goal for Harvesters.

One Division One side knocked out of the competition though are Royston Town Women Development as they lost in the final minute away to Division Two side Sherrardswood Ladies. The sides level at 2-2 heading into the closing minutes, an OG and a 55th minute goal from Abby Cardell for Sherrardswood. Eve Chappell and Sabrina Purser scoring for Royston and 89th minute goal for Rhianna Rose saw Sherrardswood clinch the game at the death 3-2. 

Leading Beds & Herts Women’s Division Tow going into the weekend Langford Ladies were at home to fellow league side Wheathampstead Wanderers  Ladies in the 2nd round of The Chris Renshaw Cup. Goals from Leah Holmes and Ayesha Brown enough to see of the club bottom of the league 2-0.

  Also in the mix for the Division Two title are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. Were at home to Division Three side Stotfold Juniors Ladies  in the 2nd round of the competition on Sunday. The host safely through to the next round winning the game by 4 goal to nil. Freya Green scoring her first goal for the club. Natasha Wing also on the scoresheet along with Helen Spalding with a brace.

Emma Trill on target for five goals as Garston Ladies Vintage Purple won comfortably at home to Division Three side Bedwell Rangers Ladies in their first match of 2020 to advance in The Chris Renshaw Cup. Yasmin Sabri opening the scoring for Garston. Trill leading the attack making it 2-0 overnight rain making playing conditions tricky Bedwell pulling it back to 2-1 a great strike from Jessica Sullivan. Garston getting themselves into a 3-1 lead Lucy Zecchin slotting the ball under the keeper. Trill with her 2nd of the game lobbing the keeper from outside the box to see the hosts 4-1 up at the break. Garston starting the 2nd half where they left of the first Trill going on to complete her hat-trick. A 4th goal for Trill turned in at the near post, then put through on goal to score her 5th of the game. 7-1 up Garston adding an 8th from a corner Samantha Roads rising highest to head home celebrating a goal on her birthday. Bedwell scoring an absolute screamer with the final kick of the game to make it 8-2 Georgia Miller the scorer.

Hitching Town Ladies Reserves the only Division Three side left in the competition as they took their recent good form into the cup knocking out Division Two side Watton Ladies in the 2nd round of The Chris Renshaw Cup on Sunday. 5 straight wins going into the game and despite not being in action for 5 weeks that run continued. April Spang enjoying herself in attack for Hitchin scoring an early brace adding a hat-trick in the 2nd half. Her 5 goals taking her to 20 for the season a goal too for Ellie Coyler as Hitchin Town Reserves ran out 6-3 winners. Elizabeth Dowton, Gemma Bickell and Sian Owens scoring for Watton.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

League leaders Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies sat out the first round of fixtures in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this Sunday giving another opportunity for the chasing sides to close the gap at the top that had opened up to 6 points at the end of 2019. St Albans Ladies up to 2nd in the table mounting a strong challenge losing just one game so far this season with a game in hand on Hemel Hempstead were looking to narrow it to 3 points at home to Hitchin Town Ladies this Sunday before they meet Hemel Hempstead for the 2nd time this season this coming Sunday. This Sunday an early set back for St Albans as they fell behind Estelle Klausner with her first goal for Hitchin  putting the visitors into the lead. St Albans though fought back to level and go on to win the match 3-1 with Cally Salter scoring a hat-trick to move her onto 16 goals for the season.

Hot on St Albans Ladies heels a point behind in 3rd place are Northwood Ladies as they racked up a big result away from home to bottom side Hitchin Belles at the start of the new year. A tough first half of the season playing in Division One for Hitchin Belles having won the Division Two title last season, the bare 11 available on Sunday, Northwood a strong side with plenty of goals in them. Top scorer Emma Steele captaining the side on Sunday scoring a hat-trick to put her on 15 for the season. Three players netting a brace, Leanne Jones, Hannah Marshall and her appearance Megan Warner. First goals too for Lucy Wallace and Lisa-Marie Carty with Zamina Rehemtulla also on the scoresheet in a 12-2 win for Northwood. Gemma Smith and Emma Wallis scoring for Hitchin Belles.

 Making up the top four in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One are Hartham United Ladies, started 2020 with an away trip to 2nd bottom Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Steffany Cowell opening the scoring for Hartham with a fantastic 25 yards strike with the outside of her boot. Letchworth coming back to level the scores. Top scorer Janiece Allen put through on goal to beat the keeper restoring Hartham’s lead 2-1 up a misplaced goal kick presented to Kat Calvert 35 yards out a brilliant finish seeing the game won 3-1.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Incredibly tight at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with 3 points separating the top 4 sides at the end of 2019. Two of the top 4 in action this weekend 3rd and 4th placed AFC Dunstable Women Blues & Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses both looking to join the leading pair Langford Ladies and AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies on 18 points. 

  Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses losing just the one game back on the opening day at home to Watton Ladies to kick off 2020. Sian Owens and Elizabeth Dowton on target for their first Watton goals of the season, it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game as Woburn & Wavendon hit them for 4 up the other end top scorer Giselle Randall opening and finishing the scoring with a brace scoring in the 13th and 90th minute Holly Venn with her 7th of the season scoring in the first half with Jessica Greaves scoring her first goal midway through the 2nd half. Woburn & Wavendon moving into 2nd spot in the table on goal difference.

Just the one defeat too this season for AFC Dunstable Women Blues, they began 2020 with an away fixture with Sherrardswood Ladies. A head injury to Sherrardswood goalkeeper seeing the reverse fixture abandoned earlier in the season. Dunstable are scoring alot of goals this season Bianca Vassell and Nicola Hollick ending 2019 with 20 goals each, Vassell creeping back into the lead as she fired Dunstable into a 34th minute lead. Sherrardswood coming back to level the scores within 5 minutes a superb strike from the edge of the box by Laura Cousins finding the top corner to make it 1-1 with her 8th goal of the season. 1-1 at half-time few chances in the 2nd half Sherrardswood battling hard in defence with a couple of good chances themselves saved towards the end of the match the points shared.

At the other end of the Division Two table it was a close match between bottom side Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies and Bedford Ladies Development. The visitors Bedford celebrating the first Sunday of 2020 with a win a 3 much needed points. Just their 2nd win of the season coming courtesy of a single goal scored by top scorer Alicja Olszanka her 8th goal of the season.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

An away win awarded to Herts Vipers at the weekend against Stotfold Juniors sees them return to the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three after Harvesters Ladies suffered a surprise 2nd defeat of the season away to Bedwell Rangers Ladies. A great result for Bedwell Rangers to start 2020 against the side leading the table at the start of play. Bedwell rangers doing well to hold Harvesters to a goalless draw in the first half got off to a great start in the 2nd period Rachel Young with her 11th goal of the season putting the hosts 1-0 up in the 47th minute. Georgia Miller seeing the lead doubled with 15 minutes left netting her 5th goal of the season added a 2nd goal 3 minutes from time to seal a memorable 3-0 win taking Bedwell Rangers back up to 5th in the table. 

Right behind Bedwell rangers are Kempston Rovers Ladies a point back in 6th position enjoying a good 1st half of the season themselves began 2020 with a 5th win of the season at home to Flitwick Eagles Ladies. Six weeks without a game for Kempston Rovers, Hannah Meadwell opened her account for the season scoring a great headed goal in the 10th minute. Brittany Holdsworth with her 9th goal of the season getting Flitwick straight back on level terms. Kempston Rovers retaking the lead through an 8th goal of the season form Ellie Newberry-Bierton settling down Kempston Rovers went on to enjoy a strong 2nd half with Hoffi Pursey netting a hat-trick and Megan Burnapp firing in from a free-kick to see the match won 6-1.

Evergreen Eagles welcomed 2020 in with their first 3 points from open play this season. Previously awarded the 3 points against Whetstone Wanderers Ladies, Evergreen Eagles were the visitors this Sunday. Has been a tough season so far for both clubs a hat-trick from captain Samantha Takis along with a goal for Samantha Feeney helping Evergreen Eagles to a 5-1 victory enough to take them up to 8th in the Division Three table. Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup

One outstanding quarter final tie to be played from the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup postponed at the end of 2019 a tough tie for Beds & Herts Women’s Division One side Garston Ladies 1st team as they travelled to play the current holders of the cup, Watford Ladies U23s. Leading the way in the FAWNL South East Reserves Division with just one defeat so far Watford proved too strong an opponent racking up a hefty scoreline. Ceri Milnes opening the scoring for the hosts in the 11th minute. Charli O’Connor and Chiara Meola with a quickfire double to make it 3-0 on 20 minutes, further goals from Echo Barrett, Anaisa Harvey and a 2nd from Meola saw Watford leading 6-0 at half-time. Ran rampant in the 2nd half adding another 10 to win the game 16-0. O’Connor and Harvey both going on to score a hat-trick. Eshe Davies scoring a brace there were goals to for Rubie Smith, Hannah Coote and Afiya Johnson along with an own goal.

Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup

Another quarter final tie played in the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup this Sunday and a huge test for young side Herts Vipers top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three as they played host to FAWNL South east Division One side Stevenage FC Women on Sunday. Herts Vipers though full of confidence a 100% winning start to the league. A competitive tussle Herts Vipers fighting all the way taking their higher league opponents all the way to extra-time. Stevenage taking the lead in the 10th minute awarded a free-kick 35 yards out Tamsyn Sibanda lifting it in over the keeper. Nicole Jancey firing in the goals for Herts Vipers getting them back on level terms just past the half hour with her 34th goal of the season. Stevenage coming straight back to retake the lead Amy Josland firing home her first of the season to give Stevenage a 2-1 lead at the break. Further opportunities for Stevenage to extend their lead 2nd half Herts Vipers though coming back to level the scores with 15 minutes left to play Jancey with her 2nd of the game completed a hat-tick a minute later to put Herts Vipers 3-2 ahead. Stevenage fighting back to level it up at 3-3 with 6 minutes left to play Josland setting up Katie Knell to send the tie into extra-time. A mix-up at the back for Herts Vipers seeing an own goal scored, Stevenage advancing to the last four of the Challenge Cup. Watford Ladies Development also through awarded the win against Sherrardswood Ladies. Colney Heath Ladies already through just one semi-final spot to be decided between Garston Ladies 1st team and holders Watford Ladies U23s.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

A limited programme to end the year across the 3 divisions in the Beds & Herts Women’s Football League. Two matches in Division One on Sunday and 2019 ends on a positive note for Hitchin Belles as they secured their first point in the league on Sunday away to Houghton Athletic Ladies. Amy Jack’s 60th minute goal seeing them draw 1-1 with Houghton Athletic whose goal was scored by Bethany Phillips.

Northwood Ladies climb up a place to 3rd in the Division One table to within a point of 2nd placed St Albans Ladies as they recorded a 5th straight league win at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles at the weekend. Joanne Horwood scoring a hat-trick for Northwood, their was also a brace each for Emma Marshall and top scorer Emma Steele who now has 12 for the season along with a goal for Danielle Tyler her first of the season. Northwood winning the match 8-1. Tayla Murray with the goal for Letchworth.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

It was an intense battle at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three last season between, AFC Dunstable Women Blues, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies, Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses and Langford Ladies last season all four going up to Division Two, the battle at the top is no less furious this time around with all 4 firmly in contention just 3 points between them. Three of the four in action this weekend in the two matches played in the league. 

  AFC Dunstable Women Blues defending a 100% winning start travelling to play Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses who themselves have lost just the once this season. Nicola Hollick with her 20th goal of the season firing Dunstable into the lead inside 7 minutes. Woburn & Wavendon back level before the opening quarter hour Giselle Randell with her 10th of the season making it 1-1. Charlie Bedford with her first goal of the season putting Woburn & Wavendon in front just 3 minutes later. Laura Taylor adding a 3rd for the hosts late in the first half to see them 3-1 up at the break. Dunstable pulling it back to 3-2 in the 63rd minute with Courtney McNamara getting her name on the scoresheet. Pushing for an equaliser Woburn & Wavendon get up the other end to score a 4th goal with 10 minutes left. Randall securing a 5-2 victory for Woburn & Wavendon with 2 minutes left. Join Dunstable on 15 points 3rd and 4th in the table. 

 18 points for 2nd placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies again losing just the once this season a matching record for Langford Ladies who take over the lead on goal difference with a double figure home win against bottom side Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies on Sunday. Two players celebrating hat-tricks for Langford, top scorer Amber Clark who now has 12 for the season and the first of the season for Chloe Scott who scored 21 herself last season. 10-0 the final score their was also a brace each for Rebecca Reeve and Leah Holmes.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

One game played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three at the weekend Bedwell Rangers Ladies were away to Flitwick Eagles Ladies a high scoring match between the sides a good first half from Flitwick saw them leading 3-1 at the break thanks to goals from Sammy Beharry and Anna Bright plus a first of the campaign for Casey Tutt. Bedwell Rangers picking up their game in the 2nd period coming back to level the scores adding a further two goals to win 5-3 to end the year back up to 5th spot in the table.

Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup

One tie played this weekend in the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup quarter finals, ERWFL Premier Division side Colney Heath Ladies hosting Beds & Herts Women’s Division One side St Albans Ladies in the last 8 of the competition. Both sides in good form so far this season St Albans having had a run in the FA Women’s Cup earlier in the season. The lower league sides starting well top scorer Eleanor Lovelock firing St Albans into the lead inside 3 minutes. Sophie Hull adding a 2nd goal just past the quarter hour. A debatable penalty giving Colney heath a chance to pull a goal back their top scorer Samaira Khan finishing from the spot. St Albans continued to play well create chances had Colney Heath under pressure Lovelock scoring her 2nd of the match and 21st overall to put the visitors into a 3-1 lead. A big 2nd half needed from Colney Heath started well Charlene Moreton latching onto a poor goalkick to pull it back to 3-2 in the 47th minute. 10 minutes later and Colney Heath were level at 3-3 Moreton scoring again. The turn around complete midway through the 2nd half Moreton combining with Rianne Townsend-Brown to complete her hat-trick. St Albans not out of it by any means opportunities to score kept coming Amy Butler saving in goal for Colney Heath, Moreton turning in a cross to score her fourth of the match to make it 5-3 with 15 minutes left. Colney Heath through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies were threatening to runaway with it at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One the defending champions 6 points clear at the top of the table winning all of their 8 matches played so far. That run coming to an end at the weekend as they suffered their first defeat of the season away to Northwood Ladies. Northwood’s own form in recent weeks improving came into the match on the back of 3 straight league wins. A 1-0 win for Hemel Hempstead in the reverse fixture back in September. This weekend the game another close affair. Ella Mercer and Charlene Turturici-Clarke scoring for Hemel Hempstead, a brace from top scorer Emma Steele giving her 10 for the season plus a first of the season for Joanne Horwood seeing Northwood edge it 3-2 move up to 4th in the Division One table.

Also moving a pace up the Division One table at the weekend are Garston Ladies 1st up to 5th joining Northwood on 14 points. Were away to bottom side Hitchin Belles on Sunday. Sian Fisher on target to score her 5th goal of the season, a goal from Cassandra Chase and a first of the season for Jade Roberts securing the points with a 3-0 victory.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Two matches played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two also this Sunday with big away wins for two of the top three to put all three level on 21 points. Herts Vipers back to the top of the pile on goal difference closing in on 70 scored so far this season as they extended their 100% winning start to 7 matches away to Bedwell Rangers Ladies. Kesley Millen named as the clubs new vice-captain starting the scoring with the first goal of the match in the 8th minute. Two quick fire goal from Rachel Wall and top scorer Nicole Jancey had Herts Vipers 3-0 up just 3 minutes later. The visitors with a purple patch in front of goal hammering home their advantage, Rebecca Scott adding a 4th goal in the 18th minute, Wall firing in a double a minute later to complete her hat-trick. Millen repeating the feat soon after 2 goals in the 22nd and 25th minutes to have a first half hat-trick of her own. 8 goals scored with barely half an hour played the game settled down some what. Bedwell working hard trying to play the right way Herts Vipers adding a 9th just before the break Tazmin Symonds Bishop scoring. The 2nd half seeing just the one goal added by Herts Vipers with 20 minutes left Millen netting her 4th of the game. The final score 10-1, Bedwell Rangers goal scored by Georgia Miller.

  A big away win for Biggleswade United Ladies too at the weekend in Division Three taking them up to 2nd in the table in between Herts Vipers and Harvesters Ladies. Were taking on Stotfold Juniors Ladies. Robyn Gibbons putting Biggleswade into the lead in the 17th minute. Kayleigh Saunders putting Biggleswade 2-0 up 10 minutes later. Zoe Molloy adding a 3rd goal as the visitors finished the first period strongly top scorer Leeanne Davison getting her 18th goal of the season with Tashai Simms scoring on the stroke of half-time to see Biggleswade 5-0 up. More goal coming 2nd half Saunders scoring her 2nd of the game and 14th overall 5 minutes after the restart. Molloy and Simms both adding another goal with Annabelle Gee scoring her first Biggleswade goal on the 80th minute to see the match won 9-0.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

This weekend also saw the beginning of The Chris Renshaw Cup, three tie played on Sunday in the 1st Round of the competition. Evergreen Ladies and Sherrardswood Ladies were meeting for the 3rd successive match. The previous two encounters full of drama and goals, a 7-4 extra-time win in the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup for Sherrardswood in November the points shared in a 3-3 draw in Division Two now meeting for a 3rd time in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup. Plenty of goals in this one two although a very contrasting scoreline. Sherrardswood starting well Laura Cousins with the opening goal inside 10 minutes. Manjinder Atwal then rattling in an 11 minute hat-trick, Abby Cardell also on the scoresheet to see Sherrardswood 5-0 with just 22 minutes gone. Cousins scoring her 2nd of the game late in the first half to see the visitors 6-0 at half-time. Sherrardswood continuing in the same vain in the 2nd half Francesca Novelli scoring a brace to put them 8-0 before an hours play. Leane Pickett with her first of the season pulling one back for Evergreen as good as it would get Cousins going onto complete her hat-trick. The game entering the final 10 minutes Lola Steiner making just her 2nd appearance for Sherrardswood scored her first goal for the club the final score 11-1 with Atwal adding her 4th of the match in the final 5 minutes.

Harvester Ladies going into the weekend top of Beds & Herts Division Three were at home to Division One side Letchworth Garden City Eagles in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup. A high scoring encounter that saw the pair share 9 goals. Natasha Reynolds, Kim Franklin and  Samantha Coughlan with their first goals of the season for Letchworth plus one for Katie Smith seeing them put for past their opponents, Harvesters though through to the next round of the competition scoring one more to win it 5-4.

A good result in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup for Division Three side Hitchin Town Ladies Reserves as they beat Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses doing well this season in Division Two. Despite a good start to the game from Woburn & Wavendon, it was Hitchin who opened the scoring Ellen Beary making her first start for the club putting a looping shot into the top corner in the 9th minute. Chances followed for both sides Hitchin holding onto their 1-0 advantage at half-time. Top scorer April Spang latching onto a scuffed goalkick on the hour sending the ball home to put Hitchin 2-0 ahead. The lead made more secure in the final 20 minutes Spang with her 15th of the season putting Hitchin 3 goals up. A late penalty for Woburn & Wavendon saw Giselle Randall pull a goal back Hitchin though safely through to the next round winning 3-1. Also through to the next round of The Chris Renshaw Cup are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies awarded the home win against Kempston Rovers Ladies.
