Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

 It remains an ever changing picture at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One, St Albans Ladies with a big win at home last Sunday the latest side to occupy top spot in the league. This Sunday they were hosting previous leaders Northwood Ladies who ha held fellow title hopefuls Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies to two successive 2-2 draws home and away. The lead changing once again with Northwood coming out on top goals from Danielle Tyler and Megan Warner securing a 2-0 win taking them a point clear of the chasing pack 3 sides all on 23 points.

  St Albans Ladies 2nd, Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires are 3rd joining them on 23 points in 4th spot go Houghton Athletic Ladies. An away trip to Garston Ladies 2nd XI this Sunday goals from Shakeela Hussain, top scorers Emily Wilson and a goal for Holly Thomson in her 1st game for Houghton Athletic seeing the visitors win the game 3-1 to move above Hemel Hempstead. Holly Jury with the goal for Garston. Hemel Hempstead two points back from the top 4 crucially have 2 to 3 games in hand on them all.

   Also in Division One this Sunday it was a home win for Sharnbrook WFC, earning the 3 points with a narrow victory over Sherrardswood Ladies, Francesca Novelli with a 22nd minute goal for the visitors, Sharnbrook scoring twice to clinch the win 2-1.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Hitchin Town Ladies won away from home in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday to close the gap to leaders Hitchin Belles back to 3 points with a game in hand. Hitchin Town were taking on Watton Ladies at the weekend. Got off to a fantastic start with Louise Gash through on goal to score inside 2 minutes, 4 minutes later the visitors were 2-0 up Mandy Cain-Murnane trying her luck from distance to score. Both sides battling the windy conditions Watton had a goal disallowed for offside midway through the first half. 2-0 it remained heading into the last 5 minutes Sherrie Evans with her first goal for Hitchin Town scoring in her 3rd appearance to make it 3-0 on 85 minutes, 2 minutes later it was 4-0 with Lauren Wyatt also into her 3rd appearance scoring her first for the club to see Hitchin Town win the game 4-0.

   A ninth league win of the season sees Letchworth Garden City Eagles in 4th keep the pressure on the leading pack a point now behind 3rd place Royston Town Ladies Development with 2 games in hand. Letchworth were away to Evergreen Eagles this Sunday. Kate Tempest scoring a hat-trick for the visitors has 7 for the season. Top scorer Tayla Murray also amongst the goals netting a brace to move onto 12 for the campaign, with Emily Jamieson also getting her 7th goal of the season in a 6-2 win for Letchworth.

   5th placed Evergreen Ladies were hosting bottom side Welwyn Pegasus Azures this Sunday in Division Two a good first half to the game saw Evergreen into a 5-0 lead with a goals for Rebecca Freeman and Natalie Maher along with her first goals of the season for Amira Nekikeche celebrating a hat-trick. April Spang pulling a goal back for Welwyn early in the 2nd half it was as good as it got with Maher scoring a 2nd of Evergreen to see them run out 6-1 winners.

   A single goal enough to secure all 3 points in the other game to report on in Division Two, going to Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies at home taking on Bedford Ladies Development on Sunday.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Two matches played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday. 5th placed Biggleswade United Ladies consolidating their position with a good result at home to Kempston Rovers Ladies. Sarah King doubling her goals tally for the season as she scored 5 goals on Sunday for Biggleswade to move into double figures. Tashai Simms also finding the back of the net for a goal along with top scorers Leeanne Davison chalking up her 17th of the campaign in a 7-2 win. Meghan Dimmock and Beth Prior scoring for Kempston Rovers.

  Stotfold Juniors Ladies climb above Kempston Rovers as a result of that defeat coupled with victory at home on Sunday in the league over Buntingford Town Ladies. Stotfold winning the game 2-0.

The Chris Renshaw Cup

One outstanding quarter final tie remaining in The Chris Renshaw Cup, postponed last time out Division Three leaders AFC Dunstable Ladies Development were away to Garston Ladies 1st team struggling for results in Division One. Garston getting themselves into an early lead 1-0 up after 6 minutes, Dunstable coming back late in the first half to score two quickfire goals to lead 2-1 at the interval, Holly Wilks and top scorer Bianca Vassell with the goals. Garston back on level term 7 minutes into the first half scored a 3rd on the hour to lead 3-2, that would prove to be the winning goal, Garston’s 1st team joining their 2nd XI in the last 4 of the competition, Jane Hales, Emma Trill and Lucy Zecchin the players getting the goals. 

  Both Garston sides with a home draw in the semi-finals to be played on the 24th March, Garston 1st team up against another Division Three high flyer Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses whilst the 2nd XI are up against Division Two title chasers, Hitchin Town Ladies.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

A packed Sunday of league fixtures across all three divisions in the Beds and Herts Women’s Football League. The league changing in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One as the top two drew against each other. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires benefiting as they won the 3 points at home at the weekend to return to the top of the table. Were taking on Garston Ladies 2nd XI. Janiece Allen having previously scored plenty of goals for Welwyn Pegasus’ sister club the Azures scoring 4 against Garston on Sunday. Takes her to 17 for 11 appearances this season. Chemise Huitson also finding the back of the net for her 9th goal of the season as Welwyn Pegasus won the game 5-2 . Maddie Gordon and Charley Kelsey with the goals for Garston who slip to the foot of the Division One table, have played just 6 league games to date.

   Northwood Ladies went into the weekend narrowly leading Beds & Herts Division One were away to 2nd placed Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies this Sunday. Northwood looking for a positive result after suffering defeat last weekend with a depleted squad, dug deep against Hemel Hempstead to ear a point Holly Gilder scoring twice. Bianca Hedgecock and Charlene Turturici-Clarke with the goals for Hemel Hempstead who still have games in hand on all the other title challengers in Division One.

  Incredibly tight still in the league with just 3 points between the leaders and 5th placed Houghton Athletic Ladies. St Albans Ladies the defending champions sandwiching themselves into 3rd now between Northwood and Hemel Hempstead all on 20 points as they secured the 3 points away to Sharnbrook WFC on Sunday. Eleanor Lovelock with a goal midway through the 1st half putting St Albans into the lead doubled the advantage just past the hour the win secured in the final 5 minutes with Sophie Hull on target to make it 3-0. Lovelock completing her hat-trick in the 89th minute, her 12th of the season sealing a 4-0 win.

  A tough season all round so far for the Garston sides in Division One, Garston Ladies 1st team at home to fellow strugglers Sherrardswood Ladies this Sunday both sides earning a point, enough to move Garston’s 1st team off the bottom. Emma Trill scoring twice for Garston with Jane Hales also on target for a goal. A point for Sherrardswood Rhiana Rose scoring twice for the visitors one a penalty, with Francesca Novelli finding the back of the net in the 88th minute.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Hitchin Belles have a two week break now form the league, they go into it in good form with a 6 point lead at the top of the Division Two table. Just the one league defeat to date chalked up an 11th win of the season this Sunday at home to Evergreen Ladies. Leading 1-0 at the half-time interval Hitchin Belles going on to score twice more in the 2nd half to win 3-0. Keira How scoring her 11th of the campaign. Top scorer Katie White firing in her 18th of the season and a 3rd of the season for Bonnita Woodward the goalscorers for Hitchin Belles.

  Local rivals Hitchin Town Ladies in 2nd position in Division Two have two games in hand on Hitchin Belles. This weekend saw their local rivals extend their lead at the top as they had to settle for a point away to 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development on Sunday. The visitors taking the lead in a battling encounter on 27 minutes captain Emma Chaffey there to nod home after Rebecca Day’s shot struck the crossbar. Royston pushing for a reply 2nd half equalising through Sammy Tinsley in the 67th minute. Hitchin working hard in defence to prevent the hosts getting another, 11 the final score.

  The bottom two met in the league on Sunday with Evergreen Eagles and Welwyn Pegasus Azures having 4 points each going into the game. Christie Brewer winning the game for Evergreen as she scored a hat-trick for the hosts in a 3-2 win, Samantha Coughlan with her first of the season with a goal in the first half for Welwyn, Fiona Davies striking late in injury time with the 2nd goal.

  Bedford Ladies Development also winning at home at the weekend were hosting Watton Ladies. A good result winning 4-0 seeing them win for just the 2nd time in Division Two.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

4 games played too in beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday. A 9th straight league win for AFC Dunstable Ladies Development this Sunday as they travelled to play Kempston Rovers Ladies. Lauren Brooker scoring in the 6th minute and a goal from Holly Wilks saw Dunstable into a 2-0 half-time lead. The rest of the goals were saved for the final 6 minutes of the match with Nicola Hollick scoring to put the visiting side 3-0 up in the 84th minute. Kempston Rovers struck back immediately with Chelsea Jeffery breaching Dunstable’s defence for a goal. Dunstable responding by going straight up the other end to restore their 3 goal cushion Wilks with her 2nd of the game the final score 5-1 with top scorer Bianca Vassell adding another goal to her tally in the final minute.

   Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses continue to keep the pressure on their Bedfordshire rivals at the top of Division Three a point behind in 2nd they won big at home on Sunday against Buntingford Town Ladies who were only playing for the 2nd time in 2019 their last game back on the 6th January. Woburn & Wavendon winning with a double figure scoreline. Top scorer Giselle Randall finding the back of the net for 4 goals moves to 18 for the season. Georgia Payne getting a hat-trick too in the match, with Laura Sephton on target for a brace with Molly Churchill also amongst the goalscorers with her 1st of the season. Woburn & Wavendon winning 10-1.

   AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies lay in 3rd position in Division Three and will be hoping either of the top two slip up if they wish to close the 5 point gap to the top. Were away this Sunday taking on Biggleswade United Ladies. Chloe Urbanowicz on target scoring her 17th of the season for Kempston, there were goals to for Bex Cray and Zara Garrad who move onto 14 and 11 respectfully and a goal for Taylor Kingston in a 4-1 victory to take the visitors to 23 points from 10 played. Karen Clark with the Biggleswade goal.

   A 3-3 draw between Bedwell Rangers Ladies and Stotfold Juniors Ladies in The Chris Renshaw Cup last weekend. Bedwell missing out on penalties in the finish the two sides meet again this Sunday at Bedwell in the league, the hosts again scoring 3 with Rachel Young scoring along with two for Isabella Townsend her 1st goals of the season. It wasn’t enough unfortunately for Bedwell to get anything from the game as Stotfold secured the win scoring 4 against them.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

Both semi-finals in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup fell victim to the weather last weekend, held a week later it will be a repeat of last season’s final with Luton Town Ladies taking on the current holders Bedford Ladies on Sunday 17th March.

  Luton Town Ladies were playing their first game at their new home The Brache, Luton Town FC’s training facility. Were taking on AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies from Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three, a good test for the lower league side the newcomers to woman’s football playing 5 leagues lower than their FAWNL South East Division One opponents. Held Luton for nearly 40 minutes before the hosts took a quick two goal lead at the end of the first half. Dionne Manning making it 1-0, Erica Byron doubling the lead a minute later. Jess McKay extending Luton’s lead 12 minutes into the 2nd half. Into the last 20 minutes an the hosts were awarded a penalty Byron adding her 2nd of the game from the spot. McKay made it 5-0 soon after. Further chances came Luton’s way the woodwork struck twice before captain Zara Carroll’s long range strike found it’s way into the back of the net. McKay completing her hat-trick in the final minute to wrap up a 7-0 win for Luton.

  In the other semi-final in the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup it was an all ERWFL Premier Division clash with holders Bedford Ladies away to AFC Dunstable Ladies on Sunday. Goals from Michelle Byrne, Amy Magnus and Eden Kibron seeing Bedford safely into the final where they will be aiming to retain the cup for a 2nd successive year against a Luton side keen to get the cup back in their trophy cabinet themselves. Venue and kick-off time to be announced.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

New leaders in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with Northwood Ladies climbing to the top of the pile in what is a competitive tussle for the title. Northwood playing in one of the two games to survive in the league on Sunday were away to Sherrardswood Ladies. A comfortable scoreline taking Northwood ahead of Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires on goal difference. Emma Steele leading the goal scoring charts netting a hat-trick against Sherrardswood to take her onto 14 for the season. Danielle Tyler scoring her 10th goal of the season along with a goal each for Leanne Jones & Samantha May in a 6-0 win.

   Houghton Athletic Ladies in 4th were taking on 6th placed Sharnbrook WFC in the league on Sunday, both in a good position to put pressure on the sides above shared the points at the weekend the game ending all square a 1 goal a piece. Ciara Craig on target for Houghton Athletic with Claire Smith celebrating the goal for Sharnbrook.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

Two of the scheduled 5 matches in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two fell foul to the elements including leaders Hitchin Town Ladies game away to 4th placed Letchworth Garden City Eagles that presented an opportunity for 2nd placed Hitchin Belles to close the gap to the leaders to just 2 points if they could secure victory at home to Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies. Hitchin Belles getting the result they wanted a strong first half saw them leading 4-0 matched that tally 2nd half. There is a battle going on for top scorers and all the contenders waded in with goals this Sunday, Katie White edging it scored a hat-trick to take her onto 14 for the season, Amy Jack and Charlotte Peters hot on her heels both netting a brace against Wheathampstead have 12 each. Gemma Smith also getting her name on the scoresheet for her 1st goal of the season.

   Royston Town Ladies Development were away to bottom side Welwyn Pegasus Azures on Sunday. The 3rd placed side too with an opportunity to put pressure on the leaders. Had to settle for a point in the finish as Welwyn picked up their first competitive point of the season their previous points awarded. Scoring twice to match Royston whose goals were scored by Abby Laughlin and Nicole Cooper.

   Evergreen Ladies 5th in Division Two were on the road on Sunday taking on Bedford Ladies Development, the visitors taking the lead through Ellie Smith only for Bedford’s Joanne Makin to equalise. Rebecca Freeman sending a free-kick into the top corner to restore Evergreen’s lead with her 7th goal of the season and ultimately the winning goal for Evergreen.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

Three matches in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three at the weekend with away wins for the top two seeing them extend their lead at the top of the table. Leaders AFC Dunstable Ladies were taking on bottom side Bedwell Rangers Women. The visitors holding a narrow lead at half-time Bianca Vassell’s 26th goal of the season in the 19th minute the difference between the two sides. Bedwell Rangers coming right back into it in the 66th minute as Rachel Young struck to make it 1-1. Closing in on the final 15 minutes and Dunstable edged themselves back into the lead Kerry Mulvihill-Reed making it 2-1, the 3 points secured deep into injury time with Lakeisha Fazilahmed making it 3-1 in the 95th minute.

  An equally close score for 2nd placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses as they clinched the 3 points away to Langford Ladies on Sunday. 2nd versus 3rd Giselle Randall’s 14th goal of the season the difference between the sides Woburn & Wavendon winning 1-0.

   In the other game played in Division Three on Sunday 5th placed Biggleswade United Ladies secured the 3 points with a 2-0 win at home to Stotfold Juniors Ladies.

Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup

The semi-final line-up for this season’s Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup has been decided with the last of the quarter finals taking place this Sunday. Cup holders St Albans Ladies were at home taking on Houghton Athletic Ladies. St Albans booking there spot in the last 4 with a 4-1 win. Eleanor Lovelock and a 25 yard screamer from Kerry Twigg. Sophie Hull scoring in her first start for the club with Lovelock wrapping up the goals in the 65th minute.

St Albans Ladies will now face Division Three side AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies in the semi-finals with Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies taking on Division Two side Hitchin Belles in the other date to be arranged.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Speaking of Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies, they are the new leaders in Beds & Herts Division One move onto the top of the league with a home win against bottom side Garston Ladies 1st team this Sunday. Captain Steph Cripps scoring her 1st goal of the season for Hemel Hempstead, Bianca Hedgecock also finding the back of the net along with top scorer Natasha McConville who has 17 now for the season. Hemel Hempstead winning 3-1, Emma Trill with the goal for Garston.

Bad news to for Garston Ladies 2nd XI in Division One as they were beaten away from home by Northwood Ladies who themselves move up the league table into 2nd position. Emma Steele, Zamina Rahemtulla, Scarlett Keightley, Leanne Jones and Lisa-Marie Carty with her 1st goal of the season scoring for Northwood in a 5-1 win. Ruby Jager scoring for Garston.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A full programme of fixtures in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday with all 10 sides in action. Leaders Hitchin Town Ladies were at home their opponents Bedford Ladies Development. A tough contest Bedford keeping Hitchin out to see the sides drawing 0-0 at the break, that how it remained heading into the last 20 minutes of the match when finally Hitchin broke Bedford’s resistance to open the scoring Georgina Winters scoring from a corner. Minutes later Hitchin were awarded a penalty as Louse Gash was brought down inside the box captain Emma Chaffey scoring from the spot kick. Chaffey making the scoreline more secure scored again in the 80th minute burying a 20 yard free-kick to see Hitchin run out 3-0 winners.

Local rivals Hitchin Belles are also enjoying a good season into the last 4 of the League Cup and 2nd in the Division Two table 6 points behind Hitchin Town with 2 games in hand. Were away from home this Sunday playing Evergreen Eagles. Charlotte Peters moving onto 10 goals for the season with a goal, moving ahead of her as Hitchin Belles new top scorer is Katie White who completed a hat-trick to take her onto 11 goals for the season as Hitchin Belles ran out 4-1 winners, Christie Brewer scoring for Evergreen Eagles.

Royston Town Ladies Development came back from a goal down at home to win 3-1 on Sunday in Division Two keeping them in 3rd spot 2 points behind Hitchin Belles. Watton Ladies the opposition the visitors going in front with Courtney Smart scoring her Watton goal. Royston coming back to level and go on to win with Abby Laughlin netting a brace, and Olivia Sole with the other goal to clinch the 3 points.

Letchworth Garden City Eagles in 4th position move onto 18 points with 3 games in hand on the leaders themselves clinched a narrow win at home on Sunday in Division Two over bottom side Welwyn Pegasus Azures, won the game by 3 goals to 2 to claim the 3 points. Anna Bright and Senal Chapman scoring the 2nd half goals for Welwyn.

Lastly in Division Two it ended in a stalemate between Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies and Evergreen Ladies the score 0-0 in Sunday.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

0-0’s are rare in women’s football so to report on two in one Round-Up is of note but that’s how it ended between 3rd placed Langford Ladies and 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies this Sunday in Division Three. A result that benefited and placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses and leaders AFC Dunstable Ladies Reserves respectfully. Langford the happier of the two the point ending a run of 3 straight defeats.

One other match to bring you in Beds & Herts Division Three, Kempston Rovers Ladies were at home to Bedwell Rangers Ladies on Sunday. Chelsea Rose Jeffery moving into the top scorers position for Kempston Rovers scoring a brace with Hannah Meadwell scoring her 1st goal for the home side in a 3-1 victory. Jessica Sullivan scoring for Bedwell.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

A busy start to 2019 across the Beds & Herts Women’s Football leagues, however this edition of The Round-Up begins with the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup. Two of the 4 quarter final ties postponed back in December due to the inclement weather scheduled for this Sunday, big tests for Beds & Herts Division One sides, Houghton Athletic Ladies and Sharnbrook WFC as they were drawn against higher league opposition.

Houghton Athletic were away to ERWFL Premier Division side Bedford Ladies, the current holders of the County Cup. Two leagues apart Bedford were beginning the defence of their trophy and proved too strong an opponent winning comfortably in the finish. Michelle Byrne scoring twice for Bedford with a further 5 players all getting a goal each, Paige Abraham, Carissa Kaczorowski, Setor Acolatse, Amy Magnus and Lauren Murray in a 7-0 win.

Sharnbrook WFC were at home in the quarter final of the County Cup taking on FAWNL South East Division One side, Luton Town Ladies, keen to get the County Cup back after losing out to Bedford in last season’s final. Bottom of South East Division One the County Cup a welcome distraction for Luton and hopefully a spring board to improved results in the new year. Plenty of youngsters in the Luton squad and it was one of them that opened the scoring in the 11th minute with Aurora Ryan making it 1-0. The visitors pressing the play Sharnbrook defending held them at bay before Ryan found the back of the net for her 2nd of the game in the 33rd minute, Dionne Manning adding a 3rd goal for Luton 5 minutes from the end of the 1st half.

Luton were in control Olivia Abraham scoring her 1st goal for the side to make it 4-0, captain Zara Carroll making it 5-0 just past the hour scoring from a free-kick. Another debut goal following with Maddison Goodenough celebrating her 1st Luton goal 2 minutes later. Rachel Kosky scoring a 7th for Luton with 15 minutes left time for 2 more with Remi Bains getting her name on the scoresheet a screamer from Jess McKay wrapping up a 9-0 win.

The semi-finals of the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup take place on Sunday 20th January and are as follows:-

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

2019 begins and all of a sudden it’s beginning to look very tight at the top of Beds & Herts Division One. The league rarely disappoints with title drama and after Sunday’s results there is just 3 points between the top 5 sides.

Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires have gotten the games in where others haven’t and good form saw them move into top position in the league start 2019 top were at home on Sunday up against Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies in 3rd position, a brace from Lizzie Richardson enough to edge the win 2-1 to Hemel Hempstead to climb up into 2nd spot and close the gap on Welwyn to just a point with 4 games in hand.

Also closing the gap on the leaders are Northwood Ladies starting the year with an away win against bottom side Garston Ladies 1st team. A trio of goal scores with Zamina Rehemtulla, Emma Steele and Danielle Tyler all finding the back of the opponents net in a 3-0 victory. Northwood in 4th now 3 points behind the leaders and like Hemel Hempstead have games in hand.

So too do defending champions St Albans Ladies, 3 goals in the last 10 minutes securing the 3 points at home to Sherrardswood Ladies. Nicola Dark with the early goal for St Albans putting them 1 nil up in the 8th minute it wasn’t until the hour that St Albans scored again dark netting her 2nd of the match. The result made comfortable late on with the game entering the final 10 minutes Ellen Slater getting the goal to make it 3-0. 3 minute from time and Eleanor Lovelock struck to make it 4-0 with Michaela Johnson scoring the home sides 5th goal in stoppage time. St Albans in 5th have 13 points like Northwood and yes you guessed it games in hand on the leader.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

In Beds & Herts Division Two it was a great start to the season for Hitchin Town Ladies as they end 2018 with a 9 point lead at the top of the table. Have played more games than those hoping to chase them down, their main challenger being fellow Hitchin side, Hitchin Belles in 2nd spot 9 points a huge gap Hitchin Belles have 3 games in hand. The title race in Beds & Herts Division Three was hotting up well before the New Year with Langford Ladies setting the early pace, the new side chased by fellow newcomers AFC Kempston Town Ladies & Bedford College Ladies and AFC Dunstable Ladies Development the latter still undefeated charging into top spot whilst a newly merged Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses side see Bedfordshire sides dominating.

AFC Dunstable Ladies Development have a striker in their ranks in red hot form, Bianca Vassell with 20 goals from 10 appearances going into this Sundays game away to Buntingford Town Ladies. Is now 25 goals from 11 s she hit 5 more at the weekend. Shanice Sanderson making her debut for Dunstable celebrated the occasion with a goal with Lakeisha Fazilahmed also getting a goal in a 7-0 victory.

Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses keep the pressure on Dunstable in 2nd spot remain just a point behind as they edged the victory away to Biggleswade United Ladies this Sunday. A hat-trick from Giselle Randall for the visitors enough to cancel out strikes from Sarah King and Leeanne Davison to win the 3 points for Woburn & Wavendon. 10 goals in her last 4 league games now for Randell including 3 successive hat-tricks.

Cup weekend in the Beds & Herts with the quarter finals of the League Cup and 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup taking place, plus a scattering of league matches too.

  The League Cup saw 3 of the 4 quarter final ties played this Sunday, holders St Albans Ladies home tie with Houghton Athletic Ladies no scheduled until the New Year. Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires leading Beds & Herts Division One were drawn away in the quarter finals to play Division Three high flyers, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies, the lower league side causing an upset knocking Welwyn out of the Cup with a 2-1 victory, Emily Devereux on the score sheet for Kempston, Janiece Allen with the Welwyn goal.

  Hemel Hempstead Town ladies 2nd in Division One were away to last season’s finalists, Northwood Ladies. Hemel Hempstead in a great vein of form winning 6 in all competitions prior to this weekends League Cup quarter final extended the run to 7 to reach the last 4. Charlene Turturici-Clarke and Leah Haley scoring in a 2-0 win.

   In the other League Cup quarter final it was an all Division Two tie with Hitchin Belles at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles on Sunday. The pair meeting for the 2nd successive Sunday, last time out in the league Hitchin Belles winning 4-1 away from home ending Letchworth’s winning streak of 5 matches. Hitchin Belles also ending Letchworth’s involvement in the League Cup this weekend as they won comfortably to book their place in the semi-finals. Although it’s listed as 6-0, Hitchin state on twitter it was 5, and seeings as I can only account for 5 goals I’ll go with that. Emma Wells scoring twice, their was a goal each for Bonnita Woodward, Keira How and top scorer Amy Jack who moves into double figures for the season.

One league match taking place in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One on Sunday between two sides looking for more points at the bottom of the table, Garston Ladies 2nd XI hosting Sherrardswood Ladies. A goal in each half from Laurie Marris securing a 2nd win of the season for Sherrardswood as they edged the win 2-1. Maddie Gordon on target with the goal for Garston.

Likewise their was just the single league fixture taking place in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday with Royston Town Ladies Development in 3rd position at home to bottom side Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Kierra Gabriel scoring a hat-trick in the game moves onto 8 for the season. Abby Laughlin and Jazmin Racher also getting a goal a piece along with Ellie Pickard getting a goal in her first game for Royston. The winning margin 6-1 as Royston move to within a point of 2nd placed Letchworth.

There was the one league game played also in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three on Sunday a top of the table clash with league leaders Langford Ladies away to 4th placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses. Two successive defeats of Langford going into the game both against sides pushing for top spot in Division Three themselves, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies beating them in the County Cup was followed by defeat in the league away to AFC Dunstable Ladies last Sunday. Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses another side starting the season well one defeat from 5 played were leading 2-0 at half-time, Langford getting one back in the 2nd half through Chloe Scott. Woburn & Wavendon adding two more goals themselves to win the game 4-1 and climb into 3rd spot a point off Dunstable, and to within 3 points of Langford at the top, both having 3 games in hand with Kempston in 4th now 6 points off the top with 4 games in hand. Giselle Randall and Victoria Harrold both scoring two each for Woburn & Wavendon.

This season’s Chris Renshaw Cup competition began this Sunday with 3 1st Round ties taking place. AFC Dunstable Ladies Development 2nd in Division Three in great form unbeaten in the league were away to Division Two side, Bedford Ladies Development. Bianca Vassell way out in front in the goal scoring charts for Dunstable adding two more to her tally on Sunday has 18 to her name now. Courtney McNamara and Lauren Brooker both getting a goal each in a 4-0 win for Dunstable.

   Division Three newcomers Kempston Rovers Ladies were hosting Watton Ladies from Division Two in the 1st Round of The Chris Renshaw Cup this Sunday. The lower league side getting themselves into a 2-0 lead with Chelsea Rose Jeffery and Sabrina Stramaglia on the score sheet. Watton rallied to come back into the game and go on to win it 3-2 to progress, Gemma Bickell, Zoe Hammick and Sian Owens getting the goals for Watton.

   An all Division Three tie The Chris Renshaw Cup saw Buntingford Town Ladies hosting Bedwell Rangers Ladies in the 1st Round both at the wrong end of the table, Jessica Sullivan scoring a hat-trick for Bedwell before sadly suffering a serious injury. Hoping for the best and certainly wish her well for a speedy recovery. The goals helping Bedwell on to victory with Maisie Main and Georgia Miller also scoring a goal a piece in a 5-2 win to see Bedwell advance.

A busy Sunday off league action across the Beds & Herts Women’s Leagues 3 Division’s. A extra-time winner away to Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies in the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup last Sunday saw Division One leaders, Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires unbeaten run of 6 games come to an end. Were back in league action this Sunday away to Sharnbrook WFC. Welwyn suffering just their 2nd league loss of the season as they were narrowly beaten 1-0. Other results going Sharnbrook’s way they climb to 4th in the Division One table are just 3 points behind Welwyn now with a game in hand.

   Moving into 2nd position in the Division One table Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies were at home to defending Champions, St Albans Ladies this Sunday, a good result as they ended St Albans unbeaten league record stretching back to February 2017. 4 straight wins for Hemel Hempstead in the league ran out 5-1 winners with 5 different players on the score sheet, Bianca Hedgecock, Louise McCay, Lizzie Richardson, Charlene Turturici-Clark and top scorer Natasha McConville. Moves them to within a point of leaders Welwyn.

   Houghton Athletic Ladies finally brought to an end a run of bad results that saw them suffer 4 losses after a promising 3 game winning streak at the beginning of the season. Tasted victory again at home on Sunday against Garston Ladies 1st team. Ciara Craig firing a brace into the back of the net with Emily Wilson moving onto 10 for the season also scoring in a 3-0 win that as with Hemel Hempstead has them on 12 points.

   A big win in Division One too on Sunday in Division One for Northwood Ladies away to Garston Ladies 2nd XI. Up to 5th in the table now, Emma Steele doubling her goals tally for the season as she found the goal for 4. Scarlett Keightley and Leanne Jones both getting a goal each whilst both Samantha May and Holly Gilder were celebrating their first goals of the season in a comfortable 8-0 win.

A 3rd successive win in the league sees Hitchin Town Ladies open up a 4 point lead at the top of Division Two this Sunday. An away trip to play Bedford Ladies Development, Hannah Ridley scoring for the hosts in the 10th minute. Hitchin Town getting 2 up the other end to win the game Lucy Huffer with her first goal of the season and captain Emma Chaffey on target with her 6th winning the 3 points.

   A run of 5 straight league wins saw Letchworth Garden City Eagles climb to 2nd spot in Division Two taking them to within a point of Hitchin Town at the top. That run was brought to an end on Sunday after they were beaten at home by Hitchin Belles. Amy Jack moving onto 9 goals for the season scoring twice for Hitchin. Charlotte Peters one behind on 8 also getting a goal with Keira How sending the ball home too in a 4-1 win that leaves Hitchin Belles on 10 points in 5th after 5 games played.

   Big wins in the league too on Sunday in Division Two for the 3rd and 4th placed sides. 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development away to Watton Ladies. Keira Gabriel claiming a hat-trick. Hannah Tofts getting a brace her first 2 goals of the campaign. So to Nicole Cooper with her first goal, Olivia Sole and Abby Laughlin also on target in an 8-1 win.

  8 goals to for Evergreen Ladies 4th in Division Two as they enjoyed a good home win against Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies on Sunday. There were first goals of the season for, Lisa Nolan and Hollie Holden whilst Leane Pickett scored a brace to open her account. Rebecca Freeman also scoring twice, Ellie Smith and Natalie Maher with Evergreen’s other goals.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

 AFC Dunstable Ladies great form at the start of the season continues as the newcomers to Division Three beat the league leaders Langford Ladies at home this Sunday, 5  league wins and a draw now as Dunstable close the gap on Langford to 2 points. Goals from Courtney McNamara plus a 16th of the season for Bianca Vassell see Langford lose for the 2nd time this season ending there 6 game winning run after losing on the opening day… against Dunstable.

 A draw last time out in the league saw AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies drop points for the first time since joining Division Three. Back to winning ways this Sunday at home as they took on Buntingford Town Ladies. Bex Cray scoring a brace moves into double figures for the season. Zara Garrard and Taylor Kingston also getting a goal a piece in a 4-0 victory for the 3rd placed side.

  A hat-trick for Giselle Randell helped to secure the 3 points for 4th placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses on Sunday as they hosted Stotfold Juniors Ladies in Division Three, Zoe Griffiths also getting a goal as they ran out 4-2 winners, a yet to keep a clean sheet this season with Chloe Everton and Becky Lund scoring for Stotfold.

   A good start to the season for Biggleswade United Ladies they were the early pacesetters winning their opening two matches since then they have lost 3 in a row to drop down the table. One of those wins at home to Bedwell Rangers Ladies were taking them on again this Sunday away from home, a good result scoring 6 without reply seeing Biggleswade return to winning ways moving back up to 5th in the table.

New signing Jessica McNamara scoring twice has 10 goals now from 5 appearances in the league and cup. Ellen Slater also scoring a goal has 6 now as St Albans won the game 3-1. Letchworth Garden City Eagles match at home to Evergreen Eagles the sole survivor, 2nd placed Letchworth consolidating their league position with a 4-0 win top scorer Tayla Murray scoring a brace. Katie Smith also getting a goal with Lottie Cartwright scoring her 1st goal for Letchworth as they close the gap to Hitchin Town Ladies at the top to 4 points with 2 games in hand.

Celebrating their 1st ever league win last time out Kempston Rovers the visiting side earned themselves a point with goals from Chelsea Rose-Jeffery and Megan Dimmock in a 2-2 draw. Katie Hay scoring both of the goals for AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies who remain 2nd on 10 points, have 3 games in hand on the leaders, Langford.

Opening the season a draw the newcomers have now won 3 in a row as they cruised to victory at home to Buntingford Town Ladies on Sunday. League Cup weekend in the Beds & Herts Women’s league, 8 ties in the 2nd Round of the competition six played this Sunday. Northwood Ladies v Royston Town Ladies Development scheduled for this coming Sunday. Houghton Athletic Ladies through to the quarter finals awarded the home win against Welwyn Pegasus Azures.

   Holders St Albans Ladies progress comfortably through to the last 8 with a home win against Division Three side, Biggleswade United Ladies on Sunday. Michaela Johnson scoring the opening goal for St Albans on 17 minutes. Two quick fire goals from Jessica McNamara and Ellen Slater midway through the 1st half putting St Albans 3-0 up, McNamara scoring again late in the 1st half to see the hosting 4-0 to the good. Eleanor Lovelock striking early in the 2nd half for St Albans 5th goal. McNamara went on to compete her hat-trick before scoring a 4th 15 minutes from time. Johnson getting her 2nd of the game with the clock moving into the last 10 minutes. Slater two claiming a brace as she completed a 9-0 scoreline with 3 minutes left to play.

   The leaders of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One were away in the 2nd Round of the League Cup taking on the leaders of Division Three, Langford Ladies. A narrow win seeing the higher league side progress, goals from Katherine Calvert and Janiece Allen securing a 2-1 win for the Sapphires, Chloe Scott scoring for Langford.

   A strong 2nd half performance saw Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies advance to the last 8 of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup as they overcame fellow Division One side Sharnbrook WFC at home in the 2nd Round. Natasha McConville scoring in the 10th minute for Hemel Hempstead went on score twice more in the last 15 minutes to seal a hat-trick. Charlotte Ross scoring for the 1st time this season in the 67th minute, the 5th Hemel Hempstead goal coming in the final minute Bianca Hedgecock also getting her 1st goal of the season. 5-1 the final score, Jackie Dodds on the scoresheet for Sharnbrook.

   Division Two side, Letchworth Garden City Ladies were at home in the 2nd Round of the League Cup taking on Division One opponents, Sherrardswood Ladies, the tie going all the way having to be decided on penalties. Laurie Marris with the early goal to put Sherrardswood into the lead, Katy Jones adding a 2nd goal for the visitors in the 65th minute. Letchworth getting 2 goals themselves through Emily Jamieson and Tayla Murray taking the tie into extra-time. The back of the net remaining intact in the extra half-hour the game to be settled on penalty kicks, Letchworth advancing to the last 8 of the competition with a 5-4 win.

  Hitchin Belles are also through to the last 8 of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup with a home win against fellow Division Two side Bedford Ladies Development in the 2nd Round this Sunday. Amy Jack scoring twice to move onto 7 goals for the season, also on 7 goals for the season is Charlotte Peters as she scored against Bedford. Whilst Emma Wells and Chloe Keller were both on target with their 1st goals of the season. Hitchin Belles winning 5-1.

   One all Division Three tie in the 2nd Round of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup with AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies away to Bedwell Rangers Ladies. A 100% start to the league the visitors kept that record in the cup, 3 players netting a brace with Chloe Urbanowicz, Zara Garrard and Katie Hay all getting 2, a brace of own goals too unfortunately for Bedwell as they were defeated 8-2, Rachael Jones and Leah Tomlin with their goals.

Janiece Allen making her first start for the Sapphires celebrating a hat-trick. Ellen Slater scoring for St Albans in the final 3 minutes to see the game end all square a point each, 3-3 the final score.

One outstanding tie from the 1st Round of the Beds & Herts Women’s Cup the much delayed fixtures between Division One sides, Garston Ladies 2nd XI and Northwood Ladies. Two goals in 5 minutes past the half hour for Emma Steele. The visitors going on to take control of the tie in the 2nd half with two more quick goals on the hour from Scarlett Keightley and Danielle Aken. Hitchin Town Ladies move 4 points clear at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two. The league leaders at home playing Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Hitchin Town taking the lead inside 15 minutes with Louise Gash on target to score. Two goals from Kirsty Smith past the half hour seeing Hitchin go 3-0 in front, Welwyn Pegasus Azures responding well pulling it back to 3-1 straight away reduced the deficit to a single goal scoring from a corner in 1st half stoppage time. Hitchin Town defending their 3-2 lead going into the final 15 minutes, Gash held inside the box the hosts awarded a penalty, captain Emma Chaffey putting it away. Gash getting her 2nd of the game in the closing minutes to see Hitchin Town win 5-2.

   A 3rd win of the season sees Letchworth Garden City Eagles climbing the Division Two table up into 2nd spot after Sunday’s results. At home were playing Watton Ladies. Alyce Williams scoring a hat-trick. Emily Jamieson and Tayla Murray both scoring a goal, whilst there were 1st goals of the season for Alex Bush and Amy Atsma. Letchworth winning the game 7-1.

   A mid-table clash saw Evergreen Ladies hosting Bedford Ladies Development on Sunday in Division Two. Rebecca Freeman with her 6th goal of the season putting Evergreen into the lead.
