Two game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday both involving the top two and seeing 8 goals scored. Leaders ICA Sports Ladies were at home to bottom side Riverside Ladies at the weekend a convincing win against their Peterborough rivals seeing them open up a 6 point lead at the top of the table. Jessica Farchina and Donna Nicholls both scoring twice in the game, their were goals to for Kylie Armstrong, Zoe Leddy and Megan Purnell in a 7-1 victory. Annie Posnett from the penalty spot scoring the goal for Riverside.
2nd placed Cambridge City Ladies Development were playing their 1st game in over a month this Sunday a morning trip across the city to play Cambridge University Women. 4 wins from 4 to start the season for Cambridge City. Cambridge University with just the one defeat themselves had only played 3 league games themselves, the sides all square at 2-2 come the half-time whistle. Cambridge City going on to score once more in the 2nd half. Tasted defeat for the 1st time this season however as Cambridge University found the back of their opponents net for 3 further goals to win the game 5-3. Ellie Cullum, Anna Kanz and Megan Tonks scoring for Cambridge City. Amanda Wainwright, Ollie Linnea Gradin, Lidiya Mykhaylechko, Maria Pykala and Beatrice Wood getting the goals for Cambridge University. Now 6 and 9 points behind ICA Sports both have games in hand City 3 and University 4.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
Two games also in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North this Sunday. Leaders Ketton Ladies at home taking on bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies, ran out comfortable winners maintaining their 100% winning start to the season 5 games now, the winning margin 7-0. Move 3 points clear at the top with 2nd placed Wisbech Town Ladies also having a 100% record.
Cardea Ladies were hosting Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday in the league, a high scoring draw between the sides saw them take a point each from the game, Danielle King getting a goal along with a brace for captain Laura Rudd the scorers for Cardea. Kelsey McKenna netting a hat-trick for Hungate Rovers to secure a point.
Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup
Three group matches from the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup also taking place this weekend. In Group B, Championship South side Park Ladies were hosting Championship North side Wisbech St Mary Ladies on Sunday. The two meeting in the Invitation Cup back at the end of October finishing 2-2 the game won by Park on penalties. Once again the sides were all square at 2-2 at the final whistle but no shootout this time around to decide a winner both earning a point. Wisbech St Mary remain 2nd in the table their goals scored by Megan Radcliffe and Josie Turner.
In Group C their was an upset as Championship South side, Cambridge Rangers beat Premiership opponents Histon Ladies Reserves on Sunday to join Cambridge City Ladies Development on 9 points at the top of the mini-league table. A 2-1 win for Cambridge Rangers have one more game left away to St Ives Development. Histon have played out their league cup fixtures each side playing the other once. The top 2 from the 4 groups progressing to the quarter finals.
Group D containing just 5 sides, each side with 4 to play, Haverhill Rovers Ladies with 3 wins from 3 so far topping the table putting themselves in a strong position to progress to the knock-out stages with one to play at home to Cambridge University Women. This Sunday they were taking on fellow Championship South opposition an away game against Isleham United Ladies. Top scorer Joeli Kirby finding the back of the net for another 4 goals has 19 for the season now. Catherine Upton celebrating her first goals for Haverhill too on Sunday bagged herself a hat-trick. With Kayleigh Steed and Kayleigh Nolan both getting a goal each in a 9-2 victory. Emily Ingle and Laura Todd scoring the goals for Isleham.
ICA Sports Ladies are the new leaders in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership the Peterborough based side active in November playing games have picked up the points to catch and overhaul previous leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development whilst they have had no league action for a month now. ICA Sports with 3 successive wins in that time to move up the table. Were away to Histon Ladies Reserves this Sunday. A brace for Carmen Herridge for ICA Sports takes her onto 7 goals for the season with Bente Hanert also on target with a goal her 3rd after celebrating her 1st two goals for ICA Sports last weekend. The visitors winning 3-1 to go 3 points clear at the top. Cambridge City Ladies Development with 3 games in hand however with a 100% success rate form those 4 matches.
At the other end of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership it was a 10 goal thriller between Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds at home to March Town United Ladies on Sunday. The points had to be shared however as the sides contested an exciting 5-5 draw. Marie Stubbings hitting a brace for Fulbourn, so too did Yasmine Upson with her 1st two goals of the season and a first goal of the season too for Fulbourn’s Sarah Bodger. Louise Balfour doubling her tally for the season for March Town United as she struck the ball into the back of the net 4 times. Emma Searle netting to other goal her 1st of the season.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup
One tie from the 1st Round of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup played this Sunday saw ERWFL Division One side, St Ives Town Ladies hosting Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership side Riverside Ladies. A comfortable win for the higher league side to progress to the quarter finals with both Fran Worrall and Hannah Seymour-Shove scoring a hat-trick a piece their was a goal each to for Jade Carpenter, Emily Smith and Stephanie Ransome in a 9-0 win for St Ives.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
They’ve done it at last a first ever league win for Burwell Tigers Ladies, 3 points on the board. Just the 2 last season in their debut year in women’s football are of the mark winning their 6th game of the season, Burwell were away taking on Isleham United Ladies on Sunday in the only game in the Championship South. Charlotte Forgarty scoring twice for the visitors, their were goals to for Elisa Heinamaa, Megan Seabrook-Mead and Ellie Garrett in a 5-1 victory. Vicky Sievewright scoring for Isleham United. Had to wait a long time for that and I’m pleased to write about a win at long last for Burwell.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup
Three matches played in the 1st Round of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup this Sunday the competition entering it’s 2nd season a knock-out format. Histon Ladies Reserves winning the trophy last season are promoted now so ineligible to compete. It was a good weekend for the top three sides in the Championship North with all progressing in the competition, Ketton Ladies were at home to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Just the one goal scored but it was enough for the Championship North leaders as Ketton advance.
Wisbech Town Ladies also had a home draw in the 1st Round of the Division One Cup taking on Championship South side, Park Ladies. A brace from top scorer Sophie Swinden takes her into double figures for the season. Rachael Simpson and Chelsea King also on target for Wisbech Town with a goal each to see them advance with a 4-0 win.
A comfortable home win too on Sunday in the 1st Round of the Division One Cup for Wisbech St Mary as they met Cambridge Rangers Women who like themselves lay 3rd in the Championship South. Braces for both Eilish Brown and Carlie Knight for Wisbech St Mary Josie Turner and Demi Newman were also both on target with a goal each in a 6-0 win.
Two games played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this weekend and with the league leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development not in action it was an opportunity for 2nd placed ICA Sports Ladies to move level on points with them at the top of the table. This Sunday ICA Sports Ladies were at home taking on Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. Kylie Armstrong scoring twice to take her goals tally to 6 for the season for ICA Sports, there was a brace too for Bente Hanert her first goals for the club in only her 2nd appearance. Donna Nicholls on target too with a goal wrapping up a 5-0 win for ICA Sports joined the leaders on 12 points.
Is tight in the Premiership table below the leading pair, Histon Ladies Reserves winning for the 2nd time this season leaping up to 3rd in the table. At home were taking on Riverside Ladies this Sunday, Daniella Briggs scoring her first goals of the season netting twice for Histon, Sarah Freestone on target too for her first goal of the campaign with Sophie also scoring in a 4-0 win.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
The top two in the Championship North went head to head on Sunday for the 1st time this season, both level on points with a 100% winning start to the season, Ketton Ladies ahead on goal difference hosting Wisbech Town Ladies. Ketton having the better of thing’s were leading the game 4-1 when the game was abandoned quarter of an hour into the 2nd half following a medical emergency to one of the Wisbech Town players. Awaiting a response to see if the result stands or the game will be replayed at a later date. Individual rules for league can vary the norm being 70 minutes. More importantly though is the health of the players and Women’s Football East wishes the player involved all the best for a full and speedy recovery.
Elsewhere in the Championship North 3rd placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies were hosting 4th placed Cardea Ladies. Wisbech St Mary claiming the 3 points in a high scoring game winning 8-3 to move onto 9 points. Josie Turner scoring a hat-trick moves onto 11 goals since joining in the summer. A goal too for Hannah Shales takes her tally to 8. There were 1st goals of the season for 3 players too for Wisbech St Mary with Carlie Knight getting a brace, Eilish Brown and Lauren Laws also celebrating a goal each.
The bottom two in the Championship North were also in action on Sunday with Hungate Rovers Ladies travelling to play Pinchbeck United Ladies. A comfortable win for the visitors in the end as Hungate won for the 1st time this season, 6-0 the winning margin.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
Haverhill Rovers Ladies maintain a 3 point lead at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South with an away victory on Sunday as the top 3 all picked up another 3 points. Haverhill Rovers were up against Isleham United Ladies. Top scorer, Joeli Kirby now has 15 goals for the season as she scored a further 3 goals on Sunday. Kayleigh Nolan, Siobhan White and Elicia Cooper all on target too in a 6-1 win. Nicole Bailey with the Isleham goal.
St Ives Town Ladies Development in 2nd place were at home on Sunday hosting bottom side Burwell Tigers Ladies, A brace from Frances Chapman along with goals from Jade Carpenter, Connie Liddiard and Leah Culpin her 1st for the club securing a 6-1 victory. Elisa Heinamaa scoring for Burwell Tigers.
6 goals to scored for the winning side in the other game from the Championship South with 3rd placed Cambridge Rangers WFC travelling to Wimblington to play Park Ladies, a disappointing afternoon for the hosts as Cambridge Rangers hit them for 6 Vanessa Martinez Ramos scoring twice to open her goals account for the season. Jaclyn Scafide also getting on the scoresheet for the 1st time this season, with Robyn Barlow and Sharne Southgate both getting a goal each moving onto 7 and 8 goals respectfully, an own goal too seeing the visitors win 6-2.
Cambridge City Ladies Development continue their 100% winning start to the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership leading by 3 points with a 4 straight league win. Coming on the road away to March Town United Ladies on Sunday. After contesting a goalless first 45 minutes Cambridge City broke the deadlock with Ellie Cullum scoring the goal to put the visitors 1-0 up, Cullum going on to hit the back of the net with a further 2 goals to complete a hat-trick to see the game won 3-0.

Wisbech Town Ladies and Ketton Ladies are neck and neck at the top of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North both with a 100% winning start to the season. Ketton moving ahead of Wisbech after this Sunday’s results on goal difference as they recorded a big win away to Hungate Rovers Ladies on Sunday (apologies for listing Hungate as Hungary Riverside Ladies in the results tweet this week blame it on the new phone and it’s predictive text which I failed to notice) A double figure win for Ketton as they continued their great start to the season a 12-0 scoreline taking them top of the table.
Wisbech Town Ladies were taking part in their 2nd Wisbech derby of the season at home to Wisbech St Mary on Sunday. Amy Newell scoring the opening goal for Wisbech Town midway through the 1st half. Sophie Swindon doubling the hosts lead with Chloe Stanborough on target for a 3rd goal to see Wisbech Town leading 3-0 at half-time. Stanborough scoring her 2nd of the game to make it 4-0 to Wisbech Town in the 2nd half, Chelsea King getting on the scoresheet making it 5-0. Leonie Goodale getting a goal back for Wisbech St Mary only a consolation as Wisbech Town ran out 5-1 winners.
For the 2nd successive Sunday, Cardea Ladies were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies in the Championship North. A 5-2 win for Cardea last time out securing their 1st ever win since being formed. Rebecca Navarrete with her 1st goal of the season fro Pinchbeck putting them into the lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Cardea levelling the scores just before the half hour Kelly Hook with her 1st goal for Cardea, a superb strike from outside the box flying in over the keeper to make it 1-1. Captain, Laura Rudd having scored 4 goals for Cardea last time out scoring what would prove to be the winning goal on 35 minutes to see Cardea claim a 2nd successive win.

One game in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South this Sunday between the bottom two both without a point going into the game Burwell Tigers Ladies at home to Park Ladies. A high scoring contest with the sides getting 10 goals between them. A brace for Vicky Murrell along with goals for Hannah Dewey and the 1st of the season for Xantha Miller seeing the hosts scoring 4, a trio of braces winning the game for Park, Francesca Plitsch, Jenna Brown and Sherrie Martin all on target for their 1st goals of the season winning the game 6-4.
3 wins from 3 now as Cambridge City Ladies Development continue their excellent start to the season to lead the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Away this Sunday were taking on ICA Sports Ladies. Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds are off the mark at last in the Premiership clocking up their 1st league win at this level since winning promotion last term. At home were playing last season’s Championship North Champions, Riverside Ladies. Last season’s top scorer, Sophie Swinden leading the goal scoring charts for Wisbech Town already this time around scoring a brace on Sunday to move her onto 6 goals from 3 appearances. Earned their first 3 point haul at the weekend under their new name in only their 2nd league game together bouncing back from a 6-0 defeat at home to Ketton Ladies to win 5-2 away from home against Pinchbeck United Ladies this Sunday. Their captain Laura Rudd scoring 4 goals with Jessica O’Sullivan also getting a goal. Chloe Gray and Anete Murniece on the scoresheet for Pinchbeck.

Haverhill Rovers Ladies strong start to the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South continued this Sunday as the newly formed side made it 4 wins from 4 in the league at the start of the campaign. Were away on Sunday playing Burwell Tigers Ladies whom they beat 5-0 in the League Cup 3 weeks ago. An even bigger result this time around, Pavlina Beasley, Hayley Turner and Joeli Kirby all getting two goals a piece, Abbi Griffin and Emma Barnes also getting a goal as did Amy Evans and Kayleigh Steed, their 1st goals for Haverhill. A six point lead already at the top of the Championship South.
St Ives Town Ladies Development are 2nd in the Championship South table their 2nd win of the season coming away from home this Sunday. Were taking on Park Ladies the 3 points coming courtesy of a 5-1 win.
For the 2nd game in a row Isleham United Ladies were involved in a 6-4 result. It was victory the first time around against Burwell Tigers. Not the case this time however as it was visitors Cambridge Ranger Women who emerged as the winners during the 10 goal encounter. Melanie Findlater and Emily Ingle both scoring a brace for Isleham United. Erika Balskute making her 1st start for Cambridge Rangers netting a hat-trick. Sharne Southgate moving onto 6 goals for the season also adding two goals to the total with Robyn Barlow also in the scoresheet Cambridge Rangers in 3rd position winning their 2nd league game of the season.
The Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership sees a 3 way lead at the top of the table after this weekends results with Netherton United Ladies joining leaders Cambridge City Ladies Development and 3rd placed ICA Sports Ladies on 6 points. Ketton Ladies winning away to Cardea Ladies on Sunday to start their season with 2 wins in the league. Fran Kavanagh striking for 4 goals in the game, Lauren McKeever and Claire Lawrenson also getting a goal each in a comfortable 6-0 win.

Haverhill Rovers Ladies win for a 3rd successive league match to climb 6 points clear in the Championship South, starting with a 100% record 4 wins in total were on the road at the weekend away to Cambridge Rangers Women. Abbi Griffin scoring a hat-trick with goals too for Joeli Kirby and Kayleigh Nolan in a 5-0 victory.

Cambridge City Ladies Development were playing in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup this Sunday. A new group format this season, in Group C were away taking on Histon Ladies Reserves who they beat 6-0 away from home on the opening day. Cambridge City with a repeat scoreline netting 6 goals again, Megan Tonks scoring 5 of them, Ellie Cullum too finding the back of the net. Histon Ladies Reserves did get on the scoresheet themselves this time however with Philippa Hayden-Evans scoring a consolation goal.
Plenty of goals scored too in the other League Cup group match played on Sunday. In Group D, Isleham United Ladies travelled to play fellow Championship South side, Burwell Tigers Ladies. The hosts scoring 4 goals, Charlotte Fogarty with a brace along with a goal a piece fir Elisa Heinamaa and Hannah Dewey. Isleham United though hit there opponents for 6 goals up the other end to win all 3 points, Laura Todd and Louisa Harwood both netting a brace, the other goalscorers, Rachael Turner and Melanie Findlater.
Two wins out of two to start the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership season for Cambridge City Ladies Development followed up last weekends opening day win over Histon Ladies Reserves with another away victory over another of the newly promoted sides, Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. 6-0 in their 1st game it was a much closer affair this time around. A good start for Cambridge City Emily Reed firing the visitors into the lead after 2 minutes. Lucy Hurst striking from 25 yards to make it 2-0 in the 11th minute. Were 3-0 to the good just 2 minutes later with Megan Tonks getting the goal. Katie Luddy pulling it back to 3-1 for Fulbourn midway through the 2nd half. Cambridge City scoring again late in the first half to have a 4-1 advantage Tonks getting her 2nd of the game. Fulbourn far from out of it threatened a comeback 2nd half Marie Stubbings and Kirsty Geal pulling it back to 4-3. Cambridge City held out to claim the 3 points. Two games two 4-3 losses for Fulbourn.
Also beginning the Premiership season with two wins out of two are ICA Sports Ladies. 2-0 at Riverside Ladies on the opening day were at home this Sunday taking on March Town United Ladies playing their 1st competitive match of the season. Several new players lining up for March United. Elle Nutter scoring their 1st goal of the season, it was ICA Sports who had their noses in front at the break with Donna Nicholls scoring twice. Nicholls completing her hat-trick in the 2nd half t seal a 3-1 victory.

A heavy defeat for Histon Ladies Reserves on the opening day of the season were at home again this Sunday taking on Netherton United Ladies who started the season with a 4-3 win over Fulbourn. Just a single goal settling this game and it went the way of the hosts as Histon Ladies Reserves got their 1st 3 points on the board.

One game played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North on Sunday the Wisbech derby with Wisbech St Mary hosting Wisbech Town. Both sides recording big wins on the opening day of the season. It was once again a high scoring game ending up with an emphatic win for the visitors, Wisbech Town netting 7 times against their rivals, new signings Amy Newell and Aisling Ryan netting on their debuts. There were goals too for Sophie Swindon, Chloe Stanborough, Emma Woods, Kaylie Swindon and captain Faye Kowalewsky. The final score 7-1 Megan Radcliffe with the consolation goal for Wisbech St Mary.

A good start to the season in the Championship South for new side Haverhill Rovers Ladies, winning 5-2 on the opening day away to St Ives Town Ladies Development recorded a 2nd successive win at home for the 1st time this season taking on Burwell Tigers Ladies. Joeli Kirby scoring a hat-trick for Haverhill Rovers with Abbi Griffin and Emma Barnes both scoring their 1st goals for the club in a 5-0 win.
St Ives Town Ladies Development bounced back from an opening day loss to win their 1st game of the season away to Isleham United Ladies on Sunday. The hosts starting with a 6-1 win themselves over Park Ladies scored twice in the game, a brace from Lauren Gibson along with a goal each for Fran Worrall, Connie Liddiard and Jade Carpenter securing a 5-2 win for St Ives.
The county league kicked off this Sunday in Cambridgeshire with their once again being a top tier the Premiership with 2 division one leagues the Championship North & South. 8 teams in the Premiership with 3 sides promoted. 7 sides in the Championship South with Haverhill Rovers Ladies re-establishing a women’s team a new addition with Netherton United Ladies at last setting up a Reserves side. Cardea Ladies the new side in the Championship North which is down to just 6 sides after two late withdrawals which sadly include Spalding United Ladies.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership
3 games to start the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership. Cambridge City Ladies Development the early leaders with a big win away to Championship South Champions, Histon Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Cambridge City’s young development side having gained vital experience playing at this level will be stronger this season and started well. Yasmin Crow getting her season off to a flying with a hat-trick on the opening day. Megan Tonks also claimed a brace with Anna Kanz also hitting the back of the net with a goal in a 6-0 victory.
Also winning away from home on the opening day of the season in the Premiership are, double cup winners ICA Sports Ladies. Playing in a Peterborough derby again Championship North Champions Riverside Ladies, ICA Sports claimed the 3 points with a 2-0 win the goals scored by Megan Purnell and Donna Nicholls
A 7 goal thriller elsewhere in the Premiership with the last of the 3 promoted sides Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds also losing out on the opening day, away to Netherton United Ladies who were giving debuts to 5 players. Fulbourn opened the scoring at The Grange. Netherton came back to level Emily Johnson with the goal. Yasmin Green finding the back of the net struck to give the hosts the lead but they were to be pegged back to 2-2 at half-time with Fulbourn scoring in the 44th minute. Into the 2nd half and a penalty to Netherton a chance to restore the lead Green converting the spot kick for her 2nd goal of the game 3-2 were pushed all the way by Fulbourn who were looking for the another equaliser a 4th goal needed Claire Gallagher shooting to make it 4-2 in the last five minutes but there was no relaxing at the death as Fulbourn pulled it back to 4-3 Netherton holding on for the 3 points. Katie Luddy, Marie Stubbings and Krissie Taylor all scoring on the opening day for Fulbourn.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
A good opening Sunday to the Championship North for the two Wisbech clubs as they both record big wins on home soil to start their seasons. Wisbech Town Ladies beginning with a home game against Pinchbeck United Ladies who have strengthened over the close season as they begin their second season. A tough start for the visitors however as they were blown away by Wisbech Town, Sophie Swindon top scorers last season hitting the ground running this campaign with an opening day hat-trick. A brace each for Chloe Stanborough and new captain, Faye Kowalewsky with Emma Woods and Kaylie Swinden both grabbing a goal each in a 9-0 victory.
Top of the table by two goals rivals Wisbech St Mary also start the season with a comfortable home win taking on Hungate Rovers Ladies. Josie Turner moving to St Mary having been with town last season netting an opening day hat-trick, Hannah Shales on target for a brace with Eilish Brown also scoring and own goal too setting up a good result at the beginning of the season 7-0.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
3 games to start the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership, Isleham United Ladies ending Sunday top of the pile with an away against Park Ladies who drop down from the Premiership after a couple of difficult seasons. Isleham starting well recording a 6-1 win to earn the 3 points.
New to the league are Haverhill Rovers Ladies, returning to women’s football, a 1st team competing in Cambridgeshire have made some notable signings catching the imagination making them favourites for the title. Still regardless of potential these thing’s have to be earned and beginning their season away to St Ives Ladies Development who themselves are beginning just their 2nd season in women’s football got the 3 points on the opening day coming home with a 5-2 win. Hayley Turner scoring a brace, Paulina Beasley, Joeli Kirby and Siobhan White all adding a goal each for Haverhill. Ellen and Frances Chapman both scoring for St Ives Development.
A trio of away victories in the Championship South on the opening day with Cambridge Rangers Women getting a good result on the road up against Burwell Tigers Ladies on Sunday. Getting the 3 points in a 4-0 win.
All over in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership the final matches played this weekend. St Ives Town Ladies already crowned Champion’s finishing their season in midweek with a home win against runners-up Newmarket Town Ladies. 3-0 the final score a brace from Katie Stancombe along with a goal from Amy Seymour-Shove securing the result.
Newmarket back in action on Sunday away to 3rd placed Netherton United Ladies the two sides playing for the last time this season. A winning end to the season for Newmarket Town Ladies, Laura Bailey netting twice along with a goal each for Abbi Griffin and Antonia Smith in a 4-1 win.
A double header to end the season between March Town United Ladies at home to Cambridge City Ladies Development, 4th versus 5th could have swapped places if results had gone March’s way, instead it was Cambridge City who made 4th their own winning both games 2-0. Bella Simmons and Megan Tonks on target with a goal apiece in the 1st game. Tonks got both of the Cambridge City goals in the 2nd game. A 5th placed finish for March in their 1st season in the Premiership.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
Almost over too in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North as Riverside Ladies move into top position level on points with Ketton Ladies with 2 left to play. The late entrants to the league dominating losing just the one league game won 7-1 at home to Wisbech Town Ladies in midweek to close the gap to 3 points on leaders Ketton. Wisbech Town finishing 3rd in the table playing for the final time this season.
A home match against 4th placed Wisbech St Mary Ladies on Sunday for Riverside. Jade Ramm scoring a hat-trick for the Peterborough based side. Samantha Woodham with a brace with Gabija Pavlova, Dionne Lawton and Lianna Bell all getting a goal in an 8-0 win. A double header at home to Hungate Rovers Ladies to come this Sunday and already with their noses in front on goal difference only a point is needed to ensure the league is won.
Spalding United Ladies were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies this Sunday in their penultimate game of the season. Scoring 4 goals without reply in the game collected all three points.
An encouraging end to the season for Orton Rangers Ladies having struggled for much of the season end the season earning 8 points from their last 5 matches. A 2nd successive win in their final game of the season at home to Hungate Rovers Ladies. A single goal enough to win the 3 points end the season on a positive note.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
Two big wins for Histon Ladies Reserves in their final two games of the season in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South saw them not only move into the lead at the top of the table but overhaul their title rivals Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds superior goal difference too. A midweek win at home to bottom side Burwell Tigers 11-0 moving them level on points with the leaders. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparks top scoring in the game with a hat-trick. Were at home on Sunday for the final time this season taking on Cambridge Rangers another huge win 13-0 saw Histon move 3 points clear at the top ahead on goal difference with Fulbourn in action for the final time on Tuesday against Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves.
Before then Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves were in action on Sunday away to St Ives Town Development knowing a point or better would secure them 3rd position in the Championship South table. A close game between the sides, goals from Kate Silver Dominika Szary and Sarah O’Rourke seeing Newmarket win the game 3-2 to claim 3rd spot.
Onto the final game of the season a win the requirement for Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds at home to Newmarket Town Reserves if they wanted to finish level with Histon at the top. Fulbourn winning the game 5-2 to finish level on points with Histon at the top of the table both losing just the one game each all season.
NB – Jumped the gun by declaring Histon Ladies Reserves league winners as according to league rules finishing level on points there must be a play-off game. Wasn’t aware of this the date for the game to be announced.
A midweek clash between the top two in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Wednesday evening. A celebration in the finish with St Ives Town Ladies clinching the league title on Sunday hosting runners-up Newmarket Town Ladies.
St Ives Town Ladies winning the Premiership title in just their 3rd season together. Confirmed as league winners at the weekend after opponents Netherton United couldn’t field a side. 3 points awarded that meant they could no longer be caught at the top of the table with an 8 point lead at the top of the table with Newmarket Town Ladies also awarded a home win at weekend having 2 games left to play.
Has been a strange season everywhere the awful weather seeing no end of games called off prolonging a season teams having to play double headers at the end to ensure the fixtures were caught up. Both St Ives Town Ladies and Newmarket Town Ladies overhauling the early pace setters, Netherton United Ladies.
One more game left to play for St Ives Town Ladies at the ProEdge Westwood Road Stadium home to the St Ives Town FC. A strong league campaign losing just once all season in their opening fixture against Newmarket Town Ladies. Now they both meet at the opposite end of the season 1st & 2nd in the league. Nothing riding on this evenings match both sides should be able to relax and express themselves.
A dry and firm surface at the ProEdge Stadium, the pitch worn in places after a long season. Three stands over on the far side of the ground the clubhouse opposite with bar, function room and refreshments all available. A mild evening not as hot as it has been in recent days.

The ball worked forwards up to striker Jordanne Sillitoe moving out to the left she sends a diagonal ball forwards into the area Abbi Griffin making the central run in the clear closing down St Ives goalkeeper Kira Markwell she is first to the ball kicking it clear as Griffin turns looking to block the ball.
St Ives press the attack captain Amy Seymour-Shove getting in behind on the left sends a squared cross along the face of goal, met on the far side a shot drilling in low, Eloise Hope in goal for Newmarket is right behind it down to gather the ball. Sillitoe operating as the lone attacker for Newmarket with support from Laura Bailey will move out to the flanks to receive the ball good hold up play as the diagonal ball from Antonia Smith is put into her turns off her marker and sends a cross in to the area the ball out of play at Markwell’s far post with Griffin trying to make up the ground.

Connie Liddiard winning the ball back at left back bringing it on up the flank before sending it forwards for Coulson she plays it early Georgia Stancombe looking to get in behind central, Newmarket centre back Chloe Slater going with her clears the ball as it drops over her shoulder.
Jess Linger back to help the defence gets across Georgia Stancombe as Hannah Seymour-Shove turns play around in the middle, sees the ball back into her goalkeepers gloves. Newmarket captain Beth Woodfield does the same as Amy Seymour-Shove looks to press in behind moving inside from the left. Harriet Ford with time and space on the ball inside the Newmarket half decides to have a crack at goal from 30 yards out, Hope right behind it drops to gather the ball into her body.

Play turned round quickly by both sides, Newmarket looking to get Griffin away on the right is tackled by Harriet Ford. St Ives get the ball up field rapidly the diagonal pass releasing Georgia Stancombe drifting out to the right her cross fired low into the area, a vital interception by Yasmin Woodfield on the penalty spot with Amy Seymour-Shove beyond her. Newmarket with a corner on the right an inswinging delivery to the middle of the goal a confident claim by Markwell.
Katie Stancombe in behind attacking with the ball on the right for St Ives her strike drilled in low towards the near post sees Hope well positioned to claim. An even start to the game both sides attacking. Beth Woodfield’s clearance long out to the left is picked up by Molly Agnew on the left side for Newmarket taking the ball into the box shoots the ball put in across the keeper Markwell making an excellent save getting down to her left to push the ball behind for the corner. A good ball into the area from the set-piece Sillitoe rising gets her head on the ball, can’t direct the ball on target out at the far post for a goal kick.
Smith plays the ball forwards into Bailey top of the area to the left of goal good hold up play, Agnew provides the run into the area, a touch from the St Ives defence on it’s way through Agnew settles for the corner. Another inswinging delivery from the left Markwell has it covered as it curls out over her crossbar. Penny Ford with a good tackle to stop Agnew’s run inside from the left. Hannah Seymour-Shove busy in the middle for St Ives has options left and right aswell as through the middle as the St Ives attackers all look for find space in behind the Newmarket defence playing a higher line than their opponents.

From the free-kick St Ives open the scoring the ball played long towards goal Hope moving across her line to the right does take the high ball in cleanly not secure it drops into the six yard box in front of her St Ives having 3 players closing her down on the follow up a little bit of head tennis before the final touch is applied sending the ball across goal and over the line Amy-Seymour-Shove getting the telling header 1-0.
Newmarket look for an immediate response Sillitoe coming to receive the ball centrally lays it on for Bailey through the middle into the area up against Anna Hicks as she closes in on goal gets a shot away the ball over the crossbar. Smith regaining the ball for Newmarket as St Ives look to break through the middle plays it out to Sillitoe to her left a long way out tries her luck a looping ball sent in towards goal has Markwell concerned as it drops but safe landing on the roof of the net.

Flack and Hicks both converge to stop Bailey as she tries to force her way into the area given the ball inside the D.
GOAL! A little under 10 minutes left in the 1st half and St Ives double their advantage. Katie Stancombe with a powerful run on the right side breaks in behind cutting inside and strikes the ball well evading Hope at the near post this time drilled across her and into the back of the net. 2-0.
Both goalkeepers alert to come and take the ball top of their areas as the ball is slid in behind. Bailey in the path of a poor kick out at the back tries to send the shot back in towards goal doesn’t get a clean connection no pace on the ball Markwell can bring it up into her gloves and kicking it long looks to set up another St Ives attack. St Ives press forwards, Amy Seymour-Shove clear on the left into Coulson on for Georgia Stancombe, Hope rushing out of her area doesn’t get a good kick on the ball it spins in behind Stancombe after it, Beth Woodfield recovers well for Newmarket sliding in to clear the ball away for the corner.

Sillitoe back on as Agnew brings the ball on down the right, squared centrally into Sillitoe 20 yards out her shot charged down the ball coming to Turner 20 she strikes the ball back in races wide of the post. Liddiard rises to head the ball inside the box to clear for St Ives as Linger plays a free-kick into the box. Sillitoe forcing her way forwards pushes the ball on for Turner through the middle, Flack tackling for St Ives.
The game stretched a little, Newmarket committing players forwards St Ives counter attack Hannah Seymour-Shove releases Georgia Stancombe clear into the Newmarket are right of goal slight hesitation before striking a shot wide across the face of goal. Beth Woodfield with a good tackle to deny Georgia Stancombe a shot as the striker looks to latch onto the ball played on through the middle. Into the final 10 minutes of the game St Ives are determined not to concede 3 defenders all close Agnew down as she attempts to drive on into the area with the ball on the left.

Sillitoe sees her strike from the top of the area charged down a 4th change for St Ives a keeper change Markwell off Sophie Marjoram joining the action.
A save for Marjoram in the closing moments of the game a shot coming into her from distance heading top corner the keeper getting across to parry the ball behind the corner coming to nothing as the final whistle blows and St Ives celebrate as they end their season with a win.

Three goals without reply to end the season for St Ives putting on a good show for the fans at the ProEdge Stadium. A solid performance, confident and determined not to concede. Players ready to attack all across the front line, moved the ball well. Newmarket’s season almost over a bit flat at the end has been a long campaign a busy spell recently too the players looked tired physically and mentally but should be proud of what they have achieved this season a memorable run in the FA Women’s Cup. Two young squads here gaining plenty of experience both will only improve going forwards.

This evening’s Women’s Football East – Player of the Match award goes to St Ives Town Ladies Hannah Seymour-Shove a strong performance in midfield lively closing down the ball and with her attackers always ready to go in front of her she had the vision and range of passes to pick them out.
