Painted an exciting title run in possible in both the Premier Division & Division One in the county in last weeks edition of The Round-Up, after this Sunday’s results it all changes with Division One settled (more on that below) and the readjusted Premier Division table seeing Leigh Ramblers Ladies now needing just a point from their remaining two matches to become champions.
Beginning with Leigh Ramblers they were playing the first of two potential tricky games against 3rd placed Collier Row Tigers this Sunday. Home advantage for Leigh Ramblers, Collier Row Tigers needed to win to keep alive any chance of chasing down top spot the gap 8 points going into the match. Leigh Ramblers holding a narrow 1-0 advantage at half-time going on to strike the ball into the back of the net twice more 2nd half to win the game 3-0 with Rebecca Dalgarno scoring a brace taking her onto 15 goals for the season along with a goal for Emily Diwell. Leigh Ramblers guaranteed 2nd at the very least 11 of their squad still U18.
Frontiers Ladies, 2nd in the Premier Division table seeing their own title hopes gone after they suffered defeat away at home this Sunday to Southend United Ladies. The visitors holding a 1-0 lead going into the half-time interval. That goal proving the difference as both sides fought to draw the 2nd period 2-2 meaning Southend claimed all 3 points courtesy of a 3-2 win and with 3 games left to play are now 3 points back from 4th placed Collier Row Tigers their run in seeing them taking on 3 of the top 4 including Collier Row Tigers in the last game of the season for both. Lauren Johnson with a brace for Southend along with Emily Pert on target for her 17th goal of the season. Frontiers with one game left to play now 4 points behind Leigh Ramblers their 2nd half goals scored by Sharon Ferguson and Charley Sandford.
Harlow Town Ladies Development climb back up into 3rd spot in the Premier Division table, maximum points now from their final 3 games can see them catch Leigh Ramblers currently on 36 points on goal difference, a huge ask, runners-up spot too on with the gap to 2nd placed Frontiers 5 points with 2 games in hand and one of there last 3 games at home to Frontiers. Still alot to play for. All set up this Sunday with a big home win against Chelmsford City Ladies. Top scorers for Harlow doing the damage Hannah Smith and Ellie Nicholls, the latter scoring a hat-trick to see her go to 21 goals for the season. Smith going one better scoring 4 goals in the match 33 goals for the season now from just 16 appearances. Harlow winning the game 7-2, Shannon Kelly and Georgia Sleep scoring for Chelmsford.
Essex Women’s Division One
Billericay Town Ladies Reserves are the Champions! Winning the Essex Women’s Division One title in their final game of the season a strong performance away to fellow title chasers Rayleigh Town Ladies on Sunday. Top of the table on goal difference over Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies going into the game a win would see Billericay assured top spot. A win for Rayleigh Town however would see a 3 way tie at the top on 48 points with a game left for Rayleigh to clinch the title themselves. As it was Billericay got the job done both sides scoring plenty of goals this season 242 between them going into the game Billericay scoring 4 more to end the season with 131 goals scored and keep Rayleigh at bay up the other end to clinch the title with a 4-0 victory to go 3 points clear. Rayleigh can still clinch runners-up spot with a win away to Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves in their final game of the season.
Hutton Ladies Reserves having secured a 4th placed finish in Division One were away to bottom side Island Ladies this Sunday. A brace each from Danielle Hindley and Rachael Agombar and a goal for Giulia Francesconi seeing Hutton win the game 5-0. Have two games left to play can’t catch 3rd but could close the gap to just 2 points and in doing so lay down a marker for next season.
Another condensed version of The Round-Up for the county leagues this week with just 11 games played across all the leagues covered by Women’s Football East this Easter Sunday.
Norfolk Women’s Division One
Starting in Norfolk, just two fixtures left to play with one on those taking place this weekend seeing Sprowston Athletic Ladies at home to Beccles Town Ladies, both sides promoted to Division One this season, will meet again in a fortnight in the League Plate final. Mixed fortunes with Beccles hit by injuries all season finishing bottom, Sprowston Athletic ending on a high results picking up towards the latter half of the season overhaul Bungay Town Ladies to secure a top half finish ending up in 4th place courtesy of a 5-0 win, K Welsh scoring a brace in the game with goals too for Keri Boorman, Melissa Belsey and Olivia Leggett in a 5-0 win.
Norfolk Women’s Division Two
In Norfolk Women’s Division Two, Taverham Women United are the Champions getting the point they needed to seal the title away to Hockering Ladies in their final game of the season this Easter Sunday. A fantastic achievement for the club playing their first ever season of women’s football have led the way for much of the season a long winning run, just the one defeat late on to dent the record. All under 18 bar one have kept getting the results despite some strong sides their to challenge. Hockering Ladies sadly short on players as they have been for most of the season battling on a creditable effort form everyone. 9 players against Taverham the visitors a handful at the best of times got into a 5-0 lead comfortable the title secured opted to drop down to 9 themselves to match Hockering a noble gesture didn’t stoop the goals as they added a further 5 to win the game 10-0. Three players netting a brace, Hannah Artis, Maya Lawlor and Tiegan Robinson with Jasmin Snelling, Lucy Staff, Summer Rogers and Abbie Walker all getting a goal each. Staff and Snelling with their first goals of the season.
Taverham Women United, Division Two Champions
Congratulations to Taverham Women United on winning the Norfolk Women’s Division Two title.
The only side to defeat Taverham in the league this season were Tavern Ladies. Coming on strong towards the end of the season themselves victory at home to Fakenham Town Ladies on Sunday seeing them move into 2nd position and pole position for clinching the runners-up spot. A 4-0 defeat to Fakenham on the opening day of the season Tavern have been behind the top three in part due to a run in the league cup that has seen them reach their first ever final. Tavern’s winning streak now reaching 10 wins in all competitions scoring plenty of goals along the way too. Fakenham needing the points themselves to put them into 2nd it was Tavern holding the advantage at half-time leading the game 2-0 the hosts went on to win the game 5-1. Atlanta Griffith scoring a brace to move onto 23 goals for the season, Katie Hart-Copsey adding another goal to her staggering 51 goal tally. Nicole Costin also getting a goal for Tavern to take her into double figures for the season an own goal too.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
One game in Cambridgeshire at the weekend from the Championship North, leaders Ketton Ladies at home to bottom side Pinchbeck United Ladies. Ketton extending their 100% winning record to 12 games to go 6 points clear at the top courtesy of a 2-0 win with the usual suspects on target for a goal each, Fran Kavanagh scoring her 45th goal of the season With Claire Lawrenson finding the back of the net for her 26th of the campaign.
Essex Women’s Premier Division
Essex saw the most league action at the weekend with five matches played. Sadly however there is some sad news to report from the league with Brentwood Town Ladies withdrawing from the Premier Division late in the campaign, no doubt a tough call to make, bottom of the league knew they were going to find it a challenge having been promoted despite a 4th placed finish last season, 11 losses have struggled to find a team on several weekends, with less than 75% of their fixtures played their results are expunged meaning adjustment to the table and some sides losing up to 6 points previously gained. Three games played in the Premier Division on Easter Sunday. Leigh Ramblers Ladies returning to the top of the table winning away from home against Silver End United Ladies who were playing their last game of the season. Amy Jacobs scoring a brace has 16 goals now for Leigh Ramblers from 9 appearances. Emily Diwell also on the scoresheet with Leigh Ramblers running out 3-0 winners. Leigh Ramblers a point clear of 2nd placed Frontiers Ladies with a game in hand.
Collier Row Tigers are now 3rd in the adjusted Premier Division table and with games home and away against Leigh Ramblers to come could yet have a say in the title race with 4 games left to play. Won the 3 points at home this Easter Sunday against Southend United Ladies. Top scorer Laura Bunton hitting a brace moving onto 33 goals for the season with Emma Harrison and Natalie Oxby also getting a goal apiece in a 4-1 win, Emily Pert scoring for Southend.
A point behind Collier Row Tigers in 4th spot Harlow Town Ladies Development also have 4 league games left. Were big winners away from home on Sunday taking on Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Leading 2-0 at half-time Harlow ran riot in the 2nd half to score a further 7 goals to win the game 9-1. Hannah Smith, top scorer on target for another hat-trick has 29 goals for the season now. Ellie Nicholls with a brace has 18 for the season. Also on target for a brace was Hariot Douglas her first goals for Harlow in just her 2nd appearance. Maisy Wyer and Poppy Binding with a goal each also scoring.
Essex Women’s Division One
Home wins awarded for earlier games called of now taking effect, Billericay Town Ladies return to the top of Essex Women’s Division One, ahead of Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies on goal difference. Nothing Dagenham & Redbridge can do having completed their fixtures but they are now sandwiched between the title contenders, with Rayleigh Town Ladies moving up to 3rd awarded points and winning at home this Easter Sunday against Runwell Sports Ladies who were playing their final game of the season. 51 goals for the season too for Isabelle Wallings scoring at the weekend with Sophie Rhodes making it 2 from 2 appearances for Rayleigh as they won the game 2-1. Danielle Dorrington scoring for Runwell who finish with 10 victories and 10 losses but just 27 points with a 3 point deduction.
The title battle between Billericay Town Ladies Reserves and Rayleigh Town Ladies, One game left for Billericay away to Rayleigh this coming Sunday 3 points the gap, Billericay win it they will be champions, draw and they will almost certainly be there with a far superior goal difference. A win for Rayleigh however and we have a 3 way tie at the top on 48 points. A point then for Rayleigh in their final game of the season away to Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves will see them clinch the title… a huge game on Sunday.
One other game played in Essex Women’s Division One this Easter Sunday with Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves beating Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves 3-1 away from home to climb up to 7th in their final game of the season, ending on a high thanks to a brace from Kelsey Honeywood and a goal for Millie Richards.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division One
Two games played in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this weekend both featuring Garston Ladies as the 1st team and 2nd XI met in a double header to get their games in towards the end of the season. 6 points up for grabs. Garston’s 2nd XI bottom of the table for much of the campaign finishing strong with 4 wins coming in their last 5 league matches. Charley Kesley with a brace along with a goal for Holly Jury her 10th of the season seeing them win one match 3-0. In the other game Kelsey was also on target for another goal to take her tally to 12 for the campaign. Top scorer Ruby Jager scoring a brace too has 15 for the season a closer game this time around with Garston’s 2nd XI edging it 3-2 the 6 points seeing them climb up to 6th in the table with 3 games left to play.
Harlow Town Ladies Development are the first side to reach the final of this season’s Essex Women’s League Cup. Their young side enjoying an impressive debut season in the Premier Division 4th in the table a long unbeaten run at the start of the season now into their 1st ever final. Were away to Division One side Runwell Sports Ladies who have been League Cup finalists themselves losing to Harlow’s 1st team 3 seasons ago. Harlow’s Development side enjoying a good first half showing to lead the game 3-0 built on that 2nd half adding a further 5 goals to book their spot in the final with an 8-1 win. Top scorer Hannah Smith on target for 4 of those goals taking her goals for the season up to 27. Ellie Nicholls also on the scoresheet with her 18th goal of the season with a goal each to for Maisy Wyer, Evie Anderson and Savannah Japal. Leigh Ramblers Ladies are at home to Southend United Ladies in the other League Cup semi-final taking place this coming Sunday.
Essex Women’s Premier Division
Collier Row Tigers are up to 3rd spot in the Essex Women’s Division after picking up the 3 point in an impressive win away to 4th placed Chelmsford City Ladies on Sunday. Top scorer Laura Bunton racing past the 30 goals mark with a 5 goal haul that sees her on 31 goals from just 12 appearances. Collier Row Tigers winning the game 6-0 with Emma Harrison the other goalscorer.
A 5th straight league win for Southend United Ladies sees them consolidate 6th position in the Essex Women’s Premier Division and with games in hand on the sides above them could yet push for a top half finish after a slow start to the campaign. Were in the road this Sunday taking on Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Jo Smeaton scoring her 20th goal of the season for the hosts it wasn’t enough for Beacon Hill Rovers to get anything from the game as goals from Lily Halliday and Ellie Wood saw Southend United win the game 2-1.
Essex Women’s Division One
In Essex Women’s Division One, Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies are the 1st side to play out all their fixtures end their campaign leading the table by 3 points wasn’t to be more as they suffered defeat in their final league match at home to 3rd placed Hutton Ladies Reserves. Baylie Kingsnorth celebrating a brace, with a goal each for Vicky Kinsman and Cassandra Piejko plus an own goal in a 5-0 win. Dagenham & Redbridge can only wait and see what the chasing pack will do, a 3rd placed finish guaranteed at least, with both 2nd placed Billericay Town Ladies Reserves 3 points behind with 3 games in hand and 5th placed Rayleigh Town Ladies on 30 points with 7 still to play can overhaul them. Either way a great season for Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies. Hutton Ladies Reserves enjoying a strong season too have had a real impact on the title race.
FC Clacton Ladies climb up to 4th in the Essex Women’s Division One table winning at home this Sunday against Chigwell Ladies. Goals from Jasmine Cox, Lauren Lucas and a 1st of the season from Sasha Moy securing a 3-1 win for FC Clacton. Victoria Parker getting on the scoresheet for Chigwell Ladies her 15th goal of the season.
A home win too this Sunday in Division One for Chelmsford City Ladies taking on Belhus Ladies, goals from Kelsey Honeywood and Tish Cleary seeing Chelmsford win the game 2-1 to record their 3rd league win of the season enough to take them above Belhus into 9th place in the table. A reduced fixture list across the county leagues in the East this weekend, Sunday being Mother’s Day just 15 games played across the whole of the region felt it easiest to place all the games in one edition of The Round-Up. A handful of games in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex & Beds & Herts.
Norfolk Women’s Division One
Beginning in Norfolk, two matches played in Division One on Sunday. League Champions, Thorpe United Ladies playing their last game of the campaign away to Bungay Town Ladies. 12 wins and a single defeat in the 13 games played to date a successful league campaign for Thorpe bringing a number of youth players into the squad this season, have performed well the club running away with the leagues, injuries stretching them towards the end were looking to end on a high against a Bungay side starting to move in the right direction themselves after a difficult start to the season. Always competitive between the two a heavy defeat for Thorpe at Bungay last season, a better start to the game scoring twice to lead the game 2-0 at half-time. A competitive 2nd half saw Bungay fight back scoring 3 goals, Thorpe responding adding a further two goals to win the game 4-3. Captain Rebekah Lake finishing well clear as top scorer for Thorpe a goal on Sunday taking her to 18. Midfielder Laura Hedtke also into double figures for the season with a goal finishes on 11. Victoria McNorton and Millie Cursons also on the scoresheet. Selina Rowland, Grace Storey and Jody Wells getting the Bungay goals.
Gorleston Ladies up to 3rd in the Division One table have 2nd placed Sprowston Ladies in their sights, were at home this Sunday taking on 4th placed Sprowston Athletic Ladies. A close game a goal each for Sophie Gillett and Bethany Turner enough to win the game for Gorleston despite a goal from Kate Morris for Sprowston Athletic the hosts winning 2-1 move to within a point of Sprowston Ladies with a game in hand.
Norfolk Women’s Division Two
A first defeat in the league in women’s football for Norfolk Women’s Division Two leaders, Taverham United Women last Sunday losing 3-0 at home to in form Tavern Ladies. Taverham bouncing back straight away with an away win against bottom side Bulldogs Ladies this Sunday in the only match taking place in the division. The scores close at half-time with Taverham holding a narrow 1-0 advantage. The visitors getting the better of the 2nd half despite Bulldogs getting a goal themselves Taverham going on to score 3 more to win the game 4-1 to go 9 points clear at the top of the table, Hannah Artis bagging herself a hat-trick in the game along with a goal for top scorer Rebecca Sutton who now has 35 goals for the season.
Suffolk Women’s Division
Three league games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday, East Bergholt United Ladies keeping their 6 point lead at the top of the table with a home win in a high scoring match with 3rd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies. The visitors scoring 3 goals, East Bergholt securing the 3 points hitting five in reply. Stacey Teager scoring a brace to move to 16 goals for the season. Another goal for Annie Northwood takes her to 33 for the campaign. Jessica Clark and Jessica Quinsee also scoring a goal a piece. 2nd placed Needham Market Women awarded the 3 points for a home win against Alresford Colne Rangers.
Brettvale Ladies keep up their good form in 2019 just the one defeat from 8 played. A point earned on the road this Sunday away to Leiston St Margaret Ladies. Pushing for a decent mid-table finish and a good platform to build on for next season. Tarnya McKew scoring her 18th goal for Brettvale since joining the game finishing 1-1.
A winning end to the season for Brightlingsea Regent Ladies, their first season in women’s football coming to an end at home to Chantry Grasshoppers Ladies. The team continuing to develop haven’t always got the points they deserved, looking for a new manager to take their development further. 1-0 up at half-time Brightlingsea made sure of a winning finish adding a further 2 goals 2nd half to win the game 3-1. Paige Knight, Jessica Scott and Lucy Tilbury with her 1st of the season the goalscorers. Felicia Harris with her first Chantry Grasshoppers goal.
Essex Women’s Premier Division
Two games in the Essex Women’s Premier Division this Sunday. League Cup action or lack of seeing Harlow Town Ladies lose ground in the league a comfortable victory at home on this weekend saw them climb back up to 3rd in the table. Were taking on Silver End United Ladies, 2-0 up at half-time, Harlow scoring a further 2 in the 2nd period to clinch the 3 points. Top scorer Hannah Smith amongst the goals with her 23rd of the season, 17 goals too now for Ellie Nicholls also getting a goal. Lucy Edmeades with a goal too with Ellie Wallace another new name amongst the goal scorers for Harlow this season with her first goal in just her 2nd appearance.
In the other game played on Sunday in the Essex Women’s Premier Division it was a 7 goal thriller between Corringham Cosmos and Southend United Ladies. Rebecca Gallagher getting hosts Corringham off to a great start scoring her 17th goal of the season in the opening minute. Southend getting back on level terms to see the sides drawing 1-1 at half-time. The visitors getting the better of the 2nd half a further 5 goals added to win the game 4-3. Michelle Sumpter on the hour and final minute for Corringham. Lily Halliday, Ria Toovey, Kate Wiseman and Lauren Johnson with the goals for Southend.
Essex Women’s Division One
One game taking place in Essex Women’s Division One on Sunday with Chigwell Ladies at home to 4th placed Rayleigh Town Ladies. 46 goals now for Rayleigh Town captain Isabelle Wallings scoring a brace against Chigwell. Was Sunday’s top scorer however with a hat-trick for Holly Gash who herself moves onto 22 goals for the season. Millie Arnold also on the scoresheet with a goal along with Sophie Rhodes scoring on her Rayleigh Town debut in a 7-0 victory.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division One
The top sides bunch up again in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One with leaders Northwood Ladies not in action the chasing sides all picked up the 3 points to see just 4 points once again between the top 4. 3rd placed Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies awarded the home win over Sharnbrook, there were two matches played on Sunday.
2nd placed St Albans Ladies closing to within a point of Northwood winning away to bottom side, Garston Ladies 2nd XI. A fantastic start for the visitors 2-0 up inside the opening 6 minutes. Michaela Johnson making it 1-0 with less than a minute played, Molly Slade doubling the lead. Garston doing well to keep St Albans adding further goals, just 3 minutes left on the clock, St Albans doing 3-0 up, Slade with her 2nd of the match in the 87th minute, a 4th goal added in the final minute with Ellen Salter finding the back of the net for her 15th goal of the season.
A closer score for 4th placed Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires away to Sherrardswood Ladies on Sunday winning the 3 points with a 2-1 result to keep them right up with the league leaders in Division One.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two
4 points from their remaining 2 league games will see Hitchin Belles win the Beds & Herts Division Two title. Move 7 points clear at the top with a comfortable home win over Evergreen Eagles on Sunday. Top scorer Katie White netting a hat-trick moves to 21 goals for the season. Amy Jack back amongst the goals with a brace to go to 18. With a brace to for Kiera How enjoying a good run in front of goal with 14 goals now for the season. Hitchin Belles winning the game 7-1. Sophie Kempsford on the scoresheet for Evergreen Eagles. Hitchin Town Ladies the side that can catch them with games in hand. Hitchin Belles last game of the season away to their local rivals.
2nd placed Letchworth Garden City Eagles ow title hopes dashed on Sunday as they lost away to 5th placed Evergreen Ladies on Sunday. Captain Rebecca Freeman scoring twice as Evergreen continued their recent good form with a 4th straight league win to put them to within a point of 4th placed Royston Town Ladies Development with a game in hand.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three
Two games too in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three this Sunday. With leaders AFC Dunstable Ladies Development not in action it was an opportunity for 2nd placed Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses to close the gap at the top back to 4 points. Were away to Stotfold Juniors Ladies. Giselle Randall continuing her excellent season in front of goal for the visitors scoring a hat-trick to take her onto 24 goals for the season. The winning score 4-0 with Kodi Meader also on the scoresheet with her 1st of the season.
In the other game was 3rd versus 4th with Langford Ladies away to AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. A tight game between the sides goalless at half-time a single goal enough to win the points in the 2nd half, Kayleigh Humphries getting the goal the win taking Kempston Town & Bedford College back above Langford into 3rd place.
Women’s Football East was down in Essex this Sunday at Aveley FC for the Final of the Essex Women’s Trophy. The third final as Essex FA held the#FemaleFinalsDay Bowers & Pitsea Ladies taking on Lawford Ladies in this season’s final. Both sides playing in ERWFL Division One a bright sunny afternoon, an entertaining game Lawford coming close early on with captain Daisy Canny taking the ball around the keeper inside the box smashing her shot against the post. Bowers & Pitsea breaking forwards well up the other end creating chances Sophie Dowman pressuring the Lawford defence setting up the opening goal playing the ball into Holly Moore striking the ball first time rifles her shot into the top corner to give Bowers & Pitsea the lead. Georgia Fraser bursting through on goal doubling the lead just past the half hour blasting a shot over the keeper from the edge of the area.
A 2-0 lead for Bowers & Pitsea Ladies at half-time Lawford doing some reorganising at half-time begin the 2nd half well getting onto the front foot, pressing the ball higher limiting the balls up to Bowers & Pitsea’s attackers. Pushing for a goal Lawford pull one back from a superbly struck free-kick for Jodie Sharp. Lawford continue to battle get players forwards creating chances, Bowers & Pitsea need a 3rd goal and get it on the counter in the final 10 minutes Holly Moore on just returned to the action firing home another clinical finish to make it 3-1. Lawford come straight back to reduce the deficit once more from a free kick wide on the left the ball into the area not cleared Tess Ryan scrambling it home inside the six yard box. Bowers & Pitsea Ladies hold on in the closing moments to win the game 3-2 and win the final.
Elsewhere in the county their was more cup action with the twice postponed Essex Women’s League Cup quarter final between Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves and Harlow town Ladies Development at last taking place. Harlow Town’s youngsters doing well in the Premier Division easing through to the last 4 of the League Cup with a convincing away win on Sunday. Both Hannah Smith and Ellie Nicholls scoring 4 goals each in the match have 38 goals between them. Jazi Davidson also getting her name on the scoresheet her first goal of the season, Harlow winning 9-0. Will be away in the semi-finals taking in Division One side Runwell Sports Ladies the game scheduled for Sunday 7th April. Leigh Ramblers Ladies at home to Southend United Ladies in the other semi-final to be played a week later.
Essex Women’s Premier Division
Three games played in the Essex Women’s Premier Division this Sunday. Leigh Ramblers Ladies were playing just their 3 league game of the year have had plenty of cup action during that spell. That though has seen their lead at the top of the Essex Women’s Premier Division lost to Frontiers Ladies. Back in league action this Sunday were looking to close the gap as they took on 3rd placed Chelmsford City Ladies at home. Chelmsford undefeated in the Premier Division in 7 games going into this Sunday’s clash. Leigh Ramblers edging it at the half-time interval leading the game 2-1, getting a 3rd in the 2nd half to win the game and close the gap to Frontiers back to 2 points with 2 games in hand. Collier Row Tigers take advantage of Harlow Town Ladies Developments delayed League Cup quarter final with victory away from home on Sunday to climb above them into 4th in the Essex Women’s Premier Division table. Corringham Cosmos the hosts saw Michelle Sumpter scoring a goal either side of half-time, it wasn’t enough to get anything from the game however with Collier Row Tigers clinching the 3 points with a 3-2 win.
Silver End United Ladies were also in league action on Sunday at home to Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. A goal in each half for Danielle Bragg and Roxanne Gardner seeing Silver End United win the game 2-0, the 3 points lifting them up to 6th in the table.
Essex Women’s Division One
Billericay Town Ladies Reserves lost at the weekend for just the 2nd time this season. At home were taking on Rayleigh Town Ladies. Plenty of goals in both squads, Rayleigh were beaten by a mouthwatering scoreline in the County Cup by Billericay’s first team earlier in the season. A small measure of revenge this Sunday as they clinched the points away from home. Isabelle Wallings scoring twice to add to her impressive goals haul this season now standing at 44 and plenty of games left to play. Nancy Butler also on the scoresheet, recently joined from Billericay has 3 goals now in 2 appearances. Rayleigh Town winning the game 3-1. Rachel Marris-Armstrong scoring the goal for Billericay.
That result coupled with a big away win for Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies sees them go 3 points clear at the top of Division One. Were taking on bottom side Island Ladies this Sunday. Jodie Barden on target for a hat-trick takes her onto 10 goals for the season for Dagenham & Redbridge. 18 goals too now for Grace Tebb-Reading scoring a goal too at the weekend, Juliet Thomas and Evie Doyle-Love both on the scoresheet with a goal a piece too in a 6-0 win.
It was a high scoring match between 5th placed FC Clacton Ladies and Belhus Ladies this Sunday the sides sharing a 9 goal thriller. A brace each for Charlotte Warren and Amy Hartley along with a strike from Megan-Leigh Lawrence seeing the win go narrowly to FC Clacton the hosts winning the game 5-4 to get the 3 points. A god effort from Belhus their goals scored by Bethany Murray, Amara Drummond and a brace for Aimee Hunt.
Last but not least a home win on Sunday in Division One for Chigwell Ladies sees them up to 7th in the table. Were taking on Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves. Chelmsford City Ladies had the opportunity to go up into 3rd place in the Premier Division with Harlow Town Ladies Development in league Cup action, ended up being postponed. Chelmsford on the road taking on Silver End United Ladies on Sunday. Mia Brisley with her 7th goal of the season and Georgia James scoring for the 11th time securing a 2-0 win for Chelmsford taking them 3 points clear into 3rd position in the table.
In the other game from the Essex Women’s Premier Division on Sunday afternoon Southend United Ladies were at home taking on Corringham Cosmos. The sides in a close fought contest Southend holding a narrow lead at the half-time interval leading 3-2. Rebecca Gallagher with both goals for Corringham Cosmos, completed her hat-trick midway through the 2nd half to bring up her 16th goal of the season. Southend though adding a further 2 goals in the 2nd period went on to win the match 5-3 to earn the 3 points. Ellie Wood scoring a brace with Lauren Johnson, Lilly Halliday and top scorer Emily Pert all getting on the scoresheet, Southend moving into 6th.

Three matches played in Essex Women’s Division One on Sunday, the leading pair not in action. A brace for Giulia Francesconi her 6th & 7th goals of the season securing a 2-0 win for third placed Hutton Ladies Reserves away to Belhus Ladies.
Runwell Sports Ladies keep up the pressure for position in 4th a point behind Hutton with a good result away to Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Aaryanna Simonelli celebrating a brace for Runwell moves onto 20 goals for the season. Rachael Selfe with a goal too has 10 now for the campaign. Goals too for Megan Marney, Rebecca Pope, Danielle Dorrington and Autumn Ranger in a 7-2 win. Runwell with some good results have played more games than the rest but look to be in good shape going forwards. Kesley Honeywood with both the goals for Chelmsford.
FC Clacton Ladies 5th in Division One were away to bottom side Island Ladies at the weekend. Top scorers Becky McDougall on target to score a brace with 15 now for the season, there was a brace too for Lauren Lucas with Charlotte Warren also scoring a goal her 10th of the campaign in a 5-1 win for the visitors. Frontiers Ladies beat Premier Division leaders Leigh Ramblers last time out to close the gap to a point, since awarded a home win, moved above them, and with Leigh Ramblers not in action this Sunday had the chance to go further ahead as they hosted 3rd placed side Harlow Town Ladies Development. A local derby, Harlow’s young side have been unlucky with injuries, a good test for both sides. Frontiers coming out on top to win the 3 points and go 5 points clear at the top of the table. Anna Freeman scoring a brace, with a goal for Charley Sandford in a 3-0 win. Harlow losing for just the 2nd time in the league this season.
That defeat allowing 4th placed Chelmsford City Ladies to move level on points with Harlow as they secured the 3 points at home to Silver End United Ladies on Sunday. Tyler Christou getting her 1st goal since rejoining the club, Aimee Gannon also on target for Chelmsford for her 1st goal of the season scoring from the penalty spot. Chelmsford winning 2-0.
5th placed Collier Row Tigers are just two points behind Harlow & Chelmsford with games in hand on both. Were on the road this Sunday playing bottom side Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves. A close contest between the sides Collier Row Tigers edging the result with a 3-2 win. Emily Dempsey scoring her 8th goal of the season, Helen Moreira also celebrating a goal along with a 1st of the season for Fran Pridie. Brentwood remain without a point at the bottom of the Premier Division their goals from Lauren Knight plus an own goal.
A hat-trick from Emily Pert helped to secure the home win for Southend United Ladies on Sunday in their Premier Division game with Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Pert with 12 now for the season. Billericay Town Ladies Reserves maintain their 6 point lead at the top of the Essex Women’s Division One table with their 15th league win of the season this Sunday away to FC Clacton Ladies. Have lost just the once this season fielded the bare 11 this Sunday, it was enough to secure the 3 points with 2 goals scored without reply, a 4th goal of the season each for Anna-Maria Rains and Kelsey Smith.
Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies in 2nd place in the Essex Women’s Division One table also picked up another 3 point haul this Sunday away from home against Belhus Ladies. Both Grace Tebb-Reading and Juliet Thomas completing a hat-trick in the game for the visitors, Jodie Barden also getting a goal as well as a first of the season for Gracei Robinson in an 8-1 victory. Danni Jennings with her 11th of the season on target for Belhus.

Captain Isabella Wallings getting another goal to move to 41 for the season for Rayleigh. Runwell Sports Ladies are 5th in the Division One table were at home this Sunday taking on Chigwell Ladies the sides drawing 1-1 at half-time Runwell Sports getting the better of their opponents in the 2nd half winning the game 4-2. Runwell Sports’ goals scored by Victoria Martin and Autumn Ranger. Aaryanna Simonelli with a goal too the clubs top goalscorer now with 17 for the season, whilst it was a 1st goal of the season for Anna Winfield. Jessica MacNab with both the goals for Chigwell.
Plenty of goals too in the final match from Essex with bottom sides meeting Island Ladies at home to Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves on Sunday in Division One. 8 goals shared between them the pair taking a point each from the game drawing 4-4 at the final whistle. Charlotte Stelmaszyk with a brace for Chelmsford, Rebecca Lucy also on the scoresheet with Jemma Debrick scoring her 1st Chelmsford goal. It was a busy weekend of football in Essex at the weekend with a busy league programme aswell as the semi-finals of both the Women’s County Cup and Trophy competition’s.
C&K Basildon Ladies won their Essex Women’s County Cup semi-final on Sunday to reach a fifth consecutive final. Have dominated the competition in recent seasons winning the final for the past 4 seasons as they progressed through the women’s football pyramid climbing up to the FAWPL Southern Premier Division. A much changed side this season will be defending the trophy. Basildon away to ERWFL Division One side Hutton Ladies in the last 4 of the county cup. Hutton with Victoria Kinsman leading their attack the current Essex Women’s Trophy holders. 37 goals for the striker now this season as she got on the scoresheet again this Sunday for Hutton. As good at it got for the hosts however as Basildon’s Holly Turner scored a hat-trick in the match. A goal too for Jodie Osbourne scoring almost a year to the day after suffering a broken leg. Basildon winning the game 5-1 to book their spot in the final.
Their opponents this season will be Billericay Town Ladies who recruited a few Basildon players during the close season as they won promotion to the FAWNL themselves. Currently 2nd on South East Division One, Billericay were at home in their semi-final taking on last season’s finalists, Brentwood Town Ladies. Billericay have a strong squad scoring plenty of goals they proved too strong for their ERWFL Premier Division One who had just the bare 11 available. Billericay taking the lead in the 20th minute with new signing Kerry Stimson scoring her 1st goal for her new club. A 2nd goal coming 5 minutes later captain Lindsey Morgan volleying in from a corner kick. Two minutes later a chance for 3-0 from the penalty spot former Billericay goalkeeper Robyn Strauss saving for Brentwood.
The 3rd goal coming in the 37th minute with Billericay’s Morgan heading home inside the box from another corner. Zoe Rushen scoring Billericay’s 4th 3 minutes later. Morgan went on to complete her hat-trick in the final minute of the 1st half. A 5-0 lead for Billericay at half-time. Morgan was on the end of another cross to score her 4th of the game with 10 minutes of the 2nd half played. Sophie Vale scoring a brace for the hosts in the 64th and 78th minute to seal an 8-0 victory for Billericay.

Essex Women’s Trophy
Semi-finals time to in the Essex Women’s Trophy competition this Sunday. Bowers & Pitsea Ladies reaching their 1st ever final under their new name. The ERWFL Division One side in the hunt for the title in their league were drawn at home to Essex Premier Division, Collier Row Tigers, playing in the league below carry a potent goal threat. Bowers & Pitsea taking the lead in the semi-final with Sophie Dowman finding the back of the net in the 15th minute. Collier Row Tigers coming back into it to level the scores in the 35th minute and see the sides go in level at the break. Dowman with a 2nd goal 11 minutes into the 2nd half her 12th strike of the season restoring Bowers & Pitsea’s lead. 4 minutes later Georgia Fraser scoring from a free-kick fired the hosts into a 3-1 lead and into the Trophy final.
Their opponents in the Trophy final itself with be fellow ERWFL Division One side Lawford Ladies as they over came opponents Silver End United Ladies in extra-time on Sunday. Silver End United hosting Lawford reaching the final of the Trophy last season. A quickfire 1st half brace from Sarah Jolly, it was all square at 90 minutes with Lawford hitting to up the other end. The visitors getting the better of Silver End in the extra period of play scoring two more to win the game 4-2 and reach the final.
The Essex Women’s Trophy to take place at Aveley FC on Sunday 24th March with a 4:00pm kick-off.

Three games played in the Essex Women’s Premier Division this Sunday. The top two meeting for the 3rd time this season. Leigh Ramblers Ladies leading the table by 4 points over Frontiers Ladies. The previous games going Leigh Ramblers way, ending Frontiers 100% winning start to the league and then knocking them out of the League Cup. Leigh Ramblers with 10 straight league wins hadn’t lost since the opening day of the season. A close contest between the sides at the weekend Frontiers coming away with the narrow win with goals from Emma Best and Anna Freeman seeing them run out 2-1 winners with Amy Jacobs scoring for the hosts. A 2nd defeat of the season for Leigh Ramblers with Frontiers closing to within a point.
4th placed Chelmsford City Ladies were away to Corringham Cosmos Ladies this Sunday in the Premier Division. Shannon Kelly on the scoresheet for Chelmsford. Milly Thompson on target with 20 minutes to go for Corringham as the two sides shard the points. Corringham finding a bit of form now undefeated in open play in 3 games.
It was a 3rd win of the season for Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies in the Premier Division on Sunday. There last league win coming back in November away to bottom side Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves. 2-1 back then they meet in the reverse fixture this weekend Beacon Hill Rovers at home. Katie Bowman with her 1st of the season scoring for Brentwood Town. It was a repeat result from the game in November with Beacon Hill Rovers scoring twice up the other end too take the 3 points Louise Oliver with her 1st of the season and a goal from Amber Long securing the win.

Four matches played in Essex Women’s Division One on Sunday with the top 3 all winning again, the top four if you count FC Clacton Ladies after they secured the 3 points at home at the weekend to climb two places into 4th in the table. Clacton were hosting Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves in their league fixture. Charlotte Warren scoring a hat-trick for the hosts to move onto 9 for the season, Charlotte Robertson also on target with a goal aswell as top scorer Becky McDougall netting her 13th of the campaign in a 5-0 win.

Nicola Carty seeing Billericay to the 3 points scoring at hat-trick to move her onto 13 goals for the season and keep them 6 points clear at the top of the table. A much closer contest for 3rd placed Hutton Ladies Reserves at home to Chigwell Ladies this Sunday in Division One. A goal from Kirsti McLeavy the difference between the sides her 3rd goal of the season for Hutton securing the 3 points in a 1-0 victory.
Like everywhere else across the country the over night rain affected the fixtures in the Essex Women’s County league’s with just 4 games surviving in all competitions with just the one league game being played in the Premier Division this Sunday. That game saw Corringham Cosmos at home to bottom club Brentwood Town Ladies Reserves who travelled with just the 10 available. Corringham struggling for players themselves at times this season have only won two games previously one of those against Brentwood, their last league win back in October. Michelle Sumpter getting Corringham off to a good start opened the scoring in the 10th minute went on to add a further 2 goals before half an hour was played to complete a 1st half hat-trick, Nicole-Marie Mitchell also scoring for Corringham in the 40th minute to see them comfortably leading 4-0 at the break. A quieter 2nd period, Corringham extending the lead with 20 minutes to go with top scorer Rebecca Gallagher celebrating her 13th goal of the season. Charlotte Anderson puling a goal back for Brentwood with 15 to go lose 5-1 and remain without a point on the board. Corringham up to 6th off the back of their 3rd league win of the season.

Two games played in Essex Women’s Division One this Sunday, and incredible 21 goals scored between both. 2nd placed Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies getting themselves into a strong position at half-time away to Runwell Sports Ladies in Sunday holding a 4-0 lead went on to add another goal in the 2nd period to further strengthen their 2nd placed position. Nicole Doyle-Love hitting a brace for Dagenham & Redbridge, their was a goal each too for Morgan Duffield, Jodie Barden and Grace Tebb-Reading the later pair both moving onto double figures for the season.
In the other game played in Division One on Sunday Rayleigh Town Ladies were at home to FC Clacton Ladies the sides sharing 16 goals between them, an incredible scoreline would be rough on the losing side. Jasmine Cox making her first start for FC Clacton marking her debut with 4 goals, Lauren Lucas scoring twice for the visitors with Charlotte Warren also getting a goal. 7 for the visiting side however wasn’t enough to see them get anything from the game. Rayleigh Town Ladies are scoring plenty of goals themselves the bulk of these coming from captain Isabelle Wallings she now has an incredible 40 goals to herself as she rattled in a further 4 goals against Clacton. Wallings not the only goalscorer in Rayleigh’s squad, Eleasha Reeves getting in on the goal scoring claiming a hat-trick to take her onto 16 goals for the campaign. 16 goals too for Megan Harley as she added a goal on Sunday along wit Holly Gash who has 15 now, Rayleigh Town climbing above FC Clacton and Runwell Sports Ladies up into 4th position in the Division One table courtesy off a 9-7 victory.

One outstanding tie from the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s League Cup to be played this Sunday with Division One side Hutton Ladies Reserves away to Premier Division side, Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. With their 1st team not in action Hutton were able to call on the services of Victoria Kinsman the striker in prolific form in front of goal this season scoring plenty in the ERWFL she was on target for a double hat-trick this Sunday against Beacon Hill Rovers. Baylie Kingsnorth and Cassandra Piejko also getting a goal a piece along with Gemma Stubbles getting her 1st goal of the season for Hutton in a 9-2 win. Jo Smeaton with both the goals for Beacon Hill Rovers.
