Women’s Football East – Player of the Match
Onto this afternoon’s Women’s Football East – Player of the Match (better not change my mind now) It was a tough one several performances of note. First for Portishead, Rosie Hill carried a threat on the left of attack enjoying a good contest with Re looked the most likely to unlock the defence. Lulu Watts coming on 2nd half was strong in the middle making several driving runs on the ball. Chloe Fensome pulling off some fantastic saves. For Cambridge was an all round strong team performance the defence solid. Abbi Griffin with some wonderful passing play in the middle of the park. Ruth Fox in attack led the line well taking on players and looking to bring others into play, both close to winning the award today but just edging them out is Abi Davies out on the right of attack was a constant threat with her pace and determination to get forwards.
An entertaining game from the Determining Round of the FAWNL Cup, Cambridge progressing to the Cup proper, Portishead will now enter the Plate competition. Good to see another new side in action. Despite the result today can see the attacking threat they carry. My thanks to both sides for providing the team details today as always it’s much appreciated. Good luck to both in their respective cup competitions.
