Essex Women’s Premier Division

A full fixture list in the Essex Women’s Premier Division this Sunday with the top 4 all picking up good results. Silver End United Ladies continuing their fantastic start to the season away to bottom side Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies this weekend. Unbeaten in 7 now at the start of the season dropping just 2 points Silver End recording their biggest win of the league campaign to date making a great start to the game Lindsey Cowell scoring inside the opening 5 minutes. A brace for Lauren Hannah along with a goal for Helen Alder seeing Silver End leading 4-1 at the break, Jo Smeaton with the goal for Beacon Hill Rovers. Alder going on to add a 2nd goal early in the 2nd period her 5th of the season. Rosi Webb with her 7th goal of the season making it 6-1 from the penalty spot midway through the half. Michelle Hodgson on target for her first goal of the season making it 7-1 with 10 minutes left the final score 8-1 to Silver End with Stephanie A’Len registering her first goal of the campaign in the final minute.

Collier Row Tigers remain hot on Silver End’s heels in 2nd spot a game in hand 3 points behind unbeaten themselves now from 6 played again dropping just 2 points so far. Away to Billericay Town Ladies Development this Sunday, Billericay finding some form recently winning 3 out of their last 4 in league and cup. Collier Row Tigers confident themselves scoring plenty of goals, particuarly Laura Bunton who races onto 21 goals for the season netting a brace at the weekend. A brace also for Roseanne Shafier who has 8 for Collier Row now. Mia Cooman celebrating a goal too for the visitors with Fran Pridie on target to score her first goal of the season in a 6-1 victory. Rebecca Gallagher with her 5th goal of the season scoring for Billericay.

A good result at home for Chelmsford City Ladies at the weekend at home taking on Frontiers Ladies. 3rd in the Premier Division, Chelmsford bouncing back well after a couple of frustrating results in the league that has seen them lose ground on the leaders. All the goals coming in the first half Chelmsford getting themselves into a 3 goal lead keeping a clean sheet up the other end to win their 4th league match of the season, Shannon Kelly, Georgia James and Mia Brisley with the goals, all on 3 for the season.

Completing a quartet of wins for the top four sides in the Essex Premier Division are Southend United Ladies. Although they left it late to clinch victory on Sunday at home to newly promoted Rayleigh Town Ladies. Southend coming into the game on the back of 3 straight wins in league and cup. New signing Cristina Fragnito firing Southend into the lead with her first goal for the club. Rayleigh coming back to equalise before half-time Holly Gash scoring her 6th goal of the season. That the score heading into the closing minutes of the match Lauren Johnson on her first appearance for Southend scoring the winning goal in the final minute to make it 4 wins from 4 for club in October.

Essex Women’s Division One

A fantastic October too for newcomers Tigers Ladies coming into the month with their first league point under their belts, have gone on to win back to back league games to move up the Division One table. Now up to 4th as they win for a 3rd successive game ending Aveley Ladies 100% winning start in the process. A close game Aveley hosting Amara Drummond and Bethany Murray getting a goal apiece. Alexandra Collins scoring a first half brace for Tigers Ladies taking her to 5 for the season. Ellie Wallace on target to score her 8th goal of the season in the 82nd minute seeing Tigers Ladies win the match 3-2.

  One other match played in Essex Women’s Division One this Sunday, Hutton Ladies Reserves winning their first 3 points of the season at home taking on Chigwell Ladies. Scoring 3 goals without reply to move above Chigwell and Bowers & Pitsea Ladies Development into 6th place in the table.

ERWFL Premier Division

The Women’s FA Cup pushing this weeks ERWFL Round-Up back a bit. Plenty of action to cover and it is an ever changing picture at the top of the Premier Division table with new leaders at the top. Peterborough Northern Star Ladies moving a point clear at the top winning a 4th straight league game away to Haringey Borough Women on Sunday. Taking advantage of previous leaders Harlow Town Ladies involvement in the Women’s FA Cup. Leah Cudone a prolific attacker wherever she’s played joining Peterborough Northern Star this season put 4 into the back of the net on Sunday against bottom side Haringey to take her tally to the season into double figures. A first goal of the season too for Georgia Coulson as Peterborough wrapped up a 5-1 win their only loss in the league so far this season coming on the opening day.

Wroxham Women taking advantage too to Harlow’s involvement in the Women’s FA Cup despite the Essex side knocking them out in the previous round to move above them in the Premier Division table into 2nd. Back in action at home after two weeks were taking on Colney Heath Ladies, the Hertfordshire side showing good form recently to climb up the 2nd in the Premier Division table. Wroxham bringing that spell to an abrupt end taking the lead inside the opening 10 minutes Amber Rowland played in to shoot and find the bottom corner. Grace Birchall amongst the goals for Wroxham early in the season netting her 23rd goal from just 9 appearances midway through the 2nd half, running into a long ball to beat the defence and shoot into the top corner. An own goal from Colney Heath seeing Wroxham leading 3-0 at half-time. Lauren Bullard introduced by Wroxham at the start of the 2nd half making it 4-0 in the 58th minute would go on to get a 2nd midway through the half to help secure a 5-0 win for Wroxham.

 Royston Town Women another side taking full advantage of others involvement in the Women’s FA Cup to climb up into 4th spot in the ERWFL Premier Division. Just 3 points behind the leaders level on points with 3rd placed Harlow now. Unbeaten in 4 in the league now won comfortably away from home this Sunday taking on AFC Dunstable Women. Just the bare 11 for Dunstable struggling at the bottom of the league Royston have goals in their squad this season notably from Rebecca Vass the new signing scoring 4 against Dunstable to take her to 11 for the season. Emma Slater and Ellie Wilkerson both getting a goal each with first goals of the season too for Angharad Chambers and Georgia Gannaway. An 8-0 win for Royston.

ERWFL Division One North

Four wins and a draw to start the season for newly promoted Cambridge City Ladies Development were leading the way in the ERWFL Division One North as they travelled to AFC Sudbury Ladies at the weekend. The hosts relegated from the ERWFL Premier Division losing their opening 2 league games without a point on the board a new look side this season a young squad. A great start to the match for the hosts though taking the lead in the 15th minute Rebecca Stephenson firing in a great shot from the top of the box taking a nick off a defender to loop up into the top corner. Sudbury going 2-0 up midway through the 1st half, Stephenson to target again striking from a long way out to celebrate her 2nd of the game. Minutes later Sudbury were down to 10 as goalkeeper Amelia Carter was sent of bringing down striker Bella Simmons outside the box. Sudbury lead 2-0 at half-time playing the 2nd half with 10. Battled hard in defence, Cambridge getting it back to 2-1 straight after the restart with Simmons scoring. Sudbury frustrating thier opponents wasn’t to be Cambridge’s day as they failed to find another goal Sudbury getting their first win under their belts.

A local derby elsewhere in the ERWFL Division One North with Suffolk sides East Bergholt United Ladies & Needham Market Women meeting in the league for the 1st time both promoted to the ERWFL this season following a season long battle last season at the top of the Suffolk Women’s Division. Contrasting starts to the season, East Bergholt beginning with 2 straight wins before losing to Cambridge City a third win keeping them 2nd in the table a loss last time out narrowly at home to King’s Lynn. Needham Market Women have played just one league match to date a 3-3 draw against Histon Ladies. Meeting this Sunday the sides enjoying another close game in the end a single goal enough to secure the 3 points the win going to hosts East Bergholt, ex-AFC Sudbury player Megan Partridge on target for her 5th goal of the season since joining the club. East Bergholt moving to within a point of leaders Cambridge City.

A single goal too enough to win the 3 points for Histon Ladies away from home on Sunday taking on Newmarket Town Women in the ERWFL Division One North. A frustrating start to the season for Histon Ladies, just one point won in 3 league games coupled with two cup defeats. Bringing in several new players to bolster the squad over the close season have started to find some form back to back wins in league and cup were looking to make it 3 on the spin away to Newmarket who were keen to get their season going themselves making a good start themselves with a win and a draw. A hard fought win going Histon’s way in the finish the winning goal coming on the hour, Poppy Kelly latching onto Lauren Martin’s through ball to shoot past the keeper. Histon up to 3rd in the table with 7 points on the board.

ERWFL Division One South

Two game played in the ERWFL Division One South this weekend and with the top two not in league action it was a chance for 3rd placed Millwall Lionesses to close the gap as they hosted bottom side Lawford Ladies. The bare 11 for Lawford, Millwall making an unbeaten start to the season with 2 wins and a draw. Millwall getting off to a brilliant start getting themselves into a 4-0 lead inside 15 minutes! Ellie Lunn finding the bottom corner to open the scoring in the 7th minute. Molly Hawkins scoring from close range doubling the lead in the 12th minute. Hawkins with a quick fire double chipping the keeper on the volley to make it 3-0. Shannan Drewe intercepting and firing in a shot across goal bringing up the hosts 4th. Lawford rallying somewhat battling hard at the back. Millwall striking the woodwork. Lawford pulling a goal back in the 34th minute the ball lifted over the keeper. Hawkins though completing her hat-trick to see Millwall leading 5-1 at the break. 

Millwall slow out of the blocks 2nd half, Lawford pulling it back to 5-2 scoring from a corner. 10 minutes into the 2nd period and Millwall themselves were back amongst the goals Ruby Snowden firing into the top corner to make it 6-2. A 7th goal brought up on the hour with Samantha Middleton getting on the scoresheet with the finish. An 8th goal soon following Drewe rifling home for her 2nd of the match. Lawford not giving up by any stretch getting on the scoresheet for a third goal themselves bringing it back to 8-3. Drewe seeing her shot saved new signing Hannah Cheeseman chasing in on the follow up sending the ball over the line for her first goal for the club. Snowden getting her 2nd goal of the match to see Millwall reach double figures with 15 minutes left. A 10-3 win seeing Millwall move level on 10 points with 2nd placed Stevenage FC Women Development.

Elsewhere in ERWFL Division One South newly promoted Leigh Ramblers Ladies young guns were at home to Wodson Park Ladies. A win and a loss for Leigh Ramblers so far from 2 league games played. Wodson Park yet to win a point frustrated at the start of their season. Leigh Ramblers bringing in Georgia Holdaway this season, amongst the goals last season playing for Brentwood was on target again this weekend for her 3rd goal since joining the club. Emily Diwell also on target getting her third goal of the campaign to see Leigh Ramblers win the match 2-0 to move clear in 4th place in the table.

ERWFL League Cup

Postponed from a fortnight ago ERWFL Division One South leaders Hutton Ladies were away to Norfolk side King’s Lynn Town Ladies in the ERWFL Cup group stage this weekend. The Essex side with a 100% success rate so far in league and cup matches to start the season and scoring plenty of goals in the process, a strong start for Hutton, King’s Lynn making an indifferent start doing well to keep their opponents for scoring this weekend for the first time this season Hutton drawing a blank in front of goal. King’s Lynn going on to win the match 3-0. Captain Becky Russell scoring twice to move onto 5 goals for the season with attacker Oksana Imanalijeva scoring her first goal of the season.

Women’s FA Cup

A place in the 1st Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup this Sunday with 24 ties taking place across the country. 8 of those ties involving clubs playing in the East. Plenty of action to cover and goals scored.

It was to one of these ties Women’s Football east headed to at the weekend an all FAWNL South East Division One clash to watch Cambridge City Ladies at home playing AFC Basildon Women. The Essex side travelling in good form with 3 successive victories under their belts. A fast start to the match Basildon on the offensive however it was Cambridge who would open the scoring inside the opening 3 minutes, a fluid move from back to front carving their opponents open Charlotte Gillies receiving the ball wide right playing it central to pitch out the run of Laura Mills opening up her body top of the area to place the ball wide of the advancing keeper. Basildon responding well pushing players forwards putting the Cambridge defence under huge pressure forcing errors straight back on level terms the ball played straight to Poppy Binding 20 yards out right side smashed in make it 1-1. Basildon racing into a 3-1 lead within 10 minutes being played, Holly Turner crossing across the face of goal for Binding to tap in her 2nd at the far post then Turner herself running at goal under challenge inside the box firing in a goal.

 A frantic start to the match there was no let up in the action Basildon playing well piling players forwards the Cambridge defence busy. Chances created Cambridge doing well to get it back to 3-2 Charlotte Gillies on the right winning the ball racing with it into the Basildon box shooting at the near post the ball slipping through the keepers fingers into the back of the net. Basildon restoring their 2 goal lead before half-time, Binding with a composed finish completing her hat-trick as the ball was delivered across the face of goal.

Cambridge starting the 2nd half well receiving a further blow as Basildon went 5-2 ahead early in the 2nd half, Kelly Wealthall heading in from close range off a corner. Another corner seeing Basildon get into a 6-2 lead, Turner up high to head the ball smashing down off the crossbar Wealthall there to turn it back in for her 2nd of the match. A third goal conceded from a set-piece as Gemma Abela lifted a well taken free-kick up over the keeper and under the bar to make it 7-2. Cambridge getting a goal back late on substitute Karly Tolentino played in by Mills to fire a shot from the left in across the keeper. Basildon safely through to the 1st Round Proper.

East Midlands Regional Premier Division side Peterborough United Ladies had knocked out higher league opposition in the previous round of the Women’s FA Cup winning away to FAWNL South East Division One side Stevenage FC Women. Their reward in 3rd Round Qualifying a home draw against another FAWNL side, Midlands Division One team, The New Saints Ladies. Peterborough starting the match well on the attack opening the scoring inside the opening 15 minutes striker Keir Perkins with the close range finish to make it 1-0. The New Saints coming back to level the scores Laura Pennington scoring from a corner. 1-1 at the break. Peterborough continuing to create chances the game entering the final 20 minutes the visitors taking the lead, Kimberly Bebbington with the coll finish to make it 2-1. Peterborough coming back to level the scores themselves the game into the final 10 minutes Donna McGuigan firing home. The New Saints getting on the attack finding the winning goal with 5 minutes left to play Bebbington on target to score her 2nd of the game to see the tie won 3-2.

Actonians Ladies were at home in 3rd Round Qualifying of the Women’s FA Cup the FAWNL South East Division One side hosting, Fulham FC Foundation Ladies. The visitors playing in the London & South East Regional Premier Division taking the lead Lauren Peck putting Fulham in front from a free-kick. Actonians coming back to level the scores with 22 minutes left, last seasons top scorer, Alessandra Barreca scoring her 4th goal of the season. Barreca scoring again with 15 minutes left to play to put Actonians into the lead completing a hat-trick inside the final 10 minutes to put her side into the draw for the 1st Round Proper.

Leyton Orient WFC  from the FAWNL South East Division One were also taking on London & South East Regional Premier Division opposition in 3rd Round Qualifying making the trip to play Queens Park Rangers. The lower league hosts making a 100% winning start to their league season taking the lead in the 6th minute, Amelia Cutler with the goal to put them 1-0 up. Leyton Orient getting back on level terms with Ellie Stenning getting the goal to make it 1-1 midway through the first half. All square at the break the winning goal coming just past the hour going the way of the visitors, Otesha Charles prolific in front of goal at the start of the season scoring her 14th goal of the campaign to see Leyton Orient advance in the Women’s FA Cup.

Lower league opposition two for FAWNL South East Division One leaders, Billericay Town Ladies a local derby too away to Harlow Town Ladies, making a strong start to the ERWFL Premier Division. Harlow in great form with goals in their side, taking the lead Becky Shephard racing in from the left in on goal shooting the ball gloves away by the keeper, Beth Chambers racing in on the follow up there first to send the ball over the line. Billericay coming back to level before half time attacking right the ball crossed in near post Zoe Rushen sliding on to score from close range. 1-1, Harlow doing well, Billericay finding the all important winning goal from a corner the delivery long to the far post, defender Laken Ducher-Clark bundling the ball over the line to score her first goal of the season and sent Billericay into the 1st Round Proper. 

At least on Regional league side were guaranteed a place in the 1st Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup with Bowers & Pitsea Ladies of the ERWFL Premier Division already making history in the competition hosting fellow league side, Luton Town Ladies. Bowers & Pitsea holding Luton to a goalless draw at the break the visitors breaking the deadlock 2nd half. Jess McKay finding the top corner from a Zara Carroll free-kick. Luton yet to concede in the competition making sure of a clean sheet at the other end going on to double their lead McKay with a superb finish scoring her 2nd of the match. Rebecca Wilson-Kane adding a 3rd goal for Luton to see them advance in the competition.

The final two 3rd Round Qualifying ties in the Women’s FA Cup all FAWNL South East Division One affairs. Another East Anglian derby, saw Ipswich Town Women in good form riding high at the top of the league hosting Norwich City Women. Another high attendance a fantastic crowd of over 650 their to watch the game. Ipswich dominant right from the off taking the lead inside 3 minutes Anna Grey firing a shot into the top corner to score her first senior goal for the club. The lead doubled inside the opening 15 minutes, Grey with the assist crossing for Natasha Thomas to score her 5th goal of the season. Thomas making it 3-0 to Ipswich 10 minutes later. Ipswich creating further chances awarded a penalty in the 38th minute, Paige Peak hitting the post able to bury the rebound to see the hosts lead 4-0 at half-time. Aimee Durrant pulling a goal back for Norwich early in the 2nd half. Ipswich comfortable soon getting back into a 4 goal lead Sophie Peskett on the follow up at the back post latching onto the spilt ball to score. Maddie Biggs wrapping up a 6-1 win for Ipswich in the final minute of the game.

Enfield Town Ladies were hosting fellow league side AFC Wimbledon Ladies on the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday a strong start to the season for both Wimbledon unbeaten in the league taking the lead midway through the first half Sophie Manzi on target for her 4th goal of the campaign. Enfield coming back to level 10 minutes later with new signing Beth Lumsden scoring her 8th goal since joining at the start of the season. All square at the break I was keeping up with things on twitter as best I could and it looked like the game was going to head into extra-time only for Wimbledon to come up with a late winner Manzi striking for her 2nd of the game to win it 2-1 for Wimbledon in the dying seconds.

FAWNL Southern Premier Division

Crawley Wasps Ladies return to the top of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division scoring 2 goals late on their match on Sunday away to Milton Keynes Dons Women to win the 3 points. Late goals the theme of the week for Crawley both fore and against. A point collected in midweek as they took on Gillingham Ladies at home on Wednesday evening. Natasha Stephens seeing Crawley take the lead 10 minutes into the 2nd half lat drama saw 2 more goals come in the final moments of the game. Ellie Jeffkins getting Gillingham back on level terms in the 88th minute. Back came Crawley to retake the lead a minute later with captain Naomi Cole on target. Grace Harrison lobbing the keeper in stoppage time to see Gillingham take a point home with them.

  This Sunday Crawley Wasps headed to the Stadium MK. Milton Keynes having made a promising start to the season, falling down the table in a rut of poor results just one point won from their last 6 league matches. Have yet to win at home this season either. A first half that saw few chances the sides goalless at the break. Both coming on 2nd half coming close with shots Crawley hitting the crossbar from a corner with 87 minutes on the clock the visitors breaking the deadlock in the 89th minute. A superb strike from Hope Nash her first goal of the season firing Crawley into the lead. A free-kick won outside the box in stoppage time dispatched clinically by Rachel Palmer to secure the win for Crawley and see them back leading the table having set the early pace.

Cardiff City Ladies climb a place up to 4th in the Southern Premier Division table, getting back to winning ways  at home to Hounslow Women. Cardiff with a strong first half winning the game 6-1 to close the gap on the leaders. Grace Horrell scoring a brace, so too Nadia Lawrence scoring her first goals of the season. A first goal of the season too for Morgan Rogers. Kelly Issac also getting on the scoresheet with a goal for Cardiff. Hounslow improving 2nd half getting a goal through Sue Kumaning her first for the club. Other results going against them Hounslow slip to the foot of the table.

  That result being the clash between fellow strugglers Keynsham Town Ladies at home to Chichester City Ladies on Sunday. Keynsham bottom of the table without a point on the board after 6 played a tough start to the season following promotion as South West Division One champions last season. Chichester now faring much better having lost several players have just one point so far from 7 played. Sharna Capel Watson scoring her first goal for Chichester seeing them drawing with Keynsham 1-1 at the break. Ellie Curson getting on the scoresheet for Keynsham midway through the first half. The winning goal coming in the 70th minute, Curson striking with her 2nd of the match to see Keynsham win for the first time this season 2-1 the 3 points taking the off the bottom above both Hounslow and Chichester.

One more game played in the Southern Premier Division this Sunday although full time has it listed as postponed Oxford United Women were at home taking on Gillingham Ladies. Both with good results in midweek, 27 goals in 3 games now for Oxford including 5 without reply away to Milton Keynes on Wednesday. Gillingham with two late goals away to Crawley taking home a point. This Sunday Oxford dominating the chances in the first half were held to a 0-0 scoreline by Gillingham. The visitors taking the lead themselves 4 minutes into the 2nd half scoring from a 30 yard free-kick which looped over the keeper. Oxford pressing looking for a reply fell further behind just past the hour, Gillingham’s forward brought down inside the box, going 2-0 up from the resulting spot kick. Oxford creating more opportunities couldn’t find a goal, the woodwork struck won a penalty themselves at the death reducing the arrears Gillingham held on to win 2-1 to make it 4 points from the past 7 days.

FAWNL South East Division One

One league game played this Sunday in FAWNL South East Division One, an opportunity for Stevenage FC Women to pull away from the bottom sides as they played host to bottom side Kent Football United. Stevenage looking to build on last weekends great 3-2 cup win away to league leaders Ipswich Town Women. The hosts scoring 3 goals in the first half as Kent wasted opportunities in front of goal. 3-1 the half-time score with captain Amy Makewell on target and first goals for Lucy Webster and Chloe Gunn returning after a long injury lay off. Erin Pope scoring from a free-kick against Ipswich to win the match last time out, her first goal of the season scored for the 2nd successive game another set-piece strike to make it 2-1. Amy Makewell on the scoresheet again for her 10th goal of the season to see Stevenage in full control leading 5-1 with all the goals coming from outside the box. Kent Football United pulling a goal back to make it 5-2 are still bottom and without a point on the board after 6 played. Stevenage with their 3rd league win of the season up to 7th in the table.

FAWNL Plate

One cup tie played this Sunday from the 1st Round of the FAWNL Plate, and all Division One clash with South East side, Cambridge United WFC hosting South West counterparts, Maidenhead United Women. The visitors with an early goal to open the scoring Simone O’Brien scoring from a free-kick in the 6th minute. That the score heading into half-time. Maidenhead battling hard defensively to prevent Cambridge finding a reply keeping a clean sheet to win the game and advance to the next round of the competition.

Newly promoted Haverhill Rovers Ladies continuing their excellent form in the new look Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership top of the table made it 4 wins from 4 so far this season at home to Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds on Sunday, A brace each for Joeli Kirby and top scorer Kayleigh Nolan now on 6 for the season plus a first goal of the season for Amy Evans securing a 5-0 victory. 

  Hot on their heels climbing a place into 2nd in the premiership table are another newly promoted side, Leverington Sports Ladies. Having begun the season with a win lost their 2nd league game at home to Haverhill a narrow 3-2 defeat. Leverington bouncing back well winning 3 on the bounce in league and cup to climb the table. Back to back league wins coming away to Riverside Ladies at the weekend. Sophie Swinden top scorer for Wisbech Town as they were last season continuing her fine goal scoring form in Leverington colours scoring all the goals in the visitors 4-1 win to take her into double figures for the season from just 5 played. Kerry Camwell getting the goal for Riverside her first of the season. 

Cambridge University Women late to the party as always in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership got their league campaign underway this Sunday at home taking on bottom side Histon Ladies Reserves. Last season’s League Cup finalists hitting the ground running scoring 8 goals against their opponents to get 3 points on the board early on move them straight up to 9th in the table. The final score 8-2 with Anneka DeAth and Annalisa Player scoring for Histon. A 13 strong league just one side has played 5 games so far plenty of twists and turns to come.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship

 15 sides competing in the new look single  Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship. Cambridge Rangers Women continue to set the early pace 5 wins from 5 now to lead the table by 5 points. At home taking on Swavesey Spartans Ladies the league leaders coming out on top in a physical match to win by 4 goals to 2 to keep up their winning start. Daniella Lewis, top scoring for Cambridge Rangers netting a brace has 9 for the season now. Claire Kyndt and Lauren Lock also getting on the scoresheet with a goal a piece. Holly Buck and Stacy Askew with the goals in each half for Swavesey Spartans.

  Having started the season with a heavy 8-0 defeat at home to current leaders Cambridge Rangers Women. new side Mildenhall Town Ladies have responded fantastically, drawing their next game have now gone on to win 3 on the bounce a run that sees them climb up into 2nd spot in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship. Were at home to fellow newcomers Eaton Socon Ladies this Sunday. A goal from Georgia-Louise Dargan just past the half hour seeing Mildenhall take the lead, Katie Haynes adding a 2nd goal 4 minutes before half-time. Jasmine Luckett putting the hosts into a 3-0 lead early in the 2nd half. Haynes with her 2nd of the match sealing a 4-0 win 15 minutes from time.

Another new side showing good form are Cambourne United Women. 3 wins on the spin now in the league after suffering two heavy defeats in their opening games. Moving up the Championship table into 5th position. Were at home to Isleham United Ladies this Sunday. A 3 win in a row coming courtesy of goals in each half from Emily Arnold her 5th of the season and Helen Calder-Hall to secure a 2-0 result.

Almost a month since they were last in competitive action Burwell Tigers Ladies having started the season well with back to back wins were at home to Hungate Rovers Ladies this Sunday who themselves were without a point on the board after 3 played. A first goal of the season from Jessica Krauss securing Hungate Rovers first point of the season as they drew 1-1 with Burwell Tigers.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

One League Cup tie played this Sunday the postponed fixture between Championship sides Pinchbeck United Ladies and Deeping United Ladies. Pinchbeck at home have made an excellent start to the season winning 3 out of three neck and neck with Cambridge Rangers early on but postponements have seen them out of competitive action for almost a month has done nothing to dampen that form a strong first half performance seeing them leading the match 7-1. Deeping United would rally in the 2nd half scoring a 2nd goal, Pinchbeck safely through adding a further 2 goals to win 9-2. Freya Peters and Courtney Walker both scoring a hat-trick. Victoria Bradford on target for a brace her first goals for the season. with Rebecca Navarrette also getting on the scoresheet with a goal.

Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup

County Cup action for the majority across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire this weekend. We’ll begin with the Bedfordshire Women’s competition reaching the 2nd Round stage 3 ties scheduled to see who would be joining the seeded teams in the quarter finals. In the end one game played, Langford Ladies leading Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two receiving a home win. The game between Bedford Ladies Development & Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses listed as cancelled at the moment. That left one game to be played and a tasty looking contested too between AFC Dunstable Women Blues & AFC  Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. Both promoted to Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two this season where both with fancy their chances of making it a 2nd successive promotion. Meeting in the County Cup this weekend Dunstable at home fell behind in the 15th minute, hit back straight away to level the scores top scorer Bianca Vassell making it 1-1. Kempston retaking the lead in the 23rd minute quickly added a 3rd goal. Vassell with her 14th goal of the season pulling it back to 3-2 in the final minute of the first half. Kempston’s turn for an immediate reply scoring a 4th goal to lead 4-2 at half-time. A the goals reserved for the 1st half neither side finding the back of their opponents net for a goal 2nd half Kempston booking their spot in the quarter finals. Bex Cray scoring a brace with goals too for Charlie Mullins and Hannah Humphries scoring her first goal of the season.

A busy Sunday for the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup with 11 ties scheduled to be played in the 1st Round of the competition. In the end 5 of these saw one side progress without kicking a ball. Wodson Park Ladies, Herts Vipers Women, Garston Ladies Vintage Purples, Letchworth Garden City Eagles & Garston Ladies 1st all going through to the 2nd Round. Plenty of goals scored in the 6 remaining ties with some big wins for the higher league placed sides.

 The biggest league gap saw Colney Heath Ladies 2nd in the ERWFL Premier Division at home to Harvesters Ladies currently 2nd in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three. Colney Heath finding their form in recent weeks too. Striker Rianne Townsend-Brown doubling her goal tally for the season top scoring in the match with 4 goals. Captain Sheree Oliver doing the same scoring a hat-trick. Top scorer Samaira Khan with a goal to take her into double figures their were goals too for Adrienne Milton & Charlene Moreton with Annie Hickey getting her first goal of the season and full back Eustacia Randles scoring for the 2nd successive game. Colney Heath running out 12-1 winners, Eleanor Keating with the goal for Harvesters.

A huge win in the Challenge Cup to away for Stevenage FC Women Development against Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two side Wheathampstead Wanderers Ladies. Emily Schofield top scoring in the game netting 5 goals for Stevenage. Hannah Marshall one behind celebrating 4 goals. A brace each for Sofia Carpenter, Katherine Taylor and Sherrie Evans. Melody Jones, Danielle Ranson and Amy Notschild with her first goal of the season seeing Stevenage run out 18-0 winners.

Beds & Herts Division One side were hosting Watford Ladies Development U19s in the 1st Round of the competition. Watford’s Development side former Challenge Cup winners their young side starting strong racing into a 3-0 lead within the opening 17 minutes. Rebecca Day pulling a goal back for Hitchin Town on the half hour the visitors 3-1 up at the break going on to score a 4th goal in the 2nd period to advance in the cup.

An all Beds & Herts Division One clash saw Hitchin Belles taking on Hartham United Ladies in the 1st Round of the Challenge Cup. Goals from Ellie Burke and Janiece Allen securing a 2-0 lead for Hartham United at half-time. The visitors getting themselves into a 3-0 lead with Georgia Quinton scoring from a 35 yard free-kick. Hitchin Belles creating chances unlucky not to score a goal seeing the woodwork struck twice. Hartham United finding a 4th goal with Sophie Mandel scoring from a corner to see them safely through to the 2nd Round.

Evergreen Ladies without a point on the board at the start of the season in Beds & Herts Division Two were at home to fellow league side Watton Ladies in the 1st Round of the Hertfordshire Women’s Challenge Cup this weekend. A close match between the sides it was Evergreen who were at last celebrating a win to progress in the competition. Goals from Rebecca Freeman and Gemma Arnett enough to secure the hosts a 2-1 victory. Emma Carter on the scoresheet for Watton.

Sherrardswood Ladies playing in Beds & Herts Division Two were at home to Division Three side Bedwell Rangers Ladies in the Challenge Cup 1st Round. Bedwell Rangers finding a bit of form at the start of the season Sherrardswood taking the lead on the 20th minute from a corner Julie Briars heading in her first goal of the season. A narrow lead at half-time the hosts going 2-0 up 10 minutes into the 2nd period Laurie Marris often amongst the goals for Sherrardswood getting off the mark with her first goal of the season from another corner. Bedwell Rangers captain Georgia Miller pulling it back to 2-1. A quick fire brace from Manjinder Atwal put Sherrardswood 4-1 up a late goal from Kally-Ann Westgarth on her first start for the club sealing a 5-1 victory.

Essex Women’s County Cup

A busy Sunday across the county with 8 ties being played in the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup. Contrasting scoreline with some huge wins plenty of goals scored throughout one tie going all the way to a penalty shootout.

The biggest win of the round going to Hutton Ladies the ERWFL Division One South side reaching the semi-finals of the competition last season away to Essex Women’s Division One high flyers, Aveley Ladies. Hutton top of their league are a side with plenty of goals in them at the best of times, Vicky Kinsman a potent threat in front of goal since joining the club was on target for 4 goals herself at the weekend. 4 goals too for captain Abigail Fry. Lauren Knight scoring a brace. A brace also for Hayley Critchell her first goals of the season. Hutton winning the game 15-1 their were also first goals for the season for Kelly Roberts, Rianne Dimmock and Hannah Page. Aveley captain Holly Wright scoring the hosts goal.

  Chelmsford City Ladies 3rd in the Essex Women’s Premier Division were at home in the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup taking on newcomers Bowers & Pitsea Ladies Development. The Division One side 1-0 with just 6 minutes played Georgia James putting Chelmsford into the lead. The Premier Division side adding a 2nd goal late in the half to lead 2-0 at the break with Molly Butcher on target. Chelmsford going further ahead 6 minutes into the 2nd half comfortable a 4th goal coming with 10 minutes left to play, Shannon Kelly and James with her 2nd of the match the scorers. Bowers & Pitsea getting a goal back with 3 minutes left to play an screamer from the half way line by Grace Tebb-Reading. Chelmsford winning 4-1.

Finding some form in the Essex Women’s Premier Division, Southend United Ladies were away to Division One side, Hutton Ladies Reserves in the 2nd Round of the County Cup this weekend. Lily Halliday opening the scoring for Southend on her birthday making it 1-0 from a well flighted 25 yard free-kick. Ellie Wood played through on goal to score and see Southend into a 2-0 lead at half-time. The visitors adding to their lead 2nd half, Ebony Baker scoring her first of the season. Wood then made it 4-0 from the penalty spot. Ria Toovey making it 5-0. Wood completing her hat-trick to make it 8 goals for the season and see Southend safely progress with a 6-0 victory.

 Billericay Town Ladies Development also beginning to find their feet in the Essex Women’s Premier Division were looking to make it back to back wins for the first time this season as they travelled to played Division One side Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves in the County Cup. 4 goals for Sophie Nyiro sending her to the top of the goal scoring chart helping to secure Billericay a place in the 3rd Round, Lisa Robins also getting her 5th goal of the season to seal a 5-1 win.

 An all Essex Women’s Premier Division tie in the 2nd Round of the County Cup saw Collier Row Tigers 2nd in the league at home to newly promoted Rayleigh Town Ladies. Both sides can score plenty of goals on their day. This Sunday belonged to Collier Row Tigers. Laura Bunton rarely goes for long without a mention in the Round-Up and was amongst the goals once again for Collier Row Tigers netting a hat-trick to take her to 19 goals now from just 6 played. Emma Harrison scoring a brace moves onto 5 for the season. There were goals too for Helen Moreira, Mia Cooman and Ammarah Ali in an 8-1 win. Amy Cox getting the goal for Rayleigh Town.

Premier Division leaders Silver End United Ladies were drawn away to Holland Ladies in the 2nd Round of the County Cup, Holland entering the Suffolk Women’s Division picking up some good results early on. Silver End unbeaten in the league with 5 wins from 6 played starting the season well. A close game the sides drawing 2-2 with five minutes left to play Silver End scoring a 3rd and winning goal to book their spot in the 3rd Round of the competition. A brace for Rosi Webb six goals for the season now since joining Silver End plus a goal for Helen Alder.

Premier Division side Frontiers Ladies hosting last season’s league champions Leigh Ramblers Ladies in the County Cup this weekend. Leigh Ramblers stepping up to the ERWFL this season. Nothing to separate the sides at 90 minutes drawing 1-1, Calley Melville-Taylor scoring her first goal for Frontiers the game going to extra-time. Neither side able to find a winning goal the tie to be settled on penalties. Leigh Ramblers coming out on top to progress clinching a 3-2 win in the shootout.

 Also meeting in the 2nd Round of the County Cup were Billericay Town Ladies Reserves at home to AFC Basildon Women Development both playing in the FAWNL Reserve South East Division this season. A hat-trick for Amy Jacobs helping to secure a 3-1 victory for Basildon to see them advance in the competition taking her tally to 8 for the season since joining the club. Ellie Nicholls on the scoresheet for Billericay.

Losing their opening two league games Tigers have since gone on to take 7 points from their last 3 games making it back to back wins this weekend to consolidate themselves in mid-table joining 4th placed Leigh Ramblers Ladies Reserves on 7 points. A single goal enough to secure the 3 points Tigers winning 1-0.

Needham Market Women Reserves and Brettvale Ladies remain neck and neck at the top of the Suffolk Women’s Division bot keeping up their 100% winning starts 6 from 6 now at the start of the season Needham Market ahead with a superior goal difference, two sides right behind Bury Town Women and Alresford Colne Rangers 3rd and 4th both on 15 points now well placed should either of the leading pair slip up. 6 games played in the Suffolk Women’s Division this Sunday and once again there were plenty of goals scored. 

Needham Market Women Reserves on the road taking on AFC Kesgrave Ladies this Sunday. Lois Balfour’s devastating form in front of goal continues 27 goals for the season now from just 6 games played hit another five into the back of the net at the weekend. Abbie Wilkerson also on target to score her 7th goal of the season. 6 goals for Needham Market they didn’t have it all their own way with AFC Kesgrave breaching their defence for 3 goals themselves with Abigail Eley, Sophie Maul and Chloe York all on the scoresheet in a 6-3 loss.

 Brettvale Ladies also on their travels this weekend taking on Woodbridge Town Ladies in mid-table. Jenna Liverpool on target to score her 8th goal of the season for Woodbridge with Madison Tribley striking in her first of the season. Brettvale though coming home with the 3 points scoring twice as many at the other end to win 4-2. Amie Chippendale and Abbie Fisher both getting their 4th goals of the campaign with two more netting their first of the season, Kirstie Turner and Amy Doyle.

  Having started the season well 4 wins from 4 Bury Town Women suffered their first league loss of the season a fortnight ago at home to another newly formed side, Holland Ladies. Bury bouncing back well to win in the League Cup last weekend were back in league action this Sunday away to Leiston St Margarets Ladies who themselves had only picked up 1 point from their last 4. Despite a first goal of the season from Thalia Cloke for Leiston St Margarets the hosts conceded 3 as Bury Town stay 3rd winning 3-1.

Alresford Colne Rangers keep the pressure on the top three sides a 5th win of the season this weekend keeping them on 15 points in 4th with Bury Town Women 3 behind the leading pair. Were also on the road this weekend taking on Chantry Grasshoppers Ladies. The hosts still in search of their first point of the season again struggling with injuries fielding just the bare 11. Bernice Corney getting no the scoresheet with her first goal of the season for Chantry Grasshoppers, a brace from Rae Clancy taking her to 4 for the season along with a 3rd goal of the season for Laura Abbott securing a 3-1 victory for Alresford.

Elsewhere in the Suffolk Women’s Division their were double figure wins for both Brightlingsea Regent Ladies and Brantham Athletic Ladies. Brightlingsea climbing up to 6th spot in the table as they win for the 3rd time this season were on the road taking on bottom side University of Suffolk Women who struggling for numbers at the start of the season are suffering heavy defeats. Lucy Tilbury beginning the day with 2 goals to her name opening the scoring going on to claim a hat-trick inside the opening half-hour. A flurry of goals towards the end of the match seeing her add a further 4 goals to Brightlingsea’s tally and put her ahead a top scorer. by a single goal over both Paige Knight and Hannah Goldsmith who both have 8 for the season now, Knight herself scoring a hat-trick with Goldsmith getting a goal in the 36th minute. Georgina Murray scoring her first goal for Brightlingsea the final score 13-0 to the visitors.

  A clean sweep of away wins this Sunday and an even larger winning margin for Brantham Athletic Ladies. Ending a poor run of 4 straight league defeats wracking up the goals this weekend playing Ramsey & Mistley Ladies. Emmi Bennett scoring her first goals for Brantham netting a hat-trick inside the opening 10 minutes adding a 4th on the 16th minute. Brantham in control adding a further 2 goals to lead 6-0 at the break with Becky Prime and Charlotte Archer with her first goal for Brantham on the scoresheet. The goals continuing to flow in the 2nd period, Bennett going on to score a further 2 goals to take her tally to 6. Sophie Crabtree scoring her first goals of the campaign scoring a brace. There was a quick fire hat-trick for Daisy Canny making her Brantham debut. With Prime and Jessica Ryan with her first goal for the club scoring in the final 10 minutes to see Brantham Athletic run out 16-0 winners.

Norfolk Women’s County Cup

 This season’s Women’s County Cup competition began in the county this Sunday with 3 ties played in the 1st Round of the competition. Wymondham Town Ladies winning the cup for a 2nd successive season last year played at Carrow Road for the 1st time in front of a record crowd. 

  Wymondham Town Ladies one of three sides progressing in the 1st Round without playing their opponents withdrawing on the eve of the season starting. Fellow ERWFL side Wroxham Women (previously Acle United Women) and Thorpe United both County Cup winners themselves in recent seasons also progressing.

  It was to one of the three ties played on Sunday that Women’s Football East travelled to a relatively short trip for a change up the road to Clipbush Park to watch Fakenham Town Ladies v Tavern Ladies. Both sides promoted to Norfolk Women’s Division One this season, Fakenham bringing in new players to bolster their squad with 2 wins from their opening 4 games. Tavern making an excellent start matching the leaders winning 4 from 4 to see a three way lead at the top between themselves Bungay Town Ladies and Thorpe United Ladies… at the start of the day read on to see a different picture emerge.

   Tavern starting the game strong pushing player forwards Lucy Kean beating the keeper in the opening minute only to send her shot wide of goal an early let off for Fakenham. Tavern continued to press closing the ball down opening the scoring inside 15 minutes, the ball pressured outside the Fakenham box coming onto Katie Hart-Copsey on the right side smashing a shot in from 20 yards out to make it 1-0. Tavern looking a threat going forwards restricting Fakenham getting forwards Megan Spurrell a threat on the right of attack the hosts getting it back to 1-1 midway through the 1st half, Spurrell holding the ball up on the right tackled the ball latched onto by midfielder Vicki Lubbock to drive forwards and shoot from distance to score. Tavern getting back into the lead quickly Sophie Fuller brought down outside the area in a dangerous position scoring from the resulting free-kick a superb strike to make it 2-1. Kean putting Tavern 3-1 ahead in the 34th minute Hart-Copsey’s cross spilt Kean coming in on the follow up latching onto the ball to prod home.

Tavern Ladies, Atlanta Griffith

Tavern leading 3-1 at the break. Fakenham came out strong at the start of the 2nd half. Tavern though organised at the back throughout. The visitors going further ahead through Atlanta Griffith the ball put into her 30 yards out struck sweetly arching in towards goal past the keeper to make it 4-1 in the 55th minute. A competitive game Tavern winning the physical battle Kean brought down attempting to run through on goal Tavern awarded the free-kick Fuller with another fantastic strike to put them 5-1 in front. A last gasp chance to make it a hat-trick of goals from free-kicks one given inside the D but close in the ball put over the bar. Tavern winning comfortably to progress. The draw for the 2nd Round of the Women’s County Cup due to be made live on twitter at 6pm this Wednesday.

Elsewhere in the Norfolk Women’s County Cup 1st Round in was a much welcomed first win of the season for Taverham United Women. Last season’s Division Two Champions winning the title in the debut season in women’s football away to the current Division Two leaders Stalham Town Ladies who were undefeated going into the match. Taverham finding the form that gained them the title scoring 7 goals against their opponents to advance into the 2nd Round with a 7-1 victory.

  Plenty of goals too in the other 1st Round tie an all Division Two clash with newcomers North Walsham Angels Ladies at home to Horsford Women. A 9 goal thriller between the sides. it was North Walsham who emerged the winners edging out Horsford 5-4 to reach the 2nd Round of the County Cup.

Norfolk Women’s Division One

 Eluded to earlier in the Round-Up a three way tie at the top of Norfolk Women’s Division One is now a 4 way tie with new leaders topping the table on goal difference Sprowston Ladies winning their 4th game of the season going top with Bungay Town Ladies & Thorpe United Ladies not playing aswell as Tavern playing in the County Cup 1st Round. Have played two games more narrow losses to both Bungay and Thorpe earlier in the season back to back wins see Sprowston go top playing in the only match in Division One this weekend a Sprowston derby away to Sprowston Athletic Ladies. A strong first half from Sprowston Ladies leading 5-0. Both sides getting on the scoresheet with one goal each 2nd half. Sprowston Ladies winning 6-1. Striker Victoria Leyer on fire at the start of the season scoring 4 times in the match has an incredible 18 goals from 5 played now. Norfolk Women’s Division Two

New leaders too in Norfolk Women’s Division Two with Thorpe United Ladies Reserves going top on goal difference over Stalham Town Ladies who were in County Cup action this weekend. Newly formed this season Thorpe United Ladies Reserves side began with a narrow 2-1 loss to Horsford Women have since gone on to be undefeated with back to back wins and a draw with leaders Stalham Town. A third win of the season coming this Sunday away to Hockering Ladies. The bare 11 for Hockering, Thorpe began strongly, in particular Alice Smith on target for her first goals for Thorpe netting a hat-trick inside the opening 20 minutes. Ellie Hunter making her first start for Thorpe scoring on her debut to make it 4-0. Georgia Dearden pulling a goal back for Hockering her first for the club. As good as it would get for Hockering, Thorpe going further ahead with Chloe Mussel-Pipe scoring to make it 5-1 along with Megan Jay netting her first Thorpe goal on the stroke of half-time. Joanne Hooper scoring for Thorpe midway through the 2nd half the final score 8-1 Emily Warnes on the scoresheet with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Newcomers Mulbarton Belles continue to be ravaged by injuries at the start of the season hampering them, are nevertheless battling on enjoying a positive start to life in Division Two, at home to bottom side Bulldogs Ladies at the weekend who themselves continue to struggle for numbers. The visitors getting themselves into a 1-0 lead at the break made Mulbarton work hard to get back into it the hosts coming back to level the scores winning the game late on 2-1 to win their 3rd game of the season lift them back up to 4th in the Division Two table, Emily Arnall and Ellie Wilson scoring the goals their first for the club.

ERWFL Premier Division

Continues to be very tight on the ERWFL Premier Division, now a 4 way tie at the top on 13 points, with everyone else bunched up behind, all the way down to 10th place St Ives Town Ladies who lay 6 points behind the leading pack. Harlow Town Ladies despite not being in action holding onto top spot on goal difference, Colney Heath Ladies in County Cup action this weekend retaining 2nd spot, joining the pair on 13 points at the top of the table are Luton Town Ladies & Peterborough Northern Star Ladies.  

Luton Town Ladies back up into 3rd place were back in league action for the 1st time in 3 weeks having lost for the first time this season away to current leaders Harlow Town Ladies. At home this Sunday were taking on bottom side Haringey Borough Women. Luton taking the lead inside the opening 2 minutes Funmi Babalola scoring her 4th goal of the season. Haringey holding Luton at bay for another half hour before the hosts doubled their lead Zara Carroll’s shot finding the top corner. Jess McKay making it 3-0 with her 7th goal of the season late in the first period. A 4th goal coming early in the 2nd half Erica Bryon scoring her first goal of the season on 47 minutes would go on to score a hat-trick with two quick fire goals on the hour. a 6-0 the goals flowed then for Luton on top adding a further 5 to win the game 11-0. Babalola going on to complete her hat-trick, Carroll adding a further goal along with a brace for Rebecca Kane.

Peterborough Northern Star Ladies away to AFC Dunstable Women at the weekend like Haringey with just the one point on the board. Peterborough Northern Star undefeated since a narrow loss on the opening day gunning for a 3rd straight win. A brace each for Leah Cudone taking her to 6 goals for the season and last seasons top scorer Katie Steward seeing Peterborough Northern Star head home with the 3 points to put them level amongst the leading pack on 4th spot.

7 points earned from their last 4 league games Bedford Ladies climb up to 7th spot in the ERWFL Premier Division onto 10 points level with 6th placed Royston Town Women albeit having played 3 games more and just 3 points from the leading quartet. Bounced back from last weekend defeat away to Wymondham Town Ladies to win the 3 points at home to Bowers & Pitsea Ladies who find themselves slipping down the table after making an encouraging start to the season. Bowers & Pitsea making a great start taking the lead inside the opening 10 minutes new signing Yasmin Cowley striking for her first goal for the club. Bedford coming back to quickly equalise the initial shot well saved Carissa Kaczorowski there on the follow up to send the ball over the line to make it 1-1. The sides level at half-time Bedford would go on to find the winning goal midway through the 2nd half. Maya Sidhu in plenty of space on the left a through ball finding her taking the ball on to slot into the bottom corner to put Bedford into the lead.

ERWFL Division One North

Cambridge City Ladies Development making a fantastic start to the season following promotion to the ERWFL playing in Division One North 4 wins from for so far, were defending their 100% start at home to Newmarket Town Women this Sunday the visitors with a 100% win record themselves albeit having played just the one league match so far. Newmarket starting well taking the lead on the 17th minute, winning a corner Chloe Slater to put the ball in, Beth Woodfield heading on across goal, Jodie Woodfield nodding in from close range to make it 1-0. Striker Annabel Cuthbert making it 2-0 with her 8th goal of the season. A chance to go 3 up from the penalty spot missed by Cuthbert towards the end of the first period hitting the bar. Cambridge’s defence working hard to keep Newmarket at bay needed a better 2nd half performance. The hosts awarded a penalty on the hour dispatched by Carla Penny to put her joint top scorer on 9 with Bella Simmons making it 2-1. Cambridge pressing for another goal forcing a good save from Newmarket keeper Elli-Rai Quinn Nicholls. The hosts given a 2nd penalty with 20 minutes to go Penny successful from the spot levelling the scores to see Cambridge & Newmarket share the points losing their 100% starts stay undefeated.

Far from the start to the season that King’s Lynn Town Ladies were looking for losing their opening two league matches in ERWFL Division One North postponements halting their season for the past two weekends were finally back in action this Sunday the Norfolk side travelling down into Suffolk to play newly promoted East Bergholt United Ladies who have made a promising start to the season playing at a higher level winning 3 of their opening 4 league games currently 2nd in the table. King’s Lynn beginning the match well dominating early on getting into the lead midway through the first half, striker Tiffany Forshaw firing home her 4th goal of the season. The lead doubled on the stroke of half-time captain Becky Russell driving a shot in, King’s Lynn 2-0 up at half-time. East Bergholt came out battling in the 2nd half looking to get back into the match eventually pulling a goal back in the final quarter hour Katie Bruce on target with her first goal of the season. King’s Lynn holding out to claim their first league points of the season.

Histon Ladies with just a point on the board after 3 played in Division One North were looking for their first league win of the season this Sunday at home taking on AFC Sudbury Ladies. A chance to take an early lead as the hosts were awarded a penalty in the opening couple of minutes. Alison Wright to take scoring off the rebound to make it 1-0. Sydney Graham on target to score her first goal for Histon in the 36th minute seeing them into a 2-0 lead at the break. Histon creating further chances in the 2nd period Graham hitting the bar and Sophie Hopkin seeing a shot pushed onto the post Sudbury pulled it back to 2-1 in the 81st minute with scoring her first goal of the season to set up a nervous finish Histon though celebrating the win at the final whistle.

ERWFL League Cup

One game from the group stage of the ERWFL League Cup played this Sunday postponed from last weekend, in Group C Gorleston Ladies hosting Needham Market Women. Both new to the league. Jason Croft stepping down as Gorleston’s manager this week, oversaw the clubs rise through the leagues gaining two promotions. Player/coach Sophie Gillett stepping up to become manager as the club look to build within the ERWFL. Needham market keen to to make their mark in the ERWFL. A close game scrappy on occasions Gorleston working hard with Needham Market creating opportunities early on the visitors taking the lead in the 11th minute with captain Nicola Henderson’s cross sot finding it’s way over the line. Gorleston proving hard to break down Needham Market without creating too much to trouble Needham market at the other end the hosts having one ruled out for offside, Henderson’s early goal proving the difference.
