FA Women’s Cup – Sunday 4th December

This season’s FA Women’s Cup has reached the 1st Round Proper, when the clubs from the FAWPL Northern and Southern Division’s enter the competition. 28 ties in total 13 of which featured sides represented in the leagues covered by Women’s Football East.

We’ll begin The Round-Up at Selhurst Park, a special day for the players, coaches and fans of Crystal Palace Ladies as they were playing their FA Women’s Cup game at the ground. Taking on Charlton Athletic Women the home fans happy at half-time with their side going down the tunnel into the changing rooms with a 1-0 lead, Alma Donohue scoring the goal with 4 minutes of the 1st half left to play. Charlton came out strongly in the 2nd half and eventually got themselves back on level terms with 11 minutes left to play, the game looked to be heading into extra-time as Crystal Palace defended, Chanel Yardley making a number of saves, a minute left on the clock however Charlton’s Charley Clifford scored the winning goal for the visitors to see them win the game 2-1 and advance to the 2nd Round Proper. 550 in attendance to watch the match.

Acle United Ladies had already made history by reaching the 1st Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup the only side from the ERWFL to do so the Premier Division side faced tough opponents drawn at home against C&K Basildon Ladies playing 2 league higher in the FAWPL Southern Division. A big day for the Norfolk side and by all accounts did themselves proud with a good display at The Wellesey in Great Yarmouth. C&K Basildon Ladies with a narrow lead at half-time, Paige Wakefield scoring from a free-kick from the edge of the box in the 20th minute. Acle United defeded doggedly keeping the scoreline down to 1-0 for much of the 2nd half as C&K Basildon pressed, eventually made the result safe with 5 minutes left on the clock captain Zoe Rushen with the goal to see the Essex side advance to the 2nd Round Proper with a 2-0 win.

Another regional side pushing FAWPL Southern Division hard in the FA Women’s Cup were Leyton Orient WFC from the London & South East Regional Women’s Premier Division. Had a tough away trip in the 1st Round Proper taking on league leaders and unbeaten Tottenham Hotspur Ladies. The score remained 0-0 going into the changing rooms at half-time. Tottenham pushing for a goal eventually getting it with less than 15 minues left to play Wendy Martin heading the ball home to see the FAWPL side into the next round with a 1-0 win.

Chloe Chivers netted a hat-trick at home on Sunday for Cardiff City Ladies as they took on FAWPL South West Division One side, Larkhall Athletic Ladies in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup. The welsh side going on to win the match 6-0 the other 3 goals scored by Gemma Evans, Cori Williams and Chloe Lloyd.

Also into the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup are Coventry United Ladies away on Sunday taking on fellow FAWPL Southern Division side, West Ham United Ladies all the goals coming in the 1st half. Alison Hall putting Coventry into the lead inside 10 minutes, Marie Gaunlett doubled their advantage with Jade Brook netting a 3rd goal to see the visitors lead 3-0, defended it 2nd half to knock West Ham United out of the competition.

Lewes Ladies were at home on Sunday in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup taking on FAWPL South West Division One side, Brislington Ladies. Georgia Bridges scronig for the Southern Division side on the half hour mark to give Lewes the half-time lead. Went on to dominate the 2nd half, Danielle Lane with a brace doubled their lead 8 minutes into the 2nd half adding another goal on 67 minutes to make it 3-0. Kim Stenning scored on 78 minutes to make it 4-0 with Hayley Bridge making the final score 5-0 with a couple of minutes left to play.

Another FAWPL Southern Division side reaching the 2nd Round Proper on Sunday was Portsmouth FC Ladies a potential banana skin with an away trip to play FAWPL South East Division One side Luton Town Ladies. Got off to a good start however taking the lead in the 8th minute Natasha Stephens netting the goal. Took a 2-0 lead into half-time the lead doubled just after the half-hour mark, Samantha Quayle having recently made her switch from Yeovil Town Ladies permanent brought down in the box the visitors awarded a penalty, Sarah Kempson scoring from the spot. Kempson added Portsmouth’s 3rd goal and her 2nd of the match 15 minutes into the 2nd half. Rebecca Bell was introduced from the bench on 75 minutes and scored for Portsmouth on 76 minutes. Nicola Henman scoring a late goal for Luton Town Ladies as they exit the competition with a 4-1 loss.

Better news for FAWPL South East Division One sides elsewhere in the competition. League leaders, Cambridge United WFC were at home at Mildenhall Town FC in the 1st Round Proper playing FAWPL Southern Division side Queens Park Rangers Ladies bottom of the league the potential for an upset. Cambridge started the match strongly pushing players forwards creating chances without finding the clinical final touch. With much of the attack it eventually told as they took the lead on 34 minutes, Becky Taylor (pictured) latching onto a ball cleared from the six yard box to send it back over the keeper and down off the crossbar into the back of the net. The lead lasted just 5 minutes, QPR having had little action up the other end scoring with their 1st shot on target the ball rolled across the face of the area send home by Jess Traharne to see the sides go into the changing rooms level at the break.

A little more even in the 2nd half as Cambridge attacked up the sloping pitch, continued to create the majority of the opportunities in attack but unable to find a goal in the regular 45 minutes the match looked like it would be heading into extra-time then in injury time Nicole Perschky got hold of a loose QPR ball in the middle and sent it out to Laura Mills on the right, driving forwards pulled the trigger from 20 yard out sending her strike into the back of the net giving Cambridge the lead. Moments later with QPR pressing players forwards Ashleigh Deacon getting ball for Cambridge sent it up into the area, Taylor after it taking it away from the advancing keep and lifting the ball into the empty net beyond to see Cambridge United reach the 2nd Round Proper with a 3-1 win. Cambridge United WFC 3-1 Queens Park Rangers Ladies

A trip to the South Coast for Gillingham FC Ladies the FAWPL South East Division One side taking on South West Division One side, Southampton Saints Girls & Ladies who they had beaten 4-0 previously in the FAWPL Cup earlier in the season. Cam away with another win to advance to the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup, Felicity Gibbons bagging herself 4 goals. Charlotte Gurr returning to the club getting a brace with another player back at the club, Jay Blackie scoring to see Gillingham win the game 7-1. Rebecca Bath with the Southampton goal in the 2nd half.

Miton Keynes Dons Ladies are also into the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup after a 3-1 win over London & South East Premier Division side Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies. A brace from Heather McDonnell and a Hannah Barrett goal seeing them into the next round.

Was an all FAWPL South East Division One tie in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Women’s Cup with AFC Wimbledon Ladies travelling up to Norfolk to play Norwich City Ladies. The home side taking the lead midway through the 1st half, Chelsea Garrett scoring the goal to put Norwich in front. Georgia Heasman score with 6 minutes left in the 1st half to level things up at half-time for Wimbledon. Laura Low netting inside 2 minutes of the 2nd half starting to put Wimbledon into the lead. Emma Kirby extending the lead to 3-1 with 20 minutes left to play. The result put beyond doubt in injury time captain Jess Trimnell with the goal to see Wimbledon into the 2nd Round Proper with a 4-1 victory.

The match between Southampton Women FC and Swindon Town Ladies was a late call off, will be played this coming Sunday.

FAWPL South East Division One

With the FAWPL Southern Division clubs entering the FA Women’s Cup at this Sunday’s 1st Round Proper stage plus 6 clubs from South East Division One there was a very limited league fixture list with just the 2 games being played in FAWPL South East Division One on Sunday.

Stevenage Ladies bottom of the table travelled to the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium on Sunday to play Enfield Town Ladies picked up their 3rd point of the season in a goalless draw to move level on points with Lowestoft Town Ladies and Norwich City Ladies. Above them there is a 9 point gap with Enfield Town moving onto 12 points in 9th.

In the other game in South East Division One, Denham United Ladies move up a place into 7th after beating 4th placed Actonians Ladies at home on Sunday. A brace from Lauren Cox (pictured) plus a goal each for Helen Capewell and Jenny Banfield seeing them win the game 4-2 to take the 3 points. Alessandra Barrera and Carla Williams with the goals for Actonians Ladies.

Norfolk Women’s County Cup

4 ties in the 2nd Round of the Norfolk Women’s County Cup 2nd Round fell foul of the weather last weekend. 3 of those were played this Sunday. Kings Lynn Town Ladies playing their 1st ever competitive match at The Walks home of Kings Lynn Tow FC. Were hosting fellow Norfolk Women’s Division One side who they had already beaten twice in the league. Made it 3 wins with a comfortable scoreline. Captain Shelley Woods scoring 4 goals. A brace too for Elle Bocking with Becky Russell and Taylor Sarchet also getting a goal to their names in an 8-0 win will face Acle United Ladies in the quarter finals.

Bohemians Ladies from Norfolk Women’s Division Two will be at home in the quarter finals taking on County Cup holders Thorpe United Ladies after they over came Division Three side Freethorpe Ladies on Sunday edging the result 2-1 to progress. Claire Garner with the goal for Freethorpe Ladies.

An all Division Two tie in the other 2nd Round game played at the weekend with Briston Wanderers Ladies travelling to play Sprowston Ladies. A good result for Briston Wanderers winning the match 5-2 to reach the quarter finals where they will be at home to either Long Stratton Ladies or Aylsham FC Ladies who face each other this Sunday.

Norfolk Women’s Division Two

One league match taking place in Norfolk this Sunday from Division Two with leaders Gorleston FC Ladies opening up a massive 9 point gap at the top winning for the 7th game in a row to maintain a 100% winning start to the season. Had lost out away to Stalham Town Ladies on penalties in the 2nd Round of the Norfolk Women’s County Cup last Sunday. At home this Sunday at Emerald Park won the game 4-2 with Bethany Turner scoring a hat-trick, Kayleigh Byrne with their other goal.

Suffolk Women’s County Cup

Two quarter final ties to be decided in the Suffolk Women’s County Cup this Sunday. Lowestoft Town Ladies game postponed due to them being involved in FA Women’s Cup action last Sunday eventually going out to fellow FAWPL South East Division One side, Norwich City Ladies. Were to play extra-time for the 2nd cup game in a row this Sunday, Norfolk Division One side Bungay Town Ladies the visitors to Crown Meadow the result tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes, Lowestoft Town’s fitness telling in the extra half hour as they went on to win the game 4-2 will now played Suffolk Women’s Division side Bacton United Ladies in the semi-finals. Gemma Moore with 2 goals for Lowestoft with captain Hannah Waters and Aimee Durrant also scoring.

In the other quarter final tie to be played Suffolk Women’s Division leaders, Walsham Le Willows Ladies were at home playing ERWFL Division One side, Ipswich Wanderers Ladies the visitors setting up a show down in the semi-finals with holders Ipswich Town Laides winning the game 3-0 with 2 goals from Tarnya McKew and a goal for Michelle Taylor-Allum.

Suffolk Women’s Division

Two games in the Suffolk Women’s Division on Sunday and with Walsham Le Willows in County Cup action 2nd placed Ipswich Town Ladies Development level on points with Walsham Le Willows, moved 3 points clear at the top winning away from home against East Bergholt United. Their goalscorers, Florence Cage, Sian Cottrell, Jennifer Purbrook and Emily Steward seeing them win the match 4-1. Jessica Oxlade on target for East Bergholt United.

Remember Copleston Ladies? they were finally back in league action on Sunday playing just their 3rd league game of the season! Having previously lost their opening 2 matches got themselves a much needed win at the weekend and their 1st points on the board where at home playing Leiston St Margarets Ladies, scoring 2 goals in each half to win the game 4-0. Jemma Wessels netting a brace with Sophie Crane and Elysia Young also grabbing a goal each.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership

One game from the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership with Bar Hill Ladies hosting ICA Sports Ladies on Sunday a win for Bar Hill seeing them climb up into 3rd place in the table go level on 12 points with leaders Cambridge United WFC Reserves and 2nd placed Newmarket Town Ladies matching both their records with 4 wins and a loss from 5 played. Laura Spaxman netting a hat-trick in the game for Bar Hill, 2 goals for Anna Jepshon plus a goal for Naomi Ingarfield in a 6-1 win, ICA Sports reduced to 10 players after just 15 minutes with Bella Winn red carded. Carmen Herridge scoring their goal.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup

Elsewhere across the county the Group stage of the new look Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup continued. A mini league format 8 Groups with 3 or 4 teams in each with the winners progressing to the quarter finals in the New Year. 4 groups were decided this weekend. Cambridge United WFC Reserves were already through topping Group B.

In Group A it’s a Championship North side that progress into the knock-out stages with a big home win on Sunday. Wisbech St Mary Ladies playing host to fellow Championship North side, Hungate Rovers Ladies. An own goal in the opening 3 minutes getting thing’s started for Wisbech St Mary, from then on Lauren Lewis was the star of the show scoring a 1st half hat-trick then adding 2 further goals in the 2nd half to see Wisbech St Mary Ladies top Group A with a 6-0 win.

In Group C, Riverside Rovers Reserves from the Championship South won at home against fellow league side St Ives Rangers WFC. Goals from Lianna Bell, Clare Knibbs plus a brace from Anna Haun the 2nd from the penalty spot seeing them win the match 4-1. Ellen Chapman scoring for St Ives Rangers. Riverside currently top Group C on goal difference however Premiership side Cambridge University Women have their final game next Sunday and are favourites to top the group go through. An away win awarded to Netherton United Ladies in Group D sees them top of the table with the group to be decided next weekend.

In Group E, Bar Hill Ladies had already qualified for the quarter finals. Milton Ladies from the Championship South taking on Cambridge Rangers from the same league in the final match in the group. Milton Ladies winning the match edging the result 3-2 on Sunday. Kirsty Lemmon-Sparkes adding 2 more goals to her seasons tally with Lauren Threadgold also on target with a goal.

Group F in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup was where the Supporting Women’s Football Blog headed at the weekend to watch a winner takes all match. The only group with 2 Premiership sides in it both Newmarket Town Ladies and Is Ives Town Ladies tied on 6 points at the top haven both beaten the groups other sides, Isleham United Ladies and Fulbourn Bluebirds from the Championship South. The sides 2nd and 3rd in the Premiership going into the game, Newmarket held top spot courtesy of goal difference.

Newmarket creating the early chances the St Ives defence holding firm, the visitors took the lead midway through the 1st half counter attacking Sophie Marheineke playing Georgia Stancombe in behind to round the keeper inside the box and score. 4 minutes later the lead was doubled. Marheineke involved again helping to set up Sasha Smith the St Ives captain sending her shot past the keeper into the back of the net. Held onto the 2-0 lead for the rest of the match scoring a 3rd goal late on in the 2nd half substitute Jade Carpenter capitalising on a goalkeeper error to put the ball into the back of the net. Newmarket Town Ladies 0-3 St Ives Town Ladies

Isleham United Ladies hosted Fulbourn Bluebirds on Sunday also in Group F either side looking for their 1st points in the group. 2 goals for Katie Luddy plus a goal for Krissie Taylor saw Fulbourn Bluebirds pick up the 3 points finish 3rd. Laura McAllister scoring for Isleham United the final score 3-1.

No game in Group G this Sunday will be decided this coming weekend. Two matches in Group H. Championship North side, P&L Motors Diamonds sitting top after the weekends results after they came out on top of a 7 goal thriller at home to Premiership side Park Ladies. who scored through Danielle Green, Amy Newell and Erin Powell wasn’t to be enough to get anything from the game as they exit the League cup with a 4-3 defeat. Two Championship sides met in the other Group H match on Sunday, Championship North side March Town United Ladies hosting Championship South side Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves. 2 goals for Danni Youngs plus 1 for Dominika Szary seeing Newmarket win the game pick up 3 points in their final match in the group. 3-1 the final score Louise Barbour scoring for March Town United who play P&L Motors Diamonds in the final game need to win by a big score to top the group.

Essex Women’s County Cup

Postponed from last Sunday there was one tie in the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup to be settled this Sunday and all Essex Women’s Premier Division clash between Chelmsford City Ladies and league leaders, Lawford Ladies. 2 goals from Jasmine Cox plus a goal from Bethany Irwin saw Lawford win the game 3-0 and advance into the quarter finals the draw to be made this Wednesday.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

With Chelmsford City Ladies and Lawford Ladies postponed due to the above County Cup match their were 4 matches scheduled in the Essex Women’s Premier Division 2 of those were postponed too leaving just the 2 games played on Sunday. Both Eastern Avenue and Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies winning to move up a place in the table now 4th & 5th respectfully. Both going above Runwell Sports Ladies holding 4th position going into the weekend. Were at home to Eastern Avenue the visitors winning the game 5-0 to move above them.

Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies were at home on Sunday taking on Alresford Colne Rangers the visitors scoring 3 goals, wasn’t enough to take anything from the game with Beacon Hill Rovers scoring 4 goals to edge the victory take the 3 points courtesy of goals from Emma Norton and Anna South, plus a brace scored by Jo Smeaton seeing them into 5th spot.

Essex Women’s Division One

Essex Women’s Division One leaders Corringham Cosmos won away from home on Sunday with a comfortable 7-1 victory against, Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves to maintain their position at the top ahead of Frontiers Ladies on goal difference.

Level on 24 points with Corringham Cosmos, Frontiers Ladies continued their 100% winning start to the league with an away win against bottom side Waltham Forest Ladies to keep the pressure on the leaders. Frontiers had started the season with a crushing win at home against Waltham Forest and having scored 53 games in their 7 league games to date it looked a case of how long could Waltham Forest keep Frontiers at bay, the visitors creating chances were frustrated by Waltham Forest keeper, Kelly Holsworth (pictured) breaking the dead-lock opening the scoring from a free-kick. Emma Parker made it 2-0 to Frontiers with Holsworth adding her 2nd of the game to see Frontiers lead 3-0 at the break. Kay Foy struck twice early in the 2nd half to put Frontiers 5-0 up, Sharon Ferguson doing the same with 2 quick goals to make the score 7-0. Claire Davidson scored Frontiers 8th goal with Ferguson completing her hat-trick to see Frontiers win 9-0. Level on points with Corringham Cosmos, however Frontiers have a match in hand.

Elsewhere in Division One, Harlow Town Ladies Reserves move back into 3rd place in the table with a 5-2 home win on Sunday against Benfleet Villa Ladies. Moving up a place also into 4th spot in Division One are Hatfield Peveral Ladies with a narrow 2-1 away victory over FC Clacton Ladies on Sunday.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

Sherrardswood Ladies winning streak came to an end on Sunday, 5 league victories in a row had seen them climb into top spot in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One. Suffered their 2nd defeat of the season at home this weekend taking on St Albans Ladies who move up into 5th with the 3 points. St Albans leading 2-0 at half-time Suzanne Read giving them the lead on 37 minutes, Kayla Johnson adding the 2nd goal a minute before the half-time whistle. Sherrardswood Ladies pulled a goal back 5 minutes into the 2nd half Laura Cousins scoring. St Albans went on to restore the 2 goal cushion lead 3-1 in the 63rd minute, Read with her 2nd goal of the game, 3-1 the final score.

3-1 was also the final score in the other match in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One at the weekend going the way of the away side as Bishops Stortford Ladies travelled to play Hitchin Town Ladies. Goals from Rosee Golding, Yasmin Smith and Samantha Tant seeing them secure the 3 points and climb up into 3rd place in the league. Emma Chaffey scoring the goal for Hitchin Town Ladies.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

A meeting between 2nd and 3rd at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two on Sunday with 2nd placed Panshanger Ladies hosting 3rd placed Garston Ladies FC 96 at the Moneyhole Playing Fields. The sides had met just a fortnight ago in the reverse fixture Panshanger Ladies winning away from home 6-1 to move above Garston in the league. This time Garston were the away side and won the 3 points beating Panshanger by an equal 5 goal margin to move back above them into 2nd. Led 2-0 at half-time before going on to score a further 3 goals 2nd half to win the match 5-0. A brace each for Lilly Clark and Jade Roberts with Lauren Berryman also netting a goal.

Watton Ladies move up into 4th spot in Division Two with a large away win on Sunday travelling to play bottom side Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Clarets still looking for their 1st league points of the season. Watton finding the back of the net for 7 goals winning 7-1 to take the 3 points. Charlotte Demmon with the consolation goal for Woburn in the 2nd half.

Watton move above Hitchin Belles in the league table after they were beaten away from home on Sunday playing Royston Town Ladies Reserves who win for the 2nd time this season winning the match 5-2 with the goals coming from 5 different scorers, Abby Collins, Angelica Fachechi, Amber Murray, Harriet Smith and Kelly Yarwood all getting their name on the scoresheet. Ruth Fox and Charlotte Peters with Hitchin Belles goals.

Beds & Herts Division Three

Two matches in Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three on Sunday Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses Blues opening up a 3 point lead at the top of the table as the extended their 100% winning start to the season to 5 matches were away at the weekend playing Potters Bar United Ladies. Amy Gibbins and Georgia Payne both netting 2 goals each with a goal for both Rachel Moffat and Leanne James in a 6-0 victory.

In the other match in Division Three, Crawley Green Ladies came from behind twice to beat Shefford Town & Campton Ladies to climb up into 3rd place in the league on Sunday. At home Crawley Green were behind in the 7th minute as Shefford took the lead. Nina Service getting Crawley Green back on level terms in the 37th minute to make it 1-1 the score at half-time. Again Shefford took the lead early on in the 2nd half. Service with her 2nd goal of the match squaring it up at 2-2 on 56 minutes. Kirsty Morley scored to see Crawley Green take the lead for the 1st time in the match 3-2. Service netting her 3rd goal to complete her hat-trick with 6 minutes left to see Crawley Green take the 3 points with a 4-2 win.

Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup

In final tie to be played in the 2nd Round of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup with Beds & Herts Women’s Division One side Garston Ladies hosting the current holders of the cup Watford Ladies Development U19s. The sides playing out a 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes on Sunday to see the tie head into extra-time. Watford scoring in the extra period to win the match 2-1 and complete the quarter final line up.

ERWFL Premier Division

Haringey Borough Women move 3 points clear at the top of the ERWFL Premier Division table with a thumping win at home on Sunday the visitors, bottom side Colchester Town Ladies. Jessica Appeagyei and Julia Carruthers have scored 20 goals between them for Haringey Borough already this season. Both scoring a hat-trick on Sunday. Roisin Cormack, Klesha Darroux, Anele Komani and Jaidene Browne all scored a goal each to in a 10-1 win. Georgia Box with a late consolation goal for Colchester Town Ladies.

Haringey pulling clear of 2nd placed Bedford Ladies after they suffered defeat conceding an injury time winner away to Acle United Ladies who hadn’t played a league match since the end of October had slipped down the table as a consequence. Kate Pasque gave Acle the lead 13 minutes into the 1st half and advantage they held onto for most of the game, Bedford pushing for a equaliser 2nd half pulled the scores level late on only to give away a penalty in the 4th minute of injury time. Joanne Hooper putting the ball into the back of the game to see Acle win the 3 points climb up to 6th in the table with games in hand on all the sides above them.

At Creasey Park, 3rd placed AFC Dunstable Ladies were held to a goalless draw by visitors AFC Sudbury Ladies who drop down the table to 8th after other results go against them. Acle into 6th, Brentwood Town Ladies into 7th with a win away to Histon Ladies. That after finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time, Histon Ladies with the advantage after a brace from Alison Wright midway through the 1st half. Brentwood Town came back 2nd half an early goal 2 minutes in to reduce Histon’s lead drew level on 60 minutes then took the lead on 70 minutes, Sophie Lovell on target with a goal with Leah Cowan scoring twice. Both sides saw a player red carded in the match Katie Webb for Histon, Emma Mackie sent off for Brentwood who held on to finish 3-2 winners.

Billericay Town Ladies recent good form and winning streak was brought to an end by Royston Town Ladies the home side on Sunday taking all 3 points winning their 3rd league game of the season. 2 goals from Sammy Tinsley plus 1 for Paris Coldicott-Stevens enough to get the points in a 3-2 win. Vicky Kinsman and Sophie Whiting netting the goals for Billericay Town.

ERWFL Division One

After a shock 1-0 defeat to end their 100% winning start to the season Cambridge City Ladies were looking to get back to winning ways on the road on Sunday playing bottom side Hoddesdon Town Ladies who despite not having picked up a single point yet their new look side is starting to improve. Had to work hard defending to keep Cambridge City at bay, the visitors taking a 1-0 lead into the changing rooms at half-time, Emma Littlewood the scorer. Lauren Tomlinson putting Cambridge City 2-0 up with a little over 20 minutes left on the clock. Georgia Prior with her 1st goal of the season pulled it back to 2-1 5 minutes later. The final score Cambridge City remain 3 points clear at the top.

Moving back into 2nd place on 21 points are Bedfordshire side Offley & Stopsley Ladies away to Hutton Ladies on Sunday afternoon, led 2-0 at half-time with Rachael Lewis scoring both their goals. Hutton Ladies pulled a goal back in the 2nd half Samantha Kuski putting the ball into the back of the net, however they weren’t able to breach Offley & Stopsley’s defence again to take anything from the game.

Silver End United Ladies having moved into 2nd spot in the ERWFL Division One table last weekend were away to fellow Essex side Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies on Sunday. A late equaliser for the visitors saw them take a share of the points in a 2-2 draw. Sophie Dowman and Danielle Styles with the goals for Little Thurrock Dynamos, Lynsey Bowman and Rebecca Hollocks with the goals for Silver End United Ladies.

A good result at home for Stevenage Ladies Reserves on Sunday taking on 4th placed Wymondham Town Ladies. Stevenage scoring 3 goals in the opening 8 minutes of the 2nd half putting them in control of the game going on to win 4-0 to win their 4th league game of the season climb to 7th. 4 different goalscorers with Rosy Wodhams, Leah Littlechild, Jessica Nash and Sarah Payne all on target.

Following on from picking up their 2nd win of the season last Sunday against the league leaders, Hertford Town Ladies picked up their 1st away point in the league this weekend. A local derby Hertford travelled to play Colney Heath Ladies the 2 sides contesting a goalless 1st half. Colney Heath Ladies captain, Sophie Joseph scored to give them the lead. Hertford came back to level 10 minutes from time, Becky Shephard striking the ball into the back of the net.

FAWPL Southern Division

3 games in the FAWPL Southern Division this Sunday with Tottenham Hotspur Ladies keeping up their unbeaten start in the league returning to the top of the league with victory away to Swindon Town Ladies. The goals all coming after they were held 0-0 at half-time. Bianca Baptiste getting the break through for Tottenham 11 minutes into the 2nd half putting them into the lead. Renee Hector made an immediate impact coming off the bench on the 59th minute scoring Tottenham’s 2nd goal a minute later, the lead extended to 3-0 just 3 minutes later Nikita Whinnett netting the goal. Kelley Blanchflower also finding the back of the net with less than 15 minutes to play to see Tottenham onto a 4-0 win climb back above Cardiff City Ladies who weren’t in league action this weekend.

Also moving above Cardiff City Ladies into 2nd place are Charlton Athletic Women with a home win against Portsmouth FC Ladies on Sunday. Charley Clifford putting the home side ahead on the 3rd minute. Samantha Quayle scoring for Portsmouth midway through the 1st half saw the sides go into the dressing room 1-1 at half-time. Charlton going on to take a 3 goal lead in the 2nd half before Portsmouth reduced the deficit late in the game. Kit Graham scoring to see Charlton go 2-1 on 64 minutes. Charlotte Lee adding a goal on 78 minutes with Clifford adding to her 1st half strike scoring on 83 minutes. Sarah Kempson pulling the goal back for Portsmouth in injury time as they go down 4-2.

In the other match in the FAWPL Southern Division it was a clash between the bottom 2 with West Ham United Ladies travelling to Uxbridge to play Queens Park Rangers Ladies. Julie Melfard giving the visitors an early lead scoring in the 7th minute. The lead lasted just 10 minutes Jenny Critchley finding the back of the net for Queens Park Rangers to level things up, that the way it stayed until the final whistle, Queens Park Rangers earning their 2nd point of the season the gap to West Ham United remains 3 points with a game in hand.

FAWPL South East Division One

Top of the table Cambridge United WFC saw their run of 8 straight league victories come to an end at the weekend a trip down to Kent to play Gillingham FC Ladies who themselves maintained their unbeaten start to the season. The home side taking an early lead Emma Tune fouled outside the box then stepping up to take the free-kick sending the ball into the back of the net. Cambridge came back to level on the half-hour Nicole Perschky making it 1-1. Gillingham went on to take a lead into the dressing room at half-time, April Bowers (pictured) scoring with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. 2 goals in 2 minutes from Gillingham midway through the 2nd half saw them pull in front a 2 goal advantage with Emily Symond and Amy Taylor on target to make it 4-1 in what would be her last game for Gillingham with her loan spell from Brighton coming to an end alongside Vicky Ashton-Jones. Gillingham taking the 3 points unbeaten with 7 played, in 6th place have 3 games in hand on most of the sides above them. Cambridge remain top spot.

Their lead however is reduced to 2 points after a win for 2nd placed AFC Wimbledon Ladies on Sunday away to Enfield Town Ladies. Were a goal down early in the game however as Enfield led after just 3 minutes. Captain Jess Trimnell scored for Wimbledon to level it up on 26 minutes only for Enfield to get back into the lead 6 minutes later led at half time. Laura Curtis got it back to 2-2 for Wimbledon on 58 minutes, the score level going into injury time only for Georgia Heasman to score the winning goal for Wimbledon 2 minutes into injury time to see them take the 3 points with a 3-2 victory, coming on in the 73rd minute to make her 1st team debut.

3rd placed Milton Keynes Dons Ladies travelled to 4th placed Actonians Ladies on Sunday the 2 sides sharing the points with a 1-1 draw. Both the goals coming in the 1st half, Carla Williams with the goal for Actonians Ladies. Rebecca Vass on target for Milton Keynes Dons Ladies. 1-1 was also the score between Stevenage Ladies and 5th placed Luton Town Ladies. The side bottom of the FAWPL South East Division One getting their 2nd point of the season. Stevenage took the lead captain, Donna McGuigan putting them 1 up. Conceded a late penalty to deny them their 1st lead win of the season, Zara Carroll scoring from the spot to make it 1-1 was later sent off for Luton.

Ipswich Town Ladies got back to winning ways in the league on Sunday and move up 2 places in the table in the process up to 7th win an away win against Denham United Ladies. Ipswich Town were a goal down at the break however, Lauren Cox scoring for Denham United in the 1st half. Ipswich coming back to level thing’s up Laura Guyon scoring for the 2nd successive match since joining from C&K Basildon Ladies. The winner coming in the 90th minute Lindsay Cooper with the goal her 1st of the season to see Ipswich Town take the 3 points.

Capital Women’s Cup

Postponed from last Sunday, Crystal Palace Ladies were at home playing their Capital Women’s Cup quarter final tie against Camden Town Ladies. Reach the semi-finals of the competition where they will be at home to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies in the New Year racking up a double figure winning scoreline. Lilli Maple netting herself 4 goals. Rochelle Shakes also scoring a hat-trick with a goal each for Megan Goss, Pamela McRoberts and Alma Donohoe also on target in a comfortable 10-0 win.

It seems every week in The Round-Up somewhere or other at the moment I am reporting about a team withdrawing from a league in the region and this week sadly it’s no different. Southend Town Ladies who had been struggling to fulfil fixtures have pulled out of Essex Women’s Division One which has seen so adjustment to the table benefiting some others losing points won. Sad to see another side gone and wish everyone at Southend Town Ladies the best hope you all stay in the game one way or another.

Essex Women’s Premier Division

One game in the Essex Women’s Premier Division this weekend and Wickford Town Ladies are celebrating after they get their 1st win in the league since being promoted. Climb up to 8th spot in the table as a result the 3 points earned away from home against Hutton Ladies Reserves. 2 goals from Kerry Mills plus a goal a piece for Julia Setford, Carly Willis and Harley Brueton seeing Wickford Town win the game 5-2.

Essex Women’s Division One

2 matches in Essex Women’s Division One on Sunday and Collier Row Athletic continue to advance up the league table 4 straight league wins now. A high scoring game on Sunday at home against Harlow Town Ladies Reserves who themselves found the back of the net 3 times. Was far from enough to take anything from the game however as Collier Row Athletic put more than double that tally into the back of the net winning the game 7-3.

Another side failing to take anything from a match at the weekend after scoring 3 goals were Wickford Town Ladies Reserves despite a hat-trick from Rachael Dipper at home visitors FC Clacton Ladies left with all 3 points after scoring 6 to 4th spot joining 4 sides all on 12 points in the middle of the table.

Essex Women’s County Cup

Like the rest of the region it was County Cup weekend in Essex the 2nd Round of the competition 7 ties to decide who would join Cup Holders, C&K Basildon Ladies in the quarter finals. Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies and Billericay Town Ladies going through with home wins after their opponents withdrew from the league. Chelmsford City Ladies v Lawford Ladies was postponed and they will try again this coming Sunday.

That left 4 2nd Round ties that were played this Sunday. A big win at home for last seasons beaten finalists Writtle Ladies from the ERWFL Premier Division playing Essex Women’s Premier Division side Walden Ladies. Sophie Vale bagging herself 4 goals in the match with captain Abigail Fry netting a hat-trick. Ellie Bowdidge, Lucy Jones and Amy Simmons also scoring as Writtle racked up a 10-0 win.

A big win away from home too for ERWFL Premier Division side Brentwood Town Ladies taking on Essex Women’s Premier Division opponents Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies, the 2 league gap proving too much. Georgia Holdaway finding the back of the net for 4 goals, Marie Barker scoring a hat-trick with Emma Hooker also getting a goal in an 8-0 away win.

Just a single goal was enough to decide the only all ERWFL tie in the 2nd Round of the Essex Women’s County Cup and it saw Division One side Hutton Ladies through to the quarter finals knocking out Premier Division side Colchester Town Ladies at home. Kaitlin Sugg with the goal for Hutton.

An all Essex Women’s Premier Division tie in the last match to bring you from the 2nd Round and Harlow Town Ladies with a 100% win record in the league advance to the quarter finals of the County Cup winning big at home against Collier Row Tigers on Sunday. If you rocked up for the 2nd half you missed an all action 1st half. 6 goals coming in the opening 15 minutes. Tayla Handscomb put Harlow Town into the lead inside the opening minute only for Collier Row Tigers to score right away to make it 1-1, Tia Dye put Harlow Town back into the lead on 7 minutes Handscomb netting her 2nd goal a minute later to make it 3-1, Collier Row Tigers getting it back to 3-2 on 12 minutes. Taylor O’Leary scoring for Harlow Town on 15 minutes to see them lead 4-2. Francesca Tye extending the lead 3 minutes later Harlow Town going on to dominate the remainder of the 2nd half, Fran Gamble having seen the goals going in went on to grab herself a 13 minute hat-trick to see Harlow Town lead 8-2 at half-time. The 2nd half in comparison was a quiet affair with just a further goal added to Harlow Town’s tally O’Leary with her 2nd of the match to see them into the quarter finals and make it 10 wins from 10 in all competitions.

The draw for the quarter finals of the Essex Women’s County Cup scheduled for Weds 30th November.

Essex Women’s Trophy

With 3 of the 4 quarter finals of this years Essex Women’s Trophy already decided without a ball being kicked it was nevertheless a tasty looking encounter in the remaining fixture with Frontiers Ladies new this season high flying in Essex Women’s Division One hosting higher league opponents Chigwell Ladies. The Essex Women’s Premier Division side taking the lead in the match going in front on 14 minutes. Frontiers responded and pulled it back to 1-1 within 7 minutes of falling behind, Hayley King netting the goal. Chigwell came back to retake the lead with 10 minutes of the 1st half left from a free-kick 2-1 the advantage at half-time.

In a competitive match between the 2 sides Frontiers pushing for an equalising goal got it with 12 minutes of normal time left Sharon Ferguson on target ending 2-2 after 90 minutes the tie headed into extra-time. Frontiers were to find the extra energy and got themselves into the lead for the 1st time in the match Freya Liiv (pictured) on hand to put the ball into the back of the net. Held the advantage going into the 2nd period of extra-time, Ferguson scoring her 2nd of the game to open a 2 goal cushion with 5 minutes left, just aswell as Chigwell responded straight away scoring up the other end to make it 4-3. Frontiers seeing out the closing minutes to win the game advance to the semi-finals of the Essex Women’s Trophy where they could face either Trinity U18s or Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves or with Southend Town Ladies withdrawing from the league may even receive a bye straight to the final if I learn anything more will let you know however the draw is scheduled to be made Wednesday 30th November.
