Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup

  Quarter Finals weekend in the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup, Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies reaching the final for the 1st time last season through to the last 4 again this season without kicking a ball after they were awarded the home win against Garston Ladies 2nd XI. The weather beating another quarter final with Colney Heath Ladies away game against Watford Ladies U23s postponed.

  That left two ties to be settled on the field this Sunday. Holders, Stevenage Ladies were hosting ERWFL Premier Division side Royston Town Ladies, a repeat of the final two seasons ago. Stevenage playing in the FAWNL South East Division One beating their lower league opponents with a confident scoreline to reach the last 4 of the competition once again. Ellie Searle scoring a hat-trick for the hosts. Nicole Emmings on target also for two goals. Ashleigh Deacon and Erin Pope also celebrating a goal each in a 7-2 victory. Joanne Rutherford with both the goals for Royston.

   Also booking a spot in the last 4 of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup are Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies. Pushing at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One were at home to Garston Ladies U18s in the quarter finals. Progressed with a dominate display recording a double figure scoreline in the process. Both Bianca Hedgecock and Natasha McConville scoring a hat-trick each in the match. Two goals each for Louise McCay and Lizzie Richardson. Charlene Turturici-Clarke with a goal along with two players scoring for the first time this season, Lorna Gover and Amy Shaw. Hemel Hempstead winning 13-0.

  The semi-finals taking place in the New Year Sun 20th January and are as follows:-

Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies v Stevenage Ladies

Watford Ladies U23s or Colney Heath Ladies v Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies

Beds & Herts Women’s Division One

  Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires ended a run of 3 straight defeats in league and cup competition with a good result at home on Sunday to keep them top of Beds & Herts Division One. Were at home hosting bottom placed side Garston Ladies 1st team. Katherine Calvert and Chemise Huitson both scoring two goals each for the Sapphires Danielle Aken, Janiece Allen and Georgia Quinton with her first goal of the season also getting goals in a 7-1 victory. Emma Trill with the goal for Garston. 

   Houghton Athletic Ladies brought an end to their poor run of results last weekend to put themselves back in contention for top spot in Beds & Herts Division One, kept that pressure up with a 2nd successive 3 point haul to move them into 2nd and stay within a point of the leaders Welwyn. Houghton were at home this Sunday up against Sherrardswood Ladies. The hosts claiming the win with a close 2-1 scoreline, Emily Wilson and Emily Peat’s goals the difference with Rhiana Rose scoring a 43rd minute penalty for Sherrardswood.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two

   A 7 point lead at the top of Beds & Herts Division Two now for Hitchin Town Ladies as they won for the 7th time this season, a home win on Sunday against one of the sides hoping to chase them down 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development. Captain, Emma Chaffey moving onto 8 goals for the season netting another two at the weekend for Hitchin Town. Kitri Simon scored her 1st goal for Hitchin Town too with Robyn Wilfort on the scoresheet too in a 4-1 win. Olivia Sole getting the goal for Royston.

  Hitchin Belles move into 4th spot in Beds & Herts Division Two a point behind 3rd placed Royston now, 9 points between them and local rivals Hitchin Town, the Belles however with 3 games in hand. Were away on Sunday taking on bottom side Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Kiera How and Katie White scoring a goal in either half to secure a 2-0 win for Hitchin Belles

  Watton Ladies have been in a poor run of form in the league in Beds & Herts Division Two, coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the cup last weekend, Watton had a boost going into this Sunday’s league clash at home to Evergreen Ladies. Sian Owens scoring 2 goals moving onto 7 for the season, with Codie Page scoring her 1st Watton goal sealing a 3-1 win for Watton. Rebecca Freeman on target for Evergreen scoring her 6th goal of the season.

Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three

  New leaders in Beds & Herts Division Three with AFC Dunstable Reserves taking over at the top from Langford Ladies who were the only side not in action this weekend. Eyes on the prize for Dunstable as they kicked off at home to Stotfold Juniors Ladies on Sunday looking to keep up their unbeaten start in the league. Bianca Vassell with the large portion of goals for Dunstable so far this season scoring another 2 to take her onto 20. Madison Ashford, Lauren Brooker and Nicole Cameron all with a goal each too in a 5-1 win. Chloe Everton scoring for Stotfold. 

  Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses in 3rd spot also enjoying a great start to the season their unbeaten start ended by Dunstable, they themselves brought an end to another unbeaten start to the season at the weekend. Were at home taking on 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. Giselle Randall hitting a rich vein of form for Woburn & Wavendon moved onto double figures for the season netting all 3 goals for the hosts as they secured the win 3-2. Kimberlee Aldred plus an OG the goal scorers for Kempston who lose ground on the top 3 but still have games in hand.

  A high scoring match between Biggleswade United Ladies and Buntingford Town Ladies this Sunday in Division Three the sides sharing 8 goals between them Buntingford Town scoring 3 goals so too did Leeanne Davison for Biggleswade taking her onto 13 for the season, Sarah King also getting a goal with Jade Horsley finding the beck of the net for the 1st time this season Biggleswade closing to within a point of 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College with their 5th win of the campaign.

  7 points now from their last 3 league games for Kempston Rovers Ladies, moving up the Division Three table their 2nd league win of the season coming away from home on Sunday against Bedwell Rangers Ladies. Goals from Beth Prior and Sabrina Stramaglia seeing Kempston into a 2-0 half-time lead. Bedwell scoring a goal in the 2nd half Courtney Edwards on target, had Leah Tomlin sent off, Kempston Rovers winning out 2-1 to collect the 3 points.
