The final Round-Up for the county this year, although not the end to the football as Division Two looks set to continue through the festive period. Women’s Football East may well be at a couple pf those games if tempted (and that isn’t difficult).
This Sunday saw a couple of postponement’s Thorpe United Ladies ending the year 9 points clear at the top of Division One having injuries to key players (goalkeepers) calling off their match at home to Sprowston Athletic. Two matches were played. Sprowston Ladies moving clear into 3rd position end the year 3 points from 2nd placed Aylsham Ladies with a game in hand. Sprowston ending 2018 with a run of 5 games without a loss were at home on Sunday up against Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves. A 2-0 win seeing Sprowston make 3rd spot their own.
At last a positive end to 2018 for Bungay Town Ladies. Getting numbers back into their squad and with it the results have come as last seasons defending champions make it 2 league wins on the bounce and a total of 7 points from their last 3. The ‘old farm’ derby as they titled this weekends game taking on local rivals Beccles Town Ladies at home on Sunday. A positive first half for Bungay taking control of the matching winning 5-0 at the final whistle. The goals coming from Selina Rowland and Imogen McGregor. Shannon Dade also scoring her first goal of the season along with Fiona Burrage getting a goal on her Bungay debut.
Norfolk Women’s Division Two
A huge game at the top of Norfolk Women’s Division Two on Sunday with the leading pair both unbeaten so far this season going head to head. Leaders Fakenham Town Ladies with a 100% winning record away to Taverham United Women just two points behind in 2nd spot well clear of the chasing pack. Destined to be a close encounter and in the end it was just the one goal that separated the sides, Abbie Walker netting it for Taverham her 18th goal of the campaign seeing her side go to the top of the table as Fakenham suffer defeat for the 1st time this season, the sides meeting in the reverse fixture this coming Sunday.
Long Stratton Women finish the year in 3rd position in the Division Two table climbing above Gorleston Rangers Ladies with a comfortable home win on Sunday against Freethorpe Ladies. Striker Samantha Walker proving a useful addition to the squad too hot to handle this weekend scoring 5 goals moving her onto 27 goals from just 9 games. A brace to for Emily Watts who has 13 now for the campaign seeing Long Stratton win 7-0. Long Stratton travelling to Freethorpe next Sunday.
A Thetford derby this Sunday with the town’s young guns meeting for the first time in women’s football. Thetford Town Ladies at home to Bulldogs Ladies. A difficult start to lift in the league for both, Thetford Town struggling for numbers at times playing just their 6th league match, Bulldogs bottom of the table without a point, have nevertheless been competitve in several games. Melissa Boulton is Thetford Town’s top scorer a brace at the weekend taking her into double figures for the season. Emma Johnson getting the goals for Bulldogs scored another at the weekend to take her onto 8. Sara-Jane Langford also on the scoresheet for Bulldogs. It was Thetford Town celebrating the win at the end of the match however their 3rd of the season with goals from Laura Martins, Gemma Ramsey and Melena Smith seeing them to a 5-2 victory. Again the fixture reversed this coming Sunday.
Two sides in need of a confidence boosting win met on Sunday with Horsford Women entertaining Hockering Ladies. Both newcomers to the league with a single win on the board each so far. Hockering struggling for numbers have rarely been able to field a full team which hasn’t helped them, 2 to 3 more committed players will in time make all the difference. Ending up with 9 against Horsford, Hockering did well to limit Horsford to 3 goals enough to get them that 2nd 3 point haul of the season. Robyn Penn scoring for Hockering her first goal in her new teams colours. Likewise the two sides meet in the reverse fixture this coming Sunday.
10 wins from 10 now for East Bergholt United Ladies at the top of the Suffolk Women’s Division, and a +100 goal difference already. Moved onto an incredible 104 goals for the season before Christmas with a home win against Brettvale Ladies this Sunday. Stacey Teager and Annie Northwood both finding the back of the net for two goals each, with Millie Wilding and Jessica Clark also getting a goal a piece in a 6-1 win. Iris Gunnarsdottir getting the goal for Brettvale her first for the club.
All change below East Bergholt, Brantham Athletic Ladies neck and neck with East Bergholt at the start of the season slipping down to 4th after a run of 3 games without a win, a draw followed by a narrow loss at home to East Bergholt were away to Needham Market Women this Sunday having the best start to the season out of all the newcomers to the league. 3rd in the table Needham Market came out on top in a 7 goal thriller with Brantham to claim the 3 points their 8th win of the season taking them up into 2nd in the table winning 4-3. Lucy Dunnett, Kirsten Hutchings and Danielle Harvey scoring for Brantham.
Alresford Colne Rangers up there too amongst the sides hoping to see East Bergholt slip up, climb into 3rd position in the Suffolk Women’s Division table with a big win away to struggling Haverhill Rovers Ladies Reserves on Sunday. Tiffany Reeves with a double hat-trick for Alresford top scoring in the match. 3 more players celebrating hat-tricks for Alresford with Jenna Cash, Vicky Hall and and Lucie Stanbury all getting 3 to their name. Laurel Harknett added two more with Christina Cash and Jasmine Warner also on the scoresheet in a 19-0 win.
One goal is enough though to win the 3 points more often then not and Coplestonians Ladies claimed their 3rd 1-0 win of the season away from home on Sunday on consolidate their position in mid-table in the Suffolk Women’s Division. Were away to Brightlingsea Regent Ladies the sides locked at 0-0 at half-time. Felicity Cooper, getting the all important goal in the 2nd half for the visitors to secure Coplestonians 5th win of the campaign.
0-0 after the first 45 minutes on Sunday between University of Suffolk Women and Chantry Grasshoppers Ladies it was a completely different story 2nd half with the sides sharing 8 goals between them and taking home a point each, Leanne Derbyshire and Amy Yeldham scoring 2 goals each for University of Suffolk ended the game with 10 with Christeena Sunny red carded. Charlotte Archer doubling her goals tally for Chantry Grasshoppers with a hat-trick with Bernice Corney also getting a goal for the visitors in a 4-4 draw.
Quarter Finals weekend in the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup, Hoddesdon Town Owls Ladies reaching the final for the 1st time last season through to the last 4 again this season without kicking a ball after they were awarded the home win against Garston Ladies 2nd XI. The weather beating another quarter final with Colney Heath Ladies away game against Watford Ladies U23s postponed.
That left two ties to be settled on the field this Sunday. Holders, Stevenage Ladies were hosting ERWFL Premier Division side Royston Town Ladies, a repeat of the final two seasons ago. Stevenage playing in the FAWNL South East Division One beating their lower league opponents with a confident scoreline to reach the last 4 of the competition once again. Ellie Searle scoring a hat-trick for the hosts. Nicole Emmings on target also for two goals. Ashleigh Deacon and Erin Pope also celebrating a goal each in a 7-2 victory. Joanne Rutherford with both the goals for Royston.
Also booking a spot in the last 4 of the Hertfordshire Women’s County Cup are Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies. Pushing at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division One were at home to Garston Ladies U18s in the quarter finals. Progressed with a dominate display recording a double figure scoreline in the process. Both Bianca Hedgecock and Natasha McConville scoring a hat-trick each in the match. Two goals each for Louise McCay and Lizzie Richardson. Charlene Turturici-Clarke with a goal along with two players scoring for the first time this season, Lorna Gover and Amy Shaw. Hemel Hempstead winning 13-0.

Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires ended a run of 3 straight defeats in league and cup competition with a good result at home on Sunday to keep them top of Beds & Herts Division One. Were at home hosting bottom placed side Garston Ladies 1st team. Katherine Calvert and Chemise Huitson both scoring two goals each for the Sapphires Danielle Aken, Janiece Allen and Georgia Quinton with her first goal of the season also getting goals in a 7-1 victory. Emma Trill with the goal for Garston.
Houghton Athletic Ladies brought an end to their poor run of results last weekend to put themselves back in contention for top spot in Beds & Herts Division One, kept that pressure up with a 2nd successive 3 point haul to move them into 2nd and stay within a point of the leaders Welwyn. Houghton were at home this Sunday up against Sherrardswood Ladies. The hosts claiming the win with a close 2-1 scoreline, Emily Wilson and Emily Peat’s goals the difference with Rhiana Rose scoring a 43rd minute penalty for Sherrardswood.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two
A 7 point lead at the top of Beds & Herts Division Two now for Hitchin Town Ladies as they won for the 7th time this season, a home win on Sunday against one of the sides hoping to chase them down 3rd placed Royston Town Ladies Development. Captain, Emma Chaffey moving onto 8 goals for the season netting another two at the weekend for Hitchin Town. Kitri Simon scored her 1st goal for Hitchin Town too with Robyn Wilfort on the scoresheet too in a 4-1 win. Olivia Sole getting the goal for Royston.
Hitchin Belles move into 4th spot in Beds & Herts Division Two a point behind 3rd placed Royston now, 9 points between them and local rivals Hitchin Town, the Belles however with 3 games in hand. Watton Ladies have been in a poor run of form in the league in Beds & Herts Division Two, coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the cup last weekend, Watton had a boost going into this Sunday’s league clash at home to Evergreen Ladies. Sian Owens scoring 2 goals moving onto 7 for the season, with Codie Page scoring her 1st Watton goal sealing a 3-1 win for Watton. Rebecca Freeman on target for Evergreen scoring her 6th goal of the season.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three
New leaders in Beds & Herts Division Three with AFC Dunstable Reserves taking over at the top from Langford Ladies who were the only side not in action this weekend. Eyes on the prize for Dunstable as they kicked off at home to Stotfold Juniors Ladies on Sunday looking to keep up their unbeaten start in the league. Bianca Vassell with the large portion of goals for Dunstable so far this season scoring another 2 to take her onto 20. Madison Ashford, Lauren Brooker and Nicole Cameron all with a goal each too in a 5-1 win. Chloe Everton scoring for Stotfold.
Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses in 3rd spot also enjoying a great start to the season their unbeaten start ended by Dunstable, they themselves brought an end to another unbeaten start to the season at the weekend. Were at home taking on 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies. Giselle Randall hitting a rich vein of form for Woburn & Wavendon moved onto double figures for the season netting all 3 goals for the hosts as they secured the win 3-2. Kimberlee Aldred plus an OG the goal scorers for Kempston who lose ground on the top 3 but still have games in hand.
A high scoring match between Biggleswade United Ladies and Buntingford Town Ladies this Sunday in Division Three the sides sharing 8 goals between them Buntingford Town scoring 3 goals so too did Leeanne Davison for Biggleswade taking her onto 13 for the season, Sarah King also getting a goal with Jade Horsley finding the beck of the net for the 1st time this season Biggleswade closing to within a point of 4th placed AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College with their 5th win of the campaign.
7 points now from their last 3 league games for Kempston Rovers Ladies, moving up the Division Three table their 2nd league win of the season coming away from home on Sunday against Bedwell Rangers Ladies. Goals from Beth Prior and Sabrina Stramaglia seeing Kempston into a 2-0 half-time lead. Bedwell scoring a goal in the 2nd half Courtney Edwards on target, had Leah Tomlin sent off, Kempston Rovers winning out 2-1 to collect the 3 points.
A varied weekend of competition across the county this weekend, the highlight being the quarter finals of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup. Sometimes had to find information in the County Cup competitions. All four games scheduled for this weekend Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds home tie against Cambridge Rangers cancelled moved to next Sunday.
The winners of that tie will be playing Burwell Tigers Ladies in the semi-finals after they claimed victory away from home in Sunday in their quarter final against fellow Championship South side Isleham United Ladies. Hannah Dewey scoring a brace, their were goals too for Vicky Murrell and Megan Seabrook-Mead in a 5-1 victory for Burwell. Emily Ingle scoring the goal for Isleham.
An all Premiership quarter final in the junior Invitation Cup saw Cambridge City Ladies Development at home to Histon Ladies Reserves this Sunday. Megan Tonks on target with a hat-trick for Cambridge City way out in front in the goal scoring charts with 19 goals for the campaign to date. Hannah Lock celebrating her 1st goal of the season too for Cambridge City who ran out 4-1 winners. Bethany Fisher with the goal for Histon scoring on her 1st start for the side.
Cambridge City Ladies Development’s will be at home in the semi-finals of the Junior Invitation Cup their opponents fellow Premiership side March Town United Ladies. A tough opponent for March in the quarter finals drawn away to Championship South high flyers, St Ives Town Ladies Development. The Premiership side trailing 1-0 at half-time. Came back well though in the 2nd half to level the scores before going on to win 2-1 to reach the last 4 of the competition. Emma Searle and Naomi McGarvie with the goals.
Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup
One game from the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Cup group stage this Sunday. In Group A, Championship North leaders Ketton Ladies were away to fellow league side Cardea Ladies. Goalless at half-time Cardea getting the lead with under 20 minutes left Naomi Hall with the goal. Ketton lacklustre managing to find a quick reply Beth Goodman equalising just 4 minutes later. The visitors finding the winning goal in the 90th minute Goodman on target for her 2nd of the match to see Ketton win 2-1 to keep up their 100% winning record not only in the league but Group A also as they join ICA Sports Ladies at the top on 9 points.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship North
A 100% winning record now back on the table for Wisbech Town Ladies in the Championship North as they rejoin Ketton Ladies at the top of the table with 5 wins from 5 after the ‘result’ from their abandoned game with Ketton was removed. Wisbech were away to Pinchbeck United Ladies in the league this weekend were short on numbers physio Charlotte Rose drafted in as a substitute. Was soon called into action with Wisbech suffering a further injury blow. Pinchbeck lively performances improving too the lead in the game Rebecca Navarrette finding the back of the net. Wisbech came back to level the scores just before the half-time whistle Sophie Swinden getting the goal to make it 1-1. Wisbech going on to find the winner in the 2nd half Rose scoring the goal much to the delight of everyone.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South
One game too in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Championship South with Haverhill Rovers Ladies restoring their lead to 3 points in the table with an away win against Park Ladies on Sunday. Joeli Kirby netting twice in the match taking her tally to 21 for the season. Two goals too for Kayleigh Nolan. Catherine Upton and Kayleigh Steed also getting a goal each with Elicia Cooper also a target in a 7-2 victory. Jenna Brown and Sophie Fenner scoring the goals for Park.

Acle United Women taking over top spot in the ERWFL Premier Division were at home on Sunday taking on Cambridge City Ladies a 100% winning record in the league for the visitors haven’t played a league game in over a month following on from their cup shenanigans. Back to the meat and potatoes this weekend a top of the table clash, Acle unbeaten at home going into the match. Both sides creating chances goalkeeping saves and the woodwork in play it was Cambridge City who would open the scoring midway through the 1st half Bella Simmons header looping over the keeper to make it 1-0. Lauren Tomlinson with a strong run from the back sending the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 to the visiting side late in the first half. Cambridge City reduced to 10 midway through the 2nd period Sarah Mosley red carded. A nervous end to the game with Acle awarded a penalty with 15 minutes left Grace Birchall smashing the ball home. Cambridge though holding on to win 2-1 and make it 8 wins from 8 climb back up into 3rd spot.

Moving up the Premier Division table back into 2nd spot are Peterborough Northern Star Ladies. Were at home on Sunday taking on AFC Sudbury Ladies. Emma Pollard staying ahead in the goal scoring charts netting a hat-trick in the game to take her onto 12 for the season whilst Katie Steward hit a brace to take her onto 10 goals. Cassie Steward also getting a goal has 8 for the season as Peterborough Northern Star ran out 6-1 winners. Emma Squirrell getting on the scoresheet for Sudbury.
The two promoted sides comfortable in mid-table in the met one another on Sunday, Norfolk side Wymondham Town Ladies travelling down to Essex to face Harlow Town Ladies on Sunday. Wymondham short on numbers having just the bare 11. Harlow taking the lead in the 19th minute awarded a free-kick wide right the ball played in towards the near post headed in by captain, Kaydee King. That was how it stayed with Wymondham getting back on level terms on the hour Hannah Waters scoring to make it 1-1. 7 minutes later Wymondham took the lead themselves, Waters with the assist this time crossing for top scorer Laura Nicholls to find the back of the net. 10 minute left Harlow’s turn to pull the scores level from the penalty spot, Chloe Bassett driving the ball in for 2-2. 6 minutes left on the clock the Wymondham strikers applying pressure to the Harlow defence Waters pressing the ball popping up for Nicholls a 1st time strike to send the ball past the keeper and win the game 3-2 for the visitors.
Bedford Ladies sandwiched in between Wymondham and Harlow in the middle of the Premier Division table won away from home on Sunday in their local derby against AFC Dunstable Ladies. A comfortable win 5-0 to Bedford with 5 different names on the scoresheet, Priya Bhatti, Michelle Byrne, Gemma Franklin, Sophie Mulvihill and Maya Sidhu all celebrating.
ERWFL Division One
New leaders in ERWFL Division One a host of sides in the hunt to chase down Stevenage Ladies Reserves at the top of the table the side to do so, Bowers & Pitsea Ladies as they win away from home capitalising as Stevenage fought back twice to earn a point at home this Sunday.
Bowers & Pitsea in a good vein of form unbeaten in their last 5 league matches including a 6-5 win at home against Stevenage two weeks ago. A goalless draw at home to fellow title chasers, St Ives Town Ladies last time out Bowers & Pitsea were on the road this weekend taking on fellow Essex side Lawford Ladies. The visitors getting into the lead with 10 minutes left in the first half Sheena Foley scoring direct from a corner. Into first half stoppage time and Bowers & Pitsea won a penalty as Danielle Styles was brought down inside the box, Styles getting up to take it fired the penalty in to see the scores level at half-time.
Bowers & Pitsea going on to take the lead early in the 2nd half a free-kick put into the area by Georgia Fraser put in by defender Taylor Parrish to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute. Styles with a strong run on the hour bringing about an own goal that saw the visitors go 3-1 up. Jasmine Cox put through on goal scoring for Lawford in the 83rd minute to set up a nervous finish, Bowers & Pitsea have come through one before quite recently and held on again to win the game and climb to the top of the table
Stevenage Ladies Reserves dropping points for the 2nd successive match allowing thier lead at the top to be eroded battled back twice at home on Sunday to earn a point against another side firmly in the title battle Newmarket Town Ladies. Brooke Wickens striking in the 20th minute firing Newmarket into the lead. Were quickly pegged back with Emily Schofield scoring for Stevenage. Wickens on target again moments later to restore Newmarket’s advantage, took the lead into the half-time interval, it didn’t last long after that with Stevenage making it 2-2 in the 49th minute Cara Breckenridge getting the goal. The points shared.
St Ives Town Ladies in 3rd spot in Division One close to within a point o Stevenage and 2 behind Bowers & Pitsea with games in hand on both. Unbeaten in the league were at home on Sunday against fellow Cambridgeshire side, Histon Ladies. A brace from Katie Stancombe moving her onto 8 for the season plus a goal for Top scorer Tierney Coulson seeing St Ives win the game 3-0. As well as an unbeaten start have by far and away the best defensive record in Division One conceding just 5 goals.
King’s Lynn Town Ladies are down in 8th position in Division One but have games in hand on everyone and should they get a run going could yet play themselves into the tussle at the top with the sides above all capable of taking points off each other. Were at home on Sunday taking on bottom side Hertford Town Ladies. A comfortable win in the finish despite what you might have been led to believe. Tiffany Forshaw on target for two goals. Jodie Hopkins-Duckhouse, Oksana Imanalijeva and Olivia Baker with a goal a piece in a 5-0 win.

Was an all South East Division One affair with Cambridge United WFC’s long run of cup matches continuing with an away trip of AFC Wimbledon Ladies, this Sunday. A 1-1 draw between the sides in the same fixture on the opening day of the season, Wimbledon have pushed on up the league since into 3rd position now a point behind 2nd placed Billericay. reaching the 3rd Round of the FA Women’s Cup. A competitive game between the sides it was the hosts who took the lead scoring late in the 1st half Jenny Nagle getting into the end of a free-kick to score in the 40th minute. 2 minute later Wimbledon had a 2nd Caroline Bisson sending a shot past the keeper. 2-0 the lead at half-time proved to be enough despite Cambridge pulling it back to 2-1 with a little over 10 minutes left, Emma Jenkins hitting a rebound in from a corner.
The other 3rd Round tie was an all Southern Premier Division affair with Loughborough Foxes Women travelling across to Wales to play Cardiff City Ladies in the Cup. A dramatic game that saw Cardiff City go 3-0 up before Loughborough mounted a terrific comeback to win the game 4-3 in extra time. Cardiff scoring twice late in the 1st half the 2nd from the penalty spot to lead 2-0 at the break. Went 3-0 up 7 minutes into the 2nd half. Cori Williams, Kylie Nolan and Grace Horrell credited with the goals.
Loughborough finding the woodwork with two strikes early in the 2nd period pulled it back to 3-1 just past the hour, Becky Matlock getting the goal. The game closing in on the final 10 minutes, Shauna Chambers having already hit the crossbar hits a screamer from distance to make it 3-2, a dramatic final ten minutes Loughborough finding the equalising goal 2 minutes from time Laura Dexter scoring from a free-kick on the edge of the area to send the tie into extra-time. Rebecca Knight scoring what would prove to be the winning goal 6 minutes into extra-time heading home a corner.
3 more sides booking a place in the last 8 of the Cup this Sunday, Huddersfield Town Ladies, Blackburn Rovers Ladies and Stoke City Ladies. Hull City Ladies travel to Bolton Wanderers Ladies this Sunday whilst Chichester City Ladies v Coventry United Ladies and Plymouth Argyle Ladies v Crawley Wasps Ladies are scheduled for the New Year.
FAWNL Plate
Two ties also played in the FAWNL Plate this Sunday again the 3rd Round, Stevenage Ladies already through to the last 8 of the competition with an extra-time win over Ipswich Town Women last Sunday.
Milton Keynes Dons Ladies from the Southern Premier Division were at home in the Plate taking on Midlands Division One side Bedworth United Ladies at Stadium MK. A good start to their league campaign Bedworth 3rd in the table proved a strong opponent for Milton Keynes the sides locked a 0-0 going into the break it was the visitors who would take the lead, Jessica Lundie finding the back of the net for Bedworth in the 68th minute. Milton Keynes getting the equaliser to send the tie into extra-time, the home side going on to score the winning goal to make it through, Leah Cudone with both.
Southern Premier Division side, Gillingham Ladies were at home in the 3rd Round of the Plate taking on South West Division One side, Chesham United Ladies. Sammy Booker opening the scoring for Gillingham on 21 minutes from a corner. Was soon 2-0 with Gillingham awarded a penalty kick, Ellie Manning scoring from the spot. 2 minutes later and the hosts went 3-0 up Booker with her 2nd of the game netting from a rebound. Chesham hitting the crossbar were also denied by some good saves from Courtney Shanley. Gillingham going further ahead in the 65th minute, Breon Grant lobbing the goalkeeper to make it 4-0. Booker going on to wrap up her hat-trick in the final 12 minutes of the game Gillingham winning 5-0.
Also making it through to the last 8 of the Plate are Liverpool Feds Women, Barnsley Ladies, Middlesborough Women and Keynsham Town Ladies with Sporting Khalsa Women at home to West Bromich Albion Women in the New Year.
FAWNL South East Division One
One league game to report on this Sunday from FAWNL South East Division One a 6 pointer from the bottom of the table Norwich City Ladies hosting bottom side Luton Town Ladies. Aimee Durrant with the only goal of the 1st half giving Norwich City the lead at the break. Kathryn Stanley on target to score early in the 2nd period to give Norwich a 2-0 lead. 1st versus 2nd in Beds & Herts Women’s Division One this Sunday with league leaders Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires travelling to 2nd placed Houghton Athletic Ladies looking to open up a 4 point lead at the top of the table. Braces for both Ellie Burke and Janiece Allen as they finished up with a comfortable win, Mary Lisle, Patience Ndlovu and Chemise Huitson all claiming a goal each too for Welwyn in a 7-2 to victory. Shakeela Hussain and Louise Spendelow scoring for Houghton Athletic who have no lost their last 3 league games after winning their 1st 3 to lead the table early on.
Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies take advantage of Houghton Athletic’s defeat as they climb into 2nd place in the Division One table winning their 3rd successive league game this Sunday. Were away to Sherrardswood Ladies. Lizzie Richardson hitting 4 goals into the back of the net for the visitors. Top scorer Natasha McConville adding another to her tally too along with a 1st goal of the season for Charlene Turturici-Clarke in a 6-0 win for Hemel Hempstead.
Playing just their 3rd and 2nd league games respectfully this Sunday defending champions St Albans Ladies were at home to newly promoted Garston Ladies 2nd XI. St Albans remain unbeaten with their 2nd league win of the season to lift them up to 4th in Division One. New signing Jessica McNamara scoring twice has 10 goals now from 5 appearances in the league and cup. Ellen Slater also scoring a goal has 6 now as St Albans won the game 3-1. Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup
One outstanding tie to be played in the 2nd round of the Beds & Herts Women’s League Cup, Division One side Northwood Ladies, finalists last season at home to Royston Town Ladies Development from Division Two. Claire Cranfield scoring a brace for Northwood as they progressed to the quarter finals with a 3-0 win. Emma Steele celebrating the other goal.

There was some heavy rainfall around at the weekend affecting a handful of games Beds & Herts Women’s Division Two the most affected with 3 of the 4 scheduled league matches called off. Letchworth Garden City Eagles match at home to Evergreen Eagles the sole survivor, 2nd placed Letchworth consolidating their league position with a 4-0 win top scorer Tayla Murray scoring a brace. Katie Smith also getting a goal with Lottie Cartwright scoring her 1st goal for Letchworth as they close the gap to Hitchin Town Ladies at the top to 4 points with 2 games in hand.
Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three
Leaders, Langford Ladies opened up an 8 point lead at the top of Beds & Herts Women’s Division Three at the weekend a 6th straight league win coming at home on Sunday up against Stotfold Juniors Ladies. A comfortable win in the finish for Langford with Chloe Scott joining top scorer, Amber Clark on 15 goals for the season as she hit 4 into the goal. Clarke herself getting a goal, Pearl Houghton also scoring her 2nd of the season, Katie Gayner finding the back of the net for her 1st goal of the season in a 7-0 win.
2nd placed AFC Kempston Town and Bedford College Ladies dropped points for the 1st time this season as their 100% winning start was brought to an end by local rivals Kempston Rovers Ladies on Sunday in Division Three. Celebrating their 1st ever league win last time out Kempston Rovers the visiting side earned themselves a point with goals from Chelsea Rose-Jeffery and Megan Dimmock in a 2-2 draw. Katie Hay scoring both of the goals for AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies who remain 2nd on 10 points, have 3 games in hand on the leaders, Langford.
Matching AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies record of 3 wins and a draw from 4 games played are AFC Dunstable Ladies Reserves as they move into 3rd position in the Division Three table. Opening the season a draw the newcomers have now won 3 in a row as they cruised to victory at home to Buntingford Town Ladies on Sunday. Bianca Vassell netting 5 times last time out scored a hat-trick this Sunday to move onto 11 goals for the season for Dunstable. Holly Wilks scored twice with Nicole Cameron and Ameerah Zaman-Choudary both scoring their 1st goals of the season in an 8-1 win.
Just a point behind the 2nd & 3rd placed sides are Woburn & Wavendon Lionesses as they bounced back form their 1st defeat of the season against AFC Dunstable Ladies last weekend with a narrow home win against Biggleswade United Ladies. Leeanne Davison scoring twice for Biggleswade, goals from Laura Johnson, Amelia Glean and Lucy Bloye with her first goal of the season saw Woburn & Wavendon clinch victory with a 3-2 result.
It’s going to remain a tight battle at the top of the Suffolk Women’s Division right up until the end of the season. East Bergholt United restoring a 3 point lead at the top of the table with a 4-1 away victory against Leiston St Margarets Ladies last Sunday in the only match played in the league. Annie Northwood with a hat-trick in the match for Easy Bergholt United.
The leaders weren’t in action this Sunday with 2 games played featuring the three sides all hoping to catch them. 2nd placed Brantham Athletic Ladies have gotten level with East Bergholt United before their victory last weekend were hosting 4th placed Walsham Le Willows Ladies. A close game Walsham Le Willows came out on top taking the 3 points home with a 3-2 win. Norma Locker scoring twice with Kirsty Pollard also on target. Walsham Le Willows are still playing catch up have 4 games in hand on the 3 sides above them with the gap to leaders East Bergholt United 11 points.
Bacton United Ladies came out on top of a 7 goal thriller away to Coplestonians Ladies to move back level on points with Brantham Athletic Ladies and into 2nd on goal difference on Sunday. Had to do it the hard way coming back from 3-0 down at the break with Courtney Ferris-Whatling, Megan Stock and Jemma Vessels on target for a goal each for Coplestonians. Bacton United getting back into it in the 2nd period with a goal from Lois Balfour and a hat-trick by Rebecca White securing a 4-3 win.
Once again it’s another shortened edition of The Round-Up with just the 12 games to report upon this weekend. Easter weekend was a much reduced fixture schedule anyway but with sides still needing to get a fair amount of games in another bout of wet weather wasn’t welcome as April begins. Half the fixtures suffering the next few weeks are going to be busy indeed.
Some bad news to bring you all at the start of this week’s Round-Up with the sad news that another 2 sides have withdrawn from their respective leagues, an unprecedented number this season already. Another side withdrawing from the ERWFL, Premier Division side Writtle Ladies. The news has been out there for a bit but only recently confirmed, the Essex side reaching the County Cup Final 3 season’s ago had enjoyed a rapid rise through the leagues in their short history, many of their players representing the county too. No doubt a very talented squad of players but had struggled to field a side in recent weeks. The news a bit of a shock because the side you felt had further to go but it has come to an end, will no doubt see their players feature for various sides come the new season and all will be an asset where ever they go wish everyone involved with the club all the best for the future.
Also withdrawing from their league are Essex Division One side, Waltham Forest Ladies. Again another side that has struggled for numbers all season getting behind with there fixtures and made every effort to try and find new faces for their squad. Hopefully they will feature again in the Essex county leagues soon and again wish everyone involved with the club all the best for the future.
There is some good news on the horizon I am aware of at least 3 new sides that are looking to start up next season and hopefully more new sides will be appearing too.
FAWPL Southern Division
On to the football, there was one match played in the FAWPL Southern Division on Sunday with Portsmouth FC Ladies hosting Swindon Town Ladies at Bognor Regis Town FC. The fifth placed side beating the side bottom of the Southern Division 5-0 to move to within a point of 4th placed Lewes FC Women. Shannon Albuery putting Portsmouth into the lead 22 minutes into the 1st half added a 2nd goal 5 minutes later with Samantha Quayle also on target with a goal 6 minutes before the break to see Portsmouth into a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead. Swindon Town remain without a point in the league with 3 matches left to play battled hard in the 2nd half to keep the scoreline down Portsmouth getting 2 more goal in the closing minutes Albuery completing her hat-trick. Katie James making it 5-0 in stoppage time.
FAWPL South East Division One
One match also in FAWPL South East Division One. Ipswich Town Ladies hosting Enfield Town Ladies the away side having several 1st team players unavailable with the match being arranged at short notice travelled with a good portion of their Reserve side. Ipswich Town taking the lead in the 19th minute, Sophie Welton quickest to the rebound after Natasha Thomas’ shot was saved to turn the ball into the back of the net. Their lead didn’t last long however and Enfield Town got themselves back on level terms a few minutes later Katherine Long with the goal. Long was on target again with 6 minutes of the 1st half left to put Enfield Town into a 2-1 lead. Ipswich’s turn to hit back with a quick reply were awarded a penalty up the other end, captain Amanda Crump tucking the ball away for 2-2.

All square at half-time Ipswich Town were back in front 5 minutes into the 2nd half defender Lindsey Cooper heading the ball home from a Crump corner. This time there was no quick reply Ipswich Town having the opportunity to go further ahead with 20 minutes left awarded a 2nd spot kick. Crump again delivering to make it 4-2. Gemma Moore scoring in the final minute for Ipswich Town to see them win the match 5-2 the 3 points lifting them back up to 2nd place in the South East Division One table.
ERWFL Premier Division
One match in the ERWFL Premier Division this weekend the table adjusted once more following Writtle’s withdrawal. League leaders Billericay Town Ladies travelling to bottom side Colney Heath Ladies on Sunday. The home side haven’t had the best of luck with injuries this season and were missing a few again but put on a valiant display nevertheless, Nicola Hollicks scoring the only goal of the 1st half to see Colney Heath leading 1-0. Summer Muir doubling the home sides lead early in the 2nd half. Billericay Town pulling it back to 2-1, managed to salvage a point with just 2 minutes left on the clock scoring to make it 2-2. Hayley Piggott and captain Lindsey Morgan with their goals. The point see’s Billericay Town leading the way by 8 points from 2nd placed Cambridge City Ladies with 2 matches to play. Cambridge City have 4 left maximum points will leave them on 35 points. 4th placed Acle United Ladies have 6 left to play however and should they and Billericay Town both claim maximum points in the run in they will both finish on 37 points going all the way once again.
ERWFL Division One North
In the ERWFL Division One North their was the one game played at the weekend, Histon Ladies at home to Silver End United Ladies the away side playing their last league fixture of the season a tough campaign a bottom place finish settled a while back. Lack of numbers earlier on in the season and injuries contributing. A goal in the opening fifteen minutes by Abigail Davies putting Histon into a 1-0 half-time lead. A strong finish in the 2nd half seeing Histon go on to secure all 3 points, Sophie Lanham scoring from the penalty spot with fifteen minutes left. A goal each for Hannah Gordon and Katie Webb in the final 10 minutes seeing Histon Ladies win the game 4-0 and move up into 3rd position in the table with a game in hand on 4th placed Cambridge United WFC Reserves. Silver End United Ladies season isn’t done quite yet have a Cup Final to play this coming Sunday are taking on Hutton Ladies for the Essex Women’s Trophy at Saffron Walden FC a 3pm kick-off.
ERWFL Division One South
One match in ERWFL Division One South too this Sunday with runners-up spot clinching promotion for whoever can claim it. Far from settled yet though Harlow Town Ladies are in possession at the moment 3 points clear of 3rd placed Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies who saw their match away to leaders Stevenage Ladies Reserves called off due to the weather. Harlow Town Ladies were at home taking on Hutton Ladies in 4th spot. The point’s were shared with the sides finishing at 2-2. Chloe Bassett and Lily Bruno scoring for Harlow Town. Kaitlin Sugg and Amy Crumpler on target for Hutton.
Norfolk Women’s Division One
Two matches in Norfolk Women’s Division One. Unbeaten Thorpe United Ladies move into 2nd spot in the table after claiming all 3 points away from home against Stalham Town Ladies this Sunday. Shanice Sutton moving past 30 goals for the season as she rattled home another hat-trick for Thorpe United. Lisa Ferdani also scoring in their 5-2 win.
5-2 was also the winning score for Wymondham Town Ladies Reserves at home to Fakenham Town Ladies on Sunday. The sides were level at the break drawing 2-2, before Wymondham Town ran out 5-2 winners in the 2nd half, Gemma Hamilton-Rout with a penalty amongst Wymondham Town’s goalscorers. Rochelle Woods and Natalie Wright with the 1st half goals for Fakenham Town.
Norfolk Women’s Division Two
10 win out of 10 for FC Sprowston Ladies at the top of Norfolk Women’s Division Two as they recorded another comfortable win on the road away to Kirkley & Pakefield FC Ladies in the only game in the league on Sunday. Katie Fray scoring a hat-trick in the match. There were goal too for Melissa Belsey, Charlie Head and Rebecca Kirby in a 6-0 victory.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership
A six point haul in a double header in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership saw new leaders in the table as St Ives Town Ladies moved above Netherton United Ladies on goal difference. This Sunday they were away to fellow title hopefuls, 3rd placed Newmarket Town Ladies in the only game in the Cambridgeshire leagues. Always a competitive tussle between the sides the pair were drawing goalless at the break. The win secured in the 2nd half Hannah Seymour-Shove and Katie Stancombe scoring for St Ives Town to see the away side win 2-0 and move into a 3 point lead at the top of the table. A 7 point gap between them and Newmarket Town now both have 3 to play.
Essex Women’s Premier Division
The weather played havoc with the fixture list in Essex once again with just 3 games surviving all featuring Chelmsford City Ladies, and it was bed news in all 3 as the point went the way of their opponents. In the Essex Women’s Premier Division, Chelmsford City Ladies 1st team were at home to Beacon Hill Rovers Ladies. Goals from captain Gaby Freedman and Georgia James for Chelmsford in the 1st half they found themselves trailing 2-3 thanks to a Jo Smeaton hat-trick for Beacon Hill Rovers. Smeaton adding a 4th goal in the 2nd half to secure the 3 points now has 21 goals for 12 appearances for Beacon Hill Rovers this season.
Essex Women’s Division One
A double header in Essex Division One, featuring Chelmsford City Ladies Reserves taking on high flyers Leigh Ramblers Ladies 4th in the table going into the match 3 points behind leaders Southend United Ladies. All very tight at the top. Leigh Ramblers are scoring plenty of goals only 2nd to Hullbridge Sports Ladies in the goal scoring charts before Sunday, their young squad up against the side bottom of the league this weekend scored another 15 goals in the 2 matches to claim all 6 points and take a 3 point lead at the top of the Division One table. A brace each for Abbi Brown and Amber Denton in the 1st match along with a goal each for Chloe Gilligan, Sasha Vail and Paige White seeing Leigh Ramblers win the match 7-0. Denton getting 5 more goals to her name in the 2nd game Leigh Ramblers winning 8-0. Their other goals scored by Rebecca Dalgarno, Molly Giles and Jordan Castle.
Two games from the Cambridgeshire Women’s Premiership this Sunday. Leaders Netherton United Ladies back in action after 2 weekends without a match were away to 2nd bottom Cambridge University Women. Having met them at the start of February winning at home convincingly 9-1. Away this time around Netherton United picked up all 3 points once again with top scorers Emily Johnson ad Yasmin Green netting a goal for the visitors in each half. Amanda Wainwright pulling a goal back for Cambridge University Women deep into stoppage time the 2-1 win sees Netherton United remain 6 points clear at the top of the Premiership.
St Ives Town Ladies are their nearest rivals now as they moved above Newmarket Town Ladies into 2nd place in the Premiership on Sunday. Were taking on March Town United Ladies for the 5th time this season St Ives Town coming out on top in all the previous encounters in league and cup. Away to March Town this Sunday it was another convincing performance to record their 9th league win of the season. Leading the game 2-0 at half-time went on to score 4 more in the 2nd half to win 6-0. Six different goalscorers for St Ives Town too, Tierney Coulson, Hannah Seymour-Shove, Georgia Stancombe, Connie Liddiard, Megan Stow and Amy Seymour-Shove all on target. 3 games in hand on Netherton United with a 6 point gap to close the sides have to face each other twice yet in the league including the final day of the scheduled league season.
Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup
One remaining quarter final to be played in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup this Sunday saw Premiership side Newmarket Town Ladies travelling to play Championship South leaders Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds. A narrow lead for Newmarket Town at half-time with a goal from Antonia Smith putting them in front. A brace from Jordanne Sillitoe sealing the win in the 2nd half to send Newmarket into the last four of the competition with a 3-0 victory.

Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup
Quarter final time in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Junior Invitation Cup too this Sunday with 3 of the 4 times taking place. Isleham United Ladies home match against Cambridge Rangers being called off.
Their 1st team booking their place in the Invitation Cup, Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves followed suit in the Junior Invitation Cup knocking out Premiership competition along the way. Away to Park Ladies, Newmarket Town Ladies Reserves travelled with a depleted squad having just the 10 available but came away with the win. Park took the lead in the tie scoring in the 1st half. Hollie Turner levelling the scores for Newmarket before goals from Sarah o’Rourke and Molly Agnew saw them leading 3-1 at half-time. O’Rourke scoring again in the 2nd half to extend the advantage to 4-1, Park getting it back to 4-2 a goal for Joeli Kirby seeing Newmarket Town into the last 4 with a 5-2 win. Amy Newell and Charlotte Tweed scoring the goals for Park.
Premiership side ICA Sports Ladies were at home in the quarter finals of the Junior Invitation Cup meeting Championship South side Histon Ladies Reserves for the 2nd time this season in a cup competition. That tie went all the way to a penalty shootout before ICA Sports progressed. This time round it was 0-0 between the 2 sides at the break before a brace from Carmen Herridge in the 2nd half ensured the win putting ICA Sports through to the semi-finals.
The final quarter final tie played this Sunday saw Championship North side Wisbech Town Ladies at home to Premiership side Cambridge City Ladies Development. The visitors taking the lead in the 10th minute Charlotte Gillies getting the goal. Wisbech Town came back to level the scores through top scorer Sophie Swinden. Megan Tonks returning to the side after a long term injury putting Cambridge City back into the lead on the half-hour. 2-1 the half-time lead Wisbech Town were far from out of the tie. Swinden getting it back to 2-2 in the 2nd half before Cambridge City went on to score twice more through Tonks getting her 2nd and a goal from Rachel Pearce. That the score going into the last 5 minutes sadly the game was abandoned at that point due to an injury to Wisbech Town’s Shushannah Feast suffering a double leg break a nasty injury which has since had surgery. Wishing Shushannah all the very best for a full and speedy recovery.

One match played in the group stages of the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division One Cup this Sunday a clean sweep of wins for Riverside Ladies in Group D as they won their 3rd match in the group away to Pinchbeck United Ladies. Samantha Woodham scoring a hat-trick. Both Annie Posnett and Sophie Harris getting a brace with Jess Hill, Diana Olahova and Saxon Clarke all getting a goal each in a 10-0 win.
