Wymondham Town Ladies were playing the biggest game in their clubs history this Sunday having gone further in the FA Women’s Cup than they ever had before reaching 4th Round Qualifying. A place in the 1st Round Proper of the competition up for grabs. Had beaten FAWPL South East Division One opposition in the previous round, now they had another FAWPL South East Division One side visiting them at King’s Head Meadow.
Bedford Ladies were enduring a tough start to the new season, just the one league win to their name they were sitting bottom of the table going into today’s FA Women’s Cup tie and were looking for the win not only to progress but also build some much needed confidence to take into their league campaign. Hot on the heels of a trip to Bury St Edmunds on Wedsnesday night, it was a return to Suffolk on Thursday the destination Mildenhall Town FC to watch a match in this season’s East Anglian Counties Championships. 4 counties contesting the competition this time around, Essex, Kent and tonights opponents Suffolk & Hertfordshire. On paper Hertfordshire had the greater body of players to call upon bring up to Suffolk. Suffolk itself with a smaller pool of clubs and players had called up a very strong looking squad as the two sides played out their opening fixture under the lights. Midweek football from the Ram Meadow Stadium in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk for a 1st round tie in this seasons Ryman Women’s Cup with Bury Town Ladies plying their trade in the ERWFL Division One East hosting higher league opponents, Gillingham FC Ladies playing in the FAWPL South East Division One, 2 leagues higher.
